010 :: in the midnight hour

One thing Matt did enjoy about his job, oddly enough, were the unsociable hours. There was something relaxing about sitting up in the early hours, looking out at mostly nothing and knowing his son was tucked up safe and warm at his grandma’s. Sure, Matt had to do the odd day shift to cover every now and then, but for the most part, he got to drop Charlie off at school and pick him up, and had the time and space to go to any sports days or assemblies he was a part of. It wasn’t the dream job, but it worked for his life and his commitments, and he wouldn’t change a thing for right now. The foxes kept him company at around midnight when they emerged from the nearby cluster of trees and bushes about a kilometre away from the car park, and he always had a section of his lunch reserved for when they’d given up on trying to grab scraps out of the industrial bins. Besides, Matt could always just spend time on his phone until one of the monitors in his cabin flicked on to indicate there was movement in the complex where there shouldn’t be -- there’d been instances where he’d managed an entire series on Netflix before clocking out in the morning, and only very few occasions where he’d had to get up and out to chase off a group of kids from climbing over the fence.

This particular night, though, was a slow one. The nearby wi-fi kept dropping out every now and again meaning he couldn’t stream a film to pass the time, and the foxes had apparently had a lie in given they hadn’t turned up yet when he checked his watch at a few minutes after midnight. Exhaling slowly, he couldn’t even text anyone in his contacts at this hour when they’d all be asleep or out clubbing and too pre-occupied to notice his message. He’d survived nights like this before though, and so long as he didn’t fall asleep, no one would mind that he was bored at work. The lack of movement or interest was starting to weigh on his eyes a little though, and eventually, he stood up to take a step out of the cabin, breathing in the much colder air and hoping it woke him up enough to find something to entertain himself with. There was stationary and a pack of cards in the drawer under his monitors, but he’d need a bit more brain power to consider those just yet, and opted to scroll his Facebook to try catch up on what the rest of his social life were getting up to.

Dal 28 al 30 marzo arriva LEBENSRAUM regia di Jakop Ahlbom, presentato per la prima volta in Italia alla Biennale di Venezia 2018. Lebensraum è teatro fisico con una punta di magia.

Il regista svedese Jakop Ahlbom, anche attore e acrobata, ha una grande passione per gli horror anni ’60 e le commedie anni ‘20.

Ahlbom porta la magia del muto su un palcoscenico teatrale con uno spettacolo divertente e brillante. Lebensraum (in italiano “spazio vitale”) si ispira all’universo di Buster Keaton e alla slapstick comedy e alle comiche dei pionieri del cinema come Stanlio e Ollio e Charlie Chaplin.

All’epoca, a fare da sottofondo alle proiezioni dei film c’era la musica di un pianoforte. Questo spettacolo sarà invece accompagnato dal gruppo Alamo Race Track: si crea così un originale e divertente contrasto tra le atmosfere visive anni Venti e la musica rock contemporanea. La storia racconta di due uomini che vivono in un piccolissimo appartamento.

Per risolvere il problema di uno spazio così stretto, i due hanno inventato mobili con una duplice funzione: il letto è anche un pianoforte, la libreria funge anche da frigorifero e così via … c’è tutto in casa, manca solo una donna. Decidono quindi di creare una bambola meccanica che li possa aiutare a svolgere i lavori domestici. Ma ben presto scoprono che la bambola pensa ed esprime opinioni e la loro vita viene spassosamente sconvolta.

La tensione sale tra i due sale, la stanza diventa sempre più piccola e il divertimento scoppia in sala grazie a gag irresistibili!

BIOGRAFIA

JAKOP AHLBOM

Jakop Ahlbom (1971) arrivò nei Paesi Bassi nei primi anni novanta, dove seguì il Mime Training ad Amsterdam. Nel 1998 ha ricevuto il Top Naeff Prizeper come lo studente più promettente. La giuria lo ha descritto come un talento desideroso, sorprendente ed esuberante.

Dopo la sua formazione, Jakop ha lavorato con vari produttori come Karina Holla , Roy Peters , Alex d’Electrique , De Daders , Nieuw West , De Groep van Steen , PeerGrouP / ZappSnacks, Orkater , Ro Theater (come coreografo) e Unique Affairs ( come regista). Nel 2000 ha realizzato la produzione di Stella Maris presso l’ Het Veem Theater.

Forgia il suo stile con elementi di mimo, teatro, danza, illusionismo e arriva così al suo linguaggio teatrale unico. Il lavoro di Ahlbom si concentra sulle persone che (spesso con difficoltà) si riferiscono a se stessi e al loro ambiente. A colorful, dynamic moving map incorporates key landmarks, such as airports, NAVAIDs, roads, bodies of water, cities and more, offering improved situational awareness. Dedicated Direct-to and Nearest buttons along the side of the bezel allows for immediate navigation commands. When D2 Charlie is paired with Garmin Connect™ on a connected mobile device, customers can view weather radar on top of the map display relative to flight plan information. To easily access local weather radar, pilots can simply press and hold the Direct-to and Down buttons. Lily knew she was taking her life in her hands by sneaking up on a security guard in the dead of night but it was probably more likely of Matt dying than her when he had a heart attack over the shock of her being there. The big coat she had on kept her from shivering as she walked across the land and her mind still drifted to the thought of texting him before she knocked, just wondering if it was the more polite thing to do. Lily had no idea if he had another guard inside or something but if he did, she’d come up with an excuse for her visit that didn’t sound weird in the moment and hope they believed it. As her hand tapped on the door, she couldn’t help but grin to herself, however she did take a small step back away from it just in case he did come out ready to brawl with whoever was on the other side. She expected to wait a while while he tried to wrap his head around somebody knocking for him, so when the door suddenly slowly started to open in front of her, she was surprised but relieved. Not getting immediately whacked with a torch or tackled to the ground was quite nice and as she took in the shock on his face, she chuckled, shrugging her shoulders. “I thought I’d come check out the foxy lady you spend all your nights with.” Lily replied with a smile, stepping into the cabin when he properly opened up the door and extended the invite. Her flask and bag probably gave away that she’d brought gifts but she held them up anyway in case he’d somehow missed them. “I brought hot chocolate and back up sausages in case you ran out.” She explained, setting the drink down on his table and the bag on his chair for a second so she could take off her coat now she was inside. “So, how’s it all going? Killed any criminals tonight?” Lily laughed, knowing he was probably still in shock.

The more Matt’s stable mind kicked in over the initial panic, the less immediately anxious he felt. If he were about to get mugged for the lot keys or attacked, he doubted the muggers would knock gently and politely to get his attention at the best of times, and so whoever had come to pay a visit had to either be a little bit drunk and lost, or genuinely looking for someone to ask him a question. Lily would have been the last person on his list though -- Charlie was more likely to have been on the other side, in fact -- so his eyes naturally widened a little at the surprise. She’d probably chosen the best night out of any to roll up unannounced though, so Matt didn’t mind giving her a grin and stepping aside to let her into the warmer space. “There’s a joke about it being a sausage-fest somewhere, but I can’t quite put my finger on it,” he chuckled, although he was genuinely humbled by her arrival. The flask of hot chocolate, whilst a welcome gesture, certainly wasn’t as good as her company, but he figured he could spare the detail for now on that one until she was too sleepy at five in the morning to remember much of what he’d say. In his haste to get her inside he’d forgotten there was only one chair on offer, and he quickly turned to try yank one of the old, less-stable folding chairs he’d wedged behind the desk at some point, kicking it open with a sturdy, forceful foot, and opting to take up residence on it himself rather than offering her the tacky one. Her question made him smile though, already reaching for the flask and pouring some out into the little mug it came topped with. “It’s about as fun as sitting on your own in the dark at midnight can be,” he mentioned, blowing on the hot liquid before taking a small sip. “No deaths or murders though, sorry,” Matt explained with a shake of his head, setting the cup down to let it cool a little more. “What about you, though? What possessed you to drive out here in the middle of the night when I explicitly told you not to?” he queried, the slightly chastising tone to his words belied by his weakly-hidden grin.
