Summer Heat surpassed 100k words this chapter update! 🥳 The longest fic I've written is 115k (for another fandom over a decade ago) and I have a feeling this one will likely approach/surpass it. There are 3 planned chapters left and then the sequel - so who knows how long the story in true will be.

I haven't written a series like this before so I hope that I'm making the correct decision by starting a whole new story with the sequel instead of continuing in Summer Heat. Summer Heat was always meant to be contained to the week of the Summer Solstice Summit so expanding beyond it feels fitting to create a new story all together.

Anyways lots of big things on the horizon. In between the end of Summer Heat and starting the sequel I'm going to take a small break to work on some one shot ideas - for multiple ships. Maybe actually start tackling some of my ideas for Elucien and Eris weeks. And of course me and @crazy-ache are going to continue working on our collab story Dear Lucien, Dear Elain - which the response to has been so rewarding!!! I have a feeling this won't be the only story we collab on. 😉

hey can i be sappy for a moment, i feel like getting a thing off my chest (positive vent)

I love you all in the SMG4 Tumblr community so much. Y'all are absolutely epic and amazing and so creative and just. chill.

I've always been so nervous about joining set fandoms/fandom communities, cuz usually the community is huge and overwhelming, toxic, scary, crazy, and the idea of being in those communities and interacting with people in those communities and being in there not just to post a dingle fanart from it and dip, but to help be a big part of the community and whatnot sounded... overwhelming.

Then I slowly began getting super hyperfixated on SMG4, much more than I usually am, leading me to post more about it. Fanart, things I notice, goofy theories... more than just me saying a couple things i like about it, posting a fanart, then moving onto something else.

I started kinda just exploring the SMG4 tags and gradually, I began recognizing most of the people in this community more and more -- recognizing art styles, etc. I noticed how small a community it was.

And it was a mostly chill community. I wasn't really seeing much drama or questionable things, maybe some criticisms about the show or theories or whatever, but nobody was at each others throats. Plus, the fan OCs were super neat.

I had begun posting more and more SMG4 content, drawing fanart, their OCs, and the fact people were so just... chill and welcoming about it was so nice. It wasn't nearly as scary -- we are all just vibing here. Most of the artists you look up to will probably see your work, and give it attention too.

It feels super strange to be considered an SMG4 Tumblr artist, having people literally enjoying the things I make and making things for me when they make things for SMG4 fanartists... its honestly super surreal. But so so exciting and euphoric.

Cuz yall are so awesome!! Yall make my day so bright. Yall are the best.

I'll be honest, when I first was slowly being a part of the SMG4 community -- sometime right after summer vacation began -- I had been dealing with some petty but difficult irl person issues.

I don't want to get into it too much, but I had basically messed up in a pretty bad way (enough to make me feel bad the moment I did it, but not enough that we couldn't move on and mature from it), and the people involved were hurt worse than I thought they were, and instead of trying to talk it out they resorted lying about being my friends for months before school ended, and over summer break, tried to cancel one of my Scratch account and drag my followers there into drama that they had no business being in, for the simple reason being "you don't deserve all that fame".

Despite their attempt at trying to cancel me not really working out very well, it very much affected me negatively and made me very very scared about using Scratch again. I still post projects there sometimes, but i felt weird when i do it. I felt like those people were watching my every move, waiting to try and drag me down again. It felt so strange and scary to feel like the people I once cared so deeply about are breathing down my neck, waiting for me to make another wrong move and add it to their proof of why I'm an awful person.

It sucks ass.

The SMG4 community here on Tumblr, despite none of you knowing I was going through anything at all, you all helped a lot. Just existing.

Being a welcoming community that I feel safe to be silly and normal in.

I've never been the best at expressing appreciation, but let me just say:

I think of you all so highly and I never want you to change.

Keep making silly art. Or fanfics. Or AUs. Or OCs. Or whatever you like doing in this tiny close-knit fandom.

i tried to push the gold in their design by making the eyeshadow really obvious and giving them gold lips. enjoy their lacy dress too... i tried to design something which they could dance comfortably in

I am back again to complain about the lack of fan fiction for a character that I'm still hyperfixated on. Who's the lucky character? You may ask Jordan Li from Gen v. Now, I have read front to back every single Jordan Li fanfiction under the Jordan Li x reader tag. Can someone explain to me why it's always a character that I like that people don't really write for then write a lot for then stop writing for. It's like, dang yall move on so fast. And i'm pretty sure there's a lot of LiMoreau fics but I'm and xreader girly. And the crazy thing is, I didn't even like Jordan at first. But you all know how it is then TikTok, edits, they be making you fall in love rq. And it's so crazy how that happens. Because at first you'll be like they're mid. And then you'll see a bomb ass edit and you'll be like, 😮‍💨 *opens tumblr*.

Unlike my Hobie brown obsession, I'm not gonna beg for anyone to write. I'm just gonna ask for someone to add at least a little more fluff. Like, don't get me wrong. -I love their designs & aesthetic. I've never found them truly scary. I love bright colors and loud designs! And they can have such pretty, elaborate outfits.

-I love goofy, unhinged personalities. Absolute agents of chaos that just want to have fun, and challenge societal expectations.

-My gremlin self that enjoys scaring people does get a kick out of seeing them unnerve people. To an extent anyways. I genuinely feel bad if they look at my babies and go "Ugh gross creepy clowns ew" (though Roscoe would to some degree take it as a compliment, lmao)

-There's a lot of the Evil Killer Clown stereotype that I dislike. Mostly design-wise. I still love crazy kooks like Jevil, Kefka, Spinel, the original Pennywise, etc. I just don't like the ugly wrinkly-ballsack faces that killer clowns typically have, lmao. I do like the scarier aesthetic around Halloween time because I'm an adrenaline junkie with a fear kink, unnerving gives me the heebie-jeebies in the best way 👍

-All of this combined makes for very strong Ler potential. Big unhinged goofs that just want to make people laugh :3c

Currently reading: Monster High by Lisi Harrison. Seriously kind of an insane book, I'm liking it a lot more than I did when I was the target audience. A much different tone than the animated shorts or movies. There's an underlying racial tension between monsters and humans that's barely prevalent in the cartoon/movie series? The perspective also switches between Frankie and a human named Melody, which is pretty cool. Love her writing style, excited to finish the series!

Current obsession: My Trigun hyperfixation is sort of lingering in the background, and I guess Mike Patton/Faith No More in general has been on my mind a lot lately. Also getting back into QOTSA hella since I'm seeing them twice in September <3

Yall I am in the middle of a Ace Attorney hyperfixation and I just finished Turnabout for Tomorrow (fantastic closer holly shit) so let's talk a bit!!

I desperately wanna talk about the dark age of the law

First thoughts! I dont know how well the series will stick the landing with SoJ, but after some thought Im pretty happy with how it connects with Apollo Justice and continues the world the series set up in this regard.

Style aside, in world it makes so much sense why the public slowly lost faith in the legal system with all the acidents in the trilogy (I'm specially looking at Rise from the Ashes as the case thats meant to transition us and set up to AJ) and AJ where people connected to the legal system show to have their hands dirty (in AJ I can remember the chief of justice, detective sharkboy himself, ...Kristoff - and he was a member of the bar as well ouch...). There is no category of person involved in the legal system we didn't have arested at some poin

The one the game explicit calls out too with Phoenix! Like urg we saw the man had buit such as reputation for himself over the years Apollo was still starry-eyed meating him (we also see that in Trials and Tribulations with the start of Recipe and Phoenix helping spirit mediums slowly regain credibility in teh eyes of the public), I can't imagine how much of a public scandal it was when people recived the news they couldn't trust him and all the results he' had got over the years.

I also think being on a verge of a legal collapse also retroactively explains AJs much darker tone where even the defendents Apollo had were all guilty of some crime. Im still not sure about the implementation of the dark age in game (it can be a bit comedic how they keep mentioning it by its full Dark Age Of The LawTM title), but I can't deny all the building blocks are there in a way that it feels like the natural progression of the world, specially after the way things ended in turnabout succession.

I also like Simon's trial as a straw that breaks the camel's back situation. We have policeman, bailiffs, detectives, defense attorneys, prosecutors, the people at the very top of the judicial system (I believe we are only missing a judge criminal moment lmaooo One day! Unless that's in Investigations lol) and then this guy apparently just straight up cold blooded killed someone, no tragic backstory like Godot, no apparent motive just kills someone and sets bombs off??? Fucking crazy stuff, I kinda love it.

Last thoughts on the dark age and how it connects with AJ, but I can see how addressing this plot here could work as a soft reboot for the series in the future, like I've seen people claiming the game is meant to be! A big part of AJ as a game is showing how ineffective the legal system can be with its rules (we had to use forged evidence to trick Kristoff in case 1, I dont remember how we got Alita (that had so many parts to make it work whichis the premise of that case), but Daryan had to be threatened with his accomplice, and Kristoff wouldn't be convicted again if Phoenix didn't orchestrate a jury because we never had one piece of truly decisive evidence in any of these cases) I feel like bringing all the darkness we uncovered -pun intended- and resolving it can be used in the future to bring back a lighter tone without all the baggage. We will see!!

I'm curious if the DLC case will give me more to think about but these are my thoughts on how the Dark age TM is set up before Dual Destinies. Hope you guys like the analysis I get very enthusiastic for themes :)

i really feel like God put this on my heart today---its crazy how sometimes idols arent even false gods, but can be literally anything that *exists*. idolatry can be having a hyperfixation on a show or media, an obsession with a person or certain people, or even just a genuine worry like a concern about finishing work or something. literally any sort of unnatural hyperfocus on something that isn't God. God hit me in the face with that this morning through a video. i know its pretty obvious, but this is *why* its so important to be still and acknowledge God (psalm 46:10). how can we live our lives without putting first The Lord of our lives? its stressed beyond stressed in ecclesiastes how much everything is fleeting, not to say every single aspect of our lives is irrelevant in the eyes of God. But He just wants us to bring those aspects and areas to Him FIRST, so our concern for them doesnt swell up into a big fat figurative golden calf that we find ourselves dancing around. for, "Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to your life?" (luke 12:25/Matthew 6:27) what good is it worrying and stressing about everything under the sun? always put everything at His feet yall 💙

Especially if you’re both doing your own thing, like you just being in the room with him (playing a game or reading or smthn) while he does his paperwork is so soothing to him

he’s very proud of his demon form but also kind of shy so it’ll take some coaxing to get him to let you touch his horns but when he sees how content it makes you? It’s his new favourite hobby letting you play with his hair and horns during movies

He WILL adopt your love language and mannerisms:

if you bump people he will start knocking into you constantly, (wrists, hips, shoulders, head, any and all on random repeat)

if you like to collect and give things to people he will a. Hoard them in a little shrine (that he Denys. having) and b. Start looking for things he can give you back

If you rub textures you like you’ll find him stroking your arms/face/jumper right back (sometimes with his face, but only ever in private because he feels vulnerable using such a soft form of affection)

He’s very chill with you being non verbal because either he’s absorbed in his own game/anime/show or it means there’s more room for him to talk about his interests

That being said if your special interests/ hyperfixations don’t line up on any given day? The bickering over who’s turn it is to infodump gets intense (this is the one source of all your arguments)

All the other brothers are kind of terrified/jealous of your relationship, especially when they see you talking about a shared special interest because you talk rapid fire and very in-depth. to them it’s almost like you’re talking in code or another language because they know all the individual words but what the everloving fuck are you on about

Asmodeus:

Has specific outfits he wears when he wants you to hug him (which is always). They’re made out of the softest material, or any clothing of his you’ve expressed a texture interest in.

Finds it so amusing when you come rushing over to rub your face against his chest bc mmmmm softsoftsoft

Likes to text you in the morning to see how you’re feeling (and how sensory sensitive you are because god forbid his outfit with chains and jangles stops him from seeing you)

Understands better than Anyone that affection and love can be shown in a whole barrage of ways not just physically

Figures out how you show affection faster than any of the other brothers

Immediately starts reciprocating it (partly bc he’s selfishly trying to make you love him most)

Satan:

Will learn about your special interests so he can engage you on the topic

Is the ONLY person in the house you can talk about any special interest with, no matter how niche because he loves learning (although he does prefer the *academic* side of them rather than pop culture but he will listen to both)

*academic* as in something involving learning about something or crafting or *how* to do something, not just like, maths

You’re pretty much the only person who can keep up with him in terms of knowledge and enthusiasm (even if it’s only for very specific things) and thus you become the person he talks to about his interests

Originally kind of annoyed by how absentminded you are (because you forget several dates) but once you get settled into a routine he starts to find it cute how habitual you are, and then realises it could work to his advantage.

He then schedules a date into your weekly routine (or biweekly depending on your energy levels) so you start to get upset if it’s missed bc it’s part of your routine. (Satan is ridiculously smart and is very much willing to manipulate your routine to his (and yours) advantage, he is a demon after all)

Beelzebub:

Gives the best squishes. He’s just so big he can literally envelope you (in other news he is terrified of hurting you so he’s very nervous at first, he’s used to huggin ppl very gently bc he is a muscle mountain)

Maybe don’t use chew stims around him (unless he’s eating) because seeing you use them will either make him hungry, or he’ll ask to see it and oops it’s been swallowed hope you didn’t want that back (he’s very apologetic he really didn’t mean to but it was in his mouth and chewed before he could think)

Literally the kindest man in the universe, if you have issues with shame or *guilt* (especially if it creeps outta nowhere or it relates to not being able to do something) he will a. Reassure you and give you cuddles until you feel okay (or one on one bonding time if you’re too touch sensitive) then b. Go help with whatever task was too much so you don’t have to worry

My name is Robin (any pronouns), and I’m terrible at describing myself but I’ll give it a go! I’d say I’m pretty outgoing, I really like talking to people and getting to know them. I’ve been told I seem like I know a lot of people, but I’m basically just friendly to everyone while only really having a handful of solid friends. I hope that makes sense ahsgdg. I used to be painfully shy but I’ve turned it around the past few years and learned to just go for it, it’s done wonders for my confidence. I love trying to make people laugh, my sense of humour is some mix of 12 year old boy and weird old woman. I’m from Scotland but I live in America, so my accent and tendency to swear too much stems mostly from my family and watching too much Billy Connolly as a kid lmao. Probably why I hate the heat as well. I’m constantly taking pictures and videos whenever I’m with friends, and I keep things like movie tickets in a sort of makeshift journal/sketchbook. I think I’ve got a fear of forgetting people and experiences, so I like documenting small moments. Apart from that I like anything storytelling based, so I’m into writing when I actually take the time to quit daydreaming. I love ‘kid’s’ media that have a darker slant to them, namely The Owl House, Over the Garden Wall, and Laika Studios movies. My hyperfixations change but right now I’m into Stranger Things, Top Gun, and Wes Anderson. As for hobbies, I’ve been playing bass for about 6 years, and I’ve been doing kickboxing and mma for almost a year. Music-wise I mostly like rock and punk leaning bands like Pinkshift and MCR (try before you deny), although I have a soft spot for Taylor Swift and ABBA in particular. My ideal date is probably something fun like a concert that we’d both enjoy, or going to see a late showing of some shitty movie and then making fun of it while walking back. Uhh my favourite colour is purple, favourite character in media is a tie between Kate Bishop and Inej Ghafa, and my favourite season is Autumn! i think bradley would adore you, your confidence, your sense of humour, and the music taste (yes he would learn your fave songs on the piano to play for you). going into more detail, i think rooster would love the concept of making a scrapbook or something of sorts to document memories together. he would also be so interested in your hobbies and would want to do them with you (i vividly imagined you knocking rooster on his ass while sparring sorry). also, the thought of you two going to a concert together is so cool, he would def be the type to pick you up on his shoulders so you can get a better view and take pics if you want! in conclusion, yall would be an adorable couple i'd love to see it.

i think season three is good, but there are a few things about it that absolutely enrage me to an overdramatic amount, and here i shall list them lol. also this will be in more than one ask because i have too many thoughts. ok, the first is how hopper went from trying his best to threatening children, having that "girls can't choose who they date they aren't smart" mindset, gaslighting Joyce/not believing her when she has basically always been correct, and tricking her into a date?? 1/? lol

next, i hate how they went "here, take billy's sad childhood and him saving el and forgive his racist actions! go! FETCH!" and we were supposed to be like "yayyy! what a nice guy!!!" you know? like... a sad childhood isn't redemption? it may vaguely explain things, but not excuse them? i also was disappointed with el and max's friendship being based off them being mean to their (admittedly mediocre) boyfriends? like- yall are in 8th grade dating sucks why are we being mean just communicate? 2/?

and it felt like max and el's friendship was supposed to come of as this "wow FEMINISM!" thing, and it really wasn't at all? i mean i could totally see kids perceiving this "girls rule boys drool" thing as empowering, but i just wish that if they are going to go the whole (adorable) "sleepovers, wonder woman, shopping, normal, not-supernaturalish (if that makes sense)" female friendship, they didn't base it on... well... men?

(i'm sorry i'm saying so much lol) they are also setting up problems for character development and writing. if they continue to add characters for no reason, characters are going to keep loosing purpose because there are less roles to fill than actual characters. Admittedly, the characters they add for seemingly no reason are usually so fun that i end up shutting my mouth and taking back my complaint? like max, robin, erica, not you billy, alexi, heather, etc. 4/? so i’m gonna be honest man the only thing i agree with you on is that the way they handled billy was bullshit. i wholeheartedly disagree with all the rest but i’m very glad you got it all off your chest kjdcnmnd like. i’m gonna share my thoughts on some of this and i REALLY don’t mean to be rude i just like talking about stranger things so please don’t take this as me trying to argue or whatever bc that is not my intention!!

so i don’t think hopper having a problem with el and mike has anything to do with him thinking el isn’t smart or that she can’t make her own decisions. el’s a kid, and she’s only been allowed to be a kid for like... two years, max? he’s worried that she’s growing up too fast, mourning the inevitable end of her childhood which has just barely begun, and yeah, he’s overprotective, too, but he’s pretty clearly painted as being in the wrong for how he handled things. he changed his ways by the end of the season, and through the speech he wrote it’s clear that his issues stemmed from his own fears of her growing up, not from him thinking she was stupid. change isn’t typically sudden or easy, and i really do think that hopper was trying his best at the start of s3 (he lets el hang out with her friends as much as she wants, trusts her to roam freely and keep herself safe, etc). he just still had a little way to go.

i also don’t personally see how hopper “tricked” joyce into a date when she agreed to go and then didn’t show up. joyce is an adult, and she was perfectly capable of telling hopper no (she actually did tell him no once, and then didn’t object later). he was never threatening or manipulative to her. he was a total bitch after he got stood up, and they did overdo it, but he most certainly wasn’t gaslighting her. he genuinely didn’t think that there was something going on! he thought she was paranoid due to her trauma, trauma that he personally has been through and is sympathetic to. he still helped her check things out, even when he didn’t think there was a real problem, because he wanted to give her peace of mind. while you can argue he was dumb or disrespectful not to believe her, he didn’t have any intention of making joyce feel crazy or of deceiving her.

and the reason that the kids aren’t communicating well in s3 is because they’re... well, kids. have you ever seen an eighth-grade relationship where both parties communicate maturely about their problems? if they were older i would agree that the conflict was dumb, but it makes perfect sense for kids their age. i also don’t really have an issue (personally) with how the elmax friendship started. the whole point is that el came to max asking for dating advice, and max shows el that she doesn’t have to revolve her whole life around her boyfriend, she can develop her own identity and be her own person.

a lot of people in the fandom share your trepidation about adding new characters, so i’m definitely outnumbered here, but i don’t personally have a problem with it at all. i think alexei could have been better-utilized, but his existence didn’t interfere or detract from anything with existing characters. in fact, i think he gave murray some more development and allowed for more dynamic interactions between joyce and hopper. max and robin were both “new characters,” and i’m not being hyperbolic when i say they’re two of the best-written and best-acted characters in the show. when i go back and watch s1 now, things just feel wrong without max, and robin is a revelation. i think that adding new characters makes the world of stranger things feel more organic and allows for the stakes to remain somewhat high without making the writers feel like they have to kill off one of our beloved OGs. 

russian terminator... yeah you’re right that shit was weird as fuck. i don’t think hopper killing the dudes down in the base was “toxic masculinity” or anything though like he’s a veteran and the guys he killed were all soldiers and he was just trying to get to the gate to shut it down no matter the cost, yknow? it was a matter of life and death, and with a giant monster trying to kill his daughter i think him killing anyone in the way of him preventing that is kind of... fair. but yeah i don’t really get the point of terminator guy like it was so fucking weird sdknckdnm

omg to get this ask right after publishing that ask about stealing wisconsin fast plants in the 6th grade.... i know ive told this story before but its been a while since my last ‘how did i get into this’ ask so:

okay. always knew i wanted to get into biology. was dinosaur/paleontology kid, then veterinarian kid, then zoology-but-not-too-passionate-about-anything-but-wolves-kid, and then it was in like, early high school and they sent out this thing about an opportunity for unpaid internships through the local community college. like. ‘help out the community/check out various job opportunities’ type stuff. at this point i kind of half-heartedly told people i wanted to be a pharmacist and that was my vague future plan, but for this they had us pick 3 options and one of the openings was for a person to help at a family-run retail greenhouse in town. got the internship. cool. 

i mostly did manual labor around the greenhouse, but i also got taken behind the scenes where they showed me like, how they get these plants from corporations. the dude who ran the greenhouse showed me the catalogs they got from these giant companies and showed me seeds in test tubes sent to them and all this stuff, and plants started to unfold for me as a science. like. these companies were doing jurassic-park type stuff with these plants. it occured to me that the plants that were being sold were literally created to look pretty for us, or to grow big fruits and vegetables, etc etc, and it was like...it kind of freaked me out. this was also a little after when USDA APHIS and several related international government plant regulation branches found out about a ton of GMO petunias that were being sold to the public without the proper testing and documentation by several large seed companies; they let the retailers keep them, but ordered the companies to literally incinerate, bury, or destroy any and all illegal seed and plant matter. 

this was very fucked up, so of course i was fascinated and i started seeing plants as a whole in a very different way. i’d come home every day and tell my parents about whatever crazy shit i learned, which they got tired of pretty quickly, but i wasn’t stopping there. i wanted more plant information. i built a big wooden tray thing and started growing random plants in my room, not really with any sort of scientific goal aside from watching them and wondering about... whatever. eventually, this kind of general hyperfixation made me generate the question of whether or not plants generated heat, which i googled and was not satisfied at the answers for: they can, and plants that can are called thermogenic plants, but none of the pop science articles i read could explain exactly how it worked, and like, i was in it to see all the details, baybee, and i ended up reading scientific journal articles with absolutely no idea of how scientific journal articles are set up, how to read them, or what any of it meant. and i loved it. 

so that was my first dive into that, and it was around that time that i started this blog to contain my ongoing passion to stop boring my parents, and then i just...well i did more stuff and worked some other plant jobs that i’ve talked about before on here, some which involve more wild stuff than others, but long story short, that was how i ended up accidentally stumbling into this interest/career path via the very specific question of how plants that heat up Do That Thing.

He's a fucking demon (not literally but wouldnt be surprised either). He's cruel, aggressive, and bitter. He reminds me of the 'it dont bite' vine but he immediately gets your ass. Ngl, he kinda reminds me of Slick. Letting out a very loud mental sigh :/ I have a type and it's coming back n biting me in the ass.

Both are crime men mafia boys, scarred, and missing an arm? They're pretty quiet for the most part n rather speak through actions; if they threaten to do something, they have no issues go through w/ it.

I can not get away from the grittiness that these terrible men bring.

Unlike my Current Hyperfix F/O, he's never nice, ever. No soft moments in canon or its REALLY discreet/youll have to squint and draw your own conclusions. He does mellow out in the future which is actually nice! I'm sure he's still resentful and brutal as hell but he's more willing to work with the Vongola and says that they're family so i just OTL mwah. this is growth.

His pre timeskip self techinally? has a 16 year old mentality bc the mf said mannequin challenge for 5+ years after being put in Ice Prison Timeout. And when he came back he said fuck my dad all my homies hate my dad. went to Japan. fought a 15 year old. Lost. and the rest is history. (theres more but its whack bc timeskip shit. its not complicated im just 🥴)
