Gwen normally denies being a Stacy but I think she’d go with it if it meant getting a peek in Spider-Society lmao…like what would she have to do to keep up that charade, who would be the first to realize they have the wrong Gwen and how would she finally kicked out 🤣

There was a six-way car pileup happening in front of Gwen. Except not cars. It was Spider-People. From other dimensions. On this random rooftop she wasn't even supposed to be at.

Now, Gwen had an important decision to make. Either jump in there. Or leave. And- oh, never mind the Dock Ock put through the photocopier too many times had been captured. Dammit. Guess she had to leave now...

"Hey, are you a Gwen Stacy variant?" One of the Spider-People asked, jumping in front of her.

Gwen squeaked, flinching back, "I- uh-" She almost reflexively corrected him, but then her brain managed to get ahold of herself. This was it. This was her chance.

She put on her best Stacy smile, "A variant? I'm the only Gwen Stacy I know."

The person laughed, seemingly unconcerned, "Boy, do you have a lot to learn, kid. Wanna meet the rest of us? And the rest of you, too?"

Gwen nodded. Slow. Calculated. Totally not excited beyond her life.

It didn't take long for Gwen to be integrated into Spider Society.

They gave her a dimension-hopping bracelet. And she managed to steal webshooters off someone. Everywhere she went at least one Spider-Person burst into tears.

It was everything she'd ever dreamed of.

Also the Miguel-patterned burgers were so cute. She was having one right now, in fact.

"Hey, Gwen- I mean, Spider-Woman." Another Spider-Man (she mentally had him dubbed as Redshirt Spider-Man) wandered up to her, "I was wondering. Did you have a Peter Parker?"

Gwen nodded empathically, "Yes. Peter. It was really sad." She sniffed, shifting to the sadness that was expected of her, "He just wanted to be like me. And I never thought to pay attention until-" She broke off from their, letting them connect the dots.

"Huh, that's weird." The Redshirt Spider-Man noted, looking at a tablet, "Says here that your Peter Parker was born on the West Coast? I meant like, a Peter Parker figure in your life."

Ahh dammit. Think fast, Gwen, think fast, think- DON'T BE A DUMBASS, HE GAVE YOU AN ALIBI!

"Haha I knew that. Obviously." She replied, "I was talking about Peter Ford. Who was an Inhuman. And tried to go through Terrigenesis."

"Oh, alright. I was asking, because..." He continued, but Gwen wasn't listening, the relief too sharp to focus on his words.

She had gotten through this. This time.

LMAO. It's official, this is one of the stupidest shows I've ever seen. Jfc.

Things I didn't appreciate about this episode:

1. Sylvie being a Variant because she was born a woman? Are you literally fucking kidding me? Jfc. I HATE this, for so many reasons. One because her being born a girl suggests that Loki cannot change his sex at will. This has always been a headcanon of mind, and you know what, since Loki does it in the comics, I feel its a valid one. Fucking hate this.

2. Loki's whole bullshit sequence with Sif. Not funny, annoying, and cruel. Much like Sif herself.

3. Mobius and Loki being friends??? Listen, I am a bit fond of the Lokius ship, sure. But they were never ever on those terms, what a fucking joke.

4. Sylvie and Loki's romantic relationship??? Really??? Really?? Just wow.

5. Loki and Mobius dying? Really, now just go fuck yourselves writers. Well, we know Loki is alive, we dont know what happened to Mobius. I'm wondering what those death sticks really do then. Still didn't appreciate the disrespect on both characters.

6. The Time Keepers being robots, all the ridiculous theatrics of it? It's so lame. Who the fuck decided Loki was going to be a comedy again? Yeah, thanks for nothing.

And these are just the points that made me angriest.

The series continues to be poorly written. Mostly in dialogue, reactions, and reasoning on the TVA's part. I dont get the impression that the TVA has ever been a threat and I'm surprised they lasted this long. Excuse me, but if little Sylvie could escape so easy, what the fuck was Loki doing?

On the discourse of this whole show, because I see it everywhere. Yeah, sorry, but Loki is hella ooc. And thats the tea on that. What I will say is, there's no way the show writers are doing it on purpose. They aren't actively trying to make Loki look this stupid. I'm pretty sure Loki has just been labeled as the "hero" at this point. So Loki doesn't get interesting characterization. No, I believe he's getting the Thor treatment of the first few movies.

They are banking on all their decent writing on Sylvie because she's the anti-villain? Because obviously they do not want an anti-villain as their main focus. Yeah, it's pure coincidence. That said, I dont know what this means for Sylvie at the end of the series. It's possible she'll just become a fan favorite. I already like her (and as far as I'm concerned, I'm sticking with my headcanon)

That said, I thought Sylvie's capture was so sad. Poor child. That did give brownie points for her being a Loki, but not enough where I'd change my headcanon, because this show has way too many things I dislike.

Loki continues to be useless. He literally just has stuff happen to him and doesn't move the plot forward much at all. I guess the writers didn't have a chance to learn that your protagonist is supposed to be proactive for them to be interesting? Weird, for something as high budget as Marvel, you would think they would care about their writers having some proper experience.

The Lokis are freaking ugly. What the fuck is up with this low budget ass show? This isn't the first time I've hated the costuming in a Marvel show, see: Falcon. The only decent one so far was Wanda's.

I thought this whole episode was a joke and I was waiting for the punch line the entire time.

Lastly, because I dont want to be unfair. These are all the points I liked:

1. Hunter B-15. So happy she's on the Lokis side. I love her. I've finally come around to loving her completely. She was one of the good points of this episode.

2. It was nice to see Asgard again, and little Sylvie was adorable. She was so happy. I'm glad to get another glimpse at Loki's life. And this makes sense of why she's so vague about everything. She doesn't have a life in Asgard.

3. Loki's hair in one scene was particularly gorgeous. I'll be going back in to screenshot it. 👀

4. Loki and Sylvie fighting, both of them fighting equally just as well.

5. I still like the idea of all the Lokis.

....and yeah, that's it. Most of these are just little details, like, visually speaking most of the production is nice (Except for the Time Keepers, the Loki's costumes)

This wasn't a great one, folks. And I imagine the rest of the series will be the same. Because this is a comedy after all. And once again, I feel thats where we go wrong. Because Loki was never supposed to be a comedy, nor was Thor. Yet recently they've made comedies of both of them.

That said, wow, I am okay now, yeah, this series is just bad, hard to even extrapolate anything, but now I realize they're not doing this maliciously. imo, they just have very bad takes. I maintain that if Tom was completely in charge, Loki would be as we remembered him, but frankly, I think it has more to do with this series being a comedy than anything. Let's hope Doctor Strange isn't a comedy, shall we?

PS. This show is really making me come to terms with throwing away canon, every single episode. So that's definitely a plus.

Hearing that there are people who've never seen pigeons before took me tf out because I thought they were just. Common everywhere????? And then you say you rarely see them but Singapore has a bunch and. Is Singapore just where all the pigeons went figfyif istg the only bird I see more than pigeons here are mynas. Anyway yes pigeons are ridiculously lazy here there's this one area where I stay where pigeons congregate for literally no reason and they will not move unless someone literally walks into the group it's ridiculous. On the bright side it makes birdwatching pigeons easy. There are a few cool doves around and one or two neat little patterned pigeons.

The answer is a resounding: YES! It's not so much that he's going to get more powerful but that he's going to gain more control of his abilities. The whole thing about superpowers is often that even if someone might have a lot of power, it doesn't necessarily mean they can channel it. The more power you have, the harder it is to use in a stable manner. Think of it in terms of skill. More skill means you apply it to more things and in different ways—ballet at a beginners level isn't an intensive as professional ballet, etc. Type I Psychics only levitate things, and that's basically it for more Psychics. And if you think about it, you're right. They're not as dangerous as they're made out to be, but ultimately, discrimination doesn't necessarily revolve around logic. Throughout history, humans have outcasted groups of people for reasons that make no sense all solely to have a power dynamic that makes them most powerful. Essentially, it boils down to human psychology, but before I go off, I'll just let the story speak for itself because there will be a lot more of that in Elysium :] I'm a huge psychology nerd aha!

And in terms of the superhero wikia (and the many variants) which I know what you're talking about since it is where I go to for all my superpower info needs, I've been using it since I started this universe back when I was like 15 lmaooo! I LOVE IT!!! I can't say that all the powers are the same because a lot of times it boils down to adaptation. The EM universe doesn't portray as crazy as some of the powers in the wiki, but it's a great source to use when looking for inspiration on how to come up with what kind of powers you want to incorporate into the world, etc. It makes me so happy to you took the time to look into it! I am a HUGE superhero nerd! X-men, Teen Titans, MCU, Arrowverse, DCU shows—I've had hyperfixations everywhere so I just kind of bundled up all my knowledge into a Thanos-level glove to use when I can for the EM universe because it's my baby. Though if I were to compare it, I'd fall most closely related to the X-men because they dealt with a lot of discrimination-based things that to young me was FASCINATING. It's why this universe basically revolves around it since human nature has always been the most fascinating thing to me. Man, I love psychology. Anyway, sorry for the rant, you got me very excited.

Hindsight: My thoughts on Loki (2021)

As always, thanks for being here my friends. There’s definitely more nuanced discussion of this show, but I’m here for the vibes. Anyways, here’s my thoughts on Episode 3 of Loki. Bear in mind I hadn’t watched episode 4 before I wrote the review for 3. No hate on anyone/thing, it’s all my opinion.

Episode 3: LAMENTIS

Sylvie’s powers have limits. She can’t search someone’s mind and take information, she needs them to willingly tell her though she can use her powers to do that.

I love the music as we pan up to the planet. It’s the familiar, anxiety-inducing ticking for me lads.

“You idiot! This is Lamentis - 1.”

“I don’t know what that means!”

My siblings when I can’t restart the router (every country has an AT&T).

I like that it’s a moon that’s inhabited. It’s nearly always the planet, still not great for the people on it.

That slide to get under the dump truck was so smooth.

“So we’re a team now?” Jesus Loki needs friends. Probably a good therapist too.

“Didn’t need your help!”

“You’re so weird!”

I like the way Tom runs. Don’t know why. Just do.

Sidenote, my favourite running form is Chris Evans’.

Sylvie’s magic flickered so I genuinely think the enchantment didn’t work.

“Well then I’ll cut it out.” I like the way she says that. I am questioning so many things rn.

“Just because I have to work with you doesn’t mean I wanna hear your voice.” It’s ironic since they spend so much time talking about themselves.

“Alright, well, slow down… Variant.” They really play off each other’s egos to find weaknesses.

“You don’t know what you want.” Sylvie’s more straightforward in everything she does. She efficiently points out Loki’s flaws but when it comes to a goal, she’s meticulous.

“...just walk away.” Loki stops walking, but Sylvie does walk away. There is distance between them (for now).

I’ve had experience with mining towns like this one and whilst they weren’t so out-of-this-world (ya know) there is a tendency for rural and isolated communities to struggle with old/not maintained infrastructure. This is not everywhere, but it’s not uncommon from what I know. Even though these towns are a source of wealth, there isn’t distribution of the money and it’s a grim reality that’s being shown. I appreciate it.

The shot of them walking past a slab of that planet towards the hut is incredible. Wow.

The person in there is just waiting for their death. I’m going to be addressing a lot of the harsh realities in this episode folks so it won’t be so cheerful.

I understand that people weren’t so happy with this being a filler episode, but I think they got it right. It’s strange that a literal planet-moon collision doesn’t bring the tension that the hurricane did in the last ep, but by having an atmosphere that wasn't so omnius, they conveyed (to me at least) that hope was already lost. In the Roxxcart Disaster, the people believed that it wasn’t going to be the end. There’s desperation on Lamentis - 1 but as Sylvie said, the collapse of society occurs. That’s a large group of people realising that class divides will cause slaughter. It’s greed portrayed in two different ways, one being the integration of excessive capitalism into society, the other being social structure based on oppression. Not everyone’s reading into Loki like this but it’s a change from how Marvel usually approaches conflict.

We learnt about the characters and whilst I’m not a fan of when a plot line is moot (my bet is that Loki and Sylvie will be rescued next ep, making all the attempts to get off Lamentis - 1 pointless), it’s necessary for the characters to develop. The way Loki and Sylvie end up on Lamentis - 1 makes sense and the plot doesn’t feel forced.

“It’s remarkable that you made it as far as you did.”

Devils is recurring in this episode. Maybe this has implications on future episodes?

“Which one was that, diplomacy?” Why are their interactions so funny?

I don’t think I need to comment on the significance of the train station scene.

I would like to acknowledge that though this is good writing that’s relevant in the time it was released, we shouldn’t forget it’s coming from large corporations who aren’t perfect.

How do they just walk past the line?

The people who snitched were right in front of them.

Did the cat get Loki’s silvertongue? That was the most graceless lying I’ve ever seen.

Sylvie not sitting with her back to a door makes sense, but why won’t Loki go backwards on a train? They both have little quirks.

“That’s not a plan. That’s just doing a thing.” Loki went to the Thor school of planning, it’s Get Help all over again.

Loki’s exaggerated nods at the other guards lol.

Sylvie growls whenever she’s mad, it’s hilarious.

The close ups of their faces when the conversation gets personal and isn’t just trading jabs is great for conveying the authenticity of their answers.

Loki not pressing Sylvie when she clearly didn’t want to talk about what happened to her mother is something I appreciated.

Here’s to Tom for having to do magic for more than 10 years now. He’s so serious, I can only imagine how funny it is without the effects.

“Well she did.” Yeesh, has Loki gotten time to grieve?

Sylvie is genuinely impressive.

“Pity the old woman chose to die.”

“She was in love.”

I don’t quite understand what they were talking about then, I guess we’ll find out later?

Loki, why are you so unnecessarily dramatic?

I laughed. Who am I kidding, they’re dorks and I love them.

Loki is trying to find out anything, anyone who could be used against Sylvie.

Here’s to the postman, they’re probably dead but we appreciate Sylvie’s happiness anyways.

Sylvie’s eyes shift nervously to the door and then back to Loki. She’s initially tense but she relaxes slightly though she knows she’s gonna have to clean up the mess.

“Nobody cares. It’s the end of the world.” Again, Loki’s headspace is one where existence is futile.

The green walls contrast the purple lighting nicely.

You can see plants (?) from the outside if you look out the windows. Talk about attention to detail.

Bruh what is the dagger about? Drunk Loki’s a comedic genius.

Sylvie’s smile when she goes to attack is animalistic. I’d like to see her character explored more in terms of how she views violence.

“You’re right. I’m a god.” Loki’s defense mechanism is to state that his motives are above the understanding of others.

“You’re a clown.” Sylvie tells it as it is.

Loki and Sylvie’s reactions to the TVA contrast the most here. Sylvie is potentially motivated by vengeance or a need for revenge whilst Loki has resigned to numbing the pain (for now at least) as he comes to terms with his reality. The question of what drives you is so important for these characters, I’m excited to see whether they’ll find a common ground and wreak havoc on the sacred timeline.

Loki and Sylvie both struggle with communicating in a healthy way. Sylvie calls him out on his directionlessness and Loki tells her what may be the harsh reality of her plan. Neither of them are willing to accept it, but there’s potential for a strong bond if they do.

I love the colour of Loki’s pants.

Problem? Solution! Do thing! Is Sylvie’s method of thinking when all is lost.

Gosh I love the shots in this episode.

“That’s a pretty good life.” Sylvie’s definitely not lived as a royal, or not from what she remembers.

“I just need to know if I can trust you.” Sylvie giving up how she enchants people is an olive branch because as useful as the things that Loki told her may have been for manipulation, they both know the importance of her upper hand. But she only relents once Loki doesn’t have the TemPad. Later, when she asks whether she can trust Loki, it’s more of a reassurance because he’s already been vulnerable around her.

The actor’s body language and facial expressions are incredible. Loki’s eyebrow’s furrow slightly when Sylvie mentions C-20’s mind but Tom takes a second for the information to be processed rather than instantly reacting to Sophia’s next line. She does the same when Loki talks about the TVA workers being created. What skilled people they are.

The city is a wonderful piece of set design.

“We do, and you can.” They step into the light, neither of them have tunnel vision and are able to see a bigger picture.

“They’re gonna let these people die.” This show explores a side of Loki we haven’t seen before, his morality and compassion. He has grey areas that could be explored in the next season. It also points back to how Sylvie and Loki differ in their view of others. I think this is partially because of their childhoods. Loki was raised as a prince and cared about his people, but Sylvie doesn’t share that perspective (“...they usually survive”), maybe because of her past. Hopefully in the upcoming episodes we’ll get a bit more of her backstory.

That sequence is beyond words. The constantly rotating and revolving camera really hammers home that it’s a disorienting fight for their lives at the end of the world. I’m speechless, just watch it.

The music in that blue-purple-pink club was banging tho.

Loki and Sylvie’s posture, facial expression and general body movement is similar. The variant point is hammered home here.

It’s interesting how Loki is in shock/denial of the Ark being destroyed whereas Sylvie immediately leaves.

The end music of this episode is beautiful. I love how it all builds to leave us on the soft tones of Dark Moon.

No one’s interested, but my mum and I bonded over the Jim Reeves version of this song and the Bonnie Guitar one.

Ep 3 review

Short episode with not much going on other than character development. However, if the first two were anything to go by, this episode will have greater implications on the plot. The pacing of this show is a bit strange, but we may see this change in the next season.

I mentioned previously that it would be a shame if the entire plot of this episode was made irrelevant by how they get off Lamentis - 1 next ep. This show has been really good at keeping us on our toes with the writing so they probably won’t take turns that have been speculated.

there’s also the so-blind issue of never feeling like you “belong” anywhere because you’ve been excluded from social groups too many times during of your childhood. it’s a sore spot i guess but as you get older you learn to get used to it and stop caring about it so much.

What do you like about your type the most and what do you like the least: 

MBTI- I looove Se. so much. and I love the interplay between Ti and Se; makes you a pretty handy person to have around. As for what I dislike: lower Ni is.....a trip. Inferior Fe is...hmm.

Enneagram- like I said above, I like the emotional intelligence and ~~aesthetique~~ of 4. 5 is great because of its inquisitiveness and thirst for knowledge, and I like the high standards my 1 fix gives me. and...we all know Sx/sp is the best variant stack.

That being said, 4 also gives me the tendency to be whiny and arrogant, 5 makes me an Actual hermit (and disintegration to 7 is........hairy), and those same high standards from 1 can sometimes be straight up unreasonable, yet I barely feel the need to change them. Dom Sx is good except for when you lose interest in something and get intensely swept up into your next interest...and then it happens again in a few weeks, and then again....eventually you might return to it but it’s exhausting sometimes.

Okay I think those who are saying that he is treating ugly of his fans and rubbing the relationship in their face are a bit overreacting. Lemme say that _it could be worse_. And sorry I won't describe this the worst variant. But that doesn't changed the fact that everything just changed a lot and he got his career a bit down. I mean remember where he started from? Peter Pan was the best of his roles, how many fans have been supporting him, such a CRAZY amount. (Part 1)

Then Heroes Reborn - a really big project either. I even don’t mention PoTC. He met lots of nice actors and people. He _was_ really famous. And what’s now? Come on someone really cares about this No Postage Necessary or Burning at the Both Ends? I have no idea who made the poster and trailer of NPN but even _I_ would make them better. It seems like so amateur work of the person who just opened Photoshop or videoeditor. Absolutely UNINTERESTED (part 2) As soon I heard his Locating Silverlake role is more like a side project then a serious one. Everything left - the Blood Fest - more or less wide-scale project including a star guy from SM: Homecoming. But it’s still not enough to stop thinking that his career got so much regress. And it’s sad because in my opinion he deserved much better than such a “career” and such a girlfriend. (part 3) Before keeping saying my own opinion I possibly must note that I’m 25 years old I have a boyfriend and I’m one of those silent followers of him who have been following his development since Peter Pan times. Actually and ironically no one cares about No Postage Necessary but it is this project that brought so called Kerry in his life. I don’t know maybe he feels happy about it or thankful but I still think that Kerry had bad influence on him. And the reason is - yes - he is her rebound. (part 4) And moreover - her way to feel herself younger. That’s typical for the woman of her age. And oh my god she is afraid so much that he leaves her. This situation made me lol. She is following him like a loyal dog. She followed him to Paris, he followed him to Austin even though he most of all didn’t expect that (so he wouldn’t post that “I’m gonna miss” post). She is hysterically answering his fans that NO ONE CARES ABOUT AGE even though that _she knows the opposite_. (Part 5) And all of we can understand that Robbie is still the boy not a man. He tries to be the man so hard but having older girlfriend won’t make him one. He thinks he is old and cool enough but come on guy get yourself a brain. I hope he can make the right decisions in the future because _he deserves better_. And I won’t be hating on Kerry just because she is 34 - nope, the reasons are much deeper. That’s all from me now, I may be telling something in the future looking at how the drama will develop.

I don’t think I’m overreacting at all, anon. In fact, it’s literally how things are. If you truly need, I can get some screenshots of him being rude to fans. And you can’t really say he doesn’t rub their relationship in our faces. It’s bluntly obvious to anyone who pays attention. 

But yes, a lot has changed since the Pan era. I loved the Heroes Reborn era. The show may have not been the best but holy damn, I almost love Tommy as much as Pan. Robbie was amazing and that character was just SO PRECIOUS. I miss the feeling of getting excited for a new HR episode every week and being excited to gif Tommy’s new scenes. 

His newest projects are definitely low-budget films and very under the radar, which is a shame. But the good news is, at least he’s getting some roles. And when he applies for larger projects, he has all of these on his resume (idk how acting shit works ignore me). Sometimes I wish Marvel would just call him up to be a villain or something lmao. He deserves big roles. 

I agree that Kerry, from the looks of things, has been a bad influence. But I can’t be 100% sure, since none of us (1) know Robbie and (2) know Kerry. From our perspective, yes, things have changed and not for the best. I do think she’s doing it (whatever ‘it’ is) to feel younger and she is definitely following him everywhere. I’ve only been in a relationship for 7 months but god, if you have to travel everywhere with them because you’re scared, then there’s no trust in the relationship. And if there’s no trust, it’s not worth it.

Whatever decisions he makes, we can’t influence. It’s his life (but we’re allowed to hold opinions over those decisions).
