Beautiful sambaified afro-brasileira version of Angolan folklore, sung mostly in Kimbundu. I like to imagine this is the kind of music people used to make ten thousand years ago (except for the guitar, of course).

Tinariwen - Chet Boghassa

Everyone's favourite Tamazights with a more upbeat track this time. Somebody provided a translation in the comment section, it's (unsurprisingly) a rebel song.

Orange Poem & Mateus Aleluia - Cuts

Very slow blues from a Brasilian band, with fantastic vocals by Mateus Aleluia of Os Tincoãs fame. You can say it's cheesy, I won't care.

Altai Kai - Maral Deer

Maral Deer is the spiritual Mother Deer as depicted in Chinghiz Aitmatov's The White Ship. If you've enjoyed Dersu Uzala, you're going to like it. (If you didn't, I cannot imagine what you are doing on my blog.)

Nu Genea - Vesuvio

Italofunk/disco with a children's choir. Nothing could go wrong, and nothing does, orchestration is just perfect both for the dancefloor and for listening at home. Whole album's fire, too.

Hello, I think it's worth mentioning that Rammstein have used quotes and allusions to Goethe's work in several songs (Rosenrot, Dalai Lama), as well as Heirate mich being applicable as a Heathcliff POV (I unsure whether they intended that, though). Their Ohne dich is one of the most heart-rending takes on loneliness their genre ever produced. It's a shame that many people don't engage with this side of them, there is a twisted romanticism to their work next to the squick and darkness.
