Last night, I got to see my favorite book’s movie adaptation, The Wild Robot! 🥹

The Wild Robot series has sat on my nightstand for years, and I am blown away by how beautiful the movie is. The movie and the books are both masterpieces, and I cannot recommend them enough 💖🤖🪿

I’m rereading the books now that the movie is out and one of the images was Roz looking very menacing with a pair of hedge shears.

Personally it’s one of my favourite images throughout the first book.

Tell me that if you saw her standing over your bed in the middle of the night you wouldn’t scream.

I’ve been reading the books and checking out the art book and

Come across something I think SOME are overlooked in information about the other robots in the movies and books compared to Roz

Roz did something not a single other robot is willing to do and gained something all the other robots don’t even want

She gained a heart and a soul and her own personality; she learned to LOVE to CARE she

Literally PROGRAMMED herself to love to care to gain a heart to not only care for BrightBill and Fink and all the other animals on the island but she learned to LOVE the hold island and by doing so changed herself to be something so much more than any other robot made like her

She gained her own personality; the other robots were she’s from are NOT made to have their own personality they do NOT care they are soulless machines made to do whatever task humans want them to do and keep clean they don’t have personalities like Roz does they do not care or love and don’t care to all they care about is doing tasks they’re programmed to do;; they don’t want anything all they do is follow protocol and their orders of their programming they don’t reprogram themselves nor feel the need to do anything to change their programming because they don’t care

Roz being alone out in the wild learned to care and to REPROGRAM herself to care to love and by doing so has gained a hold sense of self and her Own personality; she’s done something no other robot been able to do PROGRAM HERSELF and learned to care and LOVE

She has reprogrammed herself so many times to live in the wild with the other animals on the island to understand them and in turn to care for them and the island not a single other person/ robot can reprogrammed her but herself

She has hacked her own code where she can keep her own memories from being deleted and changed no other robot will understand this or care about this they cannot and will not understand;; a human might be able to understand this but the other robots in the factory she’s from they will not and never will; heck they’ll never care about it

Roz is a special robot

Heck the book itself even says she’s a special robot because she’s changed HERSELF and learned to care and love

Heck even in the movie when she’s trying to get help from some of the other Brocken robots on the beach 🏖️ that robot doesn’t care past it’s programming when Roz talks about having a kid; like that robot doesn’t get it nor cares about that at all; if Roz had said that to a human like you or me; I’d be asking how did a robot get a kid all the way out in the wild with no other humans around or asking what or how or giving some kinda shock confused response to that but all that robot response with a cheerful *ok* as if to say so what in a very uncaring manner

Look I work food services for a pretty big hospital 🏥 when people say they have a kid most people reaction is to ask about it or give different responses than a cheerful ok

So when someone made a post saying how could Roz in one of the other books about how could Roz think the other robots are fine where they are and not demanding they be freed like her I’d say she knows fully well that the other robots don’t care about being free; it’s not in their programming to care; they don’t care about anything; they don’t have programming to care about anything and they don’t care that they don’t have their own personalities THEY DON’T CARE they don’t feel like Roz cares and feels and thinks for herself; they’re happily give her up to be scape metal if they were tasked to do so; Roz is special because she’s learned to care and reprogrammed herself to love because being in nature has teach her how to care and love; she wouldn’t of learned this if that ship didn’t crash and sink at the island and she’d been left to care for herself in the wild;

Also I have a feeling if they do movies on the other 2 books 📚 I’ve a feeling they’ll touch more on how special she is compared to the other robots who don’t care but to finish tasks

I recently watched 'The Wild Robot' + I absolutely adore it.

Its my current hyperfixation and im currently reading through the 1st book

The Curious Case of Rozzum Unit 7134

or "A Potential Prologue to The Wild Robot 2 Based on the Second Book"! Put short, the second book starts in a setting that's a bit different from the last scene of the movie. This is my way of linking the two!

No spoilers, but some out of context things are in there that readers of the books will definitely recognize.

*A digital interface takes up the entire screen, haptics and indiscernible code in the corners as a report is pulled up. An AI voice narrates.*

Universal Dynamics restricted file access clearance approved. Case File 62189: the curious case of Rozzum Unit 7134. 7134 was the sole surviving unit of a container ship run aground in a typhoon. Nearly a year afterwards, we received – and quickly lost – its transmitter signal from a remote northern island. Our first recovery convoy failed, and reports show that the ship and every robot aboard was destroyed by unknown means. We prepared to resort to more extreme methods until 7134 itself reactivated its signal.

*Several drone snapshots show the RECOs surrounding Roz at gunpoint on the island and escorting her onto the ship. Photos not unlike mugshots show off all the abnormalities we saw her body earn, such as her wooden leg, the moss growing along her limbs, and the broad scratches across her torso.*

The Rozzum unit returned to us in peace but continues to be an enigma to us. An in-depth diagnostic before reconditioning revealed to us that the memory bank draw had been performed mere moments before the convoy was destroyed, and the unit reported no such memories after that point. What happened on that island will seemingly never be known to us.

*There’s hardly a moment that Roz isn’t being observed by a sentry drone. She is seen in the midst of several diagnostic, verbal, and kinesthetic tests - never seeming to bat an eye. She is a capable actress and, thanks to Fink, a capable liar. As she was always meant to do, she is clearly adapting to survive even here. Footage then shows her old parts being discarded and shiny, clean new parts replacing them.*

Rozzum 7134 aced the Compliance and Sensory tests without issue and was reconditioned as an agricultural class unit. We monitored her closely during and after this transition time. No incidents or strange behaviors were observed until this past week. November 17th at 0015 hours, 7134 displayed some…concerning behaviors.

*Security drone footage shows a sequence of zoomed-in photos of Brightbill interacting vaguely with Roz (are they embracing each other??), Roz noticing the drone, and Roz aiding in the goose’s escape from the dome. The final video shows Roz holding up her hands in baffled surrender before the surrounding RECOs. She is later seen in an interrogation room, and then on a maintenance stand like the one on which Vontra gave her her first memory wipe.*

Upon interrogation, the unit claimed she was simply completing a task. Due to a record of compliant behavior, this appears to be some result of a glitch in its system. After another hard reset, 7134 has been returned to rotation. We will be keeping an eye from afar on 7134, but rest assured it has been reassigned where it will not be any further trouble.

*After video confirmation of another memory wipe, more drone snapshots recall back to Roz being caught with Brightbill. One photo of her is zoomed in and refined with AI, and…though it could be a AI graphics issue…the way she’s looking back over her shoulder makes her look not to differently from an escaped convict.*

If any further incidents are reported, Dr. Molovo must be notified and subject must be recaptured, deactivated, and destroyed.

No exceptions.

mARTch 2024 (Day 15): Complimentary

Ok first off, my apologies for getting this done later than usual, I wasn’t expecting it to take me this long but I wanted to add some extra details to it. Second, I want to clarify that none of these are my characters, but rather they’re Roz and Brightbill from the book “The Wild Robot” by Peter Brown, and the scene I was trying to draw here was from the trailer for the upcoming movie based on the book. I’m super excited about it since a few months back a friend of mine gave me the book to read while recovering, I love it, and the movie looks amazing, so I can’t wait to see it! Also, from here on out I don’t have any specific plans for any of the prompts (at least I don’t think so) so there’s a good chance I’ll be going back to doodles for a while.
