Misc. Headcannons as a little treat and also cause I'm bored. (Most are region based!)
Hyperlaser tends to like writing as a coping mechanism. He keeps everything in a single storyline in a book that will forever stay a work in progress. ^ All it is is him putting his life into a different perspective. Most of the time I feel like the book would be pretty boring, just a day after day after day kind of thing. Noticing the little patterns around him, noting down what he eats, how he rested, etc.
All demon horns, if expressing strong emotions, can emit sparks and/or electric currents in the direction of growth. These sparks are harmless and are more of a pulse of light if anything. ^ if strong emotions are felt and the demon has injured/broken horns, the sparks/electricity can escape through the injury, and depending on the severity can cause a sparkshower. ^ these sparks also crackle like static electricity, while the glowing pulse going up the horn(s) is a faint hum. (This is partially inspired by horns glowing when the Phighters phinishers are ready, though when that happens it's kinda like when you go into a rage in dnd. A bunch of built up power erupts and the horns pulse so fast they look like they're glowing)
And now the faction headcannons!
BlackRock is a tourist attraction most of the time! With the mountains and valleys, it tends to feel a lot like Banff National Park in Canada. ^ tons of expensive as hell food, shops, ect all meant to trap and drown people.
Blackrocks economy is the worst out of all the factions. Many people have to eat only a few times a week, and when they do, it almost always tastes like gasoline and/or dirt. Of course, with the tourist traps, no one knows unless they move there how bad the cuisine is. They probably steal recipies from neighboring factions.
All of Blackrocks labs are built into the largest mountains, the only way in and out being the massive steel doors.
BlackRock was of course named after the mountains in the region, which are made out of a slick black rock. The most common tourist souvenir is a piece of this rock from the mountains.
there's of course the more mountainous places in BlackRock, but most of the population resides in the center of the faction which is protected by the mountains surrounding the massive city like a bowl. ^ this city resembles downtown japan and New York times square, but x100 more busy and advanced in their technology.
this city tends to only be visited by the tourists who are dead set on going, as it's not very tourist friendly with its inhabitants and the stores are more than expensive. Their cornerstores arent even that good either.
BlackRock doesnt celebrate anything, and is more secluded when it comes to their culture.
At playgrounds center is just an urban town, always resembling one of those classic movies based in the 1970's/80's. ^ the outskirts of Playground is a massive and dense forest system, where plenty of secrets are held. Most of them are hideouts though.
Playground is a heavily community based faction, and it doesnt have many big cities. The capital is one of the only cities, and even then many still prefer the towns and neighborhoods scattered across the faction.
There's also a few large lakes around the faction, so beach culture is a fairly big staple.
Playground doesn't usually celebrate a lot of things as a whole faction, and more rather everyone has massive parties and celebrates with their own family and friends. Party-hopping happens quite a bit because of this
The thieves den is the second most visited faction, and the calmest of them all. A permenant fog covers the ground, giving it an almost eerie feel, though it fluctuates with the weather.
Community is also a fairly big staple, though it's more in business then personal connections. ^ there is plenty of farmland and tons of street markets open almost all the time.
The Thieves den, without much competition, easily has the best cuisine out of all the factions with all the freshly grown and harvested ingredients, along with talented chefs.
The capital of thieves would most likely look a lot like those old chinese towns, but I wouldnt be suprised if theres a bunch of Korean inspiration in there as well.
Festivities are not very common, but when they do happen, Theives den goes all out with some of the most light and decoration crazy celebrations. Most times the capital holds it, and almost always it ends up being the whole city decked out to celebrate.
The theives den also has plenty of bars and pubs/hotels scattered around the faction, and they all reside fairly close to each other.
The lost temple is the driest faction of the four, residing in small towns around a massive desert, usually based around water pools and oasis.
Most of the buildings are made of sandstone and chiseled with delicate details.
Of course the church of the true eye resides somewhere in the capital, most likely hiding behind a different name.
Lost temple is probably the most menacing faction specifically for how uneasy the air around it is. Naturally theres some very nice and safe places and experiences to go to, but if you take a wrong turn it's very easy to end up in the wrong side of town.
markets are also fairly common, every other street has at least a few stalls up daily.
the more populated areas are definitely a little more "yee haw cowboy" esque, having taller buildings and such.

So Minecraft has new wolves!!
I am very happy about this, but it does make me curious what species each variation is based off of! You too? Awesome!
Tumblr media
Rusty Wolf = Dhole
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Seeing a little red jungle wolf took me right back to reading The Jungle Book as a kid, so I pretty much instantly decided they were dholes! A.k.a. Asian wild dogs or red dogs. They're an endangered canid native to Central, South, East and Southeast Asia, and they live in large clans ranging from 12-40 members.
Pale (Original) Wolf & Black Wolf = Grey Wolves
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Our familiar friends have probably always been North American grey wolves, just pales ones! Despite their name, this iconic member of the canid family has an incredible amount of variation, and different subspecies of them are scattered all over North America.
Striped Wolf = Aardwolf
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Okay, this is interesting, because they are definitely aardwolves! However, despite their names, aardwolves are actually the tiniest member of the hyaenidae family! Native to East and Southern Africa, they are exclusively insectivores and are known for following aardvarks to use their vacated burrows and foraging grounds. I think it's fascinating that a hyena was chosen for the wolf skins!
Snowy Wolf = Arctic Wolf
Tumblr media Tumblr media
One of the many subspecies of gray wolves, arctic wolves are native to the Canadian Arctic and Alaska. Thanks to their territory being generally undesirable to humans, they are the only subspecies that can found across the entirety of their original range. Arctic wolves seem the most logical choice for snowy wolves, through there are several other pale-coated northern subspecies they could technically be.
Ashen Wolf = Northwestern Wolf
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Speaking of northern subspecies, let's have some fun with the ashen variant. I'm pinning them as the Northwestern wolf, a.k.a. the Mackenzie Valley wolf! Native to, well, the northwestern part of Canada and Alaska, they are arguably the largest subspecies of wolf we know of. They match up pretty well with their Minecraft counterparts both in terms of habitat and possible coloration!
Woods Wolf = Eastern Wolf
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ooo, okay, I went down a rabbit hole with this one! Eastern wolves, a.k.a Great Lakes wolves or Algonquin wolves, are native to the Great Lakes region of North America. They exist in an identification limbo, with no current ruling on whether they are a subspecies of grey wolf, red wolf, or their own unique branch that drifts closer to coyotes on the canid family tree. There is even some debate on whether the Great Lakes and Algonquin variants should be counted as the same subspecies, which I think is fascinating!
Spotted Wolf = African Wild Dog
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The more people who know these good bois exists, the happier I am. African wild dogs, a.k.a. painted dogs or Cape hunting dogs, are the largest wild canine in Africa. They live in packs of 5-30 members and are known their cooperative hunting tactics, using stamina to wear down prey. They're highly social animals, and you'll never find a lone dog.
Chestnut Wolf = Bat Eared Fox
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So, initially, I wrote off these guys cause I wasn't counting foxes, but I gave in. The chestnut wolves don't look like much of any existing canines, and nothing that lives in taiga forest. So, bat eared foxes are my best guess. They're small canids native to southern Africa, and are part of the subfamily Otocyoninae, which is a sister family to the families containing true foxes and racoon dogs.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Speaking of raccoon dogs, they're my second best guess for the origin of the chestnut wolf. Their habitat makes slightly more sense, being from the forests of Japan and east Asia!

NOIR CITY 21
Celebrating its 21st year, NOIR CITY, the largest annual film noir festival in the world, returns to Oakland's Grand Lake Theatre, January 19-28, 2024. FNF president Eddie Muller will present a dozen double bills pairing an English language noir with a similarly themed foreign language film—24 films over 10 days. Whatever the country of origin, there are heists, prison breaks, missing persons, cultural alienation, love triangles, and lots of plain old-fashioned murder.
Muller says this edition "has been tailored to satisfy those folks who love noir filled with the colorful vernacular slang so essential to American and British noir—as well as adventurous viewers intrigued by seeing a familiar story—typically a crime committed for passion or profit—play out in cultures with different values, mores, and styles." Through his programming of NOIR CITY festivals around the nation and his hosting of the popular Noir Alley franchise on Turner Classic Movies, Muller aims to move audiences past the idea that film noir is a strictly American genre.
Joining him this year, as co-programmer and co-host, is acclaimed film scholar Imogen Sara Smith, a familiar commentator on The Criterion Channel streaming service. "Attending NOIR CITY in the Bay Area has been a highlight of my year for over a decade," says Smith, "and I'm thrilled to be joining Eddie as co-host this year. I'm especially excited that the program we've put together will introduce audiences to some rare international titles, alongside Hollywood classics. It's going to be a stellar festival."
Tumblr media
Kicking off the collection of rarities is the FNF's most recent restoration — 1952's Argentine film Never Open That Door (No abras nunca esa puerta) — based on two short stories by American master of suspense fiction, Cornell Woolrich. The picture was preserved by the Film Noir Foundation in 2013 and has now been completely restored by the FNF through UCLA Film & Television Archive, thanks in part to a grant from the Golden Globe Foundation (formerly HFPA). Fernando Martín Peña, Argentina's pre-eminent cinephile, will be on hand to introduce the film with Eddie Muller.
Included on the 2024 schedule are English-language rarities such as Black Tuesday (1954), Plunder Road (1957), Across the Bridge (1957), and Strongroom (1962). Little-seen international titles include The Human Beast (France, 1938), Aimless Bullet (South Korea, 1960), Bitter Rice (Italy, 1949), Four Against the World (Mexico, 1950), Zero Focus (Japan, 1961), and Smog (1962), a forgotten surrealist masterpiece by Italian director Franco Rossi freshly restored by UCLA Film & Television Archive. Explore the full line up, buy tickets for individual double features and Passports (All-Access Passes) at the festival website.

Chapter 216 Trivia
This is my favorite panel from this chapter, sorry Whyman…
Tumblr media
"The world's top two rocket scientists" — only because they didn't head over to one of the NASA headquarters in Los Angeles (~550 km south by boat) for more people to help them out…
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Chrome's quote here is generally attributed to the Greek philosopher Aristotle, from the book "Metaphysics". (Aristotle never says these exact words, it's only implied in the writing.)
Tumblr media
Why was Chrome holding the flag? Was the flag-planting action to show the KoS passing new frontiers into space, or will it be a parallel for him planting the flag on the moon if he's one of the chosen ones?
Either way, that's not the original KoS flag, it's a copy with outlines.
Tumblr media
The rocket's launchpad may be located on the opposite side of the bay to the large tree that grows out of the Soyuz capsule. At the very least, the side with Wavebreak Cliff and the Sapphire Cave doesn't seem to have large bays.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Xeno's scars disappeared so that we can fully appreciate his forehead wrinkles :)
Tumblr media
The rocket that successfully makes it to space is attempt number 7, which is pretty impressive given that there's only 2 known rocket scientists working on the project.
Tumblr media
This reconnaissance satellite is probably based off the first weather satellite, TIROS-1. It was built by NASA to see if satellites could be useful for studying Earth, especially in the case of natural disasters such as hurricanes.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You'll notice the unusual cylindrical shape, and the wiggle lines — this likely means that it's spinning like a top, which helps keeps it stable in orbit. Similarly designed satellites are the Meteosat 1st and 2nd generations, Hiten, Japan's first lunar probe, and Himawari-5.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
At 25,000 km up, it's in a medium Earth orbit. The closest satellites to this radius are the GPS constellation (20,000) and Galileo constellation (23,222), both used for global positioning.
Tumblr media
The KoS's satellite uses radio waves to send down the data, but early recon satellite programs such as CORONA simply dropped film canisters down to Earth in a reentry capsule (and then caught mid-air by a passing airplane).
Tumblr media
We don't know what kind of apparatus Whyman uses to know what's happening on Earth, so we can't know for sure if they can intercept the satellite signal or not. If it /is/ possible, Whyman may not have the tools to decode the signal anyways.
Yellowstone may never have a super-eruption ever again, but smaller volcanic activity is still possible. The Gallatin mountain range is part of the Rockies, northwest of Yellowstone Lake. Due to tectonic shift, the Yellowstone hotspot is moving northeast, towards Gallatin.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
If Yellowstone were to have another super-eruption, the ash cloud would cover most of the US, but the lava would only stay in a small radius of around 64 km. Since the population density is very low in the national park, there may only be a few unrecoverable statues.
Tumblr media
China has a lot of wetlands, which since ~256 BC gotten drained to make the land "more useful", such as for housing. Cities like Wuhan are trying to make artificial wetlands to prevent flooding, since the rainwater now has fewer places to get absorbed.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Without people to keep up the irrigation channels, China's wetlands seem to have returned.
The Great Barrier Reef is off the northeastern coast of Australia, and after several thousand years has recovered and grown larger. In fact, it's the world's largest single structure made by living organisms, and is currently visible from space.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
For the same reason that the desert in South America spread north, the Sahara got wetter. The wobbling tilt of the Earth gives the Sahara phases of more rain every several thousand years, turning it into a forest. Unfortunately, humans may have upset this balance at present.
Tumblr media
The Perseus fleet grows stronger! (The) Medusa doesn't stand a chance.
Tumblr media
Did they expect Kohaku to jump out the window like this? Because that's a lot of excess cable to be freely trailing her without going taut.
Tumblr media
This isn't confirmed as this is a very pixelated photo, but the location on the moon here may be around the Eddington and Seleucus craters. The surrounding craters seem to have been enlarged and crowded together somewhat for the manga's image, but the positions are similar.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Interestingly, the Luna 13 spacecraft landed in a similar area to where the black spot is. Luna 13 was the third craft to land on the moon, and was carrying science equipment for studying the moon's surface.
Communication was lost December 28th 1966 after its batteries died.

Top 7 Best News of Last Week - June 6, 2022
🐀 — Let’s read some good things that happened in the last 7 days around the world
1. Japanese man, 83, becomes oldest person to sail solo non-stop across Pacific
Tumblr media
Yachtsman Kenichi Horie after more than two months at sea, arrived in the waters off the Kii peninsula in western Japan at 2.39am local time.
Having crossed the world’s largest body of water, he had an inspiring message for the world. “Don’t let your dreams just stay as dreams,” he told CNN over satellite phone as he made his way from Shikoku Island to Wakayama. “Have a goal and work towards achieving this and a beautiful life awaits.”
2. Kerala lesbian couple, separated by parents, reunited by high court
Tumblr media
Adhila Nassrin and Fathima Noora had met during their student days in Saudi Arabia and later, they decided to live together, according to the petition filed in the court. But the relatives objected to the relationship.
The Kerala High Court on Tuesday allowed Adhila Nassrin and Fathima Noora, a lesbian couple, to live together on a habeas corpus plea.
3. Utah pets now have a safe place to stay if their owners enter drug, alcohol misuse treatment
Tumblr media
A nonprofit animal shelter has partnered with Utah’s largest addiction program to protect pets for up to three months as their owners undergo treatment. The process starts with an application and documentation of the owner’s current situation, then a brief assessment of the pet — weighing and determining its general condition — along with vaccinations and ensuring the animal is fixed or planned to be fixed.
The pet is then matched with a foster, and the client checks in on their pet once a week via text. Ruff Haven has its fosters pass along photos and videos of the animal so the client can check in on their furry friend while separated.
- This is actually a huge barrier to treatment for people so really cool to see.
4. Water treatment plants would be ready for the removal of nanoplastics.
Tumblr media
The biologically active, slow-flow sand filters of lake water treatment would remove nanoplastics from the raw water very efficiently. This was shown both in the laboratory and in larger, realistic tests and modelling.
The results are now in, and they include some reassuring findings. In a report published today in the Journal of Hazardous Materials, the researchers show that even if untreated water contained considerable quantities of nanoplastics, these particles were retained in sand filters very efficiently during water treatment. Both in laboratory tests and in a larger test facility located directly on the premises of the Zurich Water Works, the biologically active slow sand filter was the most effective at retaining nanoparticles — achieving an efficacy level in the region of 99.9%.
5. Electric Vehicles are measurably reducing global oil demand; by 1.5 million barrels a day
Tumblr media
The new estimates from the research firm BloombergNEF help to show EVs are shedding their status as a niche climate technology.
Total transportation fuel demand was 43.7 million barrels per day last year, the firm said.
The amount EVs have displaced doubled over the last six years, BloombergNEF said.
6. After 3 months and 150 miles lost in the Alaskan winter sled dog Leon found safe in McGrath — Now reunited with pack
Tumblr media
On Tuesday, McGrath locals notified Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race officials that the dog, had been seen visiting a local homestead where food had been left out for him
Early Saturday morning, a McGrath resident was able to catch Leon. Leon was safe, alert and “understandably skinny but seemingly healthy”.
7. Trained rats to be sent into earthquake debris wearing tiny backpacks with microphones

DrV3 Birthplace Headcanons part 2!
Hello everyone! Thank you for all the likes and reblogs on my last post! In this post, I'd like to dig up more anscentral roots of drv3 characters.
Gonta Gokuhara - I had completely forgotten that Gonta's family was rich. Sorry, my fault. But since he did like the jungle(more like forest, because the only jungle in Japan is in Okinawa, and there's no repilites/wolves) . I think he lived in the rich forest in the Toyama Prefecture, which is the setting of the absolutely beautiful japanese movie Wolf Children, Yuki and Ame. If anyone hasn't watched it, I highly recommend it. It is just so heartfelt. I think Gonta could have been born in an affluent neighborhood in Tokyo(probably not Karuizawa, though, because of his plotline and all that) and they were in Toyama for a vacation when he got lost.
Maki Harukawa - This is sort of a shot in the dark, but I'm going to say way up north, like Hokkaido. It's the largest prefecure in Japan, but by no means the most populated. Most of it is either cow pastures or potato and corn farms. With its low population, it might be very ideal for a assasin training facility. A headcanon I have is that Maki was thrown into freezing lakes as part of her training---something that's definitely in Hokkaido. I have no concrete proof, but nowhere else really fits.
Ryoma Hoshi - The former High School refrences say Fukuoka, which is one of the top ten populated cities in Japan. There are also yakuza groups active in Fukuoka, mainly the Kudo-kai and Fukuhaku-kai. So plently of people who might go after him. The only ties to tennis I can find in Fukuoka is the Fukuoka International Women's Cup, which has nothing to do with him, but is pretty interesting netherless.
Angie Yonaga - DRV3 loves to make Angie's past so weird and fictional(like, Polynesian Island! How divine!) However, she's got to be at least part Japanese with her last name. My guess is Okinawa, the small tropical island area of Japan known for pineapples and sugar cane. Sort of fits, but again, canon is so weird I have basically nothing to support this.

Branta Canadensis better known as the Canada goose, the burnt black goose, or the Canadian goose is a species of geese in the waterfowl family Anatidae is native to the arctic and temperate regions of North America, and has been introduced to France, England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland, Finland, Sweden, Denmark, New Zealand, Japan, Chile, Argentina, and the Falkland Islands. The Canadian goose is typically social species which lives in large flock which during migration may exceed 1,000 birds in number. They live in and around water sources such as lagoons, brackish marshes, estuaries, rivers, lakes, swamps, and ponds. Here they feed upon grasses, shrubs, fruit, flowers, seeds, beans, grains, and various aquatic plants such as sea weed. Canadian Geese are preyed upon by coyotes, wolves, bears, feral dogs, alligators, snapping turtles, wolverines, large owls, eagles, goshawks, peregrine falcons, and gryfalcons. Reaching around 30 to 43inches (75 to 110cms) in length, 5 to 24lbs (2.4 to 10.9kgs) in weight, with a 50 to 88 inch (127 to 225cms) long wingspan, the Canadian goose is the largest of the true geese. Canadian geese sport a long neck, webbed hind feet, and a broad body. In terms of coloration they typically sport a black head and neck, white cheeks, white under its chin, and a brown body, however some sport a pepper-spotted or brown neck with brown plumage. These birds often form long lasting monogamous pairs, only finding another partner if there current one passes away. Breeding typically occurs in spring and summer during which time the pair will build a nest out of earth, plant material, and feathers an elevated area near water. Here a female will lay 2 to 9 eggs, which are then incubated until hatching some 24–32 days later. As soon as the goslings hatch, they are immediately capable of walking, swimming, and finding their own food, yet remain by there parents side until they are nearly a year of age. Sometimes groups of Canadian geese will collaboratively raise there young in a crèche. The young learn to fly at around 6 to 9 weeks of age, reach sexual maturity at around 2 years, and may live up to 40 years.

Kari, IDK if this has been asked... but are FuwAruto... so engrossed in doing the do that they're unaware that they may have been transported to a different place from their office via pink menace shenanigans or otherwise.
Say... they're doing the do in the Hiden Intelligence CEO's office and somehow they were transported into the mostly empty DGP lounge...
mostly empty because Ace got inside the lounge at the same time they appeared through pink menace shenanigans or otherwise.
No lol. Tsukasa's too scared to mess with Aruto after a certain threat he made, after he decided to prank him by setting Isamu on an inflatable mattress to float out on Lake Biwa (the largest lake which is in Shiga, close to where Kyoto is).
You can't really blame Aruto for being mad either, the madman took his unconscious boyfriend out on a cross-country joyride only to have him wake up almost naked on the largest lake in Japan in the middle of winter

Shinya: No, only the size of Kasumigaura lake🥺
*If you don't know/remember, in the talk events sometime ago Shinya said he has a coffee maker he doesn't use and when Kyo showed interest Shinya promised to give it to him.
*Also, Biwa Lake is the largest lake in Japan, Kasumigaura is the second largest.

When Justinian was crowned in 527, he named as co-regent his young wife Theodora. She was 15 years his junior and his opposite in nearly every way. She was social, witty, supremely self-confident, and never lost her head in a crisis. He adored her, and she was his most adviser.
Theodora's father died when she was a child, and she took to the stage to earn a living. When she became a Christian, she gave up her former life. In 522, she met Justinian, who was so enamored with her, he changed the law so that actresses could marry into high society. The following year, he married her.
Theodora and Justinian were known for ruling as intellectual and political equals, and Theodora was responsible for much of the reformation of Byzantium. In 528, construction began on the Basilica of San Vitale in Ravenna, Italy, built as an imperial church. The basilica’s mosaic, completed in 548, depicts both the emperor and the empress participating in an imperial procession, signifying her equal role and importance in ruling the empire.
In January 532, two rival political factions in the Empire, the Blues and the Greens, incited a riot during a chariot race in the hippodrome. The riots stemmed from many grievances, some of which had resulted from Justinian and Theodora's own actions.
The rioters set many public buildings on fire, and proclaimed a new emperor, Hypatius, the nephew of former emperor Anastasius I. Unable to control the mob, Justinian and his officials prepared to flee. According to Procopius, at a meeting of the government council, Theodora spoke out against leaving the palace and underlined the significance of someone who died as a ruler instead of living as an exile or in hiding, saying, "royal purple is the noblest shroud".
After quelling the revolt, Theodora and Justinian confronted the destruction of important monuments in Constantinople, including the original Hagia Sophia. The couple rebuilt the basilica, which was rededicated in 537. It was the largest church of the period and later became one of the greatest examples of Byzantine architecture.
When Justinian died, the Mediterranean was once again an imperial lake. But the empire was never really united and began dismantling within two years. Nonetheless, the reign of Justinian and Theodora ranks as the greatest in Byzantine history.
