THE FLY II 1989 Sci-fi/Horror “Like Father, Like Son” #4 of 500 With no sign of the creepy dark charm that David Cronenberg gave to the original film, I find myself a little disappointed in the son of the fly AKA “The Fly 2”. Eric Stoltz provides a decent performance as Martin Brundle son of Seth Brundle the original fly. Having been born slithering into the world, martins first and greatest loss is the passing of his mother, which leaves him in the self-appointed care of Anton Bartok (Lee Richardson), the CEO of the laboratory where Martin’s father worked as a research scientist. Being born with obviously rare genetic traits, Martin find some self aging rapidly, And confined to the laboratory facilities with only Beth (Daphne Zuniga) as his friend and companion. now Martin races to find the cure for his unique genetic state all well-being closely scrutinized and monitored by the laboratory staff and CEO. I can’t help but wonder had David Cronenberg had anything to do with this film if it might have turned out a little less cute and campy, and a little bit more grotesque. Even the fly on human kills littering the end of the movie felt, even through fairly decent practical effects, like they contributed very little to the neat and tidy conclusion to the film. Was I wrong to want something a little darker. Like father like son.  The Fly II was directed by Chris Salas and stars Eric Stolz, Daphine Zuniga and Jeff Goldblum (sort of). Well he wasn't really in this sequel, they used some clips from the first film. A boy genius that rapidly ages name Martin Brundle the son of Seth Brundle discover these telepods and is study at the Bartok laboratory, but yet Martin is also discovering the changes that's happening to him rather it's good or his worst nightmare? Part 2 isn't really the best sequel nor gory than the first film did. Even so it was still terrifying and the fly monster was scary and only to be an underrated sequel. Based off on the original Vincent Price's The Fly, a 1986 remake and directed David Cronenberg and stars Jeff Goldblum and Geena Davis. A scientist name Seth Brundle creates these telepods in which he uses them to transport himself from one pod to the other, but little does he know when he uses them a fly gets in the pod and slowly transforms him into a hideous mutant insect monster, his worst nightmare of all. For a 80s horror film it's really good and gruesome because the practical effects were terrifying but in a good way. The transformation from Seth Brundle to Seth Brundlefly is amazing and so realistic you can tell it looks so real that Jeff Goldblum doesn't look like him anymore from all that heavy makeup.
