It was explained in The Last's light novel or databook why the Tenseigan reverted to Byakugan when the eyes returned to Hanabi? I thought that since the Tenseigan is a dojutsu equivalent to the Rinnengan, it would never go back to being a Byakugan, just like the Rinnengan never goes back to being a Sharingan.

No I don't think that was explained, but I don't think that we should just assume that the Tenseigan works in the same way that the Rinnegan does, because remember - even though the Rinnegan is on a level higher than the Sharingan, both of them along with the Byakugan are collectively known as "The three Great Doujutsu". So the Rinnegan and Tenseigan being on a similar tier in terms of power and abilities shouldn't really say much regarding their mechanics.

Bros, imagine that Neji survived and became the main antagonist of the 10th film.

He would have killed Hiashi, for example, or better yet, would have staged an uprising of a side branch with the words “lol, Hinata, did you really think that I would forget everything? Your dad literally made me and the others slaves.” He would get tenseigan by stealing uncle's eyes.

Of course, Naruto would still win in the end, since it's a shounen, but it would be infinitely better than the damn aliens and the Hyuga finally got their comeuppance for their bastard system.

As much as I hate Retsuden I must admit I like how it gives Sakura parallels to the things Sakura fans always complained about Hinata.

Really the punch on Kaguya was nothing to brag about, as where Hinata infiltrated Toneri's castle and located the tenseigan so without her finding out where it was on her own they would have never found or figured out what was moving the moon before it crashed down to Earth.

Hamura's Chakra Headcanon

So I was thinking, what if when Hinata got Hamura's chakra, she knew she couldn't handle it alone, so she shared some with Hanabi and Neji? This would also be a step closer to uniting to main and side branches.

Then, in the toneri arc, the three kick Toneri's ass together, and all three of them get the tenseigan, Hinata first since she has more of Hamura's chakra and Neji follows shortly after since he's the strongest Hyuga alive right now. Then Hanabi not too long after since she has a pure byakugan that Toneri used to get the tenseigan.

Hinata The Last Blank Period

What she’s done & Scaling for her adult years despite the peacful times.

 The Last movie :

Mastery of the gentle fist over the timeskip

Then a bit of pre war arc scailing & Her accoplishments during war arc

Requesting to go on the mission to rescue Hanabi

Hinata uses her byakugan to help track down Hanabi

Hinata’s byakugan can see as far as 20 kilometers ( 12 miles ) without missing a single detail Hinata could see a trail of Hanabi's chakra (before Harma’s chakra)(She is a tracker so this shouldn’t be new)

Leaving to save her sister, stop Toneri and to destory the Tenseigan from hitting the Earth. While trying talking to Toneri in a peaceful manner trying to change his about Shinobi.

Intelligence & deduction:

Hinata was able to find Hamuras tenseigan on her own. (Her speciality as a tracker is coming in handy)

Combat:

The puppets she fought were at least High Jounin level. Using basic gentle fist.

Surpassing her father

Hiashi on the other hand(along with his body guards), got beaten and had to use Kaiten to throw them away while Hinata never used her strongest jutsu against them, she fought them with the basic gentle fist.

People will say "the puppets held back against Hinata!”

Toneri threw an explosion at her, he treated her badly and asked his puppets to fight her.

Hiashi cannot that feat when he barely handled falling rocks.

The tall puppet also defeated Hiashi but not Hinata

Hinata is the only known Hyuga member who uses the Twin lion fists also use it in conjunction with sixty four palms. But she also developed different version of the jutsu  

“ Eight Trigrams Twin Lion Surging Shot”

Hinata & Naruto destoryed the tesigan together

Side note: Hinata wasn’t fully recovered when she attempted to destroy the Tenseigan. She literally just got a green orb removed from her. ( he kept doing this on repeat)

That orb tampers and messes with the chakra flow. Look at what happened to Naruto after the orb hit him. Even Hinata could barely stand on the wall after Toneri used the orb on her. This ain't no antifeat.

Side Note: A narrative perspective, expecting for Hinata to be really strong in the movie because she is a MC and the heroine but she can't overshadowing Naruto because he is the MC which is why she didn’t destroy the Tenseigan alone

For plot reasons, she had to do it with Naruto.

Toneri : level threat only two people at the time could defeat him. Aka just the only people at the time Naruto & Sasuke.

She's come far despite the little screen time she had. Adopting the nindo to never give up. Training hard to become a Gentle Fist Master the strongest taijutsu. She's around Kage level in terms of fighting.

I'll be able to fix redo this later in more detail if I have the time.

Some notes on the Tenseigan and the Moon Portals!

Just thought I should publicize some of the notes I wrote for when I was concepting MFN because I found them funny while re-visiting my old notebooks.

FACTS:

The Tenseigan and the Moon Portals ARE connected. Proof? When the Tenseigan was destroyed at the end of ‘The Last’ the portal literally starts breaking down soon after. 

Fan-Canon: 

I believe the portal was created specifically to keep unwanted guests OUT. It should be hard for Jinchuuriki, and Kekkei Genkai users to cross the portal. 

FACTS:

The Tenseigan’s Genjutsu traps...can be ‘shared’. Naruto was able to peer into Hinata’s Genjutsu, and vice versa. 

Fan-Canon:

No scarves required to share one another’s genjutsu! If you’re simply physically close to whoever you get stuck in a genjutsu with, you might share genjutsu ‘trips’.

FACTS:

Despite being submerged under special water that makes up the Moon Portal--Hinata’s tears can be seen falling off of her. ...Why? (This always annoyed me watching the movie. I was like...why can we see her tears? This movie makes no sense----!!!!)

Fan-Canon in MFN:

Nevermind! Tears that come off of the Byakugan Princess are special!!!

FACTS:

The Moon Portals were ‘guarded’ by a giant crab-monster. Crab is one of Hinata’s LEAST favorite foods!? Coincidence...??

Fan-Canon: 

Yeah. It was just a coincidence. Also that scene in the movie was a waste of time. We could have had more KISSING. UGH.

Oh Neji's back? Then forget about Hanabi, he must be leading that clan asap! I always wanted Hanabi to have Tenseigan but the movie is really bad and the eye is just a cheap copy of MS

He’s not YET back. He’s still dead, lol. But he will be back at some point. As to clan affairs, well, that’s to be developed. I already have the plot at large in mind, I just need to get there. 😊

Why doesn't the Hyuga clan have a job like the Uchiha clan being police officers? Or the Inuzuka as trackers and vets, Nara aids of the Hokage and Yamanaka interrogators? The Hyugas were just slave owners and proud of it? Why didn't they take care of konoha's barrier team? They have 360° 20km (for now) eyesight. Chakra erasure isn't a weak spot for them so that would have been a great job for them. I imagine Hiashi doing great leading that team, and not to mention Hanabi. She got the perception of an adult at 11 so imagine that Byakugan (if she got Tenseigan leftovers even better) but right now Hanabi as jonin leader of the barrier team would be perfect I see it. Kawaki would shake and so would Isshiki floating on the air Delta and Koji (esp Koji chilling hiding in Konoha).

Just because they're a clan doesn't mean they have to have a job or a responsibility that is specific to them. The Aburame and Akimichi clans were part of the 4 noble clans of the Leaf along with the Uchiha and Hyuga, and the former two didn't have specific responsibilities either, it was just the Uchiha. The Aburame clan are equally capable trackers as the Inuzuka, and I'm sure they do take up these responsibilities when the situation calls for it, but it's just not a specific profession for them.

Following the Uchiha massacre, the Hyuga clan was the Leaf village's primary combative force, so that's something. But the way you phrased the question made it seem as though you think the Hyuga didn't do anything, which is incorrect. They all have professions, but they just had no specific profession that they were known for.

Himawari can't be passed off as a Narusaku kid cause of her hair,and even if she was blonde,she would still have the Byakugan,but they did try to pass her off as a Tonehina kid a long time ago. The reasons where her eyes are blue like the Tenseigan and Toneri hides his whiskers under his hair. How they tried to make that work was Sasuke went off and had Sarada with Karin,Naruto and Sakura went off and had Boruto,and Hinata somehow found a way to the Moon,slept with Toneri,and came back pregnant with Himawari.

That's I just have no words for that, like seriously her blue eyes are Naruto's colours while the Tenseigan has blue it is a different shade and overall design. Plus how can he hide whiskers you can see he doesn't have any his hair isn't big enough to block them and his hair is out of the way during chakra mode.

Kaguya was such a boss girl that she ate chakra fruit,sealed both juubi and god tree and became second strongest being in history of naruto multiverse. My ladt even created six universes for fun😳

Her children,Hagoromo and Hamura were blessed with such godly chakra which inherited from their mother,grow so strong after inventing and mastering six paths sage mode that they alone could overpower her,hold her down until hagoromo absorbs juubi and god tree,then sealed away kaguya's remains because she was still a threat.

Hagoromo surpassed her and Hamura was the closet to her once he awakened tenseigan.

Hagoromo in his deathbed transcended time and samsara,and in that state,where he was far weaker than his prime self,split his chakra in two and gave it to narusasu to make them capable of fighting against his mother.

And that kaguya wasn't even prime kaguya but still team 7 defeated her in a miraculous way, which made it seem as if they had plot armor.

If kaguya and her children were united,even the whole otsutsuki clan wouldn't have been abe to take them down.
