I had to know your opinion on this. This could be for the main 6 or courtiers or both but how do you think they would react if they had a partner who was dangerously smart but also gets bored of predictability. What do you think they would do to keep them entertained day to day or in the bed?

Ooooh, this is interesting... batter up! *I step up to the plate, bat in hand. The bat gets upset about the way I'm holding it, squeaks at me, and flies away*

...or not. Well, anyway - I think this is a pretty niche concept, in a good way! I like the sort of characters that you're on about - the 'Sherlock Holmes' types, right? Let's see...

Asra: Asra gets to cheat a little bit on this one because of his magic - I imagine it's endlessly fascinating to see just what he can do with it (in bed or otherwise... ;) ) On top of that, Asra is a very mysterious person in general, and so I think he'd be one of the best fits for someone like this, since they'd always be trying to figure him out. And he's not dumb at all, either, so he'd probably try to keep a step ahead of them as best he could :P

Nadia: For Nadia, it would likely come down to games of skill. Chess is the one that comes to mind, but really any game like that. I imagine she'd be pretty competitive about it, and determined to win once she realised that her opponent would not be so easily beaten. In turn, this would likely make her partner feel endeared to her, which would make it all the more surprising when she whips out the more... dominant gear during their downtime. Doesn't matter how smart you are if you're gagged and bound, or so Nadia says :)

Portia: This is a tough one. Ultimately, I feel like Pasha might struggle to keep someone like this engaged, but her own endless curiously could provide highly entertaining to them as they attempt to teach her what they know, and in return, she teaches them all the little secrets, tricks, and shortcuts in Vesuvia :)

Julian: Mmmm.. not sure about this one. Jules is (very) smart academically, but can be pretty socially/situationally dense sometimes. His relationship with the person would likely revolve around intellectual debate staked on raunchy dares, which both parties would likely enjoy greatly. It does rely on the person in question being able to match (or at least bear) Julian's sex drive, though... it might also not be a good fit, since I'm not actually sure how much Julian would like being 'intellectually upstaged' - I genuinely have no idea. Everyone reading, drop your thoughts in the comments!

Lucio: Hah. Hmm. Hah. I don't know about this one. I can only see this going poorly - Lucio would be constantly mad that his partner is so much smarter than him, and his behaviour would either lead to A) various fights, spelling the end of the relationship, or B) Lucio becoming hellbent on 'making damn sure they know I'm smart, because I am! Aren't I?' And attempting to outdo them constantly, which might just be bonkers enough to keep the person engaged with constantly making up new puzzles and riddles for Lucio to solve, and amused at his failures (and happy at his successes!).

Muriel: There would be an odd standoff here; I think Muriel wouldn't really care about how smart the person is, and it might make him feel a bit insecure if they get bored that easily. Sorry, bur I'm not sure this ones a viable match :/ Just can't quite see it working out. Only thing I can think of is maybe the person is intrigued enough about Muriel and his silent persona that they dedicate themselves to getting him to slowly open up about everything, which to them, might just be the most valuable knowledge of all. :)

This is all just speculation, so if anyone else has any opinions/thoughts/cool ideas about this prompt, I'd love to hear them! Thanks for the ask, anon ❤

It all seems like it might have been a dream.

That’s what you tell yourself, when you recall the last Midsummer Masquerade - that it was a fever dream, brought on by the haze of high summer, the heat of those long, lazy nights that somehow still manage to quicken the blood. And yet, you know it wasn’t simply a dream, and as spring slips on its finery, as the days lengthen and lend urgency to the steadily-shortening twilight hours, you wonder: will we dream again?

And then, the invitation arrives.

Welcome, one and all, to the Vesuvia Midsummer Masquerade.

It was a wild ride, wasn’t it? And it shall be again! (And if you’re unfamiliar with the Midsummer Masquerade, the 2021 event can be handily found at @midsummermasquerade-archive.)

The Midsummer Masquerade is a passion project run by @vissentasenadz, in which they wish to bring to life the notion that the Palace of Vesuvia likely holds many parties, and some are for a decidedly... mature crowd.

This means that no minors are allowed. Absolutely none. 

The concept is quite simple: As the month of June winds down, in the week that coincides with the solstice (June 19-25), we post art and fics and whatever else we might create to celebrate the saucier side of the Arcana fandom. (Yes, late June is technically Midwinter in Arcanaverse canon. But the devs can’t even keep it straight for seasonal releases, so we’re playing just as fast and loose.) There will be a collection of prompts each day to pick and choose from (and perhaps even combine, if you’re feeling adventurous), all with the overall theme of what’s been affectionately termed “The Summer Kinktober Speedrun” by your dear mod. And in the lead-up to the event week itself, there will be some prompts (including the very popular outfit prompt) to get everyone properly warmed up.

As with last year, we’ll be using the hashtag #VesuviaAfterDark to help with tracking posts, and kindly ask that you tag the blog as well.

Do be sure to clear your calendar. The Midsummer Masquerade would love to see what you’ll bring to the party.

Hey I just want to make a quick recommendation for the dating sim The Arcana (a mystery romance) bc it’s so great. There’s so much variety, great representation, the art is lovely, plot is so engaging and it’s all wonderful. It’s a dating sim where you can choose your pronouns (he/him, she/her, they/them) and unlike most dating sims they don’t have illustrations/CGs that feature the player character so there’s no disconnect. It’s the only fandom I’ve ever been in that is built on OCs and self inserts bc the main character is different for everyone and everyone supports letting people have fun with their characters. There’s magic/supernatural/mystery/adventure mixed in with the romance, the game is free and paid content doesn’t affect game endings (you just get a bit saucier in paid content- but coins are super easy to get in game. I haven’t paid a cent of real money).

There’s love interests of many genders and of different skin tones and appearances and you can date any of them regardless of your characters gender. Of the six main love interests two are women, one a woman of color, and three are men, one man of color, and one non-binary character (uses he/him or they/their) who is a person of color. There are also non-binary side characters, background mlm/wlw relationships depending on the route. And one of the big bads of the current routes is an asshole rich white guy. So. It’s good shit.

They’ve recently (today) added a romance tales feature that gives you an opportunity to have a date with non-LI characters so even more representation will be coming to the date options in the future.

she was sitting on him - straddling him, really - legs bent at the knee so her ankles could hook back over his thighs. her voice was low, teasing, but with an edge of... knowing. far too knowing, she was; too quick to find his sore spots and dig in.

not that he was complaining.

“yes,” he breathed back to her, hot breath skimming along the empty space between neck and collarbone. her shirt’s collar had been pushed open, past her shoulders, hanging halfway down her torso. the fabric was soft, worn, inviting; a cool barrier between him and her warm, warm skin. he kissed down in that hollow for what felt like the thousandth time, her skin accepting the bruising without immediately disappearing like his did. what a pretty picture they made, the roses he painted for her. 

“perhaps you’d like to try it out,” she replied sharply, her hand suddenly closing around his throat. his appreciative, affirmative noise was cut short but the pressure she exerted for just a moment before easing off again.

“i can demonstrate it for you, free of charge.”

it was all he could do to wrap his arms tighter around her back, bare hands pressing under thin linen to her radiant warmth.

“on the house,” her voice had been gradually descending in tone, getting softer and softer as she leaned into him. he buried her face into that hollow he’d been kissing earlier, feeling her fingers close back around his windpipe in response. her digits weren’t long like his, or elegant like asra’s, but they were firm, strong. authoritative.

“yes, god, yes.” but the words were lost, muffled against her skin, expressing their meaning only through their fervor and how his hands gripped harder at her waist.

he’d let those fingers do whatever they wanted, and he’d thank her for it at every turn.

Are you taking requests with the courtiers? If yes how would they react if Apprentice had a bet with Portia that she will flirt with every one of the courtiers? Amd their reactions? (I would die to see that)

Alright I didn't 100% understand whether you meant Portia dared Female!MC or if mc dared portia, I'm just gonna give the courtiers' reactions to a neutral mc lol

The courtiers, if flirted with:

Vulgora: Would initially whirl around upon being spoken to with a baring of teeth (bad mood today?), but as they listen their expression would slowly change from one of irritation to deep puzzlement. They assume you're talking about wanting to fight them, because what else could you mean..? They are therefore delighted, and 'flirts' back ("I'll break your skull!~"), to your increasing unease..

Volta: What did you expect except a blushy, flustered mess? Unlike Julian, Volta's style of 'flustered and blushy' cannot be hidden behind a front of dashing bravado, so she just squeaks and hides behind her hands instead, until you offer her a romantic gift of half a cupcake (you ate the other half on the way here... what? You were hungry..), which she scarfs down and is then more forward, inviting you on a dinner date (or a picnic date, or a bakery date...)

Vlastomir: "...you leave my worms out of this. ALL of them. --!! Yes, that one too! ESPECIALLY that one! Now begone! You're making Squiggly nervous." (He's wormsexual and doesn't care for your advances particularly, although he does seem to come over all funny... you've never seen the worm he calls 'Squiggly before, though...)

Valerius: Has maybe the most normal reaction of the lot - he initially acts his regular amount of cocky and uninterested, but as you turn up the heat a little you can see a little crack in his veneer. He blames the light flush across his cheeks on the wine he's drinking, but certainly doesn't say no when you suggest sharing a little more of that wine in private..

Valdemar: " 😐 " "🤨 " "............" "😈"

(You quickly realise that leading with "Hey~ heard you were looking for a new test subject..?~~" was a horrible idea and think that, in retrospect, staying about 1000 miles away from the topic of test subjects still might not have been enough to deter them from attempting to vivisect you as you run at top speed the fuck away from them)

Reasons Not To Like Lucio:

- He a petty bitch who was set on murdering his own parents to show them how cool he was??

- He made a deal with the devil and that is a Stupid Ass thing to do

- Narcissistic Asshole

- He’s prettier than you. It’s ok to admit you’re jealous. I am too.

- Did some Very Bad things and they should definitely not be excused just because he’s pretty.

Reasons To Like Lucio:

- He’s pretty

- He’s actually a big scared baby under all that assholeishness (probably). He didn’t really grow up right

- Just wants to be loved and simply hasn’t figured out that you can’t force people to love you. Take pity on the poor idiot, he’s doin his best

- Likes animals, so he can’t be all bad. Treats his doggos good

- REALLY pretty. Like wow.

- Probably has some redeeming qualities that we don’t know about yet (stay tuned)
