In all seriousness, I had a mentally ugly April and so I want to thank the early May nuke that was Meet The Grahams blowing up my Twitter feed for getting me back on track. Sometimes you gotta pop out and hyperfixate on something really fucking different to get your brain back on track, which it did. The final draft of the next chapter is ready and waiting, and now I just need to get rid of all the goddamn rust and dust clogging up my arting gears.

I've done and posted multiple iterations of these designs through the years and they're buried in the archives but at some point I have to commit. That point is right now. I have to commit because these are going to be my visual guides for the next act of the story. Man, I hope I can pull this off. I want Din's look to be red for Aq Vetina and made up of scraps while he continues on his quest to rebuild himself. And I want Luke to have SOME color of some fucking kind and also I got tired of capes and thought the contrast to Din would be fun.

Grogu has some tweaks too but I need to stop dawdling and start thumbnailing for the chapter that is waitingwaitingwaiting for launch day so his little "design sheet" will come later. And once the chapter goes live, I'll spend the rest of the summer getting the pop-up shop up and running for pre-orders. Hopefully. Definitely. For sure.

I feel like this has been answered before, but how fast is space travel in runaway to the stars? Do things like FTL tech exist?

The only FTL travel is via the wormhole gate network. Gates within a certain range can connect to each other, and higher powered hub gates (usually positioned outside of systems to minimize damage from potential collapse) can connect over longer distances and also "throw" wormholes into new regions of space without a gate connection, which is usually only done to construct new gates. All ships travel STL, warp drive does not exist. Information travels via lasers to wormhole switchboards, which are sometimes positioned closer to inhabited areas because the collapse risk is less catastrophic, but communications lag is a persistent issue.

23 years ago, the burgeoning Galactic Empire was stopped before it could fully start. Jedi hero Anakin Skywalker struck down the Sith Lord Sidious and was tragically slain by the Senate Guard before the situation could be understood. The Clone War was ended, and although the Republic did not survive intact, nothing worse rose to take its place. Which is... always how it went, isn't it? At the 23rd anniversary of the conclusion of the war, a sudden Disturbance in the Force raises questions about Galactic history as they know it, and combined with Luke suddenly manifesting Force abilities no one ever expected, there's really only one thing for the Skywalker family to do: undertake a zany space adventure with a bunch of other misfit Jedi to try and get to the bottom of this situation.

I've been very busy the past couple of days so i haven't had time to work on any new artwork but luckily i have some sprites like these saved up to use if i don't have anything new to post

The novelisation of the Phantom Menace has made me so incredibly sad, where little Anakin sees an injured Tusken and decides to disobey Watto to sit by the Raider until he wakes up. Anakin has such a deep, loving heart that he was willing to suffer the consequences of disobedience to make sure a Tusken Raider would be safe, a being he was taught all his life were brutal and cruel. And in this chapter, Anakin admits that the only thing that truly scares him, is of losing his mother. That juxtaposition, that note of I will care for this creature to I fear losing my mother, put so much more weight onto AOTC, and of Anakin's rage. He broke, and he lost himself to his rage. When faced with what he did, he rages against the world and his actions, before breaking down into further sobs at the loss of his mother and the actions he made. His worst fear was realised, and he became the monster that everyone claimed the Tuskens to be.

It'll be interesting to read the AOTC novelisation, to see if this scene is ever called back to. I just find it interesting, and further showcases the depths of Anakin's feelings and compassion, as well as the pitfalls that such strong emotions come with. For if you feel compassion and love as deeply as Anakin does, so will you feel the destructive nature of all of your rage. And that, that is Anakin's biggest weakness; he feels too strongly to ever truly control it.
