“What if I want to fold the laundry?” 

Merlin had incredulously asked Arthur one warm afternoon, when they were lounging in Arthur’s chambers, catching him up on the details of a new peace treaty, and Merlin had absentmindedly started to fold up the laundry as they spoke. 

They had only been married for a little over a year, and Merlin court sorcerer for even longer than that. His memories of his servanthood are nothing but a faint memory he looks back on with mirth, and a twinge of longsuffering. 

But not for Arthur. Those days are rife with embarrassment. Every time a memory casually floats past his mind - of dumping buckets on Merlin’s head or throwing something at him - a shudder of shame courses through him, and he pauses what he’s doing to bury his face in his hands, muffling a groan. All those years of treating his beautiful, angelic, powerful lover as nothing more than a servant. It’s more than he can stomach. Sure, he didn’t know the truth about him, but that doesn’t change the fact that he wishes he did. 

It’s why he never thinks about it, and why when Merlin starts to fold up the laundry, panic surges through Arthur, and he leaps from the desk, rushing to snatch the laundry from his husband’s hands. “You don’t need to do that-!” he splutters, handing it off to a passing George. 

Merlin is caught off guard, his now empty hands lingering in the air. “What if I want to fold the laundry?” he protested. 

“It’s not your job.” 

“But-” He wants to. Merlin doesn’t look back on those days with shame and embarrassment. Arthur may have been a clotpole at the time, but he knew it was only because he didn’t know. It was a part of his life, and doesn’t regret a thing. And he never minded the work. It took his mind off things, gave him something to do when destiny was getting too heavy. More than that, he liked taking care of Arthur, making sure he was safe and dressed. He had done it for so long that it just seemed natural; like a love language. An “I love you” woven into every tying of shirt laces. So he can’t understand why Arthur won’t let him do it now. “Surely even a court sorcerer can do some chores every now and then?” he protested lightly. 

“No.”

Merlin’s brows furrowed, but he dropped the subject. No use arguing over it. He made a mental note to ask him about it one of these days, but not today.

Hello! It’s been forever since I posted but I got some new cats merch for Christmas and updated my shelf!! Thought it would be fun to post!

I am also going to explain everything here LOL So!

For the backdrop I am using a 1982 vinyl of the original London cast recording!

The music box was made to celebrate the 7000th performance of the Shiki production from 2008 I believe! It plays Skimbleshanks!

The Victoria statue is from Shiki production specifically the Tokyo run and I forgot to check but she’s from sometime between 2004-2009.

The stuffed animal I got at a show a few years ago!

The two dolls in the front are unofficial but I thought they were super cute!

The moon and little cats were just for fun and to fill space

And you might notice something out of place here…. The carousel horse!!! It is in no way actual cats merch but it’s a music box I found in a thrift store that happened to play memory! So I thought I’d add it just for fun! :3

I will update when there is more and there WILL be more haha

The 7000th Post.

Today is Christmas Eve. I have over 3800 followers. This is my 7000th post. None of this will apply this time will next year.

I will not be posting a Christmas Eve post.

I will not be issuing well wishes to over 3800 followers. I will not reach 8000 posts. And I'm good with all of this. The Killing Eve fandom is small and mighty, but let's keep it a buck, okay? It's smaller than it is mighty and I'm okay with it.

This fandom should burn brightly before it burns out and I would prefer it does so than linger and hang on long past its sell-by date. Killing Eve was a moment, not a movement, so this Christmas/Hannukah/Kwanzaa or whatever way you commemorate this time of the year, let's just enjoy it for what it was. A bright and shining star of a show that never delivered on the promise of its first season but still gave us more memorable moments than forgettable ones. Happy Holidays. We'll always have the good moments of Killing Eve and they vastly outnumbered the bad ones. It was less than what we wanted but more than we could have expected. As far as legacies go, it's not the best, but far from the worst. I appreciate every last one of you beloved freaks for coming along with me on this unexpected journey. We're almost done.
