OH, I realised I forgot to respond to the last part of your ask before, so... Ranfarid OTP! If you do have any thoughts about them to share I'm listening.
And also I was thinking about Winds of Wolfsong chapter 2 again and while at first I was floored by the shock of Kazai's arrival on the scene, now I've calmed down about it a bit I'm also a little worried about Areyan? Hopefully he didn't get too much water in his lungs and will recover okay, I worry there might be some ill effects (and I know that would make Isfan and Shapur feel even worse about what happened and will totally not help matters with Kazai either).
Ranfarīd! Such a lovely ship name! So much so that I'm now questioning my decision to rename Ranna, lol 😭
As for the feels... here's the gist/base of it:
Ranna saying something along the lines of “I've never once thought it was a good thing to be born. I mean, look around us. The world is a shit pit on fire and everyone's convinced it's just fine.” to Alfarīd one time and then much later, in a different context perhaps, Alfarīd calls back to it with a “One day I'll make you say ‘I'm glad I was born’, just you wait!”
Also something like: “I'm not Sherine. Sherine is dead. Sherine was unwanted. Sherine was hated. Sherine was abandoned. Nobody came looking for Sherine. But Ashaya has big sis and Areyan and everyone.” “And Ashaya has me.” (Ashaya being a name I'm contemplating making Ranna's permanent name in the fic!)
As for some less shippy Ranna things:
“Who am I, you ask?” the wily miscreant says with a mocking lilt. They push their hair back, and suddenly realization hits Hilmes like a sack of rocks.
They look exactly like—
“Well, it should be obvious with a glance, don't you think?”
:D
And as for poor Areyan at the end of chapter 2... boy will feel the effects of this incident for Quite A Bit™.
BUT. Not to spoil chapter 3 but. Grandmama Eihon makes an entry and so while he'll suffer a bit, it's nowhere near the level he would go through without Eihon, nor his life be in as dire of a danger.
Isfan will also start learning to heal.
Areyan here will be always frailer than canon Arslan though, their circumstances are just too different— he'll have bouts of being down bad, but he'll always have his family by his side.
As for the drama between Shapur and Kazai though... stay tuned!

20 questions for fic writers
tagged by @captain-hen @anxieteandbiscuits @lemonzestywrites @forthewolves @king-buckley @hippolotamus @watchyourbuck @shitouttabuck @lover-of-mine @thewolvesof1998 @heartshapedvows @jesuisici33 @hoodie-buck @wikiangela @monsterrae1 @exhuastedpigeon
thank you all! sorry it took me so long to do this <3
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
13
2. What's your total AO3 word count?
582,638
3. What fandoms do you write for?
only 911 at first but now i have a fringe fic and a wolfsong fic in the works
4. What are your top five fics by kudos?
there's always been a rainbow hangin' over your head (eddie comes out to buck and to be supportive buck buys eddie a very gay mug)
today i live for a single drop of you (5 times buck dreams about sucking eddie's cock and 1 time he actually gets to do it)
when the violence causes silence (set after 6x10, eddie dealing with the aftermath of the lightning strike and working out how to confess his feelings)
we live and breathe words (buck finds eddie's poetry and realizes eddie is in love with him and decides to do something about it)
slowly getting sober from the taste of your skin (pwp, threesome between buck, eddie, and evil doctor buck)
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
i do! at least, i do my best, i know sometimes i get the notification and look away and completely forget asdfghjkll, but i love responding and weeping about my gratitude
6. What is a fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
ummm all of my fics have happy endings sooooo i don't have an answer for this
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
ummm maybe red life might stream again because eddie and buck went through a lot of shit in that fic so i made it my mission to give them the happiest and sappiest ending possible
8. Do you get hate on fics?
i have been very lucky in that i haven't
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
oh yes i do. and i suppose it's very emotional and sappy smut. i do try to balance filthy and sweet
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
never written one
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
not to me knowledge
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
nope
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
me and @elvensorceress started writing a s2 rewrite where shannon lives that i absolutely adore, it's taken a bit of a backburner but it lives forever in my heart. also me and @spaceprincessem plan on writing one that im sure will be so very self-indulgent
14. What's your all time favorite ship?
gotta be buddie (though polivia from fringe is a close second)
15. What's a wip you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
im not sure. i plan on getting all of my wips done at some point and i don't really think there is one that i won't (at least not at this point)
16. What are your writing strengths?
descriptions i think. i can paint a pretty picture and definitely have flowery purple prose. and a lot of people have told me i am good at characterization which i always worry about but am glad to hear that's it's something im good at even if i doubt it
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
i cannot shut up. everything i write is so lengthy even when it doesn't need to be. being succinct definitely isn't my strong suit. and uhh i struggle with writing dialogue because i will get lost in the character's headspace and forget people are supposed to be talking
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
i absolutely love it though i don't do it often because i get nervous about it. thankfully i have friends that i can ask if i am unsure about something and im trying to get more comfortable doing it
19. First fandom you wrote for?
supernatural
20. Favourite fic you've written?
gotta be to you i'm just a man (to me you're all i am) because i put my heart and soul into that fic and i really loved delving into the 118's dynamic and everyone's relationship with buck and creating new circumstances for eddie and buck to fall in love
no pressure tagging (and sorry if you've already been tagged) @elvensorceress @spaceprincessem @bvckandeddie @colonoscopys @housewifebuck @prettyboybuckley @rogerzsteven @paranoidbean @911onabc @honestlydarkprincess @bigfootsmom @try-set-me-on-fire @bucks118 @devirnis @giddyupbuck @disasterbuckdiaz @transboybuckley @rewritetheending @eddiediaztho @callaplums

Almost Six Books Sunday
Hi, i’m around, just perpetually exhausted and still dealing with everything I previously shared. Which means I have not had the mental capacity to write! At all! Not even a little! But I have been reading because *escapism*
So I’m here to share five books I have recently enjoyed. They’re all m/m, most are a mind-the-trigger-warnings situation, and they have all kept me sane during times of e x t r e m e stress.
A Strange and Stubborn Endurance by Foz Meadows.
Byzantine politics, lush sexual energy, and a queer love story that is by turns sweet and sultry, Foz Meadows' A Strange and Stubborn Endurance is an exploration of gender, identity, and self-worth. It is a book that will live in your heart long after you turn the last page.
And boy if that ain’t the truth. I LOVED Vel and Cae so much and world felt full and rich (even if the main political mystery element was kind of unnecessarily convoluted). Definitely mind the TW, but I enjoyed this book greatly and thought Vel’s growth in particular was well done.
To say I look forward to the second book is an understatement.
A Taste of Gold and Iron by Alexandra Rowland
To prove his loyalty to the queen, his sister, Kadou takes responsibility for the investigation of a break-in at one of their guilds, with the help of his newly appointed bodyguard, the coldly handsome Evemer, who seems to tolerate him at best. In Arasht, where princes can touch-taste precious metals with their fingers and myth runs side by side with history, counterfeiting is heresy, and the conspiracy they discover could cripple the kingdom’s financial standing and bring about its ruin.
This book is delish. Yum yum yummy slow burn. Very character driven where (once again) the political mystery plot sort of takes a back seat to the more interesting relation developing. Kadou and Evemer have that sort of interdependency that I am weak for. WEAK I tell you.
Also the author wrote a fic for her own book and I love that for all of us.
Lord of Silver Ashes (Rowan Blood Book 2) by Kellen Graves
After two weeks in the attic of Danann House, Saffron anticipates the moment he can finally be reunited with Prince Cylvan--but that day is unexpectedly marred by a visit from Headmistress Elluin, who doesn't believe Saffron was the one to perform magic in Beantighe Village in the attempt to save Berry. Saffron will be expected to prove it; if he can't, every other human he loves will be arrested and executed for arid practice and conspiracy.
This book series is the type of thing that I could binge read forever. Is it ultra original? No. Are there TW galore? Definitely. Does our plucky mc have plot armor? The thickest. He should be dead like 10 times over, but is instead in a constant state of what must be agonizing pain from gruesome injuries he somehow just grits his teeth through.
And I love every fucking moment of this series. Saffron is BABY and his dumb high elf lover is ALSO BABY. I cannot wait for book 3.
Prince and Pawn (Perilous Courts Book 3) by Tavia Lark
Prince and Pawn is a high fantasy gay romance with hurt/comfort, forbidden pining, inappropriate use of vines, and more magic tigers. The Perilous Courts series is best read in order, but each book follows a different prince and his Happily Ever After.
I have read 4.5 of the planned 6 books in this series and I keep thinking “surely there’s no possible way I’ll enjoy this couple as much as the last.” And then I DO. EVERY. TIME. But Audric and Corin get special mention because their particular trope is one I’m extra weak to.
This series is really about the characters with the barest thread of a plot, but oh how yummy those characters are. I freaking churned through a book a day and then ended up on the author’s Patreon because I couldn’t get enough. BOOK 5 SOON!!!!!
Wolfsong (Green Creek Book 1) by TJ Klune
Wolfsong is the beginning of the Green Creek Series, the beloved fantasy romance sensation by New York Times bestselling author TJ Klune, about love, loyalty, betrayal, and family.
I will murder for this pack!!! Ox and Joe are just so very!!!!!!!! WEEPS!
Now does it take some wrapping your head around the whole “they were 10 and 16 and destined to be together”? Yes, yes it does, but I think this series does a good job of showing that love is not necessarily sexual—as good a job as it does showing family is not necessarily blood.
(I’m almost done with book 2, and Mark might be the ultimate babe.)
If you managed to make it this far, thanks for that. I’ll come up for air again soon.

Get to know me tag game
Relationship status: Aroace, very single and happy about it, lately very grumpy about amatonormativity
Favourite colour: red, especially deep reds, or any type of red paired with black
Favourite food: POTATOES (boil em, mash em, stick em in a stew)
Song stuck in your head: Whatever that new Meghan Trainor song is that’s all over TikTok, which is very annoying cause I have beef with Meghan Trainor
Last thing you googled: Webtoon. I wanted to read my Sundays updates but I’m cozy in bed and didn’t want to get my phone
Favourite time of day: Night. I’m a night owl. Miss my witching hour now that I work and have to go to bed at a decent time
Dream trip: I really want to travel and see more Canada because there is so many gorgeous spots I haven’t see yet, but I going out West next week so going to try to see what I can in a short time.
Last book/fic you read: The webcomic The Reaper and the Waiting. A great binge read and so beautiful and heartbreaking. I’ve been trying to get back into reading more since starting my new job.
Last book you enjoyed: Last book I absolutely loved would have to be The Summer Children by @dothutchison I am obsessed with this series. It’s so refreshing to read thrillers that actually take a nuanced and honest look at the justice system and focus on the victims over the perpetrators. I have one book left in this series and I’ll be so sad when I finish it.
Last book you hated: The last book I can remember passionately hating was Wolfsong and I’ve loved all of TJ Klune’s other stuff. I won’t get into it here but hey if anyone wants to hear me rant come hit me up in my dms.
Favourite thing to cook/bake: Hmmm, I bake a lot but I’m trying to think if there’s one thing I like baking more than others. Maybe chocolate chip cookies?
Favourite craft to do in your free time: If you name an art medium there’s a good chance I’ve tried it. Working on my bullet journal, which is all Disney themed, and painting have been the one’s I’ve been spending the most time on. I actually have a gallery show coming up that I’m super behind on.
Most niche dislikes: pineapple? (I don’t know if that’s niche), I got a lot of beef with really specific romance tropes that I’m probably a little too passionate about sometimes
Opinion on circuses: I mean historically they treated the animals quite poorly and were pretty ableist but if we are talking modern circuses I think the performances are so cool and I would love to be able to do half the stuff they do. I’ve always wanted to try aerial silks. (Hence Sirius’s job in Snapshots of Parenthood)
Do you have a sense of direction and if not what’s the worst way you’ve gotten lost?: My sense of direction is weird in that I need a GPS to get there but then I can get home fine, which might just be because I have a good memory. I’m much better now that I drive more often but when I first starting driving my friends and I went to see Rocky Horror and I told her I didn’t help navigating getting home and it took us two hours longer then it should of because I kept getting lost.
Anyone who wants to feel free to join in!

Somethings you might like based solely on the fact that you found this Tumblr aka if you liked house in the cerulean sea you might also like:
Good omens-book and tv show
Howls moving castle- the movie the book and it's sequels
Under the whispering door (which i read and liked, it has a found family trope, queer love story and happy end, exactly what your soul is used to after reading hitcs)
The other books of tj klune although i didn't read any of those yet I've heard they all have found family tropes especially wolfsong and takes of verania I've heard should be good
Once and future (book) found family, queer love(lots of that), happy end and fantasy
The Martian, (the book!) because it was my favorite book before i read house in the cerulean sea and it's funny and good for the soul
BBC ghosts, (tv show) that one might be a bit of a stretch but it has a found family thing going on and i really like it and you can trust me because i have great taste and because i said so
Falling Inn love - (movie) not a queer love story, but it does have a kind of found family trope (the whole city) and it has a character learn to accept help and it reminded me of cerulean sea
There once was this German childrens show, that looking back (even tho i don't remember much of it) that fits this category rather well and a quick google search told me it's called "tracy beaker returns" and you might like it
The magnus chase series (books) - by rick Riordan
Instant family (movie) - based on a true story very wholesome, very difficult topic very much a movie you'd watch with your parents
Now i think i covered every fun aspect of the book except the queer love story between two middle aged men, which is truly rare the only thing i can think of that comes close would be red white and royal blue and the people there are under 30 soo hit me up if you have any recs
Extraordinary magic by ben rector (song) thank the writer apollo_the_sun_god of the fic named after the song (honestly i love you for the writing and for showing me that song!)
Speaking of fanfiction: "you send me, honest you do" by MadHatter13 who could just be tj klunes ao3 account because if you'd print this out and put it in the back of the book right behind "epilog" i wouldn't question it, it's just that well written
Also I've read plenty of cerulean sea ff and basically all of it was great sooo
Anyway feel free to add, in fact if you have anything that might make me feel even remotely like this book did please tell me all about it

Tagged by @pidgeonpostal! And not tagging anyone else because I have SOILED the original template (soiled it!!) in deference to my [brushes off skirt] mostly clean public-facing appearance.
...I’ve been making a lot of Spongebob memes lately for someone who has not seen Spongebob.
How many works do you have on AO3?
71!
What’s your total AO3 wordcount?
...306,834. Jesus.
How many fandoms have you written for and what are they?
Uh. Many! I do a lot of one-offs (and/or start long things I never finish) in many different places. My top three fandoms by fics written are RWBY (29), Undertale (25), Gravity Falls/Transcendence AU (4).
Bet you can’t tell where my hyperfixations have fallen.
I’ve also got some Pokémon and Sonic the Hedgehog fics back on my ff.net account, or I think I still do, anyway, but let’s never go back there pls
What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
1. Sweeter Than Honey (Undertale): Taking a Completely unsurprising first place, with over 600 more kudos than the runner-up, the haphazard Underswap fic featuring a post-college self-insert I wrote just after high school! I shake my head some at how overblown and ridiculous the gap between this and all my other stuff is (c’mon, guys, I’ve written way better fics), but this is also the fic which prompted me (and at least one other person!) to start using they/them pronouns. I’ve gotten a lot of really sweet comments about how seen and appreciated it’s made people feel, so I can’t get down too far about it.
2. To Be A Hero (BNHA): I don’t count myself as part of the BNHA fandom, for a number of reasons, but for something that’s arguably the main motivation for the entire plot, Midoriya’s quirklessness is something I’ve never thought has been handled well. This fic marked the first time I (somewhat tentatively) claimed the disability label (thanks again to Sweeter Than for prompting that realization) to hold that lens over canon. It also really shot up my chart, dang! It’s the only thing here I’d consider “recent.”
3. Three-Sentence Shipping (Undertale): Self-explanatory.
4. Brothers Beyond Bonedaries (Undertale): Ah, the way-overcomplicated AU³ I got nowhere close to finishing. One of the things I really like about Undertale is the interface screw, how Toby Fox uses the medium of the video game to pull off crazy things and enhance his game, but most of the fic written for the fandom seems dedicated to explaining it away, grounding it, rather than taking it to the next step and messing with the medium of fanfiction when you keep the story going. I tried to do something cool like that here, playing with questions like narrator and authorship and breaking the fourth wall, even taking the “final boss” fight to a “totally separate” fic reached through the first by link – but, well, then I never finished it, which probably didn’t make anything less confusing for the poor folks who missed the intent.
5. Spirit and Such (Gravity Falls: Transcendence AU): A whole fic written to line out a particular image I had, which, naturally, never made it to the page. I consider it a bit of a cautionary tale for myself when it comes to writing (near-)original content; there’s a lot I look back on and cringe. I still love the characters, though – well, the important ones – and I think just stepping away from the tried-and-true Mizar formula nets it a star sticker here.
Do you respond to comments, why or why not?
>w>; I try, but a lot of the time I just don’t have anything to say? Like, oh, you liked it? Neat. There’s not much to respond to in comments like that, and then I’m weighing falling down on an ~obligation~ to respond to every message in my inbox vs annoying people with copy-paste fluff responses all down the page. Plus I know I make more of an effort to comment on things that didn’t get the attention I feel they deserve, so if I’m driving up my own comment count with nonsense, am I preventing myself from being in a position to receive more comments later? And then if I do comment, am I being too effusive or running people’s ears off explaining things they don’t actually need to know? Sometimes people just want to express interest or admiration and don’t necessarily want a whole peek and guided tour behind the curtain.
Can you tell I have anxiety? x3;
Anyway, I do respond when I can. And I keep most of the comments I’ve gotten to go back and reread.
What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?
Hm, hmm. Lots of stuff in the TQ Nonsense series would probably qualify! I’m thinking of Unfixable, Wolfsong, and Ethanol. And there’s Bursting Through A Blood-Red Sky (I Can Live, I Can Breathe), of course, but that was always intended to have a fix-it epilogue. It’s just that I wrote it in a couple of hours day-of, stared at it, and decided I didn’t wanna just then. But now that’s As Long As You’re Still Burning Bright (I’m Still Awake), and that’s probably the best romance I’ve written, so that one worked out.
Do you write crossovers? If so what is the craziest one you’ve ever written?
Now and then! When the urge strikes. Uhhh, I’ve got a series of Doctor Who x Undertale crossovers I actually made a whole dang verse for that never made it to print. Get a couple great comments on that every few months or so. I think the World Trigger x Undertale crossover is probably weirder, though, by virtue of WT being a very small fandom. My enthusiasm kinda sputtered out on that one.
Mostly I just daydream crossovers with whatever happens to catch my eye at any given moment. I have a lot!!!! Though odds are out on whether I manage to remember any of them once the initial thought’s passed, lol.
Have you ever received hate on a fic?
Gotten a couple eyebrow-raising comments, but I think mostly I’m just too small a writer to draw that kind of attention.
Have you ever had a fic stolen?
I don’t? think so? Think my tastes are a little niche for most people to bother ^^;
Have you ever had a fic translated?
I had someone apologize once for any language mistakes in their comment cause they had to run it through a translator! That’s not what you asked (the answer is no), but it’s very flattering to think that someone liked my fic enough to read and comment despite the language barrier.
Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Yes! :D @pidgeonpostal was gracious enough to agree to co-write Five Nights at Denny’s with me off an idea about shoes. This has fulfilled a long-held dream of mine (collabing with someone, not the shoes) and also introduced me to some lovely people.
What’s your all time favorite ship?
Who has time for just one? ;3c Honestly, I care more about the characters and how the relationship – any relationship – between them changes them than I do about ~A Ship~ as a solid, bounded noun-object. I’ve got characters I like more and less and feelings about who does and doesn’t have chemistry in which directions with whom, but finding anything that agrees with those preferences is hard, harder when you take alloromanticism into account. I’ll play in any sandbox with cool toys, especially if other folks have already built sick sandcastles there.
What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?
[kicks every single unfinished fic further under the bed] What nooo no WIPs here, everything on my account is either finished or does not exist
I’ve got a couple extra chapters of Sweeter Than floating around unposted, but 1. that fic’s a mess 2. high school Twixt and post-college Twixt are different people and trying to contort myself into three other me-shapes just cause people Like this fic is not something I’m super interested in 3. it’s headed for an emotional dip and I’d rather leave it where it is than post two chapters, stall out again, and leave folks with a bad end.
As for other fics... it’s looking more and more likely that v7 of my Yellow Brick Road AU will never actually make it out. >w>; I’ve got some really great ideas, but not enough to make me feel like I know what I’m doing, and that’s a big roadblock. Plus trying to engage with RT’s Atlas-Mantle worldbuilding in any serious capacity is... a headache. I can’t recommend the Happy Huntress Cinematic Universe enough, but it leaves some pretty big shoes to follow! And I’ve got small feet. <w<;
What are your writing strengths?
Dialogue’s fun, probably as an extension of characterization. I love tearing into what makes people tick, especially against the backdrop of their environment, the story they’re in, and the people they’re up against. Voice is a double-edged sword; I’ve been told my writing is really recognizable and individual, but on the other hand, I’ve been growing frustrated with with the limits of my narrative ability. There’s a strong rhythm I keep when I write (you might notice it here, even) but that leaves me feeling predictable and stale. I’m not sure I’m great at setting as a matter of course, but I’m pretty good at describing setpieces where the need comes up; that comes from my background in poetry, as does the fun I have with sublimating and abstracting complex imagery. And I think I bring some needed nuance to the universal. For good or ill, I don’t do what “everyone else” is doing.
What are your writing weaknesses?
Well, writing, for one thing. If I don’t know how something’s going to go and don’t have the urge to write it, it isn’t getting done, which means there’s a billion things that will never see the page and a few hundred more that are never getting finished. I lose momentum easily and have a hard time getting started, and I put way too much standing on finding a foothold with other people; as critical as I am of my work, I have high expectations for the stuff that passes muster, and it never seems to measure up. I’m also really uncreative. Yeah, I can mix up elements and extrapolate events, but coming up with things wholesale is really hard, which is why I avoid it wherever possible and steal/reskin stuff from other places instead.
What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
Something along the lines of “Hoo boy, I am Not qualified for this but hopefully it’s decent anyway.” Maria’s Spanish lines haven’t been a big deal – I’ve used it sparingly and, as a Latin language, it should be easy for English-speaking audiences to pick up on the gist – but I’ve had a harder time with Tai’s Chinese, both because I have Even Less background there and because it is, of course, an entirely different language system. If I write it out in English or Romanized italics, am I colonizing it or changing the meaning? If I write it out in the presumed-original characters (presumed because it’s Google Translate and who knows if I’m even barking in the right forest), am I confusing or alienating my presumed-majority-English-speaking audience? Where should I put the translations? Should I put the translations? And for Frisk’s sign language, thinking back, are the brackets I used instead of quotes alienating/infantilizing? I like that different characters give the text between a different feel, but I’m not an ASL speaker – and I’m pretty sure the word is “speaker,” which would only reinforce that that demographic would rather I didn’t do that. It’s important for all these characters, I think, that they use non-English language where it makes sense; it’s part of who they are. But as a white monolingual English-speaker, I don’t think I can really weigh in.
What was the first fandom you ever wrote for?
Thaaaat’d be Pokémon, followed closely with Sonic the Hedgehog. Whether those fics are still on my ff.net account or not (pretty sure I’ve purged them, but you never know) I’ve still got a couple saved to a folder on my current laptop, ostensibly so I can look back and see how far I’ve come and more practically to allow for the possibility of furthering group cohesion through public shaming.
What’s your favorite fic you’ve written?
I still like the idea behind The Man Who Is Atlas, and Burning Bright (Still Awake) gets props for being my current fic, though it’s currently in that spot where I’m excited to get new chapters posted but also quietly marking everything up in red pen. I think Harbinger gets the crown here, at least for now.

you know im weak for creature/human trope!!!!! in any creature/superatural fic i do i tend to PREFER monster/creature/gods/demons/etc in one of half of the pairing while the other is just plain old human :PPP bc i think it’s really interesting that the power dynamic should be skewed on the part of the non-human partner more bc HELLO THEY’RE NOT HUMAN AND POWERFUL ENOUGH TO KILL YOU!!!! but to me it’s the human who ends up getting the upper hand in the end bc the non-human partner is the one who is DUMB ENOUGH TO GET ATTACHED TO THE HUMAN in the first place and also, they’re kinda whipped for their humans.
LIKE, take wolfsong for a sec. here is this bamf wolf from one of the strongest pack in the land but bc childhood mistake katsuki bonded to izuku but izuku isn’t bonded to KATSUKI bc well he’s not a wolf so it doesn’t/shouldn’t work like that. katsuki is the future primus of his pack and terrifyingly good at what he does but right in front of izuku, his desire is overflowing and spilling out how much he needs izuku and it takes absolute herculean effort for him to shut it off. izuku’s entire existence is his trigger and KATSUKI SHOULD BE THE ONE WHO IS FEARED AND TERRIFYING!! he’s a goddamn wolf!!! they’re big, strong, scary af but izuku is actually the one who makes him undone and it’s just??? SO FUCKING FUNNY TO ME lol. but, also sad too i guess ///o\\\.
i love the theme of love vs duty and it’s one of those theme i genuinely write a lot about in my stories. i think when you’re in any kind of position of power (i.e. a ruler of a country, leader of your pack, etc) where do you draw the line of not letting your feelings affecting your job. a lot of time you are require to make extremely tough decisions that doesn’t end well for everyone. somebody is going to lose out and you’re in a position to decide who WILL lost and sometimes that choice mean better for all at the sacrifice of few or one. you can’t always please everybody, and you certainly can’t save everyone and i think a lot how if that decision come about when the person you love is a part of it and what it mean to lose that person but in the end you save/help a lot more ppl. LIKE, how is one person >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> than all the world??? that is something you have to ask yourself, duty or your heart and i love that kind of thematic choice with gravity bc the answer isn’t easy at all and some will argue there’s no right or wrong way to it  while others will say chosing to follow your heart and the expanse of others is A SELFISH ONE.... but who said i have to set myself on fire just to keep everybody warm, ya know?? IT’S SUCH CONFLICTING THING and i love iiiiit.
in wolfsong, katsuki is at this crossroad for him bc his wolf and heart yearns deeply for izuku bc it has long chosen one but the more pratical and cynical side of him knows that izuku doesn’t belong here, doesn’t belong WITH HIM bc they’re just too diff. izuku just won’t ever hear the songs katsuki’s wolf sings so how can he hope to be with someone who CAN never truly understand every part of him??? like, that’s just one of the hurdle he has to cross but also bc izuku is a human and katsuki is the heir to his pack so how can he ever give it all up for a lowly human??? all his life ppl has put so many expectations and told him of his greatness that he’ll bring prosperity and greatness to their pack and he can’t throw it all away just for izuku. it’s just... extremely hard and conflicting for him. he can’t just decide on a whim bc whatever he chose will have deep repercussion throughout the packlands and so many lives count on him so he chose his ppl over izuku. IT’S not perfect or ideals but that’s just the way it is. his need for izuku means little in the grand scheme of things as long as katsuki live under the rule of the pack.
which,,,, just mean it’s izuku turns to rise up to the occasion :3c!! bc he’s human, he can’t have katsuki. bc he’s human he doesn’t belong there. bc he’s human. BC HE’S HUMAN which all sounds like an excuse to izuku’s ears but izuku have long waited for katsuki and he won’t let him go at all. if he katsuki can’t chose him and izuku will make it so he doesn’t have to. that in the end he can have his pack AND IZUKU bc izuku will force his way to be part of the world. CAN YOU IMAGINE THERE’S SOME UBER POWERFUL AND LARGE PACK AND THE 2ND HIGHEST RANKING PERSON IN THAT PACK ISN’T ANOTHER WOLF BUT A HUMAN?? the thought of izuku bulldozing his way into wolf society and carving his place there even though he’s human just so he can be with katsuki is--!!!!!!!!!!! look, he knows what he wants and he’ll do everything and anything to get it and if that means adapting to wolf society then SO BE IT.

why you should read tales from verania by tj klune
Tumblr media
yo it’s me, ya girl, back with another book rec
if you’ve seen my post about wolfsong, you know who i am and you’re welcome
if you liked wolfsong, you will like this series too!!!
it’s by tj klune who also wrote wolfsong so you know it’s gonna be good
typical of a tj klune book: no love triangles, beautiful A+ writing, amazing characters
once again it’s fucking Gay
magic gays
wizards and dragons that are all gay
LESBIAN DRAGONS
an asexual character!!
there’s four books- with a prequel series in production!!! tj klune is writing it soon! that means once you finish the series, there’s more to look forward to!
another plus, just like with wolfsong: THERE IS NO FANDOM ON TUMBLR. and only 2 fics on ao3! that gives you an opportunity to write all the fics and draw all the art you want!
uhhhhh GAYS and MAGIC did i mention that
SAM OF WILDS
SAM
OF
WILDS
A DASHING AND IMMACULATE KNIGHT
a gay unicorn without a horn
this series is a lot sillier than wolfsong, but don’t let that fool you!! once you get past the jokes and the funny dialogue, you get to the heart and soul and gut-punching emotions
underneath all the jokes and silly stuff there is angst
it’s got the best trope in the first book: two people who are totally head over heels in love and everyone around them knows it except for each other
other fave tropes sprinkled throughout the series, just trust me, did i let you down with wolfsong? i think the fuck not. will i let you down with this? i think the fuck not
read this series please i finished it and then started reading it all over again directly after so please scream with me

Do u have any creepynoodle fanfics that you would reccomend checking out?? At this point I'm running out of good ones besides Chains and I've reread that like 40 times bc its rad
//It depends on what you like to see in fanfics, friend. I prefer the darker ones, where the creeps are still killers with no remorse and the reader is constantly reminded of that fact throughout the story. If that’s what you’re into as well, try the following on Quotev:
- Lucifer Effect, by Virgo; this one is less ‘x reader’ and more focused on Jeff the Killer. Basically, it starts with Jeff locked up in a mental facility where a psychologist with a long name that I can’t pronounce is trying to ‘cure’ him. You show up as the reader a few chapters in as one of the psychologist’s interns, and let me tell you - things get really fucking crazy in this fic. It’s really good in my opinion, but not for the faint of heart. Also, probably not for youngins, as there is mention of sexual content/rape and lots of gore. This one is still on-going, and I must warn you that the updates aren’t regular.
- Laughter with the Lights Off, by I-HATE-SWEETS; this one is really interesting. You’re the reader going to visit your grandmother in another state, but when you get there you find a creepy old lady who is supposedly friends with your dear old grandma that was instructed to pick you up and take care of you until further notice. Then the creepypastas start to show up one by one; what do they want form you? You’ll just have to read it and find out. I ain’t givin’ no spoilers. This story is complete, so you can read all the way through to the official ending.
- Rubber Ducks: and other stories from the vault, by Jackie Kills; this fanfic was actually created by the mod for the @creepypasta-fandom-is-trash account here on tumblr. It’s set in a post-apocalyptic near future where the world’s human population has been almost completely wiped out by a virus. You as the reader were a paramedic before ‘the Fall’ as it tends to be called, and you end up meeting the creeps (of course you do - it’s a creepypasta story, after all). It isn’t complete yet, but still ongoing and I really like it.
- Side Effects, by Ash; this one is less about creepypasta and more about the Marble Hornets side of things, really. The characters you deal with are Slenderman and his proxies (the proxies being Tim, Brian, Jay, and Kate the Chaser - I know she isn’t in Marble Hornets, but she’s in this story with the Marble Hornets crew). The reader in this story is actually gender-neutral, and I appreciate that as a non-binary person. The story is still ongoing with irregular updates, but I enjoy it so it’s in my library with the others on this list.
- The Switch (Creepypasta Story), by LittleDreamer; this one is very interesting. It only deals with Slenderman and his proxies (this time the proxies in question are Masky, Hoodie, Ticci Toby, and one other that you’ll find out later). The premise of the story is that Masky and Hoodie are recognized in your town and on the news as infamous mass-murderers. You decide to go to a Halloween party dressed as Hoodie, and your costume is so convincing that when the real duo show up to kill everyone at the party, Masky actually mistakes you as Hoodie and takes you with him. As you can imagine, chaos ensues as a result. I really like this one. Again, it’s incomplete with irregular updates, but still really awesome in my opinion.
- Dancing with Death (Laughing Jack), by Wolfsong; this story is pretty good. It’s about a girl named Airrena who has a little brother, Jarred. Eventually our favorite monochrome clown takes an interest in Jarred, and it’s up to Airrena to save him. This story has two sequels, the first being called ‘Playing with Fire’ and the second being ‘Whispers of Laughter’. Whispers of Laughter is not yet complete, but this story is great. Airrena and Jack end up having a common enemy. Eventually the Candy Duo, Jason the Toymaker, Laughing Jill, and April Fools get involved and the story takes a very interesting turn. What I really like about it is that there isn’t an instant attraction between Airrena and Laughing Jack - we’re three books in and they still kinda hate each other (it’s easing up a bit, but yeah). So, yeah. I really recommend it.
- Dark Paradise (Jeff the Killer x OC, Eyeless Jack x OC) [ON HIATUS], by Divine Chaos; this one is on hiatus for now, but there’s still enough of it there to start reading and get really into the story. The basis of it is that a spot has opened up in Slenderman’s mansion for a new creep. A handful of newbie killers of various backgrounds and species have been selected to compete in various challenges designed by the creeps to see who gets the spot. It’s a game of elimination, so the person who comes in last during each challenge gets killed by the canon creeps. The story focuses on two OCs in particular: Cherry, and Nyx. These two have very interesting dynamics with the canon creeps, especially Jeff and Eyeless Jack (as the title implies).
This is (in my opinion) the best of what’s in my library. So, if you see one that catches your interest, I recommend looking into it. c: //

I aten’t dead, I am still slowly plugging away on several fics and about half a scene from finishing chapter 1 of Three-Ring Wedding, I just got a PS4 a couple weeks ago and then after a week of tumbling down a Death Stranding hole remembered that there was a PS4 reissue of .hack//G.U. which for some reason I didn’t get around to playing when it originally came out, so Norman Reedus and the Funky Fetus is currently on the back burner while I’ve been cramming delicious .hack into my greedy maw.
Anyway, just to hold y’all until I get this last scene written and get this thing tidied up to publish: a bit of the Monsters & Mana scene.
Shan Cedarwind starts to suspect that everything is about to go horribly wrong when they open the door on a roomful of treasure and Pike doesn’t like it.
Pike is a thief. His entire reason for being is to fill his pockets with as many shiny things as he can cram into them. This room is full of shiny things and he is not touching any of them, he is in fact actively trying not to touch them, and that is definitely not a good sign. He looks over his shoulder and gives that new paladin they just picked up outside the dungeon entrance the hairy side-eye. That new paladin who just happened to show up to replace the one they lost in that freak landslide on the way to the ruins, who in turn just happened to show up a few minutes after their original paladin picked a fight with the wrong woodland creature...
Shan is tall enough to peer over Pike’s shoulder and see exactly what’s got him so rattled. In the center of the room, on an ornate pedestal, is a sword. A beautifully crafted greatsword, its flawless blade razor-sharp and gleaming in the torchlight, its hilt encrusted with glittering gems. No display case. Nothing securing it onto its stand. It’s just sitting there. Out in the open. Where anyone could pick it up.
“Yeah, no,” Pike says. “Nobody just leaves a sword like this out unless they want someone to try and steal it. And the only reason they’d want someone to steal it is...”
“I got you. ‘Scuse me.” Wolfsong clears his throat and edges past Shan and Pike and into the room. He starts to sing a spell--detect magic, by the sound of it, and then he stops halfway through and shakes his head. “You know what, I don’t even need to finish this,” he says. “It’s definitely very, very cursed. I say we get the hell out of here and forget we ever saw it.”
Shan tosses a glance over his shoulder at the paladin. He’s not saying a word... but he’s staring at that sword in a way that’s making Shan really, really nervous. Surely he’s not thinking about...
Oh God, he probably is.
Their healer is watching the paladin as well, and he sees the writing on the wall just as Shan does, probably just as everyone else in the party does. “Okay. Okay, nobody do anything crazy yet.” Block shoots the paladin a pointed look. “Maybe I can fix it.” He carefully picks his way in behind them, being extra careful not to bump or jostle anything and considering how big he is, that’s a pretty impressive feat. “Dispel magic oughta work, right? Curses are magic, so...”
“Uh...”  Meklavar the dwarf engineer pops up on her toes, trying to see what’s going on. “You don’t have to actually touch it, do you? Because... I wouldn’t.”
“I don’t think so, I think all I gotta do is like... throw stuff at it and say some words, right?” Block pulls a little vial out of his pocket and uncorks it. “‘Kay, here goes. I cleanse this super cursed but really cool-looking but super cursed sword in the name of--”
He flicks the contents of the vial towards the sword and immediately goes flying backwards like he’s been kicked in the chest by several angry mules. Miraculously, he doesn’t bowl any of his fellow adventurers over on his way back out into the corridor.
“Oh crap!” Meklavar zips back to his side to help him up and holds three fingers up in front of his unfocused eyes. “Block? You still in there? How many fingers am I holding up?”
“Fourteen,” Block whimpers. “I’m... just gonna lay down here for a minute if that’s cool with everyone.” And with that, he passes out quietly.
“I got this.”
That was the paladin, and Shan feels his blood run cold until he sees the paladin crouch down and sprinkle something on Block’s head and realizes “this” does not mean “the sword.”  Maybe, just maybe, this paladin knows better than to just run in and grab an extremely cursed sword. Maybe.
“Oof.” With the help of the dwarf and the paladin, Block staggers back to his feet, still shaking the cobwebs out. “Okay. Nope. Super cursed and it hits back. What do you think, Haseo? You’re immune to curses and stuff, right?”
“Most curses. Not all.” The assassin gives the sword a once-over and makes a face. “You’re no slouch and look what it did to you. Besides, I can’t use a two-hander. Nobody’s going to buy a cursed sword and if you can’t uncurse it I don’t know who can, so there’s no point in taking it back to town either. I’m with Wolfsong. It’s not worth the risk. Let’s just get out of here before someone gets hurt.” He leans on the word “someone” just hard enough to make it painfully clear which “someone” he’s talking about.
But that goes right over the paladin’s head. He’s making his way into the room. Which means he’s made up his mind and it’s already too late. Without a further word Shan reaches up and gets a firm handful of the back of Wolfsong’s collar. He reaches up with his other hand and gets the back of Haseo’s. Wolfsong looks like he’s about to protest, but he sees the resigned look on Haseo’s face, and he glances over his shoulder and sees whatever face Shan is making, and he hisses in a little breath through his teeth.
“Plus ça change?” Wolfsong sighs.
“Plus c’est la même chose,” Shan finishes with a solemn nod. Ever so slowly, ever so carefully, he starts to back out of the room, towing Wolfsong and Haseo along with him.
“Shiro, is there anything we can say that’ll convince you to... not?” Meklavar asks him, and he just shrugs. Like this is no big deal. Like he’s not seriously considering just strolling right over and picking up an extremely cursed sword.
“What? Guys, look, it’s fine. I’m a paladin, right? See, right here. Purifying Touch. Once per adventure I can touch a cursed item and call on my patron to dispel the curse. I’m gonna use that.”
“Okay, wow.” Haseo snorts out a laugh. “He actually put some thought into this one, that’s... something?”
“That’s what I thought.” Meklavar grabs the back of Pike’s belt with one hand and the back of Block’s with the other (because of course she can’t reach their collars) and starts dragging them back down the corridor as well. “C’mon, guys. We’re noping out too.”
“Shiro.” Haseo grabs the paladin by the sleeve before Shan pulls him out of the room, trying in vain to tug him away from the sword. “Please just think about this for a minute.”
“I am thinking about it!” The paladin throws up his hands. “I’m the strongest physical fighter you’ve got and I’ve got crappy starter gear--”
“Because you’re a brand new character,” Shan points out mildly. “Because for some reason, our paladins keep getting themselves killed. Just saying.”
“Okay. Point taken. But if we run into anything hairy deeper down, I’m going to need a better weapon than a pointy piece of sheet metal on a stick to help you fight it, right? Guys, I know it’s risky but I need this sword and I’m willing to burn my special ability to get it.”
“I got a better idea,” Pike says. “How ‘bout we just go back to town and I’ll get you one?”
The paladin raises one eyebrow. “Get me one... how, exactly?”
Pike just flashes him a big toothy grin. “Don’t worry about it.”
“Too late, I’m worried about it! C’mon, you know I can’t let you steal for me. It’s against my code of honor.”
“Steal? Nah. I’ll leave a note. ‘IOU: one sword that doesn’t suck.’”
“There’s a sword that doesn’t suck right here!”
“Ooh. Ooh.” Wolfsong pulls out his songbook and leafs through it. “What about if someone who is totally not me sort of convinces the shopkeeper to give you one for free?”
The paladin scowls at him. “Convinces them how?”
“Uh...” Wolfsong quickly tucks a bookmark between two pages and shoves his songbook back into his bag. Shan is reasonably sure he’s just bookmarked charm person. “Don’t worry about it?”
Haseo holds up one finger. “Quick question. Does it count as ‘stealing’ if the shopkeeper is dead? No reason.” Pike puts up a hand and Haseo slaps his fellow rogue a solid high-five.
“Would you guys knock it off? Nobody is going to rob or charm or stab anybody!” The paladin heaves a sigh. “I saw what it did to Block. It won’t hurt my feelings if everyone wants to clear out before I grab it. But I’m telling you, it’s gonna be fine.”

How would y'all feel about a fic/AU where Ishval reclaims its independence? Where Ishvalans aren't shafted, their culture not depicted as savage or murdery? Where the Amestrian government and characters are called out?

The way I'm still R E E L I N G from the absolute beast of a chapter that was chapter eight—
The way it made me feel breathless? As if all the air was knocked out of my goddamned lungs? The absolute emotional weight? The way every choice felt so heavy??
It's been hours since I finished R's route (have yet to get to everyone else, I'm rereading from chapter 1 to re-familiarize myself with the story) and I am still in a stunned sort of state— I need time to process it all holy shit
