Last but not least! My main Templartations assignment, a tavern scene for @nirikeehan Give me the idea of Cullen and Rylen grabbing a cold one in The Herald’s Rest, and I am all fired up immediately! Feels like all I can manage to complete these days is work for an exchange deadline 😅 Nevertheless, I'm still pretty happy with this little fic I wrote for @smashingpigeons featuring her OC Arhea Lavellan and Cullen. Well, vaguely, featuring her, as it ended up being more of an introspective Cullen piece than I originally intended 😆

Isn't that always the way though? I no longer question where the muse takes me!

Shelter From The Storm

Rating: General Pairing: Cullen Rutherford/Arhea Lavellan Word Count: 6286 Summary: Cullen cannot sit idle when there is a chance that the Herald might have managed to escape the avalanche at Haven. He marches out into a blizzard to find her.

They pressed on in the early twilight of dusk; climbing the pitted, winding path into the mountains. The corrupted dragon’s furious roar rocked the valley below, almost mighty enough to trigger an avalanche in itself. “I think they got its attention,” Rylen observed from at his side, but Cullen kept his eyes locked ahead and led the survivors of Haven onward. He could not stop; could not permit himself a moment of indecision. His duty was here and now, to see these people to safety. To make the most of every ounce of time the Herald could buy them. He gritted his teeth as he marched forward, torch held high and sword at the ready in case anything should ambush them as they scaled this overgrown and forgotten track. All too soon, they left the relative safety of that narrow trail and met the broad, open slopes above Haven. Cullen peered into the gloom between the trees, unsure of where they should go, other than up to the safety of the high ground. Only safe in the interim however, from the army of red templars below, for a cold wind was growing more insistent as it tugged at his cloak. A wicked storm was brewing. Time, and now the elements it seemed, conspired against them.  All their efforts would be for nothing if they could not find shelter soon, and safety from the wild, hungry animals that roamed these peaks.

I’m so happy the 2023 Arlathan Exchange and the Templartations exchange has produced some good new Carver/Merrill content on AO3 for me to scoop up and enjoy 😁  

It can be hard enough going in the Carver/Merrill tag on Archive Of Our Own and finding it swamped with fics that only feature them as a tiny background pairing, when what you REALLY want is fics that are actually about the OTP 😒  so I’m really happy to get a good number of excellent fics out of both exchanges! 😍

As for a scene. I'll give you a few of my favorites to choose from.

Chapter 17 of War of Hearts. Towards the end Cullen and Evelyn train, they end up in very close proximity of each other and both have some smexy thoughts about one another.

Chapter 20 of War of Hearts, if you're looking for spicy. Cullen accidentally spys Evelyn bathing in a lake. 🤐

Chapter 22 of War of Hearts also towards the end they nearly kiss in front of her cabin. 💋

And if you're in the mood for antagonism, nearly every other chapter they end up staring each other down, angrily lol.

Templartations Exchange 2023 officially begins!

What is Templartations Exchange?

Templartations Exchange is a Discord server exclusive fics and arts exchange created to celebrate templars and ex-templars characters from the Dragon Age universe, such as Cullen Rutherford, Alistair Theirin, Raleigh Samson, Delrin Barris, Rylen, Carver Hawke, and others

Note: even though this is a templars-related event, members of the Templartations community DO NOT necessarily go with templars siding play-throughs nor share the in-game pro templars views. This is an event hosted for everyone to celebrate their favorite Dragon Age characters and appreciate the diversity in the fandom.
