Ghastly grandpoppy and my wraithlike relatives, what do you think of Halloween Horror Night? (And, Myrr, have you ever gone? What's it like? The youtube stuff seems underwhelming but the atmosphere seems neat)
Ghost Host: I for one love that you marvelous mortals have multiple ways to celebrate Halloween. It all die-pends on the level of scares you’re looking for. Halloween Horror Nights offers a, shall we say, more intense atmosphere than our Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party, and that’s a grand idea for the older, more adventurous sorts. The icons at Universal have become as boo-loved as the most popular haunts at the Mansion. (I know the Director and the Usher in particular have quite the fang- following here on Tomblr.) When it comes to haunted houses, the morgue the scarier, I say!
Myrr: I’ve done Howl -O- Scream at Busch Gardens a couple of times, and HHN once. I hesitate to give a review for HHN, because I went at a bad time… October of 2001… Yeah… I don’t think it’s fair to judge based on that trip because everything was toned down. Everyone was nervous and on high alert. It was also the–I believe – first time they tried it at Islands of Adventure, which was weird because they could not use Seuss Landing, so you had an entire section of nothing. The whole event that year was a bizarre, cautious experiment that didn’t really pan out. I’m sure they’ve gotten way better since then, especially now that they’re back at the Studios.
I do really like the effort they’ve put into the lore and the characters. The original icons are really cool. (My favorite is the Care Taker.) I know they used to do a massive puzzle on their website each year, but I’m not sure if they’ve continued that.
I love walk through haunted attractions, but it’s so easy to trigger my migraines, and my chronic sinusitis. I have to keep away from lots of strobe lights, fog, foam, and excessive loud noises, and, well, most haunted houses are loaded with those things. Anymore, I traverse them via youtube.
