something something this scene from the trailer being a parallel to mary-ann and seymour (fated to end up alone in their despair and having to “act” a part)
Tumblr media
add this to the fact that mary-ann’s last name was guillotin and furina gets, well…

my god i am ADORING the fontaine world quests so much they are so good
#personal stuff#thorn plays genshin#i love how they all show different sides of fontaine while also being connected!!!! and we get pieces of the puzzle with each quest!!#all the alice in wonderland imagery too. caterpillar........ also lyris being called the ''red empress''.....like the red queen perhaps?#and taking everyone back to the ordo after each quest is so cool and satisfying because it really feels like it's building to something#and we'll finally get to see the whole puzzle and figure everything out and AUUGH.#just the whole doomsday clock + the ??? domain talking about the apocalypse and how no more civilizations will be made#and caterpillar's comment that maybe we're already living in the apocalypse. HMM. maybe we are#jsut AUUGH. it's so so so cool. i love lore :]#though each one is supremely fucked up in different ways. and i love it#ann's whole thing with Stories and how what stories are told about you shape who you are as a person#and all the alice in wonderland stuff in her quest#the whole thing with elynas and jakob in seymour's quest. plus the book of revealing with canotila.#then everything about the Master that we learn from caterpillar???#me going on the wiki like hey what the fuck is going on. and going WAIT THE INSTITUTE AND THE ORDO ARE TWO DIFFERENT THINGS#okay that makes more sense. the institute split and the ordo was made of the people who believed in the abyss and apocalypse stuff#OH MY GOD ALAIN AND MARY-ANN ARE SIBLINGS. sorry this is not a huge reveal i just didn't know what their connection was#i'm not reading all the artifact descriptions sorry </3#anyway i'm psyched i love siblings.#ALAIN MADE HER A ROBOTIC DOG TO PROTECT HER. cries and explodes forever i love you sibligns. wtf#but yea the master being a fucked up rebirth combo of lyris and rene.#and caterpillar possibly being created from the master's memory of carter who was also ''prepped for rebirth'' by rene before his dissolvin#NO BUT ACTUALLY WHAT THE FUCK. in ann's story lyris giving up her ''time'' to freeze narcissus. what the fuck was that about#with the context that she and rene dissolved and were stripped of personality to become the Master which caterpillar calls narzissenkreuz#?????????#god. remember when i said i felt like i needed a corkboard and red string to figure this stuff out. still true#i could just read the wiki but the black + white contrast makes my head hurty. thank you <3

Another episode of me sneaing
Today's topic is my fierce hatred of chronically online ppl, not in the able-to-cite-vines-way, the chronically online that entails a severe lack of media literacy.
The worst part about those ppl is the fact they often just suck ass at arguing. Take the Neuvillette-is-bad-at-his-job debate which happened last fall. A 20 yr old dude on twt made a whole ass thread about how Neuvillette is a shit judge because he sent baby Wriothesley to anarchist jail (Meropide) bc baby wrio committed murder + he shows favoritism towards the melusines + he couldn't solve the child trafficking and the serial disappearance case
It got the crusty rusty gears in me brain spinning. They listed (3) points from what I could remember (I mean it's my own rant that nobody will read anyway): 1) Neuvillette is a shit judge because he shouldn't have sent baby Wriothesley to Meropide 2) He personally investigated Kiara's (melusine) case but never Wrio's or anyone else's 3) He never solved the two major trafficking cases
I made a longer qrt jurisprudence 101 thread explaining 1) It was definitely a bad idea to send a preteen/teen to anarchist jail where ppl could just do whatever they wanted. Yes, it is horrible that juvenile delinquency is somehow not a thing in the LAND OF JUSTICE, and Neuvillette is an important part of Fontaine's justice system, so he is partially to blame. However, HE SHOULD NOT BE BLAMED FOR HOW HE FULFILLS HIS DUTY AS THE CHEF JUSTICE? The sentence and the gravity with which bro came to it indicates that he is as objective and level-headed as a judge should be.
2) Bro is also a bit special. Since the leading paradigm in Teyvat is Divine/Human, as something in between divine and human (descendant of the Soverign Seven), Neuvillette has always been the outsider. I am not stretching this is literally one of the main pillars of his character. Melusines, who were born from Elynas, got the same kind of treatment as Neuvillette, IT WAS EVEN HIM who introduced them to the Court of Fontaine. AND they are like 100-200 in total. He'd naturally feel more drawn to them than the vast majority of humans making up one end of the paradigm...
(There is also the apparently irrelevant information of him having lost two friends, Carol and Vautrin, one melusine one human, due to his hermitry from the human society. He does not seem traumatized by it at all!!!!!!!1!!1)
Moreover it was made really clear in the story quest the Kiara case was an exception.
3) Now we really have to address the elephant in the fucking opera. What the fuck do you mean "the judge is shit because he didn't do the investigation on their own"? Does the person know that the justice system consists of more than (1) party? The police? Detectives? Forensics? No? Ok. The judges do all the work, it'll absolutely grant objectivity and efficiency ✊️
(Marechausse Phantom: ?
Gardes: ?)
Justice is literally ABOUT the PEOPLE. It exists to SERVE the PEOPLE. If we ignore the systematics of it all and just dump everything on one person, then what is even the point? Sure, Neuvillette may be able to change the laws or build a rehab whenever, but would it matter if Fontainians themselves don't care at all?

Have you got any nifty theory/opinion about the archon quest that you want to share ?
okay so i have a few thoughts but most of them aren't directly linked to the archon quest, but rather the main storyline
let's get this out of the way: massive spoilers for fontaine's AQ under the cut
SO. first of all, the plot between focalors and furina corroborates a theory ive had with friends for a while: zhongli/morax is a descender
let me explain quickly the part that's linked to fontaine. so far, almost all of the archons have had a counterpart: venti and the nameless bard, ei and makoto, nahida and rhukkadevata, and now furina and focalors. zhongli is the only one who never had that counterpart - he has many titles, but it's always him. so fontaine has not shot down this part of the argument and that makes me happy (there's a lot of other things to take into account in this theory tho)
another theory, but it's not mine, it's wei's (i greatly recommend watching their videos, they always fuck me up): paimon is the heavenly principles. the ties with fontaine isn't the AQ but one of neuvillette's line, "more about neuvillette III" where he talks abt a representation in the opera etc. to summarize it, the HP have been theorized by nahida to be the first descender, and neuvillette's mention of the representation + saying it fits the world's current state corroborates paimon being the HP.
NOW onto my opinions of the quest
i loved it, plainly and simply. the characters are well-written, i was on the edge of my seat (which did not happen in sumeru lol. rip bozo) and really felt like i was playing the game i fell in love with. amazing 12/10
now.... it put a lot of things in perspective especially towards the climax: skirk's appearance was surprising, as was the whole area. i guess it's supposed to be the abyss? im not a big fan of her design (not the clothes/vibe but the model) but she gave us so much info my brain gave out. first, the fact that there are other people like gold was surprising - and means that all abyss creatures weren't necessarily brought to teyvat by her. im guessing the weird balls in fontaine are from another source, but maybe elynas as well? i can't recall exactly his story beyond the fact that he's an abyssal creature similar to the all devouring narwhal
speaking of, i can't believe im gonna say this, but im disappointed we didn't get to see childe any more than that. i know him traumadumping was kind of a chekov's gun for those unfamiliar with his backstory, but the fact that he had to relive the trauma of fighting the narwhal needs to be inspected.
i wish we got more intel on surtalogi, too. but anyway
another thing that's interesting is the descenders. first, we got confirmation that the first descender is the primordial one, meaning that the heavenly principles are in fact phanes. we also know the 3rd descender is dead, and their remains were used to create the gnoses - that leaves only the 2nd descender with an unknown fate AND identity (it's zhongli. trust)
the whole thing with the dragons is also interesting, especially because we're still missing information on the wind/anemo and the thunder/electro sovereign. dvalin was theorized to be the anemo one, as he was born in the same manner and shares a link with the anemo archon - id say he's a more recent incarnation? but we don't have anything on the electro one as far as i know
anyway i actually have a shit ton of thoughts but im not sure how to verbalize 90% of them this is a mess im sorry
