at first glance--super lame. horrible colors. not much visual interest. my favorite is virgil!

after exploring the actual shop, you can see that they have a lot of different color options. better color options. why they used that lame fucking gray to advertise the logo shirt rather than my FAVORITE shade of green is beyond me. even the white is better. why is gray even an option its so boring.

I'm not here to discuss the ethics of AI or anything I'm coming at it solely from an art discussion place (and environmental sometimes), which is that it's completely soulless and has no thought into it. Effort? To get the right prompt? Maybe. But it doesnt inspire thought or discussion as an art piece. Oh cool. It's a squid. It's a white women looking at a 3/4 angle. With the same kinda bland, flat, art style. Anyway.

Duchamps's Fountain isnt high art. It took no effort. It's a toilet he probably found in the trash. But it inspires discussion that's lasted like... decades. It's one of my favorite pieces because people STILL get mad about it. DaVinci has a similar art style, even - im not a fan of it. Realism, but kinda flat. It is much darker and more neutral though. Soft shading, soft colors. But there's a reason it intrigues people. It's studied portraits of people who existed. At least that's why it intrigues me. were they family? a friend? maybe it was a commission? why did they think that was the most flattering portrait for them if it was? If they didnt EXIST and it's solely the artists imagination, how'd they get that angle? That pose? What inspired this idea? The effort they put into the physical aspect can be a part of it. But then why is Fountain so iconic? The hardest physical part of THAT was lugging it to the gallery.

Maybe THATS why they were so mad. They realize there was no soul in it. The only thing they can bother to create is so menial and pointless. They can type little prompts into a bar and turn up with... something "physical". But theres nothing behind it. They cant explain why they painted the tree that color, or the women has that expression. The robot did that. They can say "I wanted it that way - i saw it on my way home" but I dont know... that doesnt have the same zing. It's not showing me what YOU saw. It's showing me what it's lumped together from 15,000 results for "green tree" on google. I think maybe that's it. Art in any form comes from the mind of a person - no matter how complicated or "good" it is. It's from the direct point of view. A kindergartener draws their family and it sucks but it's like a little snapshot of how they saw that particular moment. They noticed the bright sun and grass and drew it. You can get a robot to do that, but then that's from X amount of people's point of view that it's dredging from. Not yours. You typed in "bright sunny day green grass happy family" but that's not YOUR view of that snapshot in time. Even if it's not from something irl it's a little snapshot into the person's mind, how they were feeling, what colors they liked... a AI cant do that because it's a separate entity doing it.

Anyway. I dont know what moods inspired this. I think I just miss my art history classes and stuff. I'm not smart enough for like ethics or philosophy but art history I can get behind.

not so fast! theyre both so fucking bad at this game! the game being existing. Fred feeds the body and like. the most basic of maintenance but they too mistreat it in their own special way <3. ANyways how does this scene change? uh. god. i feel like it adds a lot ofc content but i dont. know. thinking about camp makes my head scream... as i imagine it mutates and changed even after having drawn these. living organism....

in my head their body "prioritizes" freddy a lot, like. IF fred is in control while freddy is sleeping, and freddy wakes up, it sorta auto-kicks fred out if they arent prepared and get caught off guard, BUT freddy isnt exctly. too present. hes not the most anchored person to his own self so if fred, can simply push him out pretty easy so long as they arent abnormally weakened, and if they were to fight for it fred will typically win. As for body auto responses, i think it does eventually kick the current pilot out, or mess things up and force them both in or both out, ("how does that work" sh sh sh dont even worry about it... <3 please.) buuuut i think it takes a long time for the body to get to that point, to the point where it does those auto responseds. Freddys gotten it pretty used to well, itself. it doesn't send out the signals that it should, or at best, not as strongly.

Okay why is Freddy all glitchy when out side and not sparkly? beeecause well. cromatic aberation occurs when a lense fails to align and focus wavelengths of color all on the same point. What the hell does that have to do with freddy? (what the hell happens int hat goddamn highschool?) uh! hes totally unfocused. in his entire self. and in his worldview, his view of strangers, of his friends, family. exc. Hes got like at least three different "lenses" he can view himself in, and at least two "good or bad" lenses he can see any given person through. IF anything is certain about him, its his instability. In idenity, in stances, in views, in beleifs, in emotions, in everything. An so, he gets the aberation efffect, cause he is !!! pulling!! apart! no focus, no stability , no alignment, no trust, no brother, no one to rely on, no money, no goals, no self esteem, no style, no shoes, no affirmation, no bitchessssssss also i have freddy at like 18 opacity (and the cromatic aberation layers are also at 1* so lets charitibly say hes at 50 total) and Fred is at like 80/85/90 on any given drawing of these, because freddy literally has less soul. uh. magic stystem or whatever freddy was emoty enough in the cup that holds his soul that he could fit a shadow, who turned into a whole ass person instead of some litttle creature...... fucked up. empty ass. anywho. enough of that miserable prick. freds got glow and sparkles cause hes got a lot of soul, hes got a lot in him, and would shine under any circumstance. stand out in some way bc hes just. like that. he is absolutly bursting at the seams with STUFF that is just not being let out. Hes curious. they wanna learn andexplre and live so fucking badly, the want to live and exist on their own terms and its so much passion and drive and will to live all bottled in this little being unable to be expresseddddd. one of these is more positive than the otherrrrr im sure theres sone negative side i missed on fred and a positive side to freddy that i missed but uh. its. 12am as i am writing and scheduling this so.....

Sen - he said that he didn't care for the dog at first (and he still says he dosent care for them) but theyre his best friend and he would take a bullet for his dog. He talks to his pet in a really high pitched baby voice when no one else is around lmao

Kamakiri - if its a bully breed hes fine but if its a small dog like a chihuahua he kinda scoffed at first but he likes the little guy. He calles him ferocious and trained him to attack peoples ankles on command

Kuroiro - he named them greg the dark overload and ruler of hell or some shit like that and then its just a corgi that wont stop trying to drink toilet water or smthn like that. He loves it more than life itself.

Kendo - at first she says its sweet and is gushing about it but then it turns i to a lecture lmao. Like she tells her s/o about how pets are big responsibilitys and how they should have talked before deciding to get her a dog lmao.

Kodai - she takes standard care of her dog and is really appreciative for the little guy but its a bit hard to tell just how much she cares for the dog on the surface. Her dog follows her around so much and simply sits with her when in groups and stuff. Her dog has her personality lmao

Komori - she loves the dog so much. She uses pet safe dye and keeps giving her dog crazy colors and making them little outfits and stuff <3 her little fasion model frfr

Shiozaki - she loves the dog so much <3 trained them to help her dig in the yard for her garden and plants. Pretty standard reaction overall other than the garden thing

Shishida - bro probably told his s/o that giving someone a dog without talking about it before hand is irresponsible because dogs are a lot to take care of but after the initial thank yous and lecture he spoils his dog way more than he should. He treats his dog better then most people treat their lovers lmaoo. Anyways dog is spoiled as hell

Shoda - he has the most energetic dog ever and its so funny watching him and his dog together because shoda is always just standing there and his dog is just running up the walls and doing back flips next to him lmaoo. Overall he really liked getting a dog for his birthday

yeahhhhh finally made the little husband man!!!!! i've been procrastinating continuing the hb line for a lil while, + i've been burnt out from modeling so i dropped it for a while, but i'm back! and i made the lil guy! i'm so so happy with how he came out! he looks so nervous in this lil pose ahhhhh i absolutely love him :] he used a similar color palette and anatomy to millie which made it easy to come back n make him. his palette is the same as hers + 6 extra colors: 4 shades of navy for the jacket n 2 deeper shades of white for the hair, since millie used only 3 shades bcos she has very few white spots. also reused the same render background as her because theyre like a couple! its nice! but also because i'm vv lazy and don't want to make a new one. i am so so excited to do some stuff with this model. i GOTTA pose him n millie holding hands. giving him a lil blush would be cute as fuck, i'm so excited for that. also gonna hopefully make blitzo soon! i rlly want to get the main 4 cast out for halloween, and hopefully FINALLY get my store set up for that so ppl have access to them for spooky month. might make another model or two before that though, but i feel like i'm on a solid push to make some more models rn while i have some time away from school cos of health stuff. anyway!!! that's all for tonight, goodnight weird people!!!!!!

things i gained a heightened appreciation for in this venture: the way that megs' pelvis design elements look like he has a jacket tied around his waist. CUTE. his BIIIIIG fucking boots i didnt get to show off. his faaaaaaaace chiseling. oppies 1:1 accuracy little windshield wipers. difference in frame between them (most of the robots seem to have narrow waists but i like that i can accurately draw megs still a little Built there. fun!) the joiiiiinnnnntt articulation logic on these guys is so neat kudos to. franchise full of robot designers that are extra incentivized to make them at least somewhat real-world workable.

+ honorable mention: THEYRE SO WIIIIIIIIIIIIIDE. taking up the entire 4:3 frame space in episodes. throwing out half the oversketch notes i took of the csp models bc they simply did not matter and would not be visible underneath both of these guys blocking each other kjghsdf

I’ve been peeking in your art for a bit and it’s absolutely lovely ! Specially your hades fanart? It’s so so good, I wanted to ask what brush you use for your lineart? It gives such a nice touch to your art I’m curious haha, so sorry if you’ve answered this already

thanks a lot! and i don't think i've said what brushes i use before so i might as well give a full rundown. i use CSP with a mix of default and downloaded brushes

i'm assuming you're talking about my chaos drawing? for the lineart here i used the default milli pen with anti-aliasing set to minimum. this is basically just a round pixelated brush with no pressure sensitivity so i think you should be able to get a similar effect on other software pretty easily. (this specific illustration also used the technique of copying the lineart layer, setting it to a strong saturated color (eg bright pink or purple), blurring it a little and setting the layer to reduced opacity. this adds to the crunchyness and might be the effect youre looking for!)

this pixelated effect is one i find really fun personally. the optimal brush size in my experience has been 5-9 with this brush, with occasionally 3-4 for detail lines

as for other art, sometimes when i'm not feeling the pixel effect i used the same milly pen brush but with the second anti-aliasing setting. it keeps the lines crisp but not pixelated (example)

although recently i found the wiggly brush on the asset store that can work as an inbetween alternative. still in progress with the drawing im testing it on and while i think i'll stick to the milli pen it adds an interesting texture

you didn't ask about rendering brushes but i'll say anyways. my other three main brushes come from the arubrush set i saw someone mention on tumblr i believe? theyre by knight zhang the link is in the faq section. i downloaded a the motherboard set and experimented until i found a few i liked, though there's a lot of stuff worth checking out in there!

i used the painterly and alector brush for any painting and rendering. the chaos piece was done using a mix of both (mostly the alector brush) for the shading.

this oc painting was done almost exclusively with the alector brush, while this melinoe piece was done with the painterly brush, if you want to compare the textural differences.

and i use the last one for sketches occasionally! its more textured than i prefer for finished works but its really nice to draw with

Yeah well, I was gonna try to do that with this version, but it is so unbelievably, completely, utterly, insanely unhinged that I just had to have my post about it match the energy. i actually wanted to draw kirfluff but my need to draw elfilis took over and my hands and back hurt like hell so i didnt draw the rest of stuff i wanted. maybe i could draw it later or tomorrow but im posting this now before i fall asleep or something and dont post.

It was also an excuse to draw the redesign of my fecto gijinka i had made a few weeks ago so, yeah it was fun.

Tho i might make some adjustments to my gijinka if i see fit. also in this drawing he has some differences from the actual gijinka, mainly, the little hearts arent like that in my gijinka and the bangs here have been tied up because i wasnt feeling like drawing them since theyre really long. also the lashes, but here i kinda tried doing their eyes differently and then colored them so i might make my lis gijinka have his eyes like this or change them, im not sure.

tho the more i look at the drawing, the more dissatisfied i become, i mean i did it yesterday around night and stuff so i didnt really think that much about it, (it took around seven hours and i finished it at like 1 am, i definitly wasnt the most concious at that time) but i feel like something is missing i dunno

maybe its the coloring, i had to remake the shading a lot of times since i didnt know how to do it, my style is really inconsistent a lot of times, going from cell shading to soft shading to mixing them both and so on so forth with a lot more of that.

i do have a sketch with some half finished lineart i did of one of the ideas i had (i was originally going to do more pieces with more characters but i didnt go trough it cuz i knew i wouldnt be able to do it in time) but im too embarassed of it to post it

warioware styled text gifs tutorial

making this cuz someone on art fight asked me how i made these. feel free to ignore

STEP 1

download a font. the one i used was WarioWare Original !

STEP 2

its not required but its highly recommended you get Aseprite if you dont have it already! its a powerful tool for sprite animation. if you dont have the money for it though you can always use browser based sprite animation tools like Piskel ! you can also use regular art software and export the frames separately if you wish.

STEP 3

in whatever program youre using type out what word(s) you want your gif to have! the text size for the crispiest pixels is 15. once its typed out space each letter apart so that theres 2 pixels of empty space between each letter, like so:

after spacing them out, add the outline. warioware used sharp edged outlines, so dont leave out the corners!

STEP 5

now we'll apply the shading to the bottom of the letters. i dont have the exact colors but the ones i used are #dbdbdb (219, 219, 219) and #bfbfbf (191, 191, 191). these colors can also be changed if youd rather use a red or something, but keep in mind theyre very light colors. examples of this can be seen in my art fight global character perms!

STEP 6

this next part isnt required but unless you like redrawing the same pixels over and over then go ahead and move every other letter to a second layer! this is because during the animation, the letter's outlines will overlap each other so its best to make another layer so you wont have to redraw them

STEP 7

here's where we begin animating! the animation starts with the first letter moving up and the rest of the letters following suit, one after the other. this animation is 5 frames long so it wont be terribly long of a process. on the first frame move your first letter up by one pixel:

STEP 8

leading off from the previous frame, for the 2ND FRAME move it one pixel to the left. after that, for the 3RD FRAME, move it down two pixels. for the 4TH FRAME, move it one pixel to the right. lastly, for the 5TH FRAME, its position will remain unchanged from where it started, as seen in the 3rd image in this tutorial.

if done correctly it should look like this so far:

STEP 9

now, do the same thing to all the other letters, but remember to keep their movements one frame off from the previous letter (i.e. if the first letter moves up on the first frame, then the second letter moves up on the second frame, and then the third letter will move up on the third frame, and so on). if done correctly it will look like this:

the finishing touches! the speed i use for these animations is 50ms/frame or 20fps. to make these gifs larger without them looking like complete ass i upscale them using the "nearest neighbor" method. its best enlarge by values of 100 (200%, 300%, etc.)

here's what the final gif should look like if everything was done correctly, but youre free to change anything about this too. this is just a guide on how i personally make these gifs. if youre wanting to make shaky text like in WarioWare, inc. and WarioWare: Twisted!, its not really something i can describe well enough to make a post about. my best advice would be to use VisualBoy Advance, open a Mega Microgame$! ROM, and use the next frame tool to look at how each letter shakes individually. anyway thats all! hope youll find this useful!

OHHH HOOHHH I HAVE OPINIONS ABOUT THIS ONE. and im mostly refering to this poll as my mesurement of the fandom and i am genuinely shocked blue got the lowest amount of votes. i get where the ppl who think its pink are coming from but i am coming at this question biologically speaking and metaphorically speaking.

k so, in real life, there are animals that exist that have blue colored blood, mostly cephelopods/lobsters and sometimes [you guessed it], BUGS! [rollypollys and spiders have blue blood]. i took real life knowlege of animals into account when making my version of irken anatomy.[WHICHSOMEONESHOULDASKMEABOUT-], anyways, human skin and fat, like pure skin/fat itself, is a transparent[ish] yellow[this is why (unmelanited) skin is a light orange/peach]. blue + yellow is green[besides my irkens lean more towards a turquoise then green anyways].

dont even get me started on my color metaphors in my headcanons/works.

human blood is red, a color I assosiate with irkens and zim especially. red's color connotation says that red is a color of passion, anger, life(pay attention to this last one it will come in handy if you read my works hehe).

irken blood i headcanon as blue, a color assosiated with dib [listen ive got the zadr worms on the brain okay??]. Zim and Dib were always suposed to be on the same level, a stalemate, yk? i use this part of them to represent that, that they ultimately are the same. theres a way to express this in better terms but i cant think of it rn :P
