On the street, some things need no explanation. Golden arches will always mean McDonald's. A yellow goggle-eyed-pants-wearing cartoon sponge will always mean SpongeBob. And finding both as iconographic logos embossed onto sweaters or stitched into purses can only mean Moschino.

We like to think of Moschino's creative director, Jeremy Scott, as the Roy Lichtenstein of the runway. Lichtenstein might have been painting up a ‘Boom!’ and a ‘Pow!’ across the art scene, but his pop-art is being revered from the Museumplein to MoMA.

Fast forward thirty-five years from the Italian brand’s birth and millennials are still lining their shopping carts with Moschino-mania and sporting it loud and proud in all its avant-garde glory. It’s a ubiquitous code of art that speaks for itself.  It sits on the throne of pop culture, throws the right amount of fun at the millennial merry-go-round, and comes at a pretty penny.

That is until H&M and Jeremy Scott - who has been at the helm of Moschino since 2011 - announced that they are joining forces on what might just be the designer killer collab of the year. And after ‘Say whaaaa?!’ and ‘Yasssss!’ are all said and done, it makes total sense. Dubbed ‘the people’s designer’, Scott is known for producing collections that connect the dots between pop culture and couture. Collaborating with a global high street retailer aligned with his design philosophy will only open the gates wide to a more affordable take on his word.

“I want to reach an even more international audience at a reasonable price.’ Scott said of the partnership. “With H&M, Moschino can be all over the world. It’s a thrill for me. And not only for me but also for fans of the brand. I’m so conscious of the fans. They are so passionate. They are so creative and brilliant. I just want to meet their enthusiasm. That’s what this is about."

This will be achieved through a kaleidoscopic, streetwear-inspired offering with a price point of 25 - 300 pounds, from upscale sportswear, reconfigured denim, to a sequinned parka dress according to British Vogue. What it will not be short of is the same humorous construct that saw his Adidas footwear collaborations soar. Having a merry poke at fashion’s status quo is Scott all over, and the designer has this new collaboration covered.

"What I can promise is that, of course, there will be fun and colour and cartoons. Of course, we have to have cartoons! Like all my collections, it’s humour meets haute couture meets the street. That’s been a hallmark of my work for Moschino, and I want to continue to explore that with this collection.

From womenswear to menswear and accessories, Scott’s latest collaboration is set to be a queue curler come launch day, when Moschino x H&M will be available worldwide online and in selected stores. The date is set for November 8th, 2018. Which would mean we’re giving you a whole seven-month headstart. Our guess is you’re going to need it. Go!
