Not me as somebody who crochets on the reg getting criticisms/unwanted comments about everything I make:

"You always use the same colors" :/

Me: can't help it I'm a thalassophile and therefore I must always use beige, khaki, turquoise, teal, aqua blues, whites of all shades. Let the coastal creations commence!

"Nice bag. You know, that looks perfect to use only for holidays like Easter"

Me: ...my coastal bag is to be used every time I feel like it. What are you talking about.

"Those oceanic colors don't match with your current outfit so don't use it."

Me: it's not about what looks nice TO YOU but what feels right and fun to use FOR ME.

"Why don't you add (whatever) to your creation. It'd look great if you add (whatever). And, how about next time, you actually use a leather bag bottom instead?"

Me: I don't want to.

"You sure can't take a comment or a slight criticism. Why are you like this?" :/

Me: you sure can't mind your business.

"Why are you doing 2 projects at once. Finish one and start the other I don't get it."

Me: oh you sweet summer child ohohoho...you just don't understand the mind of a crocheter do ya?

"You know, if you make something for somebody it sure won't be coastal themed or whatever. You have to try something different."

Me: who said I'm making anyone ANYTHING? They don't want to pay the correct price for a hand-made creation so that won't be happening. Anyway, ONTO THE COASTAL THEMED SCARF!

#self #fantasy costume #If I had the money for a custom tailored fantasy-ish victorian-ish suit instead of piecing together random thrift store items with like walm #rt halloween costume type jackets and stuff..#unstoppable.....#I would actually lean more straight up historical with my wardrobe it's just that everything I own basically is thrifted aside from a very #small portion of things (like usually socks for example I get from ebay. wigs from ebay. things that it's hard to find in thrift stores. etc #) and I rarely ever find stuff like that at the bins. Your closest bet is like. hopeing that the week you come in just so happens to also be #a week that a church costume department recently donated a bunch of old stuff. but I just haven't really had much luck finding like fancy ve #sts and suit coats and cloaks or like tunics and etc. etc.#Styles like mori kei or cult party kei are pretty accessible and easy for places like the bins (where youre usually digging through piles of #curtains and fabric scraps and doilies anyway). but finding like.. a straight up tudor england costume or something is . VERY rare #Sometimes you do find halloween costumes. Or like. stuff that's clearly like cheap 'Goth' stuff from shein or aliexpress that someone has do #nated and they can be a LITTLE okay in terms of usable for costumes. But you rarely find actual good quality stuff. obviously because like #real very good quality historical costumes are expensive and most people aren't just like 'yeah dump it off to goodwill' lol #In an ideal world though I would have fancy top hats and neck ruffles and stuff .. know this ghhjbhj #Lack of that will not stop me from taking picturesin basically the same outfit 6000 times though. My one single silky black vest and #one of the two solitary ruffly neck shirts I have every been able to find.#Pointy-ish little boots that I put with everything even thogugh they look terrible up close because they're literally like over 10 yrs old #I bought them so long ago and the black fake leather lining is like peeling off of the outside #ANYWAY #he's back again... the same little generic like elf vampire ruffle shirt with vest look.. might as well be the same guy #I support him and his dumbass disintegrating shoes anyway

Emotional regulation 🅱️lease

#spent my day editing not one not two but THREE things I had written and received feedback and critique on #and most of it was fair but like fuck and when I called home my mom yelled at me #like it’s hard not to be self critical when literally everything in my life is critical of me #and I cut my hand doing the dishes washing my kitchen knife #and I know my students are filling out surveys and I know I’m gonna get the criticism about being slow at grading that I always do #and I’m worried they’re gonna be unhappy at my internship that I haven’t finished labeling the wardrobe and I don’t think I can #like the nature of grad school is that you are being shaped and given constructive criticism #but like would it kill someone to compliment me on something that isn’t how well I rise to challenges #a lot of it is me rushing papers and getting scores that reflect this but #this is when usually I would post art or fic and then get positive validation that way but I don’t have time to draw so #I need to stop listening to ROME I can’t listen to him after 10 pm it makes me too depressed #also like I think I’m depressed again ✌️

#art #traditional art #watercolour #oc art #ocs #oc group: unsorted #oc: siren #im gonna be honest i still havent figured out how to draw sheer fabric. but i'll keep trying #ALSO i tried out a new thing where like #wait okay some context #so ive always had trouble with white in my watercolour doodles because it always looked REALLY flat compared to anything else #and i realized it was because the coloured in parts have the texture and tonal variation from the watercolour pigment to give it dimension #while the white of the paper didnt have anything except my beloved cold press texture #SOMETIMES to get around this with like ocs with white hair ive tried like #putting little strands of a light colour around #or like with my oc snoman since she's made of snow i always use ultramarine shading on her skin even if nothing else is shaded #and that kinda works for snoman cause shes a goddess thing and is otherworldly BUT i didnt like either of those methods for like #anything else #BUT i thought maybe. maybe i can just use REALLY REALLY REALLY light watercolour to make all the white things #(like sirens wings and his usual choice of wardrobe) a sort of off white?#maybe that will bring back some of the lost dimensionality? i dunno im trying it out lol #ANYWAY have some sirens in fancy dresses heeh hee hooo

I was going to give him a better neutral facial expression because there's not a single thought behind those eyes but my friend liked it :)! Also the skirt looks awful because I could not find a reference image nor could I make one :(

I’m back to my old routine where I have breakfast and catch up on the news and hello this home is so clean and tidy I’m very happy.

#like usually a day off would be cleaning but . … nothing rly needs it?#there’s about 20 mins of upkeep to do. like wipe and dust some sides so it doesn’t build up. put away washed up dishes. idk #like literally nothing obvious #which is GOOD cos I need to do my annual organise and clear out of my bedroom #and the wardrobe is a state #cos my focus has been on how the flat was a tip when other people lived here #js if my home was spotless when I lived alone #spotless since my friend has moved in #then the gross state of the place was probably not down to me #so yes I’m very happy to be cosy today and to do the one productive thing I have left to do

i have. mixed feelings on the "inspect cosmetics" option that anet has put into the game.

cus on one hand i am naturally curious, and being able to see what ppl use for outfits is nice, especially bc hunting singular pieces down is a nightmare.

but on the other hand, i am (and have been) SO incredibly paranoid about people stealing my ocs because they're all extremely personal to me, and being able to see exactly what dye combos and gear pieces i'm using gives people one less obstacle to do so if they want to be particularly malicious.

#from beyond the grave #''but nick. you play WoW and they have the same exact thing'' i know! i don't know why this is different in my brain!!#i think it might be the dye part that is making my brain wiggly #if the inspect cosmetic thing didn't *also* include the dyes you're using i'd be more fine with it? because then it's just the armor pieces #and with a bit of eyeballing you can usually figure out what those are in the wardrobe section without the inspection #(which just makes it easier at a glance)#and the dyes make it more personalized and unique #idk man i go thru bouts of slapping my entire toyhouse with auth only because i have a months-long bout of paranoia re: oc theft #it's absolutely A Sickness In My Brain
