Between finishing my tech witch short story for an upcoming free sci-fi/dystopian anthology and starting the illustrations for Busy Bee, I have rediscovered my joy!!! #FantasyIndiesAugust- Favorite fantasy creatures! My favorite are probably fairies! Not only do I work with them on my handmade business, @acorn_tops, but they also feature in my Basil Basset Books Series! This dandelion fairy is from The Lion's Tooth! #WriterFriendsChallenge- Tell A Joke Day Sticking with my children's books and The Lion's Tooth specifically, this one might be more kid's logic than a joke, but it made me chuckle when writing it! It's a play one of the lore surrounding dandelions. If you blow a dandelion and the seeds float down instead of up, it is a sign of bad weather. Bad weather, under the weather, feeling bad, feeling unwell... #TheMoonLightningandSkyChallenge- Mid month check in! Sticking with children's books, still, my focus this month is primarily on formatting and editing Pam Ryan's Baby Bird Gets His Feathers. I'm about halfway through the formatting, I believe. Just one or two more days and I think it will be ready to be sent to the author for her okay! #SpilltheTeaMC- #WriterWednesday: What makes an MC compelling, whether it is a children's illustrated book or a 300+ page novel, is making them three dimensional. They should have personality and all that comes with it. Flaws and quirks and all. Happy #nationalbookloversday! Books play such an important role in my Be book series! Where the Heart Is (Book 3 #amwriting): "Stories deserved to be wrapped in something as delicious and wonderful as what they held inside, in her opinion. Molvinius once countered that he found stories could hold their own and the plainest of covers merely allowed the story to speak for itself. "It was hardly your jewels that caught my eyes," she could picture him saying as she inspected the worn pages. He'd kiss her hand, his lips awakening that thrill in the pit of her stomach that often made her wonder how they'd feel elsewhere. Clary's favorite book is Tales of the West! An Impossible Dream (book 2 #amediting): The walls seemed built of books alone and, if Sare didn’t know any better, she’d had thought removing one would reveal the architectural bones of the castle. Sunlight tumbled in the windows, oblivious to the shadows that resided outside the door. She had a hard time imagining shadows ever leaked in. Despite the graveyard of foliage inside the castle walls, somehow the room had an enticing aroma of a garden blended with the scent of old books and firewood. It only made it a hint easier to cross the threshold without permission. ... She turned back to the books. They were like a breath of fresh air. Her fingers itched to touch the immaculate leather spines. Not only was the collection bigger than most, but they were far nicer, too. Some were older than others, but they were beautiful. I am very fortunate to have a great support of friends and family who have been very encouraging over the years, from my mom beginning in the earliest years (you can read some about that in my Vocal Story: https://vocal.media/families/lullaby-of-a-future-writer), my beta readers (forward from Be), or readers and friends like Dot Cannon of Noelophile and Over Coffee Podcast (interview about The Memory Tree: https://noelophile.com/?p=14801), just to name a few! #MeetMyBookCommunity- Introduce Your WIP Where the Heart is The Queen’s, story. It follows Henry’s mother from the moment she first arrives in Midgrim to the events leading up to Be. #WriterFriendsChallenge- How do you create stability in your writing life? 😂 Hahahahahahahaha haha! Stability! That's a good one! 🤣 #SpilltheTeaMC- #WriterWed Favorite kind of MC to write I just sort of write what comes. I have yet to come across one I don't enjoy writing. I suppose I like my MC's the way I like my cheese. Strong, but in their own unique way. I like a little humor to them, too, I suppose. It would be fun to do a Venn diagram of all my characters to really see the similarities in all of them. I also enjoy the difference among them. How even when I write a seventeen year old young woman who is comfortable displaying her anger, they aren't cookie cutter.
