Note
I've always wanted to say this, but I never did because compliments kind of make me feel awkward. Basically, what I want to say is that you are *the* Death Note blog. It’s been years, and your blog is still the blueprint. Everything is organized and tagged, and it has everything from fanfiction to headcanons and canon content. You always answer your anons politely, and you never seem bored or rude, even when some questions tend to get repeated. I'm just really impressed by this because I'm so lazy. Every time I enter a new fandom, I always search for a blog like yours and get disappointed when there isn't one. Basically, this is just me complimenting you, and I hope you never delete your blog

awww, thx so much for telling me anon! 🧡 Really does mean a lot to know it's appreciated like that, and that it's meaningful and useful to you. I do it all for fun and for free and for myself anyway, but I'm so glad to hear that. And I'm also glad that I have not deleted it nor abandoned it ever in all these years as well, that's basically a first for me with any social media account I've run
#also despite what i said in my last post's tag ranting i think IT IS FINE TO BE LAZY lol#i am lazy in 90% of all areas of my life#in fact dare i say it's even a type of smart to be lazy sometimes like when somebody else will do everything for you#think sayu getting light to do her math homework for her...#but if i ever want to brag and/or whine about something it's probably about the things i'm NOT lazy about instead that's all#ask#anon#nice things#p

Witch Among Gods
Light Yagami x Reader Pt. 2
Pt.1
A/N- so I came up with a name for this little series, Yay!
Here's the next bit.
Yagami’s room was exactly what you would expect from a kid like him. All books, no fun. Now don’t get me wrong, I love reading. Transporting myself to a different world with amazing characters and life that’s actually interesting. But I bet if I were to get a closer look at Yagami’s bookshelves, all I would find are textbooks. Maybe the occasional book that was assigned for a language arts class. Absolutely nothing interesting or fun. Just like him.
“How are you able to see Ryuk?” Yagami asks me as I look around his room.
“Why is your room so boring?” I counter, sitting on his bed.
“You're avoiding the question. How can you see him?” Yagami persists.
“Even I’m interested in how,” The thing, Ryuk, says.
“I just can, all right,” I tell him. There’s no way I’m going to tell him that I’m a witch.
Light just stares at me. Like he’s trying to read my mind. Oh, shit maybe he can! I mean he did summon a Shinigami, somehow. I need to think of something. Lalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalala.
Light door knob jiggles like someone’s trying to get in. I didn’t even realize he locked it. Really shows how unobservant I am.
“Huh? Weird.” The person on the other side says, “Hey, Light, what’s going on? Why is your door locked?”
“What is it, Sayu?” Yagami asks. Must be his little sister.
“Can you help me with my homework?”
“Uh, yeah, but I have a friend over.”
He gets up to unlock his door.
“I didn’t know you had friends.” Sayu teases him.
“He doesn’t. We were just working on a school project.” I answer before Yagami can, “And I am leaving so you two can get to that homework.”
“Awe, don’t leave.” Sayu whines, “We’re doing quadratic equations in math. I need as much help as I can,” Sayu walks over and sits at Yagami's desk, “I’m like the only one in my class who doesn’t get this stuff.”
“I mean I don’t know how much help I’ll be. I hate math.” I tell her.
“And yet you still get high marks in math.” Yagami comments.
“Hey, what’s your name?” Sayu asks, swirling the chair in circles.
“My name is L/N Y/N.”
“You should stay for dinner. I’m sure Mom wouldn’t mind, and then I could get to know you.” Sayu suggests.
Ryuk starts laughing, “This just keeps getting better and better. Also, I’d be careful if I were the two of you. If anyone else touches that notebook youve got hidden in the drawer right now, they’ll be able to see me too.”
Light stops and stares at Ryuk for a second. He really isn’t good at keeping a secret.
“What’s wrong? Are you alright?” Sayu asks her big brother.
“Hm? Oh, nothing. So, what exactly don’t you understand?”

It was past midnight, but Light was still revising his notes. Such was the life of someone preparing for their entrance exams. Late nights studying had been life for years for him, and he was okay with it. Not happy, nor depressed, just... Okay.
If the house hadn't been so quiet, maybe he would've missed the creaky sound of a door opening and closing, followed by quick steps that stopped outside his bedroom. But he heard it clearly, and so he stopped reading. He waited patiently for a few seconds, that turned into a minute, then two.
With a sigh, he got up from his desk, and went to open the door, then stared down at his sister. Sayu was looking at her feet, hands holding her school bag, visible shaking. A wave of brotherly concern washed over him.
"Hey, Sayu, what's wrong?" He whispered, guessing that his sister didn't want the attention of their parents.
"I... I need to talk to you. Can I come in?" She finally looked up, eyes puffy, tears rolling silently.
He nodded, opening the door fully to let her step in. She went straight for the bed, sitting down, still clutching her bag. Light closed the door and locked it, then took his desk chair and sat on it, giving his sister some space.
He didn't say anything, just waited patiently while Sayu silently tried to calm herself. It didn't came as a surprise, that nightly visit. For the past few days, he had noticed his sister behaving differently, even somewhat erratically.
She wasn't her usual cheerful, loud self. All week she hadn't come by and ask for help with her math homework, she just kept to herself in her room, and he didn't tell anyone, but he could hear her crying late at night, when she thought that even he was in bed.
He knew she would eventually come around and ask for help, like she always did, so he didn't mention anything. But he noticed, he noticed every single thing.
It took around ten minutes, but slowly, the tears finally came to a stop, and she left the bag on the bed, still holding it with her left hand, while the other one tugged to the end of her pyjama shirt.
"Light..." She croaked more than spoke. She cleared her throat and started again. "Light, there's something I wanted to talk about. It's not easy, and honestly, I don't know if you... If you could look at me the same way." She kept her eyes trained to her right hand.
"Sayu, there's nothing that will make me-"
"No, Light!" She finally looked at him, and he took a deep breath. There was so much fear in his sister's eyes, but also this... Fierceness on it. It made him think of ice for some reason. "Don't tell me that. This is not a regular secret. So please, don't- don't speak, not until I'm finished. Please." He nodded. She looked at an empty space by his side, then back at him. "This week, I have been thinking, hard. All my life, all I ever wanted was... To do something. I never knew what, but I wanted to make a difference, somehow. And I got- This week I got this..." She closed her eyes, scrunching her nose in concentration. "I found this- this tool, and I thought I could finally make a difference."
When she opened her eyes again, the tears came back at full force, and she brought both hands to her chest, openly sobbing now. Light was quick to go by her side, and hugged her, which only seemed to make the crying get worse.
"But I-I can't. I can't take it. I can't take it anymore, Light. I need help. I don't- I'm not a good person." He could barely make out what she said, but he let her get everything out. "Light, I've done- I've been doing something so horrible." She gently pushed herself away, and he let her move.
She didn't go too far, however. She just sat up straight to grab her bag. Sayu opened it, rummaging through it for a moment, and pulled out a black notebook from it. Carefully, she opened it, flipping a few pages that were full with writing.
"It's going to be hard to believe, but... This notebook, it can-" She was still talking through her sobs, and had to pause to let out a big one before continuing. "It can... kill people. I tried it with a criminal, and- and it worked. So I kept writing. I've been writing criminals on it, just... I couldn't stop!" Her hands were white from the strength on her clutch. "I felt, for once, that I mattered. That I was making... Making a difference." She looked at the same empty space as before, right by Light's chair, then back at him. "But something happened. Tonight. I knew... I knew you wouldn't believe me, but I think now you..." She snapped her head to look back at the empty room. "He needs to touch it, right? And then he'll see you?" She waited, as if she was listening to someone.
Light didn't even know how to begin processing this. 'Maybe she's been having a mental breakdown, stress, or something at school', he thought. 'Maybe her friends are pulling a prank on her, or she's pulling one on me'.
"Sayu, listen..." He started, a tense smile on his lips. She looked back at him.
"Light, please. You have to believe me." She closed the notebook and handed it to him. The words 'Death Note' were written on the cover. If it was a prank, it was quite elaborate, he had to give it to Sayu. "Hold this."
"Okay, okay..." He indulged her, grabbing the notebook and opening it to the first page, that seemed to have some sort of rules written in English. "There, happy?"
"I wouldn't say happy, but it's certainly entertaining." A raspy voice came from the same side of the room Sayu was having a 'conversation' with, and Light felt his blood freeze. Slowly, he turned his head, just to find a pair of yellow eyes with red pupils staring at him from the darkness. Nothing was natural about it, from the glowing light coming from that stare, to the whole shadow that was way too big for a human. "Name's Ryuk. Nice to meet you, big bro."
#sayu yagami#light yagami#kira#death note#dn#au#oh look i can still write maybe#i may write the second part where light comes to terms with it and agrees to help sayu#and they both become kira#or not cause idk where this came from#this is obviously not original and has been done before but it's my take on it#hi
