The Santa Summit -
What a blast! I loved it! It was so silly and so romantic and fun. The Niall cameo! The driver! The iconic inflatable tree!!!! This movie had so much going for it. I loved all of the romances. I loved all of the connections everyone was making with each other not realizing who they were talking to. It was great. Truly such a fun time.
What'd you think of it? Any gif requests?

Nike CEO John Donahoe weighs in on Desantis, Disney feud
"As a political battle rages between Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and Disney, Nike CEO John Donahoe said it's important for corporations to choose their battles, but fight for the values integral to their brands.
During a sit-down interview at the inaugural CNBC CEO Council Summit in Santa Barbara, California, Monday evening, CNBC's Sara Eisen touched on the DeSantis controversy and asked Donahoe if he was worried Nike would become a target.
"Aren't you worried that if Ron DeSantis becomes president, he's going to go after you as a woke corporation?" Eisen asked Donahoe about the expected Republican presidential contender.
In response, Donahoe said companies don't need to weigh in on every political kerfuffle but should be a loud voice when their brand's values are under attack.
"I think Bob's doing a great job at this," Donahoe said of Disney CEO Bob Iger.
"If it's core to who you are and your values, then no, you stand up for your values," he said. "If it's commenting on some political issue that's in someone else's backyard, then we may have that personal feeling, but we don't comment on it with our brand and publicly."
Iger wasn't leading Disney when, in February 2022, he publicly slammed Florida Republicans' controversial bill limiting classroom discussion of sexual orientation, which he and other critics have dubbed "Don't Say Gay."
His tweet the bill "will put vulnerable, young LGBTQ people in jeopardy" put more pressure on Disney's CEO at the time, Bob Chapek, to break his silence about the legislation.
After Disney came out against the bill, DeSantis and his allies targeted the Orlando-area special tax district that has allowed Walt Disney World to essentially self-govern its operations for decades. The clash has gone on for more than a year, and it has continued even after Iger returned as CEO in November following Chapek's ouster.
Donahoe pointed to three values that are integral to Nike's brand: racial and social justice, sustainability and youth involvement in sports, particularly for young girls.
When it comes to racial and social justice, Donahoe said Nike built its brand in partnership with some of the most iconic Black and brown athletes in history, such as Michael Jordan, Serena Williams and LeBron James.
"In addition, our core consumer for the Nike brand, the Jordan Brand, the converse brand, are urban Black and brown communities — that's where sneaker culture started," Donahoe explained. "And so, we listen to our athletes and to our consumer about what they care about and they care about racial and social justice and so we view that as core to who we are, core to our identity … so it gives us a little more courage to speak out."
The company has focused on youth involvement in sports as young girls are dropping out of athletics at "an alarming rate," Donahoe said."

Introduction
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Y/n became the youngest Grammy reciepient in 2013 at age 15 for the categories of Best Pop Vocal Album for her album "Speak Now", Song of the year for her smash hit "Mean" and the Album of the year award for her album "Speak Now". But how did she managed it all that?
Y/N Y/L/N was born in 1997 in Sinaloa, México in a little town, being the youngest child of four sisters, her mother and sisters describe her always as the "smart one" while the singer describes her sisters as "the pretty ones". Y/n learn to read and write at age 4 and before that she already could play the keyboard.
Y/n describes her first experience with the instrument as forced since she asked the Santa Claus on the mall "a princess that dance piano" but instead got a keyboard for her 4th birthday, she started playing it because she didn't want make her dad feel bad. She said that "i often think that at age 4 i was thinking very foward for my age, i was always worried about my appareance, about how other 4 years old kid were kinda dumb and about money, especially since there were not a lot of it" So she start playing with and by age 5 she was giving concerts for her family. At age 10 she write her first song and her ambition grew with it. She wanted to be a songwriter, at age 12 she begged her mom to let her summit a demo via Email, saving almost all of her (and her sisters) lunch money she records her first demo and send it to as much of the discography labels in her country. Recieving a few responses with very dissapointing offers, she almost gave up, until her aunt invited her to the U.S so she could try her chances in Los Angeles, of course there were some bumps; like not knowing english. Y/n, with a new goal, ask for private lessons and school and her teachers gave her all the support. So with age 13, Y/n Y/L travels to Los Angeles, playing in cafes, recording a demo in english and knocking all the doors that she could, a label finds her, a pretty new label who was wiling to take the risk with her.
In 2011 she released her first album studio "Young" and gaining success quickly for her song " A Place in This World" a young and fresh album that talks about the strugles of finding identity and being scared of not being treated seriously. After all she was only 13.
At age 14 Y/n was already fluent in the english lenguage but her accent and cute young face was eye catching for the public, just like her charismatic and witty actitude. She released her second album "Fearless" where she talks about love for the first time, despite not being in love before; "Since i spent a lot of time with my aunt, i became a Romance fan, books, movies, telenovelas, everything, i wrote about those kind of love"
In 2012 she released her self writed album "Speak Now" during her tour "Fearless" making a genre change from her country/acoustic sound to a more pop sound. As a response after critics acused her of not writing her down songs. Earning her a Grammy in 2013.
In 2013 she speaks about the rumors about her album Red being about Nick Jonas, "I make my songs as a way to put the words on my head in art, i want my fans to relate to my words and not think about my boyfriends or my exes"
In 2014 she released her album Home, where she talks about her family, the homesick feeling of being on the road, and of course, breakup and love.
After being rumoured to be dating the actor Grant Gustin in 2014 she released her album "Red" an album where she stepped even more closer to the Pop Genre, giving us some of her more iconic songs like "I knew you were trouble" and "We are never ever getting back together"
In 2015 after her succesful album she decided to kick her world tour "Red Tour" and enjoy dome vacation with her family in Mexico were she met Louis Tomlinson from One Direction, and after a rumoured relationship in 2016 she writes the album "1997".
"1997 was a response after not winning a Grammy for my album Red", the singer said "I felt that i was doing something wrong, of course an award is not everything, I don't make music for that but for me, i need something to take my cue for somewhere, so i can keep evolving and moving. 1997 was born after i went to sleep that night that Red lost, i knew a wanted something retro, and i took it as a sign to move completely on to pop music, it was the first time i get completely involved in the producing of an album to, so i felt that this was very me"
The album also talks about her moving to New York with her older sister. The single "Shake it off" a catchy dance pop song that talks about brushing the critics away top no.1 on the list of Billboard Hot 100 being only rival to her second single "Blank Space" a satira of the character the media create about her, a serial dater who writes songs about her exes and becomes crazy after they leave her.
This year she's already taking the lead, with her album being the most selling album of the year so far, toping all list, being the most followed person on Instagram and having 14 nominations in the Billboard Music Awards.
We wished the best of lucks to Y/n!
‐----------------------------------
This is the introduction for the reader, i decided to make her mexican since part of her indentity is that she doesn't feel that she belongs in the US, so making her mexican was decided because, one; it was easier for me to write since i'm Mexican, two; as explained in the article she started in country and since country and mexican Banda are similar i felt it make sense that the reader started with something familiar (that's why she is from the north of Mexico)
Another thing that i wanted to talk about is: this whole part is about how people see y/n, and nothing is what it seems, the public knows what they want to believe and what the artist/label/company wants you to see, so although this was an "introduction" is an introduction of her reputation and not to her real personality.
Thank you for reading!

With the snow-covered Rockies shining brightly in the distance, Amtrak’s Southwest Chief curves around the iconic Wootton Ranch. This was the one-time home of Richens “Uncle Dick” Wootton, who built a 27-mile toll road over Raton Pass shortly after the Civil War. At this site, his ranch acted as a toll booth and stagecoach stop, where passengers could get a meal. Tolls were $1.50 for a wagon, $0.25 for a horseman, and Native Americans were allowed to use the road free of charge. In 1878, Wootton sold the right of way to the Santa Fe, who quickly laid its tracks over the route, which used switchbacks near the summit until a tunnel could be bored. The 1908 completion of the Belen Cutoff resulted in most transcontinental freight being transferred to that route, reducing traffic over Raton Pass to mostly locals and passenger trains. The innovation of intermodal trains added a few of these relatively light consists to the line in the 1960’s. May 14, 1985

Ecliptic Brewing teams up with Russian River Brewing Company to release Belgian-Style Hoppy Golden Ale
Press Release
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Portland, Oregon. Earth. (September 26, 2019)- Ecliptic Brewing and Santa Rosa’s Russian River Brewing Company are working together to create a collaboration beer: Belgian-Style Hoppy Golden Ale. This is the fifth and final Cosmic Collaboration release in Ecliptic’s “5 Years/5 Beers” series, which celebrates Ecliptic’s fifth anniversary.
John Harris, Ecliptic Brewing Owner and Brewmaster, has long admired Russian River’s husband and wife owners, Vinnie and Natalie Cilurzo. “Russian River makes outstanding beers and is known for both hoppy and Belgian-influenced beers”, says Harris. “It was a real treat to be able to work with Brewmaster Vinnie on this style of beer in particular. We’re honored to be able to include them in our five-year celebration.”
Brewed with pale and pilsner malts, the Belgian-Style Hoppy Golden Ale will also feature both American and European hops in new and old varieties. Imperial Workhorse Yeast will bring a spicy character to this full-bodied ale, and dry hopping at cooler temperatures will help create bright aromatics.
A Cosmic Beer Dinner with Harris and Vinnie Cilurzo for the release of the Belgian-Style Hoppy Golden Ale is planned at Ecliptic’s Restaurant on October 9th at 6pm. Attendees will enjoy three courses, plus shared appetizers, from Ecliptic Brewing Chef Michael Molitor, along with six beer pairings from each of the breweries and signed bottles of the collaboration to take home. Tickets are available to purchase here for $60. The Belgian-Style Hoppy Golden Ale will also be released in both draft and 500ml bottles throughout Ecliptic Brewing’s distribution network.
About Ecliptic + Russian River Belgian-Style Hoppy Golden Ale
In celebration of Ecliptic Brewing’s fifth year of passage through this awesome star system we call home, they are teaming up with five esteemed breweries to brew five beers of cosmic significance. Space can feel a bit lonely, so here’s to making the journey with friends! Brewed with Russian River Owners and Brewmasters Vinnie and Natalie Cilurzo.
ABV 8.5% IBU 32

Hey @mod ara i read your post about the G20 and as an argentinian in ushuaia i'm kinda lost... could you please explain what you meant? You don't have to, tho, of course.
Yeah. Idk if you watched the show of the G20 summit Gala at the Colon last night, but it's about that. I dont know if all tv news channels streamed it but TN did.
The show was this: there were different "acts"/dance numbers for the different regions of the country, and most of them with the exception of North ("la gente") and Center ("cultura") had nature-related names. For example, Patagonia was "naturaleza salvaje" ("wild nature"), cuyo was "naturaleza y producción" ("nature and industry/production"), litoral was "pure nature", and so on.
My problem was with the Center (usually considered Bs As, Santa Fe, and Cordoba) act: despite fact that all the acts were about showcasting our culture, for some reason this is the one that gets called... Culture, and the presentation exclusively showed images of Buenos Aires: there were like two seconds of fields, a blink-and-you-missed-it cameo of Mar del Plata and the rest was just the city of Buenos Aires. Hello?? There's a ton more of things. Santa Fe is one of the richest provinces and Cordoba has 18395 different beautiful landscapes they could've shown. But like...the highway was more important, 30 shots of the obelisk were more necessary than one (1) pic of idk, Carlos Paz? Rosario? El Uritorco at least???
Then came the dance numbers: first they did hip-hop, not an argentinian rythm/music genre at all, not even one that's popular here (not like, say, trap music (every porteñe and their mom is a dj)), and they used an all-white crew, with a white rapper, to make matters worse. They completely appropriated it.
And after that there was the tango number: mora godoy was there but you know who wasn't? Any afro-argentinian. Nobody talks about it, but tango is black music. All the dancers were, again, white. No acknowledgment at all to the people thanks to whom we have one of the most "iconic" symbols of our country.
This was a real pity, because other than that (while a little boring for such an event), the rest of the acts weren't bad, not like that. They even had racially accurate dancers! Didn't you see the cute little beans dancing chamame in the Litoral act? My heart was melting.
They specifically erased black people. There is something to say about how the only group erased was that of afro argentinians. ~mod ara
