Big Boss let out a tired sigh, a faint smile playing at the edge of his lips as he glanced over at Kaz. The weight of the words hung in the air between them, but instead of anger or frustration, there was only a weary amusement in his eyes. “You always did have a way with words, Kaz,” he muttered, shaking his head slightly as if accustomed to these emotional outbursts. It wasn’t the first time Kaz had expressed something like this, and Big Boss knew it wouldn’t be the last. The bond between them ran deeper than anything Kaz’s words could capture, even when the sentiment came across in the most twisted ways.

For a moment, Big Boss just stood there, his gaze softening as he looked at his old friend. There was a kind of affection in his exhaustion, like a parent who’d long accepted the quirks of their child. “It’s not your fault,” he said, his voice low, the edge of a chuckle almost escaping. He didn’t have the energy to fight Kaz’s intensity, nor did he want to. After everything they had been through together, the highs and the lows, there was an unspoken understanding between them. The world had taken its toll on both of them, but through it all, they remained connected, even in their unhealthy obsessions.

Big Boss stepped closer with a small shake of his head, resting a hand on Kaz’s shoulder for just a moment. It wasn’t much, but it was enough to convey what words couldn’t. “We’ve both been through worse,” he said, the weariness still there but laced with something warmer, a fondness that he didn’t always let show. “Let’s not start blaming each other now.” The remark was half serious, half teasing, but filled with a quiet affection that only someone like Kaz could understand.
