#the emerald entrails friend group is so!!!!! good!!!!!!!!!

I've become so torn on the emerald entrails messaging at the end of ASIAS. Because on one hand Darius gifting Hunter a scroll so he can make friends is a wonderful moment, giving Hunter a means to contact people outside the castle and the Covens, with the people he's just connected with and had fun playing a sport with! And Darius just gave it to him and expects nothing in return! It's a wonderful moment between them!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But the time it would have made perfect sense for it to pay off in Labyrinth Runners, there's nothing? The next time Hunter interacts with the emerald entrails, they all behave as if this is the first they've spoken since ASIAS. Insisting they save Hunter from the coven scouts could be easily explained as them having no hard feelings for the whole forced recruitment thing after Hunter jumped in to save them, not that they necessarily talked it through afterwards via messaging.
Tumblr media
None of them speaks up for Hunter when the whole room is doubting him and treating him like the enemy. Which is a reasonable reaction if they haven't spoken since the last time they met, when he was still the Golden Guard and singing the Emperor's Coven's praises. But it comes off as weird if we're meant to assume they've chatted between Any Sport in a Storm and Labyrinth Runners.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Also absolutely love how between these lines Hunter says "there was a sandwich". Both shows how frazzled he is right now and what a dork he truly is. A good sandwich indeed)
And even if you try to say 'well maybe Willow is the only one he talked to', Willow only decides to step in once she hears Hunter mention the breathing technique she taught Gus, meaning she didn't trust him or believe his words until that moment. At least not enough to defend him. Even though we see her getting a message from Hunter on penstragram at the very end of ASIAS and the group playfully poke fun at his slow typing, and Luz says Willow is the one who gave her Hunter's contact info in Reaching Out. (Though this is a really cute moment for Gus and Willow's friendship, Willow trusts his judgement even if Gus himself doesn't.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But in the end, if I had to choose between leaving it as is with the implications left hanging, or just cutting Hunter recieving a scroll entirely, I'd pick what we got every time, no hesitation. Giving Hunter a scroll is such an important point for the development of the relationship between him and Darius. For an abused kid like Hunter, who is completely isolated from people his age, giving him a means of communication Belos is unaware of is one of the best things he could have recieved. Darius giving Hunter a scroll is so important for both their characters!! And the story!! For the themes present in Hunter's whole arc!!
And it gave us this precious image of a sleeby Flapjack

You totally got it right about the group chat 😂
Referring to this post! Small writing dabble incoming!
"Hunter, I don't think that was meant for the group chat."
Brown eyes moved from his scroll, seeing Gus covering his mouth with crescent shaped eyes and an obvious smile behind his fingers. The light of his friend's scroll and the high risen sun from the window were the only things that lit his face up, but Hunter still had to squint to see him since seeing in the dark wasn't part of his many talents; the absolute beam that was Gus' expression could be noticed from a mile away.
"What are you talking about?" Hunter asked, using the base of his palm to rub against his bare forehead, hair being pushed back by a borrowed green headband.
Gus turned his scroll around for Hunter to see exactly what he was looking at, which happened to be the Emerald Entrails group chat. The latest message was from Hunter, but that couldn't be possible. The conversation was previously about the girls' hang out; meet up plans from Viney and Willow with the rouge "here! (:" from Skara. After that, the conversation died into nothing.
Or, it was supposed to be nothing. Hunter's message, one that he so confidently sent to Willow privately, was plastered in the group chat for the whole team to see.
RULEZREACHF4N: g ood afte rnoon. captian,, miss yoiu,, <3 !
Gus gave him no time react. He turned his phone back around and typed out a message so fast that it made Hunter's eyes shake. A light ping was heard from his hands, causing him to look down towards his scroll to see that he was, in fact, inside the group chat.
mic_dropgus: miss u too bro <3
stara.skara: awe! miss u 2 hunny!! <3
Puddles.n.Viney: We should hang out soon, Hunter! <3
Hunter felt his face explode in flames. Gus couldn't swallow his laugh anymore, letting it out loud enough to disturb the neighbors. Hunter threw his scroll to the side and lunged for him, a battle cry filling the room and interrupting Gus' tickled pink moment.
"Dude, wait!" Gus tried to escape him by jumping off the couch, nearly tripping over the coffee table but managing to get around it. They danced around the table for a moment, Gus going left while Hunter went right. Gus raised his hands, "Come on, we're just teasing! You're getting better at texting!"
That didn't help the situation. Hunter jumped over the piece of furniture, making Gus squawk out in surprise. The blond grabbed Gus' arm and tried to reach for his scroll from behind, which caused Gus to bend over and type out another message with one hand as laughter erupted from him once more.
mic_dropgus: HUNTER ATJTAKCING ME HELP WILL O W
As Hunter managed to tackle Gus to the ground, shoving the scroll far away from his grasp and threatening to make him eat the lint underneath the refrigerator, he did not notice his own scroll lighting up with a private message.
Hello_willow: good afternoon, miss you too! <3
Hello_willow: please try not to hurt Gus too bad.

oh willows 100% gonna be next years grom queen. the emerald entrails + luz n amity + maybe her dads (chaperoning) make a lil cheer for her on the gym bleachers. and who is leading the cheer, green shoes to green hair dye? her bf :). hunter takes his boyfriendly duties v seriously
My absolute favourite headcanon ever is that next year it's gonna be Grom King Gus. But Grom Queen Willow is also Such A Concept to think about.
Like fucking imagine. Judging from how enthusiastic she was last year, Willow loves grom. And last year her confidence was only beginning to improve, so imagine how pumped she's gonna be this time around. She's become her best self! She's super popular, she's one of the school's star athletes, she's got a group of best friends, she's even got a boyfriend. Last year's grom was already so fun so this year can only be a million times better!!
I like to think that while she is dating Hunter, it's very recent development so they're both still getting adjusted to the whole thing. There's a good bit of shyness but lots of sincerity too. With this being the case, Willow still felt the need to formally ask him. (With at least a little legitimate anxiety that he'd say no. Girl?? That's your boyfriend??) Anyway after one adorable little flower themed gromposal later, Hunter said yes and everything was going fantastic!!
Her dress from last year has gotten kinda tight so her dads bought her a brand new one and she adores it!! She really liked her other dress but she certainly looks and feels much older now and this new one reflects that. Love the idea that Willow's always been pretty "meh" about her appearance but ever since she started dyeing/braiding her hair and wearing the gold glasses she's been like "Hold on. I'm pretty..." and when she tries on her new dress for the first time, she gets so excited!! She's pretty!!! She's going to grom with her boyfriend and she's gonna look so pretty!!!
So things are going great. Willow is genuinely so happy with everything and buzzing with anticipation that this night is gonna be fun and silly and magical. Until this year's grom royalty is announced. And it's her.
Her smile slips momentarily, as the hallway goes silent, only for it to pluck back up as she publicly expresses her gratitude for being chosen. Of course it's her. She knows she's strong, she knows she's powerful, she knows that she's got a good chance of coming out of this victorious. And now that she thinks about it, yeah, she wants to do this. She'd like to keep Grometheus at bay for tonight as much as anybody. She wants everybody else to have a fun grom. And if you want a job done right, you better do it yourself.
Her friends would stand a fighting chance but Willow doesn't want a single one of them getting involved. Luz and Amity already went through it once. Gus adores his MC gig far too much to give it up. And Hunter...Hunter shouldn't be put in harm's way again for as long as he lives. That leaves Willow.
So it's fine :) She'll handle this pesky monster for everyone else's sake :) Not the grom she was expecting but probably the grom she's supposed to have, given who she is :)
She might have been looking forward to a chill fun night but it's fine :)
If Willow is disappointed or nervous in any way, she doesn't let it show. But Gus picks up on it. As does Hunter. They both offer to take her place but Willow forbids it. ("You will let me handle this one on my own. Understood?") She makes them promise. So neither intervene when the time finally comes.
All of Willow's excitement for grom fizzles out in favour of restless anxiety. She's pretty sure she's got this but any witch in their right mind fears Grometheus at least a little and Willow is no exception.
Willow still dolls herself up for the evening. She's hoping that maybe, once she gets this out of the way, the rest of the night will still be her ideal grom. She throws on the new dress that she's in love with. Amity comes over to do her hair into an elaborate braided up-do, interwoven flowers and all. But when she looks in the mirror and sees a beautiful girl staring back at her, she can't even summon that bubbling giddiness. Damn this stupid monster for her constant stomach churning pit of dread.
But once she's in that arena, glowing spell bangles at her wrists and the Fear Bringer itself staring her down, what is there to alleviate her terror? Gus's projected voice, carrying over the crowd as he hypes her up to the sky. Luz, Amity, Viney, Skara, and several others chanting a cheer specially tailored for her. And orchestrating this chant with utterly off-the-walls enthusiasm? Her ridiculous boyfriend, dressed like a string bean. Willow will find the time to laugh about this later. When she's not fighting for her life and everyone else's.
She loves Hunter very much. She loves all of them very much. Which is why she is going to wrap this up as swiftly as she can.
The fight between the Grom Queen and the Fear Bringer rages on, and though Willow is not failing by any means, Grometheus shows no signs of weakening. She accumulates a myriad of cuts, scrapes and bruises and even if she's still standing upright, she doesn't know how much longer she can hold out.
That's when the monster, now in the form of a giant clawed beetle, lunges for her. And though she dodges, unscathed, she stares down in devastation at the jagged tear in the skirt of her beautiful dress.
Enough. She has had enough.
Willow goes fucking ballistic.
"YOU" She thunders, eyes an electric green glow. "ARE RUINING MY GROM NIGHT"
She doesn't want to be here. She wants to be laughing and taking dumb pictures with her friends. She wants to be spinning around in her (now ruined) dress. She wants to be dancing with her boyfriend.
She can't do any of those things as long as this fucking creature stands in her way.
Willow's fear is overwhelmed by a burst of rage and in one final riot of raw power, Grometheus succumbs to defeat, slithering into hiding for another year.
She can't even summon the performance energy to smile as the tiara lands on her head and her classmates rush to congratulate her. She knows it's silly, so she doesn't want to make a big deal about it, but she's quite upset about her dress.
Willow is ushered into the Healing Homeroom and Viney and Emira tend to her injuries. She doesn't speak much as they tell her what an awesome job she did, only offering a smile and nod and an occasional "Hm." She fiddles with one of the many undone locks of hair. Amity's beautiful braided handiwork had come almost completely undone. Flowers remain loosely tangled in the strands that brush her shoulders.
Once the healing spells are complete and Viney and Emira return to the dance floor, Willow opts to stay put for the moment. She barely has a minute alone before he's standing in the doorframe.
Despite how low she feels, she laughs at the sight of him.
Hunter frowns. "You said that you like me in green."
"I'm sorry. I do, yes. I kinda miss your suit from earlier though."
"If it's a suit the Grom Queen wants, it's a suit she'll get."
With a wave of his staff, Hunter's attire is as polished and beautiful as when he showed up at her doorstep this evening.
Willow does a joking little swoon and a round of applause. Blushing slightly, Hunter humors her with a bow before sitting down beside her.
He pulls the decorative handkerchief out of his breastpocket and Willow is puzzled before she feels his rough fingers gently tip up her chin to the light.
Hunter informs her that there is grime from the fight smeared all over her face. He diligently cleans it off.
"Your dress is pretty." He says, after a few seconds of comfortable silence.
This was the second time he had said this tonight. The first time she had said thank you. Now her stomach sinks.
"Was." Willow replies glumly, fingers threading through the torn fabric.
Hunter's eyes narrow to where she's currently fidgeting. He then reaches into yet another pocket and withdraws a little red box. And when he pops off the lid, its contents are needles and threads, expertly organized by colour and size.
"It won't be a perfect mend." Says Hunter, fiddling with his sewing kit. "But it's important to you so...I could give it a shot?"
For the next several minutes, Willow sits patiently as Hunter stitches her dress back together, entertaining her with anecdotes of suit shopping with Darius and brainstorming the "Willow is Awesome" chant with the rest of their friends.
Willow is not the primped up doll that she was a few hours ago. You could certainly tell she had been in battle. Her dress is still a little dirty but the care Hunter took to mend it makes her heart melt. Her elaborately plaited hairstyle is now a sloppy mess but Amity promised earlier that she'd stop by some other time to do it again whenever Willow wanted to look especially cute. (She was thinking on her next date with Hunter.) Plus, she has to admit that the Grom Queen tiara is beautiful.
Not just the tiara. She's still beautiful. Hunter tells her as much and when she looks back at him, she knows he's not just saying it. That boy is incapable of telling her a convincing lie.
This grom has not gone the way Willow hoped it would. But it's not all that bad either. At the very least, she's gonna make the most of the night.
"C'mon." Says Hunter, tentatively linking his fingers through hers. "We gotta get back to the gym before everybody wonders where you are. Pretty sure Luz wants a dance with the Grom Queen."
As the two cross the classroom, Hunter carries on. "Oh and Amity too."
Willow grins.
"Pretty sure Gus expressed an interest in a dance also..."
She nods. "Of course he did. I am in very high demand for dances."
Hunter hums.
"And uhh..." He mutters. "Me too maybe."
For the second time in this stressed induced nightmare of an evening, Hunter manages to make Willow burst into laughter.
"Do I need to remind you that you're my date? You get the honor of being the Grom Queen's first dance."
She means it as a silly little joke and speaks with an ironic air of regality.
But the comedy falls to pieces when Hunter looks back at her, and a bright beam of pure awe splits his pretty face. Pink stains his cheeks and excitement sparks in his irises.
He does consider it an honor. He does think she's beautiful, battle blemished and everything.
She wants to blush until the heat turns her skin to ash. She wants to sweep him off his feet and on to the dance floor right this minute. She wants to kiss him.
He's her grom date. He's her boyfriend. And she loves him.

I write about a character per day
Day 20: Viney (Finale)
Healer. Beastkeeper. Anarchist.
How many things I can say about a character who had her fair share of 2 episodes with 4 more in the background. Oh boy let's go.
Alright getting this out of the way, and the only time I do this because it's Viney. As my favourite character of the show and 2nd favourite of all time (behind a water witch), I want to headcanon so many things for Viney. She's aroace, because everyone is aroace until proven otherwise :P. My favourite ship to Viney is Luney, in a platonic way, that I would like it even more if I didn't know about Lumity too early. She's an engineer in both biology and chemistry. She opens a veterinarian clinic for mythical pets, while also studies medicine and other methods of healing.
Tumblr media
Okay, I gotta admit I like Luney more because of Viney being too awesome and their first interaction were pretty cool. Viney has healing and beastkeeping, two of the most underrated coven of the show. Healing potential looked quite awesome, as she even used a shield made out of the coven sigil. As a diehard fan of Steven Universe, I loved that moment so much.
(yes this is the only writing post I will put images on, screw me)
Tumblr media
Beastkeeping may have destroyed the class and got her in detention, but who cares, Puddles is the coolest friend a veterinarian can have. And it is so nice that she chose Healing with Beastkeeping, specifically to heal all the pets she got.
I'm going on a limb and say this. Viney is the perfect successor of Eda, maybe with less rebellious intent than her last generation. The tunnel she used? Eda used it before. The Troublemakers Wall? Eda is the Queen. Viney looks up to Eda, as the pioneer of anarchism in the school. Baby Anarchist Viney is so incredible and I love it.
Viney's outfit is also torn like Eda, in fact her uniform is actually more unique than any other students. Her shirt pin points out, unlike other students, her shirt was torn in a way no one does that. And of course the hook earring. My baby anarchist is so determined to rebel.
Side note: I can take a whole day just talking about her hook earring.
Tumblr media
The hate between Viney and Jerbo really is incredibly funny tbh. She just decided to hate him. And when Jerbo joined the other time, she just saw all hell broke loose, gave him that death stare in the eyes. That's just awesome lol.
Tumblr media
The First Day is her debut, and also her best episodes (so much injustice for my baby). The idea of using a griffin as an assistance is cool enough, but property damage and multi-track studying got her into trouble. Oh hey, just like Luz heh. One day in and Luz already was in detention with the troublemakers.
Tumblr media
Having to live in the shadow for a while, with not many companies on her side, she developed a lot of skepticism. Which is why she was so mad at Luz when she saw Luz's friend coming, thinking Luz is above the troublemakers, or that interaction with Jerbo. But when Luz was in need for help, she and the students that the school deemed as troublemakers have saved the school, and forced Bump to change the law for multi-track studying. Eda might be the pioneer, but Viney and co are the revolutionists.
Her next appearance is in Hunting Palisman. No comments here, I just want to appreciate this moment. Very mystical manticore for a very mystical girl.
Tumblr media
Any Sport in a Storm is the episode with her iconic "Now I'm only scarred emotionally". Despite having more screen time, she still doesn't have that much more lines, she was outshined by Hunter and Willow. She's now a member of Emerald Entrails, she got along well with the team, and her powers got stronger. Good for her, good for her.
And of course the group selfie.
Tumblr media
Labyrinth Runners is when we see a bit more of her. And Puddles' second battle. Not as successful as the first, but it's precious enough for me.
Tumblr media
The last episode she had a line in was For The Future. Again, very brief moments. Although she got a new drip with the scarf. It's a scarf, alright girl. A moment when my kin (Willow) met my favourite (Viney), it's so incredibly precious.
Tumblr media
Her finale design is so cool. She got long hair, cool outfit, but the hook earring must stay. And she was helping in erasing the sigils.
Tumblr media
Puddles say bye.

I love that Hunter wasn’t saved by just one person and that all the responsability of helping him wasn’t put on just one person. It is common that characters like him are helped by one person or maybe a small group of people, usually the protagonist. We all thought Hunter was going to be adopted by Eda, then Darius, but the truth is he was helped by a lot of people
Obviously Luz was the first to help, and without her I have no idea where Hunter would be right now. She’s the first person who offered him compassion, who offered him a hand, and who helped him see things differently. The first one who actually saw him as a 16 year old boy who can be so much more than what he was at the moment they met. They bonded over not having magic, and Luz was the one with him when he learned he was a grimwalker and that Belos had been lying to him all his life
Then we got Amity, who could have helped more and connected with him over their respective abuse, but Hunter attacked her shortly after she tried to help him. Still, the things she said to him surely resonated with him a lot and I’m sure that helped
Then we’ve got the Emerald Entrails, but especially Willow and Gus, who both had a very important role in Hunter’s life. Willow understood him because they were both considered half-a-witch and had been underappreciated and she’s definitely the closest person to him right now, being the one who feels the most for him and seemingly the one who cares the most. And Gus connected with him during the Labyrinth Runners episode where they both helped each other during their respective anxiety attacks, and now they are good friends and even have a cool high five
There is Darius, who helped Hunter question his place in the Emperor’s Coven and question the things that he’s doing. He pushed Hunter to have a life outside of the coven and to actually make friends, and we know they reunited offscreen too
There’s Bump and Hexside, who accepted him and listened to him and are helping him defeat Belos. They heard what he had to say and gave him a place to stay
Heck even Flapjack helped him a LOT, he had this little palisman who chose him and stayed with him and has been protecting him all this time
So in conclusion, Hunter has found a lot of people who care about him, a lot of people who have helped him get out of his situation and to move forward, and they all helped in different ways but they’ve all been really important in his journey

Dropping all my hunter headcanons because why not
-He definitely experiments a lot with his style. He especially loves human clothing, Luz takes him shopping frequently, he likes wearing skirts too, just really likes the different feel and freedom of them
-He also gets introduced to human tunes and keeps cranking up the volume, he has to be reminded to turn down the volume when listening with earbuds lest he give himself tinnitus aged 17 god bless
-as for who he listens to: everyone. Well i think he actually gets into hard rock/metal, Luz keeps making ‘male maniupulator music’ jokes that he does not understand At All. But then on another day he’ll be singing his heart out to some Twice like this boy contains multitudes
-is camila’s adopted son. Well in legal terms i think he actually gets taken in by both eda and darius. Like he goes to darius at weekends but instead of his parents being divorced its more like they’re the previous generation of theatre gays who still have high school beef but they also saved the world together so its a funny dynamic. Anyway thats just my hc as a dadrius liker but also hunter clawthrone truther. BUT THIS IS AB CAMILA back to camila.
-As i said camila does not Officially take him in, but he does visit her crazy often because he just likes being around her. Being in the human realm post kings tide was a tumultous time for him but the noceda home was where the process of his healing got to finally properly begin so he loves it. And camila was a huge part of that ofc. She thinks he is a lovely young man. Obviously she is also worried about him but she doesn’t have many probing conversations with hunter, like she knows his Deal and past abuse but they spend most their time together baking cookies and shit. He is definitely comfortable breaking down around her though
-Speaking of, cooking/baking is his main hobby he develops post kings tide, it started in the human realm ofc he is camila’s sous chef. But back in the BI he continued and he just. loves it. He reads cookbooks cover to cover like they’re novels and won’t even mark down any recipes he likes because he’s just too engrossed. And then with actual making, he prefers baking bc its very follow-instructions-and-get-correct-result and he has been doing that his whole life, cooking is Scarier bc its more flow and experimentation and artistic but he’s getting to grips with it. He proudly boasts about he’s the only person who can make both human and BI cuisine (Luz not applicable, she can only make instant ramen)
-The emerald entrails are his closest friends and he just loves LOVES hanging out with them all as a team, he loves their group hangouts and how chaotic they get, and ofc they all still play together! He’s also gotten pretty good at flyer derby and he is Not smug about it (he is so smug. But also he deserves it)
-You know how other witches have their palisman tucked away 90% of the time? Yeah not this white boy. Flapjack is just Constantly vibing on his shoulder, save for when he’s out and about in the human realm, bc he could get away with it but it just looks a Bit too unusual to have a bird perfectly content on his shoulder. But mostly Hunter relishes not having to hide Flapjack anymore. It’s huge for him. Sometimes he still feels scared, like Belos is going to come back and rip Flapjack away, but in those moments Flapjack will peck at his ear and remind him that they’re both safe
-(post hair noodle, hunter’s ear is the main Flapjack target)
-him and Amity got over their animosity pretty quickly but that does not deal with the other, greater obstacle: their mutual awkwardness. GOD BLESS THESE TWO IDIOTS THEY WERE TRYINF but they used to be so BAD at conversations. Literally just like ‘hey’ ‘hello’ ‘…’ ‘…’ ‘…nice weather isnt it’ AND SO ON. Luz was greatly entertained and she did nothing to help them. But they figured things out themselves. And once they get past their awkwardness… oh boy, say hello to trauma bonding! Obviously its not the only thing they talk about it but Hunter is comforted by knowing there is someone who really Gets it and vice versa. Sometimes he feels a bit bad going to Amity to vent because he’s like ‘what if she’s having a good day? What if she’s not thinking about the bad things that happened to her and then here I come dredging up everything-‘ but amity tells him it’s Ok. They get through most of their bad days together. And on their good days they almost murder each other over mariokart
-he is okay in the end and lives a good life full of healing and happiness AMEN

Where we last left off, Hunter was doing his best to ruin a good thing. Let’s see the Emerald Entrails’ reaction to this revelation.
Tumblr media
Pictured: The Golden Guard, the Emperor’s right-hand man. Remember when he was first introduced back in episode one of this season? Remember that cool entrance with the water hand? Good times. It's nice to see they got him a new mask at least. Still working on the cape.
Man, Little Rascal is just going with it, huh? He’s really not gonna tell Hunter that maybe this was a bad idea? I thought the thing he bonded with Hunter over was some innate  desire for freedom or something like that but nope, turns out it was their mutual inability to make good decisions.
On the bright side, Willow’s first instinct on finding out Caleb was the Golden Guard wasn’t to immediately strangle him with plant vines, so all hope’s not lost yet. How much exactly did Luz tell them about Hunter? How much did Amity?
Tumblr media
THIS IS NOT HELPING YOUR CASE, HUNTER!
Tumblr media
Okay, so he did not call on the scouts, Darius sent them, but Hunter is still not doing much of anything to help his case. Was the ”take you away from your friends and family” part really necessary, Hunter? You wouldn’t want to be taken away from your family, right?
oh wait-
Tumblr media
Hey, it’s Steve! My sister mentioned him! He’s her favorite character.
She also keeps asking me if I’ve gotten to that episode with the revelation at the end. I thought she meant last episode, but apparently not… so I’m a bit nervous now.
Almost as nervous as Willow, Gus, Viney & Skara have got to be, being in jail. At such a young age too… tragic. What has society come to?
Tumblr media
I just want to quickly bring up something Hunter says here.
Gus says that real friends don’t stab each other in the back, to which Hunter replies that the Head Witches do it all the time. There is of course Raine, but they’re one person who betrayed the others one  time and was subsequently put under mind control. No, he’s saying that the Head Witches betray each other regularly. Obviously not in a ”I’m actually leading a group of rebels to overthrow the Emperor!” sorta way, but in a more personal way.
The reason this is notable to me is because Belos likes to talk about the Day of Unity, about how they’re perfecting the Coven system and all that garbage. He wants to paint a picture of unity under his rul-oh. sorry, the Titan’s rule. Yet those closest to him, the very elite are squabbling and can’t get along with each other. So much for ”unity.”

they work sooo much better as friends! willow's a little feisty and hunter's a little dork and the emerald entrails are all his friend group and he needs that. i've always held an ace willow hc myself but i don't see willow ever being interested in him?? i blocked the hunt/low tag and i just have this feeling people are tagging hun/tlow for things that AREN'T hunt/low.
YES!! Honestly! And same I just can’t see her even being near interested in him. I think it’ll be funny if god forbid they decide to go that route (I don’t think they will) if Willow just flat out denies him or is like “bud I think you’re actually experiencing platonic feelings because no one’s ever been nice to you before”. I love the small section of ppl NOT ignoring the rest of the entrails’ friendships with him too. It’s good content and the sad bastard (affectionate) deserves it. And same. People DEFINITELY are tagging things that aren’t huntlow as huntlow. Or they’re not tagging their huntlow at all or put it as “huntlow?” Like they’re not sure so tumblr doesn’t filter it correctly :/

Even when Amity was forced to cut ties with her & Willow, Naya still tried to be a good friend because according to her parents, she's well-aware of how controlling Odalia is with the Blight siblings. Nonetheless, Naya remained good friends with the twins Edric & Emira and kept being a supportive friend/big sister to Willow & Gus.
When Luz first visited Hexside, Naya was surprised and intrigued that a human managed to travel to the Boiling Isles. But any friend of Willow and Gus is a friend of hers too. She's also grateful that Luz was the one who got the Hexsquad gang back together and brought along new friends like Hunter and Vee into their friend group!
Voiceclaim: Adassa (Dolores Madrigal from Disney's Encanto)
Side Note: still debating on two things!
My original take on Naya was that she's a human & Luz's only best friend prior to ending up in the Boiling Isles bc I didn't want Luz to go through so much trauma on her own w/o a big sister-type figure and plus, I don't think there are enough TOH human OCs out there. Maybe I'll have a Human!Naya AU on the side.
Even tho I'm a Huntlow shipper, I kinda also ship Naya with Hunter but I dunno if I'm gonna make them endgame or not. It'll prolly depend on how the show goes with Huntlow, should it become official in the next specials!
That being said, the ask box is open if there’s anything else you wanna know about Naya or any of my other OCs!

Forgot to post these chapters here, so I'm posting them now. Some Labirynth Runners fun to help cope with post-finale feelings.
This chapters includes the students saving one another and my take on Hunter's rescue in the episode.
Full chapter:
The entire group sneaked out of the storage room, making quite a bit of mess, but nobody cared. After the quick, yet difficult fight against the scouts at the cafeteria, everyone just wanted to get to the healers as soon as possible. They still felt somewhat victorious, but they still knew they were in a difficult position and their injuries started to take a toll on their mood.
Viney was an amazing healer and she patched up the worst injuries of her fellow students, but she was just one person. She couldn't do it all. She managed to convince Puddles to carry Matholomule and Barkus, who were two of the students who had the worst injuries. Everyone else had to walk, the students with palismen deciding to give their companions some rest. They knew they might encounter scouts while in hallways and knew that the palismen would be invaluable in fights. But even palismen could get tired.
Still, the mood was not completely sour yet. They may have been limping, but they were the ones walking away from the fight, while the coven guards were caught in Abomination nets, trapped in the ground, wrapped into vines or just simple knocked out cold, and sealed away in the cafeteria.
Once out of the secret shortcuts, the group moved very quietly. They only had a short distance to cross, but they counted that they might encounter nasty surprises.
“Coven scouts, in the hallway to our right,” Celine, often known as Moon Girl, whispered to the others using her Seeing stone.
Ok, everyone get your invisibility glyphs and be very quiet, Bump wrote in the air using abominations, while the illusions teacher manipulated Gus' illusion so there was only a narrow path through it so that the disturbance in it would not be noticeable to scouts.
The group did as ordered, but, as they quietly passed by the hallway that looked like someone’s living room, the members of Emerald Entrails that were in the group noticed that the scouts were dragging a familiar figure.
Once they passed by the hall safely, everyone took a second to catch their breaths.
“Was that…?” Skara turned to Viney.
“Yes, I think that was Caleb!” Viney confirmed her suspicion.
“Who?” Jerbo asked in a hushed voice.
Willow grabbed Bump’s sleeve. “Sir, they have our friend there!”
“What? I only saw them carrying the Golden Guard. Who is in a very weird disguise for some reason,” Bump retorted.
“Yeah. That is our friend,” Willow said, her eyes full of conviction "He is part of our team."
“And by the way they are dragging him around, I wouldn’t say they are on friendly with him,” Viney added, using another invisibility glyph, and peeking behind the corner. She saw two scouts trying to navigate the illusion and they were manhandling Hunter like a sack of potatoes, as they tried to figure out which part of the "living room" was hiding a passage.
“Also, did you see what he was wearing?” Skara said, “That combination screams that he is in trouble.”
“But why would we help someone who is on the emperor’s side?” Matt asked. “He is the enemy!”
“He is a friend,” Willow repeated, throwing Matholomule a challenging glance. He didn’t say anything back but he and Barkus exchanged a suspicious look.
Jerbo looked at Viney, almost offended, “Seriously? Ok, I get you were angry with me because of the flyer derby thing but replacing me with the emperor’s right-hand man? Really?
“Hey, don’t question my choice of friends, Jerbo!” she pointed an accusatory finger at him, “Caleb, Hunter, whatever his name is, is a good guy!”
“Woof!” Barkus cut in and his friends understood his bark as Yeah right!”
“Oh, don’t you start too!” Viney glared at him, as did Puddles and Barkus promptly shut up, knowing it was not wise to annoy the gryphon, especially as he was currently riding on her back.
“Look, guys,” Skara cut in, “I know what a bad friend looks like,” she said sadly, “And Hunter is not it! I’m with Willow and Viney on this one!”
“But didn’t he, like, try to trick you into joining the coven?” Matt asked, “Gus told me about it!”
“Yeah,” Willow glared at him more, “And if Gus told you that, I’m certain he also mentioned that He realized he was in the wrong and he protected us from the abominations coven head!”
Willow then turned to Bump, “Principal Bump, I know you all have reasons to doubt Hunter’s…side, but I assure you, he is not a bad person. We need to get him to safety!"
The principal considered the idea, but didn't seem particularly keen on it.
“Also, a palisman chose him. One of those the Bat Queen brought here with,” Willow added, “And a palisman, especially one tied with the Bat Queen, wouldn’t choose just any witch, would it?” Clover, who was until that moment resting on Willow’s shoulder, buzzed in agreement, and even Frewin stirred his ears in agreement.
“Yeah, we got to help him!” Viney insisted.
“And if you’re not helping us, the three of us are doing it ourselves!” Skara added, crossing her arms defiantly.
“You would…not be by yourselves,” Amity said. The three girls turned to her, their eyes wide with surprise. “I may not be his biggest fan,” she said, “but I trust Willow. If she trusts him enough to go rescue him…I’m willing to give him a small chance. I’m with you.”
“Ugh, fine, let’s get him!” Bump said, dragging his hand down his face, “before we’re all caught standing in the hallway like sitting gryphons!” Puddles squawked at him, “Sorry, poor choice of a metaphor.”
“Ok, there are only two scouts there,” Willow said.
“Yeah, we should actually be able to do this ourselves!” Viney smirked.
“Um, guys, hate to bring the bad news, again,” Celine clutched her seeing stone once more, “but that is literally my job right now so, um, more scouts incoming!” she pointed down what looked like a forest, but they knew it was actually a hallway that led towards the Healing Homeroom. “Oh my, they have a student with them! Eileen from the Potions track!”
“Great and we’re surrounded now! All because we were standing here trying to save the new friend…”
“Zip it, Jerbo!” Viney warned again.
“Ok, you four,” Bump pointed to the Emerald Entrails trio plus Amity, “Get the Golden Guard while the rest of us will fend off the approaching scouts and get Eileen!”
“Let’s do this!” Willow said to her friends before she, Amity and Viney took invisibility glyphs and held their breaths. Meanwhile, Skara pulled out her flute. It was damaged, but it could still play a simple Bard spell.
The two scouts, who have just figured out which direction they should take, have suddenly frozen in place. The one holding Hunter, who was just passing with him through what appeared as a bookshelf, dropped the boy to the ground. He stopped in a comical position, half of his body seemingly inside a booshelf.
“What the-” the other scout said, looking around the "living room".
“Stupid bard spells,” The first one grunted, “There must be some of those rebellious students around somewhere around here,” he said, trying to work against the force keeping him in place. And, as Skara’s flute was damaged, the spell did not have a full effect, so he managed to move his arms and pull out a pair of earmuffs and removed himself from the bookshelf illusion.
“I still can’t move,” the other scout said, “Get me!”
And just as the first scout reached for his partner’s earmuffs to help them, he was coughed by his foot and dragged away. “Arrrghhh!” he shouted before being completely wrapped into vines and shoved into a locker behind the wall of the living room illusion.
Skara’s spell broke and the other scout has gotten their bearings right as they noticed a wave of abomination goo barrelling towards them. At the last second, they managed to summon a wall in front of them.
Amity let out her breath and, not giving herself time to rest, threw more attacks at the scout who was taken aback by the student who seemed to have materialized out of nowhere. The two started duelling, while Willow and Viney snuck behind to drag Hunter away.
“Got him” Viney said, pulling Hunter up on her staff, “Help Amity!”
“I’m fine,” Amity shot back, as she dodged a fireball the scout threw at her and, even as she felt the flames licking her cheek, slid under his arm and send another wave of abomination goo at them, this time managing to engulf most of their body. “Help the others, I got this one!” she shouted, holding a hand to the injured side of her face, as another scout ran towards her and she summoned her staff to fight.
“Got it!” Willow sent vines down the hallway, wrapping one of the two scouts who were about to grab Skara and Celine. The other dodged her attack and summoned an abomination, which managed to grab Willow by her leg and threw her into what looked like the living room wall, but behind the illusion were the lockers. She slid down, her arm got caught on the teeth of one of the lockers and landed roughly on the ground, her left arm flaring up in pain. “Ugh,” she grunted, trying to get up.
As the scout attacking her drew a circle in the air, she activated one of the invisibility glyphs and rolled away, trying to ignore her throbbing arm. The scout was then quickly swept away by a wave of abomination goo, courtesy of Amity.
Willow let out her breath and used her staff to get up, Amity rushing to her side, “Sorry,” she said, “I know you said you can handle yourself, and I believe you, I really do but-“ she was cut off by Willow raising her uninjured hand.
“Amity, it’s fine, I don’t mind if you got my back when I’m actually in trouble,” she said, hissing as she looked at her injured limb, "And this time I really was in trouble."
“Ok, good,” Amity breathed. “Let’s help the others and get out of here,” she said and the two friends gathered all of their strength, but as they turned they realized that the other students managed to take out the rest of the scouts.
The group didn’t even say a word, at this point almost too tired to breathe. Even Viney was too tired to check on her injured friends, barely holding Hunter up on her staff. Clover nudged Willow and Ghost nudged Amity, as if saying we can help, you know you can fly with us, rightí?
The two young witches summoned their staffs and the other students with palismen followed their example, taking those who did not have a staff with them and the group quietly flew down the hallway.
….
“For Titan’s sake,” Cat said as she welcomed them in the Healing Homeroom, “You look horrible!”
“You should see the other guys,” Matt muttered as he slid off Puddles, only for his ankle to buckle, so he was caught by Bump who led him to one of the benches.
“Was there any trouble here?” Bump asked.
“A bit,” Emira said, one of her knees scratched, “three scouts got in.”
“ But we managed to kick them out and locked them up in the toilet down the hall,” Edric, who sported a nasty cut on his forehead, said proudly, “That potion was very helpful!”
“Aside from them, I don’t think anyone knows about this place yet.," Cat reasusered them, "You actually just missed the fight and, judging by how you look, I’m glad you did.” she added, then turned to the arrivals, “Viney, let me take a look at you first so you can help me help the others. Oh Titan, there are so few of us and so many injured.”
"I'm fine," Viney said, "Just tired, extremely tired."
"Here you go, one rejuvenation potion coming right up!" Edric gave her a vial, "We have a few more over there if anyone wants some," he pointed to the boxes in the back of the room. Eileen, who seemed a bit rattled, but was unharmed, gave him thumbs up and walked over to the boxes.
"Thanks," Viney downed the vial, "I'm usually not one for these, but right now, they are a must!"
“We will have to resort to some non-magical healing methods as well,” Miss Fairflicker said, leaning against the teacher’s desk, completely drained.
"I'll get the ice packs," Bump said, "And i think we have some pre-prepared healing tinctures lying around here somewhere as well."
“Viney, get over here,” Cat said again, "I really want to check on you!".
“I’m fine, I can assess myself,” Viney rolled her eyes, “I only have a few scratches, and I need to check on Hunter here. I’m  pretty sure he was knocked out by a spell.”
Cat sighed, "If you say so. Come on Willow, let me check on you since your teammate is so stubborn. And, tssk, Amity, that burn on your cheek looks nasty, but I think I have a perfect thing around here somewhere," she led the two witches to the stretcher.
Viney and Skara placed Hunter on another stretcher, getting a few odd looks from people around the room. Viney could not fully blame them. Not only was Hunter an unfamiliar face, but he also looked like he hadn’t properly slept in weeks and was dressed…well, to say he was dressed oddly was putting it lightly. She wondered what had happened to him, but focused on what she hoped was just magic-induced steep and not a head injury.
The cardinal palisman chirped worriedly and looked up at her, “Don’t worry,” she said to him, “I’ll do everything I can to make sure he is fine, ok?” The palisman then turned and it seemed like he was eying the rest of the students in the room suspiciously.
“Yeah, we’re not letting anything happen to him, we promise,” Skara said, and her cricket palisman made a chirp of agreement. She turned to Viney, “What do you think happened to him. He looks way worse and more tired than he did at the tryouts. And what’s with his outfit…” she tried to make sense of it. Why was he wearing half of his uniform? Why was he wearing a cloak that looked like he stole from a garbage can? What was with the, admittedly cute, purse?
“No idea,” Viney said, “but I’m certain we can get the answer to that when I manage to wake him up.”

Everyone say that Boscha handled the breakup poorly (which she did, I love her but that girl is bad at emotions) but everyone glosses over how Amity ditched her best friends for several years basically overnight (refused to go to Skara's birthday party) with no explanation, then show up at school the next day talking shit about them for no reason ("I grew up, Boscha, when will you?")
and if she did tell them why, I can't imagine that was all thar graceful either. "Hi I know we've been friends for years but I actually don't like you so I'm not coming to your birthday party"
Amity tossing Skara and Boscha to the side is... Well, the honest response is that it worked. At the time, it did its job dramatically and it felt like it was admittedly rushing Amity's development a little, not a lot, but in return we'd get her with the entire gang, she'd be able to repair this relationship with Willow and honestly that her Hexide drama would be over. Winging it Like Witches effectively did the same job where you get more of Amity claiming to be changing to help people like Willow and burying most any relevance Hexide had in the series to focus on the friend group.
You can already see where this is going. All of this workED. Past tense. There's a few things that in hindsight make what they did with Amity honestly really sloppy and muddle her motivations and what lesson you're supposed to take from it and a lot of it has to do with the focus on Amity's sole motivation, desire, goal, etc. being Luz. But, a curve ball first. Skara. Skara is actually part of the problem here much like how Lilith befriending Hooty changes the fundamental way you have to look at a paired character. Skara was paired with Boscha in S1, especially in Understanding Willow. The two were told to us to be jerks. Irredeemable. People Amity should never want to be with because she was forced to choose them over Willow. Now this is a pretty week argument and the show never actually managed to sell that Amity's friend group was much worse than normal people, especially normal people on the Isles, but if you're just enjoying the show, you can buy in. Then they make Skara join the Emerald Entrails and there's no bad blood between Skara and Willow at all. Does that mean she's a good person? We haven't seen any reason to believe she's changed as a person so was she always a good person? If so, why was she so blatantly thrown away? What did she do to deserve to have her invitation thrown away? Or... Or was the problem that Amity was willing to throw away a friend in the moment she was saying throwing away friends was wrong? That... That couldn't be true! I mean, just look at her and... Willow... Yeah, everyone has commented on this but it is still just a mistake on the writer's part. The fact that they don't share a single line to each other until... Eclipse Lake I think? And no interaction actually as friends until Falls and Follies creates a 'too little too late' problem, an issue TOH has a lot of honestly with its side plots. How many people could take Labyrinth Runners seriously when the main character for that was Gus, who the show has only ever treated seriously like... MAYBE TWICE before that? This creates a problem of asking what Amity's motivations actually were. She's a driven and focused enough girl that if she decided to repair that bridge, she would have. But in Winging it Like Witches, she only is motivated to act... For Luz. In Falls and Follies, she only goes to Willow because Willow is close... To Luz. I would list more examples but Amity interacts with other characters than Luz so rarely, and so rarely in an important way (Eclipse Lake has her and Hunter's interactions still ABOUT FUCKING LUZ), that the pattern is still clear. So when Amity said she just made her social life better, you're supposed to take that as her standing up for her old friend. Even explicitly in that episode, it's false though. It's for Luz. And so what are you supposed to take away from the fact that Amity tossed aside her friend group, those who cared about and supported her, for her girlfriend? Just because she knew Luz would disapprove of the meaner, more elite crowd? Because, uh, isolating your partner is usually something an abuser does and Amity did it to HERSELF which is REALLY AKWARD. And in return, Boscha was deeply hurt, AS SHE SHOULD BE. Losing a best friend, let alone losing them as she did, hurts like fucking hell. Those people matter to someone (usually. Amity can toss them away like burger wrappers apparently) and Boscha picks and chooses who she cares about already. Who she'll be weak with and for. And Amity was perhaps the ONLY person she ever was like that with. Want proof? I don't think Boscha ever actually mocks Amity. No mean jokes like to Skara or the dude with the emover during "Once Upon a Swap." No scolding, no aggressive gestures, nothing. Amity gets respect while just about NO ONE else does. And what did Amity do with that? She threw it away. And what did the show say about that? It told us to cheer. And again, at the time, treating it like a kid's show that was actually going to have Amity start caring about people more in general and repair this friendship of hers like ANY OTHER KIDS SHOW WOULD, it was okay. I cheered with her. But looking back, I find the words choking in my throat.

So, time to gather my thoughts and observations about
LABYRINTH RUNNERS:
Right of the bat, we're starting with some Gus Backstory, featuring Willow and how they became friends. Which is great!
For a moment, I thought he was using Oracle magic, but it is Illusion magic. Just really powerful Illusion magic.
Also, we've got a chain of care/good advice, from Willows Dads to Willow to Gus to Hunter and ultimately back to Gus.
Oh, and Mattholomule is back. And he's a multitrack student now!
Also, it seems there was maybe a birthday or something we missed? Was it Willows? Was it Gus? Anyway, Mattholomule was invited.
Some background Lumity, but not enough to overshadow the rest of the episode. Good.
Gus telling Willow to talk clearly to Willow! Willow & Amity team-up! The show finally addressing that lingering resentment, and Willow finally speaking her mind!
Also, the show trying to pull a fast one on the audience with Graye pretending to be a rebel at first, only to reveal it was a trick to try and brand students without their knowledge.
Graye trying to take away Gus Illusion magic, because it was his most powerful magic, and forcing him into a coven he knows nothing about!
(Personally, I wonder what happened/is happening at the other schools right now. Did those students just accept being forced into a coven? Or did they also stand up to Belos?)
And we have some powerful Illusion magic from Gus, and some insidious Illusion magic from Graye.
(Really, Illusionist make for fantastic villains. We're really lucky Gus is on our side.)
Oh, and turns out Hunter didn't become a hobo in Bonesborough, but was squatting in Hexside instead, living on snacks and researching Grimwalkers and stuff.
(Also, how did Bump not notice? Doesn't he have those creepy hall monitors that sniff out trouble anymore? Or was Hunter simply so polite and not bothersome they didn't consider him "trouble"?)
And Hunter still had trouble admitting that he did run away and that he helped Gus because it was the right thing to do.
Short break. But just gonna reiterate, Gus is one powerful witch. And you really don't want to get on his bad side.
Willow is really showing off her power this time as well. Love that for her!
We also get many cute little moments for other characters! Skara getting excited about planning a battle! Emira slipping into Healer mode when she sees Hunter.
Also, the Emerald Entrails helping Hunter escape! (Yes, they weren't named, but it was clearly them.
Bump was also in top form this time! I don't think we ever saw him fight before, but after Escaping Expulsion I'm glad to know that he did stand up for his students this time.
(Though really Bump, this is the second time you let in someone "sent from the Emperor" that tried to take the magic from your students.)
And then we got the BATTLE OF HEXSIDE.
Everyone gets to do something!
Though I also wonder where all other students were. I know, the reason they have to keep this group so small is that they are working with a budget and a limited time frame. But still.
Also, Hexside is now openly opposing the Emperor. Which is kinda scary.
On the other hand, Hexside is a school that once destroyed its rival school rebuilt on the ruins. So, I think Bump might know what to do.
-> Now we've got Team RED, Team Clawthorne and Team Hexside on the side of the Rebellion.
Another Break. Let's talk about Huntlow/Winter.
HUNTLOW SHIPPERS KEEP WINNING.
We've got Hunter seeing through fake Willow because she doesn't act like herself!
We've got his betrayal of Willow among his worst memories.
And we've got blushing, on more than one occasion.
Yes, so far it's only on Hunters side, but Willow still was the first to defend him in front of Bump.
Anyway, still crumbs, but those are some delicious crumbs indeed.
Oh boy. Back to Gus and Illusion magic.
Damn, that boy's magic is POWERFUL.
He put MOST OF THE SCHOOL into one big Illusion without even trying!
It also puts what he did at the Graveyard into new context. I think I actually saw people argue that maybe Galdorstones do work for Illusions and Gus used them. NOPE! That was All Gus, just letting loose what he usually keeps back.
(Also, his face after the Graveyard illusion. It wasn't about the physical. It was about the emotional exhaustion, because he weaponized his trauma.)
Oh, and thinking back to Hooties Moving Hassle. The foreshadowing of how powerful Willow and Gus really are!
And Graye being such a great antagonist. He's not only using Illusions to trick people, but aiming for potential weaknesses in particular, using Willow against Gus, and Belos against Hunter.
But also, Graye keeps himself out of the line of fire, while using actors to make up for the limitation of his illusions!
(Which kinda mirrors, again, how Gus tricked Bria at the Graveyard!)
Oh, and we learn that GRAYE WANTS THE GALDORSTONES!
I wonder if he was the one searching for them in TTLGR now.
And instead of Gus getting traumatized, this episode was about Gus being forced to live through his trauma again.
Also, I wonder if the whole forcing out memories is well known Illusion magic, or just something that Graye knows how to do.
(I assume it's Illusion magic because he would have a seal, right?)
I think that's all I have for now. Anyway, we've got something for a lot of characters. But please don't forget about Gus in his own episode again.
EDIT: I CAN'T BELIEVE I FORGOT ABOUT THE MIRROR GUS SWIPED FROM GRAYE.
Now that is a Chekhov's Gun if I've ever seen one. Wonder when that'll get into play again.

Who is likely to take Hunter in + How is drives the story:
Chances are I’m going to edit this post along the way but these are my thought so far just after 2x17 events.
Starting with The Owl House:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Considering we already have 2x17, they seem less likely as of now. I would’ve assumed they chased Hunter down but with all of them wanted and so close to being arrested, it’s probably not the safest for Hunter to be there. But what about after the events of the story?
After, it definitely seems possible. They’re clearly making a sibling dynamic between Luz and Hunter (as if they don’t have that already). And it would be good for him to branch out and learn the ways of wild magic, especially away from Belos. This family, especially Luz, are so good at making others see another point of view and keeping an open mind. It would be nice to see them try to help Hunter and make him feel comfortable. Showing that just because he wasn’t born like other witches or even humans, he still gets to be his own person. And we all know Eda loves adding more people to the family. But at the same time, Hunter and Eda need time to build a connection. At the moment, it seems more like a “I’ll take him on weekends and holidays” kind of deal rather than a permanent situation but I definitely see them becoming family whether they live together or not.
In terms of where we are this the story right now, it would be a lot to focus on. With Luz going back home, King’s new identity, and everyone clearly keeping it hidden that they’re upset Luz will head home soon, the story would be pretty thick if Hunter were added on though I wouldn’t mind much. That being said, I’m sure they’ll meet again either planning a rebellion or somewhere within the rebellion.
Willow:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Chances are Hunter is in a group chat with the Emerald Entrails after the events of 2x13 ASIAS. Out of everyone on the team, Hunter would most likely ask for Willow’s help as he clearly respects her as captain. It would be a nice place for him to stay away from Castle grounds and have somewhere cozy. Plus Willow seems to have no ill will towards Hunter as she’s awaiting “Caleb’s next day off.”
These two are clearly made to be parallels of each other via being “half witches.” I’d even make the argument that they’re foils of one another.
When we first meet Willow in S1, she’s bullied, has one friend, and is lacking self-confidence. It isn’t until she’s thrown into the plant track where we see her blossoming (hehe). With Hunter, we saw him at the top of his game as the Golden Guard and Emperor’s right hand man. Now he’s lost all of that and is disgusted at the thought of being the G.G successor. If Hunter is with Willow, we would get more Willow and Gus (I’m assuming) content. Willow would help Hunter the same way Luz and Gus helped her. She would help him find his confidence and sense of meaning in this world.
Now the problems: 1. Did Hunter have his scroll with him when he chased down Team RED (Raine, Eber, Darius) into the Night Market or did he leave it at the castle? I guess Flapjack (DAMN YOU PANCAKES) would be able to get it by flying up to his window but something tells me he wouldn’t leave Hunter alone like that even for a couple minutes in case something happens.
2. How would Willow’s dads react to having a 16 year old boy who’s literally the G.G and on the run in their house? But that could be easily fixed by having them be chill with it or making up a cover story and lying to them. Which would lead to conflict later but oh well chaotic route for the win.
Even if Hunter isn’t with Willow, I definitely think they’ll have room to grow together in the future and I’m excited to see how that happens.
Darius (Raine and Eber?):
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I shall admit my bias here. I want Darius to take Hunter in. But I also think that’s the route we’re heading towards and he’s the most plausible guardian for Hunter.
Let’s start by saying Darius isn’t the kindest. He’s definitely not perfect taking into consideration “you don’t deserve to wear that patch,” and “Darius ignored me as per usual” in Hunter’s palisman observations (if you don’t know what I’m talking about, it’s on YouTube. Dana did a stream).
That being said, it’s clearly depicted that Darius is not what he seems. He’s actively rebelling against Belos and was kind enough to give Hunter a scroll to contact his friends outside of the castle and pat him on the head. Bare minimum, I know, but that kindness has been foreign to Hunter for the past 16 years. Not only that but he shows genuine concern and panic over Hunter being trapped in Belos’ mind. I like the idea that they can make and grow their own family together. It would be nice to see them mourn and heal together.
It seems set up perfectly anyways. The fact that Hunter starts acting on his own accord the same time we find out that Darius was the previous G.G’s protege? Darius didn’t like that Hunter was Belos’ little lap dog. And that we know all of the previous G.G’s rebelled against Belos at some point and now Darius is as well and Hunter is on his way to doing so? He could help Hunter stand his ground. They could learn about Grimwalkers together as Darius knows Hunter’s predecessor, he knows the most about the previous G.G and he definitely knows something isn’t right over the fact that his mentor disappeared and this kid looks so similar. Darius has something to fight for with his connection to the G.G but now it has purpose and meaning cause he’s looking after Hunter.
Their stories align so perfectly.
Not only would we be able to focus on Hunter’s story cleanly about finding his own sense of dignity and self-worth, we get to see Darius humbled and step up, ready to fill in the role of a mentor and even a positive father figure in Hunter’s life. He gets to give back to his mentor by taking care of Hunter. It’s also worth noting, it would push Team RED’s objective and tie it to the main plot too. We’d get to see more of their story and how they started working together after Eda’s Requiem. It would be the smartest writing move with what we have so far.
Not to mention, chances are they found him already. You can’t tell me after such a strong reaction from Darius, plus Raine clearly wanting to help Eda get her kid (and their future stepdaughter) back, they just gave Eda the teleportation potion and dipped. I figured they would’ve stayed hidden to ensure Luz and Hunter made it out safely which means they could’ve seen the direction Hunter ran and followed him.
Only problem is: Would Hunter trust the three coven heads? After everything he went through, it would most likely take him a while to trust an adult in power, especially ones so close to Belos. And I feel like the only safe place they would hide him in where he can have access to basic needs are either if they have their own individual homes away from the castle, or maybe the BATS hideout that we saw in Eda’s Requiem.
Honestly, knowing this show and it’s creator, I wouldn’t be surprised if they went with none of those and surprise us somehow.
Regardless, I feel like all three of these are good choices and it’s nice to realize how many people care for Hunter and at the end of this hopefully he’ll have the biggest found family that ever found familied. Fingers crossed he isn’t just camping in the woods alone and cold.

Another Huntric Idea (I guess???)
I have idea 💡 of how Ed and Hunter meet, but its kinda long lol
K so Hexside is hosting a play, Luz and Co (including the Emerald Entrails) are participating in, w/ Ed and Em asked to join in their little theater production, which is written kinda in the style of Shakespeare's plays. Ed enjoys poetry, and this seems like a good opportunity for him to show off his sick poetry skills~
Hunter finds out about this play from the Emerald Entrails group chat. While he knows they still want to be his friends and have pretty much forgiven him (given worse things have happened) he still feels he has to make it up to them somehow after basically "kidnapping" them. He decides in the spur of the moment that he will join their play production (and Darius covers for Hunter while he sneaks out) plus Hunter has that dramatic flair, might as well put it to good use. He's nervous, but excited (and determined) to see his friends again.
When Hunter arrives, Luz spots him and yadda yadda he ends gets cast as a major character or a Star Role in the play. Edric gets cast also in a major role/a Star Role (Luz and her need for Shenanigans if you will lol)
While rehearsing, both Edric and Hunter appear cool and confident, their performances thus far seem flawless. They're all having fun working on this play and Hunter is determined that there's nothing that can possibly go wrong, he'll finally be able to make it up to the EE. Edric is determined to prove he can be serious and that he's not some screw up who's always goofing off. Plus, Ed thinks Hunter is pretty cool (and cute).
The night of the actual performance, everything goes off without a single hitch... up until one of the most climatic parts of the play where the focus is solely on Edric and Hunter.
The "trap door"/platform underneath them opens up and they both fall.
They're trapped underneath the stage and the performance is either on hold or their understudies take their place for the rest of the play (the show must go on or whatever lol). For Hunter, this was basically his breaking point, so much of this self hate has been boiling up inside of him since his day-off at Hexside. He is angry at himself for constantly letting everyone in one way or another down. His voice breaks a bit at the mention of him even failing to be a normal teen like the rest of his friends, that it seems like no matter how much he tries that he'll ultimately just ruin whatever remotely good relationship he has with anyone in one way or another, and that he deserves to be punished and hurt for being so stupid in believing he could be loved despite all his mistakes.
And Edric... can't help but relate to a degree. Always seen as the Screw Up of the Blight Trio and never taken seriously. But... he knows despite his screw ups, doesn't mean he deserves to punished. That there are people like his siblings and Eda who love and even encourage him to make mistakes to allow himself to grow in a positive way.
Edric reaches out to Hunter...
Yadda yadda Edric and Hunter comfort each other as they continue being stuck under the Hexside Theatre Stage. Crying and laughing through their tears, telling each other stories of stuff they've done/seen.
Later on, after the play is over, Willow and Em manage to find them. Turns out the door leading to the drop underneath the stage was sealed shut ... for whatever reason (call it plot convenience if you will)
Both Ed and Hunter look like emotional wrecks lmao
Hunter apologizes to Willow for not being able finish performing in the play, he really wanted to make it up to her and the rest of the team by doing this. Willow assures him that he doesn't owe her nor the team anything, water under the bridge, and that he's their friend.
Ed and Em also talk, how he feels that no one takes him seriously because her and Amity are so seemingly perfect. Sibling hugs all around.
After the whole ordeal, Hunter and Edric exchange penstagrams to stay in contact, and a new friendship (+ possible romance if ya want~) blossoms from there.
__________
I'm most likely gonna end up drawing a little something inspired by this idea of mine.
Though, if anyone else feels inspired to draw or write a fanfic based on this for whatever reason please tag me/share it with me because I always love looking at stuff yall send my way cause its all so cool hjgjkghjhjjfj

Labyrinth Runners
That was a great Gus episode!
First episode without Luz and since Willow said that the Owl House was surrounded by the coven guards, this episodes takes place while Luz, King and Hooty were gone (probably when they were returning)
So Adrian Grey is definitely on Belos' side. And that theory that he's actually a basilisk appears to be not true.
Love that Matt, Emira and Edric are all multi-tracking now! And Matt's learning illusions! And I like that the teacher and Bump are supportive.
And it makes sense that Hunter would go to Hexide and was the unlikely ally. He now has a good group of friends he can lean on and not just his Emerald Entrails teammates!
It was nice that Amity and Willow had a chance to strengthen their friendship. I like that Amity learned that Willow does not need protecting.
And we got to see how Willow and Gus met!
Seeing Bump fight the coven scouts alongside the students was awesome.
