I'm rereading Elantris and thinking about similarities between Sarene and Adolin:

Considered embarrassingly old to still be unmarried (mid-twenties); Adolin was forced to import a potential bride and Sarene was forced to export herself as a bride, both times to someone they hadn't laid eyes on yet.

OH ALSO both of their failures in courtship sound ludicrous. No man in Teod wants to marry the princess because she's tall and outspoken? Seriously? No woman in Alethkar can stand Adolin, cousin to the king? Really? As the Americans say, come on.

It seems Hrathen's plan succeeded: new followers are indeed flocking to him. And Sarene and Lukel suspect trickery, as well they should. Interesting that Shuden is less dismissive. Also interesting follow-up to an earlier remark, that Shu-Dereth and Shu-Korath came from the same Jindoese teaching: Shuden regards both as offshoots from what I assume is his own religion, Shu-Keseg. Plot-relevant or not, I like the worldbuilding here.

The Teoish patriarch (I think he is the head of the Korathi Church in Arelon as well as Teod?) seems every bit as conceited as Sarene said. The rivalry between the Korathi and Derethi Church isn't healthy!

I was going to say that there's noting odd about holding a wedding in the same place that you earlier held a funeral service. But holding the wedding immediately after the funeral, with the same decorations, yes, that is a touch macabre. Also, it leaves precious little time for something to happen that prevents Roial and Sarene from marrying (unspoken plan guarantee, again). I wonder if Hrathen's potion will play a role? But who?

I haven't finished Collateral Victim yet and I haven't fully watched The Edge of Destruction but CV involves a tardis possessing their pilot('s corpse?) and TEoD involving the characters made to be like that by the tardis, wonder if you could meta it into TEoD being a much lower level version of CV's tardis involvement. Either way tardis possessions sounds fun! Not for the characters involved i mean, but interesting nonetheless!

Are there any other examples, other than The Doctor's Wife, of stuff down the tardis-posessing route?
