I got to 2x04 last night in my Lone Star rewatch, and all I can think about now is my overwhelming need for some Carlos backstory. I NEED to know more about his past and his family. I really want some information about his past relationships, what growing up was like for him, more about his extended family, and really anything and everything Carlos-related. I'm especially fascinated with his relationship with his parents. There's clearly so much love there, and we see his parents lovingly supporting him in the show. I love Gabriel and Andrea so much, but I really want to know how they got to the point where Carlos felt like he had to hide important parts of his life from them to not "rub their noses in it." Did they change over the years or were they just really bad at communicating? And I also want to see Carlos's feelings on this now, particularly as he gets ready to marry the love of his life with complete love and support from his parents, something I have to imagine Carlos didn't think he would get to have for much of his life. We are perfectly positioned to get some (or all) of this in season 4, so I really hope the show delivers!!

My #1 post of 2022

I just finished up the ice storm arc in my Lone Star rewatch. As a result, I've been thinking a lot about the breakup and wondering what was going through TK's and Carlos' minds during that time.

Obviously, TK was the one who walked out, but you know he broke his own heart along with Carlos' when he did it. I imagine that TK probably regretted his actions fairly quickly. At least a part of him must have wanted to fix things, but I could see him being afraid of being rejected by Carlos if he tried. TK "blew it up" because things seemed so perfect and then his insecurities came creeping in, triggered by the reminder of his past mistakes in the form of his bad credit. (Also a reminder of how his past mistakes can still hurt him in the present, and perhaps even affect Carlos so maybe Carlos would be better off without him.) Because of this, I can see the fear of Carlos outright rejecting him being enough to stop him from trying to reach out, even when he must have inevitably realized that he did the wrong thing in walking out.

When I previously watched these episodes, I got the impression that Carlos had initially tried to reach out to TK because Carlos references in 2x02 TK not wanting to talk to him until he's in the ICU. ("Typical TK. First time that he wants to talk to me in months and, of course, it's because he's in the ICU.") I took that to mean that Carlos tried to talk to TK but TK wouldn't respond. But maybe Carlos didn't reach out. In previous seasons, Carlos never really chases TK. He's there when TK is ready, but he lets TK come to him. I could see Carlos doing that again, only this time, TK never comes back. Just thinking about Carlos sitting alone in the loft he bought for the two of them, waiting for TK to come back so they can make up, but he doesn't, so Carlos eventually just tells himself that it's over and he has to accept that..."you have to know when a thing is over." 😭

And if Carlos never reached out to TK (or even if he initially reached out and then gave up when he didn't get a response), I could definitely see TK misreading that and feeling like he was sure to be rejected if he tried to reach out to Carlos. I could see TK feeling like, as horrible as things were in the moment, it would be just too much to bear for the love of his life to tell him to get out if he tried to go make up. So he just didn't go and the longer they went without speaking, the harder it would be for either of them to make the first move.

Anyway, just torturing myself by writing angsty missing moment fanfiction in my mind instead of getting work done. Typical Monday afternoon.

I’m sorry in advance for how long this answer is. 😭

So interesting fact about me: I didn’t start watching Supernatural until 2015 in my senior year of high school. I’d heard about it of course, and even heard of wincest but never bothered to watch it until a friend of mine suggested it (funnily enough, she was actually a destiel shipper 💀). So I gave it a shot and loved it from the start. Pretty much as soon as I started watching, I began shipping wincest and J2. At that time, I wasn’t really active on any online fandom spaces so I didn’t even know what a tinhat was. 

The more I got into the show, the more I started to become a major fan of Jared and Jensen so I followed them both on Instagram. Even though I really liked both of their wives, I always had a weird feeling about all of their interactions. It felt too idealistic and a little forced. But I just figured they played it up for social media the way a lot of people do.

I also started watching a lot of interviews/behind the scenes/bloopers of J2 and for some reason, I always felt like their connection was very different. But I thought “Well, they’re married with kids so, it’s probably just because they’re so close that they must feel like brothers. :)” 

Then sometime in 2018 I found out what a tinhat was because of tumblr. It actually didn’t surprise me, but I was like “There’s no way. Who would go through all that trouble?” I was one of those people that said “Who needs to stay in the closet these days?” (🤦🏻‍♀️ Very ignorant of me, I know.) Then I got really busy with school and work so I kinda lost interest in SPN and stopped watching. 

Toward the middle of 2019, I joined Twitter as part of a different fandom, but one of the people I followed was also into SPN and in one of their tweets they said something about “Speak the Truth” and posted a link about it. I read through the entire thing in one night and I was fascinated. It made sense with what I had already suspected, so at that moment I would’ve considered myself on the fence but still open to the idea that they were together. That kinda sparked my interest back into SPN so I caught up on the episodes I had missed and was able to start watching season 15 in real-time.

During quarantine in March 2020, I started to watch some old J2 panels from previous cons and I just couldn’t get over their intense chemistry. I remembered STT and decided to read through it again but this time I took my time and read through it slowly. This is when I knew for sure that Jared and Jensen were more than friends. I also started going through some old tinhat blogs here on Tumblr and caught up with all the scheming I had missed while I was out of fandom as well as some of the things I had missed while I was a ‘het’. (That’s when I found out about the entire 2017 date night fiasco lol.) 

What really made me convinced about the bearding was when I started to realize just how much they cover up and jump through hoops to distract everyone from Jared and Jensen hanging out together. I can’t think of any other celebrity friendship that does that. Even huge A-list celebrities are allowed to hang out with their friends and not have their wives there. It just didn’t make sense to me that two straight actors with nothing to hide would go through so much trouble. The slip-ups they’ve had in cons (for example, Jared telling the Italy story as being on a date with Gen, then Jensen telling the same story as being just the two of them) also made me more convinced. 

I kind of juggle between whether or not they will ever come out. Sometimes I feel like we’re on the verge of a divorce announcement, sometimes I feel like it’ll never happen, sometimes I’m like ‘maybe this year?’ I’m still not sure if they ever will. If they do, I’m inclined to believe it will take a few more years, at least. Here’s why I think so: 

1. The fact that they’ve kept up this charade for so long makes it harder for them to come clean. Have you ever heard the saying, the longer a lie lives, the harder it is to kill? Kind of like that. Jared and Jensen have a very large fan base and the majority of that fan base fully believes that they are happily married heterosexual men; if they (the fans) were to find out they were lied to for over a decade, I doubt they’d be happy about that. 

2. As much as we’d like to believe that our society has made a lot of progress with regard to LGBTQIA+ acceptance, the entertainment industry is still FULL of homophobia. Look at the whole Disney sponsoring anti-gay bills for a recent example. Coming out would spark controversy and could potentially harm their careers. Colton Haynes is a recent example of this. 

3. There are children involved. If they were to come out while the kids were still in school, it could possibly put them in an uncomfortable position (bullying, invasive questions, etc). If you think that’s too far, let me tell you: I live in California, which is considered a very liberal state, and yet when I was in school I saw kids and even teachers being made fun of for their sexuality. Now think about how much worse it could be in a notoriously conservative state like Texas. 

4. From what we know, both Jared and (especially)Jensen come from religious families. I’m not sure whether or not this had anything to do with them choosing to beard, but it is possible that they have some unsupportive family members (whether immediate or extended) and don’t want to ‘disappoint’ them. 

Of course, I hope more than anything that one day they can come out and be their true selves. It would make me happy not because I’m a tinhat but because I’m a huge fan of them both and want the best for them. It breaks my heart that they’ve had to go through so much during their 17 years together. 

But even if they never come out, it wouldn’t change anything for me. I believe either way in the epic love story of Jared and Jensen. 😉

I don’t want to have to wait till episode 6 for (non dream) Kathony sex 😭😭 They better be engaged by 5, so they’re married at the start of 6.

Seriously though, they did a bad job with the ending in S1 and Simon/Daphne apparently had more time married. I hope the s2 conflict and resolution isn’t terribly rushed. If 6 is the wedding, Kate and Anthony only get 2 full episodes married? 😭

Also tbh I’m wondering how they dragged out the pre-wedding events for 6 episodes. Not a lot happens. How long are they at Aubrey Hall for now? episodes 3-5? They’re only there for only 1 week in the book, but I think it might be a 2/3ish weeks in the show.

I mean, at least we can confirm engagement in either five or six? That’s better than not know imo. I’m not super optimistic they’ll be married by start of six but who really knows at this point?

They did a bad job with ending Daph and Simon but I think a lot of that had to do with how both of them were under explored emotionally and how their problems weren’t discussed well? And if you recall, they were mostly pissed at each other for their ep 5, happy for ep 6, pissed for ep 7 and most of 8. So like sure they had a fair bit of sex, but it was on and off and often not sex they should have been having.

Comparing them to Kathony there are huge differences. k and A are happy and that’s the conflict. In the book they bond and communicate about their pasts and their fears even before they get married. And I’ve heard from fans who have seen it that the depths of Kate and Anthony’s relationship in the show surpassed their expectations. All this means I think there will be more emotional intimacy earlier on, in contrast to Saphne who never really got there? Their building conflict lays that groundwork for a nicely explored relationship too, meaning the missing component is mostly just physical.

And if you think about it, how much is in tvwlm after the marriage? We got some of Kate adjusting to being a wife, tea set sex and Edwina’s dowry, storms and the visit with Mary and that’s it. Most of those scenes were quick too. I’d like to see them married by 6 like you, just so we can see how sex complicates the relationship and see more vulnerabilities and get a bit of fluff, but we’re not missing out on scenes we had in the book. Also, Kathony make out a fair bit during engagement and while I think it’s likely to be cut there’s a chance they keep it to fill that middle ep time with it.

As for what they can fill in the first five eps, I can think of a fair bit. Not to be a clown but I think after Daph catches them in four, Anthony might try to propose (or if not Daphne might insist) but Kate refuses and then she turns around in five and starts taking suitors. And Anthony just goes on a wild rampage. That adds a whole phase that wasn’t in the book in addition to scenes we know are added early on like shooting and horse racing, family meals with Lady D and all the ballroom stuff.

All of this is to say, short marriage doesn’t not stick the landing and isn’t necessarily unearned depending on execution. I just don’t want that kind of boring overdone longing that’s so common in slow burn. Kathony are chaotic doers. They can only have so many stolen glances and stay true to their relationship vibes imo. But also I don’t want bloated drama, bc this is romance?

Episode 8 of s1 was longer than the rest too and they could do it here. We don’t know if there’s a carriage accident or when or how Anthony runs off either. But they’ll have the emotional groundwork there to do it quickly if they need to I think. My main worry in my previous asks is if they elongate enemies time and don’t switch to friends soon enough. That love might feel unearned bc they’re not vulnerable with each other in that state. If they become friends then we can wait a little longer probably?

TLDR; I don’t think we have much to worry about regardless based on the nature of Kathony.

[Part 2 / 2] Okay, as I said, I was about to drop this drama. (but I’m glad I didn’t!) However, one of the main reasons why I watched this was because of Eru. This drama was aired on his debut anniversary which was September 7. Eru promoted this drama together with his meaningful message during his special day. His dad, Tae Jin Ah, also briefly promoted this one during his guesting in “Comedy BIg League.” (at 4:39 😆) “아들~ 사랑해요~!” Before knowing him by everyone as Professor Park Si Jae from "At a Distance, Spring is Green," “Man in a Veil” was actually Eru’s breakthrough. Eru also led its popularity from the beginning aside from the main leads, and he was TRENDING TOP SPOT in real-time search terms. Every time he appeared, the real-time search terms became a festival. (hello, it’s a KBS2 daily drama!) His song “Black Glasses” was also played in one of the episodes of the drama. The ratings reached almost 20% when he came back on the Christmas episode. (MANNN THAT WAS A CHRISTMAS PRESENT FOR US!) No wonder that Eru had left a huge impact and his power was seriously no joke, although he was having a special appearance here (but it was actually more than that already!) He really grew further into an actor through this drama.  Everyone in the drama is unforgettable but Choi Jun Seok is one of the characters that I can’t forget the most. He’s actually my personal favorite character of Eru, and this made me fall for him as an actor. He was actually the 3rd lead guy here aside from Lee Tae Poong and Cha Seo Joon. And I still have 3rd lead syndrome here!!! He was being sincere while telling his feelings to his lover Han Yoo Ra. He was ready to marry her. He didn’t have any intention to leave her either because he loved her so much. He was ready to take responsible for everything. However, that woman eventually betrayed him, left him in vain, and made his life miserable. Plus their son Min Woo (Dong Ho)... Jun Seok had gone through a lot. Imagine how many times he went into crisis, and then what happened? He came back, right? Until the end, he was there witnessing the end of that woman. I was satisfied with the final judgment. Jun Seok got the justice he truly deserved. I was glad that Eru chose this right after “Kingmaker: The Change of Destiny” because it was very far from his previous one and yet, a more mature one. Everything here was a first time for us. It was something that we had never seen before from him. (gosh i need more of this kind of content from him pls!) But to be honest, I was very surprised that he would be doing a DAILY drama. It was actually okay for me since he mentioned that in an interview but I didn’t know he would actually do ONE, for real. He also partially overlapped with his MBC daily drama “A Good Supper” which aired last January. (that was the time when MIV was about to end. take note: both are daily dramas!) Eru was very unusual in this drama. He showed various emotions of Jun Seok from the beginning up to the time he came back after 5 years until the end. He was different but exceptional. I can also consider him as a legend coz... “he’s the man who never dies.” 😆🤣🔥 Eru and Lee Chae Young's chemistry in this drama... I’ve already said this many times but... OH MY GOOOOD I TOLD YOU GUYS, THEIR CHEMISTRY WAS VERY INSANE THAT I COULD NOT DENY AT ALL! PROMISE!!! 😭🔥💕 From the very first time I saw them, I already felt that they would be a hit, and it really was! Their tandem was one of the strongest I've ever seen in dramaland. They were impressive and amazing here in this drama even though they made me kilig (for a bit 😂), surprised, mad, frustrated and even cry to their scenes, I mean to their tragic love story. I know you all feel the same! 😆 And their interactions on IG... they’re just sweet and cute! I just said what I’ve said! But this! I still can’t believe that of all the dramas, we actually GOT these scenes from them (especially Eru)... in a DAILY drama!? 😱😭😆🙈🙈🙈 From that “first and last” sweet & kilig moment...  😆🙈💕

to this mild but freakin’ HAWT scene... AHHHH SHHHHT I JUST DIED AT THIS K BYE 😱😭😭🔥🔥🔥

a year later, i realized now that i actually felt bad for Jun Seok here but the next episode after this...  (okay guys, you may slap me now! i’m still a FREAKIN’ BIG TRASH FOR THIS DRAMA 🤧😂😭😭😭) Enough with the crazy kilig and uhh! Before this drama, Eru and Lee Chae Young have been friends for a long time now, for 17 years. They even gave each other presents as well. 🥺😭💖 How could you not love them?! Ah btw, I’ve already known Chaeyoung since “Two Mothers” and she’s actually one of my girl crushes in dramaland.. Yeah, it was just amazing to see them together here. I’m soooo proud of them.. but I NEED THEM IN A NEW DRAMA AS THE LEADS PLEASE!! 😭😭😭 (oh, it’s not that I ship them btw ah. haha!) And as a fan of Eru... BINGO!!! I. AM. SUPER. FREAKING. BLESSED. AND STILL KEEP ON WINNING HEREEEE *SCREAMSSSSSS* 😭😭😭🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 Oh, and I even made a FMV for them.. Haha. I was really inspired by one of the MIV reviews I read from Naver blog, and this song was written there, yet it was so related to Choi Jun Seok and Han Yoo Ra... that's why I made it. And been thinking of this actually for a long time now..The title? “Last Love” by Kim Bum Soo.  hope you all like it! ㅎㅎ

Aside from Lee Chae Young, Eru’s chemistry with Kang Eun Tak was also awesome! I didn’t know him at first but eventually got to love him as well for his role here.. The moment I’d been waiting for had finally happened, when the two dads met for the first time during Dong Ho’s funeral. Their acting there was great. That scene looked real for me yet I was very devastated while watching this. (but I was really in the middle of mourning when that scene aired & it was on a Christmas season. how could i not---?!) I actually expected that to happen yet I was curious how would Lee Tae Poong and Choi Jun Seok meet. Gladly they didn’t have any bad intentions, hard feelings or what. They were just in good terms. At some point, I even thought that if Jun Seok had died for real, he could finally see him in heaven... since his son already died. 😢

Besides being Dong Ho’s dads, they were both scammed by Han Yoo Ra. They were invincible even though they're both dumb sometimes.. if you know what I mean 🤭😂 and how come they could not beat that woman and her ninja employee?! LMAOOO 😭🤣🤣 Tae Poong was also the superhero there when Jun Seok was in a crisis (again?! 😂) and he helped him to come back once again and let Yoo Ra pay for the sins she had done to them and to their dead son. Okayyy enough now with the feels! It’s just that I miss Choi Jun Seok's moments with Han Yoo Ra and Lee Tae Poong, since he only had scenes with the two. I wish if he could only have a scene with his son Dong Ho... And these three were so cute! I still can’t help but adore the friendship they have made through this drama... they’re very awesome! Plus their interactions on IG! They deserve love and recognition honestly. It’s just that people are still sleeping on these amazing people until now. Because of this crazy makjang drama, I got to love them more now. They just left me a very huge impact here, and... it will take me time to move on from this. I hope to see them more in their upcoming dramas/works. As a fan of this crazy makjang drama, I. AM. BEYOND. BLESSED!  PS: About the MV, I was actually sick when I made that one. (how come did I think of it at that point?! what was rest?! 😂) However, I only revised the video for the last-minute lmao.. just only 2 nights before I posted that.
