Rema Namakula drops surprise Chike collaboration ‘LOCO’
Tumblr media
If there is a female who has been moving forward musically asides from Spice Diana, we have gotta give it to Rema Namakula. Most recently collaborating with Rwanda’s The Ben for smash hit ‘This Is Love’, she has 9am this morning released a follow up single to it by the title ‘Loco’. The track enlists Nigerian new boy on the block Chike, famed for his ‘If You Know Love’ and most recently ‘Running’ (which got a remix with Simi), all taken off his debut album “Boo Of The Booless” which did and is still doing quite well in the mainstream audiences.
Tumblr media
Chike (Picture: DNB Stories) Featured on ‘LOCO’ too is DJ Harold, who also delivers production credits to the song alongside Rema Namakula’s long time collaborative mate  Nessim, who has in the past worked on projects : ‘This Is Love’, ‘Gutujja’ among others. Rema describes the song as one that brings out the feeling of being loved right to the point of being crazy. The track was also outed specifically on this day as the singer’s gift to her fans, as it is her birthday today! https://twitter.com/REMAUG1/status/1385850449803284483?s=20 Once it picks form, the 3minute 42 second playtime audio, Loco will be a favorite to many. It should arrive on digital music streaming and downloading sites soon; for now, enjoy the audio on YouTube below: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RMfAOmtIwb8 Read the full article

Hello pals!
It’s been a funny old time these past few weeks, and I haven’t had the brain to post about c25k when more important things are going on. Nevertheless we kept at it, so here’s the RUNdown 😉! Beware, this one has 5 runs, so it’s another long one.
Week 4 Run 2
Friday. I finished work later than expected today, just lots of things to do. I really did not feel like going running because I was feeling rubbish, but it was the last day we could do run 2 and have a break before then next one so we got to it.
As with run 1 this week, run 2 was 3m run - 90s walk - 5m run - 2.5m walk - 3m run - 90s walk - 5m run. It was quite a bit more running than last week and I knew that this week’s sessions were quite a push so we tried to pace ourselves to make sure we had something left for the 5min portions.
We were okay on the 3min runs but we were really counting down the seconds on the 5m runs (literally). Because we paced ourselves a little better, our chests weren’t as painful, but my calves were still giving me grief. Pat struggled with his feet but we both kept plodding on, really slowing down on the last run. Finally we finished and actually felt very accomplished in doing this run again. Very tired though!
Pat had said I should take a break and go for a run towards the end of my normal work day to try and revitalise myself and get my head back into work but I wanted to continue, so we had set off quite late.
I should have listened because I felt refreshed after this run, it was hard, but the extra effort seemed to burn off some of the rubbish feeling I had and I really felt the endorphins rushing about. Pat now has decisive power over when we go for a run haha!
Week 4 Run 3
Sunday. I took Pat for drive to his parents and had a socially distanced drink. We thought it would be nice to go for a run down the canal close to their house for a change in scenery as Pat was getting a bit fed up with the 5 min runs.
The canal was a good place for our first 3m run as it’s pretty flat so we didn’t find it too hard to keep going. I had to tell Pat to pace himself as he really found a fast stride at one point! I got a few midges in my nose as we were running which wasn’t ideal!
Soon the path climbed as we went past a lock or two. We jogged past one and kept a wide berth as there was a mumma and dad pair of geese with their gosling who hissed and flapped their wings at us. I was certainly glad we’d been training to move faster than normal in that minute, although my calves were already protesting that!
At the end of our second run, we had an incline up to a bridge which my calves really hated but luckily we got a reprieve shortly after and we turned into one of the neighbouring fields to make our way back to Pat’s parents.
Pat was really in his element leading me round the fields he had grown up playing in and it really took my mind off of the run watching him playing. He took us over stiles and through a mini wood (which I hated - I got MORE flies in my nose, mouth and ears 🙈)
We were soon on our final run, and although my calves and chest were hurting, the change to the scenic route was really enjoyable.
This week has been a hard one, but the runs slowly have gotten slightly easier and more bareable as we kept at it. I suppose practice makes perfect, even with running. I never believed my P.E. teachers about this, and I still don’t want to believe it now! 🤯
Tumblr media
Week 5 Run 1
Tuesday Morning, breakfast and a cuppa demolished, and ready and raring to go. This week is 5mins x 3 with 3minute breaks in between, which is actually 1min less than the total run of last week. Just an extra 5min run, but we knew we could do that stint in one go because we had done it last week. Okay, let’s go!
We step out of the house and we are hit by a wave of heat. Okay...so this could be a little harder than expected. Probably should have had water instead of tea or coffee, but anyway, we go for it.
All 3 runs are sweaty and way harder than last week. With burning legs and chests, we tire easily and I struggle at about 3mins into each run. The 3minute breaks are way too short and we home in on any available shade. My belly is churning and I am basically shuffling along to the end. The final run, my legs are in agony before we even get half way. I am breathing very deeply to try and relieve the aching in my calves and quads* and in the final minutes I’m dizzy and can’t see very well, not just because of the sun in my eyes. We finish and I want to collapse on the floor, but I can see the shade up ahead and make a beeline for it. My legs don’t recover very quickly today at all. I now know I DO NOT LIKE RUNNING IN THE SUN!
As we finish our cool down walk, glad that it’s over, I look at the app to plan our next run and see that this week isn’t the same everyday as it has been for the last month. Nope, the next run is 8mins x 2, 5min break. Uh oh! After this run, I’m not sure I could do 8mins!! But...well, it’s only the same total time as last week, and has a 5m break, it might be hard, but doable?
I check the 3rd run of the week thinking it might be 2 9min walks or something and my heart stops. 20minute run, no breaks? That can’t be right! But it is...oh dear. I really don’t think that is possible. That’s a big jump! We’ve only run 5mins at once and this is FOUR TIMES that. And it’s an extra 4mins total time! How can they think we can do that so quickly??
I’m pleased we completed this run in the horrible heat, it really was a hard one to do. Unfortunately I also have a sense of foreboding that I haven’t had for the whole programme: we might not be able to complete the runs this week. But I then think about our first two weeks when we couldn’t even complete the first day of c25k and resolve to keep trying until we get there. We might have to repeat but we will do it eventually!
We’ve not come this far to only come this far!
Tumblr media
*Pat told me that’s what they’re called after the run
Week 5 Run 2
Pat made the executive decision to run on Friday, not Thursday, I think the 8min runs were putting him off a little...So despite my warnings of pain on Sunday (we were going for a bbq at our friends’ house who we hadn’t seen for a while on Saturday night, I was driving, and Pat would be drinking. A lot. 🍻🍻🍻) we skipped Thursday and ran on Friday Night.
I was scared of today’s run. 2x 8minute runs! I’d been whittling about it since the sunshine nearly killed us on Tuesday, so we went after work around 20:30. My new sports bra had arrived earlier that day, and it fitted(!!) so I strapped them in and we got going. (Best purchase I’ve made this year by the way - they didn’t move! No pain! Woohoo!)
The weather broke earlier in the week, so it was quite cold on the walk out before we started running and we were basically power walking to get warm! We geared up for the 8 minute run, and I started feeling the burn in my legs just as Sarah said we were half way through the first run, so I decided to slow down a little and made a mental note to drink more water and STRETCH properly before Sunday! After a minute or two the burn had lessened and when Sarah said to slow down for our 5 min walk, I felt like I could have kept going, which struck me as odd.
Pat recovered quickly and said that he was almost bored of walking! Ready to get the next run over with I’m sure, hopefully not my company! 😂 We thought it might be a good idea for him to have some music on the longer runs anyway to keep him going.
We started the second run and my shins and calves were instantly remembering the last run. I slowed down even further and soon the pain eased a little. Our final stretch is a bit of a hill (it isn’t but it feels like one when you’re tired!) and at the half way point I was ready for giving up, and then it started to spit! 🙈 Luckily it was a false alarm, but it distracted us a little. Those last few minutes really were a drag, my legs were burning and my breathing was heavier than usual trying to get up that last hill, but we kept on going and we did it! I did walk a little weird for a minute afterwards, stretching will be needed next time!
We ended the cool down walk and were happy with what we had done. We then remembered our mission in two days - 20minutes on Sunday... how were we going to do that????
Despite our worries, we still commended ourselves. We ran for 8 minutes in 60 second intervals the first week of c25k and we had ran the same amount of time all in one go, TWICE, today. What an improvement!!
Tumblr media
Week 5 Run 3
Sunday arrives. OH MY GOSH. THE DREADED RUN. 20 minutes...can we do it???
After a particularly rowdy night on Saturday, poor Patrick was hanging: McDonald’s was necessary, naps were mandatory and our tv viewing had to be drivel. At 6pm, I reminded him of his terrible decision on Thursday and we set about the slow rise from the sofa. I even “made” a salad to help along the process! Those of you who know us, know I’ve forgotten where the kitchen is, so this shows the level of Pat’s hangover.
We set off for our walk to a duet of encouragements from Sarah Millican and wails from Pat about his stomach. Soon the dreaded time came: our 5 minutes walking were up and we were to begin our TWENTY MINUTE run. We opted for a light jog as instructed, with the option to push a little if we felt we could and slow down if needed. We had decided that as we weren’t stopping and starting, we’d have no time to chat in between runs and listened to our favourite bands to cheer us on: Bowling for Soup for me, Tenacious D for Pat.
Pat always dislikes the first few mins of a run until his chest opens up and he feels he can breathe a little easier. Whereas I’m the opposite, the beginning feels easy and after a few minutes it gets harder. I didn’t feel too bad to start, I was a song and half in when Sarah told me we were a quarter of the way through the run! Earlier this week I was struggling with 5 minutes! How has this happened? I assumed I was going mad and continued....a few minutes later we started a very shallow incline so we slowed a touch to allow for it.
We kept checking in with each other and we were both pleasantly surprised to find we were both doing okay. Soon we were half way through our jog and feeling alright. Some calf burn for me, but after a while it seemed to go off as though my muscles had stopped protesting because they knew there was no point!
Soon we were down the “hill” and I found that my strides were opening up a little and was “running” a little faster than usual which felt great! We turned the corner to start our usual slightly steeper incline just as we were told we only had 5 minutes left to go! Where had the time gone?? We were doing well!
As we were running late-ish and it was cooler, we were sweating but doing okay because the breeze was keeping us at a good temperature. My new sports bra was doing it’s job and I was beaming because I never believed I could do anything like this! Pat was feeling the hangover a little as Sarah told us we had two more minutes left. My calves were really starting to burn, because of the hill I think now, not because of my fitness level (!!) and very quickly we were hi5ing at our mission completed!!
Yes, we were breathing heavy, our legs killing and sweat was running in our eyes but WE RAN FOR 20 MINS STRAIGHT!! Wooooohooo!!!
I didn’t believe her at the beginning of the run, but it’s just like Sarah M. said. We were fit enough, and this was a mental challenge more than a physical one, but I still couldn’t believe we did this!! Triumphant, we set off home for our warm down walk and a hot bath!

I remember when 1989 came out critics said most of the songs on the album aren't even 3minutes long and that's not a good sign
I mean it’s sonically cohesive lyrical trash. If you are into like production and melody and stuff more than lyrics and… sonic cohesion… then like I get why you stan. But I don’t see how you’re then a Taylor stan? As a Taylor stan it is EASILY her worst album. It has basically none of the hallmarks of a Taylor Swift album: the lyrics and images are stupid, they’re impersonal as fuck, and it’s mostly a series of refrains. Like HOW is this amongst your favorite Tay albums? What’s there to like??

Doyoung is a one of a kind dancer.
Not only does experts in YG and even JYP praised him, also the reactors in youtube who are dancers themselves notices him even if he is at the back.
However, it is still not a reason to not give him center position. Our main dancer is our main dancer. I hope that YG can start giving more to Doyoung as center in dance since we only got few lines from him.
I also know the narrative of “he slays in the least lines, least part or least screentime”.
But isn’t there something wrong with it? I don’t expect for him to have a minute part but Atleast give him lines that we can actually listen to his voice. Whenever we say this people get angry, but I am like, why are you getting angry at us who say this when you should be angry when he only got one word as a line or 3-5 seconds in an average 3minute long song?
Again, I am not asking for a lot but I am just asking for even just a little more than that.
Mnet should’ve included him actually in the idols with least lines coz that one word, that one word in MMM still... it hurts.
Others will say love them all of them and don’t complain. But some really complains with their bias lines being this short while Doyoung is left silenced by them in his one word line or 3-5 second line. Some will say trust the profucers or trust this and that but then later they will complain on other things.
I feel like when it’s Doyoung it’s okay for them. But I hope that we change that and we become hopeful he gets more lines. It’s an average of 3 minute song and it’s really unfair to have 3 seconds.
He got good lines in Beautiful which really is good, My Treeasure he got the killing part You’re the only one treasure which is great, we got slowmotion Orange etc.
I hope we get to 10-15seconds of lines next comeback 😭 If everyone gets 10 seconds that is a minute and 20, which if we have 15seconds each we get 2 minutes and 20 seconds... which other seconds can still be given to others. But what kind of song will that be if they think of the time right? Hahahaa there are only a few songs that have a fair share of parts.
Anyway, I just want to voice this out. I know others don’t like talking about it. Saying that everyone’s time will come but it’s not also bad if I say things when it already pains me.
I am sorry to say all these but I just have to say it.
Those in their right minds will hope for this too but some will just brush it off and send me hate reblogs saying I am asking for too much... I am not asking for a whole song, I am just asking for full lines.

PCA Skin and home routine
Tumblr media
PCASkin
First off, Happy New Year! Hope everyone had an amazing Holiday season!
So, here to review professionally used treatments by PCA Skin as used and recommended by esthetician, Mindy Kim. Grab your favorite cup of coffee or tea, and enjoy the read.
After my review on Ms. Kim’s practice and my experience with her. I decided to add more detail into the products she provided me, PCA Skin and how I’m currently maintaining my skin at home.
Since first meeting with Mindy, she has given me product recommendations, and I’ve taken it all in and added to my collection of skincare. She herself uses PCA Skin to really treat the skin in the utmost effective way.. although it may not be a Korean based company *which I’m more inclined to use these days as I’ve found them to work better with my skin. Even so PCA does wonders and gives great results. Not only professionally, but also in its domestic use.
Here I’ll start with my at my home care. As you already know, I use PURITO, but PCA plays a very large part in my daily routine, as it is a large sum of my cosmetic drawer currently.
So, to start this off...
PCA Skin BPO 5% Cleanser
This products ingredients really give your skin deep cleaning  *Much like the BB cleanser, but this (BPO 5% cleanser) is much stronger as it’s formulated to handle acne breakouts as well as preventing future ones.
It also has deep cleansing for pores and helps remove dead skin cells, soothe irritated and inflamed blemishes, allowing the skin to properly heal.
Main Ingredients
Benzoyl peroxide: penetrates pores to eliminate existing acne lesions and prevent future breakouts.
Phytic acid – a gentle exfoliating agent.
Gluconolactone – a calming, moisturizing ingredient that promotes a clear complexion.
(1) Squeezing out about a dime-sized amount on to hand, create a lather (2) Then while washing, massaging in gentle circular motions. (3) Followed by rinsing with lukewarm water, then pat drying with a clean hand towel.
I use this cleanser on a daily bases, it works wonders and is great with my pH balancer. And after a heavy workout, I like to wash my face with the BPO cleanser, followed by the pH balancer. *Safely killing two birds with one stone, whilst taking a cool shower.
The consistency is similar to most of my cleansers.. it is somewhere between gel and watery. But add some water and you’ve got a great way to make the surface of you skin sleek and safe to massage. Personally I massage for a good 2-3minutes. *Fun fact about me! I like to make playlists of my favorite songs to wash my face to and also use it as some what of a timer for myself.. Its a nice  wind down at the end of the day. And let me tell you, washing my face is seriously my favorite part of everyday.
On to the next part of the routine:
PCA Skin Hydration Serum
This serum contains a specialized blend of antioxidants and moisture-binding ingredients to help plump, soften and hydrate the skin. It also helps create moisture while relieving inflammation. Its really great for dry skin, but also beneficial to for all skin types.. and it’s really handy to have during the colder and dryer months of the year.
I’ve personally found this Hydration Serum really amazing with how exceptional it is. Containing Glycerin, Sodium hyaluronate, and Sodium PCA, this serum is really one to keep on hand. Being slightly more stable then water in consistence, once it’s absorbed, it leaves the skin feeling soft, hydrated and healthy. I’ve found it to really aid in moisture retaining, in both evenings and during the day.
Main Ingredients
Glycerin – an ingredient that holds moisture in the skin for hydration.
Sodium hyaluronate – holds 1,000 times its weight in water, playing an important role in skin hydration.
Sodium PCA –it is considered an important humectant, this is due to the fact that it is extremely water absorbent and can hold several times its weight in water, thus helping to reduce loss of moisture, through evaporation.
I use this in the correction step of my routine. Applying a little more then a pea-size amount evenly over the entire face and neck, patting the serum in for absorption.
Total Strength Serum
This serum is specifically made to help minimize fine lines, wrinkles and pores while firming, tightening and strengthening aging skin... it really is a product of its word. With Palmitoyl tripeptide-38, Epidermal growth factor (EGF), Silybum marianum extract and Sodium hyaluronate its a product that really packs a bit of a punch my friend.
Main Ingredients
Palmitoyl tripeptide-38 – stimulates collagen, and helps reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Epidermal growth factor (EGF) – improves the appearance of aging skin.
Silybum marianum extract – a potent antioxidant from milk thistle.
Sodium hyaluronate – a naturally occurring ingredient with exceptional moisturizing qualities; it has the ability to hold 1,000 times its weight in water and plays an important role in skin hydration.
I also use this as part of the correction part of the routine. *Again applying about a pea-sized amount to entire face and neck.
*The consistency is about the same as the hydration serum..
Next up is..
Hyaluronic Acid Boosting Serum
As it states, this smoothing blend of ingredients provides deep, long-lasting hydration on three levels: on the surface, deeper in the skin and by increasing the skin’s own hyaluronic acid production.
Personally speaking, I loved adding this to my daily. It really boosts hydration. With hyaluronic acid and sodium hyaluronate, hydrolyzed hyaluronic acid, HA-Pro Complex, ceramides, niacinamide this is definitely one to have in the skincare enthusiasts plethora of products. *sadly I'm in need of a new bottle, cause I'm all out.
Main Ingredients
Hyaluronic acid and sodium hyaluronate – attract and hold 1,000 times their weight in water on the surface of the skin for instant smoothing and hydration.
Hydrolyzed hyaluronic acid – penetrates deeper into the skin, attracting and holding moisture that’s already in the skin, and plumps fine lines from below the skin surface.
HA-Pro Complex™ – a proprietary blend that stimulates the production of the skin’s own hyaluronic acid and delivers 24-hour hydration. It leads to long-term hydration and anti-aging.
Ceramides – supports the renewal of the skin’s natural protective layer and forms an effective barrier against moisture loss.
Niacinamide – a potent, yet calming antioxidant that reduces moisture loss in the skin and improves barrier function. It also reduces redness and promotes an even skin tone.
On to the next product…
C&E Strength Max
Providing maximum strength 20% pure vitamin C and 5% pure vitamin E to aid in protecting skin from damage, strengthening and smoothing the skin, whilst also helping to fight against signs of aging.
Main Ingredients
Vitamin C – an antioxidant that minimizes the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles while promoting an even skin tone.
Pure vitamin E – a powerful antioxidant.
Vitamin A – promotes an even skin tone while minimizing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
(1) Applying a pea-sized amount to the face and neck. (2) If applying in the morning be sure to use the appropriate SPF and moisturizer in the evenings.
This C&E is one of my favorites *next to COSRX Triple C Lightening Liquid.. packed with vitamin C, pure vitamin E, as well as vitamin A, this is one of the good gal pals for the skin. Using this in my daily, I’ve really seen a difference in my fine lines around my eyes and some pigmentation caused by old acne scars.
Intensive Clarity Treatment: 0.5% pure retinol night
This intensive retinol treatment is probably one of the most amazing things ever. I’ve been using it every other night as suggested by the wonderful and beautiful Mindy Kim, and its great for those of us prone to acne breakouts for a dramatically clearer complexion.
Main Ingredients
Retinol (vitamin A) – vitamin A helps promote a clear complexion and an even skin tone.
Salicylic Acid (2%) – clears existing acne blemishes and prevents future breakouts.
Lilac leaf cell culture extract – a potent antioxidant.
Bakuchiol –an effective complement to retinol for fighting breakouts.
(1) Applying a pea-sized amount in the evening only, and just gently patting that into the skin.
Regardless of wether you’re using this during the day or not, retinol is sun sensitive, so be sure to use broad spectrum SPF during the day.
Containing retinol (vitamin A), salicylic acid (2%), lilac leaf cell culture extract and bakuchiol.. the ingredients in this treatment are there to diminish acne blemishes, preventing breakouts, promoting clearer and a more even skin complexion. Honestly another product to add to the drawer or shelf.
Sheer Tint Broad Spectrum SPF 45
This light, silky broad spectrum sunscreen is formulated with a universal tint, to match most skin tones. It adds a really beautiful glow to the skin.
I personally really love this sunscreen. Even though its only a tint, it provides a nice amount of coverage to the skin and any slight discoloration your skin may have. I love having this in my routine.
Main Ingredients
Titanium dioxide – provides broad spectrum UV protection by reflecting, scattering and absorbing UV rays.
Zinc oxide – provides broad spectrum UV protection by reflecting, scattering and absorbing UV rays.
Ubiquinone (CoEnzyme Q10) – a potent antioxidant that fights free-radical damage.
(1) After finishing up your routine, smooth onto the skin, allowing it to absorb for 15 mintues before sun exposure. (2) And if you’re not wearing makeup feel free to reapply every so often.
BODY CARE
Okay, so, this next product is amazing….
Blemish Control Bar
This bar saved my acne ridden chest, shoulders and upper back *all areas my hair touches often. Upon a visit to Mindy’ she noticed my shoulders and chest had some unwanted friends… after taking a little look she pointed me to this beauty and I’m hooked. I use it regularly especially during my quick showers after a workout.
(1)Moisten the enclosed sponge and create a foaming lather. (2)Cleanse affected area, leaving on for about 2 minutes. (3)Rinse with warm water and pat dry.
Salicylic acid – clears existing blemishes and prevents future acne breakouts.
Azelaic acid – promotes a clear complexion and an even skin tone.
Eucalyptus leaf oil – purifies the skin, helping to remove impurities for a clear complexion.
This has salicylic acid, azelaic acid and eucalyptus leaf oil, all of which are great in the treatment of acne. Clearing existing blemishes as well as the prevention of future breakouts.. penetrating deep to purify and cleanse oily clogged pores,  while also helping promote a clearer and much more even skin tone.
FINAL THOUGHTS
All of these products I've used have played a major role in the final process of clearing up my scars and helping to keep my acne at bay. I have so many things to be grateful for, but I’ll name two things, (1) The help I received from Mindy over the last couple months. (2) And all the amazing products that have assisted in the up keep of my skin.
So, I‘ll give you a quick idea of the scent of these. Most, if not all have really decent smells to them. I’d say the only one that, at least to me, is a little strange, but not horrible... that’s the Intensive Clarity Treatment: 0.5% pure retinol.. its not a really bad scent, but it does take some getting used to my friend. *My friend said it smelt sort of like hair chemical, and I have to kind of agree with her on that.
NOTES:
You really should be aware of the pricing of this brand, as it’s not cheap. In fact it is quite the investment. With product ranging from as low as $28 to $158… now its not bad at all, if investing in your skins health is a priority for you. Which it has become for me. It’s not crazy prices, considering these products all work great.
All in all, PCA is great if you want to really treat and maintain your hard work and efforts. I love PCA Skin, and Mindy for introducing me to the brand. Highly and happily recommend this product to everyone honestly.
*If you’re interested in visiting a PCA certified professional in your area, visit the official PCA skin website and type in your zip and find one near you.
Also if you're in the Miami area, I'll leave the link to Mindy’s site here if you're interested.. if so, let her know I sent you~
And that about wraps up this little review and routine here
Much love to you all and huge hugs.. Love yourself always

Too much choice
Middle of the week and the choices for my evening were plentiful.
I elected to catch a film, not leat because I’m determined to make the most of my Cineworld card, but also because there are sooo many films on that I want to catch at the moment.
So many in fact, that it’s hard to choose. 1917, Little Women. The Gentlemen, JoJo Rabbit, Seberg and the final Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker…. The more observant amongst you will have noticed that I’ve seen 3 of these already. Trouble is, I wouldn’t mind seeing both 1917 or The Gentlemen again, because they’re both worthy of a second showing. So I genuinely have too much choice.
I’ve spent the morning pulling together a presentation on the services that we delivered in the back end of last year ready for a show and tell session this afternoon. All went well, but as usual I feel like there’s always more that could go in. Never enough time.
Interesting thought that…. Never enough time….
But time for what? What are the things you should really be spending your time on? If we’re really lucky we might have 47.3million minutes available. 15.7m of which we’ll probably spend asleep. A mere 6.7m minutes will be your working life if you’re full time employed until you retire at 70…. so what are going to do with that 24.9m that’s left?
You’re going to cram the rest of you life experience into it… every 120minutes is a movie, or 90mins of football or maybe 900minutes for your average good book…. 3minutes for a song, a 4 hour leisurely long lunch will eat another 240minutes, a weeks holiday every year from 18 until you’re 80 will waste another 625,000….. You’re going to spend 328,000 minutes in the toilet….
It all adds up.
Honestly, I can find something to do for every minute of every day I’ve got left…. and seriously, if I’m lucky, that might be 20million minutes, 6.9m of which are for sleep and 2.4m for work….
Andy Dufresne got it right when he said “Get busy living or get busy dying”. And what an incredible film that is. If only that was showing, my decision would have been easily made….
Tumblr media
Actually…
What am I thinking? Of course! We’re living in 2020!! Streaming media is a real thing for any half decent WiFi connection. So the decision really is that easy. A pint and a bite to eat in the bar and The Shawshank Redemption because it really is that good!
There’s something about Red’s voiceover that makes his view of the story compelling. You want to hear what’s going to happen next. You can’t miss it. Tim Robbins really plays it cool throughout, which makes the 3rd act all the more unmissable. The book – a short story – was fantastic, but the film takes the story to another level.
If this film isn’t in your top ten, then you obviously haven’t seen it.
Have hope.

TASK 1
The first advert I will be looking into is the Coco Chanel Mademoiselle Film. The advert runs for approximately 3minutes and 21seconds directed by Joe Wight and released in 2011. The script entails a young woman participating in a sexy photoshoot before leaving her suitor dazed and in awe from a sneaky escape.
To start, one of the techniques used in the advert is the strong sense of product branding through visual imagery. The Coco Chanel advert explicitly uses Sepia tones all throughout the film, these subtle warm colours have connotations with a romanticised scene, and a relaxed mood. Chanel relishes in the idea of an irresistible perfume that creates an irresistible woman. This being the main concept of their branding we can see this when Kiera comes to a stop at the red light and is surrounded by men dressed in black. The juxtaposition to her cream coloured clothing persuades the audience that she is untouchable, because she wears the perfume, and therefor she is in control. This is more than ever convincing when she leaves them in the dust as the light turns green, proving that she has first pick. This idea again is construed through the scenery, and backdrop of the advert, filmed in France – the city of love – the passionate setting for any perfume advert. (More specifically the Fashion Street in Paris, which presents a clear opinion of the director and that their product is a high-fashion brand.) This automatically sets the mood for the film, and engages the female viewer as it plays to their romantic ideals and desires. Moreover throughout the Advert, long smooth shots are used, this also identifies the intense and teasing nature of the advert, which not only makes the film more breath-taking but also foreshadows the latter.
Taking a further look into the ideology of using romance to capture an audience, we can note that this advert uses high amounts of sex appeal to do so, and is done in a matter of ways. Woman have used perfumes for generations for their distinctive scent, and appealing quality. However it can be seen as a new-age ideal that perfume is used to attract the opposite sex for well, exactly that. Perfume adverts toy with this idea by using a high-profile model that not only are desired by men, but are coveted by woman. In this particular advert, we can assume that the producers have targeted the product at the younger generation by using Kiera Knightly, known for her part in Pirates of the Caribbean and other, new-age films for which she stars in. Quite strategically using a public figure so admired by those mentioned, this technique is called Celebrity Endorsement.
Moreover, there are many areas to the Advert that convey a strong theme of sex appeal. To start the clothing is nothing but a ploy to illustrate the attractiveness of the model. As mentioned before, the tight-fitting nude coloured clothing highlights every aspect of her figure, portraying the idealistic body of any woman, in no shame objectifying Knightly in explicit detail. The director’s choice of colour seems clear to highlight the similarity of skin and flesh, therefor arousing the sense of feminine and sexiness of the actress. Having her ride a motorbike in the most seemingly poised manner again is striking and enticing for both men and woman who either want to be with her, or want to be her. An example of how the filming is used to do so is when Knightly is mounting the motorcycle, and the camera is positioned pointing up at her waist, highlighting her feminine figure. The film also uses a range of long shots, and profiling shots to illuminate and frame the actress’s face, making sure that the audience is aware of her beauty and charm, this also creates tension in the scene as her every expression is captured in great detail, making the viewer want that same affection, and mystery. A good example of this is when Knightly has fled from the bedroom and is looking up at her suitor, her eyes convey both longing and a flirtatious distance. Proving that with this perfume, she is at her own will.
Once again, Chanel embellishes the perfect world, where many, suits and cars are at hand, and somehow their perfume will get you there. After Knightly pitches up outside the suitor’s house, the mood again changes to be even more so ‘romantic’. Kiera stages as a model having her photo taken on a bed, posing dramatically and sharing longing looks with her photographer, before he is told to excuse his staff. Having the photoshoot taken in the bed again has connotations with lust and desires, that the produces want their audience to crave, as their perfume is supposedly going to be the item that can give you that happy ending. That’s not to say that the audience is hoping for that ‘Happy Ending’ on screen, however the concept is enough to taunt and tease the viewers into ‘needing’ that perfume.
Another technique to consider is the primal use of music throughout the video. The director uses clear intentional contradiction in his choosing of the song. Having the song ‘It’s a man’s world’ performed by a woman signifies the irony in the fact that it really isn’t. The whole scripted film suggests that a woman can be in control, that a woman can taunt a man, and leave him breathless and in awe, and it is all down to how she starts her day. However the song specifies that the world is owned by man and man alone, so the audience is left conflicted and thought-provoked. Chanel strives to prove that woman are just as much the object of attention and affection, you just need the right perfume.
Continuing into looking into the different techniques that are used in Advertisements, I will be analysing the 2014 Netflix Airport Advert. This advert couldn’t be more dissimilar to Chanel’s sexy screenplay. This sequence uses comical report and play-on humour to engage its audience and stand for a well-produced promotional video.
The video plays out with a middle-aged man arriving at the airport looking flustered and in a hurry, with contrasting shots of a woman on her way to catch her flight. Already the audience can piece together the romantic cliché scene about to take place, as shown in so many films, for instance ‘Friends with benefits’ or ‘Sleepless in Seattle’, although from this point it is still unclear as to the point of the video.
The first difference to make note of is the colour scheme, with Mademoiselle, the director fondly uses soft beige and brown tones, however with this advert the colours are realistic and down to earth. This brings to life the realistic nature of the advert which I personally found very entertaining and amusing. Another way the director has intentionally downplayed the melodrama of this advert is the actors. Unlike Coco Chanel’s typical casting criteria, Netflix has opted for the ‘everyday man’ an actor who has let himself go – respectively, has an unkempt beard and rocks jeans and sneakers. The woman also dressed in a low-fashion attire, checked shirt and scarf, conveying the assumed ‘everyday woman’. Which is not to say that the actor and actress are purposely unattractive however it is made clear that this particular advert is not promoting a product of superficial desire.
Another difference is the techniques used, where Chanel focus on sex appeal, Netflix focusses on bringing humour into tense situations, playing with the audience’s expectancies. This is shown when the man finally reaches the woman in a gust of romantic whim, and just where the viewers would think a declaration of love or some earth-shattering realisation, the man asks for the Netflix password. This style of production is very entertaining for viewers because it gives the audience a sense of comical relief. Especially when we as a millennial are so involved with the importance of Netflix, and other ‘film fanatics’. Moreover the comedy continues when the woman painfully answers “I love Stephan” –lower case, no spaces. The reason perhaps as to why viewers would find this type of humour funny is because we tend to laugh at other misfortunes, along with the reality check of just how important Netflix is.
The variation of shots used in this piece range from quick cuts, to long drawn following shots that build tension, this is noticeable when the ‘hero’ has made it into the airport and is looking for his partner, exclaiming “Elizabeth!” Once again toying with the cliché romantic end scenes of so many loved films. Notice that also many of the shots are taken from below, looking up at the personal. This is another way the director has intentionally ‘downplayed’ the suspense, by empowering ‘Stephan’ as he makes his heroic journey through security.
The music used in this is also essential when leading the audience into a false sense of romance. The song is an intense dramatic instrumental which builds perfectly to the point of interaction. Although the name and artist of the song is unlisted, the melody proves to be a seamless addition to the advert.
All in all I really enjoyed both adverts, although the Netflix ad, is more my speed, I do appreciate the art of Coco Chanel productions, and their creativity and flawless piece speaks for itself.

Video
Feb.9th △ The first milestone of the artwork (3minutes film)in this term.▽
Today is the first five-minute prestation of this semester, which is a summary of this period of time for ourself. So far I've finished all the shots of the little girl in the movie returning from the river to the house. (This includes a large panorama of the variety house in the first motion, the little girl ready to go back by the river, through the grove, ready to run back from the woods house) In this process, I also experienced some ups and downs that I found the first two paragraphs of the video size is wrong when I export these three videos as my little oversight, So I need to re-adjust the size of the pictures in the video, This wasted some unnecessary time, but also be regarded as some of the experience in the process.
The above is my three together in the results, I use AE to export three videos respectively, And then use PR to contected three video together.  I have not added voice, because I have not decided to go with what kind of music. Recently in the creation of the process I have put some background sound, I can side of the painting while listening to music, but also the way to give myself some inspiration.( In fact, not only songs, in the painting process, I also like to listen to fiction, such as Stone story ,China's well-known classical novels and some historical stories。)My current step is to color the side while continuing to draw lines. Today I put the first connected video communicate  with Mario. He gave me some good feedback. Mario believes that the first paragraph of the video, that is, in the panoramic view of the house to move the lens. This part takes too long, up to 24 seconds, you can shorten it, in fact, when the synthesis of the film I think a little long, but I fear the audience can not better understand how I transfer the idea of the next lens. So I spent a long time in this one, I talk my idea with Mario talked about, he said do not worry, it seems very clear now, you can in the first panoramic camera, the house next to the grove In the vague little girls vague shadow, My idea is to add the background sound of the first paragraph of the girl in the river to catch the sound of the fish, because I want to transfer the next shot is the girl behind the house in a small forest in the stream to catch fish, Mario said that a good idea can be adopted, so happy I decided to take our ideas and proposals Mario together.
For my next job is to modify the part that has been about to complete, and then followed by drawing lines, Now my lines have been drawn to the girl in the kitchen and grandmother to drink tea with the scene, this scene is probably in 50 seconds in my animatic. My goal is to finish all the lines in my movie this month. The task in next month is coloring. I try to speed up the preparatory work time, so in the latter part of the work I can have enough time to complete the voice and special effects,I like to work at every stage of their own set a goal, and then strive to complete in accordance with this direction, the goal may be a bit high, can not be easily completed, But it does not matter, as an old Chinese saying goes,  ‘Where there is a will, there is a way’, Haha I often say to myself, Come on! I can! Haha! Now may be a little tired, sleep four or five hours a day, but I believe that Everything comes to him who waits. (another Chinese old saying), Oh now it's too tired, I need to sleep an hour nap so I can improve the efficiency of the next.
