      HER FIRST INSTINCT IS TO GRAB HER GUN.           there  ain't  no  scenario  she  can  think  of  where  anyone  savory  would  go  knockin'  on  her  door  at  half  past  one  in  the  AM.        calamity  makes  sure  there's  at  least  two  bullets  in  the  thing  before  fixing  her  tits  in  her  tank  top  and  starting  for  the  other  end  of  the  room.        it's  then,   in  her  sleepy  stupor,    that  she  remembers  motels  got  peep  holes  and  decides  to  make  good  use  of  the  one  she's  been  granted.         mid-squint,    she  expects  to  see  some  fuckin'  character  in  all  black  with  zip  -  ties  and  a  knife  ready  to  take  her  out  for  a  drive.        but  what  she  actually  sees  is  some how  even  more  chilling.          ❝      —   fuckin   . . .   tatum ?      is'at  you,   dollface  ?   ❞            it  clearly  is    . . .    even  if  she  can't  believe  it.         she  makes  quick  work  of  unlocking  and  opening  the  door,    glock  still  in  hand  just  in  case  someone's  ready  to  pop  out  and  give  'em  a  good  surprise.         when  it's  clear  that  she's  just  being    OVERLY - CAREFUL,     she  grabs  tatum's  shoulder  and  ushers  her  inside.             in the dim light,   the other girl looks like she's seen a ghost.         calamity  locks  the  door  once  more  and  trades  the  gun  for  blossom,   who's  been  chilling  on  a  throw  pillow  watching  this  all  go  down.        ❝    are  you  bein'   followed   or  somethin' ?       or  did    . . .    did  someone  else  kick  the  bucket  ?     ❞

you got the same look in your eyes the first time you tried vodka, Gi, remember? We stole the bottle and got drunk on the rooftop of that gas station .

– she almost hears, within the deep corners of her mind, Zion’s amused laughter at her pursed lips and burning throat. Maybe she’s been thinking about him too much ( maybe that’s why she’s drinking in the first place ), maybe her brain just needs to come back to the only solid, stable thing she knew.

You’re a killer now, sugar – ain’t no rest for the wicked.

“ what’s in this glass, toilet water? It should be burning my throat, not my nose, ” she’s not in the mood to be scammed off her liquor – she’s also perfected the art of being absolutely obnoxious until she gets what she wants, in the case that charm doen’t work. And judging by the glare from the aged - up bartender when she tried sweet talking the old fart into giving her the shot for free, she has decided she doesn’t have an ounce of fake courtesy to spare.

“ what? never seen a woman fighting for her right to ingest decent booze? ” the lady on her right is given a glare, accompanied by tongue sticking out , “ this shit’s nasty ! ”

“i swear it’s safe. boy scout’s honor.”  a hand lifts above the side of his head, in promise. there’s little to no fear in the man’s eyes as he speaks of this new haunted destination of theirs, if anything, there’s a very obvious glint of excitement to them.  “i’ve got all my research done, here— we can have velma look it over, afterwards, but…”  before he did anything, however, he needed to hear a yes from her.  [or at the very least a maybe.]
