got to chapter 8 (which I believe is where things diverge)!! anyway popping the biggest bottles cause all my theories regarding haru and miyuki have been proven correct so far.
#also!! miyuki!! i love her. glad we saved her.#that said very confused cause like… it seems?? we’re in the human world now???#they really went ‘home away from home’ is one of the most iconic digimon episodes we should include that (joke)#that said uh. does the time between digital world and human world work the same as adventure in this. cause if so.#YIKES MIYUKI…. like she was stuck in the digital world for like. what? about 60 human years (based off how old the professor is).#how many digital years is that?? man.#last but not least… I’m guessing based off what’s been shown so far that the big bad is apocalymon which. i guess is better than yggdrasil#which was my other guess. that said kinda wish it was something new. but also I get it. apocalymon makes sense as a villain. plus digimon#survive is meant to kinda be a more mature/dark take on the adventure premise so. i get it.#i will say one of my other guesses based on the mural was huanlongmon and like. against all odds I am still hoping that might be right. that#said that is probably just coping lol.#i mean come on… ruin mode is right there… please…#dramon thoughts#roseate plays survive#digimon survive spoilers#OH ALSO. i am doing harmony route btw.#i admittedly. am not looking forward to having to go through chapters 1-7 again for moral and wrathful. like they’re good but. this game is#very long.#probably gonna cheese it and just alternate between wrath and moral for every choice next run and then make a save at the start of 7 and#just choose all wrath or all moral to get each route from there#just so I don’t have to do those chapters. two more times.

YOU CAN HEAR THE WAY HIS BREATH HITCHED
he will basically be embarrassed to look at you for the rest of the day

it’s because he’s so in love with u
박 gunwook.
okay now we’re talking
who would resist holding that pretty face of his
literally no one
asks the most random questions cause he’s so flustered 😭
“are u hungry” “am i missing our anniversary”
okay… its not like yall couple and can hold each other any time without particular reason 💯
takes ur hands and just
kisses your every finger
he goes like thumb *kiss*

very cute baby
squish his cheeks
he would be so dramatic if you’d do that 😭
“stop” AND HOMEBOY WOULD JUST GIVE YOU A BLANK STARE

he’s just so surprised by the sudden touch and like
he doesn’t know how to react
his heart just goes boom boom boom boom but like one million times faster
and you can tell by the way his ears and cheeks turned bright pink
but this shade really suits him
so do it more often pls

Hello! Before I ask for this request I just wanted to apologize, I hope I’ll be able to make my requests more organized and shorter, so it’ll be easier to digest! And my time is Eastern Time Zone so yeah!
SAGAU + MODERN!TEEN!READER
Instead of asking for the usual Child!{Reader} who’s technically from another universe and fights monsters, I would like to request one where {Reader} was from our world, but is still around 13-14 years old
Also I would say that {Reader} had just began to play the game, so they would barley understand how the world works when they were Isekai’ed into said game—while panicking at the same time because oh my god they’re in a game—But they have school tomorrow, and their homework!
When {Reader} descends to Teyvat they go through the whole “Oh my god the Creator!” From characters and endless praise, with only confusion on their part—
But while they question their life choices—they also decide to interact more with most of the characters, as they begin to question how this magical world exactly works
Of course people like the Archons were confused on why you seemed like you had forgotten all about your creation of Teyvat and that you came back in the body of a child—though they decided to put off those thoughts for now as they explained Elements like Geo, Pyro, Dendro—you get the idea [though I myself barely know what half of those powers or called or how they work]
I headcannon that in Teyvat—while they seem far advanced despite being thousands of years younger than {Reader}’s world, I feel like in certain areas of study like Medical and Science is often ignored
Of course not fully ignored but is far underdeveloped [Unless I’m completely incorrect than just ignore this whole ask I guess💀] since in Genshin you can easily cook up foods that have odd healing abilities, even to the point of reviving dead people [If we’re sticking to game lore even when {Reader} arrived in Genshin] people have Visions which allow them to wield powers to let them heal or harm things, and this also goes for the statues of ‘The Seven’ that can heal your party
And I would suspect that they wouldn’t know too much info on things like cells, atoms, energy and more [Ex. Water is made up of H2o, but in Genshin water is water and also used for Hydro] or how their Medical equipment would be like as advanced only up to like the 40-60’s in {Reader}’s world, and only have basic medicines and cures—since humans exist in Genshin and they most likely don’t have powers from what I know
So to say the least {Reader} would be confused and questioning everything about Teyvat and how it works
Like when the Archons explained elemental powers {Reader} would question if some powers branch off of others, and if {Reader} accidentally taking it literally—like they think that Electro was actually summoned from the clouds, so they’re like “Oh so Electro is made from Pyro and Anemo?” And when the Archons are like: “?? Wha—“ And {Reader} is gonna be like ‘🤓👆’ “Because thunder is when the lightning channel’s temperature reaches up to 50,000 degrees Fahrenheit which immediately after the air cools it down and caused the sound of thunder from the rapid contractions. So Electro would be made from Pyro and Anemo—right?” [Yes I had to look that up to write that, I don’t even know if that’s correct—]
And after that the Archons just look at {Reader} like they’re crazy but also very worried for them
Soon a few characters, who probably are smart—at least in Teyvat they would be considered would approach {Reader} with questions about science and more, thinking that since {Reader} is the Creator they would obviously know more, and would basically treat their knowledge like the greatest gift they’ve ever received
And just imagine a scenario where {Reader} gathers a group of characters [Which you can pick who would want to learn more] who are interested enough in science to want to learn more, as {Reader} pulled out their phone—which somehow teleported with them to Genshin, as they play a YT video about Life Science, and after the video ends the characters are amazed and in awe, as one speaks on how this has to be the most informative piece of film, and how many scientists must have had to research for this video— and {Reader} is just like “This video is made for like 11 year olds to learn” and the characters are like “Wha-“
And a lot of times people like Tighnari [who I think would be interested enough] would spend time with {Reader} by listening them ramble about Life Science
I feel like {Reader} would be really interested in characters who have inhuman characteristics—especially the ones with animal ears and tails
Like when {Reader} first met Kirara they found Kirara’s toe beans adorable, and was amazed by her two tails
And {Reader} would pet Gorou if he let them [Of course he would since {Reader} is the Creator🙄/j]
Aswell as when {Reader} met Sara they were really interested in her wings and asked if they were real and if they worked
And another scenario where it’s late and an Archon[of your choice] goes to the depths of the Avidya Forest where Tighnari resides, since they had dropped {Reader} off there to spend time with him, and they find {Reader} and him in his hut/house, with him sitting on the ground while {Reader} had gloves on and was in the middle of piercing his ears—Tighnari just gives the Archon a little wave, while {Reader} happily talks about putting little ropes in the holes where they pierced his ears so they can go out and get earrings for him tomorrow!
That’s all I request! I hope it was easier to read this time! Have a good day!

Teen Creator Isekei Adventures
When they see you
Everyone across Teyvat was awaiting the return of their beloved Creator. There were many artist who have drawn depictions of the Creator over the centuries by now they get to see what you look llike. The archons are the ones who will greet you. They weren't expecting a teenager by they can work with it.
The reacts are mixed. Some are filled with joy and don't notice the fact that their God is a teenager, some brush it off, and some are worried/ wondering if it's like how Nahida was born after Rukkhadevata's death. They all notice one thing, and it is that you seem to be freaking out.
Everyone tries to comfort you, and try to figure out why you keep mentioning home work and school, you're a god you know ow everything.
Having world mechanics explained + Life Science
Well, they're a bit worried that you seem to have forgotten that fact that you created everything. So when the archons, shcolars, historians, etc sit you down and explain stuff to you they hope it makes sense. You then hit them with this.
"Oh so Electro is made from Pyro and Anemo?” you ask.
They'll all very confused because what are you talking about and they ask you to explain.
“Because thunder is when the lightning channel’s temperature reaches up to 50,000 degrees Fahrenheit which immediately after the air cools it down and caused the sound of thunder from the rapid contractions. So Electro would be made from Pyro and Anemo—right?”
They still don't understand but a few such as Tighnari, Xianyun, Alhaitham, Albedo, Surcorse, Layla, and literally any character who can be affectionately be classified as a nerd.
When you find that your phone, not only came with you but that it also still worked you get an idea.
In the halls of the Akademiya you pull out your phone, go onto YouTube and play the first video you can find about Life Science.
They enjoy it a lot more then you thought they would. Thye all praise how much research went into his amazing piece of film and you responded with.
“This video is made for like 11 year olds to learn”
This confused them but they still enjoyed it, especially Tighnari.
Ears, toe beans, tails, and wings
When you learn Kirara has toe beans, your next course of action is to walk unto her after her work day ends and ask her if you can touch them. She is shocked at first but let's you touch them. Did you know that cat claws are retractable? And that pushing slightly on toe beans causes the class to come out, well you do now. You put a little pressure on Kirar's toe beans to watch her claws go in and out. Then you ask her if you can touch her ears and tail, to which she lets you. She blushes as you fawn over her two tails. She also tries to answer your questions about how she has two tails.
Gorou would blush a bit when you ask if you can pet his ears. Under his tough general facade he is a good boy it needed headpats. He blushes the whole time you pet his ears. When you get close to his tail though... in the words of Kuzco.
"No touchy! no touchy! no touch."
He keeps his tail away from you. It's very sensitive and he just doesn't like people touching his tail.
While expressionless on the outside, Sara smiles on the inside everything you fawn over her wings and ask her many questions about them. She doesn't mind you asking questions, but she doesn't let you touch them.
Adventures in the Avidya Forest feat. Tighnari
After your Life Science stunt in the Akademiya Tighnari was genuinely curious about you knowledge, because he is a curious fox boy.
The archons think you need to de social in order to grow into a well rounded god. Well, at least Nahida thought so. When your life science stunt was over Tighnari asked if you would like to come to Gandharva Ville with him.
You said yes and he let your rant about life science. Now everyone you go to Sumeru it is a priority to visit Toghnari. The archons thought this friendship was cute while some people were jealous.
One day Zhongli dropped you off at Tighnari's and told you two to have fun. You two were having the best time two people could have. As night came Zhongli went to puck you up. He walked in and saw you, with gloves, trying times piece Tighnari's ears. Tighnari waves at Zhongli. Zhongli sighs and tells you it's time to go home. You say no and that you need to finish Tighnari's ears. Zhongli offers to let Tignari stay the night with you two, and then will help him find a good place for ear piercing. You both agree and have an awesome sleep over.

Broken Machinery
Intermission
To be read after part five
Series masterlist
Connor RK800 x fem!reader
Tumblr media
“Oh, no.”
“Is something wrong, detective?”
“Yeah, something’s wrong.” You didn’t wait for Connor to open your door, you got out of the car and began heading towards where Hank was sitting. Connor closed the car door behind him and followed after you.
You hesitated behind the Lieutenant, your hand hovering over his shoulder as you stood behind the bench. You stood like that for a minute before you finally dropped your hand and turned around. There was a defeated slope to your shoulders as you sat down on the roundabout, staring out at nothing.
Connor kept an eye on you while he walked over to the Lieutenant, there was already an empty bottle beside him, and he was starting on a new one. “Nice view, huh? I used to come here a lot before…” He paused, “You remember that, Y/N?”
Your voice was quiet, barely louder than the falling snow. “Yeah, I remember.” Connor looked between the two of you, neither of you were very interested in the idea of ‘opening up.’ However, the Lieutenant had been drinking, perhaps he would be more loose-tongued.
“Before what?”
“Hm?”
“You said, ‘I used to come here a lot before.’ Before what?”
Hank stared down into the bottle, slowly swirling it before taking another sip. “Before… Before nothin’.” Your foot scraped across the ground as you twirled yourself slightly on the roundabout. Your posture was closed off, not defensive, just closed off. He would have no luck with you.
Connor figured now would be a good time to ask the LIeutenant a question that had been bothering him. While things were obviously tense, there was a tranquility on the bridge that Connor rarely experienced around Hank.
“Can I ask you a personal question, Lieutenant?”
Hank turned towards Connor, “Do all androids ask so many personal questions or is it just you?”
Connor didn’t think Hank would appreciate the truth behind his desired answer to that question. Plus, you had warned him recently to keep any thoughts that had been causing conflicts in his software to himself, that it would be safer for him.
“I saw a photo of the detective and a young child in her bedroom.” Hank turned around and gave you a long look when Connor mentioned that he was in your bedroom. His brows were furrowed when he turned back to Connor. “The boy, it was your son, right?”
“Yeah… His name was Cole.” Connor already knew that, but telling the Lieutenant that wouldn’t do any good. “And the girl in the picture had been my daughter, not anymore.” Connor turned towards you at the sound of a sniffle, but your back was to the both of them as you had spun to the opposite side of where they were standing. He could vaguely make out the shape of your shoulders shaking through the snow.
Connor needed something else to think about, his humans were too emotional, too complicated. It was in turn making his mission more complicated. “We’re not making any progress on this investigation… The deviants have nothing in common. They’re all different models, produced at different times, in different places.”
Hank didn’t seem truly interested in what Connor had to say, but he entertained his musings nonetheless. “Well, there must be some link.”
Your voice was still quiet, but you spoke up loud enough for both of them to hear, “rA9,” Connor waited a moment to see if you wanted to elaborate on your thoughts. You remained silent.
“They do share a similar obsession, it’s almost as if it’s a myth. Or a god to them. Like it’s something they invented that wasn’t part of their original program.”
“Androids believing in God… Fuck, what’s this world coming to?”
“You seem preoccupied, Lieutenant… Is it something to do with what happened back at the Eden Club?” Your head perked up slightly in the background and you angled yourself so you could hear their conversation more clearly. It seemed his actions at the club hadn’t confused only him.
“Those two girls, they just wanted to be together… They really seemed in love,” the idea appeared to distress the Lieutenant.
“They can simulate human emotions, but they’re machines. And machines don’t feel anything,” perhaps reminding the Lieutenant of that fact would ease his troubles and make him a more agreeable partner. Towards both Connor and you.
“What about you, Connor?” You had finally made your way over to the bench, keeping a clear distance between yourself and the Lieutenant.
The Lieutenant finished his drink and stood from the bench, “Yeah, you look human, you sound human, but what are you really?” Both pairs of eyes were boring intently into his.
Whatever he said next could make or break the trust he had been building back up, he looked towards you. He knew what you wanted to hear, he knew exactly what to say that would make you warm up to him again. But he had promised, he had promised to be honest and not to manipulate your emotions.
For some reason that meant something to him.
So, he went with what he felt was the truth. “You know exactly what I am.” Your face dropped and Hank’s got angrier. “In any case, I don’t see how that’s relevant to the investigation.”
“You could have shot those two girls-“
“But you didn’t.” It was a bit unnerving to have you and the Lieutenant finishing each other's thoughts. Perhaps this is a method you used on perps when you interrogated them, corner them and trap them into the truth.
“Why didn’t you shoot, Connor?” Hank shoved him back and you stepped forward, stopping yourself for a moment and letting everything play out. “Hm? Some scruples suddenly enter into your program?”
He looked towards you again, you had moved a step closer. He could practically see what you were thinking.
Tell the truth. Please.
“No… I just decided not to shoot, that’s all…”
“Oh, Connor,” he thought you would be happy, he told the truth. Instead you seemed incredibly sad and he didn’t like that. Your eyes widened and then your eyebrows turned down in anger at the sight of Hank pulling his gun. “Hank, what the hell are you doing?”
He ignored you, seemingly having only enough mental capacity to focus on one thing, Connor. “But, are you afraid to die, Connor?”
“I would certainly find it regrettable to be… interrupted… before I can finish this investigation.”
You were slowly moving closer to the two trying to figure out how to stop Hank. “Put the gun down.”
“What will happen if I pull this trigger? Hm? Nothing? Oblivion? Android Heaven?”
The idea of Android heaven was preposterous, but that wouldn’t get Hank to put the gun down. He needed to do it soon as you seemed ready to jump in between the two of them. “Where does all this anger come from, Lieutenant? Some unresolved trauma in your past?” He knew the answer, it was Cole and whatever had caused the rift between you two.
“Connor, stop.” You had stopped trying to intervene now, staring at him with hurt swirling in your eyes.
“You think you’re so fucking smart,” his finger tightened on the trigger. “Always one step ahead, huh? Tell me this, smart ass… How do I know you’re not a deviant? The way you hover around Y/N, your mercy towards those two girls back there…”
“I self-test regularly, I know what I am and what I am not.”
That wasn't truly an answer but it seemed to work for the Lieutenant. His hand shook before the gun fell back to his side. Hank moved back towards the bench, picking up another bottle.
You watched him walk away, “Where are you going?”
“To get drunker… I need to think.” Both you and Connor watched him get in his car and drive away.
You rocked back on your feet and tucked your hands in your pockets.
“Guess we’re walking home.”
Tumblr media
“DAD!”
You couldn’t see.
Why couldn’t you see?
There was a red film over your eyes and when you went to rub it away, you couldn’t move. There was something digging in your cheek, glass judging from the pile of it next to your face. What was going on?
You don’t remember what happened, the last thing you remember was getting into a fight with Hank about joining the force. He didn’t want you to, he thought it was too dangerous.
And then there was something loud.
A scream
You screamed
Why?
Because there was a noise, an awful noise, like metal scraping on pavement.
What the hell happened?
“Cole! Cole, wake up!”
Your hands were pinned under your body, half of you was on asphalt, and when you tilted your head down you saw your legs on the grass. There was a strange warmth running down your face, you could see bone sticking out of your calf and blood pooling beneath it.
There was a strange calmness as you tried to move your legs and failed. In the back of your mind you knew that wasn’t good, that your life was about to be changed forever. But you couldn’t break through the fog in your mind long enough to freak out.
You lifted your hand and dragged your arms out from underneath you, your skin catching on the pavement. There were two shapes in front of you in the middle of the road. Your vision was still blurry but you could recognize the close cut hair of your dad, and he was holding something small in his arms.
It wasn’t moving, you felt like it should be.
There were bright lights and smoky smells surrounding you, hands were tugging at your arms, but all you could see was the stillness in Hank’s arms. The small shape that should be moving, but wasn’t.
Again that small voice in your head was screaming, in pain or in anger, you weren’t sure.
Nothings ever gonna be the same, is it?
Tumblr media
“Y/N! Y/N!” Your hand lashed out, and connected with something hard.
It was hard to see in the dark, but you could make out the vague shape of Connor standing in front of your bed. “Connor?” Your voice was hoarse from being quiet for so long.
“You were having a nightmare,” he reached out and turned your lamp back on. Your eyes momentarily closed from the shock of the brightness. “Are you okay, you sounded upset?”
You sat up on your bed, your head in your hands, the dream slowly coming back to you. “It was that night.” Connor’s jacket was gone, his sleeves rolled up. Normally the sight would have made you a little irrational but you were still feeling emotionally wrecked.
He sat next to you on the bed, “What night?” There was a comforting hand on your shoulder, his thumb moving in slow circles as he worked to calm you down.
You could barely hear your own voice as you whispered, “The night Cole died.”
Tumblr media
“Why can’t I feel my legs?”
“Please try and remain calm-”
“Where’s my dad? My little brother was with us. Have you found him? Are they okay?!”
The MP600 paramedic stared down at you blankly, it’s human counterpart looked worried as he wrapped the gash on your leg. “Answer me god dammit! Why won’t you look at me?”
The paramedic’s movements stopped for a moment and he looked at you, finally. You immediately wished he hadn’t, you wished he would just go back to pretending you didn’t exist. You knew the answer by the look in his eyes.
The look that told you he’s had to break this type of news to someone one too many times, there was no hope, no light, nothing there to comfort you as you rode to the hospital, silently sobbing into your hands from both pain and anguish.
Tumblr media
Words were going in and out of your head, the sound of the heart monitor was background noise to the doctor speaking to you. You still hadn’t seen Dad, or Carla, or Cole.
No one was there to hold your hand as you were told you might never walk again.
That a nerve had been damaged in your spine that might result in lifelong paralysis.
Tumblr media
“Y/N? Y/N!” Carla rushed into the room, sweeping you into a hug. You ignored the pain in your ribs and the clear absence of pain in your legs as you returned the embrace ten-fold. “Oh god, I was so worried, no one’s telling me anything. I wasn’t even sure you were alive until an android told me where you were.”
You were crying into her shoulder, so grateful for a familiar face that wasn’t a cold doctor or a frantic nurse.
“Where’s dad, is he okay? Cole?” Carla pulled back, brushing some stray hairs from your forehead as tears lined her eyes.
“Your dad’s okay, he’s just getting patched up. Cole,” her voice broke and your heart crumpled. “Cole’s in surgery, they have an android working on him. On my son.”
Disbelief colored your features and you could hear your heartbeat pick up on the machine. “What, why?”
She shook her head and went back to tenderly brushing the hair out of your eyes.
Carla had came into your life after Hank, she’d cared for you and you loved her but she’d never been your mother. Now her only child was in the hands of something that wasn’t alive, it couldn’t feel empathy. If it failed its mission it wouldn't keep pushing to save Cole like a human might, it would simply give up.
There was a horrible feeling in your gut, burning and twisting around your insides until you became physically ill. You threw up all over yourself. Carla rubbed your back as the nurses came in and cleaned up. You held each other as you both cried.
It wasn’t until Hank walked in did you realize just how worried you had been for him.
“Dad,” his eyes were vacant as he walked into your room. There was no relief like there was with Carla, he stared straight through you. “Dad?”
He shook his head, an empty smile on his face. “Hey, kiddo.” The nickname felt wrong, sounded fake. He just stood in the doorway of your hospital room.
“Hank, what are you doing?” Carla seemed to pick up on the strange behavior too. He stared at you a moment longer, there was a gash across his eye and a bandage wrapped around his arm.
It seemed he’d escaped unharmed compared to you and Cole.
The thought came with such a burning amount of rage and hatred it startled you.
Hank walked out of the room, “Hank!” Carla looked at you, giving your hand a comforting squeeze. “I’ll be right back honey.” You didn’t see either of them for another four hours.
Tumblr media
“I’ll never forget the sound of her cry, Connor. It echoes around in my mind when everything’s too quiet.”
His hand squeezed yours as he pulled you into his side.
Tumblr media
There was a strange wailing, the noise woke you up. It ripped through the hospital and shook its foundation. Your entire body stilled at the raw visceral pain in the noise. It was terrifying, like you were being held down by some unknown force as you tried to get up.
Then you remembered, your legs were the deadweight holding you down. The thought left you choking back a sob.
Why could you still feel an ache in them, an itch you couldn’t scratch?
There was another horrible noise and you finally forced yourself to roll over. There was a wheelchair waiting for you next to the bed, you almost threw up at the thought of having to use it. Something stopped you from completely flopping off the bed.
You ripped the IV out, “Fuck!” That looks so much less painful in the movies.
You put the guard rail down and finally managed to get into the wheelchair. Your arms were still sore from the impact they took, you pushed through it as you rolled down the hall.
Your room was close enough to the waiting room that it didn’t take too long to see who had been screaming. The entire time your heart was begging you to turn back around, to just get back in bed and rot there. That, that would be better than whatever you were about to see.
Some nights, you wished you had listened.
Carla was on her knees, clutching onto Hank as the doctor spoke in low tones. You barely held back the bile at the sight of their faces.
Hank, you’d never seen him like that before, so lost, so unsure of himself. Like every grain of goodness and light and hope inside him had just been ripped out and run over.
Carla was a shrieking animal on the floor. You knew what that meant.
Cole was gone.
Tumblr media
“My condolences,” you nodded, eyes on your hands so you didn’t have to look into the eyes of whoever was mourning. You couldn’t do it anymore, you couldn’t deal with the pity as they looked at your wheelchair and then at your father who was still sitting in the pews, bottle in hand.
You felt hands on your shoulders and looked up, Carla’s once kind eyes, now sad, were staring down at you. “It’s time.” You nodded and she started rolling you towards the taxi waiting at the curb.
Time to bury your baby brother.
Time to bury your heart.
TIme for the final nail on the coffin of what used to be a happy family.
Tumblr media
“He was the best thing that ever happened to me,” Hank’s eyes found yours from where he was giving his speech.
The bottle had been disposed of before he joined you in the taxi. You didn’t know if his eyes were red from the drink or from the tears currently pouring out.
“He was so young, so much potential and it was just ripped away from us! From me.” You looked away, wiping your eyes. “How dare you?”
Your head shot up, looking for who he was talking to. You would assume God, if it didn’t sound so pointed. “How dare you sit there and fucking cry?”
No, please no.
He was staring at you, finger pointed at you. “You’re alive and hes dead and you’re fucking crying?!”
“Hank, that’s enough.” He shoved Jeffery off of him, if he wasn’t mourning, the captain probably would have taken his badge.
“No! He’s gone because of you! And you sit there crying like you have any right too?” There were gasps going around the people surrounding the coffin. You and Carla were the only ones who weren’t surprised.
You’d heard this drunken rage a hundred times since the night of the accident.
Hank stumbled towards you, “I wish you had been the one who died.”
Your chest caved in and your heart shattered at your feet. The rest of the funeral was a high-ringing blur of pain.
Tumblr media
Carla didn’t stay long. You didn’t blame her.
But you didn’t have the luxury of leaving.
Your admittance letter to the academy stared at you every morning as you wheeled yourself into the bathroom. For months you stewed in misery and depression, you didn’t go to PT and you cried yourself to sleep every night as you heard Hank’s drunken raging outside your room.
Sumo would climb in your bed and snuggle you on the really hard nights.
The only reason you kept going was because if you died no one else would be there to love him or feed him.
You wondered sometimes, if it was your fault. Had you really been so distracting when you were arguing with Hank that he had crashed?
Had it not been for you making him pick you up from a friend's house right after Cole’s karate lesson, they wouldn’t have been on that road.
Maybe things would be better off without you.
Tumblr media
“Get up!” A pillow hit you in the head, you buried your face further into your sheets, now more used to the dead weight beneath your waist. Another pillow, a familiar scent attached to this one.
“Carla?”
“That’s right, get your ass up.” Hank must be gone, he’d gone back to work a little while ago, it meant you had the mornings to yourself. You sat up and stared at her in wonder.
Carla had helped you for as long as she stayed, picking you up off the floor when you couldn’t make it onto the toilet in time. Bathed you and helped you get fed. After she had left there were a lot of humiliating mornings of sitting in your own filth because you hadn’t been able to get on and off the toilet on your own.
You’d stopped trying after a while, just held it until it was too painful to keep it in. Stopped eating and drinking. You knew you looked awful, hair unwashed, and barely any meat left on your bones.
“Ay dios mio,” Carla sat down and clutched you to her chest, embracing you despite the stink and the lack of enthusiasm on your side.
Eventually you managed enough strength to hug her back, the moment a painful reminder of the night your life ended.
Tumblr media
“Carla took me to physical therapy, helped me find a place on my own and figure out how to navigate my new life.” Your hand was holding Connor’s, you had been tracing shapes on it for a while now as you spoke.
He was just staring at you, letting you talk it all out. “She helped me find a therapist, a lot of my physical problems were the result of mental blocks. That’s not to say I was magically healed once I realized I was traumatized, it was at least a year before I could stand with support.”
Tumblr media
“Where are you going?” Hank was sober, rare these days.
You had borrowed Carla’s van, she’d left an hour ago knowing Hank would be home soon. A box was in your lap as you wheeled yourself to the door, Hank was standing there, Sumo’s tail wagging happily beneath him.
You could feel your face drain of color as you stared up at him. This was your last box and you’d really been hoping you would be able to get Carla’s van out of the driveway before he got home. “Um, I’m leaving.”
Hank closed the door behind him, you cried internally, knowing this would go bad. He threw his jacket on the table, his bag landing next to it. He reached for a glass and you started wheeeling yourself backwards, but he only got some water from the tap.
“Was that Carla’s car outside?”
Your throat felt like sandpaper while you answered, “Yeah, she took me to physical therapy today, said I could borrow it. Self-driving, so I don’t have to worry about the pedals.” He already knew that, but you needed to say something to fill the silence.
“How’s that going, the physical therapy?”
“Fine.”
This house is no longer a home.
The thought nearly had you doubled over in grief. You didn’t think it was possible to lose so much in one night, but you should know better. It had already happened to you once.
Maybe Hank was right, maybe you were a curse, a burden on any family you were involved with. Everyone you loved was doomed to die or leave.
“I’m getting some feeling in my leg’s back. I can stand for about thirty seconds,” he turned back towards you, arms crossed and staring down at you. He hadn’t shaved in a while and his hair was starting to grow out of its usually cropped style. He was gaining weight too.
“Thirty seconds?”
You flushed, feeling the need to defend yourself, “It’s a lot for someone who was never supposed to walk again.”
He nodded and the silence suffocated you. He was only twenty feet from you but he felt miles away. Like there was a never ending divide between the two of you. “I’m moving out.” You needed this to be done. You’d survived this heartbreak before, you would do it again.
His gaze shot back to yours, “What?”
The hurt in his voice made you wish you had delivered the news more gently. “I found a place, it’s only a couple minutes away, rents cheap-”
“You don’t even have a job.”
“Fowler helped me out, he’s letting me do some filing before I can retake the academy’s exam.” If I can retake the academy’s exam. Recovery wasn’t promised. “It’s enough for food and rent.”
“Were you going to tell me?” Were you? You had been planning on just leaving a note and going.
“I didn’t think you’d care,” Hank scoffed and this time the glass he filled was with whiskey. By the time he turned around you had already left, the last of your things packed away in the car. You’d seen him running out onto the driveway as the car had taken you to your new home.
There was a painful chasm in your heart at the sight of him watching you leave.
Tumblr media
“I walked today, on my own, I didn’t have to use the bars or anything.” Your fingers fiddled with the edge of your comforter as you spoke to Carla. “I still feel like it’s not enough.”
“Más vale maña que fuerza, your physical body is not more important than your spirit, Y/N. If you can’t celebrate the small victories you're never going to heal. That’s a lot. I’m proud of you.”
There were tears in your eyes and a thickness in your throat as you said goodbye and hung up.
Fowler had been keeping you and Hank as separated as possible, different shifts, different days. But there was still the rare interaction. The both of you in the kitchen at the same time for coffee, Hank having to witness Gavin’s horrible attempts at flirting.
Sometimes when Gavin would give you a particularly bad pick-up line you and Hank would share a look that made your chest ache with a phantom pain of when you could laugh together about things like that.
He looked pained every time he saw your cane.
Tumblr media
“On my honor, I will never betray my integrity, my character or the public trust. I will always have the courage to hold myself and others accountable for our actions. I will always maintain the highest ethical standards and uphold the values of my community, and the agency I serve.”
Carla was waiting for you with flowers after you were sworn in. She took you out to dinner and tried to distract you so you wouldn’t notice who was missing. She’d said goodnight and dropped you back at the station so you could grab your stuff and get your car.
“You did it.” Hank was waiting at your desk, his coat in his hands.
“I did.”
“I’m,” sorry? Proud of me? You were honestly getting pissed off he was even talking to you. Months of radio silence and now, now, on your big night he wants to talk.
“Congratulations.”
You scoffed, “Thanks, your heartfelt words mean so much to me, dad.” Perhaps it was cruel, perhaps you were being petty. You didn’t care, he was reopening the wound in your heart and it was weeping.
You’d worked so hard and for so long to heal yourself, you wouldn’t have him ruining that progress for you simply because he was, what? Bored? Trying to ease some guilt?
“Hey, I’m trying, okay?” Fuck that and fuck him.
“Damage is done Hank, too little too late. I’m done with you. You turned into the person you saved me from.” Maybe that was too much, comparing him to the abusive shitbag that was your foster father. You told yourself you didn’t care, but the tears in your eyes at the sight of his distraught expression betrayed you.
He walked away and while you were weak and in pain Gavin had appeared, asking if you were okay.
You weren’t proud of what you did that night with him, of what you gave to him.
Tumblr media
“Hank? Hello?”
You’d made detective today, and Fowler, in his limited wisdom, thought Hank would be a good partner.
You know it hurt for him to see his best friend change so much, but seriously?
Hank?
“You used to call me dad, you know that?”
Drunk. Again. Why’d he call you?
Why did you come?
“Come on, up you go.” You helped him to his feet and managed to get him to the couch before you collapsed under his weight.
“When’d you stop being my little girl?”
Your heart clenched, but it was a distant pain, not as bad as it used to be. “When you stopped being my dad.”
Hank swung out in a dramatic gesture, just barely missing you, “That’s ridiculous. I never stopped, you, you’re not the same anymore.” You could say the same, but there’s no point in arguing with him when he’s like this. He leaned in close, examining your features. “You’re not her. You’re not my daughter, she died. She’s gone. This person, this you, I hate. I hate you because of what you took from me.”
There were tears clawing their way up your throat. Yet you still untied his shoes and grabbed him a blanket.
You still took care of him.
“Get out! Get out of my house! It’s your fault they’re gone, I don’t want you around!” He threw his bottle, it just barely missed your head. Sumo started barking and he started grabbing more things to throw. You ran out the door, his drunken screams still following you.
You ran and you kept running.
At least you could do that.
Tumblr media
“I’m sorry.”
“Forget it.”
A/N: Is she talking to Connor, or to Hank?

your heart’s on my horizon - 1.8k
“And you don’t know what kind of curse?” Lucifer runs a hand through his hair anxiously. You stir slightly but still do not wake.
“We’ve got it narrowed down. Nothing too harmful, at least for demons, but the main concern is that we’re not sure how it’ll interact with a human. We’re just waiting for MC to wake at this point.”
Lucifer crouches down, examining your face closely. At least you don’t look like you’re in pain. Removing a glove, he presses the back of his hand to your forehead. It’s as he’s doing this that your eyes flutter open, taking him in.
“MC?” he asks panickedly, and Diavolo hurries closer, leaning over you as well. “Are you alright?”
“Oh, I’m more than alright,” you say, sitting up. “Now that you’re here, Lucifer, I’m perfect.”

“We’ll always be together, right?” you asked, clasping his hand softly.
“Of course,” Lucifer replied with ease, flipping your hand over so he could hold it for real. “Nothing in this world could ever take me from you.”
Oh, how those words played in his head when he fell, your tear-stained face the last thing he had seen. Your hand, reaching futilely for him, even as you were pulled back by several other angels.

stepping into the hall, he clicks on mammon’s contact, holding his phone to his ear. it rings several times, but just as he thinks it’s going to go to voicemail, his younger brother picks up.
“lucifer!” mammon says. “oh thank god. i was just about to call ya!” mammon’s voice is loud, nervous. something is definitely wrong. why would mammon be calling him?
“what’s the matter?” lucifer asks, a bad feeling unfurling in his chest.
“it’s about mc,” mammon says, grave. “they got into an accident, and are in the hospital. i was gonna call ya sooner but satan said i should wait ‘till the doctor told us what was goin’ on.”
“what? mammon, what happened? are they okay?”
mammon hesitates. “they’re not in any immediate danger,” he hedges, and lucifer growls. “okay, okay. they’re in a coma, caused by the exertion of magical energy-”
“magical energy?” lucifer exclaims, but mammon barrels on.
“-but it’s estimated they’re not in any danger,” mammon continues, “we just don’t know when they’ll wake up yet. ‘pparently some lower-level dirtbags got brave due to your absence and decided to ‘purify the devildom once more.’” lucifer could hear the disgust in his voice.

selfish, for once - 18k
Mammon… is not what you were expecting. Instead of some horrific creature, you’re met with a pretty normal-looking guy, all things considered. Sure, he’s got horns and wings, but that’s it. Oh. He has abs, too. So horns, wings, and very prominent abs.
“My name is MC,” you say bravely, looking very intently at his eyes, which are an inhumane blue. “And I summoned you. I wish to make a pact.”
“A pact?” Mammon squawks, confusing you. “That’s what you were tryin’ to do?”
You raise a brow. “Yes?”
Mammon curses, slipping into the rough tones of the underworld. “A goddamn pact. Shit.” Shaking his head roughly, he fixes you with a hard look. “Hate to break it to you, Sweetcheeks, but you fucked up.”
“What?” You squint at him. “No. No way. I followed all of the instructions perfectly.”
“And there’s your problem. Whoever told you that was a pact spell was lyin to you.” Mammon seems genuinely distressed, and you feel very out of your element.
“Well then, what kind of spell was it?”
Mammon winces like he was hoping you weren’t going to ask. “It’s a, uh, binding spell. We’re bound together now. Our souls are, for a lack of a better term, intertwined.”

Alone for the holidays? Mad at your family? Hire me to ruin the night.
I am a human magic user that has recently had a lot of time open up to me with nothing to fill it. Why not use this time in a meaningful way? I asked myself, before dismissing the idea. I’m a young adult willing to pretend to be your date for any holiday dinner or party.
Thanks to my magic, I can play any age, except child (for obvious reasons), and have no problem changing my appearance as need be. I am a skilled actor and promise to sell my character well. Your satisfaction is guaranteed.
I revel in causing chaos and making things worse.
I require no payment aside from the free meal. This offer is available to anyone in any of the three realms, as I have experience dealing with an assortment of humans, angels, and demons. Do NOT contact me with unsolicited offers or services.

"let’s get out of here,” you say one day, in the wake of an explosive argument between the brothers that left mammon nearly in tears.
“what?” he says, tilting his head towards you. “just- drive?”
“yeah. we’ll come back eventually, but let’s just go somewhere that’s not here.” mammon doesn’t look quite convinced, so you double down, pleading with him. “i’ll take all of the blame and everything. please mammon, i just want to explore some.”
“lucifer’ll kill us.”
“not if he can’t find us,” you say with more cheekiness than you feel, making mammon snort half-heartedly. “c’mon,” you wheedle, “just the two of us, complete freedom, no tasks, no chores-”
“fine,” mammon agrees, and you grin. you feel impulsive and wild, the wanderlust already taking over. “let’s do it.”

“MC. I know you want to do something for Mammon’s birthday.”
“How do you-”
“All-seeing time lord, remember?” His tone held a note of humor. “Anyway, I have a plan. There is a car in the parking lot of the school, that has swimming suits, a picnic, and everything you’d need for the beach.”
“Diavolo’s?”
“Yes. Now, as a responsible person, I shouldn’t be suggesting you skip school, but I also know Mammon is deeply upset, and the sooner you head out the better. You will know the car when you see it. It is by the back of the lot.” Barbatos gave you a small smile.

Before the boxes can fully tip over, you feel the top one getting lifted, a tanned arm entering your vision.
“Whoah,” the stranger says, and you shift the boxes remaining, moving them out of your way. Without the box that had been on top, it’s much easier for you to get a handle on everything. “Careful there,” he continues once you’re finally able to see him, and you have to adjust where you’re looking because seriously, this guy is way taller than you expected.

supernatural s13e1 lost and found (w. andrew dabb)
metallica's nothing else matters for the road so far recap? mmmk. i loved the black album.* it's in my big playlist right now! and nothing else matters was very teen angst sad boy shit appropriate for me (album came out when i was 11 and i remember it featuring at middle school dances) but this song is way too downtempo for the clips/editing as it progresses before we get to the loud parts. weird choice. and maybe shows do this all the time and it's not with songs i know well enough to notice, but splitting the song up midway through is very jarring. i get cutting down the long instrumental intro, but segueing into lyrics differently? buh. stranger things did it with atmosphere by joy division and it wasn't terrible, but noticeable. but the scene/song combo was so impactful to me i didn't care because i was a mess
the overriding theme here with this song and clip selection is like 🚨FAMILY 🚨okay bro, i get it. calm down. is this why i see people harping on how the show is about family, not just sam and dean? is this gonna be A Thing? or am i projecting? both?? i have literally nothing else i might want do if i don't watch this. but i also don't really want to watch this. sigh.
and now i'm all distracted by them using some new fancy filming technique while they're driving where they're being paced and we're seeing the conversation from the outside and it was cool at first but it keeps going and now i'm just too busy trying to figure out where the camera is and where it's going and getting vaguely dizzy.
i get what and why they're doing this thing with jack being at the station with the sheriff but also. im tired
Tumblr media
all right. this also reminds me of hmm. combo leo in titanic and ...josh hartnett in pearl harbor?? o.0
glad sam is totally freaked out and afraid of jack, as he should be
Tumblr media
JACK (still fondling the wall) Lucifer? No, that's not his name. My father is Castiel.
LOL transcriber! fondling?? how about touching. anyway. papa castiel it is
MIRIAM I don't know what he's told you. I mean, I can guess. Some line about how he and his brother… (deepens voice) save the world. Grr. So macho. (she sighs and speaks in her normal voice) But really, he's not a hero. He's Becky. DEAN Becky? The roommate Becky? MIRIAM You take things and break things and piss people off, and just do whatever you want, no matter who it hurts. Also, you're a giant super bitch. DEAN Well, it takes one to know one. MIRIAM So, yeah, you're Becky, and Becky needs to die.
really odd choice to go with becky for this whole story business, unless they're invoking the actual becky from the show it's just confusing. i really hope it's not show-becky.
i think these are the angels that were in the script in 12x23? got 'em in now, i guess. so i thought carver was around for s12 but apparently it switched to dabb/singer as showrunners that season
....why did the angel just stab the sheriff's kid...? i know they're generally not big on humans but stabbing one for no real reason other than some distraction seems a bit excessive.
MIRIAM: Oh, sweetie. Almost anything. Castiel, he's dead. All the way dead, because of you.
rolling my eyes. that's a reach to try to induce a guilt trip
Tumblr media
conveniently got confirmation that jack can't be killed easily, as expected being how they talk him up like he's more powerful than anything basically for whatever reason
Tumblr media
DEAN Okay, Chuck… or God, or whatever. I need your help. See, you– you left us. You left us. You went off. You said… You said the earth would be fine because it had me… and it had Sam, but it’s not, and we’re not. We’ve lost everything. And now you’re gonna bring him back. Okay? You’re gonna bring back Cas, you’re gonna bring back Mom, you’re gonna bring ‘em all back. All of ‘em. Even Crowley. ’Cause after everything that you’ve done, you owe us, you son of a bitch. So you get your ass down here and you make this right, right here and right now.
being a cynical asshole but ok scenic backdrop for this praying to chuck that he could have done in the car. and he's giving my kids when they want something. need some foot stomping. punch something and risk breaking your hand instead, good choice
i think there's a handful of reasons** but i have never emotionally connected with cas and this... angsting and preparing to burn him and all, knowing that it's all going to be walked back at some point, it's just frustrating and exhausting. and now we're mourning cas, kelly, mom, crowley....
i didn't want to be sitting and stewing over pondering the logistics of how cas comes backs so i went and looked it up. and um, okay. i'm sure i'll have some thoughts about when it rolls around.
well, suffice it to say, i didn't particularly enjoy this episode. and had surprisingly little (for me) to say about it.
**his characterization that seems to change week to week is part of it and how the show talked up his relationship with the boys but didn't match up to what they were showing us for seasons on end. and unfortunately, how some sectors of fandom are about him also i think has an effect. which is a bummer all the way around
*oh james. i do enjoy your voice. i saw them live once or twice i think, but i don't really remember it. it was in the days of the album with the blood and jizz on the cover, which people didn't like. the songs or the jizz, i think
Tumblr media
according to wikipedia, james also didn't like the blood and jizz artwork, and says homophobic shit in his explanation. great!

Who in 1-A finds out about them first? Also what does nezu think of borrowers?
Continuation of this
Surprise, it was Kouda. Thanks to his rabbit, he was the first to be clued in on the fact that a borrower was running about the building. He doesn’t actually know what borrowers are, but he does understand that a very small sentient being is running about. Always the pacifist, he decided to wait for them to come to him. They don’t seem to be causing any harm and his rabbit said they smelled like Aizawa so his teacher must know about them.
The first student to actually meet them is Shinsou, a purely accidental encounter. He had come to ask Aizawa a question and you just happened to be talking with him. He’s a little confused but overall doesn’t care, he’s seen worse things from people he passed on the street. They both tends to enjoy each others company after them tag along with Aizawa to a few of Shinsou’s training matches where you mainly just referee.
First 1-A student to meet them in person is, of course, both Bakugo and Deku. The night they fought and we’re basically grounded. Also accidental. Most of the first few meetings are accidental, to be honest. Bakugo really doesn’t care, just another person he has to live with now. Deku would simply be super interested in borrower culture and how they’ve been affected by quirks, or if borrowers have quirks themselves. If they’re up for questions then they probably get into long conversations on the subject.
Nezu tends to think of borrowers as a rather resilient species, and would even go as far as to feel a small kinship with them. Humans haven’t had the best reputation with borrowers, yet the latter still continue to thrive in a world made too big for them. He’s also thrives in life despite his treatment by humans and his more cutesy appearance that often makes him seem as less of a threat than he most certainly is. He has asked if they would want him to but small catwalks on the walls for the 1-A building to allow for them to safely get around, but they agreed only when 1-A learned of their existence. After that happens Nezu just decides to install them in every UA building. No one but 1-A and the staff know what those tiny walkways up near the ceiling are even for.

Threat Assessment Report #01: Crimson Wind Requiem
Summary: Darius Brando is... What’s there to say about Darius Brando that hasn’t already been said? Forgive my break from the formal tone these reports should take, but considering his connections, his mindset, and most of all his Stand ability, Darius Brando is possibly the most likely of all our listed threats to actually cause an X-class scenario, and most of this report is just going to be reiterating the same facts we’ve all previously discussed that make him basically untouchable as of right now. Steel, unfortunately, doesn’t have much intel on him despite his status as Dio Brando’s son - apparently, he didn’t even exist in Steel’s reality, or his path took an entirely different turn somewhere. That being said, though Steel doesn’t know much of the circumstances leading up to it, the X-class scenario that apparently destroyed his reality was caused by Enrico Pucci, who seems to be Darius’s biggest influence at the moment, which means his neutralization should be top priority as of right now. However, due to his command over the Shadow Troupe and connections to various other Stand user organizations, taking out Darius would require a veritable army. We can say we are working on that, but whether we’ll have enough resources to be equipped for it if we decide to go that route is another story. Steel and I have discussed possibly allying with some of Darius’s many enemies, but it might be better to leave him to war with the Speedwagon Foundation and allow us to handle what slips through their cracks. Still, here’s what we know.
Ability: Crimson Wind Requiem is a confusing Stand to face in battle if you haven’t previously been briefed on it. It possesses some similarities to King Crimson, a Stand Steel was able to retrieve quite a bit of information on, but its fewer limitations make facing it far more difficult, and gives it a more broad purpose as opposed to the absurdly specific intent behind King Crimson. As a side note, Stands that reflect their users’ mindsets annoy me when they get this trippy - but that’s not about the Stand we’re meant to be discussing. Crimson Wind Requiem is an ability that provides supreme defensive capabilities in two forms once its ability is active. It will “erase” time for twenty seconds, and push everyone else’s perception to the end of the twenty-second period while leaving Darius intact within it. During this period, Darius cannot be harmed in nearly any capacity for reasons that are difficult to determine, while still being able to attack his opponent, and any memories of what occurred during this period are wiped from bystanders.
I suppose I’ve danced around the reasoning for long enough, since it is relevant that I explain exactly how the “erased” time works. King Crimson was a Stand based on it’s user’s notion of his “fate” to rule over the world, similar to a “divine right of kings” mindset. In his own words, more or less, King Crimson functioned by predicting future events and then “erasing” the events that were considered unfavorable, “altering fate”. While the concept of fate and predestiny are not considered absolute laws of the universe here at Altruism Inc., we have come to the consensus that a person’s actions may be predicted in a sense. King Crimson and Crimson Wind Requiem both are capable of seeing into future events for only a very brief amount of time - in the midst of the flow of combat, the actions one may take may be predicted in a sense, as they are not fundamental questions about one’s humanity, but more responses to stressful stimuli in an attempt to evade certain death. What this means is that, by understanding yourself, you may be able to develop a concept of what you might end up doing in erased time, and can plan accordingly for any time Darius might decide to erase it. While your body will act in the way it was already intending to do so in this way and effectively won’t be under your control, nor will it be able to understand the nature of Darius’s existence, it will not be helpless.
Crimson Wind Requiem’s main weakness is its lack of a future-predicting component like King Crimson’s Epitaph. While the memories Steel took from Diavolo’s corpse showed that erasing time could still display future events in the midst of it, it does not show events as far into the future as Epitaph does. While Darius may be capable of removing others’ influence on him in erased time, erasing time does not fundamentally prevent others from acting, as could be seen when Jean Pierre Polnareff used the Requiem arrow mid-erase, which was an important component of the events leading to Diavolo’s downfall. Attacks that require “charge time” or work on “cooldown”, to use some video game terminology, can be much more effective if used conservatively in the fight, as as long as the user can survive the time erase, they will be able to use their abilities far more frequently.
The trick, of course, is then to find out how to survive the time erase. One may be able to plan a route of their actions ahead of time, but unless they are also perfectly predicting Darius’s actions, it is unlikely they will be able to adequately defend against his attacks. It is certainly not impossible to do so - regardless of how Darius’s “defenses” may work in erased time, he would not be able to affect things within it if there was not some physical component to his attacks - he cannot have his cake and eat it too, but without the ability for the person to actually perceive and respond to Darius in real time, only extremely powerful defensive maneuvers could stand a chance. Range is also an important factor, as while Darius can try to close distance, he cannot fundamentally prevent a target from running away or attempting to escape, which is an action that may not require the person fleeing to respond to anything aside from the knowledge that Darius, while not being perceived per se, is attempting to catch up to them. Perhaps it is possible to predetermine an intention to flee once one believes he is about to erase time, and then resume an attack once time stops skipping. This is honestly the best I can think of - most of these threat assessment reports don’t take into account other possible factors and simply assume a one-on-one scenario. To be fair, it would theoretically be possible to affect Darius’s allies in erased time and give him an incentive to do something other than attack, but discussing the complexities of duo Stand fights would make this report extremely overcomplicated.
This doesn’t even touch on some of Darius’s pillar man abilities, but I believe those are mostly “niche” powers with the advent of Stands, with the exception of his regeneration. Obviously, only the Ripple is capable of dealing lasting damage to a Pillar Man’s body, but this can be somewhat circumvented by targeting the Stand directly - as a close range power type, it seems unlikely Crimson Wind Requiem would have any particularly exceptional level of durability. Still, targeting the main body is not out of the question - destroying the brain of a Pillar Man quickly enough could still be enough to instantly kill them. Any other abilities are mostly just supplemental, as none of them, not even Mask of Hatred, are more dangerous than Crimson Wind Requiem - they just augment his durability in a way that makes him even harder to kill.
Possible Countermeasures: Despite everything, there are a few Stands I can name that I believe could defeat Crimson Wind Requiem. Although there is no straightforward “type” of Stand that is granted a unique advantage, thorough analysis has resulted in a few ideas:
Murph Indianapolis: I truly believe that Murph Indianapolis is the best suited candidate to defeat Crimson Wind Requiem. 「Every Time it Rains」 is a Stand that actually manifests inside the user’s body, granting their body unique characteristics in regards to how it manages body heat - specifically, their body can “overclock” any of its functions by consuming thermal energy and converting it back into kinetic energy, consuming internal body heat to force their body to move at extreme levels of speed and power. In combination with the fact that their Stand allows them to interact physically with Stands using their normal body, Murph could use the “escaping” strategy to increase and close distance between themselves and Darius nigh-instantaneously if so desired, preventing him from acting effectively during the time erase and creating an opportunity to strike back outside of it. Their absurd physical capabilities would also allow them to strike Darius or his Stand with enough force to destroy his brain in a single blow and kill him with relative ease. Though the Pillar Man freezing technique Darius learned from his father could possibly interfere with the mechanics of Murph’s Stand, it would be difficult to use it effectively at the speed Murph typically moves at, as well as the inability to protect his Stand with it.
Billie Joestar: Another obvious, though much more underpowered, candidate, Ruler of Everything nullifies the effects of Darius’s time erase on Billie entirely. Billie’s ability to use the Ripple also indicates his ability to possibly take on Darius in 1 on 1 combat. However, Darius’s durability in his Mask of Hatred mode and his Pillar Man abilities would make this a very difficult combat for a nine-year-old with a non-combat Stand.
Akira Otoishi: While a bit more of a stretch, Red Hot Chili Pepper is still a very powerful Stand, and perfectly suited for the hit and run strategy that would be most likely to eliminate Darius. It can utilize powerful single strikes, move at absurdly fast speeds, and has a very long useful range. Given an appropriate location, Red Hot Chili Pepper may be able to defeat Crimson Wind Requiem with little risk of harm to Akira himself.
Joanna Joestar: It feels appropriate for two of the possible candidates to defeat Darius to be Joestars. Although Joanna does not have the immunity to Darius’s powerful time skip that her son does, her 「Time in a Bottle」 gives her the ability to increase her own mobility while reducing Darius’s while also generally being a relatively strong close-range power type. Her ability to use the Ripple is a strong bonus if the fight comes to that for whatever reason, but her experience fighting Stands with similar capabilities makes her a force to be reckoned with. If Murph would not be able to end the battle quickly and decisively, Joanna could win a war of attrition.

Chapter 13 Forlorn Vow (Finale of the first part)
Aichi’s heart felt so warm and fuzzy right now. He always wanted to do this deep down. It was not unlike when he reunited with Blaster Blade on Cray. Now, he finally understood those strange thoughts and feelings he had towards Dynasmon.
However, he felt something else in his chest. Something inside it that was invasive and foreign. A grim reminder that this was…fleeting. He was on limited time…a ticking time bomb that could go off at any moment and spell doom for those he loved.
Even still he treasured this moment. Those watching could tell from Aichi’s expression how much the affection meant to him. They wordlessly separated from each other. Aichi looked up at Dynasmon who looked away flustered. Aichi then turned to the angel Digimon more serious. Pusumon giggled happily.
“Great angels, is there any way to destroy the seed?”, Aichi asked.
The room became silent and tense. Seraphimon looked at Aichi intently.
“I honestly don’t know. I suppose there’s no harm in trying.”, Seraphimon replied, honestly.
On Earth…
The forces of the demon lords slowly encroached from the train stations.
At Forest Terminal…
Aichi looked down disappointed. They tried everything they could. He saw so many bright flashes of light he felt his head spinning. The mood was doured and Kourin looked very worried looking over to Aichi. Dynasmon looked annoyed grumbling about the uselessness of the Celestial Digimon. Pusumon looked confused and sad not exactly understanding the situation.
“I have news from our scout that the Demon Lords are on the move! It seems they’re trying to go to the human world!”, Sorcerermon said as he ran in.
This quickly gained their attention. The humans tensed at the news.
“Then, you must chase after them. We’re deeply sorry we cannot lift your curse, but we can provide you passage to the human world.”, Ophanimon said.
“You're just moving him not solving the problem…you useless angels.”, Dynasmon grumbled.
“It’s fine, Dynasmon. The seed didn’t even originate from the Digital World. Hoping they could get rid of it was always a long shot.”, Aichi replied and Dynasmon hmphed.
“We wish we could have aided you more after everything you’ve done. Unfortunately this is the most we can provide.”, Seraphimon said.
“So, what will we do about the seed then?”, Kourin asked.
“I guess we will simply have to wait until the Demon Lords are dealt with…I wish there was something I could do.”, Olivier said as he balled his fist.
Ren looked over to Aichi who seemed deep in thought. He swore he could see darkness in his expression.
“Oliver’s right. We will have to find a way to deal with it after defeating the Demon Lords.”, Aichi said.
Sorcerermon led them to a secret Trailmon underground.
On Earth…
The time was 6:01am. Despite the time that passed in the Digital World the forces of the Demon Lords hadn’t gotten far due to the time difference. The people of Earth were quickly starting to take notice of the invaders. Soon, the Demon Lords arrived on Earth….
The streets erupted into chaos when people saw the monsters roaming. Cars drove wildly trying to get away causing crashes. Screams of terror and explosions rang through the air. In mere minutes the city was thrown into chaos. A humanoid Digimon with blue armor roared as he cut through an electrical pole like butter. Just like that the internet which humans could use to contact the outside world was being cut off. A black t-Rex Digimon yanked at another electrical line with its tail.
“W-woah, what the hell is going on?!”, Naoki questioned and Shingo pulled him back behind a building.
“Shut it, wannabe! We don’t want those monsters to come near us.”, Shingo whispered.
“I’ll just cardfight them.”, Naoki replied.
“Do those guys look like they’re interested in cardfight?”, Shingo questioned, incredulously.
“Dark Roar!”, the Digimon with blue armor called out as it fired dark matter from its weapon.
The two paled as those hit by the dark matter were completely annihilated. This made Naoki rethink getting anywhere near them.
“Let’s bounce.”, Naoki said as quietly as possible and Shingo nodded.
The two started to sneak away from the chaos. They quickened their pace when debris started to fly everywhere. The Digimon with blue armor spotted them as they started running, aiming its weapon at them.
“S-Shit!”, Naoki cursed.
However suddenly something flew past them like a blur.
“Kotemon warp digivolve to…! Dynasmon!”, a familiar voice said.
The Digimon with blue armor coughed up blood as it suddenly had a gaping hole through its stomach. It was created by a massive fist that tore through its armor and body like tissue paper. More Digimon suddenly flooded in to combat the invading Digimon. This left the two very confused not understanding what was going on at all. Naoki tensed and Shingo flinched when the Digimon that easily dealt with the Digimon with blue armor turned to them. That Digimon was…Dynasmon.
“Naoki! Shingo!”, the two turned as they heard a familiar voice.
Their eyes widened in disbelief to see both Aichi and Kourin. They were even more confused to see Aichi carrying a small Digimon. Crusadermon struck a Digimon trying to attack them from behind with her roses.
“What the hell…?”, Naoki questioned.
“You guys need to go somewhere safe!”, Aichi said.
The black dinosaur rushed at Dynasmon in fury drawing their attention.
“How d-“, the black dinosaur was saying however it never got to finish its sentence.
Dynasmon backhanded the dinosaur without looking at it. It’s strike blew the dinosaur’s head off. Naoki and Shingo gaped incredulously at seeing this. Aichi would normally scold Dynasmon for killing another Digimon so casually but…He looked around seeing the untold destruction all across the city in mere minutes. The stench of blood and ash was in the air. Regrettably they really didn’t have time to purify every attacking Digimon if they wanted to save as many victims as possible.
It was frightening to imagine what level of destruction would have been caused before they arrived if Earth and the Digital World moved at the same time. Aichi went over to Dynasmon’s side. Naoki froze at seeing Aichi and Dynasmon together. Something about it felt oddly familiar.
“Where are you going, Aichi?!”, Shingo questioned fearfully, before Aichi looked back at his friends.
“We’re going to deal with this.”, Aichi replied, only adding to the two’s confusion.
“It’s a long story. We don’t have time to explain.”, Kourin said.
Aichi put Pusumon into his former v-pet and got on Dynasmon’s back as he flew. The wyvern knight manipulated the wind to move the debris out of the way of crushing people. He then fired that same debris at the many Digimon that charged at it. The pressure of the wind increased the deadliness of the debris drastically allowing it to kill the Digimon attacking it. Kourin led Naoki and Shingo away with Crusadermon guarding them.
“Does this mean you remember us?!”, Naoki questioned and Kourin nodded.
The two looked stunned learning this.
Dynasmon flew at unbelievable speeds tearing countless numbers of the invading Digimon apart. Aichi had a much better view of the devastation now. It unnerved him greatly to see the city he’s lived in his whole life torn asunder. He only hoped that no one he knew was…Aichi visibly flinched holding his chest as a dark aura appeared around him briefly. He really didn’t have the time. Any time.
“I’m sorry for this…”, Aichi thought solemnly.
Only due to this ruthless decision and the blessing of Dynasmon’s speed were they able to save as many people as they could. In less than a minute the invading forces within the city were annihilated to the awe of those witnessing it. Dynasmon stood victorious over the corpses of the invaders who quickly faded away. People looked out from the destroyed buildings seeing Dynasmon high in the sky.
“How shit!”, Naoki said, completely stunned.
“Well, that was quick. I suppose we should focus on our second objective then, my lady.”, Crusadermon said.
“Second objective?”, Naoki questioned, having the same strange feeling as when he saw Aichi and Dynasmon together.
“We have to check on everyone to make sure they’re alright.”, Kourin replied.
“That makes sense.”, Shingo replied.
She started explaining to them how they went to the Digital World with vague details. She was unsure if they should know about the seed considering Aichi hadn’t told them before and they didn’t need to be worried about that and the Demon Lords at the same time.
Gatomon snickered as she viewed Aichi and Dynasmon from afar.
“It seems the Digimon we sent after them failed miserably. Alas…”, Gatomon sighed.
She watched as the two flew off. She observed them quietly following them.
Aichi looked beyond relieved to see his house in one piece. Dynasmon shrunk down, becoming Kotemon. His family would definitely freak out seeing Dynasmon’s towering form, but there was no telling if there were surviving invaders lurking around. Aichi and Kotemon looked around cautiously before entering the house.
At the door he was met by his mother who seemed to be rushing out with Emi. She quickly stopped before she ran into Aichi.
“There you are, Aichi! We have to go! Did you hear those explosions?!”, his mother said, sounding panicked.
Emi looked over, noticing how bizarrely calm Aichi was. She remembered Link Joker and wondered if her brother was somehow caught up in this too. Her mother noticed the small figure in kendo gear next to Aichi and her eyes widened.
“Everything is fine for now.”, Aichi replied as he noticed his mother looking at Kotemon.
“Your…that can’t be…”, his mother murmured.
“This is Kotemon.”, Aichi introduced, gesturing to his partner.
The two looked completely stunned at this.
“Wait…’mon’? Kotemon? Isn’t that a Digimon?!”, Emi questioned.
When she looked more she noticed the reptilian feet and tail clearly poking out of the kendo armor. Emi’s eyes were completely wide as she realized it was real as she saw the tail move.
“I don’t understand. What’s going on, Aichi?! I thought Kotemon left.”, his mother said, surprising Emi.
Aichi looked a bit shocked due to not having his memories.
“This might sound unbelievable, but there’s really no way to hide it after what just happened…”, Aichi said.
He explained how he went to the Digital World leaving out any parts about the void. He had also brought Pusumon back out who was fussy at being forced into the former v-pet. His mother calmed it down and Emi’s eyes sparkled at how cute it was. Notably Pusumon was bigger than when it was seen last. It no longer had its binky, it had grown short stubby legs and had yellow spikes on its back.
“I’m sorry, Pusurimon. I put you in the v-pet because I didn’t want you to be in danger while Dynasmon was fighting.”, Aichi apologized, waving his hands.
“It was still so mean, mommy! I didn’t know where you were!”, Pusurimon replied.
However, it quieted down when Aichi’s mother gave it food and it focused on eating, making them sweat drop.
“Because the Demon Lord’s forces are attacking all over the world through the train stations we all had to split up.”, Aichi was saying.
Aichi looked down at his phone and Kotemon looked over his shoulder. His phone was full of worried texts from his friends. He kept repeatedly hearing dings as he tried to talk. He quickly tried to text all his friends back clarifying he was okay and asked if they were. He frowned as he got a call from Misaki, but he knew better than to ignore her. It wasn’t as if he didn’t want to hear her; he just…didn’t want to explain what happened at the club.
Emi gave him a judging look as he looked down at the ringing phone.
“Come on, what’s up with you, brother?! Answer her!”, Emi said.
“She will only get more worried if you don’t answer her again.”, Kotemon said as Aichi closed his eyes.
Emi raised her eyebrow at this. What he said implied Misaki had already called him. She was absolutely perplexed at why her brother was avoiding her and his other friends. He raised the phone up to his ear accepting the call.
“Yes.”, Aichi replied softly.
He instantly backed away as he could hear Misaki yelling. She was so loud Emi could hear her even though it wasn’t on speaker. Kotemon had never felt such unbridled fury from a voice alone. He wondered what kind of power this Misaki had, especially since he could see his tamer’s intense fear plastered on his face.
“I have been trying to call you for the past half hour! Why the fuck haven’t you been responding?! I thought you were dead! Are you and Emi alright!”, Misaki said, fuming with rage which made Aichi tremble in fear.
She could tell just how enraged she was when he heard her curse. He’s never heard that before so he knew he was basically dead. Was the void going to matter when Misaki murders him?
“I-I’m s-“, Aichi was saying shakily before he was cut off.
“Get your ass over here now! You are going to explain what the fuck is going on! I got a message from Ren saying you went to some ‘Digital World’ and Kourin’s back!”, Misaki practically ordered.
“E-Emi’s fine…so is my mom.”, Aichi replied, sounding like a mouse compared to her.
“Then you have no reason to not get over here now!”, Misaki replied.
Aichi was silent for a moment as he held the phone.
“Aichi?! Did something happen?”, Misaki asked, sounding concerned.
The others looked confused at Aichi’s behavior. He seemed to have calmed down from his initial fear. His expression was more calm and almost cold. Emi noticed Pusurimon froze looking scared. Kotemon was worried the void was doing something again.
“Fine. I’ll come.”, Aichi replied, simply.
Misaki was put off by the bluenette’s tone. She recognized it far too well…the way Aichi’s voice sounded deeper than normal. Hearing that familiar tone made her more worried than ever before.
“W-wait Aichi-“, Misaki questioned, concern was very visible in her voice before Aichi hung up.
Aichi’s mom and Emi looked completely stunned. Aichi just…hung up on someone. Not just someone, one of his closest friends. They were starting to feel seriously concerned about Aichi now. Had something happened in the Digital World he hadn’t mentioned? Even more so Emi was alarmed because she recognized Aichi’s tone as well. It was the same as ‘that time’ where her brother suddenly became frightening. Something was…very wrong with her brother. She could feel it.
“A-Aichi?! What the heck was that?! Why did you hang up on her?”, Emi questioned.
“Let’s go, Kotemon. Pusurimon, can you keep mom and Emi safe?”, Aichi said as the small Digimon looked up at them.
“Sure? Where are you going, mommy?”, Pusurimon questioned with concern.
“Aichi, what’s going on with you?! You’ve been acting strange!”, his mother questioned.
Kotemon looked at Aichi as he looked over. This completely stunned his mother. She had absolutely no idea why her son was acting like this and it was terrifying.
“Everything’s fine. I will see you two later.”, Aichi said, followed by Kotemon as he quickly left.
Emi got up at this practically about to chase after him herself.
“Wait! Emi, there could be more monsters!”, their mother warned.
“Pusurimon digivolve to…!”, Pusurimon said, suddenly sounding surprised.
Very soon after Pusurimon was engulfed in light stunning them. When the light vanished Pusurimon was bigger again and now bipedal. Its fur was spiky, it now had red claws and pointy ears.
“Herissmon?!”, Pusurimon now Herissmon, said as surprised as they were.
A blue aura was visible around it briefly before quickly fading away. It suddenly felt so much power surging through it. Did Aichi do that?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
At Card Capital…
Aichi’s friends looked absolutely stunned as they overheard Misaki’s call with him. Kourin, Naoki, Shingo, Kai, Miwa, Kamui, Morikawa, Izaki, Shin, Reiji and Eiji.
“Maybe you're onto something Izaki. Aichi really is turning into Kai…”, Morikawa said with wide eyes.
Naoki and Shingo noticed how particularly spooked the others were hearing Aichi’s tone of voice. The two of them had never heard it before but it put them on edge especially seeing the others reactions. Kourin lowered her head and Kai was completely silent looking at the wall. Kamui’s fists were shaking, Reiji and Eiji’s mouth’s were agape. Miwa had a serious look and looked over to Misaki as concern flashed on his face. Shin touched Misaki’s shoulder with concern on his his face.
“I was just joking about that. I didn’t think he was really…”, Izaki said as he rubbed his head.
Misaki had a nervous sweat as she stood there gazing at her phone, unable to believe what she heard. The amount of worry that entered her overpowered the anger she felt. She had noticed the startling similarities with Aichi’s behavior to how he was acting then. Her greatest fears were being proven to be correct.
“Misaki…? What the hell?! Why did Aichi do that?! Was he lying to us?!”, Naoki questioned, seeing that as the only explanation.
“I don’t know…but Aichi has been acting strange for over two weeks.”, Misaki replied.
“Something has definitely been seriously up with him. If we caught him before would he have acted like that?”, Shingo questioned.
“Even still there’s no reason to act like that when we’re worried about him! He hasn’t had the hall to talk to Misaki like that since…”, Kamui was saying.
“It’s gall, kiddo.”, Miwa corrected.
“That doesn’t matter! The way he was acting was just like he was during Nationals!”, Kamui replied.
Shingo’s eyes widened as he suddenly remembered how Aichi was in the Nationals. He hadn’t thought about it for awhile and he had only been a spectator then. He thought it was some sort of heel performance considering how nice Aichi proved to be. But, Aichi had later said he couldn’t act confusing him. He remembered Aichi used the same tone there too.
“What the hell has crawled up Aichi’s ass to be acting like this?!”, Naoki thought.
“Nationals?! Was he acting like a complete ass then too?”, Naoki questioned.
Miwa looked over to Kai who frowned deeply. He could see Kai gripping his fist tightly.
Flashback
“That’s…That’s a mistake!”, Aichi said, emotionally as he tried to talk him away from the metaphorical edge.
Flashback end
“This all started after Link Joker…Did it do something to him?!”, Kai thought, full of concern.
Kai suddenly thought of his own words.
Flashback
“You’re going to be locked by me forever!”, he said menacingly.
Flashback end
Kai froze feeling like it was hard to breathe….Did he? Did he really lock Aichi?! It would explain his uncharacteristic behavior…He held onto the reverse for a while. Was it possible for the reverse to hold onto Aichi?
With Aichi…
“Aichi…why are you acting like this? Is the void doing something to you again?”, Kotemon asked.
Aichi looked down at Kotemon as they walked. There was something in Aichi’s gaze both powerful and utterly terrifying.
“I’ve decided what I need to do…”, Aichi replied as Kotemon sweated nervously.
“And what is that?”, Kotemon asked.
“I’m going to get rid of the seed by sealing myself away to protect everyone.”, Aichi said, through the former v-pet.
Tumblr media
Kotemon’s eyes widened in shock as he met Aichi’s gaze. Aichi was deadly serious about what he said. His partner could tell very well he meant every word of it without the void’s influence. Kotemon briefly stopped completely stunned by the declaration.
“You don’t agree do you? You want to stop me?”, Aichi said.
“That’s why you were acting so strange…you have been pushing everyone away so they won’t get hurt…”, Kotemon murmured.
That was how strong Aichi’s dedication was to protect everyone. He was willing to do anything to save his loved ones even if they ended up hating him. It was perhaps the ultimate display of loyalty. There was a moment of silence between the pair.
“You are one who is truly noble beyond belief, Aichi.”, Kotemon said as Aichi’s eyes widened.
Shock was visible on Aichi’s face. He had honestly expected to get lectured for suggesting such a thing. Kotemon bowed to Aichi who fully turned around to him.
“There is truly no human more worthy of being my partner.”, Kotemon said.
Aichi smiled warmly at Kotemon, his cold mask completely melting away.
To be continued…in Digimon Tamer ZERO -Earth arc-!
Aichi and co will return!

Ch9: Revelations
Tumblr media
Credits to @v1ntrix  for helping with the editing The scenery was beautiful. Walking down a dirt path you are flanked on either side by grass that stretched as far as the eye could see. Scattered were what appeared to be trees and bushes. As you continued to look around, you noticed what appeared to be some basic monsters around though the diversity surprised you. There were some cows and slimes scattered around, a sight not so out of place in a video game, though you were shocked at the presence of white drones flying around. Who would've thought that such a rare mix of monsters would coexist together?
You drew one of your swords to your right hand and waved it around. As described in your research, it was intuitive and easy to use. You turned your gaze towards the nearest cow and charged towards it. Your blade glided through the middle of the cow in one swift motion, and as you turned around, you saw the two halves of the cow on the ground. Irene looks at you in surprise and walks over to you. “Oppa raise your hand and collect it. “ You did as Irene instructed, and suddenly the cow disappeared, appearing in your inventory. You looked at it and saw you had meat in your inventory now.
You looked at your stats again to see how much more experience you needed then glanced back at your party to get used to things when you noticed something that caught your attention. You looked around at the people walking and turned to Jennie. “Jen, I just realised something, why aren’t there many humans around?”
“Ah well because being Human in this world does not give any sort of special abilities or traits, hence why most people choose a race that provides them with some benefit. Like I am a Tiefling so I have fire resistance and all of my kin become partial Tieflings and gain the same ability.”
You nod and opened up the party settings to look at Irene’s race and noticed she was a spirit. “Irene, Jen, let’s head back to my house for now. I need to check on something. “ They look confused but nod in agreement. This time you paid more attention to your surroundings as you walked back. It seemed that there were as many NPCs around as regular people, along with all forms of stores, from weapon and armour shops to strip clubs and maid cafes.
After a few minutes, you were continuing to walk but was stopped by Jennie in front of a white mansion with red highlights and surrounded by a flower garden that consisted of roses of various shades. “Oppa, I guess you weren’t paying too much attention to your own home when we left. Cause we’re here.” She lets out a soft giggle before opening the door. You entered your house and Wendy closed the door behind you, you turned to Irene. “Irene, you said that Jennie wasn’t fond of you before, was there any particular reason why that was the case?” Irene looks down as if still slightly uncomfortable when Jennie speaks up. “It was because of how much you paid for Irene master. From the other me’s memory, I think you paid three times the average cost of a secretary.”
You sat down at your dining table and opened up Nabi. Assuming that the other you from this world isn’t a moron, he had to have done things for a reason, and you felt like you saw something relating to it. Jennie and Irene went off to make drinks while the others opted to sit around and rest. They looked at you with confusion at your frantic researching, but you were too deep in your research to notice it. He could have just let you log in for the first time after you were transferred over and just made use of a trusted advisor but he made these choices beforehand. This made you certain that there must be a reason why the other you had made all these choices for your race and class.
After about an hour, you finally found it. It was a section on unique skills. It explained that unique skills are very powerful skills that only one person can obtain. It also showed that most of the skills had already been claimed except for two which caught your eye. One was Succubus Queen, which hasn’t been claimed because there weren't many people who opted for the class, much less fulfilled its main condition which was to build a good relationship with at least three attendants, which the current Jennie should be able to fulfil as you look at the girls mingling happily.
However, the one you were most interested in was the unique skill Living Forge. It showed that the requirements were to be human and be a blacksmith class. But what seemed like the hard part was to have a spirit secretary class ally, one who had been promoted to the second class of Weapon spirit. The first part was already accomplished since you already had Irene. This seemed to all have been arranged by the other you. The tough part was that for a spirit secretary to be promoted to a weapon spirit, the person must fall in love with the person they are loyal to.
This was a problem because although this Irene might fall in love with you, you know that the other Irene had nothing but animosity towards you. You sighed as you looked at Irene fondly. You didn’t want to lose this Irene, but as you stared at Irene, a sudden revelation hit you. Irene had been acting differently since this morning. She’s been calling you oppa instead of Ray or sir. She was acting so jealous of Joy and Jennie this morning, while she was nothing but timid yesterday. Lastly, why did Jennie have to cover up the reason why she didn’t like Irene when she could adequately explain it herself. What if this was the Irene from your world, and she had feelings for you all this time. This was just too unbelievable, but you had to be sure before you could make your next move.
“Irene, can you teach Joy how to make me a cup of coffee the way I like it?” Irene smiles and nods as she walks to Joy before they both head to the kitchen and ten minutes later, they both come back, and Joy places the coffee before you as Irene waits for your comments.
“So Irene, when were you going to tell me?” You said in a serious tone, one that made the room quiet. “What do you mean oppa? Tell you what?”
You sighed. “You can stop acting Irene. I never called Sooyoung Joy before. So the only way you would know I was referring to Sooyoung is if you were the leader of Red Velvet Irene.” Before she could reply, you stood up and gave a ninety-degree bow. “I’m sorry I didn't mean to drag you into all this. You can hit me if it makes you feel any better. I’ll take full responsibility for this situation.”
You were prepared to get hit, yelled at, or anything, but you didn't expect the softness of her lips against your own. “You are still so dense, be it in our world or this one. “ You looked up at her, confused as she hugged you. “If we can be true to ourselves in this world then I don't have to hold back anymore. Oppa, I’ve always loved you but you always had your harem and I had the bad reputation of being against guys like you. So it was so hard for me to confess everything to you. “
You looked at her confused as she just giggled. “If I didn’t love you I wouldn't have been able to be teleported here in the first place. It seems like the minimum condition for us to be merged is that the love for the one from this world is the same as the one from our world. The Irene of this world isn’t gone just like how the Jennie of this world also isn't. We just became one person.”
You were still stunned. This answered one question but brought forth a multitude of new ones.

A-Yuan wasn’t the only child among the Wen Remnants, just the youngest.
Children's Day - ao3
Lan Wangji carefully scooped up the boy out of his hiding place, tucked beneath a pile of stones, sick with fever and fast asleep.
It was a good hiding place. If Lan Wangji hadn’t played Inquiry and demanded to know if there were any living beings around in this cursed place of death, he would never have found the small child.
He remembered him – this was little A-Yuan, who Wei Wuxian had taken down into town to play, the one Lan Wangji had bought all those toys for in his confusion, the one who called him rich-gege. Barely more than two years old, having never known anything but war.
He was all that was left, now. There was nothing else left in the battlefield.
No one else left.
Lan Wangji closed his eyes in pain.
I’ll care for him for you, he promised Wei Wuxian’s ghost, wherever it might be now. Now that you cannot.
I’ll take him back to Gusu to raise as my own – wishing you were by my side.

“Sect Leader!” one of his aides cried out when he staggered back into camp. “What – who’s that?”
Jiang Cheng looked down at the girl in his arms. She was – four, maybe? Five? He had no idea.
She looked a bit like Wen Qing.
“I found her hiding in the corner of the battlefield when she made a noise,” he said hoarsely. “The Wen sect remnants…by the time I got there, they were almost all dead already, all her family. She’s – she’s young. It didn’t seem right.”
Wei Wuxian always liked children, he thought vaguely to himself as he looked down at her. It wasn’t so much of a surprise that he would keep one there…in fact, if he thought back to that horrible meeting they’d had that one time he’d come to the Burial Mounds to try to talk to Wei Wuxian, he thought he remembered there being a small child there. This must be her.
She was bigger than he remembered, but that was what happened with small children, wasn’t it?
“Her surname is Wen?”
“No,” Jiang Cheng snapped automatically, and his aide took a step back from his vehemence. “The Wen sect is dead, you understand? All of them. The cultivation world refused to allow them to live, that much is obvious enough. Her surname…”
He looked down at her.
I failed Wei Wuxian, he thought grimly. I won’t fail his legacy.
“Her surname will be Jiang.”

“We found this child hiding in the Demon Subduing Cave,” one of the guards reported, looking nervous. “Lianfeng-zun – what do we do with them?”
Jin Guangyao frowned down at the child, judging the child’s age to be about five or six – maybe seven, considering the likelihood of malnutrition at the Burial Mounds. If they were any younger, he would’ve said that the child ought to just execute them as useless; any older, and he would’ve had no choice but to declare them an enemy combatant, and thereby order them executed.
At this age, though…they were still young enough to be taught to forget their current surname, and to learn new loyalties, and yet old enough to perhaps remember a little of what they had learned, living as they had for a few years with the inventor of demonic cultivation.
Jin Guangyao glanced at the papers in his hands, full of barely legible scribbles, laying out powerful new spells and interesting ideas. They would help Xue Yang with his work – but not as much as a helper would, and naturally they’d just brutally executed all the other ‘helpers’ that might have been available.
Not exactly Jin Guangyao’s personal preference, but he wasn’t the one leading the Jin sect army.
Still, his father, who had been the one leading, had retired to his tent, and now Jin Guangyao was the one with the power, left to be in charge of mopping up. That, in turn, gave him a little more leeway, which meant he could implement his own thoughts, rather than badly thought out instructions.
“Put the child in my tent,” he said, and smiled. “The poor thing must have gotten lost and entered the battlefield – after we arrived. You understand?”
The guard saluted deeply. “Lianfeng-zun is kind and beneficent,” he said, and his expression was worshipful. “I will tell the others that the child is from some distant Jin branch.”
Jin Guangyao hadn’t intended for him to do that, but – well, he couldn’t exactly refute it now, could he, and anyway there were worse things to happen. Everyone would know that he had kindly taken in some orphaned child of war, which would be good for his reputation.
He smiled and nodded, and thought of the future.

“Well, shit,” Nie Mingjue said, staring at the trio of children: nine or ten years old, he thought, maybe a little older, two girls and a boy. They stared back at him, wide-eyed and terrified – they were very clearly trying to sneak off the Burial Mounds down the back way.
Nie Mingjue rubbed his face, glad that he’d insisted on doing the forward scout work before the attack tomorrow morning himself rather than let it go to someone else. He hadn’t wanted to come to this blasted place in the first place, being that he still wasn’t sure exactly what had gone down with Wei Wuxian, who’d been a good man once. But good Nie cultivators had died at Lanling City at Wen Ning’s hands, the Jin sect claiming that that brutal attack was at Wei Wuxian’s instigation, and at the Nightless City at Wei Wuxian’s hands directly, and he didn’t have any evidence to exculpate the man, either; he had no grounds to look the families of those Nie cultivators in the eye and tell them not to pursue vengeance against the man who had slaughtered their brothers and fathers and sons, sisters and mothers and daughters, like they meant nothing.
They deserved vengeance.
Just as he had, for his father.
But at the same time…
“You’re all surnamed Wen, I take it?” he asked, and they slowly nodded. “Dafan Wen?”
Another nod.
“Wrong answer,” he said, making a snap decision. This wasn’t like his father at all, not really; he had wanted to kill Wen Ruohan, who had done the deed himself, while these children clearly hadn’t done anything. “Swear to me here and now that you won’t seek revenge for your sect or family, and you can be surnamed Nie instead.”
They looked at each other.
“Your family didn’t send you to run away because they wanted you to take revenge,” he said. It was a guess, but he could tell from the way their shoulders sagged that he was right. “They wanted you to live. Well?”
They swore.
He took them home.

She tripped and fell flat on her face.
“Hey, girl!”
She looked up, eyes wide with terror – she hadn’t expected to be caught so soon – but the cultivator in front of her didn’t strike her down. He was a young man, just a few years older than her, and he looked nice, kneeling to help her up.
“Are you all right?” he asked. “Did you get lost?”
Lost? From where would she get lost, exactly?
Despite that, she nodded.
“I’m sorry to hear that. Here isn’t a good place, though – we’re going to have a battle tomorrow…can you tell me where you’re from?” He frowned. “Or – can’t you speak?”
An idea suddenly came to mind, and she shook her head, lifting up her hands to mime signs like the ones she’d seen Lady Wen and her brother use sometimes when they needed to talk without disturbing others.
“Doesn’t talk,” he murmured to himself. “Clothing of white, ripped all to ribbons –”
She’d torn out any trace of the red sun. White was a common color, but she was old enough to know that she couldn’t let anyone know she was surnamed Wen.
“Oh, I’ve read about this before! Are you a bird yao that’s cultivated to humanity?”
What?
She’d been thinking of trying to pass as a traumatized war veteran, but she was only fourteen, after all; it wasn’t very believable. Of course, it was a lot more believable that bird yao – who would leap to that conclusion?
“My surname is Ouyang,” the man said, smiling brightly at her. “You should come back with me – I can teach you to speak, and we can give you a name…how about ‘Luo’ as a surname? That has to do with birds. Or we could surname you Bai, instead, since your clothing is white! Or maybe -”
She smiled helplessly at his nonsense. What a silly, cheerful man! Maybe she’d overestimated his age, he couldn’t be more than two or three years older, at most, and his brain was clearly not in the right place, filled up to the brim with romantic stories and adventure tales instead of facts.
It was a nice change, actually.
She accepted his hand as she stood.
Maybe this wouldn’t be so bad.

Lan Wangji had returned home and submitted to a dreadful punishment. The elders he had injured on Wei Wuxian’s behalf were either in treatment or recovering.
As for the rest that had been at the Nightless City…
Many were dead.
Lan Qiren landed in the Burial Mounds, lips pressed tightly together.
He knew he was taking a risk in coming here to Wei Wuxian’s lair – no matter what Lan Wangji thought, whatever good points he’d had in the past, the man was now little better than a mad dog. He’d caused the death of three thousand people just the day before, three thousand innocents that hadn’t had anything to do with anything; why would he hesitate to attack his old teacher?
There was already talk of a siege – Jiang Cheng himself had promised to lead it, to wipe off the stain on the Jiang sect’s record, and the Jin sect had been right behind him. Even Nie Mingjue had been dragged in against his will, suborned by his sect members’ need for vengeance. As for the Lan Sect…Lan Xichen had looked so stricken by the thought that Lan Qiren had volunteered for the grim duty, despite Lan Qiren having never been much of a fighter and even less of a general. He intended to take only the smallest possible contingent, and to limit their work as much as possible to cleansing the dead rather than killing those who remained there – that much, at least, he could do for his nephew.
Either way, though, no matter his powers, Wei Wuxian would not live out the week.
If Lan Qiren desired vengeance, he need only wait.
And yet, here he was.
Alone, practically unarmed – and here nonetheless.
An old woman came out from the cave and squinted at him.
“It’s over,” she said sadly. “Isn’t it?”
Lan Qiren looked at her. One of the Wen remnants that Wei Wuxian had surrounded himself with, he assumed; the ones he’d given up his comfortable life for, claiming he was only acting as a righteous man ought. Perhaps he even had thought he was, back then.
Perhaps he really had been, back then.
“Yes,” Lan Qiren said, and cleared his throat. “After what he did at the Nightless City – the verdict is unquestionably death. But the rest of you…there are armies coming, and armies are not known for their leniency, especially not on passerby with the wrong surname. But they’re not here yet. There’s still time to flee – if you go now, you could take on a new surname and find some quiet place to live on.”
Lan Wangji had said they were civilians. Civilian life was to be prioritized above all else.
Lan Qiren was only doing what he must.
Despite his well-meant warnings, however, the old lady shook her head.
“There’s nowhere to go, and we won’t give up our surname,” she said, polite but stubborn to the last. “But thank you for taking the time to come here to tell us.”
“Wangji said that there were children here,” Lan Qiren insisted, ignoring her refusal. “If you won’t flee with them, at least send those that are old enough out on their own, and hide the younger ones. Tell them to forget their surnames – most people won’t rampantly murder children, so there’s a chance they’ll make it through, and live. Can you deny them that, just for pride?”
That gave the old woman pause.
“We’ll do what we can,” she said, and then eyed him. “How good are you at medicine?”
Lan Qiren frowned. “I can’t provide care –”
“She’s already dead. Come help anyway.”
The woman in question was not already dead, but dying – she was in her late teens, seventeen or eighteen at most, and she was in labor. From the glassiness of her eyes, the redness of her cheeks, and the threadiness of her pulse, it was clear that infection had long ago set in. It was not an exaggeration to say she was dead, little better than a corpse.
She was little more than a child.
“I don’t want her to die alone,” the old woman said. “But if you stay with her, I can use the time to try to take care of the rest. You’re not wrong, I suppose – the children, at least, deserve a chance to live on, even if it means leaving our surname behind.”
Lan Qiren looked down at the woman, unconscious already and unlikely to ever wake, and yet still whimpering. “And her child?”
The old woman looked surprised. “Can a child born like this still live?”
Lan Qiren had almost no medical training beyond the most superficial basics that were the necessity for any battlefield or night-hunt, with one sole exception: he had supervised the births of both his nephews by himself with little aid – his brother’s wife hadn’t wanted anyone else to be present, possibly in an attempt to prematurely enter her grave, possibly just out of spite. He had studied very hard in the days leading up to those births, and knew far more on the subject than most men did.
“It’s possible,” he said. “Unlikely, but – possible.”
He hesitated for a long moment.
“I can take the baby,” he finally said. “Pass him off as some war-orphan child of distant Lan cousins, sent to me on account of their deaths. I could raise him, or else give him to my cousin to raise; he’s got a large enough family that no one would question it.”
“Why would you do that?”
Lan Qiren looked at the woman who was dying, little more than a child herself. “Because of the children I can’t help.”
The old woman was quiet for a little while.
“Very well,” she said, and leaned forward to whisper the name the young woman had thought about for her child into his ear. “That works with Lan as a surname, wouldn’t it? That’s not bad.”
“Not bad at all,” Lan Qiren agreed, and rolled up his sleeves, settling down beside the girl. “Not bad at all.”

Time
Growing up, Spock had often wondered why his father had deigned to bind himself in marriage to a human. “It seemed convenient” did not fully explain his decision. Why force his wife to endure what scorn the Vulcans could provide? Why bring a half-breed child into a cold world that did not want it? Spock wondered and wondered. Then he met you.
Humans felt in a way that no one on Vulcan did. Though Vulcans felt emotions more deeply than humans, by necessity they had to hide all of them from even themselves. That your emotions were somehow less was a fact–but it was hard for Spock to believe that as he spent more time with someone who wore her emotions on her sleeve quite as vividly as you did. He found himself first curious, then interested, then fond of the way you reacted to the world around you.
All of a sudden, his father’s choice made sense. That was not to say that Spock always understood his own, however. You were emotional and therefore strange. Sometimes he wasn’t sure himself what he was doing with you. If he had had a child, it was sure to have been just as confused with Spock’s choice in significant others as Spock had been of his father’s.
“Home sweet home!” you squealed as you threw yourself onto the waiting couch.
“This is not your home,” Spock felt required to remind you, “nor is that your couch. It is mine, and you are severely shortening its life span by treating it in such a manner.”
Just as Spock expected (as illogical as such a reaction was), you twisted toward him with a pout. “You invited me over.”
“I invited you over to visit, not to destroy my furniture.”
Your pout intensified.
Spock merely looked back and slowly rose a single eyebrow.
That caused a huff to erupt from between your lips before you dispensed with the pretense of being hurt. “Fine. You want me to sit on the floor?”
“No,” Spock answered. You pushed yourself into a seated position as he came closer to sit down next to you. “Simply sit like a proper adult. That way I will not have to worry about purchasing another couch anytime soon.”
“It’s not like you’re on the planet often enough to enjoy it. And I am a proper adult.”
“If that’s true, I would love to see an example of it.”
He waited. Normally if he did, you sobered up a little bit–which was, of course, good for whatever job you were supposed to be doing, but actually disappointed Spock just the smallest amount. It was almost cute, your constant moods, but he thanked every single one of the Vulcan philosophers that you could never tell he felt like that. If you knew he was irrational enough to find you cute, you would never get any work done. Scotty would have something to say about that, Spock was sure.
Finally, defeated, you hunched up your shoulders, brought your knees together, and pursed your lips. “Better?”
“What good does it do to hold your shoulders like that?”
“You are impossible!”
“I believe that is my line. Here I go to the trouble of asking you to visit when I only just saw you two days ago, and all you have done since you walked in the door is complain.”
“I’m complaining? Who’s the one saying that me laying on his couch is going to destroy it somehow?” Your voice was reaching dolphin pitch, and Spock found himself unable to suppress a smile any longer.
“[Name],” he said as the tiniest of curves pulled up his lips. “I am teasing.”
“Teasing?”
“Yes, I believe it is a human custom that couples such as ourselves grow quite accustomed to.”
One of your eyebrows slowly lifted. “I can’t really imagine you and Uhura teasing each other very much.”
“Perhaps that is why the two of us are simply friends now.”
“Like we’re gonna be if you keep up that ‘teasing’?”
“Now you really are being irrational,” Spock said, reaching for one of the thick books that rested on his coffee table. “I admitted that I was teasing. What other explanation do you want?”
He did not wait for an answer; Spock felt that he had been fair enough. Human women seemed to require a certain amount of fun interaction, and now the two of you had had it. His book had been waiting in this exact spot for him for nearly five years. There was no reason to dally any longer, but as soon as he had lifted it to his face, your fingers wrapped around his wrist and pulled his arm down.
“What are you doing?” you demanded.
Now it was Spock’s turn to lift an eyebrow. “Reading? Or have you spent so long in space that you have forgotten what a book looks like?”
“Are you teasing me again?”
“No. I really was reading, and I am well aware of how much time and physical effort is required down in engineering. It is logical to assume that you would be too busy to read during your shifts and too tired after. If you would like to become reacquainted with the hobby, I would be more than happy to lend you some material. After all–”
“I know how to read!”
Now your ears were going dark. Spock couldn’t be sure, but he thought that he was purposely trying to elicit such a response now. How strange. Perhaps he should stop, then, before something happened that made him look foolish.
“Then what is the problem?” he inquired in his usual tone.
You frowned and looked away for a few seconds before answering in a mutter, “What are you doing reading while I’m here?”
“I fail to see why your presence should prevent it.”
“Spock! Quit teasing me!”
“I’m not teasing you. I planned to get some reading done this afternoon.”
When he showed no obvious signs of further verbal abuse, the color in your ears faded and spread lighter color through your entire face. Spock waited for you to say something.
You said nothing at all. Instead, you settled onto your side to lay your head on the opposite end of the couch, and pulled your knees up to your chest. Your eyes settled dully on the bookcase in front of you. All of this he watched with a growing confusion. Though he had no plans to continue arguing with you, your sudden lack of fight was quite unnerving.
The clock on the mantel piece ticked off thirty seconds with no reaction from you at all. Seeing that there was no understanding whatever this fit of yours was supposed to imply, Spock held his book up again and began to cast his eyes along the words on the first page. But he could tell that something was wrong. You were not looking at him, of that much he was certain, and yet he was very much aware that you were there. You were there and holding silent and still. He sighed.
“I have upset you,” he said with his own gaze forward.
A distinct sniff sounded from his right, but neither agreement nor disagreement came from that side of the couch.
Spock turned to face you. “[Name].”
“What?” you asked miserably.
Spock sighed again. Even Uhura had sometimes grown upset with him, and if his time with her had taught him anything, it was that humans and Vulcans alike were expected to try to smooth things over with their significant other, whether or not the cause of complaint was perfectly rational.
“What did I do wrong? I was not aware that you would be so averse to spending the day with me.”
“It’s not that.”
“Then what is it? If you would explain yourself to me, perhaps I could work in the direction of an apology.”
He could tell by your expression that you were waging some sort of internal battle. You did not want to tell Spock what was wrong for whatever reason, and yet his suggestion that he might apologize if given good reason appealed to you despite this.
Another few moments of quiet sniffling followed, and then you at last pushed yourself back into your proper sitting position. “You don’t want to spend the day with me.”
It was times like these that Spock almost wished Jim was around to explain things to him. Almost. Spock still did not want anything like the relationships he saw Jim taking part in on a regular basis. Still, there must have been some explanation for why this blatant error had come out of your mouth. His eyebrows fell into a straight line.
“That is very obviously not the case,” he said, wondering if there was some sort of biological reason behind your temper that day. “I invited you over. Why would I invite you over if I did not want you to come? That would be illogical.”
“What’s illogical is you inviting me over only to spend the entire afternoon griping and then reading books!”
Somewhat taken aback by this outburst, Spock had to take a minute or so to gather his thoughts. Thankfully, he was prevented further foolishness by you getting to your feet to take up some impassioned pacing at the front of the living room.
“And here I thought you liked me! I barely saw you at all while we were on the ship. We’re finally home and you wanted me here and I thought–I thought–”
“You thought what?” Spock prompted you when your mind appeared to stall on this sentence.
“I thought you wanted to spend time with me!”
Spock blinked. You stood there, breathing heavily. It had not been that long of a speech, but clearly you felt its effects very deeply. His mind worked for any sort of compromise. The longer he allowed you to continue your outburst, the longer he would be kept from his book.
“[Name],” he said, holding out one hand. You frowned, which only caused Spock to want to take part in the very human ritual of eye rolling. “[Name]. Come here. Please.”
Maybe it was the please that did the trick, but it didn’t do it very well. You took only two steps forward and stopped much too far away for Spock to touch you. Very well. That would have to do for the time being.
“I am…sorry,” he began. “I invited you over with every intention of spending time with you. I do not understand why doing so should mean that I cannot get work done at the same time.”
“You did work and talk to me at the same time for years. You said you were going to wait a few days before going back to teaching at the Academy.”
“I did, and I am. But that does not mean that I do not need to prepare.”
“What about me?”
How very human of you. Then again, had you not been the epitome of human, Spock would not have loved you the way that he did. He held his hand out again. You looked everywhere but at him for another minute or so, then closed the gap. Taking your hand, he pulled you onto the cushion next to him.
“I gather that you are saying that being in the same room with me is not enough?” he asked. Your darker coloring returned, as did Spock’s smile. “I do believe I have read before of another human couple custom called dating?”
The look on your face was worth every minute of consternation prior. “Oh, n-no, we don’t have to–”
“I insist. But,” he held up a finger at your enthusiastic wriggling, “only after I finish my work. If you are amicable to waiting an hour for me to get some done, then I will be amicable to taking you to dinner after. Do we have a deal?”
Every bit of Spock, both the human and Vulcan halves, was quite certain that there would be no deal at all. There would be something wrong with that, and something wrong with his next compromise, and then his next, until it was far too late for reading or dinner.
To his surprise, you gave him a reluctant nod. His smile widened a small amount, and he lifted his book yet again. This time, there was no distraction–only the weight of your head on his shoulder as you settled in to wait.

TRACK 1: THE PROMISED LAND
*Cling cling*
“Huh…? That’s strange…I could have sworn we still had some left…”
Kino turns towards you.
“Hey! Are we all out of guava juice?”
You explain.
“Eh? I drank the last can yesterday? …I see. That sucks.”
*Thud*
“Guess I will have to wait until after our next grocery trip then. …Although I’m sure you’ll give me an earful about the importance of saving money.”
He plops down on the couch.
*Rustle*
“Yeah, yeah. I know I exaggerated a bit just now. However, you can’t deny that you’re always being very mindful of our spendings, aren’t you? ーー Come on, don’t just stand there. Join me on the couch.”
You sit down next to him.
“While we’re pretty much settled here, there’s still plenty of things missing. However, I don’t think that means we have to abstain from everything. So tell me straight away if you feel troubled, okay? I’ll make sure to arrange the things you want.”
You look up at him.
“What’s wrong?”
You explain.
“Ahー You’ve been holding back because you remembered that? Well, you’re right when you say that we didn’t have it easy back when we had only just moved in here. We had to build our own home from scratch after all. The thing we struggled the most with was money for food. I can’t let you starve to death, so that’s one thing we have to ensure we have enough of.”
You apologize for causing him trouble.
“Haah…? What are you saying? I don’t see it as troublesome in the slightest. You followed me here to this place because you had faith in me, so I’m obviously going to try my best for you in return? So I won’t let you take such a servile attitude towards me. All you need to do is thank me, okay?”
You express your gratitude.
“Mmh! You’re welcome!”
You bring up the Ghouls.
“Yeah, exactly. We have to express our gratitude towards the Ghouls as well. If it weren’t for them, we would have been at a complete loss. ーー To be honest, I was doubtful at first, but right now we’re somehow managing, so those days we struggled might have been worth it in the end. I doubt my past self would have been capable of admitting that though. I think this is all…thanks to you?”
You become flustered.
“Hehe…No need to be so modest! However, just like you said, I do think that everyone’s aid is what helped support our current life. Buuuuutーー No way I’m ever telling them straight-up.”
You seem confused.
“Why not, you ask? Isn’t that obvious? Don’t make me have to repeat myself.”
You chuckle.
“Especially to Yuuri. You never know how that guy will react. We’ve known each other for a long time after all.”
You tilt your head to the side.
“Even back when we were both kids, he’d tease me ever so often. ーー So keep this a secret from the others, okay?”
You nod.
“Mmh. That’s a promise.”
Kino gets up from the couch.
“Ah, speaking of which…It’s already been a year since we came here, hasn’t it?”
You tell him that it flew by in no time.
“Exactly! Time sure flies by…There were so many things we had to do after all. I wonder how things are going over in the human world right now?”
You wonder about how different things could be now.
“Mmh. Unlike here in the Demon World, they’re much more susceptible to change. If you were still living there, you might have been busy around this time of year as well.”
You suddenly become lost in thought.
“Hm? What are you thinking about?”
You explain.
“Ahー I heard that there’s many set events and ceremonies in the human world. Did you remember those?”
You seem surprised by Kino’s knowledge.
“Excuse me? Don’t underestimate me. I know about those as well. There’s the flower-viewing in Spring and the festivals in Summer…Also Halloween and Christmas. See? I’m well-versed, aren’t I? …Ah! There’s this thing called ‘birthdays’ as well. In the human world, there’s a lot of events which are linked to the celebration of one’s birth, right? The hinamatsuri (1) and coming-of-age ceremony are just a few other examples, no? On top of that, birthdays as well…You humans sure love to celebrate, don’t you?”
You ask Kino when his birthday is.
“Eh? My birthday…? Are you curious?”
You nod.
“My birthday, you see…Fufu. I won’t tell you~ It’s a secret.”
You puff out your cheeks.
“Your birthday is just the day on which you were born, right? It’s honestly nothing special, so why does it matter?”
You beg him.
“Eeeh~? You want to know that badly?”
You nod.
“Hmー Let me think…Right. Fufu. I just had a great idea. …If you’re so insistent, I’ll make an exception and tell you.”
You smile brightly.
“However, there’s one condition. ーー You have to throw me one of those ‘birthday parties’ exactly as I would like it. If you can satisfy me, I’ll consider telling you. What do you say?”
You ask if he will tell you his birthday then.
“No, I never promised I would, did I? I only said that I would consider it. If you fail to impress me, we don’t have a deal. When that happens, you’ll have no other choice but to admit defeat.”
You promise you’ll try your best.
“Yeah, yeah. Give it your best shot.”
You nod enthusiastically.
(mumbles) “Ah-aah…Look at her all fired up. Oh well, I suppose this will make for some fine entertainment.”
“Oh no, nothing. I am just excited to see what kind of birthday party you’ll put together for me. Well then…It’s settled, right?”
You nod again.
“Guess I have no other choice but to help out as well then. I’ll take you to the perfect place to hold this party.”
You seem surprised you’re not holding the party at home.
“I wouldn’t mind holding it here, but if we’re gonna go through the trouble, I see no harm in moving to a different location as a nice change of pace. Soーー”
Kino lifts you into his arms.
“Here…I’ll carry you in my arms. (2) You like it when I do this, don’t you? We’re going there like this, so hang on tight, okay?”
You ask where you’re going.
“Our destination is still a secret. However, it’s an amazing place. You’ve got something to look forward to when we get there~”
Kino walks away.
ーー TO BE CONTINUED ーー
Translation notes
(1) Hinamatsuri is a Japanese festivity which takes place in March. It’s also sometimes called ‘girl’s day’, since it’s only celebrated by females. Young girls are commonly gifted special dolls which are supposed to represent traditional court women from the Heian Period.
(2) This is called お姫様抱っこ or ‘ohime-sama dakko’ in Japanese, which literally means ‘Princess carry’. Definitely fitting for Kino, since he often refers to the MC as ‘Princess’.

All Is Lost
Tumblr media
Summary: Zombies have taken over the world, humanity on the edge of extinction. All hope was lost. Despite that, Wanda couldn’t seem to let go of Y/n, who had fallen victim to the plague herself.
Word Count: 2,263
Genre: Angst
Requested?: No
Warnings: Graphic depictions of violence, death, cannibalism, suicide, mentions of blood. Spoilers for Ep. 5 of What If...?
A/N: I know, I know, I’m gonna get into the stuff I promised soon. But for now, the Zombies episode inspired me and this came out. If you haven’t seen the episode yet, go watch it. Its amazing and depressing. Also this is DARK guys, probably the darkest thing I’ve ever written, so...Happy Reading!
The Zombie apocalypse was always something everyone joked about, but never something that anyone could actually predict.
Everything happened so quickly, Wanda could barely keep up. It’s hard to believe that everything was so normal only two weeks ago. Now, she was locked away with Vision in an abandoned military base in New Jersey. Desperate to survive for as long as possible while Vision worked on a cure.
Some of his experiments had been a success, most notably Scott Lang who he was able to revert back from his zombified state. However, the man was now only a severed head.
Despite the success, Vision was less than optimistic. For one, Scott was one of the first infected. While the cure worked on him, the android theorized that the disease has mutated greatly since then, and it was likely impossible to cure everyone. And even if he could, the technology to do so is beyond human comprehension and therefore doesn’t exist.
Vision might have all but given up hope, but Wanda didn’t. She couldn’t. She refused to give up on you.
Wanda and you have been best friends for as long as Wanda had been an Avenger. You were already a member of the team and greeted her with an open mind and open arms, despite all she had done. You had fire powers, and while your powers weren’t identical to Wanda’s, you still offered some basic tips and tricks to keep such explosive powers at bay.
It wasn’t a surprise that she fell in love with you.
But her stupid fear had to get in the way, and when you came to confess your own feelings for her, she panicked and rejected you. You were so heartbroken, Wanda didn’t need to read your mind to know that.
And it kills her everyday knowing that that was the last interaction she had with you. The last one with you as yourself anyway.
All that remained now was the flesh hungry, blood thirsty monster that wore your, now rotting, skin.
This wasn’t you, she knows that. She looked into your mind and saw no trace of the woman you once were, the one she loved with all her heart. She couldn’t feel you, you were gone.
Despite this, Wanda couldn’t let you go. She couldn’t handle losing you entirely. She already lost almost everyone.
She managed to convince Vision to keep you in the base for testing. You were locked behind a large steel door, with only a window to see you through. But you were here, and that’s all Wanda cared about.
The cure wasn’t working for you. Your powers caused it to incinerate when it entered your system, proving it to be ineffective. Still, she refused to give up.
Vision thought it best to terminate you after the failed tests, but Wanda begged him not to. Knowing he couldn’t overpower her, and sensing his friend’s distress with anything that comes to you, he agreed. As long as Wanda had it under control.
She doubted he knew that she was luring innocent survivors into the base so you could feed on them, but she did what she had to do.
Wanda spent most of her days sitting outside of your cell. The first few days, you were ravenous. Banging on the walls and trying to burn them down, growling and screeching with the inhuman noise that took over your vocal chords, but you didn’t manage to break free. After a while, it seemed you have given up, and just sat in place. Only moving when Wanda opened the cell and let some of your ‘food’ in.
There were times where Wanda thought that maybe, just maybe, the cure was working more than they thought. You seemed to have recognized her, your facial expressions formed into ones that she had recognized and missed dearly. But that hope quickly died when she would peek into your head and still sense nothing.
“Hey, Y/n.” Wanda walked up to outside your cell and sat cross-legged like she did everyday. Your head rose, staring at her with your now glowing yellow eyes. “Still no progress on the cure, but don’t worry, I’m not giving up yet.” You offered no response, not that she expected one. “It’s hard. It’s only getting worse out there...” She sighed as she trailed off. She raised her hand to the glass, like she always did. “I’m going to figure it out...we’re gonna get you back to normal, and I’m going to tell you every day how much I love you. I miss you so much, but...we’re almost there. I can feel it...” Wanda’s voice started choking up, as tears ran down her face. “We deserve our happy ending.”
Her hand was still pressed against the glass as she finished her speech. She was about to lower it, but then something unexpected happened. You stared at her hand curiously, beginning to raise your own. Wanda watched, smile forming on her face as your arm made it’s way to the glass.
“Wanda! Please come here, we have a situation.” You had almost pressed your hand against Wanda’s, when Vision’s voice interrupted. Your attention turned to the direction it came from and you let out a growl, clearly angry at the interruption. Wanda sighed in disappointment, but she tried not to let it take over. You still showed massive improvement, something worth reporting back to Vision. “It’s okay.” She soothed you. “I’m going to go see what he wants then I’ll be right back, okay? I know you’re hungry, I’ll get you some food too.” You didn’t offer a response as she walked off.
“Vis! I have to tell you-” Wanda began as she walked into the main room, but cut herself off at the new faces. She didn’t recognize the bald woman with the spear or the wimpy looking man in a workers uniform, but she was familiar with Peter. What surprised her most though, was Bruce Banner. A man she hasn’t seen in over three years. “What is going on?”
“I ran into them outside the premises. Apparently word has gotten out about the cure.” Vision answered before turning his attention back to the guests. “As I told you, I am afraid we cannot help you. The cure seems to be a moot point.”
“Well, what about-” Peter began, but he was interrupted by a new voice.
“For something you have no hope for, you sure don’t have a problem bringing in new test subjects.” Wanda recognized Bucky Barnes’ voice. She turned around, and her eyes widened as she saw King T’challa on his arm, struggling to stand on his one remaining leg.
Shit.
“My king! We thought you dead.” The bald woman exclaimed in relief and surprise.
“Your highness. I was not aware you were in the base.” Vision said, confused on how that got by him. It didn’t take him long to figure out why. “Wanda...”
“I’m sorry.” Wanda whispered, knowing she was caught. “The cure wasn’t working on Y/n, and in order to keep her at bay, I had to feed her.”
“So you fed her our King?” A spear was raised to her throat, threateningly.
“It was nothing personal, I promise. I have her under control and the cure is starting to work, I know it. We just need a little more time!”
“Why not just kill her? You lured innocent people to their deaths just for her when there a couple million more Zombies out there that you could use for testing. Ones that have a chance of being cured.” The whole room went quiet after Bucky said that.
“Uh oh. Shouldn’t have said that.” Wanda heard Scott say, but she was too busy glaring at Bucky. Her eyes started to go red, but before she could do anything, she noticed the spear held to her throat begin to glow red and melt. The woman dropped the spear as it began to burn her hands.
“Did it just suddenly get like, super hot?” Peter asked as he began to fan himself.
“Oh no...” Wanda trailed off. She looked up to notice the steal walls that led to your cell begin to melt. “You’ve done it now...she hasn’t eaten in days.” Before anyone could respond, the steel doors melted completely. The man in the uniform was unfortunate enough to be standing in front of it, as a strong burst of flame shot out and incinerated him on the spot. Only a second later, you flew out the door, covered in flames as you hovered above everyone.
Wanda watched in horror as you began to fight everyone. They weren’t holding up very well, and that’s when Wanda finally realized what she had done. This wasn’t you, and if you were still here, you would hate to see your body be used to attack and kill others.
“Vision! Get us out of here!” She heard Bruce yell, and Vision shot a blast towards the wall, blowing it up and letting everyone out. Wanda turned her focus back to you, you watched them starting to escape and you began to fly after them, but a red mist surrounded you before you could. You turned your head, starting to growl, but stopped when you saw it was Wanda.
“Y/n. Stop...” You tilted your head, still struggling to move as Wanda came closer. She took a chance and reached up, gently placing a hand on your face. “I am so sorry...you never deserved this...” Your face softened at the touch, beginning to show the signs of emotion that Wanda desperately held onto. However, it was clear now that it was too late.
You snapped out of it, as you managed to break free from Wanda’s hold. You opened your mouth wide, intent on biting and feeding on her, but something stopped you. You hesitated, and Wanda noticed. You settled for pushing her aside to the ground as you reignited yourself and flew out of the base.
Wanda picked herself up after a moment, intent on stopping you. She ran past Okoye’s body, charred and eaten, but she was sure there was little time until she turned. She ran faster to where you were, now facing off against Bucky. She sprinted further, about to take off and fly when she paused.
Vision was face down on the ground. She kneeled next to him, glowing red hand turning over his body, afraid of what she’ll see. Once he was turned, Wanda gasped at the sight. The mind stone was torn out of his head.
“Oh no...no, no, no...” She held his body, tears slowly building as she mourned the loss of her best friend. She had officially lost everything. “I am so sorry Vis...I’m going to make this right, I promise.”
She heard Bucky scream. She looked over to see you start to feed on him. She saw Bruce, Peter, Scott and T’challa in the distance, making their way to the jet. They were your next target.
No. Wanda wasn’t going to let that happen. It ends now.
She used her powers to propel herself forward, landing directly in your path. You growled at her yet again as she used her powers to hold you. “Y/n...please, stop.” You struggled to get out of the hold, but Wanda held on. “This isn’t you...you wouldn’t want this...I love you more than anything, and I’m so sorry...I hope one day, you’ll forgive me.”
Wanda used her powers to grab the gun laying by Bucky’s side. She held in to your head, ready to pull the trigger...but she couldn’t. She let out a scream of frustration and dropped her hold on both you and the gun. The gun fell to the ground, but you haven’t moved.
“I can’t do it...I...I’m not strong enough...” Wanda began crying, shutting her eyes and waited for you to finish her off. She failed everyone, no one deserved death more than her. She opened her eyes when nothing came. You stood, staring at her with a tilt of your head. The yellow of your eyes dimming as you stared.
“W....Wan...” You struggled to let out, but it was enough for Wanda to hear. She cried even harder. She was right, you were almost there...but it was too late now.
You took in your surroundings as best you could, you didn’t have a lot of awareness, but you knew enough to piece everything together. You saw the influx of zombies starting to enter to base.  Everyone needed to get away. You turned back to Wanda, and you knew what you had to do. You felt the little control you had start to slip away.
You bent down and picked up the discarded gun. You shakily pointed it to your temple, the control slipping away faster and faster. “Love....you....I...sorry...” You managed to croak out. Before you could lose control completely, you pulled the trigger.
Wanda watched in horror as you shot yourself in the head. Pieces of your brain landing on her, your blood drenching her. She looked down to see your body, half your face still together, but you were gone. Truly gone.
She knelt down sobbing, as she held your body. After a moment she looked up to see the Hulk appear as the zombies began to overwhelm the base. She saw the jet take off, and she gave a weak smile. They got away. Wanda’s job was done. This is where her story ends. All was lost for her.
So when the zombies finally reached her, she didn’t fight back. Accepting her death with open arms.

p. 2
Tumblr media
Daichi Sawamura Who says it first: You
“You’re going to do great! I love you! Good luck!” With those words, you ran out of the gym and made your way up to the stands, perching yourself over the edge with the rest of the Karasuno fans. You glanced down at the court to make sure you had a good view, trying to give a smile to your boyfriend.
It was odd though, Daichi hadn’t moved. It was like he was frozen in the spot you left him. His body seemed stiff and his feet were glued to the floor.
The Karasuno team all looked up at you with wide eyes, even Kiyoka staring up at you in surprise, most of their jaws open. You tilted your head in confusion - did something happen while you came up to the seats? Was it something you said-
Oh.
Daichi turned and looked up at you with wide eyes. His lips parted but there wasn’t a sound coming out. What was that look in his eyes? Was it… panic? Annoyance? Were you not supposed to say that?
You could feel your insecurities rising up in you - how stupid were you? The two of you had only been going out for a few months now! How could you say something so carelessly?
But it hadn’t felt careless. In fact it almost felt… effortless. You did love him. You’d known this for a while now, even if you had avoided voicing it. Ever since he met your parents and was the sweetest guest ever - they loved him. You loved him. And now those words were in the air for him to decide what to do with.
“Y-You love me?” He managed to get out after a while. You wanted nothing more than to sink back into a chair and hide. This wasn’t the time. This was an official match. Daichi had to focus, how was he supposed to focus if he was going to break up with you right now- “I love you too!” He declared loudly, a smile growing from his lips to his eyes.
Your eyes widened and blinked at him, feeling the genuineness of his words. “I love you, Y/N!” He repeated, giving a firm nod. “And we’ll win this match for you! Promise!” He assured you, Sugawara and Asahi coming up behind him and clapping him on his shoulders, both of them sending you a thumbs up.
“We love you too, Y/N!” Sugawara grinned and Daichi smacked his head playfully. “What! She’s nice to Asahi when we’re not, and she bakes me food,” Sugawara smirked sending you another cheeky grin that makes you laugh. Asahi just chuckled, but nodded in agreement. The four of you had gotten close even before Daichi and you had started going out and their bond was something you always loved seeing in action.
“Shut up,” Daichi grumbled to his friend but shot another look at you, as if memorizing this moment before going out and getting ready for the game. He had never broken a promise to you, and he wasn’t going to start with this one.
Tumblr media
Bokuto Kotaro Who says it first: Him
“Are those for me?” Bokuto gaped as you walked into the gym, his jaw practically on the floor seeing the container of sweets in your hands.
“Well they’re for everyone really,” you laughed, admiring the sweet smile on your boyfriend’s face, “but you can have the first pick just cause you’re cute.”
Bokuto was drooling already - he loved it when you made him any kind of food. He grabbed the container from you, peppering your face with kisses as he attempted to get it open.
“Akaashi! Look! Y/N baked us some treats!” Bokuto called, waving his best friend over. “It’s no wonder I love you, you always make the best food!” He grinned over at you, shoving the first sweet he could grab into his mouth.
He hadn’t even swallowed before noticing the look on your face, eyes wide like you were a deer in headlights, “Sumfin’ wron’?” He asked you through brownie crumbs. He turned to Akaashi who had slowed down making his way over upon hearing his friend’s words, but he only offered a raised eyebrow in return. “What?” Bokuto asked confused.
“Bokuto, you idiot,” Akaashi shook his head in disappointment. “I don’t think that’s how you’re meant to say that kind of stuff. Isn’t it supposed to be more... private?”
Bokuto frowned a little, thinking back to his last words, “That she makes good food? But it’s true-” And there it was. Bokuto’s whole body froze in realization, turning to you with eyes as wide as an owl. “Y/N-” he started nervously.
“It’s okay!” You offered a grin, rubbing the back of your head nervously, “You can take it back if you want to! I’ll pretend like I didn’t hear it!”
Akaashi’s fingers slipped the container out of Bokuto’s hands quickly, sneaking away to give you guys some privacy while also trying to get the rest of the team some food before Bokuto ate it all.
“Take it back?” Bokuto thought it over for a moment before shaking his head, “Would you want me to take it back?”
You shifted nervously, “I mean I wouldn’t ever want you to say something you didn’t mean.”
Bokuto laughed, a sound that surprised you but also put your nerves at ease, “Why wouldn’t I mean it?” He grinned at you, hands on his hips. “I’ve loved you since we met, Y/N. I knew from the moment I laid eyes on you that I’d want to be with you forever.” He beamed proudly, smiling down at you. That smile froze for a moment, his eyes widening again, “Unless… you don’t feel the same…” Somehow it seemed like his hair drooped and you could see the signs of sad!Bokuto coming on.
“Of course I feel the same,” you insisted quickly, your face feeling hot. “I… I just didn’t think we’d have this moment in front of your teammates,” you whispered playfully, laughing a little.
Bokuto glanced at his team who were eagerly eating the snacks and watching the show in front of them: starring you two.
“Oi! Go eat somewhere else! I’ve got to finish declaring my love to the most wonderful human in the world!” Bokuto ordered before turning back to you with a smile while Akaashi shoved the rest of the team out the door (much to their protest). “I’m sorry for... not making it more intimate.” He apologized with a light chuckle, “I’ll make it up to you though!”
You shook your head with a smile, reaching up and pressing a kiss to his nose, “As long as you mean it, I don’t care where you say it.”
Bokuto smiled and scooped you up into a huge hug, pressing his lips to your ear before murmuring, “I love you, Y/N. I love you. I love you. I love you,” he chated softly, “I’ll love you forever, every single day of my life.”
Tumblr media
Ushijima Wakatoshi Who says it first: Him
Ushijima never really cared for interviews but he knew that his team being as good as they were warranted some media attention. But what he hated most about it was their constant need to know everything about him.
“What’s your favourite food? What a line that makes your team really inspired? What kind of workout routine do you follow? What’re your plans for after this tournament?”
Most of the time he would grunt a short answer or excuse himself and let someone else answer, but this time around, it didn’t seem like Tendō was going to be able to save him.
“Who was that girl you were talking to before the game? Is that your girlfriend? What’s it like for her knowing her boyfriend is being watched as a top player in all of Japan?”
Ushijima wondered why they didn’t ask you that question - what was he supposed to know about how you thought about it? At that thought, Ushijima decided not to run away from this interview. He didn’t want you to feel forced into explaining your feelings and knew that he had grown accustomed to all the questions and reporters - you might not have.
“She is my girlfriend, yes.” Ushijima stated flatly, his eyes subconsciously glancing in your direction. Tendō was saying something about the other team and making you laugh with this snarky and playful songs. A gentleness grew in Ushijima’s eyes, just watching you. It was subtle but later when you watched the recorded interview online, you’d be able to catch it. Your heart would flutter a little, wondering if he was really looking at you at the time. “I don’t want to speak for her feelings, but she’s always very proud of the team and our performance.”
“How long have you two been together?”
“Almost 2 years now.”
“Must be young love then,” the reporter had grinned, nodding to themselves in satisfaction.
There were a few more questions but Ushijima’s mind had practically left the interview already. He thought about what the reporter said, calling it young love. He had heard his mother describe her feelings towards his father like that. It had been young love.
But was that how young love ended? Was it always a crash and burn that ended in his mom’s quiet cries when she thought he couldn’t hear?
Ushijima’s mind filled with worry, something he hadn’t felt in a long time. There was a pit of nerves that sat in his chest, refusing to move. What was there to be done to stop the crash of a young love?
You came over as he hydrated himself off to the side, the reporters finally leaving him alone, “They really want to know everything about you huh?” You laughed, smiling up at him and giving his arm a quick squeeze. “You should take some time to stretch out.”
Ushijima nodded but stood there for a moment longer, looking down at you, “I love you, Y/N.”
It was blunt but the look in his eyes said everything else. You stared at him in surprise. 2 years it had been and those words hadn’t left his lips before. It hadn’t really worried you - Ushijima was extremely loyal and even if you were worried, he was usually always busy with volleyball so it wasn’t like there was even time for him to find someone else. You often thought it was because of how things went with his parents that he took things slow… but why now?
“Do you not feel the same?” He asked after a moment, a small crease in his forehead.
You quickly shook your head, grinning up at him, “Of course I do! I just… I didn’t expect you to say it.”
Ushijima’s forehead creased further - had he not said it before? Didn’t she know?
Maybe this was what Tendō had talked about before. You’re a real quiet dude, Ushijima. I wonder if Y/N tries to figure out what’s going on in that head of yours like the rest of us. But you know, relationships have to have some sort of communication… you do tell her things don’t you?
At the time, Ushijima had thought Tendō was talking about normal things. Of course he told you about how volleyball was going, how he was struggling to keep his mind at school and not on the court, what kind of food he was craving, things like that. But… could Tendō have been talking about feelings?
“It’s okay,” you quickly interjected, giving him a smile, “I didn’t expect you to say it sooner or anything. The thing I love about you is that you always say what you mean, so I figured you just weren’t ready yet.”
“I’ve loved you for a long time, Y/N,” Ushijima commented softly, reaching his hand up and gently caressing your cheek. “I’m sorry I never said it. But I’ve always felt it.”
You could feel your face go hot in his hand, moving into it just a little more, “I’ve always loved you too, Ushijima,” you whispered to him gently. A small smile tugged at his lips and he pressed a kiss to your forehead before taking your advice and starting to stretch out his limbs.
After that, he started saying it a little more often. Communication seemed to be important to a relationship, this he understood. So if that’s what was needed, he would do it. This young love wouldn’t crash, he’d make sure of it.
