Why the Llama Incident works
The noodle incident is a trope done in A LOT of shows (PNF has a whole TV tropes page dedicated to its noodle incidents). Technically getting disowned and raised by ocelots is a noodle incident in pnf... we never do know what gets him officially disowned and how he ends up in the care of the ocelots). The noodle incident is meant to just showcase that this character has a history of some sort.
Generally speaking, explaining a noodle incident is a bad idea because the unknown has infinite potential. The intrigue is part of what makes it interesting. People can come up with ideas that are absolutely out there themselves. Usually, coming up with something that will live up to the hype is impossible because the hype of the event has built it up to impossible levels.
Emphasis on the usually.
They literally called it a llama incident. They knew what a noodle incident was, and were purposefully playing with our expectations that it would be an unrevealed event. And, as I said before, PnF has already dealt with its fair share of noodle incidents that go unexplained.
And as a noodle incident it served its purpose. Generally a noodle incident will provide context on what the status quo is without spelling out the details. In Rollercoaster the Juggling Monkey's noodle incident tells us that this is not the first time Phineas and Ferb have had a Big Idea (in fact we never do get what Phineas and Ferb's first Big Idea was). In Milo Murphy's Law the Llama incident tells us that Milo and Melissa were getting into Murphy's Law shenanigans long before Zack came into the picture. Showing us that they're so familiar with each other that situations that might require more context to another person doesn't.
Now bear with me as I go on a bit of a tangent that I promise is related.
The main cast of Milo Murphy's Law is a trio, and one of its members is defined by being the new guy. Zack is kind of an audience surrogate. Melissa is Milo's childhood friend and Milo has lived with this all his life. Generally, they don't need to explain anything to each other, nor do they need to explain anything to their class who is already at least passingly familiar with Milo. But they do to Zack.
I don't necessarily think MML NEEDED the audience surrogate character per se. Quite frankly I think audience surrogate characters are rarely necessary. You can always just start with a group of friends and fill in context via implication. I think it's just significantly harder, because you run the risk of alienating your audience by not allowing them to get settled in what is going on or having your characters talk about things like they don't already know what is going on.
But I don't think its at all an inherently bad storytelling method. I personally find outsider POVs delightful, and a good audience surrogate character is an outsider POV, at least at the start. Zack being new to the whole Murphy's Law allowed him a story about choosing to engage with the hazardous kid, winning him loyal friends and a set of skills he never would have dreamed of before. We get to see him grow, and we wouldn't have seen that if he was Milo's friend the whole time.
On the other hand he also has a bit of a wild background, as the former lead singer of a locally famous lumberjack themed boy band. Which gives Milo and Melissa the chance to join a band. Or for Milo to have a real birthday party. A change in status quo provides opportunities for growth and change, for the whole cast, which is useful in more overarching stories... like MML. It's not NECESSARY of course. Zack could have been a classmate that had always kept his distance before he accidentally got tangled up with Milo and decided he was cool. But there's nothing wrong with him being straight up new either.
And at the most basic level, Zack's complete unfamiliarity provides a nice contrast to Melissa's familiarity and Milo's day to day life. Zack is starting from 0 while Milo has been dealing with this every single day of his life.
So Zack isn't going to know what the Llama Incident is. And while noodle incidents being unexplained is fun for the audience, it isn't going to be so fun for someone who is constantly living with people who know what this Llama Incident is. Of course they could have told Zack the noodle incident off screen, it would have made for a good gag to cut into the story with Melissa and Milo finishing telling Zack the story. But instead, we are treated to an episode that has Zack really beginning to slot into his life as Milo's friend.
Back to the main point.
MML is one of the only shows with enough sheer chaotic energy that it could actually pull off making a group of seemingly unrelated references into a cohesive genuinely interesting story. The whole show is things that could feasibly be noodle incidents, which makes it easy to get a baseline for what could have happened. Milo uses stuff in strange ways all the time, getting tangled up with weird animals and ending up in strange situations. There's no REAL reason to feel like we're missing out on too much. It sounds like a normal Milo situation, just with only him and Melissa... and the fact they keep bringing it up.
And really, if you think about it, its just Planned in Advance Meapless in Seattle. Meapless in Seattle was meant to be a bunch of unrelated clips meant to be a noodle incident of sorts. We wouldn't know what exactly would go down in that fake episode. But they managed to bring everything together into a really fun episode that made sense and honestly lived up to the hype. (At least for me). I mean. They somehow made it work. That's a feat in of itself.
The episode "Llama Incident" starts out implying a completely different noodle incident. We never learn how the kids end up on that branch. That's not important. That stuff happens all the time. Is the Llama Incident more interesting than the other stuff Milo gets into? Not particularly, but it DID involve him using more stuff he didn't normally use.
And the Llama Incident is told in the format of a story. Changing up the format of the episode is always a good way to make an episode feel fresh. I mean, look at The Remains of the Platypus. It's just an episode told backwards but its delightful chaotic fun. Or Delivery of Destiny. Really the only difference is the day follows the perspective of a delivery guy, but we get all our normal plot beats. But both are some of my favorite Phineas and Ferb episodes. If you remove their gimmicks they're pretty basic. Phineas and Ferb build a cheese themed amusement park, and Doofensmirtz's plan is only slightly more novel with brainwashing Perry. Phineas and Ferb building a ride and Doof juicing city hall are pretty typical of them, but Paul's semi-outsider POV (and being one of the closest characters we get to having the full picture of the story we the audience see), makes it feel fun and fresh. It makes the Llama Incident feel special. Even if it isn't my favorite unique episode format, it's still something fresh and fun.
So Milo and Melissa sort of tell the story a bit out of order, because they forget what pieces Zack would and wouldn't have context for or would or wouldn't find interesting. And, again, it's told as a story to Zack, so he asks questions. It's told while they are hanging from a branch, where they cut back to every once and a while to remind us that hey, the group is in the middle of a whole other Murphy's Law incident. We're getting two for one today.
But through the episode we get a bit of a Zack character arc. We've already established that Melissa and Milo are used to this, even if you weren't aware the way they were casually rating it at the beginning of the episode should tell you all you need to know. But Zack isn't completely used to this yet, so he's just nervous. He spends the episode using the story as a distraction, but being genuinely invested. In the end, the story acts as an inspiration to Zack, and he's able to help the group get out of the situation. AND for his trouble, he gets his own mysterious incident to reference. After half a season, he's truly part of the group now. He will continue to grow of course, trying to become braver and cleverer, and he's already made strides since the first episode. But even if Zack isn't really any less part of the group before or after its still a significant moment in Zack's character arc.
And then the Llama Incident comes back the next episode. The date was memorable to Milo, even throughout all of the other chaos in his life. And sometimes that's just how life is. And he uses his knowledge of the event, the way it stuck in his mind, to save him, Dakota and Cavendish from Pistachion's in Missing Milo. What we thought was going to just be a noodle incident, a running gag that functioned to establish just how used to this stuff Milo and Melissa were, turned out to be a plot point. To be fair we didn't NEED to know what the Llama incident was for Milo to choose to go there. We didn't need to know about the Llama Incident to know it was typical Murphy's Law shenanigans. It could have just been more out of context llama stuff. But now we the audience are in on the joke, so when Cavendish and Dakota express confusion, we can revel in the fact we know something they don't. Especially about two characters who themselves were slow revealing information about themselves to us... sure by that point we know their deal but at one point they were as mysterious and out of context to us as the Llama incident. And now we know what the Llama Incident is, and what their deal is.
The Woodpecker incident also is vaguely referred to later with the woodpecker whistle. We may not know the full story there, but it is still satisfying to see Milo's adventures giving him the skills and tools to deal with bigger, actually hostile, threats.
And at the end of the day, even if the Noodle Incidentness of the Llama Incident is ruined, it was immediately replaced with the Woodpecker incident. Which admittedly is never mentioned, but it doesn't need to be. The point of the Llama Incident was to draw attention to a specific incident to make a gag out of it. But they have incidents all the time. And we're privy to most of them. We sometimes get references to other incidents that we never fully get the context for. But we don't need context. We know how it'll go anyway because we have a whole show of effective noodle incidents.

Wait actually can we talk about Leaflings real fast. Because. What the actual fuck.
Also sorry if I curse a lot more here than usual but like 90% of my genuine reactions to this topic is "what the FUCK" so uhh get used to it I guess.
Huge thanks to @saihahas for helping me with some image transcripts as well.
Major story spoilers below you have been warned. Ok let's go.
So you're able to just rise from the dead in pikmin 4. No, seriously. You can do that.
At the end of Olimar's side story we get this scene and associated line:
Tumblr media
[Image transcript: White text on a black screen that says "But at that very moment, my life support system failed" END TRANSCRIPT]
Like. He died. His life support system failed. He DIED. And moments later, he was revived as a leafling. He died and came back from the dead. Like, what the fuck????
It even fixed up his injuries he got prior to becoming a leafling. Just a full on revival.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Image transcript (one leads into the other naturally)
Collin: By the by, Olimar, is there anything you remember from right before or after you became a leafling? Any additional details?
Olimar: Not particularly. It didn't feel bad or anything like that. In fact, it was quite revitalizing.
Olimar: My chronically stiff shoulders and all the injuries I'd sustained during my explorations healed immediately.
Yonny: Hmm... Perhaps leafification has highly restorative effects...
Yonny: This is definitely something worth looking into, eheheh. END OF TRANSCRIPT.
Now we don't know if everyone who was a leafling had to die before hand, though there is a common thread that they were at least unconscious... And had just escaped deadly situations... I think Olimar found them moments before they died and, not knowing any other way to save them, leafed them as well. Something they bear no ill will towards him for - in fact, they're thankful for him.
Tumblr media
Image transcript:
Jin: When I was leafified, I could not stop thinking about the art of Dandori. It was like an endless meditation.
Jin: A leafling appeared in front of me after the ship crashed and I had used up all of my flagging energy.
Jin: My intuition told me they were not a bad person. I also felt as though they were determined to achieve something
Jin: I am afraid I do not recall much of what happened after that, as I lost consciousness. END TRANSCRIPT.
Tumblr media
Image transcript:
Corgwin: I was attacked by a creature, and right before I lost consciousness, I saw something overhead. It was a leafling
Corgwin: They had such sad eyes, but there was more going on in there. Their eyes were full of determination.
Corgwin: I have to believe there is a reason why they do what they do. Turning castaways into leaflings, I mean.
Corgwin: Your time is limited, so think it through! END TRANSCRIPT.
Tumblr media
Image transcript:
Bernard: You need anything else?
Bernard: Even when Olimar was leafed out, he was still trying to RESCUE folks!
Bernard: And there I was with my head focused on nothing but Dandori stuff. HOO, he's one tough cookie!
Bernard: You need anything else? END TRANSCRIPT.
Ok Bernard's conversation doesn't add to the "he found them in deadly situations" point but it DOES show that all of his "victims" think highly of him for the fact that he had saved them and others. (Also, side note, Olimar had sad eyes... Poor bastard thought he was never going home to his wife and kids, was visibly depressed over this, and STILL was trying to save people. Olimar is like, genuinely such a good fucking person God damn.)
Now being a leafling is undead and comes with its own slew of problems. Namely, the fact Dandori takes over your brain (probably the pikmin survival instinct) and the fact you can no longer leave PNF-404. It's not even an air thing, it's not being on the planet that causes sickness, so not even spacesuits can fix it.
But then you're able to cure yourself of being a leafling. And just. Go back? To your normal life?????? Like nothing ever happened. You died and came back. What the fuck.
And to make that point worse. One of the key ingredients is Glow Sap. Which is produced by the Luminknolls. The only other thing the Luminknolls make is uh. Glow pikmin. Which.
“Although they've been named Glow Pikmin, it's not entirely clear whether or not this species is actually a type of Pikmin. These creatures possess the same fundamental behaviors of Pikmin, like carrying things, propagating, and fighting. They also share special characteristics, such as the leaf atop their head. Yet they do not spawn from an Onion but a Lumiknoll, and they are only active at night or underground. During the day, they revert into seeds and enter a resting state. What's even more surprising is that they exhibit no signs of life. When a Glow Pikmin "dies," if that word can even be used, it does not expire in the typical sense. Instead, it just becomes a form of light-or perhaps a photon-and returns to the Lumiknoll. Putting aside my "scientist" hat for a moment...it seems to me that this creature or entity may not be a living organism at all but some manner of spiritual substance.”
Tumblr media
[Image Transcript: a screenshot of the Piklopedia showing the very end of the above quote. END TRANSCRIPT]
And just as some icing on the cake:
Tumblr media
[Image transcript: Louie's piklopedia notes on the glow pikmin. All it says is "Doesn't smell alive." END TRANSCRIPT]
Cool they're fucking ghosts. Sorry I can't be convinced otherwise, they're clearly some sort of supernatural entity at MINIMUM. I just think spirit is most likely. They don't have to be the spirits of dead pikmin... Although... You can convert a Glow Pikmin into normal pikmin via a candy pop bud. I've done it before, I have no video of it but you can go and try it yourself if you'd like. And if they are spirits of pikmin then that means that we can also bring pikmin back from the dead. What the FUCK.
Anyways. I got side tracked sorry. My point was the Luminkolls make two things: Glow Sap and Glow Pikmin, which have similar names and similar appearances and. Are we using ghost juice to cure leaflings???? Which is used to reverse all negatives of being leafed. Which can be used to bring the dead back to life.
I don't know how to end this. I really really don't know how to end this. I just need someone else to scream about this with because it's so. It's so fucking WEIRD like what the hell. It's not enough that they may be humans, noooo, there's also undead creatures (excluding the mushroom guys those freaks have an explanation at the very least). This game is weird as hell but tbh I love it.

Heritage Theory is Canon
I rise back from the dead (read: college kicking my ass) to say that MY THEORY WAS JUST CONFIRMED CANON. Look at the Japanese website:
Tumblr media
Image transcript: The ruins and treasures of this planet, although different in size, are somehow similar to those we know, and sometimes even feel nostalgic. According to "The Shepard Complete History" written by the successive rescue team captains, the ancestors of the Kagiya [Giya] planet came from a "beautiful blue planet". If that was the planet PNF-404, we may have returned to our mother planet after a long time.
I WAS LITERALLY WORKING ON AN UPDATED VERSION OF MY THEORY POST WHEN THIS WAS POSTED.
I WAS RIGHT YA'LL.
I don't think I'll upload that updated version of the post, as it is (a) mostly unfinished and (b) kinda pointless now! Just know that evidence also comes from (all in Pikmin 4/related material):
Other parts of this same site
Olimar's notes on the Buddy Display, Heroic Shield, and Memory Fragment (Center Right)
A conversation you can have with Olimar post-final boss fight
Olimar's notes on the final boss
The Shepherd Family history
Also I want to share some more lore this site brings up. Because it also gives us some juicy Wraith Lore(tm) and some possible explanations for why some ships crash and others don't.
ALSO ALSO: This is all machine translated. If anyone has a human translated version, or is interested in making one, PLEASE let me know so I can reference it instead!
Tumblr media
Image transcript: Consideration 1, small size, it doesn't have the engine power to escape the planet. Consideration 2, entering at a high speed, like a shooting star, it crashed into the planet at high speed.
Basically, the S.S. Beagle is small and entered at a high enough speed to escape the planet's grasp.
Tumblr media
Image transcript: Unlike the space-time of the universe we know, it is believed that each time the stranded person observes the planet, it transitions to a different phase. The changes are so great that it's as if the planet itself has a will of its own.
This comes after a long description of how the planet changes every game. Just for further context.
Tumblr media
Image transcript (with an error fixed for readability): Pikmin are always found near those lost in distress. They are friendly and devoted partners who cooperate with us to achieve our goals. However, isn't this a little too convenient? If the Pikmin are calling for a good leader to ensure the survival of their species and are preventing us from returning, it would be better to think that we are the ones being used. It falls into this category.
I don't think pikmin are evil, FAR from it... but they are still animals, animals that act to survive. You know? If pikmin ARE crashing the ships, then it's no more evil then how bulborbs eat pikmin to survive. Those are my two cents anyways.
Tumblr media
Image transcript: According to Olimar, while inside the Amenyudo's [Plasm Wraith's] body, he dreamed of "giant humans similar to ourselves living with Pikmin and lots of other creatures." In addition, the roller-shaped stones of the Amebouzu [Water Wraith] have been found to contain minerals found in meteorites, which may suggest that they may be involved in the crash of the Dolphin. Perhaps they are dreaming of living with humans again and are causing the spaceship to crash?
WRAITH LORE. Also, note the translation of "human". There's a word on the site that the characters use to refer to themselves collectively, which the machine translator translates as "human". Based on me looking the word up on Jisho, an English-Japanese dictionary, this appears to be correct. However, as I don't know Japanese yet, I'll also clarify that "people" might also be a valid translation.
Anyways. Humans once lived with these weird creatures, wraiths and pikmin included. The wraiths missed us. Please ignore how they're also homicidal towards the starfolk.
Tumblr media
Image transcript: One theory is that the planet meets the definition of a living organism, meaning that it is somehow beckoning us to it, and that everything we experience here is being orchestrated.
Planet is alive.
I have no idea how else to end this off.
But the planet is alive.
And it wants us back.

Ok i cant hold it in or put it in tags. Possible MML Spoilers under read more and this is my whole hearted recommendation for Heinz lovers to watch MML.
Its just. The Murphy's are so, SO good for Heinz
A lot of his prevalence as part of the cast is played for laughs, and 90% of the time, everyone's both annoyed and confused why hes there. Again, not an uncommon reaction to Heinz's general existence and behavior, but it drives me NUTS BECAUSE!!!! As someone who DOES know Heinz's traumatic backstories and genius potential, it makes so much SENSE that he needs it.
He NEEDS the affection and welcome of the Murphy family, who has a high tolerance for his eccentricities and bad luck in order for the Professor Time Line Legendary Do Gooder destiny to HAPPEN. Perry has done a LOT for to shift Heinz from his bitterness and anger and work out his deep pains and help him realize there was more he could try to do besides evil, but people need community. They need help, welcome, affection and to share the load of misfortune in order to truly become the best version of themselves....which is EXACTLY the themes and motifs of MML.
Whenever Heinz calls Martin and Bridgette his parents i have to bite my lip and stare into the distance. Bc i KNOW its being played for "laughs", especially since Heinz even LOOKS older than them. Heinz is pushing 50 (hes 48 in pnf canon), hes divorced with a teenage daughter that's older than Sarah. Its weird and a little off putting, but we're looking this from the perspective of the Murphys, who don't know or arguably don't listen Heinz's backstories. They don't know what Heinz's parents are like. But I do. We all do.
We know why hes jaded and hurt and immature and desperate to understand. We know that the version of Heinz in MML is. In fact. THE MOST STABLE version of Heinz we could possibly achieve. The kindest, least mean, least CLEARLY traumatised, bc his established relationship to Perry CLEARLY implies post pnf canon and that means hes had years in progress working through his self worth and self growth and it makes me want to cry. Heinz tries his absolute BEST as a father despite being divorced, which isn't always that good but Vanessa is healthy and loved....which is a FUCKING MIRACLE considering the kind of fucking role models he had. And his association of Martin and Bridgette as "mom" and "dad" is like. Fuck. Bc HERE are good parents, good people, good FRIENDS and a support group who takes care of him and shows him what its like to be GOOD and loving and supportive and to keep trying and trying and trying. I dont really think Heinz sees them as "his parents", more so he probably calls them that as a knee jerk reaction cus he hangs out with the kids more tham he does but im genuinely SO happy Heinz no longer needs to associate parenthood with fucking ABUSE and PAIN and HEARTACHE.
I dont even know what to say. I dont even know how to BEGIN dissecting Sphere and Loathing. And the DAKOTA AND HEINZ FRIENDSHIP???? UGHHHHHHH THIS SHOW FEEDS ME SO WELL

newly rewritten pikmin wraith headcanons because one theory being confirmed completely destroyed what I had
obligatory disclaimer that this is not canon nor a theory, this is my interpretation and also my pikmin au (but everyone is welcome to use my headcanons 👍)
note that the following are ocs: thermo wraith, the mudwraiths, the ghoulid classification, phantoms, and (technically) the revenant
wraith types
there are two types of wraiths: wraiths without a core and wraiths with a core. (as all wraiths are liquid, each type has two subtypes, cold wraiths and hot wraiths. this only has to do with what a wraith's body is made of. both the waterwraith and plasm wraith are cold wraiths.) coreless wraiths originate from beyond pnf-404 in meteorites, while wraiths with cores originate from pnf-404 itself.
what are wraiths?
all wraiths are souls of sapient beings trapped inside liquids. these souls can never move on to the afterlife as being trapped inside a liquid for hundreds of years corroded them beyond recognition.
wraiths with cores are specifically human souls, and the core is the soul itself as well as the memories from its past life. there are two notable artificial wraiths with cores, those being the plasm wraith and the thermo wraith.
coreless wraiths are souls from alien races that are not humans.
wait, artificial wraiths? how is that possible?
pnf-404, once known as earth, became a living being countless years in the past. the resident humans did not leave the planet for about a hundred years after this apocalyptic incident occurred until the planet was too unstable to be fit for living. this gave human scientists a long time to experiment with the new lifeforms and new laws of nature.
why there are multiple waterwraiths (and mudwraiths)
a giant meteor containing countless trapped souls due to a bizarre mining accident broke up near pnf-404 and the pieces fell to the planet's surface, one by one. as the meteor was full of water, all those souls became multiple waterwraiths.
upon landing, the waterwraiths were significantly weaker than the ones seen ingame, only having a physical form that is easy to destroy. some of these wraiths had their bodies destroyed and were able to go to the afterlife- but due to their souls being corroded they were swiftly rejected and were sent back to the mortal realm, where they gained an odd, invulnerable form. however, they are not entirely stable and gravitational waves will make them temporarily revert to their former form. interestingly, when this body is destroyed too, the cycle will only continue.
mudwraiths are waterwraiths that landed recently enough to have not experienced having their body destroyed (or they may have landed longer ago but got very lucky and avoided danger). they cover themselves in mud or another substance as armour of sorts for protection. interestingly, they outnumber the "reborn" waterwraiths by a vast amount, yet they are seldom seen as they are anxious, shy, and nocturnal.
do ghoulids still exist?
yes! this is just a classification given to all creatures that are not organic/biological (with the exception of glow pikmin and the mechanical creatures, such as man-at-legs).
what about the phantoms?
phantoms are the supernatural equivalent of convergent evolution. they are almost the same as they were (before my headcanons had to change) and have no connection to wraiths, other than being coincidentally similar to wraiths with cores.
phantoms originate from another dimension. they are not trapped souls, but some theorize they may be reincarnations of otherworldly beings. nobody has a single clue as to why they can be found on pnf-404 in the first place, and the phantoms themselves don't seem to know either.
what about the revenant?
pnf-404 will still be considered the revenant until there's more canon information revealed.
wraith cores and "wraithstuff"
wraiths with cores are notably stronger than coreless wraiths due to their ability to regenerate; their bodies are impossible to destroy. the core, while being the soul and memories of the wraith, constantly generates a substance known as "wraithstuff". this substance is an extension of the core and is bound to the liquid that makes up the wraith's body.
in coreless wraiths, "wraithstuff" is the soul itself.
glow pikmin, glow sap, and what they have to do with wraiths
glow pikmin are extremely similar to wraiths. their bodies consist of glow sap with a pikmin soul within, yet they retain some features of still-living pikmin such as eyes and a stem. they are able to fuse their bodies together into an amorphous ball to perform a powerful attack known as a glowmob. however, despite the similarities, glow pikmin are not wraiths.
glow sap affects wraiths differently than organic beings. while it is still unknown what exactly happens, being touched by glow sap makes all wraiths react as if it causes them physical pain. wraiths avoid glow sap whenever possible due to this.

"Shepard?"
"Bzzt- Yes, Commander Moss?"
"Start a new log recording will you? I need to settle my thoughts."
Log Number #14 Cycle: 10 Planet: PNF-404
"Despite exhaustion creeping into my very bones, I find myself unable to rest for the night. I need to note what has been happening- to convince myself that I haven't completely lost it... There is something.... strange about this planet, and for each day that passes the feeling grows even stranger. Small mistakes like misplaced items, something that Oatchi and I are very careful not to do- We have been rescuing for how many years and all of a sudden we can't seem to find where the ropes has been placed? Whatever we lose ends up right back in its proper place hours after we've lost it. Shepard clears it with me each time this happens... Those items have never moved from their spot on the cameras. Our frantic search shows up, all the crew members searching high and low- and we just... don't see them...? ......Ah, I don't know exactly how to explain this one. Oatchi joked that I might be haunted by the glowmin("Some invisible variety we haven't discovered yet!" he said) but I can see it in his face. It's happened to him too. We are all walking around... Something. Stepping to the side in an empty hallway, looking down and over my shoulder as to not bump into...Nothing? I keep feeling like there's something missing on the ship, something I can't quite remember. I've tripled checked my things and asked Shepard to list everything out in our inventory just in case. I just can't shake this feeling that...
Tumblr media
-that I feel like I'm mourning... and for the love of everything, I don't know what. It's maddening.
Tumblr media
I was ready to push it all to the side and continue the mission. The list of castaways only seems to be getting longer and we can't have campfire ghost stories to distract us! That is until I found a log not written by myself in my tablet...... Hmph. See, this is what's stressing me out so. No one but me has access to this tablet, it should be impossible!
Tumblr media
The log is... Well it's creepy! From what I can tell, it's taken phrases from one of our Procedure Manuals("Bzzt- It would be the Distress and Urgency Procedures") and the logs from an unknown writer and spliced them together. I've been trying to make sense of it but- yeah I need the others to see this first. My theories wont help now. I'll have Shepard add it to this log for now, might as well...(sigh) Just what is going on...
Mm, right. I already mentioned this in the End of Day report- but I'm not done rolling this over in my head.
Tumblr media
The castaway we picked up today- the one who limped out of that dark tunnel towards us. His clothing- you don't see pilot gear that old anymore, and the- the liquid? that fell off of him... I sampled what I could so I wont know for sure untill tomorrow, It looked like gold. I hope he wont mind sharing where he found a pool of gold to roll around in. It would be nice to be able to cover the cost of all the repairs... (Yawn) Ah- right there we go, ok I'm done for now. Have to get ready for- 'Everything' tomorrow, hope I don't sound too crazy. This is Commander Moss, Sleeping snug like a bug on a rug... (Yawns again) - - - Log Number: +#3@##0?/ Cycleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Planet: PNF-404

HI. HELLO. I said a while ago that I REALLY wanted to compare up my favourite shows cuz they're both SOOO undderated and here that is
A COMPARISON BETWEEN MILO MURPHY'S LAW AND STRANGE HILL HIGH
Tumblr media Tumblr media
First.. I feel I need to introduce both shows
MML
If you didn't know.. it's made by the creators of and takes place in the same universe as phineas and ferb (it has a crossover too !!).. but as its own show, its SO unique. It follows a boy called milo who suffers from a family curse called Murphy's Law (anything that can go wrong, will go wrong) and his adventures with his friends !! Most of the episodes are just like general shenanigans that follow milo but it does have a plot that is introduced later on :) Also, because its made by the creators of pnf, its got the same humour .. it's really funny
CHARACTERS
The main trio are milo murphy, zack underwood and Melissa chase (in that order on the picture below) and they have a ... pretty standard TV trio dynamic, BUT all of the characters are SO fun and likeable!! Like, for instance, zack was in a regionally famous boyband and other fun things like that :)
Tumblr media
Remember how I said there's a plot introduced later.. yeah, well it's basically created by these geezers (dakota and Cavendish, in that order on the photo below) who are introduced as time travellers set out to save pistachios. They're really funny and also voiced by the shows creators (or the same vas as doofenshmirtz and major monogram). They also REALLY remind me of me and my best friend, which means like ... nothing if you aren't us, but if you have a similar dynamic, it's SO fun to see
Tumblr media
I dont want to spoil the plot much at all but the first season is about time traveland the second is space travel. If I'm honest the 2nd season.. isn't great cuz they made doofenshmirtz a main character but plot wise its still fun (season 1 is amazing tho still nothing tops it to me) so here's a picture from missing milo (one of the main plot episodes in s1)
Tumblr media
And now to..
SHH
I'm gonna be so fr.. I've watched this show since release but have like 0 fandom interactions with it (thats a lie actually i have like 10 but thats not the point) so idk how much introducing it needs (still any is too little to me. imo this show should be standard watching for everyone) so anyway... the show doesn't rlly have a PLOT like all the episodes are stand alone, buutt it does mostly follow Mitchell as he starts at strange hill high and all the insane things that happen there (idk how to explain it cuz of how different every epiosde is but its SO good pls trust me). Its also fully posted on YouTube cuz it's like.. old and cancelled or smth so that's always good (not the cancelled bit tho lol)
CHARACTERS
Just like mml, shh also follows a main trio and has a great side cast. It's trio is becky butters, Templeton and Mitchell tanner (in that order below) and again have a .. pretty standard trio dynamic BUT more like the kind of British TV drama dynamic (.. cuz its set in a british secondary school). I LOVE these geezers SO much and they're just that kind of cast that to this day, I still don't know which one I'm more like
Tumblr media
Because its not got a plot to vaguely explain, I'm going to tell you about my favourite episode 99 things to do with a time machine. It's one of my FAVOURITE episodes from any show ever. I love it. (I think it was also the first shh episode i watched cuz i watched it live on tv first before like.. downloading the whole show in 4 different places). The premise of the episode is that the gang is late for school so Mitchell decides to change the school clock so it doesn't LOOK like they're late. This actually turns back time and they abuse the hell out of this. Here's an image.
Tumblr media
NOW TO THE COMPARISON!!
Ahhh.. this is like the MAIN bit but for 2 shows that are like permanently engraved in my brain its actually challenging me sm to compare them up like this. Why? No clue. Getting people to watch both is literally what I set out to to lmao
Shenanigans
Like I said, most of mml and ALL of shh basically revolve around whatever shenanigans the trio are doing. In mml they're very much unintentional cuz of murphy's law and the episode normally involves doing whatever to overcome the damage. This is more like the opposite for shh. The trio normally end up discovering smth wild going on in their school and mess about with whatever it is. Two examples I chose for this is mmls athledecamathalon, where the pitch gets destroyed and milo helps his sport team win, and sshs first episode, king Mitchell, where the gang discover a Knight who serves mitchell
Tumblr media Tumblr media
These aren't exactly the CLOSEST comparisons I could make .. but you get the idea. VIBE wise they are VERY similar
SETTING
I also want to talk about the setting. Mml takes place all round danville (at different time periods too) and then a planet called octalia by the end of s2. Shh takes place EXCLUSIVELY in the school .. cuz it's puppetry and yk theyd have to actually BUILD a set
CONCLUSION
Ngl tumblr ate the rest of my essay. Twice. (Probably served me right for not having a backup but oh well) and it's kinda annoyed me. I promise you they're so similar is vibe PLEASE watch them both they're great

okay ive got at2d pulled up and i need to tell this story in my rewatch tag before i start the movie.
when this film was announced i was SO incredibly fucking excited. they were going to another dimension and it was A DYSTOPIA. they were going to meet alternate versions of themselves. it was the biggest thing pnf had ever done. i was so excited about this movie i couldn't fucking sleep. when the first teaser dropped i was home alone and i literally ran laps around the living room im not fucking joking.
i dreamt about watching the movie multiple times before it came out. i was always disappointed when i woke up because in my dreams it was always so cool.
on the day it actually premiered, my friend stayed the night and we got pizza. we were running late because little caesers took a long time with our hot and ready for some reason so i missed the first 10 minutes or so and i was so upset.
i watched the movie. and i had a fun time watching it. it was a LOT of fun. BUT DO YOU WANNA KNOW WHAT HAPPENED LATER THAT NIGHT?
I CRIED. FROM DISAPPOINTMENT.
its insane and cringeworthy to think about now but at the time, i had hyped this movie up SO FUCKING MUCH in my head. i was SO EXCITED for it. that i don't think ANYTHING the movie could have been in reality was going to completely satisfy my expectations. i was setting myself up for this and i didnt even realize because my autism had been going so hog wild.
anyway. that's the 2nd most embarrassing thing that's ever happened to me because of my autism. and if i loved phineas and ferb less, maybe i wouldnt have cried LMFAO. of course after that day, i was very into it. i loved the movie then and i love the movie now. it was just the initial autistic child grappling with the fact that the movie was an A and not an A+++.

ok so I've been rotating Pikmin 4 in my brain for the last month or so and I think I've figured out something about the post-game! it's essay time :)
(under read-more for both inherent spoilers and length, bc hoooo boy this got out of hand. no spoilers for anything past the early post-game though!)
So the main reason for the post-game happening in the first place is because Oatchi, who for some reason sprouted a leaf on his tail on the way to Hero's Hideaway, gets sick as soon as the Rescue Corps tries to leave the planet. The same thing happened to Moss when Olimar tried to leave earlier. Seems like everyone who got Leafed™ is stuck on PNF-404 unless they can get de-leafed, for reasons unknown to anyone in-universe.
Tumblr media
But I think I figured out what's going on, and it's not some nefarious plot to get the Pikmin a permanent leader. (Not the 'can't leave the planet' thing, anyway. I don't claim to know how Oatchi got Leafed™ in the first place.) In this essay I will attempt to prove that plants can't breathe in space.
Let's start by looking at some canon facts:
Lemma 1: Aliens Can't Breathe on Earth
PNF-404 is clearly Earth, at an unspecified point in the future (though I believe it to be relatively recent, as detailed in my last essay[1]).
PNF-404's atmosphere is rich in oxygen. Assuming the planet's atmosphere hasn't changed substantially from the Earth we know, approximately 21% of the air is oxygen[2].
Tumblr media
[Data source linked in image: https://nssdc.gsfc.nasa.gov/planetary/factsheet/earthfact.html]
Oxygen is known to be poisonous to Hocotatians, as stated numerous times through the series.
While Koppaites technically can breathe some oxygen, PNF-404 has three times as much oxygen in its atmosphere than Koppai does[3], so Koppaites still need spacesuits to survive on PNF-404.
It is unknown how natives of other planets handle oxygen, but Collin describes it as poisonous, so it appears at least Giyans(?) cannot breathe oxygen. (As Koppaites are also distinguishable by their rounded ears, I suspect oxygen may be poisonous to all pointy-eared castaways.)
Tumblr media
Leaflings, regardless of their planet of origin and contrary to the Rescue Corps' expectations, can breathe in PNF-404's oxygenated atmosphere just fine without helmets. (There's a tangent here I could write a separate essay on, but that's for later.)
Oatchi does not wear a helmet, and can apparently breathe just fine on PNF-404 even before his spontaneous leafification. (This could also lead into its own essay, but suffice to say, his species' origins are unknown in-universe. He was born on Giya, but presumably did not evolve there.)
So basically, if you are a small alien in this world, unless you are a plant or perhaps a dog, you do not want to be exposed to oxygen. Especially not the high concentrations of oxygen on PNF-404.
With that established, we now need to consider real-world biology for a second. There's one more thing to note that isn't discussed in-universe:
Lemma 2: Plants Can Breathe on Earth
Plants need oxygen to live! Not to "breathe" per se, that's not an accurate word for something that doesn't have lungs, but for "aerobic respiration", which at a cellular level is at least one reason why things with lungs breathe, so, close enough for this context.
Plants make their own oxygen while they're photosynthesizing. But when they don't have the light they need to photosynthesize (at night or in other darkness), they take in oxygen from around them to respire with[2][4][5].
Tumblr media
In the context of Pikmin biology, Blue Pikmin in particular are described as "breathing" multiple times, usually in the context of breathing underwater. One log from the US version of Pikmin 3 even has Brittany say they're "extracting oxygen from the water"[6]. The equivalent European localization just says they're breathing, but they do seem to be specifically taking in oxygen in the process.
In summary, though oxygen is lethal to the core cast of castaways, the plant life on PNF-404, Pikmin included, can't live without it!
Thesis: Plants Can't Breathe in Space
We know oxygen is poisonous to both Olimar and most of the Rescue Corps, with the exception of Oatchi. Therefore, they would not want it inside their spaceships! Meaning the air inside the S.S. Shepherd (and S.S. Dolphin) would contain only trace amounts of oxygen, if any at all, during space flight.
Plant life from PNF-404, including Pikmin and adjacent leafy creatures, need oxygen to breathe. They only make their own while photosynthesizing, which requires plenty of light. But space is dark. Most of the light inside the S.S. Shepherd is from distant stars outside and the glowing antennae of helmets. (The cargo hold Moss was in may have been even darker.) That's probably not enough light to photosynthesize…
The leafy space dogs can't leave the planet because every vehicle that tried to take them away from the planet was devoid of oxygen.
Tumblr media
He's suffocating!! ;A;
Counterpoint: Can Aliens Breathe in Space?
Of course, one thing doesn't immediately line up with my conclusion… Even while Oatchi is theoretically suffocating aboard the S.S. Shepherd, everyone else is still wearing helmets, implying there's too much oxygen around them to safely remove them.
Tumblr media
There's probably still some oxygen in the ship — not enough for Oatchi to breathe, but too much for anyone else to breathe. Filtering air doesn't happen instantaneously! And given the severe state of disrepair the S.S. Shepherd was in at the start of the game, being completely out of power, the air filtration systems would have also been shut down. So oxygenated air from PNF-404 was in the ship when they took off, and was in the process of being filtered out as they flew off.
Oatchi's 'symptoms stabilizing' when the S.S. Shepherd stopped flying away might seem to suggest there's something more specifically binding him to the planet… Or the air filtration process might have paused while the ship is stalled, to conserve precious Sparklium energy.
TL;DR: Leafy space-sickness isn't some nefarious Pikmin plot. Plants just can't breathe in space. It's not a feature, it's a bug.

A very early sneak peak at the next Four Riders update:
---
“It’s amazing that no one's discovered PNF-404 before now,” Yonny comments as he watches their descent through one of the side windows. “It didn't take us long to get here, after all. I can't imagine this is outside of every Giyan colony's detection range.”
“Well it did take Olimar's message a month to reach us, based on the data logs we received, maybe the planet has some kind of natural interference!” Collin says, not looking up from his tablet.
“Don't tell me you're still listening to those logs,” Dingo groans. The Rescue Corps had been in transit for around a day, and in that time Collin had devoured the logs like a starving man being handed a plate of food. He had listened through them, transcribed them, made a timeline of events, Dingo was almost certain he had seen a spreadsheet in progress when he passed by a few hours ago.
Collin scratched at his chin with his tablet pen. “I'm telling you, there's something weird going on here.” The communications officer ignores Dingo as he groans and rolls his eyes. “If I'm right, only half of the original logs were sent out with The Transmission. Sure the ones included are informative, but there are crucial details missing!” He turns his screen quickly so Yonny and Dingo can see. “Like for instance, in Entry 58 he mentions someone named Moss, but it's never explained who or what Moss is! For all we know she's a hallucination Olimar dreamed up to cope with the stress!” Collin gesticulates wildly the more he goes on, fuming at the discrepancy.
“Entry 58? Weren't only 20 or so received with The Transmission?” Yonny cuts in.
“Yes!” Collin screams in frustration. “So what happened to the rest?”
“Maybe he just… Couldn't send them out? He was a freight driver wasn't he? Doesn't make sense for them to have Interstellar Radios as advanced as ours.” Collin seems to blue screen at Dingo’s suggestion, his jaw dropping as something seems to click into place.
“If Olimar's radio really wasn't that strong,” Collin looks back down at the tablet, tapping furiously, “then why send out the data logs in the first place? They'd only make it harder to send it out… What do you think, Russ?” When he gets no reply, Collin looks up from his pad and around to search for the Scientist. “Russ?”
As amazing as it is that Russ hadn't jumped into the conversation with all the details of a Hocotatian Frieght ship’s radio specs, Dingo does have to admit it's strange that they hadn't heard from him in so long. Russ stands by one of the windows on the opposite side of the ship, staring out into the space beyond. Dingo stands, craning his neck to see what's so interesting about PNF-404’s meteor field. It's just a bunch of gray rocks floating around-
Then he sees it. A flash of lighter gray in a sea of darkness and gray rocks. The thing he spots is cut to have flat sides and a uniform shape unlike the asteroids orbiting the planet. It spins, and he can see that the other side is damaged, with a massive hole in its side, but there's no mistaking it. He and Russ are looking at another ship.
“It's a probe ship, either meant to be unmanned or piloted by only one person. It's difficult to tell with the damages,” Russ reports. “Certainly not a freight ship like Captain Olimar would have been driving.”
Collin stands up to get a look, but the ship lurches and knocks him to the floor.
“Were we hit?” Dingo shouts, bracing himself and Russ against the wall of the ship.
Russ shakes his head. “It didn't feel like it.”
There's a crackle of static, and then Shepherd's voice fills the ship, “We're going down! Suit up immediately and head to the emergency escape system!”
The four Rescue Corp members scramble to pull their life support gear on as they rush toward the emergency escape doors. The four of them reach it fine, but Dingo still frowns. “What about the Captain and Bernard?”
“Presumedly they're preparing to evacuate as we are,” Yonny frowns before looking back at Russ. “Is there an emergency escape launch in the front of the ship?”
“Not one that will propel us away from the ship,” Russ says worriedly. “If they wait much longer, there's a chance they won't be able to clear the wreckage… Or worse, they may not have time to slow down before hitting the ground.” None of them need to ask for elaboration on why that's a very bad thing.
Dingo swallows. “Then let's go!” The others stare at him in disbelief. “We know the Captain can take care of herself, same with Bernard. What's important is making sure we can get out before it's too late!”
“Dingo’s right,” Yonny says as Collin opens his mouth. “Besides, Oatchi was up front too. The Captain will be able to track us down once we're all on the ground.”
Collin shakes his head. “Fine.” He lets Russ activate the emergency escape system, and then the four are falling through the air.
Dingo takes in a deep breath as the wind whips around him. He hopes he made the right call, leaving before the others.
He's so focused on the crew members still on the ship that he doesn't notice that Russ, Collin, and Yonny have fallen miles away until he's almost to the ground.

(This is the Chart that tells the relationships between the Arcadia/Spruce and the characters in Pikmin and how they met.)
Pikmin TLH AU Relation Chart and how they met:
Pikmin 1: (Human's age: 17-18)
Olimar: More like a father to them. After he saved from the shelter they were trapped in, it was a moment of excitement, then confusion as they first met. At first, they didn't know how to communicate with him, because they assumed he would have a different language than them, but Olimar could understand their language, so they communicated that way. After they explained their situation, and Olimar explained his, they decided to help him search for his ship parts, despite their lack of knowledge of the outside world. Olimar, feeling bad about the human's situation, accepted their help, and also offered to help teach them some of the main skills needed for survival for as long as he would be on the planet. As the days go on, he does indeed teach the human how to survive while they help him and the Pikmin find the missing ship parts. In the world were they successfully fix the Dolphin, they say goodbye until they meet again.
Pikmin 2: (Human's age: 21)
Louie: At first, shakey start of the friendship, then really good friends, then it gets shakey again, crashes for a moment, then gets back to being friends again, but Louie is kinda obsessive over them cause they're kinda like his first friend/person that isn't part of his family that he cares for and its kind of a scary friendship. After Louie starts crashing down onto the planet's ground, Arcadia/Spruce follows him to where he is falling. At the first moment, they don't know how to speak to him, due to him seeming to be asleep, but when they approach him, he abruptly sits up, spooking Arcadia/Spruce. When they ask if he's okay, he hesitates but then nods as a sign that he is ok. Arcadia/Spruce is happy that he's okay, then they get the signal from the Freight ship asking him if his senses are fully 'functional.' (Hehe, robot pun) After he confirms his shape and walks around, Arcadia/Spruce follows him to help him find what he's looking for and helps him learn about the Red Pikmin and the Onions. Then after finding Olimar and flattening the Paper Bag blocking the way, they gather the battery they found and carry the battery to the ship. How they became good friends was because the human brought up the topic of food when they were exploring around together while looking for Olimar and Louie was paying attention to every word they said. Especially when they talked about the food that could be made from the creatures of the planet.
Sancho: At first, they didn't know who he was and assumed he was a good guy, but as soon as Olimar said that he was the guy who sent him back to the planet, they pulled a complete 180° and started yelling at him. Sancho took their yelling as a showing of gratitude though, and 'hired' them to be the 'Official PNF-404 Bodyguard and Treasure Collector.' Arcadia/Spruce attempted to yell at him again, but Olimar stopped them from yelling anymore, due to the fact they'd probably lose their vocal chords if they stayed there yelling at him the rest of the time.
Pikmin 3: (Human age: 24)
Alph: Literally that one friend duo that is "Innocent but Chaotic." They met after Arcadia/Spruce ran to look for help after Olimar got kidnapped by the Wraith and Louie ran away from them after realizing what Olimar was walking into, Arcadia/Spruce escaped from the Formidable Oak to go and search for help. Whenever they saw the Drake malfunction and crash to the surface, they followed the trail of smoke that was being left behind by the ship. When they find the Drake, they look nearby for any of the people who fell from the ship, only to find Alph knocked out in a body water. They dragged him out of the water, tried to tap him to wake him up, and even shook him to get him to regain consciousness. It worked, but after Alph fully woke up, he panicked out of fear of who or what they were. After a feeble attempt to calm Alph down, it surprisingly works, and Alph trusts the human, but still being cautious about them. When they find the Pikmin, Arcadia/Spruce asks if he has a whistle, and when he says yes, they tell him to call the Pikmin to him. They basically teach him how to use Pikmin as well like how they taught Louie, but they take more caution as Alph isn't a Hocotatian and doesn't know how to lead the Pikmin well. They became friends after Arcadia/Spruce asked to know more about the Drake and what it can do, and Alph just hyperfixated over everything it could do.
Brittany: Ladies, gents, and non-binary pearls, if you're looking for that one friendship that makes you think, 'I ain't never seen two pretty best friends,' here's the two pretty best friends. At first, when Brittany saw them with Alph, she thought, "WHAT AND WHO IS THAT!?" She was mortified because she thought the human was a monster of some kind, but after Alph explained what and who they were, Brittany still held up her guard, but calmed down. They helped Brittany learn about the Yellow Pikmin, then helped look for some fruits and spoke about the seeds in the fruit and what could be made with the fruit and the juice, and then talked about some of the fauna on the planet. They got along nicely, and Brittany sometimes does the human's hair before they go out on expeditions.
Charlie: He is literally like the grandpa that Arcadia/Spruce wishes they had. After he was saved from the Phosbat's belly by the crew and the human, he played it cool before asking who they were. Yes, he was terrified of them, but after being told that they were a good human, he was alright with them. When they heard some of the stories that he told the crew about how he went on many dangerous adventures before this, they were interested in hearing the stories he had. Sometimes, when the human gets sad, he'll share some quotes of inspiration or just tell them stories to attempt to distract them from being sad. It works sometimes, but sometimes it doesn't.
Pikmin 4 (Human's age: 20-22)
Dandolimar: Still like their father figure, just taught more about Dandori. Same way of how they met Olimar, just with them failing to help him find the ship parts and finding Moss. After they found him on the ground, his space suit damaged critically. They were worried that he was gone, but Moss with the group of Pikmin that they had with them carried Olimar to the Onion, anad then he was Leafified. After that, they were happy that he was alive again, but he couldn't remember too much. He could only think of four things: The Pikmin, Moss, the human, and Dandori. Meaning he remembered that he promised to teach the human how to survive, but he couldn't remember what for. The human felt sad that they failed to get him off the planet, but Dandolimar could only try to calm them down. He did successfully and the human felt less sad about it because if he was okay with being on the planet, then they were okay with him being there. (Also fun fact: After that entire thing, Arcadia/Spruce put a stick with a leaf in their hair to look exactly like him and the Pikmin. Mostly so people would know that he basically raised them, but also cause they thought it looked fun.)
Louie: Lemme tell you, man for real just treats them more kindly than others, but when he abandons them, Arcadia/Spruce feels like they did something wrong. They meet him after they flee from the Rescue Corps when they recovered Olimar, they assumed that they would be in trouble or in danger if they were brought back with him, so they fled as quick as they could. After the Rescue Corps leaves the planet with Olimar, they meet Louie and team up with him to 'help' find Castaways that have been deathly injured. At least, they assume they're helping the Castaways. At first, they don't trust him, but after realizing he looks like he's a Hocotatian like Olimar, they slowly start to trust him. When they're defeated on the last Dandori Battle against him though, Louie flees on foot, leaving Arcadia/Spruce and Moss behind to deal with the Rescue Corps. Thus making their friendship a little strained.
Moss: Human's best animal friend. They met Moss with Olimar after she was fainted somewhere. Arcadia/Spruce searched for the treat, gave it to Olimar, and Olimar gave the treat to Moss. Moss is a big dog and the human is her secondary owner.
Pom and Oatchi: At first, they don't like each other, mostly cause Arcadia/Spruce thinks they'll try to do something to them and Moss. After they get recovered and are bought back to the Rescue Base, they basically are the two friends who just talk about their dogs whenever they can. Oatchi absolutely loves to play with them and Moss. Pom also understands them even with their kinda jumbled up sentences. (Example: Pom: "So how was your day?"
◇A/S: "So cool! Day gave big searchings! Found tiny bug creatures and really, REALLY BIG bug creatures!"
Pom: "Really? What did they bugs look like?")
The Rescue Corps: They met when Arcadia/Spruce and Moss made it to the Corps. Arcadia/Spruce thought they'd be mad at them for turning Olimar and the other leafing Castaways into leaflings, but since Olimar explained their reasoning for turning the Castaways and him into leaflings, they seemed to welcome them with (almost) open arms.
Collin is just confused on what they are, but he treats them like he would any normal person. (Although Arcadia/Spruce acts more like a child, rather than their actual age.)
Shepherd thinks they're adorable. (in an innocent way) She likes how the human treats Moss and Oatchi and always plays with them before Pom heads out for an expedition. She's one of the people Olimar accidentally tells Arcadia's/Spruce's past to, but she knows it's probably supposed to be secret, so she doesn't tell anyone. She feels bad for the human, but she's actually happy that they're there.
Dingo is, in many ways, jealous of them. They act more like friendly rivals, kinda, but their 'rivalry' is only known by him and Pom. Arcadia/Spruce has 0 idea of the so-called rivalry and thinks it's just another way of saying that they're friends. There are times when he's nice to them, but only whenever they need help with things in the wild or whenever they are having trouble with anything around the base. Otherwise, everything is a competition when it comes to them doing anything. (Pom learned it after Dingo vented to them about how he was jealous of how the captain thought Arcadia/Spruce was adorable.)
Bernard just thinks of them as a cool little human. He respects them after hearing that they've actually helped out Olimar many times when he was in trouble as a leafling. (Also, the fact that they have a lot of energy when they run around the base just reminds him of when he was a kid. He was a really fast paced kid when he was little.) [At least, what I headcanon kinda-]
Yonny: They're afraid of him, since when they first met him, his first sentence to them was, "I wonder if you can survive being experimented on..." When that happened, they immediately started crying cause they thought he was actually going to experiment on them and possibly even kill them with the experiments. Yonny likes them though, even though he was banned from testing any experiments on them without their consent.
Ross's relationship to the human though is... what's the word?
Oh yeah-
a dumpster fire.
Honestly, the only reason it's bad is because of the fact he constantly talks about his mother(?) and how she spoils him and everything.
Note, if you take a moment to think about why this would cause problems:
Human's family was killed in the 'War of Humanity.'
They could've been friends with Russ if he didn't brag about his mother a lot, but because of that, I'd see them just being acquaintances, but the human avoid every conversation with him.
Extras:
(All and in both the good end and bad end) Pikmin: They're like the family they gained after Olimar saved them. Sometimes, they'll play with the Pikmin or will even just have pretend parties for them. After the captains escape from the planet though, the human becomes their leader.
Snavi: In the good end timeline, Arcadia/Spruce finds a baby Snagret with the Pikmin after Olimar leaves and raises it to be a pet that also acts like a defense mech. The Snagret is like a Downy Snagret, but instead of it thinking everything is food, it just fights to defend itself, as it evolutionized to eat mostly plants or seeds. When they try to take care of it, it's wary of them at first, but when they find it a fruit to eat, it starts to trust them. After a year, it becomes a grown-up Snagret and basically aids Arcadia/Spruce when they summon it with a call they made for it when they need assistance or when they find food or it's time to rest.
(Welp, this took a whole day to come up with, and I don't know if I'm proud of it. [I'm proud. :)] But here's their relationships with the characters. I wanted to give the human a fair amount of good friendships, but I also didn't want to make them seem really dislikable because of the fact they have a lot of friends and nobody disliking them. Arcadia/Spruce in the good end's personality is the personality you'll see on a person that tries their best to survive while they also try to protect the ones they care about if they're around. In the bad end, their personality would be based around a person who feels insecure and feels like they can't do anything on their own because Olimar's 'death' would affect them like that because their main goal was to help him escape. After Olimar is revived though, they act more like a child around him, no matter if he's 10 feet away from him or even right next to him. But when they're with anyone that they don't trust, they're very bashful and timid around people they don't trust fully. So both timelines of the human are basically just opposites of each other.
Also, as a side note, from now on for future posts, I'm using Arcadia for future posts-
You can still call them Spruce, though. I'll understand who they are because Spruce is Arcadia's other name.
Oh, also take a little thing I got from an ICQ Generator with ☆Arcadia and Louie cause I thought it fit perfectly for them.)
[Arcadia: Do you even know what an amulet is?
Louie: Of course I do! I eat amulets sometimes. I like the ones with cheese and onions!
Arcadia: Louie, those are omelettes.
Louie: Oh. Then I’ve got nothing.]
(ALSO I JUST REMEMBERED SOMETHING, I REALIZED I ACCIDENTALLY NAMED ARCADIA AFTER THE BLOSSOMING ARCADIA-)

For all the revival talk and wanting more Stacy&Perry and Vanessa and Monty and the Hirano and Brown siblings, I also really want the Doofensmirtz siblings.
I want to know more about Roger. I want to know what his deal is. Why is he no longer mayor in MML. What are his feelings on Heinz and his family situation. What does Roger think of his big brother?
The worst thing Roger does is make Doof the fall guy when the city is being attacked. But otherwise he's generally just a bit rude at most. But on the other hand he restored a work of art Heinz made he (well, it really seems doof pushed him so I don't blame him) destroyed. And Vanessa apparently gets along well with him.
Also, PnF isn't a serious show by any means so I don't think this should be taken seriously, but "Golden children" are also abuse victims. So can we maybe talk about how Roger might have been messed up by being on the other end of his parents dichotomis love. And we have very little idea about how his father treated him. If Heinz was in his 40s when he started to finally heal from his trauma I think its fair to grant Roger the same courtesy.
Like at the very least he learned his parents love was conditional. He might be a bit of an asshole. But so is Doof. Doof is definitely an asshole, sorry, even when he's trying to be good. I love him for it of course. But still an asshole. Especially to Roger.
I get Roger mostly exists to facilitate Heinz's tragic backstories and to be a symbolic target to overthrow the tri state area. And is not a particularly fleshed out character. But I do wonder.

Pikmin 4: Heritage Theory
Warning for MAJOR Pikmin 4 spoilers, including: various end of day conversations, post-credit events, late game piklopedia and treasure hoard entries, and also the final boss.
As a sort of re-boot of the franchise, Pikmin 4 introduces a lot of new ideas to the series. Among them is the idea that the various alien species in the game are much more closely related than we first realized - and perhaps more connected to PNF-404 than we would have ever thought in the other three games. I wanted to go over the various texts in the game that touch on this idea and talk about them a little because, hoo boy, the IMPLICATIONS. I call it a theory in the title for a lack of better wording but it honestly just feels like a canon fact that's never directly stated. There's just that much evidence, much of which all but outright says what happened.
Apologies if the images are a little low quality, Tumblr crunched them up badly. I provide image descriptions so hopefully that makes up for it.
As this has many end game spoilers (which, final warning for those), I'm going to assume that anyone reading beyond this point knows the basics of the game's story, world, and characters. Thus I won't be explaining every last little thing.
Somewhat early on, Olimar makes the following observation in his Voyage Log:
Tumblr media
[ALT ID: Olimar's Voyage Log, entry 60, "Lost Civilization": Some of the objects I call treasure seem to be more complex than they initially appear. It makes me wonder... who made these? And where are they? I don't sense their presence here at all, but I suppose they could be hiding in the shadows, secretly watching me. END ID]
This vaguely threatening entry does confirm that the characters, or at least Olimar, are aware that there was indeed a civilization on PNF-404 at some point. It should also be noted that the Japanese website includes notes from another character who is also aware of the ancient civilization, though the canonicity of it is debatable. I'll get back to that "they're in the shadows, watching" line in another post, as it presents its own can of worms. For now, what matters is that the characters are aware that this planet was once inhabited and Nintendo is drawing attention towards that.
Where this starts to get weird and interesting is with Olimar's Treasure Hoard entries on the Heroic Shield, Memory Fragment (Center Right), and Buddy Display. I can't show all of their text in just one screenshot and the pikipedia hasn't added every treasure note to the Pikmin 4 treasures as of writing, so I'll only be including the segments most related to this conversation.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
[ALT ID 1: Treasure Hoard, Olimar's Notes, Heroic Shield (segment): That would mean these living beings must have looked something like us... I wonder who they were and what their faces looked like. Could they have been our ancestors who migrated through space to our planet long ago? (the treasure is a pin showing the helmet of a human-style spacesuit) END ID 1]
[ALT ID 2: Treasure Hoard, Olimar's Notes, Memory Fragment (Center Right) (segment): I'm amazed that such a similar species could exist in the far reaches of outer space. I've heard that organic components can travel through space on meteorites and comets. Could there be a connection between my planet and this one? (treasure is of a puzzle piece with part of a dog's face on it) END ID 2]
[ALT ID 3: Treasure Hoard, Olimar's Notes, Buddy Display (segment): I can't find any evidence of them in any of the existing creature databases. But there's something familiar about them. It's almost as if I've met them before... I guess I'll chalk it up to an ancient memory that's been imprinted on my genome. (treasure is a photograph of two earth dogs) END ID 3]
There is so much to unpack here alone. Olimar straight up theorizes that there may be a connection between PNF-404 and Hocotate, even going to far as to propose if maybe the people of PNF-404 (or at least the people who made the Heroic Shield) may be his ancient ancestors. He does also theorize that a meteorite may have carried "organic components", which is technically possible, but I'm not sure how that would occur in a way that carries said components from one non-destroyed planet to another and leading to creatures evolving in eerily similar ways. Honestly, I'll chalk that one up to an early theory of his, a red herring on Nintendo's part, and thus not something to think about too much. Especially sense, in the Buddy Display, he considers his ability to somewhat recognize Earth dogs as an "ancient memory... imprinted on my genome". While I'm not sure of the science behind such a claim, we also have to take this from a story telling perspective - which is that Nintendo is all but screaming "there is a connection here". Not just in relation to the aliens and the planets, but also in relation to the dogs.
Speaking of the dogs, Olimar's notes on the final boss of the game presents yet more evidence to a connection - this time focusing more on the connection between Earth dogs and space dogs.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
[ALT ID 1: Piklopedia, Olimar's notes, Ancient Sirehound (segment): These results would indicate that 99.9 percent of the canine creature's DNA matches Oatchi's, and that the only difference between Oatchi and Moss may be the natural presence or absence of a leaf tail. END ID 1]
[ALT IDs 2 and 3, as one naturally leads into the other: Piklopedia, Olimar's notes, Ancient Sirehound (segment): If these two theories prove to be true, it would suggest the possibility that this ancient creature is a common ancestor to two canine species from vastly remote star systems. And that, perhaps, there are even more hidden secrets out there that could hint at a fascinating yet inconceivable truth the universe has yet to reveal... END IDs 2 AND 3]
I'm not sure what else to say here; the evidence speaks for itself. The Ancient Sirehound and Moss - both from PNF-404 - closely match the genetics of Oatchi, who is from an entirely different part of the universe. For the Sirehound to be genetically related to Oatchi, then members of the Sirehound's species would have had to leave PNF-404 and migrate to other planets. Their care takers - humans - would have had to go with them.
I also find it worth pointing out that the Sirehound's arena is filled with various human items, such as shoes and toys. It's honestly a little haunting to find them so deep in a dark cave, unused by humans for who knows how long. The ruined toys in particular really get to me. We don't know how old the Ancient Sirehound in particular is, but the idea that humans once hid in this cave from something or that their dog brought the items here for comfort is really depressing.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
[ALT IDs: various hard-to-see images of the human items in question, including: pillows, pipes. gardening tools, a fork, adult sized shoes, baby sized shoes, various children's toys, and other objects I couldn't quite make out. All of them are either partly submerged in water or at the very edge of water, leaving them covered in mud. END IDs]
I think by now it's safe to say that, yes, humans left Earth with their dogs at some point in time. Yet there are still MORE pieces of evidence to suggest this idea, this time coming from Shepherd's family history. Because we really needed to be beat over the head with evidence, I suppose. All are presented in numerical order as shown in-game.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
[ALT ID 1: Rescue Journal, Shepherd Family History, entry 1: Thanks to the technology that has come from space exploration, our lives have grown much easier and far safer, and on-planet rescue requests have decreased dramatically. But as migration into space continues to grow, our services continue to be needed. So I'm happy to announce we are extending our rescue services to the frontiers of space! Signed, Paniya Shepherd, 82nd Captain. END ID 1]
[ALT ID 2: Rescue Journal, Shepherd Family History, entry 2: We've done it at last! We have flown to space! Out in this great, limitless expanse, not a sound can be heard. And yet, I can still clearly hear the pounding of my own heartbeat. Space--how it overflows with possibilities! There can be no doubt. This is one giant leap forward for our kind. Signed, Ed Shepherd, 65th Captain. END ID 2]
[ALT ID 3: Rescue Journal, Shepherd Family History, entry 6: The Shepherd family has lived with dogs from the very beginning. We understand that if we love and respect these creatures as we do our own--if we pay attention and observe their behavior closely--then we can break down the walls between our species and truly understand one another. Signed, Kain Shepherd, 16th Captain. END ID 3]
[ALT ID 4: Rescue Journal, Shepherd Family History, entry 7: "Beyond the sky itself there lies a beautiful blue planet." Those words have been passed down from captain to captain, calling to each of us. I can't imagine what sort of place this blue planet might be, but it's said to be home to even more dogs and folks that we have here. One day, I hope to fly beyond the sky...and into space. Signed, Maris Shepherd, 7th Captain. END ID 4]
[ALT ID 5: Rescue Journal, Shepherd Family History, entry 8: Many years have passed since we first began to make this land our new home. Still, we need more time to complete our environmental adaptations. In the meantime, we must survive so that, one day, we can pass down this new history to our children, and pass down the ways we've learned to rescue and protect everyone. One day we will live here in peace. Signed, Mark Shepherd, 2nd Captain. END ID 5]
[ALT ID 6: Rescue Journal, Shepherd Family History, entry 9: The surface! We made it at last! Finally, we can begin making a fresh start here on this planet. Of course, it will take many long months and years before what we've built here will be anything like what we once had. But we won't be alone. Our beloved dogs will be by our side as we walk this long, difficult road. Signed, Aral Shepherd, 1st Captain. END ID 6]
There is so much here, all confirming that ancient Giyans (and Captain Shephard's direct ancestors) 1) migrated to this new planet in search of a "fresh start" and 2) proceeded to migrate to other parts of space many generations latter. It also hints that they know of a "blue planet" - a common nickname for Earth - which is home to more people and dogs. Most certainly, it is the planet they came from - making Giyans human, or at least an evolution of humanity, and perhaps all other alien races in Pikmin 4 (from Hocotations to Koppaites to Ohrians to Conohanins to anyone else from the twenty one named planets (excluding PNF-404) in the series) are also descendent from Giyans. It would explain why they all look so similar in game - though we can safely assume that Hocotations are at least descendent from Giyans based on Olimar's notes. Further more, the leafling cure requires cells from a non-leafified individual who is genetically similar to the individual in question. We're never told how Yonny gets these cells (and, given we're talking about Yonny, I'm too afraid to even ask) but the fact that the medicine works for anyone regardless of what their home planet is suggests that they are, in fact, more or less the same species.
How different the various aliens look from Humans is easily chalked up to evolution. We know minor changes in height could, theoretically, happen within just one or two generations spent on a planet with different gravity than Earth's. It would make sense that this would be exacerbated over many many more generations, especially if the gravity is much stronger. Which, to quote the Pikipedia, "According to Brittany, the gravity on Koppai is roughly ten times stronger than on PNF-404." Given their matching heights, it's probably safe to assume similar applies to the other planets, and thus over the generations the people shrunk. Again, the exact scientific validity of this is questionable, but given the semi-fantastical nature of Pikmin I believe we can suspend our disbelief enough to let this story work. We already have to do that for how the Pikmin as a species function, after all. As for oxygen becoming toxic in the 8th history entry Mark Shephard does state that "we need more time to complete our environmental adaptations". Be these natural or artificially induced (as he is only of the second generation), it is again safe to suspend our disbelief to say that humans just adapted to these new worlds. Besides, Koppaites at the very least retained (or possibly gained back?) the ability to tolerate at least low amounts of oxygen.
The real problems come in the time frame and the loss of history. It's never stated one way or the other if people are aware of their ultimate connections back to Giya, so I won't discuss that, but it is very obvious they have forgotten their connection to Earth/PNF-404. Furthermore, it's made clear that the Giyans lost the ability to travel through space by the 7th generation and only regained it by the 65th. If they had access to space flight, they would certainly have archives of their heritage - and they do indeed seem to have some idea of what it is, given how Earth has become a legend. Yet, the Shephard family history as far back as the migration to Giya was preserved - why not anything else? The inconsistencies and questions make this part of the tale hard for me to ignore, yet we have no answers. This is pure speculation, but if I had to provide an answer I think a solar flare hit Giya and destroyed their technology, making them start over. Perhaps these early Giyain-Humans were so reliant on technology at this point that there were no books or oral traditions to preserve this heritage lost when the tech was destroyed? Though, somehow, the Shephard family would have to be one of if not the exception to this. Again, the previous is pure speculation, but it's the best we can do for the time being.
There's also the question of when and how Earth dogs changed to look like the Sirehound, which would of had to happen before the migration to space given that Oatchi has the same body plan. And then why did Moss's species become so much smaller?
Still, even with all these plot holes, I think it's pretty damn clear that Nintendo intended for our favorite little aliens to be the evolutionary decedents of humans. How and if they'll use this plot point remains to be seen, but it does open up a whole bag of opportunities for the universe of Pikmin. One that, frankly, deserves to be explored.

So for a pikmin 4 theory, I think the weird fuzzy olimar is a result of the plasm wraith in some way, either it turned olimar into that or its a fuzzy copy of olimar. We know from p3dx that the plasm wraith seems to be the source of all life on pnf-404 in some way, so it could be that it has a soft spot for the pikmin which would be a problem because at the start of pikmin 1 all three onions are on their last legs, with pikmin as a species on the way out. It's likely that the plasm wraith was causing ships to crash on pnf-404 to try and get someone to help the pikmin, which it got when olimar came along and expertly led the pikmin to becoming stronger and self sufficient, as we see in pikmin 2. The plasm wraith was likely overjoyed at this, however in pikmin 3 we see that the pikmin seem to have started to lose themselves again and have struggled with keeping their position, as we found all the onions struggling in some way and the winged and blue pikmin onions seem to be at an extinction like in 1. This would be worrisome for the pw, so I think it wanted to keep olimar on pnf-404 forever as the pikmins leader. This could be why it acted so motherly towards him, because it saw olimar as its succesor almost. This also means that it could see the koppaites as bad influences on the pikmin, as the koppai crew used them to defeat the plasm wraith. This could be why the fuzzy olimar is kidnapping various stowaways, as its to prevent them from "influencing" the pikmin more. This could also explain why you don't have to do a head on head battle against fuzzy olimar but instead you do a competition, as its essentially a way for olimar to test your leadership skills.

plz explain Candace as a Christ figure I am begging. If you already have, my bad. I can't find it.
COPYING THE RANT I DID PUT ON THE BLOG ALSO DW :)))) IM ACTUALLY WORKING ON A SECOND PROPAGANDA RANT
1: LITERALLY DIED IN AN UNHOLY MANNER(BECAME A VAMPIRE AND WAS CAUGHT IN THE SUN) AND CAME BACK BY A MEMBER(OR TWO) OF HER FAMILY RESURRECTING HER(PHINEAS AND FERB)
2: HAS A HUGE CASE OF NECESSARY SUFFERING. WHILE IT HURTS TO SEE HER CONSTANTLY FAIL TO BUST THE BOYS, I DON'T THINK ANYONE ACTUALLY WANTED THE BOYS TO GET IN TROUBLE. THE ENTIRE SHOW REVOLVES AROUND HER FAILURE, ITS NECESSARY FOR ANY OF THE GOOD BITS TO WORK IN THE LONG RUN, MUCH AS ITS CONSIDERED SUFFERING FOR HER.
3: SAID NECESSARY SUFFERING IS **LITERALLY** BECAUSE SHE WASN'T BELIEVED IN TELLING THE TRUTH DESPITE IT BEING THE "OBJECTIVE" TRUTH!!!!! LIKE!!!! IT WAS UNINTENDED BUT SHE'S LITERALLY THE "THEY HATED HIM BECAUSE HE SPOKE THE TRUTH" THING!!!!!
4: DESPITE THIS SHES LITERALLY SHOWN AND CONSIDERED AS A GUIDING LIGHT FOR THE CAST!!!! PHINEAS AND FERB REALLY LOOK UP TO HER, LINDA(WHO I WILL NEVER UNDERSTAND HOW PEOPLE BLAME HER FOR BOTH INCONSISTENT WRITING AND THE WHOLE UNIVERSE CONSPIRING AGAINST HER) AND LAWRENCE CARE ABOUT HER DEEPLY(AND ALSO WORK SURPRISINGLY WELL AS PLACEHOLDERS FOR MARY AND JOSEPH ALL THINGS CONSIDERED (AND ALSO NOW I LOVE THE IDEA OF CANDACE DOING SOME ANTIQUING ALONG WITH HER LAWYERING LATER ON)), PERRY ALSO APPRECIATES HER AND CARES ABOUT HER, EVEN IF ITS IN A WEIRD SLIGHTLY STRAINED WAY BC. MINDLESS PET DISGUISE, ISABELLAS RELATIONSHIP W HER IS COMPLICATED BUT ULTIMATELY ISABELLA ALSO LISTENS TO HER MORE OFTEN THEN NOT, BUFORD AND BALJEET ARE BOTH SCARED OF HER BUT RESPECT HER IN DIFFERENT WAYS, STACY IS WILLING TO GO ALONG W HER DESPITE THE NIGH IMPOSSIBLE STUBBORNESS OF HER BUSTING ENDEAVORS (STACY DOESN'T RLY WORK JUDAS WISE DESPITE THE LEMONADE STAND BUT!!! THE HOMOROMATICISM BETWEEN HER AND CANDACE AND THE BEST FRIEND WHO WOULD FOLLOW HER SUPPOSEDLY EVERYWHERE MEAN SHE HAS THE POTENTIAL <3), EVERYTHING W HER AND JEREMY(WHO IS LIKE. I COULD VAGUELY REMEMBER BC IM BAD W NAMES AND FACES AND EVERYTHING IDENTITY WISE LIKE. 90 PEOPLE FROM THE PLACE I USED TO LIVE WHO WOULD LEGIT THINK HES JESUS IF THEY ONLY HEARD ABOUT HIM WITHOUT THE CARTOON CONTEXT/SRS)MY BELOVEDS, EVEN HER PARALLELS W DOOF AND VANESSA WORK IN THIS CONTEXT W DOOF BEING ANOTHER EXAMPLE OF NECESSARY SUFFERING AND VANESSA LITERALLY BEING USED AS AN OPPOSITE BUT SIMILAR IF NOT EXACT FORCE AS HER ON TWO OCCASIONS!!
NOW JUST A BUNCH OF THINGS THAT AREN'T WHOLE POINTS BUT I THINK ADD TO IT. 1, JESUS ALSO HAD A BROTHER NAMED JUDAS WHO WAS UNRELATED TO THE JUDAS THAT BETRAYED HIM, CANDACE OFTEN FEELS BETRAYED BY HER BROTHERS. 2: THROUGH THE CLASSIC SITUATION OF "THE SHOWRUNNERS/WRITERS(THEY WERE BOTH SOME OF THE TIME ESPECIALLY FOR BIG SPECIALS) PROBABLY DIDN'T ACTUALLY MEAN TO IMPLY THAT THIS CHARACTER HAS A SET RELIGION BUT UNFORTUNATELY FORGOT THAT SOME STORIES ARE TECHNICALLY CHRISTIAN", HER TERRIBLE(/AFFECTIONATE) NICKNAMES FOR JEREMY IN THE CHRISTMAS SPECIAL INDICATE THAT SHE AT LEAST KNOWS SOME CHRISTIAN STORIES EVEN IF SHES NOT TECHNICALLY CHRISTIAN. 3: BUFORD CANONICALLY HAS A CRUSH ON HER AND HE SEEMS LIKE THE TYPE OF KID TO NOT GET WHY HAVING A CRUSH ON PAINTINGS OF JESUS IS WEIRD/HJ
ALSO ITS WORTH NOTING IM NOT RLY CHRISTIAN ANYMORE(AND I WAS ALWAYS SIGNIFICANTLY MORE INTO OTHER MYTHOLOGIES) IM JUST OBSESSED W PNF AND RELIGION CONSTANTLY. LITERALLY THE THING IN MY LIFE IVE PUT THE MOST WORK INTO EVER IS A "WHAT IF THEY WERE ALL GODS" DEITY AU FOR PNF. I AM BOTH HEAVILY BIASED AND THE PERSON WHO WOULD KNOW THE MOST ABOUT THIS
