aaah thank you so much for ur elaboration. that makes a lot of sense; the idea that rape/sexual assault is so traumatising that it becomes impossible to recover, the rest of ur life is ruined to the point that death is a mercy. thank u for taking the time <3
your welcome! I mean to write about this is a more detailed effective way soon.
It was hard to imagine recovery when all narratives about women who have been abused was about how fucked up and broken we are so reading King Kong Theory helped me to retain my anger at what happened to me but not turn it inward and instead believe I could be "normal" or that I always was normal and not permanently stained.
I also need friends to stop messaging me saying "but actually even though the bear could kill us so could the man!" because it's just insane to even be imagining violent hypothetical scenarios in which there really is no viable or better option because both are gruesome and slow deaths. it's so unhealthy and its completely related to increasingly devastating news story about violence against women like the model who was murdered and put in a fucking blender by her husband and the french woman who was drugged raped by 100 men by her husband. this hypothetical bear scenario isn't doing anything to help, but is a symptom of a crisis we are in as women. I really feel like things are reaching a fever pitch and with the Trad Cath bitches like Red Scare and alt right and watered down version of feminism that liberals are spreading I feel increasingly radicalised and pulled to keep talking about this.
