Would "radicals" be a better word to describe those people? Before Tumblr, I always thought social justice was about fighting for rights and freedom (like freeing child slaves).

I'm not sure. I just find the term 'SJW' to be some label to give people in order to right them off.

From what I experienced, militant vegans think the planet is black and white, and when someone attempts to prove to them that there's grey areas between the black and the white, they'll deny it and keep telling you why "you must believe the exact same shit they believe". Doesn't that remind you of some people? In my case, that reminds me of radical feminists (yes, I watch The Amazing Atheist a lot :P).

Personally, I'm not a fan of The Amazing Atheist.

But yeah, militant vegans and radical feminists are definitely similar.
