Samadhishwara Temple, Chittorgarh, Rajasthan Chittorgarh fort in Rajasthan is one of the oldest living forts in India. It us the fort that has so many stories of courage, sacrifice & devotion. We know as much about the queens of this fort as we do about the kings who ruled from here. Chittorgarh fort is full of temples - big & small, defunct & practising, Samadhishwara temple, standing on the base of an inverted lotus is one of the oldest temples in the fort. It has a giant face of Shiva with 3 heads. I saw a similar sculpture in wood at a museum in the fort. Walls inside the sanctum are carved and their age shows. Nandi here looks almost a miniature here. On the outside walls the whole lifecycle of a human life is carved. Gomukh pond stands next to the temple. SO has to leave on a business trip for while and wants to mess with their skelly. SO leaves out the skelly’s favorite piece of lingerie on their bed with a note that says “don’t miss me too much”.

Stitches: to clap back, stitches sends his SO a very… tantalizing selfie of him. And he times it so that he knows SO is on the clock when they get it lol.

Tinker: he won’t admit it, but it took him two days to notice the lingerie. He decided he’d keep himself busy by crocheting yet another king bed sized blanket. He’ll lie though when SO comes home if they ask about it lol

Cider: he’s never been more turned on lol. Ok that’s an exaggeration, but if you really wanna get cider going, tease him with the promise of more later, and he’ll be crazy for you. He LOVES the anticipation

Barley: he’ll send SO a picture of him wearing the lingerie with the caption “weird gift for me babe, but I think it suits me~”. Why did you decide to date this weirdo?

Rhythm: he just shakes his head amused at his SOs antics. He’ll text them later, something teasing and scolding at the same time. But he will be expecting them to wear the set when they get back ;)

Papaya: his feathers on his wings all puff up when he sees the lingerie on his bed. What?! Did they not go on their trip? He looks around the house for SO, and just before he’s about to call them he sees the note lol. Now he’s disappointed

Edge: he smirks when he sees his SO lingerie and the note. He loves when they get coy like this~ of course now he has to plan some fun payback, but hey, SO started it. lol they better expect edge to be up to something when they get back

Willow: he blushes slightly when he reads the note and laughs. Stars he loves SO so much, even if they are a dirty tease. He’ll call them and give a playful scolding that evening. Maybe a little phone flirtation too..?

Rowdy: ah hell, no wonder partner has been giving rowdy amused looks all afternoon. SO knows that there’s no way his cousin wouldn’t see the lingerie left on his bed too! He hurriedly hides it away in his own drawers so he can return it to SO when they get back in town lol

Shield: oooo spicy~ he laughs at the note and that night sleeps with the lingerie on the pillow besides him. The clothes smell like the laundry detergent his SO uses and it’s comforting. He already misses them.

Zen: he’s rather puzzled by why people think this is funny. The monks at the temple would also flirt by flashing some ankle, as the robes they wear as their uniforms cover pretty much everything lol. SO should’ve seen his flustered face the first time shield dragged him to the beach

Shield: his humor is a little different. He had both the old medieval absurd humor of the temple monsters and humans, and the vine loving humor of a modern monster. So shield knows any really recent references but doesn’t get older memes. Your Victorian joke is lost on him but hey! Have fun with it!

Star: he’s cackling so hard when you reveal the side gig to him. Hilarious, beautiful, he knew he loved you for a reason! Star goes through the whole only fans giggling the whole time at the photos and the comments on them. He even offers to star in a few pictures, wearing the dresses himself and flashing those boney ankles

Honey: oh. My. Stars. You hath killed him. Knocked him dead. One day honey sees on your phone a notification from your only fans sending you a payment. He’s not mad but a little concerned he didn’t know about it, cause that’s kinda a thing he thinks he should know about. And when you show him the account, he laughs so hard he cries. And for no reason in particular at all... which non-barrier world in which human interacted with monsters, besides the factory one, was relatively technologically advanced? Enough for electricity?

Alright:

Had electricity: mafiatale (factory monsters), farmtale, farmswap,

No electricity: birdtale birdfell birdswap, templetale

Electricity but only for the ultra rich: farmfell horrorfarm

And fallouttale was a special case: before the nuclear fallout, most people had access to power, but in the years after, only secured bases had any sort of electricity. Anyone outside of them was left to fend for themselves.

The bird AUs were quite medieval, it hadn’t been invented yet! And templetale had close alternatives that ran on magic instead as well as small smatterings of groups instead of large countries, so there was no interest in finding an alternate power source

Hey y’all!! It’s time to introduce templetale and it’s characters!!

To start; the au templetale was set on the surface. It’s an au where monsters and humans lived together within a large forest surrounded by a barrier. And of course after the crash, they joined the rest of the AUs.

In templetale, monsters and humans worked together thousands of years ago to put up a barrier around their forest to protect themselves. It’s been long forgotten what exactly was the enemy they were shutting out, but nowadays, the barrier serves as more of a symbol of their dedication to their ancestors the fae

This au has the most complete history of any of the others. They still have old records of a time before the wars where other races lived with monsters and humans. Many believe these are just myths though and take it with a grain of salt.

After the crash, most temple monsters simply just mixed in with every one else. They don’t really stand out magic wise unless they’re one of the monks or a dedicated follower to who took the pact of peace. These monsters (and mages) only develop magic that can help others, any magic that can cause harm is shunned.

The temple grounds now consists of the monks who maintain it, the library staff, and the permanent guards stationed to protect the staff and records. The grounds are surrounded by a barrier maintained by the monks. It’s said to be powered by the same runes that made the barrier of their old forest, recreated by the Drake monsters. People and things can pass through a front and back entrance easily, as long as they show their IDs to the guards

Now let’s meet the characters!

Zen (templetale sans)

Zen is a smaller skeleton monster at only 5 feet tall. He’s 44 years old and has pebble grey magic. His ecto is smooth and soft, but not real chubby.

Zen is a calm, gentle and kind fellow. He’s not shy but can come across as distant being a monster of few words. He’s affectionate with his friends and family, and doesn’t really have much of a sense of danger or survival from coming from such a peaceful au. This tends to lead him into lots of trouble to his brothers horror. Zen is very much technologically illiterate and struggles to learn how to use modern devices, but he’s wonderful at anything nature related.

Zen is a temple worker and monk in the national library, and barrier grounds. His job is a mix of grounds keeping, giving tours, giving sermons, and farming. He’s one of the few monsters left who speaks and reads the old languages fluently, so he’s tasked with translating as well when it’s needed

His special ability is a heightened sense of touch. When he holds onto people, he can tell things about them that normally other senses do; like what they had for dinner, if they have health issues, or what mood they’re in.

As a monk, he was never taught to create magical attacks, instead he has made a pact of peace. His only magic skills are picking things up, soul checks and healing

Hobbies: gardening, birdwatching, playing the lute fiddle and harp, scrapbooking, and swimming

Loved items: the color bronze, honey glazed pears and apples, mead, instruments, new sheet music, forest birds, bird feeders, the text of mother magic

Shield (templetale papyrus)

Shield is a skeleton monster aged 39 years old and standing at 6’1 feet tall. He has a dark moss green magic and a cute tooth gap. His ecto is lean muscle like a runners build

Shield has a lot of energy held back behind a carefully trained sense of self control. He comes across as stoic and dedicated when you first meet him. And he is, on the job that is. When shield isn’t on duty, he’s playful, bouncy and just a real sweetheart. Some think he’s naive like the other temple monsters, but that’s not the case. His time in the guard has taught him to keep watch for others intentions. He’s not so easily tricked.

Shield had been set to train as a monk before the crash, but when the royal guard was reformed, he jumped at the chance to join. He’s now stationed at the library and barrier grounds as security. He works closely with the drakefell guild and the other guards to keep the records safe.

His special ability is rapid growth. He’s unique in that he got the vine growing abilities of his petal monster mom, but without any vines on his body to use it, instead the roots of any plants around him are affected. Roots will grow to massive sizes for him at will, and shrink as well.

His magic weapon is a handsome shield made of bone. It’s spiked on one side and is painful to crash into. It’s how he got his nickname

Hobbies: sparring, swimming, social drinking, first person shooter games, parties, shooting ranges, gardening and entertaining kids

Loved items: the color royal purple, craft beers, small kids, nachos, the halo series, cool misshapen gourds and gourd art, patriotic tshirts

Side characters

Shrine: templetale gaster, a rather bubbly monk at the temple grounds, a real sweetie. Every one thinks he’s younger than he actually is. He’s a skilled musician and plays the ambient music inside the library’s main hall

Daylily: a lily-like petal monster and the soulmate of shrine. Daylily (or Lily for short) is also a monk on the temple grounds and is one of the main garden keepers. She’s a gentle and warm soul, well to those who don’t flirt with shrine that is.

How do grimtale and templetale view each other and their beliefs?

Their views of lady magic are pretty closely aligned with just a few different details in the myths. Templetale and Grimmtale get along great and historians believe they must be sister AUs, or AUs who were much closely parallel than others

Kinda like how many believe that horrorfarm and drakefell are related somehow as well cause of matching fauna and animal life.

For the new skeletons

They wake up as a different species of monster, one wakes up as a human

Zen: *froggit* his hands and fingers are significantly shorter now making playing the harp a lot harder. He’s sulky about it and is real excited to turn back

Shield: *stone golem*. He has to borrow another guards armor since he has no hope of ever fitting into his own right now. Clothes aside, shield isn’t too bothered by this development. Sure the crazy strength took a hot minute to get used to, but he thinks he has it under control

Hilda: *dog monster* she can run faster, but lost her wings in the process, so the whole chance to feel the wind in her fur is lost. She’s pissed lol

Saga: *cat monster* she took the day off work to basically play with hair styles all afternoon. If she’s gonna be a cat for a day, she wants to enjoy it to the fullest. She even dyes her fur. She’ll be rather sad to wake up as a skeleton again the next day

Helios: *fire elemental* so now he’s always on fire. Oh what a shocker. He doesn’t care

Artemis: *water elemental* she’s quite put out that of all the monsters she could’ve been turned into, she became one that is the exact opposite of her aesthetics. She likes warm colors dangit! And now she’s all blue!

Alden: *human* oh wow! He’s pretty handsome! After admiring his face in the mirror for a while, Al gets to work and paints a self portrait to remember this day. He gets too into it though and is unable to finish before he turns back

Ollivander: *human* he’s big into family history and does have humans somewhere along his fathers side, so when he’s turned into a human with a caramel skin and dark black hair, he’s shocked. All the humans he could trace back were pale, full of freckles and redheads. Where did this face come from? This leads ollie to the discovery of a great great great (x8) ancestor who was from the Philippines

Zen: he tilts his head slightly as he ponders the statement. Zen thinks he should be called smooth instead of bald. After all, bald implies that hair was supposed to be there in the first place, and skeletons don’t grow hair!

Shield: his mouth quirks up slightly in a grin and he loudly proclaims that no! He didn’t know he was bald! Where did his hair go??! What a tragedy! All of this is said in the most bored monotone voice as well of course. The sarcasm is strong with this one

G: he laughs and says that it’s ok! He can just wear your hair! And If you have long enough hair, he’ll flip it over your face and onto the top of his head wearing it like a goofy hat. If you have short hair, he laughs and says you’re only a few inches away from being bald yourself. Better watch it~

Green: he takes this as a genuine question on skeleton monster biology. So green launches into an explanation on why skeleton monster bones are so smooth compared to the rougher texture of preserved human bones. It’s quite interesting!

Lush: he sadly proclaims that all the money in the world couldn’t buy him hair, so he just has to settle for his bald head. If you try to correct him and mention wigs, he shuts you up with a finger over your lips and says his first reply again lol.

Pepper: he huffs and is all “WHY DO YOU THINK IM A HAIRDRESSER? ITS HOW I COPE WITH WHAT ILL NEVER HAVE!”. Pepper thinks it’s terribly unfair that hair can be styled so many ways, and skeleton monsters will never have it naturally.

Shield: if it’s something like bringing him lunch, then he’s pretty touched, or practical gifts. Just shiny things he doesn’t care about

Hilda: it makes her uncomfortable to be spoiled with gifts all the time. She might tell SO to stop

Saga: she does love things that come with a little bit of history! She’s got large bookcases in her room that she’ll display the trinkets on
