So I saw a poll a few days ago about whether your blorbo would survive if the person they loved the most died and they couldn’t save them. And so I was thinking about the leverage OT3, but specifically if both of the other 2 died and they couldn’t save them, how would each of them go on.

I think Hardison would survive. He would obviously be devastated and especially if he was trying to save them from his computer or something while they were in the field and he failed, he would never get over it. However, he has a support network both deep and wide in his nana, his foster siblings, and to some extent his online friends, as well as Breanna, Sophie, Harry, and other people he knows through Leverage. I think the loss of Parker and Eliot together would fundamentally change him, but eventually, he would be able to move on and find happiness and connection with others again both because he has that support network to hold him up and because connecting with people is such a fundamental part of who Hardison is.

I think Parker is a survivor. She has had to be a survivor for her whole life. She is used to surviving even when everything falls apart. I think she would try and use some of the coping mechanisms we see her use in the show of trying to attribute her emotions to other people or to past or future Parker, but those would be woefully insufficient to this devastation. I could see her for a time running away from people and trying to lose herself in jumping off high buildings and stealing things, but it would end in an utter breakdown. She might even regret becoming the person who had opened her heart and changed together with them and tried to do the right thing. She might almost wish she had stayed alone with her emotions locked away to avoid this current pain. Except she couldn’t ever regret knowing them. She would either come back or Sophie would eventually find her, and they would commiserate about losing their person(s). If Parker had failed to save the boys, she might feel a lot of guilt around Breanna, but Breanna would likely feel guilt about why she wasn't there / couldn't save them either. They would eventually talk it out and then be able to support each other. Parker would survive, but she might lose some of her progress in opening up to people. Someone else would almost certainly have to take over Leverage International for a while. I think Parker would make it through and recover, but would never be as open as she managed to get while she was with Hardison and Eliot. 

I think Eliot is the toughest call. On the one hand, he has survived so much that others didn't. From the army, to the PMCs, to working for Moreau and others like him, to (probably the biggest challenge) facing the guilt and shame of who he had become. Eliot got through it all. But now, after swearing to watch over them until his dying day, if he failed to save them, then he would prefer to die with them. Eliot is the most likely of the three to not survive the loss of the other two, but I think it would come down to whether he felt he was still needed. If Sophie, Breanna, Harry, and others that he cares about needed him to protect them, then he might just make it through for them. Eliot, of course, believes he is already damned, and he is not looking for redemption because he doesn't believe it's possible after the things he’s done, but he appreciates the opportunity to be useful. To his mind, he needs to be useful to the people who are redeemed and to doing good in the world, because it’s already too late for him. If losing his partners happened while it was just the 3 of them, I think he would go after those that did it and not intend to survive the process. But if he has the rest of the team, I think he would stay alive to continue protecting them. Especially because of Breanna. If he failed Hardison, he can at least protect his baby sister. Eliot would stay alive for exactly as long as he felt useful, but he would likely never be able to really try retiring from the physical parts of his job and would probably plan on going out swinging when he got too old to be a hitter. Depending on a lot of variables, the rest of the team might eventually be able to convince him that there were other ways to take care of them like cooking and advising and being there for people, but it would be a long shot and, either way, he would never forgive himself for failing to protect Parker and Hardison or for not being the first to go.

Darryl Masterlist

Darryl came into being as a random name thrown out there as one of Hardison’s many foster siblings on this post about The Hardison Foster Sibling Group Chat. And then he kind of began popping up other places as well. Darryl now belongs to fandom as a whole, and this is the masterlist of places he’s been mentioned and the Lore.

-Very lazy, would prefer to get Nana flowers every year for her birthday but that is against the rules of Hardison’s Nana Birthday Sign-Up Sheet. -Writes incredibly long fanfictions for Star Wars rarepairs. -Incredibly perceptive. Totally guessed Eliot was the one cooking all those delicious things. Also one of the only people in the Nana Family Group Chat to recognize the OT3 before they actually told everyone. -Darryl and Hardison used to share a room, which is why he knows Exactly who Hardison’s type is. -Likes to gloat. Preferably through personally designed mugs. -plays D&D, really likes the arm warmers Eliot knit for him. (The first ‘real’ fanfic Darryl ever popped up in!) -Has snakes and had to move them cross country fast after he got promoted, which ended up going down as the Snake Relay, a move Hardison has used several times since in his charity work getting activists out of dangerous situations. -Darryl’s oldest snake is called Snarryl. -Works as an analyst. okay so writing this I’m not sure if our fandoms overlap but I now have a MIGHTY NEED for the leverage crew to take down gretchen’s experiment and save the teens in the wilds

so the crew finds out through X means that there is a social/psychological experiment running that stranded teenagers alone on deserted islands with no supplies or support and they’re fucking HORRIFIED

they want to have gretchen and her crew ruined and jailed IMMEDIATELY but getting these kids off the island took precedence

in the shortest time crunch the team ever made (not counting the bottle job), the leverage crew landed on the bunker island where the two groups of teens were now together

the teens are like super skeptical about a random group of people landing on the island claiming to be saving them (they don’t want to have a repeat situation) but they are very open and honest to them and honestly who could come up with ‘yeah so we’re a group of thieves that picks up where the law leaves off and support victims of unfair power structures and the rich and powerful’

i just wanna see the leverage crew save these kids, fucking destroy gretchen, and send seth to jail idk

maybe strand gretchen’s team on a deserted island for good measure, per the teens’ requests

question, since you seem to be the authority on Darryl.

so, I've been thinking about names a lot because I guess I blinked wrong one day and am now obsessed with Quinn. and by extension Quinn and Parker as a duo. and maybe Quinn has one name because he was in the show for a combined 6 minutes, but personally I think Quinn has one name because like Parker, he just adopted this one name and will take no questions about it.

I don't think we know a lot about Alec Hardison's birth parents, but from what he's said it seemed like nana is, well, nana is everything to him. (not to say he didn't once love his birth parents, but I'm just making assumptions for the sake of this headcanon.)

nana, who runs a leads a multi-denominational household (aka supports the religion her kids come to her household with) seems like the type who, if formally adopting a kid from foster care, would let the kid choose if they wanted to change their name.

in redemption, Breanna is Breanna Casey. she mentions her parents dying. it makes sense that she would want to keep her parents name if she had a good relationship with them and losing them was traumatic.

in the Darryl post, Eliot refers to Darryl as a Hardison. we don't know nana's last name (or even her legal first name), but what if it is Hardison. and Alec and Darryl are two of the kids that chose to be formally adopted and become a Hardison because they were lost alone once and nana claimed them and loved them.

I guess this is not an actual question, sorry. I just wondered if you had any thoughts?

I am technically the authority on Darryl since I made him up, but Darryl belongs to fandom. I’m more of a Darryl Keeper. A Darryl Lore Collector. People tell me stuff about Darryl and I go: yeah, sure.

(Also I blame @darkfinch and @be-gay-do-heists for the Quinn Renaissance, personally. But yes, Quinn 🤝 Parker one name supremacy.)

I think the show left it intentionally vague if Nana's last name is Hardison, which really annoys me because there's so much meta to be had about Hardison’s last name either way. (Is it his birth name? Is it Nana's last name? Is it his first Iron Clad Alias that he decided to become Famous with?)

I love the idea of Nana giving kids about to age out of the system the option of becoming a Hardison if that is her last name, though. Or at any time. Or if they want to be an honourary Hardison. Alec can make you an honourary Hardison, right Alec? With your little plastic cards? (Insert Hardison freaking out because Nana is totally letting him know she found his fake ID-making set up.)

I’ve been kind of on the fence about Darryl’s last name, but that is lovely. I hope Redemption some day gives us a definitive answer on Nana’s Last Name. Until them she can join Parker and Quinn’s club, I guess.

Aside from Receiving The Vibes, what's his special skill? What career is he pursuing? How does he handle the fact no one believes him about stuff at first (for a while, I imagine the more he's proven right the more people believe) how's his Role In The Family? I dunno why but I'm kinda picking up Middle Child vibes? What's his favorite food? Last name? Hopes and Dreams? Social security numb-

Listen. I know nothing about Darryl except what fandom tells me. Darryl belongs to all of us. Did I know he had snakes? I did not. Did I know he plays D&D? I did not, but it tracks.

I like to think Darryl has some kind of analyst job that would lend itself very easily to what Leverage does but he's like, totally uninterested in doing crime. Alec, buddy, your friends are cool and all but there seems to be way too much running around and being put in danger for my taste. Anyway did you hear Tasha's dissertation defence is next week and she doesn't want any of us to come, can you do your crime thing so we can all watch anyway? Nana is making snacks for a watch party.

I bet bb!Hardison got really good at finding his way around convoluted systems and maybe or maybe not with some hacking helping Nana get Darryl the accommodations he needed in school.
