grian and bigb are soulmates, scar and ren are soulmates

grian, regardless of finding his soulmate, hangs out with scar and tries to help him find his own soulmate (desperately wishing the universe paired them together, desperately wanting an excuse to love scar as much as he does). scar eventually does and they go their separate ways (scar knew his soulmate was ren, saw him take damage, he just didn’t want to believe it wasn’t grian, it had to be grian, they were fated).

grian and scar always find some silly little way to leave their soulmate alone, and find even sillier ways to be together. their hearts were vibrating in their chest when they found the enchanting table. they had a death grip on each other’s hands, neither said a word because if they did, they’d be forced to acknowledge it for what it is.

scar asks grian to kill him, he’s on his last life and he only trusts grian to do it. it’d be just like the desert, scar reasons, it’ll be fine, grian would make it easy, painless, somehow loving. grian refuses, he can’t hurt scar, not again, not after everything. he still has the phantom feeling of scar’s blood on his knuckles, dried under his nails.

grian does end up killing him, via ren and scar dies with a smile on his face, it didn’t even hurt. grian gets reckless after that, nothing else to live for (winning echoes in his mind, as does his soulmate, he doesn’t care, it was scar). he gets himself killed, gets bigb killed and says just the right words to make everyone believe it was an accident (scar would’ve been able to tell, scar taught him that trick after all).
