me when i think im fighting the powerful external threat but then it turns out im the powerful external threat to everyone else
#they were right but not in the way they thought and never so straightforwardly lol#titans didnt end inner dispute in the island any more than the existence of paradis stopped war among marley and the rest of the world#after 100 years paradis did get made into this threat that “united the world” but that was never the point#marley sought to both gather other countries under its own interests (namely pillaging the island and capturing the founding titan)#and to Also dissuade other countries from attacking Them as anti-titan technology improved and threatened their power#honestly thats the thing that bothers me abt shingeki no kyojins worldbuilding and writing#the struggle for power clearly governs every relationship and sequence of events in the story#yet the text seems to only elaborate on this cycle of violence in terms of race or ideology or history#which are certainly factors that must be considered#but the struggle for dominance and power is the base of it all#rewatching shingeki no kyojin#mumbling yuzu
