Topics: Valid ID + 2020 Possible Requirements + Prohibited Items
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Valid Forms of ID
Any event that is hosted through the venues we frequently cover should be assumed +21, unless clearly marked as “All Ages”. You will need a valid form of ID to enter these venues, even if you don’t drink.
Valid forms of ID include: Driver’s License, State Issued ID, Passport, Military ID, Merchant Mariner ID, or a paper copy of your replacement ID with the expired ID.
(Unfortunately, if you lost your ID and only have a paper ID, most venues will not allow you in with the temporary form.)
—--------
2020-
After the events of 2020, some venues require you to present proof of vaccination to enter depending on the current health and safety guidelines. Additionally, venues can require a mask be worn if the general population is dealing with a new variant flaring up.
So, try to keep an eye on updated protocols.
—----
Prohibited Items
Most venues have policies against the admission of specific types of objects and accessories.
One of the most common problems we see is related to spikes and chains. Even if these additions legitimately cannot be removed from a piece of your outfit, some venues will flat out turn you away for them.
Most venues will also turn away guests with water bottles (yes, even if they are empty), as well as self defense items.
The only venue thus far who has directly confirmed they will hold onto your self defense items at the door is The Crocodile in Seattle, WA.
For your convenience, here's a list of our featured venues' FAQ + Prohibited Items Lists in alphabetical order!

Francis Sarabia presenta concierto y disco en Madrid
Tumblr media

You all know how I feel about Skelator, right?  I’ve seen them close shows with like-minded bands... bands that made we doubt myself.  “Do I really like this type of metal as much as I thought?  And then Skelator goes on and CRUSHES...

The Off-Ramp/El Corazon/Funhouse, 109 Eastlake Ave E, Seattle.
A small place, it’s been a live music venue/bar since construction in 1910!  During the 30s it was apparently a ‘race’ or ‘negro’ bar, but I’ve never found any firm confirmation of that, just word of mouth. That does make sense tho, then as now, it’s not in one of the ‘trendier’ spots.
Site of Pearl Jam’s FIRST show, everybody who’s ever played Seattle, played here. Soundgarden. Alice in Chains. Mother Love Bone. Mudhoney. The Gits. Gruntruck. Nirvana. The U Men. Everybody.
Dimly lit (getting good pics is a miracle), sweaty, dark, loud, tiny dive bar. The best place ever for the authentic ‘rock and roll’ show.
I noticed a photo of Soundgarden making the rounds and realized I’ve never told y’all about the Off Ramp, so here we go.
Pic 1) Original Off Ramp signage, at the Mopop, Sept 2019. This overlooks Andy’s statue in the Home And Away exhibit.
Pic 2) Flyer from 1991. Alice in Chains? Mookie Blaylock? What weird names these Seattle bands have!
Pic 3) Original outdoor signage in place, probably 1991 or 92, pic from the Rocket.
Pic 4) Front of the building, April 2018.
Pic 5) That’s the entire stage. All of it. Yup. That’s all. Pure power is concentrated! July 2018, before a FlannelFest show.
Pic 6) Soundgarden plays, probably Sept 5, 1991. Note the chicken wire wrapped around the sprinkler pipe in the upper right hand of the photo - this was due entirely to an earlier incident (probably the October, 1987 show) where Mr. Chris ‘OSHA’s worst nightmare’ Cornell managed to tear down the piping by swinging on it. Photo credit to Charles Pederson.
Pic 7) Pearl Jam’s (then Mookie Blaylock) first show, Oct 22, 1990. Photo credit (and our unending gratitude) to Karen Mason-Blair.
Pic 8) Sometimes you just don’t know who might show up. The bassist in this pic, from April 2016, is a guy called Hiro... Yup, Hiro Yamamoto, helping out in the band of the son of one of his friends from Stereo Donkey. Nobody knew he was going to be there, it was an electrified moment! These kind of things happen in Seattle.
Pic 9) Shenannigans go on with Hell’s Belles, September 2019. I’m squatting directly to the left of the sound rack seen in the pic above with Soundgarden to get this shot. Like I said, tiny place.
When I heard the place was in danger of demolition, I admit I MAY have decided to preserve a little bit of it. Picture 10. I’m not confessing to anything here but this MAY be the pull from the ladies’ room stall, second from the end. It fell off into my pocket. What can I say?
The current situation has everything on hold, the Off Ramp/El Corazon may come back, and we hope it does. So much history, so many memories.
This is our history.

BIRDS IN ROW TO SOAR ACROSS THE STATES ON EXPANSIVE U.S. TOUR IN MAY & JUNE
The French post-hardcore trio are supporting their critically acclaimed sophomore LP, We Already Lost The World, out now via Deathwish Inc.
Tumblr media
"Never has misery sounded so good." - Metal Hammer
Known for their excursions through the ripples of punk and splinters of ‘90s post-hardcore, French trio Birds In Row are bringing their raucous requiems Stateside once again for an extensive North American tour this summer. A full tour itinerary can be found below.
Additionally, Birds In Row have unveiled an excellent two-song video (Live from Paris) featuring tracks “Love Is Political” and “Triste Sire” - check that out now on YouTube.
Both video tracks appear on 2018’s lauded We Already Lost The World LP. Equal parts melodic and abrasive, Birds In Row can be broadly described as “post-everything,” blurring the lines between hardcore, punk, and all its tangents and derivatives.  Recorded and mixed by Amaury Sauve at The Apiary and mastered by Thibault Chaumont at Deviant Lab, We Already Lost the World blends post punk and angular rock influences into something stunning and electrifying.
After spending the better part of last year support heavy music legends Neurosis and Converge, Birds In Row will climb to the headlining slot for a month’s worth of tour dates alongside spoken word emo quartet LISTENER. Post-folk musician Quentin Sauvé will serve as support.
