I'm convinced Bobby Nash has to die. Now hear me out!! Cause I don't think he has to stay dead. In fact, it fits better if he doesn't. Here's the thing: Bobby believes he should have died in the fire that killed his family and all those people. It really seems there is absolutely no way for him to feel any closure on that, except, maybe, dying in/as a result of/in the vicinity of a fire after saving his family, aka Athena. A fire that burned down his now-family's home.

In Bobby Begins Again, Bobby is told You want to be punished? Your punishment is that you lived. Now make it worth a damn. And all this 'putting his affairs in order' stuff is kind of him double-checking that he really did make it worth a damn. For other people. Not for himself. He still doesn't believe he deserves any sort of happy ending. So, him dying and then living, just like Buck, would be another perfect little joke from his God, a sort of, You want to die for your sins? Fine. Now you have. Now live and be free of them.

Dying for your sins sound familiar? A little Jesus-y? Yeah, it fits right into all the religious symbolism we got in Step 9, aka the very Bobby-centric episode we just had! @exhuastedpigeon made a really good post about it.

In the previous episode, we saw that Bobby had his addiction practically passed down to him by his father, like an original sin. He wandered the desert, he carried his cross. In this episode, he had his last meal and though he didn't quite literally pray with his family, he did give Eddie a book of catholic prayers...

So if we're following that theme, if Bobby is to get the closure he has been wishing for ever since that fire happened, he might just have to die. But we all know Jesus didn't exactly stay dead either.

Just watched the entirety of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners in nearly one sitting, with a “quick” break a few minutes before the end of episode 8 or so for the presidential debate. I knew what I was in for, at least I thought I did because damn was that impactful. The anime, I mean. Though this also applies to the debate, just not the impactful bit. I was in no way prepared for some of the bullshit that happened there, including Trump accidentally admitting the truth about some of his lies in a roundabout way (my favorite one is the bit where he said the country was going to hell as he was leaving office, a sentence that actually means that he is the one that sent us to hell).

🍋 What is their kryptonite/ultimate weakness?

His ultimate weakness is that he doesn't think he has any at all. He believes himself invincible, and acts accordingly; charging headfirst into firefights, climbing the highest building with no safety gear, driving recklessly & under the influence, drinking like he has a backup liver ready and waiting.

He's been humbled several times by netrunners hacking his implants, and huge brutes giving him a good wallop, but the lessons never stick and he finds himself in similar situations over and over even as he loads himself up with more and more cybernetics.

🥑 What will they never back down about, even if it makes them seem bad?

He doesn't believe in forgiving and forgetting. He's quite capable of being vindictive and petty, even though he hides it pretty well, and if he or someone he cares for is hurt or threatened in some way, he'll make it his sole mission to make the culprit's life hell. He'll effectively terrorise them into their grave without caring if his actions cause any collateral damage, and push revenge past a point most other people might lose steam or let things go, especially if the one who made the threat or caused the harm in the first place cries mercy or apologises.

He ended up in prison once because of this mean streak, but Night City made it a hundred times worse by rewarding that kind of thinking, reinforcing it until it was fully locked into his psyche.

Bruh, vowbreaker but rex's trust is shattered cause Cody lied to him about something as serious as their brother dying

There’s literally a scene in the next chapter where anakin overhears Rex and Cody talking but Rex is confronting Cody about how he’s staying so together and not grieving and Cody is like “I’m doing what needs to be done” and Rex is like “but if I died if it had been me is this how you would mourn ME??”

and Cody tries to tell him no of course not but it’s not like he can tell him anything to actually back him up so the conversation ends with Rex really not believing him and storming off and then Cody throwing something at a wall and screaming for as few seconds because honestly he deserves to break things and scream a bit

but anyway my point is Rex is gonna be so fucking pissed at Cody and obi-wan—not for what they did to anakin but for what they did to him
