I was wondering, do you have any headcannons on the BATTs?(Derwin/Katya/Amber)
They’re my favorite characters and yet they don’t really say anything and they look dumb but I love them
I headcanon they're all in their early 20's and Amber is the youngest
They're all former students of Raine which is how they became part of their crew in the first place.
Katya immediately started shipping Raeda after seeing their first interaction when reuniting in Eda's Requiem, and could tell there's history there 👀
Before that Katya kinda saw Raine as a Prudish Proffesor (Raine presents themselves a certain way around the BATTs) so when she found out Raine and Eda have history, she was thinking "Woah the OWL LADY? There's more to you than I thought Raine 😏"
(This is SO specific but if you've ever watched Good Omens, Nina's line in this scene, "You're a dark horse Mr Fell 😏". Is the same vibe I'm thinking of)
Amber thinks Katya's a weirdo for doing that. Both her and Katya got the feeling that Eda was Raine's ex. But unlike Katya, Amber immediately assumed Eda was the one to break Raine's heart. I mean this IS the infamous Owl Lady after all, who's constantly dating around 🤨
Amber sees Raine as like a pure, wholesome, parental figure, who can do no wrong in her eyes. (Again, Raine presents themselves a certain way around the BATTs). So she's protective of Raine and was originally suspicious of Eda
After she got to know Eda though she started shipping Raeda alongside Katya too. Derwin has no one idea the girlies are shipping them. He didn't even assume Eda and Raine had romantic history (he was asleep when they were flirting)
Derwin genuinely looks up to Raine as a mentor and admires their professionalism (Raine presents themselves a certain way yada yada)
Amber and Katya are more chotic while Derwin is the more calm straight man of the group
Katya's always trying (forcing) to get Raine to go out their comfort zone, like when she made them read that corny speech. (If not for Eda she probably would have tried to convince them to join a dating app to "find some hot milfs in their area")
Meanwhile Raine just hypes up any attempts Raine makes, like when she was encouraging them during their speech.
Amber is that one girl that's really into cute core stuff like Sanrio that's actually super scary in real life. She's like Abby from Turning Red.
They have a BATTs group chat. Raine initially agreed to it to send messages for any missions, but the BATTs end up using it to have regular conversations and send memes that Raine doesn't understand
Sometime Raine unintentionally becomes that one teacher talks to much about their personal life. But the the BATTs are genuinely invested.
Katya specifically is always trying to get more info on their life out them. Asking seemingly innocent questions about Raine's past relationships that gets Raine to go on rants before realizing and getting embarrassed.
Despite joining to be apart of a rebellion, the BATTs end up seeing each other as family. Much to Raine's guilt knowing the risk of what could happen to any of them.
The BATTs stay friends after Belos is defeated and they become friends with Steve as well

I think Archer really does love Katya

please take my random mischa bachinski headcanons
he LOVES horror video games. especially five nights at freddy’s, phasmophobia and outlast. he likes making members of the choir play with him (Penny and Ricky are the only ones that can play them without screaming every 5 seconds)
the only games he’s played and really hated are subnautica and fallout. the second mainly because he hates seeing the effects of radiation and infection.
he’s really close with Constance. she was the first one to really show him kindness when he moved to uranium, and also was his chemistry lab partner.
Constance is the only reason he passed math because she would always give him her homework, and in return he’d help her with essays.
and on that topic Mischa is such a language arts/english kid!!! Loves reading short stories (specifically horror anthologies) and is into a lot of older folk tales (beowulf and the like)
he’s also really into robots?? (like mentioned his song and loves transformers movies and stuff) he loves the mechanics of them and says that he “gladly accepts Alexa and Roomba as our robot overlords” mostly as a joke, and mostly to piss off Ocean
if there was a robotics club you KNOW he’d be president (Ricky as his vice)
he used to keep his hair long, about to his shoulders. parents made him cut it before his senior year. after he cut it he still kept all his hair ties in his bag or on his wrist just in case a member of the choir needed one.
he has a little sister. shes twelve, but was supposed to be his older sister. she’s a lot nicer to him than his parents and Mischa loves her so much.
he knows how to braid because of said sister. he really loves doing it to the girls in choir. (penny loves when people play with/braid her hair so. win win)
he also knows extensive my little pony lore because of her
he LOVES swimming. one of the kids has a swimming pool, and he always comes over to swim to clear his mind.
he used to only watch horror and big blockbusters, but movie nights with the chorus and specifically hanging out with Noel has opened his horizons a lot. (turns out he really loves rocky horror picture show)
Noel also got him into drag race and he gets. Intense about it. treats the finales like the super bowl. (cried when Katya lost all stars)
the core of Ocean and Mischa’s beef stems from the fact that she’s a Taylor Swift girlie and he’s a Kanye West girlie. He’s not even that invested in the drama between the artists like Ocean is, but one day she ranted about the lore and hidden messages in Reputation for close to 45 minutes and he almost snapped.
can you guys tell who my favorite character is it’s kinda hard to tell idk

The Homestucks are acting like it must only be new people voting for Katya and sayin Vriska losing is a betrayal to 2013 tumblr but I think most of them are forgetting the hallowed tradition for the non-homestucks of tumblr to find their despair kinda funny. This site thinking Homestuck can be an annoying fandom is nothin new.
Hating Homestuck on Tumblr is as core to Tumblr as Posting Homestuck and pretending otherwise is revisionism.
Meanwhile, Miku and Tumblr were both made public in '07, she's got as much history on this site as possible, and she's motherfucking Miku. The World Is Hers. She deserves to win. She WILL win.

Goncharov (1973) cuts
So in the recent Gonchsplosion there’s been a lot of discussion and even dispute about the core facts of the film—who lives, who dies, which homoerotic cigarette lighting sequences appear, who shops for apples, etc. And I think most people don’t know that this is because of the truly bananas number of cuts of Goncharov that have been released at various times and places, often under unclear or conflicting names, with intersecting but nonidentical footage. Back in like, the mid-00s I saw a Geocities site about this—you know the type, it had everything all charted out in ASCII—that estimated that there were over fourteen hours of Goncharov that had been released in total, across I wanna say seven different cuts? That’s a lot of movie. Of course I have no idea how to find that site, it’s probably gone forever now, and there’s no way my iPhone-rotted brain can compare with the pure archival relentlessness of a mid-aughties film studies grad student with a beige desktop computer, so this is just off the top of my head listing of cuts I’m familiar with and what things they do and don’t include. Hope it helps. The Cinematic Release You know it, you love it, somehow the most famous one of all despite the fact it never showed in theaters because the mafia (*cough*CIA/KGB*cough*) destroyed almost all of the prints? Idk man, everyone is obsessed with the idea that this one is the “real” Goncharov which is like a nice change of pace from the common canard that the director’s cut is the “real” cut, but also, bizarre. They’re all real cuts! Get with the postmodern times! Runtime: 3:02. The studio insisted that Scorsese bring it down under three hours and he said he had but he lied. It’s probably apocryphal that Scorsese actually set the clock back 7 minutes during the second screener with the studio to fool them about the runtime—probably he just trimmed some of the opening sequences for this print—but you can see why the story spread, given how aligned it is with the themes/events of the film. Everybody loves a metatextual folktale. Scenes In/Out: Yes bridge scene, no boat scene. Yes Goncharov/Andrey at the fruit market, no Katya/Sofia at the market. No cigarette lighting at all. (I’m sorry but it’s true!) Goncharov dies, Katya dies, Ice Pick Joe lives (or dies offscreen, this is kinda unclear). Heavy clock imagery. Verdict: honestly this is a mid-tier Goncharov at best. The Director’s Cut (Pseudo-Scorsese) This one started to circulate in the 80s and 90s in the US film buff circuit. Some fly by night outfit put out a bootleg VHS which is considered the authoritative version even though you can get a way better digital rip straight from the film. The VHS box set says that this was the version Scorsese first screened for the studio but that’s probably not true. Not clear who actually cut this or why or how. Most of the Netflix footage is from this one but not all of it. Runtime: 4:12. If you’re thinking “damn, that’s a long movie,” then, uh, buddy, hold on to your fuckin hat. Scenes In/Out: Yes bridge scene, yes boat scene. Goncharov dies. Katya lives (doesn’t even fake her death, that’s just gone all together). Icepick Joe dies laughing. Both G/A and K/S at the fruit market but the scenes are played intercut to suggest that they’re there at the same time? Insane choice. Yes G/A cigarette scene. No K/S cigarettes but Sofia does go into the bedroom when Goncharov leaves. Camera doesn’t follow her, though, it just spends a minute and a half staring at the grandfather clock in the hall? Yes exterior Moscow scenes! This is the only cut I’m aware of that has them. Of course they weren’t actually shot on location, it’s all Red Square B-roll plus exterior shots still in Naples. Verdict: gayest Goncharov available in America before the turn of the millennium, probably the one the gay club reenactors had seen. Greater variety of thematic references. The Director’s Cut (Actual Scorsese)
This one came out straight to DVD in like 2003. It was, actually, authorized by Scorsese—although he’s subsequently denied it. But it was definitely stapled together over like a weekend from whatever bits of Goncharov he could get his hands on. This does mean it has an unusually high percentage of non-overlapping Goncharov content; it also means it’s a bit of a mess. Runtime: 3:34. Scenes In/Out: No bridge scene(!), no boat scene. Goncharov dies. (This is shot from like eight angles??) Katya fakes death, lives, gets extended in-credits epilogue in Argentina(!!) No cigarette, no fruit market. Way, way more footage of money, drugs, and guns being shipped into and out of Naples. Clock symbolism almost entirely absent. Icepick Joe gets a three minute death soliloquy for some reason. Palace ball gets like three different scenes? Andrey’s call from the phone booth goes to Valery instead of Goncharov for some reason?? A lot of frankly indulgent long shots and urban b-roll. Verdict: the worst Goncharov you might have actually watched. Only worth it for completionists, and because the DVD had a surprisingly thorough and high-quality soundtrack extra. (Don’t @ me, sapphics who are convinced it’s Sofia coming out of the cabin in Patagonia at the end of the credits and looking down the hillside at Katya—you’re right and it’s perfect but just watch the credits on DailyMotion like a human being, there’s no need to subject yourself to an hour and a half of basically arms trafficking surveillance footage.) The Director’s Cut (JWHJ0715) The version of the film that Matteo JWHJ0715 sent in for consideration at Cannes. (Scorsese did not want to send it in, didn’t feel like it was ready.) Never screened at the festival and it’s not clear how the print leaked. Runtime: 2:38. Yes, the shortest film cut (not counting abridged TV versions) is a “directors cut”. It just. It’s Goncharov, buddy. Scenes In/Out: Yes bridge, yes boat. Goncharov dies, Andrey dies, Katya lives. Icepick Joe dies in a shootout. K/S cigarette but it’s trimmed like crazy. G/A in the fruit market but it rolls straight into the car chase (the cutting is crazy but they mostly make it work.) Verdict: the most action-packed and claustrophobic Goncharov. The shots are mostly interior and the plot has no time to breathe. Kinda weird that that’s what JWHJ0715 thought would play in Cannes but it was a different time. The Director’s Cut (Pseudo-JWHJ0715) Okay, we’re through the looking glass here. This is real film-buff shit. This cut was primarily available in Yugoslavia, of all places. (This is why there are non-optional subtitles in Serbo-Croatian. It claims to be from Matteo JWHJ0715 but it’s almost certainly actually finally put out by his son, Luca. Whether "his son” means “his nephew whom he raised from toddlerhood”, “his long-lost natural child”, or “his younger lover, legally adopted to create some mutual rights for their unrecognized relationship” is as you’d might expect pretty controversial in the Gonchhead community and is unlikely to be resolved soon. Runtime: 6:48 (not a typo) Scenes In/Out: Yes bridge, yes boat. Goncharov, Katya, and Andrey all die. Icepick Joe plunges silently into the Tyrrhenian. Both cigarette scenes, both fruit market scenes (separated by over two hours of film to create a parallel rather than a frantic mishmash (good call imo). Yes palace ball, very early in the film, but only using footage that doesn’t appear in any other Goncharov cut. (The partner-swapping dance sequence.) When Andrey calls Goncharov from the phone booth, it’s Sofia who answers. There’s a flashback scene with B-roll of St. Petersburg but the subtitles insist that it’s happening in Belgrade? Very bizarre, may have contributed to the suppression of the film by the Yugoslav government. Great clock footage, mirror footage, fruit footage, the works. Verdict: the motherlode. the best Goncharov. Everyone who’s seen it says so. Block 9 hours to watch it and another 3 hours afterwards to have a psychological breakdown. More editions: There are maybe half a dozen other prints, but we mostly know them through backward extrapolations from the viciously abridged TV-versions, so who knows. It also seems likely that the whole world of Japanese/Hong Kong/Thai remakes was inspired by another cut totally unknown in the West (given the recurrent flower imagery, among other subtler points), but it’s impossible to say if we’re talking about another cut of the Goncharov footage or some sort of ur-remake. The point is you can keep going, but honestly, the Luca Cut is the one. If you’ve watched that, any other Goncharov just starts to seem like a blooper reel.

Can we please not start doing the whole shipping discourse thing over Goncharov? Shipping doesn't have to be about whats in the original script or what the actors or directors intention was. Its for fun! Even though I'm a hard-core Ganchandry shipper and I do kinda think the Katya love triangle was them redirecting. I'm still a filthy multishipper lol. Gonchandry, Katyandry, Katyarov, and hell even Katyandarov are all valid ships. And I see you rairpair shippers making Goncharov x Ice Pick Joe content (sorry dont know the ship name), let your freak flag fly! And if you don't like a ship, just don't interact or block the tag.

thinking about Goncharov and the Vorkosigan Saga. how in some ways they're similar- beyond kinda similar aesthetics- but at the core they're completely different.
In both of them, you can never go back. Katya betrays Goncharov, as he likewise betrays her (I mean, I know y'all support women's wrongs, but there's a reason she does it in the first place). And there are plenty of betrayals in the Vorkosigan Saga as well, from Baz Jesek to Miles himself to Ekaterin, for example. People swear oaths and break them.
However, in the Vorkosigan Saga, you can go on, forward. Each of the characters I mentioned have second chances, and take those second chances, and grow. In a way this fits in with the setting- there's cryogenic freezing, which literally makes possible life after death, spring after winter. Goncharov never gets to that. Winter comes to Naples, and the movie isn't long enough to see it leave.

imo scorsese's andrey (1973) was Heavily inspired by tolstoy's andrei nikolayevich bolkonsky, their cores, personality and motivation wise, are basically the same in that brooding byronic antagonist you can't help but love kinda way. they're also dicks, but !! it's about the self-imposed isolation and the clinging to the own set of morals in a pretty bleak and violent world as a means of survival, but also a helpless inertia and a reluctance to change. in fact, i might go out on a limb here and say that goncharov and andrey's relationship combined with katya's omnipresence throughout the narrative of the movie is akin to the pierre/andrey/natasha triad from war and peace. both epic, both masterpieces.
#i really do feel like these dynamics are one and the same#but scorsese had a bitchin soundtrack#goncharov#unreality

Find The Word
oh yeah @by-the-grace-of tagged me in another tag game, that’s what’s up
My words are Powerful, Prime, Push, and Puddle. Let’s see here.
Powerful showed up in Chapter 2: Doubts of my as-yet-untitled sequel to The Big Job:
“IT says that you’ve been doing a combination of very interesting searches, Dr. Wingfield.”
Upon hearing the words, Kelly’s growing panic was subdued by a feeling much more powerful than fear: Professional pride. She made herself meet Dr. Light’s eyes, and she muttered, “You erased by doctoral dissertation.”
“We were going to debrief you on that once your current project had been concluded, but I suppose you’re too smart for that. That book in your hands is the only copy of Uncertainty and Entanglement in existence.”
“You fucking redacted my life’s work.”
“Dr. Wingfield, what is the motto written above the door to Practical Research? The one you walk through every day?”
“’We will die in the dark so that others may live in the light.’”
“The Foundation has never lied to you, Dr. Wingfield. We die in the dark so that others may live in the light.”
“Ma’am . . . My theories could’ve changed the world.”
“No, Dr. Wingfield. Your theories would’ve destroyed it.”
Prime showed up in Chapter 1: Family Values of my wip Voidsong: Rise of the Warbringer, though this kinda feels like cheating since “Prime” is part of the name of a place.
“Hmm. Though it has been twenty years since last we spoke, Helga, and though much has changed in that time, still is it plain for me to see when there are further details you aren’t telling me.”
“You are no fool, then. I will tell you, for you ought to know before things out in the wider galaxy progress any further. I wish to continue my raiding, but it is only a means to an end. I plan to focus my raiding on the frontiers of Carolian space, but that too is but a means to an end. I come bearing grim and terrible news, father. Saoirse and I are witches foresighted and we have seen it in our dreams, and Nirtovi there has seen the proof of it with her own eyes. Another crusade is coming. We do not know when it will come, but it will be soon, and it will be the biggest crusade the Carolian Empire has yet launched since human ships first sailed from Nicaea Prime three thousand years ago. It is only a matter of time before cohorts of Sword Brothers are storming every independent system beyond the moons of Beacon. I should like to do something about that.”
“Oh, horseshit. First off, I don’t give a frostwolf’s knot what Carolians do in the galactic core; no Carolian ship has been seen in the halo since Grimm Fellhand made planetfall here two thousand years ago. This crusade means nothing to me, and if you were wise, it would mean nothing to you, either.”
“I thought you would say that. I assume that appeals to altruism will fall on deaf ears.”
“I am a child of the ice and I keep to the laws of ice and steel. I would expect for she who calls herself my daughter to be of like mind.”
I found Pushed in Chapter 1: Aftermath of the untitled The Big Job sequel:
Kelly blinked in surprise. “Oh. Uh . . . yes, ma’am. When I was first assigned to the project, I recognized how dangerous she was and how difficult it would be to contain her; it was obvious that she was only here because she wanted to be. At the time, I recommended that she be terminated before she could attempt a containment breach that would inevitably cost a lot of lives and do a lot of damage to the facility—which is what happened. After a few interviews with her, though, I changed my mind. SCP-[REDACTED] is dangerous, but designating her object class as ‘safe’ was the right call. Things went to Hell because she was being improperly contained. With the benefit of hindsight, if I could go back and do it again, I would recommend releasing her.”
Dr. Light arched her brows and pushed her glasses further down the bridge of her nose. “That’s interesting. Please elaborate, Dr. Wingfield.”
“Yes, ma’am. Though she was always very vague, we did manage to learn that the skip’s ‘family’ fits the typical profile of a Proto-Sarkic community to a T. They’re insular, conservative, xenophobic, tiny, and probably harmless. If we’d released the skip, she would’ve led us right to them, and I think standard containment protocols would be effective. SCP-[REDACTED] knows how to make herself a hard woman to find, but prior to the incident we managed to get a lead. Her most interesting self-alteration, to me at least, is her teeth.”
“Her teeth, Dr. Wingfield?”
“Similar to a shark’s; she has a lot of them, and can discard them and grow them back as needed. Mineral analysis of one of her teeth indicates that she’s spent several years drinking well water in the Bitterroot Mountains. Our Sarkists are headquartered somewhere in western Montana.”
“Hmm. Good work, Dr. Wingfield. Very good work.”
“Oh. Um, thank you, ma’am.”
And I found Puddle in Chapter 3: In the Family Way of same. The word “puddle” occurs twice so far in the document and both of them are references to people being turned into puddles of red paste, which I guess is what happens when one of your characters is a Type Red KTE.
Nix blinked. “It’s 2021.”
“This means nothing to me.”
“Katya, what are you talking about?”
“Oh! A thousand thousand apologies. I . . . I do not believe that I am Katya. Tell me, ah . . . who is it you think you’re speaking to?”
“Karcist Katyamina Nisureika, of the Order of the Red Root.”
Katya laughed long, hard, and loud. “A karcist of the Red Root! Oh, how delightfully rustic! I hope she hasn’t been boring you, prattling on about cattle bloodlines and the price of millet.”
“Um . . . I believe Katya said her family runs a cherry orchard.”
“Oh, moved up in the world, have they? Ah, in any case, I believe I knew this Katya’s ancestors, and they were good people, if a bit provincial. Um . . . are the two of you . . . Mekhanites?”
“We are.”
“And, based on the fact that you have not been turned into puddles of red paste, I infer that the two of you and this karcist must be friends. That is very, very interesting.” She turned to Dr. Farkas. “And you. I recognize those markings. You are an Archivist!”
Dr. Farkas blinked. “Uh . . . that’s a very archaic term. I’m an agent of the Serpent’s Hand. But, yeah.”
“What a strange place the world has become. You say it’s the year 2021; by what reckoning?”
***
alrighty! I’m gonna tag uhhhhh @ashen-crest and uhhhh @zmlorenz whoms’t tagged me in the last one of these and uhhhh @arty528

Thoughts on the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D series finale
********AOS SERIES FINALE SPOILERS AHEAD*********
********AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D SERIES FINALE SPOILERS AHEAD*********
*******SERIOUSLY. IF YOU DON’T WANNA BE SPOILED STOP READING NOW********
You were warned.
Okay. So Agents of Shield is finished.
On the first watch I won’t lie, I was REALLY conflicted and bothered by the ending. I really couldn’t understand why they chose to go that route and I ended up pacing my house for like 30mins. However, after a couple hours of mulling it over, a rewatch and a nap. I understand why they ended it the way they did and actually have a newfound respect and maybe even love for the ending.
I know on first watch seeing everyone (especially May and Daisy) separated and alone initially feels depressing and possibly like the last 7 years of building this family was redundant, but if you look closer, it wasn’t...at all.
When we first met May, she wasn’t just alone, she was broken and self-isolated from everyone that she cared about and who cared about her. After the events of Bahrain, she closed herself down and became a shell of herself while her guilt and self-loathing threatened to eat her alive. The May we see in the final 3 episodes is so incredibly far from that. When Daisy throws Bahrain in her face in s2, the self loathing is still very present and she still can barely speak on it, she still feels like a monster for what happened and she retreats away from the team (to a degree) and back into herself. This reaction is so different to when Kora throws Bahrain in her face in 7x11. May is at a point where she fully realizes she wasn’t the monster in that story, she did what she did to save the innocent, and that at her very core is who she is, a protector of the innocent and those who can't protect themselves. And like she tells Kora, she’s “made peace with it”. In the last scene with May, yes there is a sadness that the team isn’t all together, but she’s not broken, unhappy or even alone. She’s found a new calling teaching at an Academy named after Coulson which upholds his legacy. She’s jovial when Flint comes and she laughs and jokes. It's so far removed from s1 May. Before Bahrain, May wanted kids and even when she was trying to save Katya, you could tell that she cared about kids a lot, this echoes to her protectiveness over the bus kids, and also extends into the Framework where kids being in danger was the thing that kinda brought her back to herself, and then also Robin, who she becomes a mother to. This is where the best of May comes out, she’s a mentor and a protector and in her last scene we see her happily being that to Flint and other students. So it’s full circle, she’s physically away from the team but not holed up alone in a cubicle in pain. She’s healed over these past several years and found a new purpose for her life, and her Shield family and time with them gave her that and made that possible.
The same with Daisy. When we meet her she is truly alone, she’s grown up alone, has nobody, she’s living in a van, she doesn’t even know her real name or date of birth, she’s searching for her family and searching for an identity and purpose. Throughout the last 7 seasons she’s found all of that and more. In this ending, like May, she’s not with the team, but she’s not truly without it either. She’s still in Shield, still doing missions, still in contact with the team, she still has them. If something goes wrong, there isn’t a doubt in my mind that they will come running as they always have, but after several years of fighting Hydra, Inhumans, ghosts, demons, LMDs, aliens, Chronicoms, being stranded on alien planets or at the bottom of the sea, being thrown into the future and then into the past, being mutilated or killed and resurrected or not, they all deserve some reprieve. They also can’t live under each other forever and they all deserve to actually live their lives. At the beginning of the series Daisy was lost and she didn’t know who she was, by the end neither of those are true anymore. She’s found her calling, she’s found family, she’s found relatives, she’s even found love. And now It’s like she’s paying it forward. Someone found her and gave her love, home, family and solid ground and now she’s doing the same for others (namely Daniel and Kora). Everything really goes back to the conversation her and Mack had where he tells her that even if the team dynamic shifts, it's okay and she’ll be okay. In real families we don’t all stay under the same roof forever, we branch out, take jobs in other cities or countries and start families of our own, but it doesn’t negate our original family and I don't think this ending does either. It doesn’t mean found families hold less weight than blood families, because with family (the people you’ve chosen to love and have chosen to love you back, blood or not), even when you’re not around them 24/7, distance and time change nothing. Based on the group conversation, they clearly have been in contact and will continue to be, Jemma saying she’ll email Daisy later about something they had earlier discussed, Mack and Yoyo still being together even though they’re on mission in different places at the moment, May telling Mack she has some names of recruits to send him, Coulson telling Daisy to give him a call once she gets back to Earth etc. It's not that they’re not family anymore or that they’re only gonna contact or see each other once a year, their life choices just have them spread out and busy, but they’re still family. Jemma saying they need to do the group meeting annually doesn’t mean it has to only happen once a year, nor does it mean they won’t interact individually whenever they can, it just means that despite how busy life gets they need to make sure they as a whole group isolate some time to be together however they can. That is the most family thing ever. Throughout the year ppl are busy and you see each other but not everyone together at the same time, but then you have something like Thanksgiving or Christmas where everyone makes it their business to find themselves under the same roof for a day. It feels like the same concept applies here. It only feels sad right now because it's new, but after a while it will be normal. They’ve spent the better part of a decade living under the same roof and now they’re not even on the same planet all the time, it's a weird adjustment, but they will adjust.
As far as Philinda goes. Philinda has been my AoS OTP since season 1 and while I was kinda sad initially that they didn’t end together, I get it. Phil is dead and PhilLMD is just that, an LMD. A robot. He’s not real and as such, while still having Philinda scenes makes me happy, I don’t think I want May to have to settle for a robot no matter how advanced. It’s not fair. Especially with her being an empath now, every time she touches Phil it's a reminder that he’s not real. He can’t grow old with her or be truly intimate because everything about him is coded into him. She deserves the chance and the space to move on and find something real with someone real and him being around her all the time would prevent that because she loves Phil, even though he’s not really here anymore. Phil was ready to go in season 5 as he felt like he had already been given a second chance and didn’t want to be greedy, which is why he didn’t seek out the cure in space. LMD!Phil who works solely off of Phil’s memories and feelings is echoing the same sentiments by contemplating shutting down. It's not fair for May to let herself explore this any deeper (especially now being an empath as she feels things more deeply), only for him to decide to shut down leaving her again, and it's not fair for them to explore this and him to force himself to stay operative until she dies as to not hurt her again, even though his Phil coding is telling him it's time to go. I feel like once everyone is comfortably settled into their new lives and he knows they’re all truly okay, he’ll shut down for good, until then he’s just around in case they need him.
I don’t think I need to speak too much on Fitzsimmons or Mackelena. With everything Fitz and Simmons have endured over the last 7 seasons, retirement (not sure if Simmons is fully retired too) seems beyond reasonable. We’ve watched them lose each other or themselves in one way or another every season, and like everyone else on the team they kept coming back for more when it would’ve been easier to walk away and most probably would have. But they're not most people, they are a family and refused to abandon the team while it was in need. So this ending with their super cute kid is just very deserved and great to see. Mackelena. I love that they’re still agents. I was also initially surprised Mack was still an agent as he seemed like the most likely to leave a couple seasons ago. Maybe the Adventures of Mack and The D gave him a new outlook, realizing that there are so many out there who want to and will do good if given the space and opportunity to. I also love that Piper asked for a Davis LMD and that he and Piper can argue like old times. I thought that was kinda cute.
Overall, I feel like this moment was necessary. Change sucks, but it's necessary for growth. I also think the messaging is great and applies to the cast, the fans and just the world in general. Change isn’t bad, people come into our lives for seasons and they teach us, love us, heal us and sometimes leave us, but that’s not the end. There are new people and new adventures waiting, and the same way people come into your lives for a reason, we also are destined to go into other people's lives and be that person who teaches, loves and heals them the way someone did for us. It’s a cycle. And that's one of the ways the world moves forward and gets better. Good people bringing out the best in other people, who move on to bring out the best in other people, creating more and more good people. Philindaisy will always hold the most special place in my heart in this show. Phil found May in her cubicle and Daisy in her van, and the three of them saved each other in so many ways and gave each other everything they needed as well unconditional, unwavering love and support which helped them move beyond their past traumas to the point where they were mentally healthy and strong enough to not just have the family they formed with each other, but also form their own families outside of the original family unit and do the same for others. That in itself is beautiful. This is the end of this particular part of their journey, but in no way do I think it's the end of the family that they all formed over the last 7 years, because you don’t go through all they went through and then just feel nothing. They will forever be a part of each other and they will forever pull from the lessons, experiences and love they have for and gave each other. And that’s life, and also what I’m taking away from this show.

SCD Week 4 Thoughts
If I don’t do one of these next week it’s cos I can’t be bothered XD. BUT I WILL MAKE MYSELF FOR THIS WEEK XD.
Chris and Karen - He always goes on near the start don’t he XD. OH WELL I’M NOT COMPLAINING XD. I love his energy sooooo much omg AND I’M PICKY WITH THE JIVE XD. Free arm was a mess tho rip XD. Kicks needed to have the knees come up a bit higher to make them more precise but he didn’t flail about which is good XD. Also I’m sad he messed up but he covered it so well XD. As always love Chris!
Emma and Anton - BEST VIENNESE WALTZ SO FAR THIS YEAR. SHIT THAT WAS GOOD. Emma I think looks so beautiful in hold and she nailed every technical aspect while really selling the story. All I’d say is she could use a little bit more flow and fluidity especially at the start when she was doing that swaying next to Anton but that’s just my picky eye XD.
Dev and Dianne - I think he did pretty well!! His footwork was nice and he had a good go at hip action XD. All I’d say is he could afford to loosen up a bit in his top half? It looks a bit static and stiff esp when he tried a body roll and it seemed like his entire top half moved at the same time. But pretty nice!
Catherine and Johannes - It was more of a sassy than a cheeky Charleston but fine I’ll go with it. Catherine certainly got the steps great! And she got the vibe of the dance kind of well XD. She just needs more energy, if she used sharper dynamics on her movements it’d look a lot less lazy. Like, it was great, but those dynamics would have enhanced her performance (kinda like Kazumin and Ranze omg, Ranze was a fine dancer but Kazumin’s dynamics made her performance much better XD).
Alex and Neil - Wow okay this I thought would be her best chance to impress me but NOPE. K let’s go from the top down XD. Her frame was pretty dire, her neck leaned to the side rather than back slightly, she was kind of upright when she needed to lean back a bit and her “tango hand” looked a bit like she was trying to hold a large melon. Out of hold she just looked hunched, I think Neil really needs to work on her posture. Footwork seemed fine in places but she seemed to lose the timing a bit and she could have been sharper. And she also smiled a couple of times but like I think Neil smiled as well so idk what happened there. Seriously sometimes I think Neil’s the only thing keeping her in the competition cos she’s just not good XD. Maybe next week she’ll FINALLY impress me??
David and Nadiya - Welp he’s improved but idk if it’s how much the judges said XD. Half of it was pretty decent, he had nice springy steps and a good energy. But half was messy and out of time XD. His free hand is getting ever so slightly better, the bits out of hold were pretty decent, a bit lazy but decent. But idk where the massive praise came from, he still had poor hold and lost timing a bit.
Kelvin and Oti - I likened it more to soft porn than a dance but sure XD. I knew he’d be good at the Rumba and if I were straight I’m sure I’d be all over him XD. He had great flow throughout his WHOLE body, everything came from his core and extended into the ends of his limbs. He was never shy to be sensual, and bloody hell did he go for it XD. Footwork was great, he told the story well, the only thing I’d point it is his free hand was straighter than Motsi and Shirley were watching this (speaking of Motsi FUCK SHE WAS HILARIOUS IN HER COMMENTS ON THIS DANCE XD. I love her omg) but overall it was absolutely amazing!!
V.Emma and Aljaz - Have to say that was definitely her best dance so far XD. Her energy was great and a lot of the moves she did with a great energy and nice precision. However, her kicks didn’t really kick, her feet seemed to barely leave the floor, so it ended up looking a bit lazy on those parts and not bouncy. But the rest was pretty good!
( @missemperor ) Michelle and Giovanni - She seemed to get the technical moves down well! She could do everything, but like Cath a lack of dynamics makes her look like she’s losing energy. Her arms never seemed to quite get to where she was placing them before she moved them again? And I understand it’s a very fast dance but it just would have made the whole thing look a bit more polished.
Will and Janette - K Paso Doble was last week but SURE BRING THE SPANISH VIBES IN NOW. I think for a slow dance Will did really well! His hold was really nice and he actually had really nice extension when he was out of hold. Sometimes he could have pushed his shoulders back a little where other times he did but oh well XD. And his footwork was nice, he tried flow has best he could and I think he did a great job!
Mike and Katya - Okay it was pretty good but jeez Katya calm down XD. Well it was definitely his best dance so far! He has a natural energy for a Quickstep and he performed it really well. His hold improved from the American Smooth and he kept up with the footwork while keeping it bouncy and light. Maybe he could have been a little sharper when doing steps on the spot, and idk something about his knee bothered me towards the end I don’t have a clue WHAT but something with his knee made him look a bit awkward but maybe he’s just a little man I don’t know XD.
Saffron and AJ - Aaaaaaaaand she annoys me again XD. I NEVER like contemporary dances, idk trauma from GCSE or something, but Saffron just didn’t sell it to me. Her footwork was really nice, don’t get me wrong I’m not about to completely slag her off XD. Her toes were pointed when they should have been, she didn’t look clunky or awkward, the whole bottom half was great. It’s just the top half that didn’t look right. She still needs to push her bloody shoulders back a bit, it makes her look so stiff on top. Because of that I don’t think she moved her arms as much as she could have done, and while she had decent flow she just didn’t quite hit the moves the same as AJ did. Her neck also needs loosening up, everything looks so stiff, she just needs to move a few things more and she won’t look so awkward and stiff.
Karim and Amy - To everyone I’ve said needs to work on dynamics here, TAKE NOTES FROM KARIM. That was amazing!! He had the sharpness of a tango, he sold it so much in his face, and he hit EVERY MOVE. Instead of putting his leg out to touch the floor, he’d extend it so it pretty much mirrored Amy’s leg. He kept up with EVERYTHING. I don’t think I actually have anything bad to say about this one, it was really really REALLY good.
K favourite dances of the night... Chris and Karen per usual, Emma and Anton, Kelvin and Oti and Karim and Amy. Least favourite dance proooooobably Alex and Neil. Again? Idk were they one of my least favourites last week oops XD. Standard was pretty high tonight though everyone’s improving and it’s all looking very close!

The fragile nature of life is one of the core themes of the movie, tho? It's something Andre spent the entire story up until that point struggling to accept and then in the last scene he seems to be at peace with his fate. In the Hulu version (which has a LOT of other editing issues, but that's a whole other post) that development kinda comes out of nowhere? You NEED that scene to see where Andre's growth and forgiving Katya came from.
I'm pretty sure the Netflix version does have the full directors cut but I'm not sure, I watched a pirated version here.
why is nobody talking about the goncharov electric chair scene 😐 I know it's controversial but I feel likebto completely ignore it is disrespectful to the plot as a whole. but thats just me

Photo
And because tumblr is going to destroy this post: the full image Please be kind to my terrible Paint skills, I wasn’t about to bust out an old tablet to make this super fancy. Please know that this is one possible interpretation of the final year, year and a half of Overwatch given what we currently have available to us right now.
Sources and more information under the cut:
To start off with, our baseline point is Recall.
Recall is when both the game and the main plot begin - the Recall animation and Winston’s “Are You With Us” recall message are initiated, and this “coincides” with the game’s release in 2016. To make things easier for everyone, my math here is simply to project: 2016 + 60 years forward = Recall initiated in 2076
Fairly straightforward and makes following game updates a bit easier.
From here, forward-progressing events move roughly at the same time as the game has been released. For example:
Summer of 2016 || Summer of 2076: Ana is released || “Old Soldiers” comic occurs
November of 2016 || November of 2076: The Sombra ARG concludes || Sombra leaks LumériCo’s secrets
November of 2016 || November of 2076: “Infiltration” is released || Talon attempts to assassinate Katya Volskaya
November 2076: Volskaya asks Zarya for assistance in finding Sombra
Holidays of 2016 || Holidays of 2076: the “Reflections comic” occurs
Now we’ve entered 2017 || 2077. Things shift slightly here.
On-going throughout 2077: Zarya searches for Sombra
Late February 2017 || Late February 2077: Interview with Efi Oladele is released
July 2017 || Late February 2077: “Masquerade” comic is released || Doomfist breaks out of prison and returns to Talon
March 2017 || March 2077: Orisa is released || Efi builds Orisa
Sometime after Orisa is built, 2077: Zarya meets Lynx in Numbani
April 2017 || April 2077: the “Uprising” event is released || files on the Strike Team’s mission against Null Sector are declassified
July 2017: Doomfist is released
August 2017 || (likely) August 2077: Junkertown map is released || Junkrat and Roadhog initiate “The Plan”
September 2017 || (likely) September 2077: “Searching” is released || Zarya finally finds Sombra
This is why the “Uprising” content all says “seven years ago” - because the game and the overall plot since Recall has moved forward one year, but the actual event of Null Sector’s Uprising did not change in time. So, with the “Recall” event and the “Uprising” information, I have two anchor points of reference for the general, final year of Overwatch: 2076 - 6 years = 2070 2077 - 7 years = 2070
Michael’s GDC talk also gives us a third anchor point: the Halloween party where Reinhardt tells the story of “Junkenstein’s Revenge.” This is actually set during Halloween the year before, so 31st October, 2069 (nice).
I’m breaking this up by section to help make this a bit easier.
Introduction
1. “Six Years Ago:” “Fading Glory: On the Trail of Jack Morrison,” in-universe article (https://playoverwatch.com/en-us/blog/19809396/) 2. Michael Chu’s timeline: “Thinking Globally: Building the Optimistic Future of Overwatch,” a GDC talk given by Michael Chu (Timestamp: 49:12 - clip starts at discussion of materials: https://youtu.be/bj56ejM5EcU?t=2952)
Late 2069/Early 2070
1. “Halloween party:” “Junkenstein’s Revenge,” a comic in which Reinhardt narrates a “scary” story to some of the Overwatch members (https://comic.playoverwatch.com/en-us/junkrat-junkenstein). What is important to note here is that Michael actually puts this in the “Fall of Overwatch” era of his timeline. It is also important to note that several major Overwatch characters - Lena, Winston, and Genji - are either not yet a part of Overwatch, or were not permitted to join the “core members’” Halloween party. I have personally chosen to interpret this as the first option. You may view things differently.
2. Tracer disappears from the timeline (not shown): “I was missing for months” - quote from her Origin video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=27LPGldyY7M). “[Tracer] reappeared months later, but her ordeal had greatly changed her: her molecules had been desynchronized from the flow of time.” - quote from her Hero profile (https://playoverwatch.com/en-us/heroes/tracer/). “Months” here, as I understand it, probably means fewer than 12 months (a full year) but more than “a couple” (2 months). It’s difficult to say when exactly Lena disappeared and when she returned, but we know she had returned by April of 2070 (at the very latest).
3. The Shimada brothers’ duel: alright. Full disclosure inbound. I got a handful of people countering me on this issue in my Moira discussion and here’s my response: we have a number of conflicting pieces of information and many of them could be possible. I’d like to run through my reasoning for why I’m placing this event in the final year of Overwatch, as well as other possible places it could go.
3.1 “Nearly ten years ago:” a few people brought up that the 2014 Blizzcon Overwatch reveal panel described Hanzo (a then-playable character) as having left his home “nearly ten years ago.” You can find this quote on this transcript here (http://overwatch.blizzplanet.com/blog/comments/blizzcon-2014-overwatch-unveiled-panel-transcript/3). Reason why I disagree with this assessment: this line never made it to either of Hanzo or Genji’s final Hero profiles (Hanzo: https://playoverwatch.com/en-us/heroes/hanzo/) (Genji: https://playoverwatch.com/en-us/heroes/genji/).
That said, this does not mean the line is incorrect, nor that it is not part of whatever internal timeline Blizzard is using. I personally do not think it’s wise to specific details from the 2014 Blizzcon panel because of how old it is and how much changed between 2014 and the game’s release in 2016. Remember - Blizzard was still rethinking its own plot well past the game’s release (when they canceled “First Strike”). But in all fairness, if you want to make your own version of the timeline and use that, then feel free.
3.2 Late March/Early April: I had someone else note the fact that the “Dragons” animation shows several koinobori, or the Japanese koi windsocks traditionally flown on Children’s Day on May 5th. There are a couple of issues with this: one, it does not particularly coincide with the blooming of the cherry blossoms in the Tokyo region (source: http://www.jnto.go.jp/sakura/eng/index.php), which is where Hanamura is “set,” and two, the idea kinda trusts that Blizzard did research on koinobori and when they are supposed to be used. In an effort to be fair to Blizzard, technically, koinobori can begin appearing as decorations as early as April, and be flown all the way through to Children’s Day.
3.3 Genji in training: a related issue to 3.2 and the upcoming 5th event in the timeline is that Genji appears to be testing out his cyborg body in a sparring match against Lena/Tracer. The “Art of Overwatch” book also provides a description that appears to imply that this skin is him when he is still recovering:
“Much like the Origins Edition skins, the designs released for the Uprising event offered a glimpse into a pivotal period of the characters’ lives. One of the most extreme designs belong to Genji. After his brother, Hanzo, nearly killed him, he was taken in by Overwatch and given a new body (below). The experience left the hero embittered and angry, constantly at war with the cybernetics that were now a part of him.
“When designing a skin for this part of Genji’s story, the developers used his outfit to mirror his turbulent state of mind. They made his armor feel like a mishmash of parts, symbolizing the hero’s struggle to accept what he has becomd. The use of red throughout the skin also helped ot emphasize his uncontrollable rage.” - The Art of Overwatch, page 233
No date is given, hence why I feel the idea is only implied, but it is not stated. Again, if you wish to create your own interpretation of this, you are free to do so.
4. Winston crash lands on Earth (no exact date given): this one is very difficult and admittedly extremely loosely incorporated into the final year of Overwatch. You may interpret it differently. My reasoning here is that Winston is not present in the Halloween comic, and no specific details are given in the ironically-named “New Details Emerge About Possible Fate of Horizon Lunar Colony” article (https://playoverwatch.com/en-us/blog/20812209). However, Winston needs to be “present” and part of Overwatch when Tracer returns to the timeline from her accident, so this potentially puts Winston’s landing sometime around the Shimadas’ duel.
5. Uprising: As I described above, I’ve extrapolated that the time since release and the canon-events revealed have some parallels running between them. Obviously, this is not set 100% in stone. However, with Uprising, we do know a few things:
it is Lena’s first mission, so it has to come after her return to the timeline
it features Winston, so he’s either a part of Overwatch now or taking a more active role
it features Winston testing Lena’s chronal accelerator, so it is relatively recent after her return and stabilization
it features Genji before he gets his normal cyborg “skin”
it features Angela who appears to be testing Genji’s cybernetics
Reinhardt has not yet retired
Jesse is still present and part of Blackwatch
Ana is still present
Gabriel is still present
Overwatch is already under public scrutiny
Director Petras has already suspended Blackwatch activities
It takes place “seven years ago” from 2077.
These are a lot of constraints to place on Uprising, but they do limit us to what is likely the final year of Overwatch. The teaser tweet for the event can be found here (https://twitter.com/playoverwatch/status/848958308643885056?lang=en) and the blog post can be found here (https://playoverwatch.com/en-us/blog/20696534). Mid-to-Late 2070 (exact dates unknown) This is where things get very difficult to align, and the majority of events could be effectively rearranged to come before or after each other. 1. Moira recruited to Blackwatch: main source - Moira Origin Story (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ETybQd4uRE) The newest event at the time of this writing, Moira’s recruitment is constrained by two major things - it must come after Genji joins, and it must happen before Genji and Jesse leave Blackwatch. Again, if you see Genji’s fight with Hanzo as happening a couple of years before 2070, then yes, this event could come much earlier. The second “part” of this (which I’ve placed several months after her recruitment in the timeline) is that whatever Moira does or “tests” on Gabriel must come after Ana has “died” and separated from the Overwatch team. Hypothetically, Moira’s “tests” are likely conducted over a period of time, but no matter what, Gabriel’s “final, unmasked appearance” (whatever it is) was never seen by Ana (but hypothetically has been seen by Jack/Soldier: 76).
For the quote that I provided, you can check here (http://segadores-y-soldados.tumblr.com/post/167111711575/moira-preview-new-hero-overwatch-panel) or you can watch the source video yourself:
“Moira Reveal Panel” - quote from Michael Chu (Timestamp: 3:47 https://youtu.be/HsJU3PEk9JY?t=227)
Source for the “Soldier: 24 folder” - http://segadores-y-soldados.tumblr.com/post/167127031445/new-details-on-the-university-map-of-oasis-found
2. Doomfist’s arrest: main source - Doomfist Origin Story (https://youtu.be/vaZfZFNuOpI) Again, no exact date has been given, but there are number of constraints that put this after Uprising:
Tracer is part of the team that arrested him
Winston is part of the team that arrested him (this may come after Winston passes whatever certification test is in the photo in Recall)
Genji appears to have his new cybernetics and may have transferred to Overwatch
Other key members of Overwatch, such as Reinhardt and Torbjörn, are not present and may have retired.
This may come before Moira’s recruitment. Talon activities at this time period are difficult to suss out correctly. As Moira’s hero profile implies:
“After Overwatch was disbanded, O'Deorain was forced to turn to unconventional sources of funding. This time, she was invited to join the scientific collective that had founded the city of Oasis. Yet some have whispered that the shadowy Talon organization had already been supporting her for years, aiding her experiments in exchange for utilizing the results for their own purposes.” Moira may have already been working for Talon at this time. The “organization had already been supporting her for years” overlaps with her recruitment into Blackwatch (no matter where you put it), meaning she may have entered Blackwatch and Overwatch as a Talon agent. It is also possible that she was approached by Talon AFTER becoming a Blackwatch agent.
This is important - and unfortunately very vague - because our next two points rely on knowing when and how Talon began infiltrating Blackwatch and Overwatch. 3. Amélie’s transformation into Widowmaker (no exact date given): main sources - Widowmaker’s Hero profile (https://playoverwatch.com/en-us/heroes/widowmaker/) and “Legacy” comic (https://comic.playoverwatch.com/en-us/legacy)
The exact timeline of Amélie’s transformation is hard to pin down because so much of it is simply unknown. We have a few constraints but don’t know the exact time or nature of them:
Her skin and heartrate have been affected by whatever chemicals Talon put in her, turning her blue/purple (and yes, that’s canon and not just “aesthetics” - “then her physiology was altered, drastically slowing her heart, which turned her skin cold and blue and numbed her ability to experience human emotion.”)
However, her Talon skin does not have the blue/purple tint yet, so it’s possible this is a representation of her shortly after she killed Gérard (I suspect Overwatch would’ve been much less casual about letting her return to her husband if she had been, well, literally blue/purple).
It is not known if this process was started before or after Moira joined Blackwatch, but it is incredibly suspicious that a “possibly Talon-affiliated” scientist with knowledge of altering genetics and physiology who is literally shown testing chemicals on her own arm which later turns blue/purple appears in the exact timeframe that Amélie’s transformation begins. The Fall of Overwatch: Late (?) 2070 1. Ana’s “death:” main sources - Ana Origin Story (https://youtu.be/yzFWIw7wV8Q) and “Legacy” comic. For my original discussion on this, check here: http://segadores-y-soldados.tumblr.com/post/159512959195/alright-so-the-subject-of-ana-being-the-source-of Ana’s death was likely a major, major turning point for both Overwatch and Talon. Again, it’s hard to place because it appears to come after the majority of Amélie’s transformation into Widowmaker, but again, the exact date to place this is unknown. Many fans originally believed that Ana had “died” much, much earlier in the timeline, like, several years earlier. However, after Uprising was released and it was revealed that Ana was still present early in the final year, fan theories had to be changed.
It also makes a lot more sense if Ana’s “shoot-off” with Widowmaker occurs very close to the Fall of Overwatch - so close that she was not able to recover in time and return to the organization to help repair any rifts her “death” may have caused. However, it also has to come before Gabriel’s final transformation or shift into “Reaper,” because Ana does not recognize “what has happened” to him.
It is also a little difficult to sort out, but a major “potential” cause for a rift between Jack and Gabriel could stem from discussions about Ana disobeying orders. It’s a small detail to catch, but in the “Legacy” comic, Ana deliberately defies orders to evacuate and turns off her communications device, possibly leaving the Strike Team unable to find her location. However, in the “Old Soldiers” comic, Reaper says that Overwatch “left [Ana] to die,” which seems to contradict the point that she disobeyed evac orders. I know many fans don’t like the idea of the fallout between Gabriel/Reaper and Jack/Soldier: 76 being over a miscommunication, but it seems entirely plausible that Jack returned from the mission without Ana, claiming she had ignored his orders, and that Gabriel had accused him of abandoning her. Again, this is my interpretation of the events presented. Reading between the lines, especially with such large gaps in the plot, is a difficult task and you may choose to interpret things differently. 2. Events with unknown dates: there are three events that have no set dates but occur near or close to the Fall of Overwatch, or at least must occur after certain other points. These are: 2.1 Genji leaves Overwatch: this must occur after he participates in the arrest of Doomfist. 2.2 Jesse leaves Blackwatch: this must occur after Uprising and Moira’s recruitment (bare minimum), and must occur after “the infighting” within Blackwatch had begun (McCree’s Hero profile: https://playoverwatch.com/en-us/heroes/mccree/). Direct quote: “McCree appreciated the flexibility afforded to the clandestine Blackwatch, unhindered by bureaucracy and red tape. But as Overwatch's influence waned, rogue elements within Blackwatch sought to bring down the organization and turn it to their own ends. Wanting no part of the infighting, McCree set off alone and went underground.” 2.3 The “Venice incident:” an unknown event alluded to in Moira’s Hero profile, in which her presence in Blackwatch is revealed (Moira’s Hero profile: https://playoverwatch.com/en-us/heroes/moira/). Direct quote: “Her employment was a closely kept secret, until it was uncovered during inquiries following the Venice incident. Many high-ranking Overwatch officials disavowed all knowledge of her affiliation with them.” This is significant because a major Talon leader - Vialli - works in Venice and appears (briefly and much later) during the events of the “Masquerade” comic.
These events have no set dates and no particular order. Michael Chu has stated that McCree and Genji kept in touch after leaving Blackwatch separately, but no dates are given for that. 3. “What happened to you?”/“It was a conspiracy:” Main sources:
Reaper’s Hero profile: https://playoverwatch.com/en-us/heroes/reaper/

And now Here we are. I’ve put these two events side-by-side because it’s incredibly likely that they’re linked in some way. The exact nature of their connections are still unknown, as are their dates. Hypothetically, by the time Genji and Jesse leave, “whatever happened” to Gabriel has not yet occurred. That said, Michael Chu has stated that Jesse McCree has not seen Gabriel/Reaper in the current plotline, but that, if they were to meet, McCree “would known [sic] that Reaper was Reyes if he encountered him” (https://www.reddit.com/r/Overwatch/comments/6b63j3/ama_request_michael_chu/dhlepud/). In other places, Michael has stated that the only people who recognize that Gabriel is Reaper are Jack, Ana, and Sombra (this is prior to the release of Doomfist and Moira). Direct quote: “So far: Ana and Jack (when they encountered him in Old Soldiers) and Sombra (because she Knows Things). “Even with everything that's happened to Reyes, Ana and Jack would be able to recognize him immediately, given all their close experience serving together over the years. “(To make it extra confusing: it gets a little more complicated in-game because we chose to have some non-canon interactions because I think it's more interesting to have Reinhardt take out Reaper and say, "Traitor!" than to accurately reflect that he doesn't know Reaper's true identity. But as I've said before, events in game shouldn't be considered strictly canon.)” - Michael Chu (https://us.battle.net/forums/en/overwatch/topic/20753735625#post-13) So we’ve come to a few constraints on Gabriel’s “appearance:”
Jack/Soldier: 76 knows that Gabriel is Reaper by the time of “Old Soldiers,” if not beforehand.
Ana recognizes him by demeanor and personality, but is horrified by his appearance when she unmasks him in “Old Soldiers.”
Despite having worked with him for the same amount of time as Ana, Reinhardt canonically does not know who “Reaper” is, but would recognize him if he encountered him.
Jesse McCree canonically does not know who “Reaper” is, but would recognize him if he encountered him.
Interestingly, Widowmaker does not know who “Reaper” is.
Winston does not appear to know who “Reaper” is.
Genji may or may not know who “Reaper” is.
It is important to note that, by the time of the explosion at the Swiss Watchpoint, the majority of these characters are not present in Overwatch anymore. Ana, Reinhardt, Jesse, Amélie (if she ever was close to the Overwatch agents), and Genji have all left. Winston, presumably, is at Watchpoint: Gibraltar. The locations of characters like Torbjörn, Angela, and Lena are unknown.
That leaves three possible “major characters” at the Swiss Watchpoint at the time of the explosion: Gabriel Reyes, Jack Morrison, and potentially Moira O’Deorain. Her direct involvement in this event is unknown. According to the “Fading Glory” article, both Gabriel and Jack were seen by witnesses as being present in the Watchpoint before the explosion. Soldier: 76 confirms this in his Origin Story. Reaper confirms that he too was present at the base in the “Old Soldiers” comic.
What is significant is that Nesskain has confirmed that Gabriel is “scared” when what appears to be his final transformation is occurring (in the presence of Moira), yet for some reason, he specifically blames Jack and Overwatch for “what happened to him.”
Ana: “What happened to you...?”
Reaper: “He did this to me, Ana. They left me to become this thing...”
Ana: “Gabriel...”
Reaper: “They left you to die. They left me to suffer...”
Reaper: “...Never forget that.”
Reaper’s explanation in “Old Soldiers” is fascinating because it appears to be in direct contrast with information given to us in “Legacy” (Ana chose to turn off her comms) and the Moira Origin Story (Gabriel approached her for recruitment, Moira either created or enhanced his genetic mutations, resulting in his “Reaper” powers and/or current appearance/state of existence). It’s incredibly difficult to say how closely together Gabriel’s shift and the Swiss Watchpoint explosion occurred, or how much they are directly related, but it seems likely they are linked in some way. At the very least, Reaper links “being left behind (to suffer)” by Jack/Soldier: 76 and Overwatch with the explanation for his current (2076) state of existence.
Again, I will leave you to formulate whatever interpretation or conclusion you want. Conclusion You don’t have to use this timeline. I’ve provided every major source that I have for this “final year of Overwatch” - watch them, read them, form your own interpretations, do whatever you want. If your biggest issue is where I’ve placed things, go ahead and rearrange your own puzzle pieces. However, you should keep in mind an important quote from Michael Chu: “One of the things that we really like doing with Overwatch is playing with perspective. We utilize perspective when we tell stories about what characters are thinking, what their goals are - and we have a lot of unreliable narrators. We want people to pay careful attention to what characters think about in particular situations. We want them to use their judgement and knowlege of a character’s thoughts to come up with their own ideas about the universe.” - Thinking Globally (Timestamp: 34:35 https://youtu.be/bj56ejM5EcU?t=2075) Not only are many of the points in the timeline effectively “freefloating” (aka, they have no exact dates, or hell, not even exact months or years), they are also complicated by the matter of unreliable narrators and biased perspectives. The Moira Origin Story gives us a crucial clue to Gabriel/Reaper’s story, but the narration in the video is all told to us by Moira. I am personally infinitely grateful for the Moira Reveal Panel and Nesskain’s comments on his own art because they provide us with very significant clues that are from outsiders looking in. That is, they are not tinted with biases or unreliability.
After going through the new clues on Oasis, as well as listening to the Moira Reveal Panel and seeing Nesskain’s comments, I have revised a lot of my initial ideas on her, Gabriel, and Jack. At the moment, I’m waiting to see if we get any in-game interactions between her and Reaper when she is released to the PTR later. For now, this my interpretation of the Fall of Overwatch.

I'm starting to feel myself getting over Katya returning, and don't get me wrong, I love her, but like the way everyone makes it seems like she was gone for 14 years??? I'm over it??? And I feel kinda bad for feeling over it so idk how do you feel with that if you've ever dealt with that?
hey, love! i think that some people just feel how they feel, and the same goes for you. i don’t blame anyone for missing katya during her time off, but i know fandom experiences can be draining to say the least. i think at the core we’re all just happy to see her doing well!

EPISODE 9: MY LITTLE GREMLINS AND I ARE FLIPPING THE SCRIPT - DOM

Logan went home and I AM SHOOK. I AM SHOOK TO THE CORE!! I thought he could've used his connections with Luke to save himself but looks like the 4 OG Matterhorn are tight as a rope. Right now Tyler could be in danger because I feel like this challenge is in Max's wheelhouse.
Now my tribe is in a dilemma because we all like each other and we have to vote each other out. Thank the sadistic hosts for that. Now hopefully I win this immunity because I need to be absolutely sure I'm going to merge because ain't no way am I gonna be a pre-merge boot!

Well, the plan worked out and Logan left. It sucks and kinda felt like how I'd imagine kicking a puppy would feel like but I think it's for the best that he's gone, although it does suck that he went through all of this to get the same placement a second time.
From here on out, the only person I put my trust is 100% is Zack, then Tyler and then Luke, which is kind of surprising. But Luke seemed kinda sketchy this round with his connection with Logan so I'll be keeping my eye on him.
I'm nervous about this round since both tribes are going to tribal, but hopefully I'll be good no matter what as Matterhorn still has the advantage on the tribe, and Tyler and Max are the minority. The ideal situation is that someone other than Max wins immunity and then we can take them out because I think it's about time that we end the feud between Zack and Max, and that isn't gonna be done by taking out Zack, at least not on my watch!

UGHHH I am so upset. So Logan was voted out and that is a huge blow for not only my game but for Nick and Ashley Sarah's games as well. Now that he's gone, we have to get a majority some other way. The only way we can do that is if we make sure that Ian is on our side so we can blindside Luke, Tyler, Zack, and Abel. My tribe has to stick together and I'm assuming that Max will be voted out of that tribe bc of the friend group. That is kinda good for me though. HOLY CRAP I JSUT CAME UP WITH SOMETHIGN WHILE TYPING THIS. WHAT IF WE BLINDSIDE BEN? COULD YOU IMAGINE THE CHAOS? THIS WOULD BREAK THE ABEL/BEN FRIENDSHIP F2 AND WOULD GIVE US NUMBERS IN CASE BEN FLIPPED ON US AT THE MERGE. y'all this is my story arch or my elimination episode. i'm hoping it's not the latter of the two. anyways. I came into this game wanting to work with Luke. After tonight? I love you luke but you can fucking choke for what you did to logan. logan deserves so much better and now I'm coming for you. I will not stop until you and your alliance is taken out by none other than THE dom from original Monte Rosa. You can kiss my Puerto Rican ass luke. love you as a person tho you're actually super sweet but you pissed me off. anyways good night america and stay shook canada.

Voting Logan out last tribal was so tough because he's one of my best friends and it sucks so bad but like I said in my voting confessional, it was going to happen at some point. Coming into the double tribal, we really need to do our best to make sure that Max doesn't win individual immunity because he's next on the list to go. If he does win immunity? I have no idea what might happen. I called with Tyler and we talked it through and said that we could probably vote for Abel or Zack but to prevent a tie, I might have to use my vote negator to ensure that rocks aren't pulled and one of us goes home. Tyler and I made a pact to go to the end and we plan on doing that but it's gonna be tough. Looking at a potential merge after these two tribal councils, I predict that the two people that leave in the double will because jury members 1 and 2 but I'm not sure. Merge is going to be difficult with there only being 4 original Matterhorn members (3 if Max wins immunity) so Tyler said he'd protect me as best he can but Tyler doesn't know that I'm actually close with some people over there so I should be okay.

Double tribal and someone will be immune from each tribe!!!! I'm so nervous!!! It would be nice to actually win something for a change. These challenges seem to be either not my greatest or I just don't have time like people here seem to.

EPISODE 9
We were all ready for a merge and to be up 8-4, but SURPRISE! It was a double muthafuckin' tribal. Yikes. The good news was that if I were to survive the double-elimination, I would make it to the top 10 and officially surpass my Tumblr Survivor: Myanmar placement.
Logan was bounced from the other tribe and that came as a MAJOR shock because Tyler and Max were (seemingly) brand new to the OG Matterhorn 4 and furthermore, they had a history of working with Logan on the Trent, Daisy, and Lily votes as far as I knew. And Max is lacking in the possessing a personality department, so I really thought they'd all just be bored do death by them and vote them off. Fortunately, Tyler stuck around and I hope that Tyler manages to survive this double tribal as well.
I discussed Logan's elimination with Nick. Tyler warned me how close the two of them (and Dom as well), so I figured I could get some loyalty points from Nick by eulogizing Logan and bemoaning his tragic loss and how detrimental it is to my game and blah blah blah--we had a good talk, Nick's a really cool dude, and I'm going to need him on my side going forward.
This double tribal does not bode well for me. I'm safe. No one is coming after me. But that's because I'm aligned with everyone (without even trying). It's 100% Parvati's "I'm in such a hot pickle!" situation. Ashley and Ian think that I'm with them (and I am). Dom, Nick, and Benjamin think I'm with them (I'm really with just Dom as far as I'm concerned, but that could change). My ultimate goal is to find a way to get rid of either Benjamin or perhaps Ian this round, preferably the former so as not to sketch out Tyler if he survives this round.
I chatted up Dom first and he took the words right out of my mouth--Ian is sketchy, but Benjamin is a major flight risk going forward. Ben resolved to talk to Nick. I offered to talk to Ashley and she could potentially talk to Ian. We both want the same thing. We both want this vote to be unanimous so that there are no apparent cracks going into a merge at 10 with 4 OG Matterhorns still kicking. That's dangerous territory. When one is in the majority, they need that family as happy and carefree as possible. A 4-2 or 3-3 could ruin lives here. No, thank you. Upon talking with Ashley and Ian, they agreed.
The immunity challenge was finding cows. Really, this was going to come down to who had the most free time available to them and who was the most willing to give up that free time. The answer in this case was Ian (but the real story is--Jesus Christ, Zack! Several thousand cows! I feel like you were safe no matter what and you just put that time in to show...how big of a threat you are? I found that strange) and Ian's safety is a best case scenario for me. The two names swirling around the tribe were Ben for potential connections to the other side and Ian for being a wet blanket in terms of strategy.
Let me take this opportunity while discussing Ian to say that he's been a MAJOR disappointment. Early in the game, he was really sweet and genuine and I loved the guy, but the second we had our first tribal council looming, he became this enigma. He suddenly has no opinions. Talking strategy to him has been very difficult because he brings nothing to the table. Part of me figures that this is because Ian doesn't want any information to come back around and bite him in the ass, but I feel like he's going about it wrong. He's coming across to several people on our tribe as very noncommittal and shifty. When I ask him how he feels about the vote or what he thinks our best move is, he talks in riddles and blah statements and not only is it boring, it's not helpful at all. It's like I'm talking to a dog. I feel like I'm addressing him with clarity and all he hears "Blah Blah Blah, Ginger." Honestly, if Ian hadn't won immunity, I'd have been very tempted to get rid of him this round.
Ian's immunity put Dom and I in a clear driver's seat with Ben's elimination in our sights. We were fine. Ashley was fine. Ian was Ian (but will go along with Ashley and me). Ben thinks everything's hunky dory and Ashley is our only option and such--cool, cool, cool. Then there was Nick. And Dom was telling me Nick is on board because I'm on board, but Nick seemed VERY apprehensive when I spoke to him. Nick clearly wants to vote off Ashley, but is having difficulty with pulling the trigger because he knows voting off Benjamin is best for his game. The whole exchange between Nick and I was so weird because he and Dom were both telling me different things about Nick's perspective at the same time. It was terrifyingly unsettling.
And then I fuck up. Dom & Ben are similar names to me insofar as they're one syllable and three letters and in conversations with both Nick and Dom, I said "Yeah we're all set to vote for Dom" or something like that when I definitely meant "Ben." Oh my God! Such a terrible lapse in language. This is why one shouldn't drink and scheme. The names all start to get loose. Fortunately, I think Nick and Dom believed me (it's the truth, I swear), but holy shit if I were to get voted off just because I did the whole "I Ross take thee Rachel--Emily!" thing. I'm the worst.
New future plan--find some way to eliminate both Ian and Nick while keeping the sane ones, Ashley and Dom happy. Let's make that happen, okay?

So Zack wins individual immunity... *inserts Katya rolling her eyes losing to Alaska in a lip sync for the second time.gif*

Wow! I won immunity so I'm guaranteed F10 wohoo! Honestly if I stayed home yesterday instead of going to the mall I may have even reached the 2k mark alongside Zack. But nah I wasn't gonna waste my last few days of summer vacation finding some damn cow. As Bart Simpson said "Don't have a cow man."
Damn Tyler came in second now I'm so worried for him. This double tribal council guarantees 2 OG Monte Rosa going because over here on Matterhorn we're all OG Monte Rosa and on Monte Rosa the 4 OG Matterhorn will obviously stick together.
Now hosts, you know I love all you and all but for this round I hate you all because we all like each other on our tribe and we have to vote someone out. :( Ugh, can we just all eat some nightlock berries and rebel against these evil hosts.
So far according to Nick, Ben and Ashley's name has been thrown and I'm not gonna let Ashley go, not on my watch! The H4rmony alliance must survive this tribal and my tribe needs to have a united vote so no one is alienated and flips on us.

hiiii!!!! long time no talk!! idek where to begin tbh. so i had like 2 tribals off bc my tribe won immunity?? i was shook bc that was a new feeling in this game to like.. have off and just relax and not worry! but last night, we had a tribal! and logan? went home. that's exactly what i wanted. lemme explain.
i told logan i want max out. (i mean.. i do but i'm not dumb enough to let logan get further then he has already.) so i told logan i'd vote with him, which i did. but i made sure i still had the votes to get logan out. i can't have logan, nick & dom make merge together. i jusy can't, they would be untouchable. but i want logan to think i had nothing to do with his blindside because come merge, i don't want nick & dom coming after me for plotting logan's demise. and it worked. logan believes that i had nothing to do woth his blindside and that it was all luke. so sorry luke, but dom & nick can come after you while i sit back and enjoy my motherfuckin sprite.
SO! this week both tribes are going to tribal. i won immunity so i'm good. (btw my score... i really fucking found over 2,000 cows...) but i want and need max gone now. son of a bitch voted against me last tribal and it openly plotting against me and i don't need someone like that in the merge. so, if i get what i want like usual, max will go. todaloo hoe!

Okay so I hope this vote goes smoothly. Ben thinks that the vote is for Ashley tonight. Little does he know, my little gremlins and I are flipping the script. or so i thought until brett fucked up by saying my name instead of ben's. im still kinda confused as to why that happened but oh well. i love ben so much but like he's going to win the game if no one takes him out lmao. voting ben out is going to screw us all over when we merge though. the other tribe's friend group is like so close with ben (unless abel is voted out tonight idk i could be reading the other tribe completely wrong) I'm hoping that either Luke, Zack, Jev, or Abel go home tonight because we need numbers going into the merge. Ben is too scary to keep around because of the fact that he'd flip to Abel's side. We need to get Abel out as soon as possible because he literally has a winner's edit. He's gone to 7 tribals and has gotten votes at most of them. He needs to go as soon as possible so someone else has a shot at winning.

Lmao Zack found like 2000 cows fucking loser

I'm so nervous, we've all put votes on Max but now I'm scared in case he pulls out an idol and he's the sole vote for me and I leave. He can't vote Zack, so I'm probably next best.
I either beat my previous placement tonight or I do worse than I did last time around, so there's a lot at stake for me personally.

SCD Week 5 Thoughts
I’M SO SORRY I HAVEN’T DONE MY USUAL STRICTLY POSTS THIS WEEK it’s been crazy with NogiMyu 2019 and Sulli and ITT being at 6 fucking 30 so it’s more difficult for me to catch it but I AM HERE TO JUDGE NOW. Also love Alfonso haha omg I need to watch Fresh Prince.
Kelvin and Oti - It wasn’t absolutely smooth but it was still AMAZING. He really gets in the spirit of each dance and he nailed the footwork. He still needs a bit more movement in his shoulders which will go through to his arms and make that all look a bit cleaner but I’m certainly not disappointed with him at all.
David and Nadiya - Oh poor David latin’s really not good for him is it XD. Okay, I UNDERSTAND THE JIVE IS HARD FOR TALL PEOPLE. But sheesh he looked like a deer in headlights. Something I noticed a lot here is that he doesn’t extend his arm when he puts it out, idk if he’s worried about hitting the ceiling or someone in the face or what. He lost timing and it seemed more like a lazy Irish jig at times than jive kicks. I haven’t spoiled the result for myself but I have an odd feeling I’m gonna be seeing this dance again.
Catherine and Johannes - It wasn’t the worst Tango I’ve seen XD. Cath’s frame bothers me though, her “Tango hand” needs flattening so it looks sharper and she looked like she was being a bit lazy with her frame towards the end. Footwork was pretty good, I’d just like the whole thing to be a bit sharper and bit more fiery. Kinda like Sailor Mars XD.
Karim and Amy - HACKEEEEEEEER fuck Hacker the Dog was my CHILDHOOD he used to introduce Horrible Histories XD. Aside from the sheer nostalgia this dance was really good!! Karim’s footwork was amazing, he had nice Salsa hips and he kept up with the energy of the dance SO well. His tricks were amazing, he made it look effortless. Not quite perfect however, I felt his arms could look a bit stiff and sort of away from his body sometimes, but other than that absolutely brilliant!!
( @missemperor ) Michelle and Giovanni - I have to say Michelle gets the vibe of her dances REALLY well. Anyway I saw nothing technically wrong with this dance, she had a fairly straight standing leg and her footwork seemed pretty nice. I think she needs a lot more flow in her body though, all her movements need to come from her core so she can extend every part of her limb to create that flow through her body.
Emma and Anton - I really have to applaud Anton’s choreo here it was SUCH a creative and different Paso I loved it XD. And I think Emma did pretty well with it! She still looks a little tense, she needs to relax a bit more so she’ll loosen up and be able to add sharp dynamics that suit a Paso Doble. The fact she missed a couple of days of training unfortunately does show (bloody Eastenders it’s so depressing anyway why bother XD) but honestly I don’t think it was so bad!
Alex and Neil - I will admit, this is Alex’s best dance so far. AND, she did pretty well. I’M STILL NOT IMPRESSED THOUGH. Yes for about half of it she did really well and she did the moves right with a decent energy, but for the other half she looked a bit lazy. She needs more dynamics and to extend her limbs more especially in lifts. The whole thing also didn’t really have the vibe of a Charleston? It was more dapper than cheeky, but that could be on Neil’s part, OR the song choice.
V.Emma and Aljaz - HER FRAME DOESN’T LOOK LIKE A MORTAL KOMBAT CORPSE ANYMORE WOOHOO. This was also V.Emma’s best dance so far! Her frame was nice, she got the footwork nice and her flow was decent. All I’d say is she needs to loosen up just a tiny bit more, but other than that it was amazing!!
Mike and Katya - oh god do I really have to watch this again K Katya’s choreo has been very odd this year and this time I think I can definitely blame the song choice cos SHIT THAT WAS THE WEIRDEST THING I’VE EVER SEEN. I don’t even know what to say about Mike’s actual Samba cos I’m so taken aback by whatever it was that I just watched. I think the judges explained it pretty well so I’ll just... move on... for the sanity of everyone.
Will and Janette - FOR ONCE I LIKE A CONTEMPORARY DANCE WHAT?? Will didn’t make it annoying yay XD. K this made everyone cry fuck Alfonso was going Shirley was going a bit Motsi LOST IT I feel like if I cried at sad things I would cry at this?? ANYWAY ENOUGH ABOUT ME BEING HEARTLESS Will executed this dance SO well and everything in the choreo that was showing his journey was so clear so well done Janette XD. It was just great, idk what else to say cos it explains itself really.
Chris and Karen - Oh my lovely Chris ALWAYS makes his dances enjoyable he has such an energy I love hiiiiiim <3. He was technically correct, he kept up with the precise timing of the Quickstep really well. But as Craig said it was definitely performance aspects he needs to work on, I think he needs a bit more control of his body in these fast dances so he doesn’t look quite so much like a child (idk why that’s what comes into my head) but I still as always enjoyed him!!
Saffron and AJ - Wahay she didn’t completely annoy me this time XD. Her flow and body movement has improved so much now, she seems to be pushing her shoulders back a bit and she’s moving her arms more when she puts them out. The footwork part was great and her frame was pretty nice, out of hold with the canes she could seem a bit out of time bit still pretty good. Her facial expressions still annoy me though, she didn’t look awkward but sometimes she seemed to lose her character a bit and became “awkward I’m a YouTuber Saffron” for a few moments. But overall certainly one of her better, if not her best dance.
Okay, favourite dances were... Karim and Amy, Emma and Anton, V.Emma and Aljaz, Will and Janette and Chris and Karen (as always). Least favourite probably Mike and Katya. Am I saying the same people every time?? Idk XD. Overall a pretty nice show!
