Calling out to the Hogan’s Heroes fandom!

Maybe you’ve heard about the Papa Bear Awards, maybe not. In a nutshell, those are awards for the best of the past year’s Hogan’s Heroes fanfiction (as in, completed sometime during the past year). Since for about two decades the main archive online was on FFnet, and it was a small archive at that, the fandom came together on a FFnet forum to chat, set fic challenges, share research and headcanons, etc. And each year they organise two rounds of awards:

the first to nominate one work per category (long/short drama/comedy/general, character portrayals, “best story based on a challenge/episode”, etc.) in which writers can’t nominate their own work;

the second for everyone to vote for their favourite(s) (including their own work if they honestly think it deserves it) from the nomination pool, with the final results coming in “medals”, gold, silver and bronze.

(Friendly reminder that absolutely anyone can nominate and vote. All you need is to fill out a template that will be provided and give your first and last name and email address. Watch this space/the tag when January/February rolls around for more details!)

There are stories out there that don’t make the “eligible” list because the organisers can’t find them. I need your help finding them for the 2022 edition.

We (as in, me but also you) will need to get in touch with writers who have completed fics in 2021 but not posted them on either FFnet or AO3. Here’s a bit from the forum post the link to which I’ll post in a reblog, because Tumblr:

Stories from ALL platforms [other than FFnet/AO3] are wanted and welcome to be included on our “eligible stories” list, but we need help from readers and authors to identify and classify them. If you are an author or reader on other platforms, we encourage you to submit works to the eligible stories list! We are eager for your contributions!

Here’s how it will work: Authors may suggest an unlimited number of their own works for inclusion. If authors don’t put their work forward for some reason, readers may propose the inclusion of up to five works. We will then seek the author’s permission. (Anyone can withdraw their stories from PBA consideration – that has always been the case.) There are a few rules to keep in mind to add a story to the eligible stories list:

• The stories must have been marked complete during calendar year 2021. • Links to the stories must be sent to the PBA account on FFnet or at papabearawards@yahoo.com. • We need to know if stories are in response to a challenge or is based on an episode, and we need you to identify which one. • We need to know if stories have any crossover or slash elements. But that’s not all!

This year is going to have something different.

For the first time, we’re going to have “multimedia” categories.

For the moment we’re not sure exactly how it will work. Since it’s the first time, any work published before 31st December 2021 may be considered; but because of the large amount of art, fanvids, memes and even podfics people have made over the last few years, there may be a limit to the number of works artists can submit. The number of entries we receive will determine the number of categories we have. It’s still in development, so stay tuned!

And perhaps help me try to find other HH artists, like @bearsquarearts who seems to have deleted their blog or @221charcoal, who I can’t tag? ooc: Hey all, so I just wanted to make a quick post that I’m still working on icons and banners for this blog. Therefore, starting to reblog rp memes and write threads will take a bit of time. I do love how the icons and banners look though since I tried make it fit with the theme for this account. It’s actually cute how the theme’s name is actually glitch too.

 To give you idea of what icons will look like too here they are. I did use a template which credit is found in the credit part of my blog. 

However, the coloring for these is one I made myself that I’ll probably end uploading to my deviantart account at some point. Anyway, I do have a lot of feels for Data-Riku and Re:coded. It’s a game that is so underappreciated and deserves so much more love. I hope I can interact with people soon on this account but until then you can still find me on my Riku and Kairi accounts.

☆ OC Project 2020: Clothes (Template) ☆

Here's the last piece of my OC Project 2020, the one that gathers all the drawings in the same place! ☆ Now you can see what I was talking about when I said the concept of this project had to do with clothes.

Let me tell you the story:

It all started when I stumbled upon this funny meme template (credit goes to its author). In that moment, I thought it would be fun to try it out with my OCs because I had to think which one of my characters would wear this or that, and it's always interesting to analyze that kind of stuff.

At the beginning, it was going to be a simple thing, in fact, I thought about drawing sketches only. Buuuuuuut here comes the plot twist: I became more and more enthusiastic about the whole thing so I decided to take this opportunity to make super detailed drawings of all my OCs because I always wanted to do so. And also, I could use those drawings to introduce them to you all, so it was a great plan!

That's how this went from "let's fill this template with simple sketches" to "LET'S TURN THIS INTO A BIG PROJECT, YAY!".

I'm super happy I took that decision, for several reasons:

As I said before, I wanted to make detailed drawings of all my OCs because they totally deserve it ♡♡♡

I learned a lot through this process, I was able to improve my skills and developed some new techniques! ☆

I had so much fun and I loved the experience! ♡

How do you start a muse blog? Any tips? I want to start one of my own but have no idea how to even start

sorry  i’m  late  answering  this!  i’m  not  sure  how  much  help  i’ll  be,  but  i’ll  give  it  a  shot!

first  you  have  to  decide,  obviously,  who  your  muse  is  going  to  be.  are  they  an  original  character?  or  are  they  a  canon  character  from  a  movie,  book,  or  tv  series?

if  you’ve  chosen  a  canon  character,  you  should  set  up  your  blog,  make  sure  your  have  some  clear  guidelines  so  people  know  how  to  interact  with  you,  and  what  not  to  do.  you  can  take  a  look  at  other’s  guidelines,  like  mine  if  you  wish,  to  get  an  idea  of  what  you  should  add  in  yours.  once  your  have  your  blog  up  and  your  guidelines  set,  you  should  ask  yourself,  is  there  anything  about  my  character  that  i  write  differently  than  what  the  source  material  says?  if  not,  and  you  stay  pretty  canon  compliant,  that’s  great!  but  if  you  do  have  some  big  changes   (  for  example,  in  my  portrayal  of  rebekah  mikaelson,  i  write  her  as  an  empath  )   it’s  always  a  good  idea  to  have  a  page  where  you  write  out  the  changes  you’ve  made  so  people  can  see.  once  you’ve  done  these  things,  it’s  time  to  start  following  people!  follow  people  in  the  same  fandom,  follow  people  from  other  fandoms  you’re  interested  in  writing  with   (  it’s  also  never  a  bad  idea  to  have  some  crossover  verses  set  up  for  easier  interactions  with  other  fandoms!  )   and  after  you’ve  followed  people  and  they’ve  followed  you  back,  you  should  post  a  starter  call!  or  reblog  some  memes!

if  you’ve  chosen  to  write  an  original  character,  you  should  go  about  setting  up  your  blog  and  guidelines  the  same.  and  then  comes  the  most  important  part  of  having  an  oc:  writing  their  bio!  a  lot  of  people  prefer  that  ocs  have  a  bio  set  up  so  they  know  more  about  your  character  before  they  follow.  it  doesn’t  have  to  be  ten  pages  long  like  mine  is,  lmao,  but  it’s  good  to  have  a  decent  outline  of  who  your  character  is,  what  their  life  is  like,  what  their  personality  is.  i  also  find  it  helpful  to  have  a  stats  page!   (  here  is  the  link  to  mine  so  you  have  a  general  idea  of  what  to  put  in  a  stats  page!  )   now,  this  isn’t  absolutely  necessary,  but  i  think  it’s  good  to  have  one,  especially  if  you  don’t  have  a  complete  bio  right  away!  now,  after  you  have  all  that  set  up,  you  should  go  about  following  people.  if  your  oc  isn’t  associated  with  any  specific  fandom,  you  should  still  follow  people  from  all  the  fandoms  you’re  interested  in   (  this  is  where  verses  come  in  handy  again!  )   and  you  should  also  look  for  other  fandomless  ocs,  and  other  ocs  in  general!  then  it’s  time  to  go  about  posting  starter  calls,  reblogging  memes,  and  liking  other  people’s  starter  calls!  

make  sure  to  read  everyone’s  guidelines  when  you  follow  them  so  you  know  if  it’s  okay  to  like  their  starter  calls  or  send  them  memes.  for  example,  i  do  not  write  starters  for  non  mutuals,  but  anyone  and  everyone  is  welcome  to  send  me  a  meme!

it’s  also  a  good  idea  to  have  your  tags  in  order  before  you  get  started!  i’m  a  chronic  over  -  tagger  because  i  never  want  to  lose  anything,  but  basically,  so  long  as  you  tag  your  partners  in  replies  and  starters,  you  don’t  need  excessive  or  fancy  tags  like  mine.  also,  if  you’re  over  18  and  write  nsfw  situations,  make  sure  you  tag  it  with  nsfw  or  something  easy  for  people  to  blacklist.  you  should  make  sure  to  always  tag  all  the  triggers  you  can  think  of,  such  as  snakes,  blood,  clowns,  spiders,  etc  with  a  simple  tag  like  “___  tw”  or  “___  cw”  so  not  to  trigger  anyone!

it  never  hurts  to  have  a  promo  graphic!  (  here  is  a  link  to  my  self  promo  tag  so  you  can  scroll  through  and  see  some  of  the  different  promos  i’ve  done!  )   if  you  have  a  promo  graphic,  other  roleplayers  can  reblog  it  and  so  people  know  about  you.

always,  always,  always  credit!  if  you  used  a  graphic  template  to  make  your  self  promo,  credit  the  template  creator  in  the  post!  if  you  use  icons  with  a  psd,  credit  who  made  the  psd  in  your  sidebar,  guidelines,  or  both!  if  you  use  an  icon  border,  credit  who  made  it!  you  can  find  a  lot  of  these  resources  free  on  here  or  on  deviantart,  or,  if  you’re  not  broke,  you  can  commission  these  types  of  things  from  content  creators.  but  you  always  need  to  credit  them!  they  all  work  hard  to  provide  the  roleplay  community  with  things,  and  they  deserve  the  credit!  and  always  follow  the  rules  of  the  content  creators  when  you  use  their  stuff!

Valeera Sanguinar is a blood elf spy loyal to the Wrynns. Sometime after surviving the fall of Silvermoon, she fought alongside Varian Wrynn in the gladiator pits and later escaped and helped restore him to the throne. Valeera acted as an advisor and bodyguard to Varian throughout Wrath of the Lich King, Cataclysm, Mists of Pandaria, and Warlords of Draenor. Following Varian’s death on the Broken Shore, Valeera pledged herself to his son and the new High King of the Alliance, Anduin. Valeera also worked alongside the Uncrowned, a secret organization of rogues affiliated with both the Horde and the Alliance, against the Burning Legion.

I have plotted with @lightsblade that Valeera was involved in the negotiations between the blood elves and the Alliance during MoP, and during that time also became sexually and romantically involved with Lady Liadrin. Although her loyalty to the Wrynns and overall emotional reservedness has made things slow going, they are involved still and Valeera makes frequent visits to Quel’Thalas. Now that the Horde and Alliance are at war again, that places Valeera in a fairly precarious position, torn between her new home in Stormwind and the home she fled from as a child.

Current plans:

This blog is still pretty new and I’m still on my first thread with most people, so I’m still getting a feel for the relationships Valeera has with other canon and original characters. I would love to plot more things with people, be that pre-established relationships or a relationship we can build towards in threads.

Desired interactions:

Other Uncrowned / Rogues: Although Valeera primarily works as an independent agent, there’s every possibility that she has made contact with other rogues and maintains a mutually beneficial relationship with them, facilitating the exchange of information that would be difficult or time-consuming for Valeera to obtain herself.

Sin’dorei: As Valeera becomes more involved in activities in Quel’Thalas, she’s likely to be interacting with other sin’dorei, but given that she is closely affiliated with the Alliance, those interactions might not initially be very pleasant. There’s also an opportunity for Valeera to reconnect with other sin’dorei she may have known prior to the Fall of Silvermoon, such as teachers, neighbours, and other orphans.

Alliance leaders: Valeera has been embroiled in Stormwind’s political affairs for a number of years now, meaning she should have some kind of relationship with the other Alliance leaders, particularly those that also live in Stormwind. I’m intrigued by how Valeera and Alliance higher-ups perceive and interact with one another.

Quel’dorei in Stormwind: Valeera’s only connection to her culture while living in Stormwind are the interactions she has with the high elves. While most likely limited and antagonistic, there’s potential for a really interesting dynamic.

Offered interactions:

I think Valeera’s mobility and neutrality offer ample opportunity for interaction. As above, she can be found pretty much anywhere, and unless your character is a demon or annoys her, she’s usually not inclined to attack. 

As above, your character could be a source of information Valeera is seeking or they could be looking to trade information with her, you could catch her lurking somewhere she isn’t supposed to be, or simply meet her as she travels between two points.

If your character, canon or OC, is in a position of power, Valeera might be involved in carrying messages between them and Varian/Anduin.

Apart from being a spy, Valeera is also a hero. If your character is in some kind of trouble they don’t deserve to be in, or if there’s an enemy lurking about, she'll most likely try to help out.

Clarification about few things 

I apologized for the sui**de bait in DM with who I had to. I still regret I did that, I acknowledge it and I’m avoiding to do that ever again. I want to make clear that I wasn’t trying to manipulate because was not for obtain something or control, I felt frustrated at something they posted about social media, I got a mental breakdown, overreacted and reblog that post saying what I said. It was unnecessary and I shouldn’t had that reaction. No one deserve being told what I said.

The people Blue said I harassed, I use to be mutual and talk with that person in DM, we use to mutually talk about su***de, was not su***de baiting. After a fight about Darkiplier (a Markiplier imaginary ego) we start to misunderstanding each other. Overwhelmed I said that we should take a break, I calmed down and when I’m back said that I was harassing her because told me to leave her alone and blocked me, Blue started to say that I sui**de-baited her too (when we actually mutually talked about su**ide) like be mutual would give them the right of stick their nose into this. Link Link Then she named her blog “last day“ Link, I panicked because I felt like was about to kill herself because of the Markiplier discussion and tried to look for help, to contact her but it ended make the “You are harassing me“ worse because she replied to me pissed off because “last day just mean she was about to close that blog" (She have another one still active). And actually hurted me see her turn against me.

“Kary harassed me with many blogs“ I made this blog later just because I didn’t want to spam tea blogs stuff on the other blog, but then I just changed 3-4 times my blog username trying to stop the tons of hate ask I was receiving. Was the same blog, just different usernames. Link So if they blocked me once they just blocked me, "for the fact she makes side-blogs to avoid the  block.“ Blue’s blog is public, I’m not having direct contact, talking (neither directly nor indirectly EXCEPT for stand for myself from their attacks), I discuss Jacksepticeye topics. They just hate that their “gossips“ are questioned. All the hate that came from this situation makes me uncomfortable to post anything because now I feel controlled (one of the consequences of people that has been gaslighted) when I post something they judge me. They criticized few memes accusing me of stolen them, memes are templates that each one personalize, are not stole. 

The “call-out” post

I will not do a line-by-line reply to Blue’s call-out post for 5 reasons:

All I did was just politely criticize their posts without insulting their persona because are known for spread gossips not matching reality claiming that are calling him out for make him “a better person”. Link Link Link Link and this is all their “Kary is harassing me“ is about. It’s not even harassment if I talk about a Jacksepticeye topic without even mention them or talk about them (except rare cases where I had to stand for myself) if I do tag them I’m harassing them, if I don't call me coward and say “I talk behind their back" because I didn’t mention them. Link (Memes are templates, you can’t “steal"them) 

Their callout is just a defensive card to pull out when criticized, just a list of wrong things I’ve done, that Blue invites their followers to upload, with new stuff.  Link So basically is collecting things for discredit me and, as I said above, now I feel uncomfortable posting anything because I don’t know what they may take out of context. When called out about it they got really defensive and claim that they must punish me for getting in their way. Link NOTE: Someone made a Discord account using my blog name, was not me. Accused me (and whoever dare to criticize them) of manipulation, gaslighting and projecting, when gaslighters themselves can do those things Link. Like when Blue clearly said that the children of an anon that criticized them would be better without them (quote: “because then I really pray for your children to have a nice life when they move out“ gaslighting people that they never said that and, quote, “just said I HOPED they weren’t like that” Link Link. Here accused people who criticized them of “trip-guilt” invalidating their feelings claiming that is doing it because it’s a mutual of mine (use my suicide bait at their favour, “It’s im-lmfao’s mutual, so it’s not true, whatever they say is wrong because im-lmfao is a bad person” ) Link. They also projected their own toxicity into others blaming other’s behivoir. Link Link I’m not the only one to think they are toxic. Link Link

It’s their reaction to my opinion to their posts, they attack me personally instead of my arguments, making a pure character assassination Link, picturing me as the supervillain monster that dare to contrapoint their posts (accusing me of “harassing them“). Also accusing me first of projecting and be manipulate so I look like I’m the “problematic one” . Basically Blue have passed to do this to Jacksepticeye (reason why I start to criticize their arguments) to me just because I dare to contrappoint.

Blue-shaded issues

Opinions without insults it’s not hate or harassment, when people don’t like criticism call it hate and harassment. If ANYONE (just happened that Blue are the only ones doing this) accuse Jacksepticeye of steal art from someone, I have the right to say: “Look, that someone stole that art from the artist, it’s not a their original idea, Jack modified it and add a royalty free (small license images) scythe. Why are you accusing him of stole the scythe design? Royalty free pictures can be reused“. In time seem that manipulate information it’s something they do. Link (Blue passive-aggressive response to the previous link) / Link / Link / Link / Link As you can see I took what they said and actally gave context and explanations about the argument without even name them (or “vague-posting“ as Blue call it) because I take Jacksepticeye related topics, not attack, harass or bully their persona as they claimed, while Blue brush me and others off as “stans that whine can’t belive their idol has made a mistake, uwu stannies eyes can’t handle criticism“ and for them it’s more important my reputation also spreading assumptions about me than what I say because makes me not trustworthy so they always win (also accusing me that I’m the one that wants to be always right, and this should make me a manipulator that “wants bring people on my side“. Link Another proof it’s the callout they made about me, it’s just a long list of bad things I did, as petty revenge I dare to contrappoint what they said and as consequence of a troll talking as was me, so I deserve it. After manipulate informations and spread them gets very salty becuse those are their proofs Links, if you try to clarify, they completely deflect from the proofs attacking your persona accusing you of be a stan (in a pejorative meaning), a kissa**, sexists, racist and so on.

Gaslighing is a kind of manipulation for gain control, commonly used by abusers, dictstors and cult leaders, where people make you doubt about your perception, self-worth, convictions and memory accusing you of being manipulative, projecting or accuse you of harassment. This happened many times also through their followers making me believe I’m hateful and toxic just because I bring proofs against what they say Link

The gaslighter also uses social media as a way to accuse and deflect from their own behavior. The gaslighter knows that once something is posted on social media, the information travels quickly. Is also in a position of power on social media by never having to answer questions about the truth of their claims, thus perpetuating the gaslighter’s lie, also because people don’t double check what they read online. The gaslighter may accuse you of being manipulative because they are projecting — one of the most commonly-used defense mechanisms. Link / Link (NOTE ABOUT THE SECOND LINK: I send them the apology post, that contains also the suicide bait screenshot, I was so into defend myself from gaslight that I didn’t take account that could had been triggering. I’m sorry) The gaslighter is cheating: They are planning secret meetings with their lovers, and getting a rush from it. They are invested in keeping up the charade. To keep you off kilter, they start accusing you of cheating. The goal is to keep you so busy defending yourself and being emotionally distraught that you don’t have enough time to pay attention to the gaslighter’s own behavior. By accusing you, the gaslighter has bought themselves time. The gaslighter can go as far as claiming they saw you out with someone — when in fact you were at home waiting for the gaslighter to show up late from work again. The gaslighter has you in a bind — you can’t prove that something never happened. But you try and try to prove to them that you did nothing wrong — though whatever evidence you produce is not good enough for the gaslighter. You become more concerned about being falsely accused than paying attention to the gaslighter’s own behavior. Like the accuse I was on their server but was a troll that used my blog name, Blue asked me to prove it, but given their attitude I don’t wanna give them real life proofs that could identify me and harass who I know, so failed to give proofs for them I’m guilty and made a call out post on me because that is the price “to pay“. When you confront gaslighters about their behavior, or criticize them, they become aggressive often taking advantage of people’s anger and frustration about gaslighter’s behivoir for turn tables. Oftentimes, this involves provoking to get a reaction.

For example, destroying your property, slandering you, turning people against you, or physically attacking you. And then when you respond appropriately to their active or passive aggression, now they can say that youre the aggressor because you are hurting them or that youre unreasonable because of your wild, unacceptable behavior. Link / Link. They often change the subject or counter-attack by telling you that it’s all your fault or you are the one with the problem, for example like when discussing about Jacksepticeye they constantly bring back the suicide-bait I already apologized for or things happened in DMs, because makes that person look bad and they think automatically that person is not trustworthy but they are. When I say that I apologized they say I didn’t, basically they always demand people to apologize but never actually accept them and say that what you did will hunt you forever, so gaslighters got you in a bind granting them something to always keep you in control with manipulating people about it. Link This post (Link) pretty much sums all up. Source / Source / Source

legitimate advice for new phandom blogs

hey !! so i know sometimes posts like ‘RULES FOR THE PHANDOM XD’ are made and they’re all like “numba one. dan is a squishy bean respect this uwu” but this isn’t gonna be like that lol. im just going to list a few actual things that might help people new to the phandom learn about and become integrated into the community! of course these aren’t ‘rules’ and u dont have to listen to any of it ofc,,, im not here to control ur blog, just here to say what people normally do. feel free to rb whether u are a new blog or not, ill appreciate it either way!

1. be interactive! 

here, unique to our corner of timmy darn communism, we have a lot of like virtual traditions that everyone knows. these help you to make friends and also grow ur blog with some new mutuals. here are some examples.

networks: networks, or nets, are a sort of selective gc, usually with a theme or concept that it’s based around, in which all who wish to be part of fill out an application form that determines whether they get in. this is kinda the one with the most work, as u also have to make a group blog and info post, but it’s definitely worth it. i have made my closest friends in nets (such as @phleurnet which i birthed), and a lot of people on here would say the same. if you want to know more or apply, my friend diana runs an update blog @phandomnets! (examples, these are all open btw: x x x)

meetups: meetups are not in real life, don’t worry. a meetup is when someone organizes a specific time at which we all post thing around a certain theme! for instance, on halloween on tuesday, my friend milo hosted a halloween meetup. usually people post selfies but if u are uncomfortable with that, u can post art, music, or anything else related to the theme. a blog called @phandommeetupwatch keeps track of these! (examples, all happening soon/just happened: x x x)

follow forevers: a follow forever is a big celebration post when u reach a follower count milestone, no matter 50 or 5k. u tag all of the blogs you love, and they reblog it to appreciate u! it’s really positive and shows people how their work has paid off. usually people are tagged in alphabetical order, and sometimes people bold their favorites but the stylization is up to u. (recent examples: x x x)

milestone activities: sometimes people do things for their followers when they reach a follower count that involves their followers requesting something! there are many many forms of this type of thing. a common one is blog rates, in which there is a set template and the blogger rates each blog that sends in an ask using the template (info post ex: x; rate ex: x). there are also url edits (x), name/url moodboards (x), and more. u can certainly come up w an idea of ur own, being creative is great!

talk to people: that’s right dude!!! ye!!! u can message a blog u think is cool, or send an ask if u think something they made or are talking about is interesting, or add something sweet in the tags (more on etiquette later) when u rb their post. additionally, sometimes people stir up discourse, and u should participate in it if u want (past discourse examples: x x). u can also send asks when people reblog ask games, which are a list of questions with a theme (new one of mine ex: x). 

2. play around with your blog!

customizing your blog can start giving you what we call a branding, making you distinguished from other bloggers. this can include everything from as simple as using an icon to coding your own about page. 

themes: a blog can be way more appealing if it is aesthetically pleasing. admittedly, i often follow people just because of the smoothness of their mobile theme. a mobile theme is rather easy to construct as u can do it on ur own with a phone. it is how ur blog looks on a phone. although u don’t have to do this, i recommend sticking to two to four colors on ur theme and avoiding stuffing it with a lot of bright things because it can distract from content. additionally, bloggers often make their descriptions short and succinct. (my fav mobiles: x x x.) on a pc, your blog theme can be customized completely on html, meaning there is a lot of freedom. u don’t have to learn to code for this, bc u can find free themes anywhere, just search ‘free tumblr themes’ on google. once again, be creative, but u shouldn’t overload. (my fav pcs: x x x.)

about pages: in order to avoid chunky descriptions but still let people know the key deets about themselves, bloggers create about pages. sometimes these bout pages are uncoded but u can also use html code if u want to. some common things in an about page are interests, maybe personality types/horoscopes/hogwarts houses, original content, and links to other social media. (examples: x x x)

urls: urls are a key part of your blog’s brand. ‘rebranding’ is what people say if they change their url! if u are tired or bored with your url, changing it is an opportunity to change your theme and other parts of ur blog as well. (url change ex: x). 

saved urls: saved urls are basically when bloggers hoard sideblogs in order to reserve the urls used for them. if you ever encounter a blank blog that has ‘saved’ as its title, that’s probably it. sometimes people like to give away their urls, either as a constant thing (ex: x) or by doing a url giveaway (x). either way, it’s a good opportunity to change it up!

tags: in order to keep their blog cleancut and organized, a lot of bloggers have special tags for certain people, certain topics, and/or certain types of media. many people in the phandom particularly have tags for dan and phil that match (strawberries and cream, lune and sole, etc). if they have many of these tags, there can be a page for their tags on their blog. this page can be coded with special html or just a regular tumblr page, it doesn’t really matter. but it’s very useful for those who visit your blog, and makes it easy for u to navigate older posts as well! (examples: x x x)

3. learn to make og content!

producing original content helps you establish what your strengths are and why people should follow you. it also allows u to contribute to the fanbase, and gives u a chance of being noticed by dnp! and the validation is lovely. there are many options if u want to make something. 

gifs: gifs are an ART here in the phandom, and its mechanisms still perplex me to this day bc ive never tried it. u probably already know what a gif is, but if not, its essentially a short animation made in photoshop that repeats. gifmakers are often distinguished by a unique coloring (example gifmakers: x x x), such as my friend emily’s smooth dark blue tint (x). it can be a long process to learn how to gif but it is very rewarding in the end, from what i’ve heard. (tutorials: x x)

art: there is a very wide range of phanartists, all with such talents, either digital or traditional, that you can draw inspirations from for your own work. you can make cartoons, comics, realism, abstract, nsfw even, or any mix (or none) of the former. artists on tumblr definitely deserve more attention than they get here on tumblr, so be sure to show appreciation towards them! (my fav artists: x x x)

edits: edits are the Graphic Designs of our community and are usually very aesthetically pleasing. they can be centered around a certain event, like a video or something dnp made, or just for fun. the more practice you get making them, the more dexterous u’ll become. they can be a great tool if u like the design aspect of art but don’t want to actually draw. (edit makers: x x)

icons: icons are just the little profile picture that u can insert for ur blog. it’s really easy and fun to make them, kind of like a lazy version of edits. you can make them using photoshop or an app like picsart or medibang, and it doesn’t take a lot of time. more on how to use icons in section 4. (examples: x x x) (my lil tutorial: x)

moodboards: moodboards are nine pictures arranged 3 by 3 that have a certain color scheme. it’s kind of like a collage except the photo feature here separates the pictures for u. there are a lot of innovative moodboard makers that stun me w how pretty it looks or how they arrange the pics. moodboards are also an easy and fun option! (moodboard tags: x x x)

textposts: this is by far the easiest and more common form of content u will find. it’s just writing about dnp in a textpost! if a textpost isn’t very serious, people also call it a meme or shitpost. shitposting is defs on the rise here so its a good business to get into. it’s also a great outlet for ur emotions or personal connections to what dnp do! (example talk tags: x x x)

fics: by far the most famous media to come out of here, phanfiction is a popular form of phan indulgence. u have probably heard of the most scarring ones (list: x), but there is actually a really vast range of it, not just creepy smut! some other genres are fluff, angst, and slow burns. u will discover that, despite the sterotype, not all fanfiction is bad. you can find lovely fics on @phanfictioncatalogue by genre, au, or topic. and, if u need help writing something, many writers would love to help. (a few well-known fics: x x x x x)

4. tumblr etiquette!

i know tumblr might seem like a simple social media (or perhaps not after u’ve read all the above?) but there’s a lot of things that u just....u just don’t do. it’s sort of like virtual manners, and if u don’t follow them, then it’s unlikely that people will like ur blog. once again, this is by no means me forcing u to run ur blog a certain way. it just happens that the types of ppl who break these rules are who we mock in gcs :////////. so yea, here’s some advice.

credits: if u decide to use someone’s art, edit, gif, or icon on the theme of ur blog, check what they require of u before u use it. most content creators strongly ask for credit in the description of ur blog, either by link or like ‘icon/header/art by ____’. it is just a common courtesy to the person who spent time on that, and if u think credit will ruin the aesthetic of ur blog, a) u probably don’t have an aesthetic in the first place and b) learn to appreciate art, binch. 

anonymity: anon asks can be very powerful either negatively or positively depending on how u yield them, so make sure that u are careful with what u send. compliments are always welcome and criticism as well, but blatant rudeness or hate will do nothing. u will only make someone feel bad about themselves and it will not accomplish anything. also, u face the threat of all their friends turning u into a meme. 

sensitivity: a lot of people here are way too easily offended by harmless jokes, a common example in the phandom being when we insult dnp affectionately and people take it way too much to heart. please don’t start drama over something w no real meaning. however, there are times when it is indeed necessary. if u want to criticise a blogger, be respectful of them simultaneously. by all means, if u spot someone being racist, homophobic, transphobic, misogynist, or the like, feel free to call them out on it. but beforehand, make sure that u have done ur research and are educated on the topic, or u could turn out to be blatantly wrong. 

adding to posts: everyone makes this mistake when they start out here and that’s totally okay, but adding to every post u reblog is incredibly bothersome. a rule of thumb would be don’t add anything unless what u say will actually improve the post significantly. if ur additions are along the lines of ‘LOL’ or ‘i relate!!!!’ or ‘philly is a smol bean XD’, learn to use the tags for heaven’s sake. they’re there for not only organization but also for commenting. some exceptions, though, would be if u are mentioned in the post or the op is your close friend. 

respecting privacy: this should already be obvious to u, but respect dan and phil’s boundaries. do not tag them or their main tags (#daniel howell, #danisnotonfire, #amazingphil), in any phanfics, phanart (like specifically with them as a romantic ship), or phan edits. do not talk to their family members, expose their personal info like address or phone number, and do consider that they are real people just like u. we may make things based around phan, but it is kept in a community for us and not for dan and phil’s eyes. this is very important.

mutuals: someone who you follow and who follows you; usually who u interact with most

rb: shortening for ‘reblog’

discourse: when theres is intense discussion of a certain topic, sometimes phan-related sometimes not, sometimes serious and sometimes silly

branding: the word ‘branding’ kinda started as a joke, but it’s generally what we use to call what someone’s blog reminds them of, whether it be a certain color or a discussion topic; my branding, if u asked a mutual, would probably be impressionism, tea, and baguettes (dont ask ab that one)

html: a simple type of coding used for designing websites! u can learn basic html here or here, it’s way easier and funner than it looks

dnp: dan and phil; we also say ‘deppy’, ‘dip and pip’, ‘the boys’, ‘the rats’, and more

coloring: basically the stylization of a gif, shown through filters, textures, contrast, brightness, etc. 

talk tag: a tag in which all of the textposts that a person makes are sorted into

phanfiction terms

smut: porn fic :/ 

fluff: just what it sounds like, a type of fic that usually has a lot of soft stuff like cuddling, flirting, and looooove

angst: a fic with a lot of drama, usually sad or very emotional

slow burn: a fic where a pairing, in this case phan, slowly falls in love

au: stands for ‘alternate universe’, a fic in which dan and phil are written not as youtubers but in a completely different scenario (ie. bad boy and new guy in high school, university students, space exhibition, anything u can dream up really)

anon: short for ‘anonymous’

op: short for ‘original poster’, aka who made the post

Elektra Natchios is: the most beautiful woman in the world, the best assassin in the world, and the most dangerous woman on the planet. Ex-girlfriend of Daredevil but don’t call her that. She’d like to stand on her own accomplishments pls. Like being so dangerous not even the stars are safe in the sky, and being a general pain in the ass to the Hand wherever she goes. Former high priestess of the hand, former member of the chaste, all around bad ass. 

Points of interest:

MASTER MARTIAL ARTIST: Most dangerous woman in the world. Best assassin on the planet. Can and will rip your heart from your chest and show it to you. 

WEAPONS MASTER: Can kill you with straw probably. Skilled in Japanese weaponry, but she can use anything else. Hasn’t missed a shot from a sniper riffle in 5 years when the changed and she killed someone by shooting them through the wrong eye. 

ASSASSIN: Elektra’s real picky though. She wont’ kill just anyone. She’s got standards. Bad people. Dictators. Kingpin’s. Criminals. No one she has ever killed has been innocent. So she’s not going to show up to kill your character if they’re a hero or even just like an ordinary person. SHE’S GOT STANDARDS. 

LOVER: Elektra, is a deeply emotional deeply connected person. Problem is that’s only like with two people maybe three. BUT if you can get past her layers and burrow your way into her heart she’ll be deeply loyal. And love you forever.

MCU v: Black Sky: idk what the fuck is going on with defenders or what a black sky even is. So Elektra is.... playing double agent. The Hand thinks she’s on their side but really she’s just trying to help out the Defenders bc fuck the hand. 

616 V: She seeks a destiny of her own:  Elektra is starting her own version of the Chaste. A kinder, gentler, better, more kick ass Chaste. She collecting an elite group of warriors she can trust to fight the Hand with her. She’s also looking to expand her network of allies. After all the Hand is everywhere it’ll take more than 7 old guys (which is honestly just one old guy now) on a mountain top to beat the Hand. 

(616 AU) v: hold my heart in your hands & (MCU AU) v: light & shadow:  Okay in the 616 verse Elektra is usually fighting along side Danny, whom she is married too. In he MCU she’s also fighting along Danny though they aren’t married in that one. This is an open verse if you want to play with me & @untolikeiron​ just let us know!

E1Laurel: A heroine and recovery alcohol and addict who delivers justice both in the light of day and under the cover of night. During the day she is a lawyer who fights for the people who can't fight themselves and during the night she is known as The Black Canary. Sometimes reckless she will fight for everything she has for anyone she believes has been slighted.

E2Laurel: Hailing from Earth 2, Laurel was sent her by Zoom to lead his meta-human army in the takeover of this Earth. After failing and being captured she agreed to work for Prometheus after he rescued her. Her loyalty is absolute to the people she believes earns and it survival is her goal. Those who can't survive in this harsh world deserve none of her sympathy.

E1Laurel: Superhero that’s recently back from the dead and trying to find her place in the world and on her team. Has meta powers but depending on the verse may or may not have been activated. Reckless and loving, she will do anything for the people she loves.

E1Laurel: Laurel has returned from the dead and is still struggling to adjust with everything that has changed and happened to her. Still she is committed to getting justice both inside and outside of a mask as she figures out what else she wants from her life. 

E2Laurel: After being saved from the Lian Yu explosion Siren is working with a mysterious group to help bring Star City and Team Arrow to it’s knees.

E1Laurel: You can usually find Laurel either in the court room or with Team Arrow trying to protect Star City. She does on occasion visit her mother in Central City and travels when help is needed by other heroes.

E2Laurel: She is currently hiding out in Star City while she takes down the city.
