💜Dr. Cortex + R. Marie Wedding Headcanons💛

This ended up getting pretty long but here are a few headcanons that my half-awake brain could scrape together >w< Give it a read if you like, and it's ok to reblog as well! 💜💛💜💛

First of all, no question in my mind that Cortex would be a TOTAL control freak with the wedding. Dare I say, a bit of a bridezilla 😂 I just imagine him barking orders at assistants throughout everything, even on the days and weeks leading up to the wedding when preparations are still being made

Our venue would be one of the halls of the castle, maybe even a ballroom if there are any

For wedding outfits, R. Marie would have a white tuxedo with black accents and have her hair put up. Cortex would have a poofy dress with a similar color scheme, white and black accents, and would definitely have a lot of sparkle to it. He enjoys the flashiness on our big day, I'm sure uwu

Although our guests would mostly consist of the assistants who work under us and are required to attend (lest they be met with consequences), all of Cortex's mutant animal children- er, I mean henchmen, would be in attendance of their own volition. I like to imagine Tiny Tiger being the one to walk Cortex down the aisle, he is daddy's favorite after all 💖

N. Tropy, N. Brio and N. Gin would also be there by choice as well, altho I'm sure that N. Brio was one step away from not showing up. N. Gin would probably be bawling his eyes out, but only because he wishes he was the one marrying Cortex 😂

When it comes time to deliver vows, they would be ones written out ourselves. I get a strong feeling that Cortex's would end up getting a bit flowery in wording and long-winded, and maybe focus a bit too much on himself, but the important thing is that the love would definitely be felt, and the joy in his voice would make that love more than obvious as well.

R. Marie, on the other hand, would be a bit more stoic; ever the professional, she would read out her vows as if she were delivering a presentation, but that would 100% be just a facade to keep her cool, because on the inside she'd be doing FLIPS about everything going on that day. That facade of hers would slip often, of course, and no time being more apparent than when she makes the mistake of looking up at Cortex during the reading of her vows, and realizing that her words have become caught in her throat 💖

Once the vows are read and the rings are presented (a shining gold ring for R. Marie and dark onyx ring for Cortex), it would finally be time for the two to share a kiss and seal the pact forever. That kiss would be a rare one for the two, as it would be gentle, slow, and quiet; it would be one for savoring, for taking in the moment, for taking in each other.

As the two pull away, there wouldn't be any words exchanged, or even any extreme expressions- just a general look of joy and bliss on both of their faces as the fact that they've become linked in matrimony, binded for life and even beyond it, fully sinks in for them. And both of them realize, they wouldn't rather be anywhere else in that moment. 💜💛

Does the end-pin of Marly's cello look a little bent? He'll see if he can get it fixed, and will even see if there's a luthier (instrument fixing person) who can do it. The seams in her coat look a little wonky? Catch him at the right time and you'll see him patching that up. Mordecai isn't the biggest fan of physical touch, but thingz such as holding Marly's hand in a crowded area to keep her nearby are sooooo oughhhhgg

FOR VIKTOR: Words of affirmation and physical touch!!! Yeah if you can't tell I can't pick just one I am HUH????? Anywayz!!!! Words of affirmation, he likez giving them and receiving them! He def givez hella good praise, just hearing him happy is sooooooooooooooo ngbgbhggbygbbg and receiving!! Watch Marly list everything she lovez about him and hoollaayyy moollaayy blud is melting ong!!! And assuring him that he isn't a burden due to his physical shortcoming,,, and how amazing he is ough wordz are sooooo wordy yeah mhm!!! AND PHYSICAL TOUCH? BRO YOU HAVE NO IDEA??? At first like pre-dating stage, Viktor would sometimes tap Marly's foot with his cane. Whether it be in a playful manner, if he feels something is off about a certain situation, or just to get her attention when he wants it. Established relationship? DONT GET ME STARTED!!!! the two of them are sooo touch starved it is crayzee,,, while Viktor may be a bit shy with physical affection, so marly may have to be the one to start off, but oh my god they are sooooo fr w/ physical touch!! Whether it be small things like holding onto one another's hand/arm while walking, Marly kissing Viktor's beauty marks, or full on cuddling on the couch, they love it all!!!!!!!!

FOR MORDECAI: No pets!! Was originally thinking of giving them something but then I was like "they are catz" so nevermind!! Feral animals exist in the Lackadaisy world AND there are photoz of Mordy with one of those yappy dogz (I'll get a photo lmbo). But honestly I think Mordecai would think that a pet is too unsanitary for his taste. Maybe one day they'll get like,,, a fish or smth!!!!

FOR VIKTOR: BRO,,, BRK,,,, if I look at the overall Martor lore, they've had two catz!! The first when they were both Academy Students, pre-arcane plot and also during season 1 kinda. A Siamese cat named Sage!!! Not gonna say what happenz to her tho 😈,,,, and a second one named August!! A silly guy,,, not gonna say much Abt him either,, yet mwhwhwhwh!!!!!!!! They also have this bird creature thing called 'Blird' hez hella funny I love BLIRD!!!!!! 8. Narrative or dialogue? 

Both. Definitely both. I love writing both and I love reading both, and it’s always kind of the goal in the back of my mind to try to seamlessly weave the two together until you can hardly tell them apart. Do I succeed? No, lol.

7. Music, ambient noise, or silence?

It really depends on my mood and, like, time of day? Weirdly? If I get to write in the early morning I’m far more likely to just work in silence. Any other time I like some background noise, but nothing with words as they can be distracting. Lately I’ve been listening a lot to a combo of a noise generator for ‘office sounds’ (and then I manually boost the room tone and clock sounds) and a synthwave radio stream on youtube over top. It’s nice 👍

15. What is your favorite detail to include while writing?

I’m glad this got asked again because I have another way I want to answer it 😅 I love to include details only as they become relevant. I’m very story/plot driven (mostly, I think. I hope) in my writing so I don’t want to spend a lot of time painting a picture of the setting, or the clothes, or things like that. I figure the reader’s imagination can do most of the heavy lifting there. But if there’s something important to the story? That’s, well, a different story. I don’t think I’m clever enough to bury details for the purposes of foreshadowing, and I don’t ever want to trick or mislead a reader, so when something becomes relevant, that’s when I’ll try to bring it up.

One of my favourite authors is really good at this, I think. In one book, you don’t even learn the main characters name (it’s written in 1st person) until like 40 pages in and her name and nickname become relevant to the story. I love it!
