Hi Nara! To celebrate your new fic, I humbly submit Harry/Nicodemus to you for the ship bingo. (And Simms/Eileen if you feel like doing two!)
Thank you <3
Aaah, it takes a special kindness to ask me about a ship that you don't interact with. Thank you, friend <3
Harry/Nicodemus, my darlings
Tumblr media
my friends are tired of me screaming about this. Yes, very tired, probably. I'm sorry. I don't intend to stop tho ^^"
I'm going to hit them with a crowbar. Gently. I mean neither will break. So I'm going to gently bonk them until they talk to each other properly and kiss lol
train wreck but I can't look away. They have a counter of how many attempts they made on each other's lives.
I want to write fics for this and luckily I doooo write fics for this <3
THAT one scene. you know the one. In the sense that I'm always making these posts where I go "You know THAT one scene where they do THAT thing that makes me CRAZY"
INTERESTING COMPELLING COMPLEX SCREECHING
this has no right to be a rare pair. I mean. I get it. On the other hand if Harry/Marcone became so popular, Harry/Nic wouldn't be a stretch, you know? :P
I need a 200k slow burn NOW. No energy to write it tho lol
person a deserves better than person b. Harry does deserve someone better than Nicodemus. But when I write them Nic always treats him right
they are divorced, possibly not for the first time. I'm re-listening to Skin Game and they bicker like a divorced couple. "Who needs no introduction." Right, cause you guys know each other better than you have any reason to, kiss already
could cut the tension with a KNIFE. Seriously. We had an actual knife involved at one point. Pinning up against walls. Choking. Hair pulling. It's great.
Overall, I just love their dynamic and the potential in this ship <3
Simms/Eileen
Tumblr media
pleasantly surprised by being canon. Come on, Luke practically confirmed this will become canon. That is so cool!
I'm a casual shipper. I like them. Wrote a fic. Don't think I wrote it for the right reasons tho, and prob wouldn't write another. But I would 100% read more fic and like them overall.
THAT one scene. you know the one. When Fetch introduces them and Simms just looooks at Eileen for a little too long. Hope we'll get more iconic scenes with them in the next book.
unironically relationship goals. I think they would be good for each other, you know?
Thanks so much for playing! xx

I miss deviantArt some day. Truly, I do. I used to be able to post art, post ideas, share stories, characters and really connect with people. It was easy to see their art, characters, stories, and leave comments that would spiral out of control into big discussions that would last weeks.
So, this is my attempt to restore what I loved about deviantArt in my Tumblr. I’ll probably add links, snippets and resources about the stuff I’ve learned about stories, characters, world building & game design later. I’ll leave this opening post as this: I love creating, I love my characters, I love the challenges that comes with it all. I’m happy to share my thoughts and happier to share my knowledge to help others.
I love fantasy, I love strategy RPGs, I love detective fiction, I love spy fiction and thrillers. I want to create more and I want to help others create more too.

Your Favourite Book: the Game
Sometimes a good book leaves us with a hankering to spend more time in that world. Fanfiction only goes so far- here are ten titles that allow you to adventure with friends in the world of your favourite book!
Angel Mage by Garth Nix
This one doesn't have its own dedicated system, but the author himself ran a game in this world using the $6 rpg Flashing Blades! Given the book was inspired by The Three Musketeers, this makes perfect sense- although you'd need to modify the game a bit to include angel summoning.
Discworld Roleplaying Game by Phil Masters, Terry Pratchett and Steve Jackson Games
Cost: $20.00
I can imagine an entire campaign revolving around the Unseen University, or a one-shot about the antics of the Watch. This game runs on the popular GURPS system which, like many other games, uses only six-sided dice. You've probably got a bunch of those lying around at home already!
Dresden Files Accelerated by Evil Hat
Cost: $17.50
This game uses the lightweight Fate: Accelerated system, making it very easy to learn. Character creation is incredibly flexible- if you can think of a character or archetype within this setting, you can play it in this game.
Good Society: a Jane Austen rpg by Storybrewers Roleplaying
Cost: $23
Regency roleplaying at its finest. Long, longing glances, heartfelt letters and scandal! Also a good choice for fans of the Bridgerton series.
Rivers of London: The Roleplaying Game by Chaosium
Cost: $29.99
This game is pricier than some on this list, but at 400 pages it's well worth the cost. With just the one rulebook, and several free adventures (including at least one solo adventure!), after that initial investment it's very easy to get in there and get sleuthing.
The game uses the Basic Role-Playing system. If you're familiar with Call of Cthulhu or RuneQuest, you're well on your way to learning the rules!
Stormlight Archive RPG by Brotherwise Games
This game hasn't been released yet, but you can sign up here for a chance to be involved in beta testing!
The Kyme Summit by Malcolm Harbrow
Cost: $5
Change the particulars and you have yourself a perfect little Dune LARP you can complete in a single evening.
The Warren by Bully Pulpit Games
Cost: $12
Suitable for a single session or a multiple session adventure, this game lets you play out the survival horror that is Watership Down (from which I have never fully recovered.)
The Witcher: Pen and Paper RPG by R. Talsorian Games
Cost: $24.99
Be a witcher, bard, mage, or even a doctor! This game does a pretty good job of evoking the feel of the books (and the Netflix series too), but I've only read a free demo myself.
Thirsty Space Necromancers by Grahame (Understory Games)
Cost: None!
This supplement for Thirsty Sword Lesbians allows for narrative-focused adventures in the universe of The Locked Tomb. There are playbooks for necromancers of each of the nine houses, as well as a cavalier playbook.
If you don't already own the base game, you can pick up Thirsty Sword Lesbians here for $15 or nab a community copy for free!

I have this idea for an Index fanfic. It's the idea that Index and Ivy(Dresden files) should meet. Their premises as characters are really similar so I think they should talk.

whenever I see overly complicated fan theories based on the origin of specific things or specific phrasing that pops up once or twice I think of Alex Hirsch talking about tad Strange
youtube
because Alex is wrong!! he did help Shape Tad he said in an AMA as Bill the "tad is a total square and that is an objectively stupid shape" you can see why I don't trust those Alex bless his heart completely forgot he said that so idk theories based on statements even those in the text always make me think that it might just be a coincidence so idk just don't take things super seriously

So I recently got into A Certain Magical Index and I have this best idea that Index(ACMI) and Ivy/the Archive (Dresden files) should interact. This is because they are very similar characters at their base even if their overall massive differences push them in different directions. Both of their things is that they have had massive amounts of magical knowledge forced into them.

Concept: Murphy and Kincaid - perhaps also Ivy? The kid deserves more moments like this! -  at a carnival for some reason or other even if it’s to chase/stake out some sort of spook, or something diplomatic they are passing time for if Ivy is also there.
Who of them would win this particular kind of stall game if they played it?
Tumblr media
I amuse myself with the idea that Kincaid who is exceptionally good with wildly varying proper guns, would not be as good with these pellet kinds.

what we can have
I want to say ‘this is a weird one’ but let’s face it: when have I ever written something that’s not?
That said… this is: a) a crossover b) wizardbaron
Fandom: The Dresden Files - Jim Butcher, The Fetch Phillips Archives Series - Luke Arnold Rating: Teen And Up Audiences Relationships: Harry Dresden/Johnny Marcone, Thurston Niles/Fetch Phillips Tags: Crossover, Alternate Universe - Canon Divergence, Dimension Travel, POV Alternating, POV First Person, POV Third Person, Marcone POV, Fetch POV, in terms of the Dresden Files it's set after Fool Moon, in the FPA universe after OFITF, pining Wizardbaron, established Philes, because I said so, somehow Philes ended up being the emotionally more mature couple in this which is hilarious, Unresolved Sexual Tension, Fae & Fairies, Niles & Marcone bromance, Fluff
Summary:
John Marcone has a bad start of his day when he manages to get his favorite wizard to help him, only for them to be transported to a different city. Fetch Phillips also faces trouble when a self-proclaimed wizard and a trigger-happy mafia boss enter his café unexpectedly.
The story of four men grappling with the unpredictable nature of magic and their impractical crushes.
Read on AO3
To answer a few questions you might have in advance:
Can I read this if I haven’t read the Dresden Files?
Yes, totally! There are a few minor spoilers from book 1 & 2 but nothing big. If you are familiar with the general premise of the Dresden Files, you should be fine.
Can I read this if I haven’t read the Fetch Phillips Archives?
Technically, yes, but from the FPA perspective, this takes place after the third book, and there are some pretty significant spoilers alluded to. If you have no intention of reading the FPA or don’t care about the spoilers, you should be fine. However, I think if you like the Dresden Files, you should really give the Fetch Phillips Archives a go, and maybe save this fic after you read the first three books ;)
Nara you never seemed like a huge Wizardbaron fan, how come you wrote this ship? Can we expect more Harry x Marcone fics in the future?
GODS I HOPE NOT
I’m sorry for being so antagonistic about this. I have a real love/hate relationship with Marcone and this ship.
I get everything I ever wanted from enjoying Harry/Nic and Fetch/Niles. The reason why this fic ended up being Harry/Marcone is because they are much closer in vibe to Fetch/Niles, and I thought Marcone and Niles would get along pretty well. These ships and characters mirrored each other nicely so Marcone fit my idea better.
If I could have gotten away with making this Harry/Nic I would have, believe me.
I will always respect Wizardbaron enjoyers as the backbone of the DF fandom. And I also liked the idea of writing something that they could realistically enjoy without having to descend into the rarepair hell with me lol
I have no intention of writing more wizardbaron tho, sorry. Although as all fanfic writers know we have limited control of what we end up writing, am I right?
Also I re-listened to Even Hand while editing, and I highly recommend the audiobook version of that if you’re far enough into the DF series. It’s narrated by Mr. Author himself (btw I don’t know why I always call him that but you know, I think I’d better stick to Fae rules and don’t call him by his name on a fanfic lmao) and he clearly had so much fun with it. Certain implications for future theories aside it’s also one of the good parts with Marcone.
Anyway, if you read all that ramble i love you hope you enjoy the fic <3

5 & 18 for AO3 wrapped asks, please!
Huzzah, a surprise next-day addition 🤩
5. What work of yours got more feedback than you expected?
I had a few where I was pleasantly surprised by a bigger reception than I expected! The response to Promising sticks out as one of 'em, cause it was just a lil 1K, utterly self-indulgent soft smut fic. But apparently I am not the only stormlight fan who thinks that A) Navani deserves lots of excellent orgasms and B) Dalinar absolutely Goes Down 😆😏
18. The character that gave you the most trouble writing this year?
Harry fucking Dresden 🤣 writing him is already a bit of a challenge purely due to tryna match the canon 1st person POV. And then add to that the repression* and the mental gymnastics and Jibbers Crabst getting that fictional man to calm down and get laid once in awhile is a chore and a half.
Well worth the trouble though, because I've been having so much fun fucking with him via his own Issues in the Blasted Sidhe series 😂
(*seriously, this guy canonically doesn't like to jerk off. It took three installments before he let me make him use the word cock in his own internal monologue, and most of the series thus far before he'd even think about his asshole in more detailed terms than "my, y'know, ...there")
Tumblr media
(AO3 wrapped writers ask game! I've done: 3, 5, 6, 9, 10, 11, 15, 18, 20, 28, 29, 30; about to do 1 & 19; and happy to do more should I receive them 😛)
