I’ve been on a big post-punk / new wave kick, I know you’ve been doing your big iTunes project - any underappreciated or cool post punk albums you’d recommend?
hmm, outside of the obvious (Cyndi Lauper, Elvis Costello, Pere Ubu, Public Image Ltd., The Pop Group, Talking Heads, This Heat, Wire) maybe these?:
Alternative TV- Vibing up The Senile Man (Part One)
Doc Corbin Dart- Patricia
The Ex- Starters Alternators
The Mekons- I ❤ Mekons
Men at Work- Business As Usual (very underrated by people who only know them from "Down Under")
Swell Maps- …In "Jane From Occupied Europe"
I also have heard a lot of people call The Beatnigs' self-titled album post-punk (along with industrial / experimental hip hop) and while i'm not 100% in agreement, it's fucking excellent and should be way wider heard.

R.A.P. Ferreira (and The Jefferson Park Boys) – Purple Moonlight Pages (2020), So far my favorite hiphop release of this year. Amazing live prod and bars that make u sit and ponder for quite some time. Great release so check it out and support Rory.
The Beatnigs – s/t (1988), YO this shit is so fucking fly if you’re into the kinda industrial hiphop punk sound that’s growing more popular with acts such as clipping. JPEGMAFIA and so on. Great spoken poetry style raps over punk industrial beats. Not as harsh noise inspired as clipping. per say but still really hard and groovy. If u’re a fan of either of those acts you’re going to have a field day with this record.
Freestyle Fellowship – Innercity Griots (1993), This is the pinnacle of underground hiphop. Hardcore bom bap beats with a lot of free jazz samples and noisy drums. Some of the bars can be kinda corny especially on cornbread or hot potato, but overall this should be considered a classic in my opinion. It has aged so well and a lot of the tracks are still absolute bangers. Most of the bars are amazing as well. For fans of ATCQ who want more oomf to their hiphop this is the record
King Crimson – Lizard (1970), This is the band’s third record and it’s kind of like a joke at times? Robert Fripp, bandleader and lead guitarist called this album unlistenable, and at points you can understand why. It’s a very chaotic record. HOWEVER what drew me into it and kept me listening was the beautiful production, especially on the horns, as well as a lot of the rhythms and melodies. It’s worth listening just for the saxes on Cirkus (includning Entry of the Chameleons). If you’re big on acts like Pharoah Sanders and Frank Zappa... or other King Crimson check this one out! It’s good.
