Its all different in the light

"The world looks different when its in the light," she whispered sleepily, turning over onto her side to muffle the comments that she would be making in the future. The boy that was laying a couple of feet away from her, turned over onto his own side, stretching his hand out to stroke her back. "Its dark outside, Sarah." He says simply, locks of brown hair falling over his forehead in a knot of summer sweat. Sarah shakes her head vigorously, locks of it flying all over the place, some hitting the boy in the nose. "Thats not what I mean. I mean when your seeing things in the light for the first time, when your entire view point isn't fogged by dark sunglasses." She sighs and turns over onto her back, his hands fall short and now move to rest on her shoulder, continuing to massage. "What is different about the world?" He asks, feeling himself starting to drift off into a deep slumber, the allure of her voice fighting to keep him awake. "Well... You for starters," she says with a soft smile, shifting her body slightly to the left to look at the boy who was fighting sleep beside her. She lifted a hand up and tousled his hair before running one of her fingertips down the bridge of his nose. "Mmmm?" he whispered softly, starting to melt into the bed-sheets against the rhythm of her hand in his hair.  Sarah shifts again, scooting closer to the boy who we shall call Philip for the sake of literary flow. "Like... I used to view you as this person who was only with me because he was too nice to say anything otherwise, and I used to think that you would run away and leave but..." She trailed off stroking her free hand over a scar that laid plain as day on her wrist. Philip was starting to wake up now, his eyelids fluttered open and squinted slightly in an attempt to see Sarah in the darkness of the early morning, and his hand, as if on instinct, slid over hers covering the scar completely. "I would never leave you, I hope you know that." Philip whispered, a couple beads of sweat dropping down his forehead from the mix of summer heat and night time nerves. In the darkness Sarah nodded her head, lacing her fingertips within Philips. "I know now that you wouldn't. Its weird because like, I used to think everything was beautiful even with the dark sunglasses... but now, its gorgeous. Have you seen the way the stars shine, or the way the tree's move in the breeze?" Philip nodded, stroking the back of her palm with his thumb. "No, I mean really seen it. Like you were looking at everything for the first time, like a blind man who has suddenly been given the gift of sight." This time instead of nodding, Philip shook his head. To be perfectly honest, he had never really noticed. The tree's swayed to the same beat of the earth that they always did, and the stars were just as bright as they could be despite all the pollution in the world. Chewing on his lip for a moment, Philip spoke once more. "What brought this on? What changed?" Sarah laughed her melodic laugh, her eyes closing and scrunching up at the corners as she did so. The laughter went on for 5 minutes, Philip was staring into the dark perplexed. Before he could ask his question again Sarah leaned over and kissed the bridge of his nose, the mint of her breath washing over his face. "I did, silly. I changed." "Nothing about you needs to change," Philip said with a small smile, squeezing Sarah's hand gently. Sarah laughed again placing yet another kiss on Philips face, this one right by the corner of his lip. "Then don't think of it as changing I guess, think of it as growing. I am becoming the best that I can be by patching up pieces of my soul that were broken long ago. I am becoming whole, and oh god does it feel great." Philip smiled bigger in the darkness, sliding his free hand up to stroke over Sarah's jawline. He could feel her smiling, and that was enough to light up this whole room. "What do you need to continue growing?" He asked quietly, leaning in to attempt to place a kiss on her nose. He missed and kissed her eye instead, but this made Sarah laugh even more. Once she calmed down she let out a happy exhale and simply said. "Me and a want to get better, your just a bonus." Philip laughed himself, managing to capture her lips in a kiss. Sarah smiled sleepily against his lips, pulling away to let out another happy sigh. Philip reached his hand up and brushed her hair away from her forehead, sliding his fingertips down gently over her eyelids. "Lets try and get some sleep, missy. Don't let the light blind you." Sarah shook her head, turning over onto her side once more, hair falling over her face as she whispered. "After a lifetime in darkness, it would be a privilege to be blinded by light."

Always-A MiniStory

Hi! It’s me Starry Emerald. I don’t know much about computers, but Penelope told me to just start using my magic to push the buttons and say whatever I feel like. This keyboard is interesting, there’s a lot of metal mechanisms in it that I don’t understand yet, but maybe I’ll figure it out.

Sometimes, I get creative blocks. I get burned out after creating so much, that I feel I need a break. Then I start shutting off the flow of ideas to a trickle, then to nothing. Then I find I don’t know what to make anymore. Which is awful for my job, let me tell you. ^-^’ 

I get inspired by my emotions. I like to think of the creations as a living flow of emotion that I want to shape from the depths of my spirit into a physical object. Sometimes I don’t think they are any good. Ponies may buy my stuff, but sometimes I don’t feel like they are appreciated. Especially when Clear Carot used to sell my stuff. I didn’t get to see how my customers felt about what they were buying.

Sometimes I use my saddest feelings to shape into my creations. With living in an orphanage and not really feeling like I knew what I would do with my life, being able to make little odds and ends was my only comfort most of the time.

Sometimes it’s not the saddest feelings, but wistful, happy ones. I wish that there was something happier, or I imagine my favorite memories, and I let that peace and contentment just take over and make something beautiful.

I don’t like creating stuff while angry. It isn’t safe when handling extremely hot stuff. I’ve gotten a few burns when I tried to work while angry, and I didn’t get my work done at all.

And sometimes creating stuff as a job is exhausting in itself. I talked about creative blocks, but mare! it can be a tough job to try to come up with stuff and hope that it pleases the ponies that receive it.

But I guess, at the end of the day, being able to do what I love to do, even when sometimes it doesn’t seem to love me back, is such a blessing.

I’m so thankful for my friends Cass and Bee for visiting me and Postage Stamp looking out for me, and Edgy. I guess I’m thankful for him, too. Even though he gives me a hard time with how aloof he always is, we’re still pretty close.

Penelope said I couldn’t stay on here long. Something about some stuff she doesn’t want me to see. I try to help her out with some research into Equestrian society, but she always asks me all these personal questions.

Anyway, I’ll try to keep creating and keep my hopes up. And thanks for being there, everypony. ^-^
