I desperately need a rise of tmnt reaction fanfic, but very specifically I want two fics. First I want a fic where the boys from season 1 episode 1 watch the movie, because I think it would be fucking amazing with angst and drama. And two, I want the future timeline bois to watch the movie, hehe. Just yoink them from when they died and make them watch the movie, fucking amazing angst potential my guys.

I wanna give this motherfucker the Peepaw treatment soooo badly and I don’t even know why

Maybe it’s cuz he doesn’t have the same self blaming, “it’s all my fault” hang ups that tends to get assigned to Rise F!Leo. No, all his bitterness is directed outwards. He felt like Donny abandoned them. He watched his father give his life to save him and his brothers only for that sacrifice to drive them all apart. He watched his brothers grow into (arguably) the worst possible versions of themselves.

And then that’s all gone, suddenly. How he gets back to the past or survives the fight with the Shredder, I have no idea. But everyone seems to have collectively Decided that Rise F!Leo can survive a laser blast that literally disintegrates him on screen and still end up back in the past anyway so I think anything goes really. The fact of the matter is he’s there, in a past that maybe doesn’t belong to him.

And it must be so strange because maybe he feels like he should be glad to have survived, to have been given this second chance but… I feel like he’d also feel so far removed from it all. He got so used to the way things were in his universe that he forgot how they used to be. Seeing Leo and Raph now, who still argue, yes, but who still have that brotherly bond, he must wonder if it will truly last. Donatello, maybe not his, but still as young as his last memory of him, who is the only other one who knows the world he came from, but Donatello only spent a short time there and was scarred by the experience. He can’t bring himself to let those thirty years weigh on his brother’s shoulders too. He was so angry when he first saw Donny again back in his world, but in the here and now all of that just bleeds out of him. This Donatello is still just a kid, like his brother when he disappeared, still just a kid. And his younger self, his younger self. Still so vibrant and optimistic, he doesn’t know how to be that anymore, he gave it up a long time ago because he had to. I almost wonder if they would be somewhat afraid to face each other. Young Mikey, afraid of the kind of person he could grow to be without his brothers, Michelangelo afraid to face what could have been, if maybe he’d just held onto hope a little longer.

Not even to mention seeing his father alive again, maybe wondering “is he proud of me? Is he proud of the ninja I became, even at such a terrible cost?” But he can never ask the question, he just can’t.

Seeing April and Casey again. Knowing that April will get to grow into her old age not as a hardened soldier but happy and free, as she always should have been, Casey by her side and he actually gets to grow old instead of dying young.

Everything is as it should have been, the life he wished he had gotten to be a part of, and now he’s here but… he’s different, because nothing went right for him. So how does he learn to live again? I wanna know.

Immediate thoughts; if peepaws were to play card games bith WDS and Reunion would be shch nightmares for having a " fast hand " stealing cards, swapping...etc.

Oh, Reunion F!Leo is a proud cheater! He’s like his father, a rat, when it comes to card games and the likes. The others know he’s cheating, but they can’t prove it so he remains champ.

WDS F!Leo is a 50/50 player. Sometimes ghosty F!Donnie helps out with the games, but sometimes F!Donnie likes to throw F!Leo under the bus by making him lose just for some shits and giggles. He tries to cheat, but he’s usually caught by F!Mikey or Reunion.

DMD F!Leo is a threat to Reunion’s champ title. This is because of the constant mind games he has to maneuver around from being by Big Mama’s side so frequently, it’s not easy actively avoiding possible champion fights like we saw in Return of a Champion. He cheats, not as obvious as Reunion, but he tries to be sneaky about it.

LCD F!Leo tries not to cheat too much. But he definitely hates being the “weaker link” among the others, although he doesn’t do much to fight against that status. He is usually the first to leave, and sometimes loses on purpose just so he can leave early. “Don’t bring attention to yourself,” is something he often tells himself when sticking around his counterparts.

And just for funsies:

So Much For Grabbing The Bottle

I finally got the chance to read So Much For Grabbing A Slice (and it is seriously AMAZING, please check it out if you haven't yet) and I couldn't get the idea of ITBOTB Blue running into CJ in a peepaw multiverse situation out of my head

"Hey, Mister Peanut! C'mere a minute, would ya?"

Blue tapped his foot on the ground, leaning on the couch in a way that he hoped came off as casual and did a good job of hiding how much this whole multiverse situation had him freaked out. 

"Pardon?"

"Ahh, don't worry about it, timeline difference, I think. Must be weird, being older than all of us turtles."

"You'd be surprised what I've gotten used to."

Blue hummed with a frown, running his tongue over his back teeth.

"I bet I would. Ah, look, Casey-"

"It's CJ."

Blue raised an eyebrow, then shrugged.

"Alright, then, CJ. I'm sure this is weird coming from me- I mean, if you're actually as old as you look, I could probably be your kid."

"Is there a point to this?"

Blue chuckled, putting his hand up. 

"Alright, alright, I'll cut to the chase. Look, I know you're not my Casey, and I know I'm not your Master Leonardo, and I hope I'm not crossing a line by saying this, but... I'm proud of you. I never imagined my boy could make it to your age. Seeing a version of him that has... I can't even imagine how strong you must be."

CJ blinked, not sure how to respond.

“Uh… thanks?”

"Ahh, I know, I know, I made it weird. But hey, really, I mean it. I'm proud of you. You look like you've been through about five different kinds of hell in wet socks, but here you are, still kicking. That's incredible, CJ. Even if it's just from me, you deserve to be told that, at least once."

CJ leaned on his cane, looking the turtle over.

“That, uh… thank you.”

Blue winked. “Anytime.”

“Which one is yours?”

“Hmm? Oh, you mean my Casey?”

CJ nodded.

Blue grinned and pointed.

“Mine’s the little highlighter over there trying to arm wrestle your Shelldon,” Blue cupped his hand around his mouth, calling out. “Doing great, champ! You got this- oof, no, no he doesn’t, that looked painful. Eh, he’ll be fine.”

“That explains a lot about you.”

“I’m choosing to take that as a compliment. …He’s a good kid. Strong kid. He’s better than I was at his age, that’s for sure.”

CJ fiddled with his cane, taking in the scene. The walking crayon box that was Blue’s Casey had already shaken it off and was begging Neo for another match.

“He seems happy.”

“I think he is. The past has been good to him, it’s nice to see him finally able to laugh, you know? Not looking over his shoulder all the time, not wondering which one of us he’ll have to bury next. He can finally just… live. I hope you get that, too. Aaaaanyways, that’s enough sappiness from ol Peepaw Blue-”

“Yeah, again, I’m older than you.”

Blue waved him off, getting to his feet with loud cracks and pops ringing out from his knees.

“He- hey, Casey! Hi!”

“Shush, you. Any-ways, I’ve hogged you long enough, I should go check up on my kids. Take care of yourself, okay?” He patted CJ’s shoulder with a wink and called behind him as he walked off. “And tell wet napkin me I said hi, yeah?”

“Wh- wet napkin?”

A near identical Leo (minus the stickers and dad robe but plus massive eyebags, a prosthetic arm and a tearstained mask)  started rushing towards CJ with the speed of an apex predator.

Peepaw Nightmare Blunt Rotation AU Dump (i know the name sucks)

Yes I'm calling it that, my brain associates it with that now so unfortunately it will be called that till I think of something better. Inspired by this post by @kyymie.

There's a lot of moments like "heh, Donnie used to say the same thing" being said by Leo to Donbot.

They don't have super emotional talks often, it's a lot of awkward silence and jokes but then there's the small things. Donbot fixing up Leo's arm, Leo and Mikey just having a silent understanding from looking at the masks on their weapons, Donbot and Raph sparring occasionally cause Donbot can take the hits.

They all know it's not their brothers. But there are still moments where they see them in these alternate versions. And brothers are brothers across time and space.

"They would be proud" "They don't blame you" "They would want you to be happy"

They'd all be alternate timelines to what happens to them (no duh). Donbots and Mikey's would likely be the most varied to what we see in The Wasteland Warrior and The Last Ronin. Leo and Raph would just be taken before they could die.

This convergence of timelines would likely have to happen in a world where they're all dead or never existed.

The main plot would either be finding a way for them to all get back to their timelines or dealing with the fact that they're not dead yet.

If it was the "getting back to my world" plot, Raph would be trying to get back to the Donnie that went to the future, Donbot would be trying to get back to his Raph before whatever event caused him to be the last one, Mikey would be trying to get back to April, and Leo would be trying to get to Casey Jr.

"Of course, out of all of us Mikey has all his bits, no offense Don" "Hey it just means I can take a hit better than any of you"

To see each other like this is P to the A to the I to the N to say the least. It's extremely bittersweet, like if you look in the dictionary a photo of these four in the same room is there.

YOU HAVE NO FUVKJN CLUE WHAT KIND OF SHIT LEONARDO HAMATO DOES TO ME. GODDAMN. theres a reason im obsessed w this boy and those reasons are Many. hes just like every other leo if they got a moment to be a person and it drive me fuckin nuts. bonkers, even. hes still analytical he still cares with all his heart hed still do anything to keep them safe and hell still do it alone he still cares about tradition and the status quo and he refuses to show that he cares both because he doesnt want to break that status quo as hes not the eldest anymore and because he doesnt want to stop being able to be carefree and happy. but hes still made up of a leader (he still wears red beneath his blue, a mask that doesnt hide a thing-and the leader wears red, doesnt he, doesnt he?) and god, hed still do anything to keep them safe. hes still the head, and the legacy, and. karai. you are not alone. and yet, both her and leo, they readily threw themselves into a prison that they thought theyd never escape from. no one is alone. except for them. because they have to, this is their duty, this is their comeuppance, they have to be a hero, they have to be the savior. and leos closeness with karai and. and when they leave karai and then when they leave raph, both times, he has to be dragged away. and he locks himself in a prison dimension. and hes calling casey 'case' by the end of the movie, and his supposed last words to him are to say hes proud. and hes so bright and kind and annoying. and. theres just. god theres so much i could say about leo. i use jokes to cope, with my last breath i told you so, hero moves are totally your style, youve been portal chopped. and he only cries in the prison dimension. the moment that portal opens he stops. and he doesnt say a thing between youve been portal chopped and. and, 'took you guys long enough'. like he knew theyd save him. and mikeys portals were a miracle. and he left a katana there. and its a belief of mine that, afterwards, hes more subdued and careful and out of the way. its not about me. and maybe he pushes that too far. and maybe, hes always worked hard to keep his hurt from them, so they dont have to bother with it. mikey needs more help, donnie is more sickly, raph is trying so hard. that last thought was off the hook idk abt that one yet dont take it too seriously. but anyways i think a lot abt him and caseys relationship too. the gentle carefulness that could bloom there alongside bright burning youth and love and hope. and casey was their final stand, and he did it. and he told him, i dont wanna lose you again. and like..just. leos everything. the masks he hides behind and the person underneath and how its clear he cares and..leo is the soul. mikey is the heart and donnie is the mind and raph is the body and leo is the soul. tuning the background noise and guiding them, quiet or loud, whatever he needs to be. and just..the way he always quietly led them and his smarts and how he got to be someone and how he still tries to throw that away and how clear it is he doesnt care for himself the way he does others and how that reflects in future leo concepts and how much I know he would care for this younger versions of himself and. and how bright he is, how annoying yet loveable and so, so interesting he is. this was so scrambled but idc i love him so much. if you want more of my coherent leo thoughts point a thing out this was summary and i DO have SO many thoughts on the prison dimension as a whole (four poems actually), casey and leos relationship (a whole post and then a much larger section in a doc), the peepaw and leo (again A WHOLE DOC for peepaw concepts), and general analysis on the boy (yet again a whole doc). also sorry if this was a bit much lmao he means a lot 2 me

I think it’s interesting that most peepaw leo fics have the eponymous peepaw’s dynamic with past leo be some flavor of “I hate my past self cuz self loathing projection” or “I’ve learned to accept myself and my past mistakes, but god damn my younger self is annoying” (not all of them obviously but you cannot deny its the most common) because I feel like dynamics where f!leo actually likes his past self, not just tolerates or accepts but actually LIKES, have a lot of different potentials for conflicts and character interaction. So have some other theoretical peepaw feeling categories that I haven’t yet seen (but if someone HAS done em let me know cuz I would LOVE to see them)

“Regardless of my own self loathing I don’t hate my past self at all and actually really care abt being kind to him, but it becomes an overcorrection and I come across as condescending or coddling, which is not appreciated by a dude who is trying to take his leadership duties more seriously and feels snubbed now”

“I like my past self MORE than I like myself and defer to him cuz obviously he’s the better version for accomplishing my mission, but this puts an undue pressure on his shoulders and I need to learn to respect myself and my trust my own judgement again.”

“I like my past self and my past self likes me but we feed into each other in unhealthy ways and bring out our worst traits, exacerbated by the recent trauma we’ve been through.”

I can’t unsee multiple peepaw leos low key dissing the other’s kids like that one bit (I don’t remember where from I think I heard it from a TikTok) where the grandmas are one-upping each other like

But in reality the peepaws would be so proud of each other’s kids (and still throw sly comments about the other peepaws)

DMD: I want to believe that one of the teens lost a bet and had to wear the bee costume as the punishment and F!Leo went along with it giving them flowers and sugar water to keep them alive

Reunion: F!Leo brought the costume as a joke and forced Lil Leon to wear it just for a few laughs. He got in trouble with Splinter when the costume wouldn’t come off and he had to go home after cutting Lil Leon out of it hehe

LCD: He was patrolling the Hidden City one evening when he saw the teens all wearing bumblebee costumes as a group on Halloween or for some event in the Hidden City. He definitely shot an arrow note for the teens that said “Looks great” and immediately regretted it when the buzzy crew ran around searching for him

WDS: He willingly wore group bee costumes with the Hamatos for Halloween and he was forced to wear the Queen Bee costume hahaha! He had a lot of fun making bee jokes but also doted on his little bee subjects :)

Bonus:

(A)PAF: F!Leonardo cried like the sappiest, proudest, loving single father when CJ brought Lil Lou in wearing the bee costume. He took many pictures, fed her so many snacks just to keep her still, and showed her off like the proud papa he is.
