O' beautiful and wise muse of perfumery, I call upon you for aid; do you have any recommendations on men's perfumes for a hot guy I'm not-so-subtly trying to flirt with?

Hi love!!!! While I do like men’s fragrances, I like them mainly through the lens of them being worn by women, so I’m not sure I can be of any help here. Especially since I don’t know the man.

I’m happy to try, though!🌹🪽

The classics: Bleu de Chanel, Allure Homme Sport de Chanel, Terre d’Hermes. All more on the fresh side. The two Chanel’s are massively popular which could be good (likeable scent) or bad (if he’s afraid of being perceived as “basic”). I get the hype, though. And Hermes is a Darling and known for both being relatively easy to wear (depends on the guy, his age and personality of course) and still being sophisticated. Chanel’s Platinum Égoïste is also very chic imo and more on the fresh side.

If he likes refreshing, cool-water scents, I’d recommend trying L’Eau par Kenzo pour Homme, L’Eau d’Issey pour Homme or Aqua di Giò pour Homme (the frosted EdT from 1996). These are also all classics. The Gaultier Beaus (Le Beau and Le Beau Paradise) are also lighter/refreshing, but a little sweeter than the previous ones.

If he’s more of a “here I am” type, he could try Fucking Fabulous by Tom Ford. One Million by Pack Rabanne is also a scent in that direction, very loud, but I personally find it a little too sweet and cloying. If he is more of a young, popular, clubby type of guy, One Million might work for him, though! It really depends. I think many Tom Fords are both extroverted and young/clubby, if that’s his thing that might be worth checking out? Also Gaultier Le Male, of course, if he’s into the 90s clubbing OGs. That or the flankers always works, I feel — but again he might feel like they’re overplayed (or not his style). Same with Eros by Versace which gets a pretty bad rep in the “fragrance community” (opinionated YouTubers), but I personally don’t hate it? For more modern options, I’d maybe try Scandal pour Homme and that little robot boy from Paco Rabanne. I haven’t tried them yet but I feel like they might be fun.

If he likes sweeter scents, he could try L’Homme Ideal by Guerlain, Dior Homme Intense, or Spicebomb by Victor & Rolf. I’ve also heard interesting things about Luna Rossa Black by Prada, L’Homme Prada and the Valentinos, but haven’t tried them yet. They look really hot though I have to admit.

Scents that really get to me personally are égoïste by Chanel, Antaeus by Chanel, Fat Electrician by Etat Libre d’Orange, La Fin du Monde by Etat Libre d’Orange and Habit Rouge by Guerlain. These are however all a little opulent, old fashioned/“for older men” or unisex (or multiple of these). That’s what makes them hot to me, but depending on the guy he might not be into that.

Hello, lovely! Me at it again with a perfume question because I really trust your judgement!

I am looking for a new light daytime scent for myself; I'd like something that's not too sweet and not floral at all. Something clean and fresh and expensive smelling without it being heavy. It could be a little fruity too (just like me lol) - i especially like the warm smell of oranges but it shouldn't overpower. Maybe leaning into a unisex scent. I've been looking at reviews of Jo Malone and the Blackberry & Bay sounds really lovely but that's all I got so far. I mean their orange scents sound great too but are sold out everywhere here. Probably since the Duchess of Cambridge dropped that she uses that one :D

Do you have any other recommendations?

ok so i think i might have a few recs for you to try out! i kinda took the orange suggestion and ran with it 🍊 idk why these are mostly hermes. i think jean claude ellena is just an absolute master at creating light and airy fragrances i love his work so much especially with them

hermes un jardin sur le nil: very vegetal and crisp and summery and light🙂 has an orange note but honestly just smells like a garden to me..almost savory and extremely unisex. def sample this before buying if you can actually that goes for all of these. dont blind buy in general usually lol

hermes le jardin de monsieur li: this one im not sure youll like because it is a white floral as well but its fairly subtle in my opinion it takes a backseat to the kumquat note which is very strong especially in the opening. and a kumquat is like an orange basically (? not really but its very reminiscent of it..a bit more bitter) so i think you may enjoy it. this is so lovely for warmer weather i think it especially blooms in the heat.🙂

hermes terre d’hermes: unisex leaning masculine citrus and vetiver! has an orange note specifically but imo mostly a vetiver im not sure if you like vetiver but i think itd be worth a shot. very beautiful very classy and good for warmer weather

nishane wulong cha: this is a bit out of left field but its a really beautiful and unisex green tea with citrus with like absolutely zero sweetness. also has an orange note now that im looking it up but it really is not overpowering at all. has insane longevity for a freshie but is still light and suitable for summer🙂

and if you can find it where you live nest seville orange fragrance oil is very nice and a super juicy realistic orange! i used to have a rollerball but not anymore. ok hope that helps💃🏻

Hermes: Terre D’Hermes Vétiver

The Classic reborn! I’ve seen a lot of mixed reviews on this and I can’t imagine why. It’s a great addition to the line and in my opinion a fantastic evolution to the scent. I suspect the only ones making a fuss as the old heads who simply despise change to anything that sprung in their era, “These damn millennials” 

The vetiver is a fantastic inclusion that is well blended with the existing notes, adding a hint of soft spice to the scent, sweetening its presence ever so slightly. In the dry down it emerges into a mysterious spice floral combo that carries relatively well on my skin. I would consider this a longer lasting daytime fragrance with modest projection. If you have previously enjoyed the classic, I think you would be intrigued and would approve of the iteration.
