my question to horikoshi now is “why would you ever create such a vast array of high school characters (40+ teenage characters!!) and only focus on five (give or take)”...especially since it feels like the manga is coming to an end soon and we don’t even know the motivations or characterizations for half of midoriya and bakugou’s fuckin homeroom class let alone the entirety of the rival class! and yeah, we have the joint-training session... but then they disappear. they’re not even a large part of the war effort iirc and the 1-A classmates that are a part of the war are just There. tokoyami gets some spotlight, good for you birdboi, but everyone else is just there to fight and cry when people die. yaoyorozu gets a little, so does ashido and uraraka, but it just feels so flat compared to the big-hitters within the group (i’m looking at you, todoroki). i can’t help but think about that one popular post where people commented on that one screenshot saying “you really can’t tell who the main character is, their character designs are so unique” -- while that IS true, if you get one whiff of the storyline you’ll quickly find that it isn’t true
