When I see or hear someone saying Spirited Away and Into the Spiderverse are the greatest animated films ever, I will just throw their opinion straight into the trash. Tell me you haven't watched anything older than 1989 since you were around 7, and you think animation, outside of anime, is for children without telling me. Calling it there. Honestly, if you claim Ghibli movies are better overall than Disney, I know you're just a pretentious noop weeb that hasn't seen Bambi or Beauty and the Beast in 20 years

"Are you breaking up with me over the phone? While I'm on my way to your parents' house? Are you stupid or what?" With each sentence, Y/N's voice grew louder.
"Y/N, I'm really sorry. But…"
"But my ass! Don’t you have any common sense?"
She could hear her boyfriend sigh, and she sighed four times louder than him.
"You are too… cold-hearted for me," he finally said from the other end of the line.
Y/N stifled an exclamation. Cold-hearted? How could she be if she was an actress? She was the warmest person he had known.
"You're always focused on your job and yourself, I need someone…"
"Idiot!" Y/N interrupted him. "Just say you don’t have enough self-love to date an independent woman. You worthless piece of shit."
She hung up after her sentence, not wanting to hear her ex-boyfriend's response. She parked the car and ran her hands over her face. She looked at herself in the little mirror of her car, touching up her lipstick and reassuring herself that she was a good person worthy of love.
She got out of her car and went directly to the bookstore in front of her. She still had quite a few books in her apartment to read, but she didn’t mind. It was her third breakup in four months, and she was starting to wonder if she really was the problem, and the only thing that could distract her from that was spending money she didn't have.
She began to pile books on her arms, and by the fifth manuscript, she started to wobble.
"Do you need help?"
Y/N blinked and peeked her head out from the stack of books, meeting a blonde with a very un-London-like accent and skinny jeans who looked like anything but someone who worked in a bookstore. She didn't know that strangers were now offering help out there.
"No, thanks," She took a step and added a sixth book, enough for all of them to fall. "Shit!"
Y/N felt so embarrassed she even blushed. She knew everyone in the bookstore would be watching her, and that terrified her.
"May I help you now?"
Y/N looked up, having completely forgotten about the presence of the stranger, who was looking at her with a kind smile.
"If you insist…" She smiled a little while rolling her eyes, which made him smile too.
They picked up the books together, which were a bunch of rom-coms. For a moment she thought he would judge her choices, but he didn’t make any gesture.
"I'm Max, by the way"
Y/N blinked. She had no idea what was happening, it seemed totally unreal that a stranger would help her pick up her books and suddenly introduce himself.
"Do you like Sally Rooney?" he asked, holding the last book she'd picked.
Y/N realized that this guy wanted to keep a trivial conversation with her, like those you have in nightclub bathrooms with girls. But this time was a bookstore, not a library. And not a girl, but a Max.
"I’ve never read her, but I saw Normal People, the series, and I was left wanting more," she explained, with a shy smile. "Y/N, by the way."
"Nice to meet you," he showed her a gorgeous smile. "I read the book, I haven’t had time to watch the series yet."
"Oh, it's really good,"
The conversation flowed too easily. She wasn’t used to talking so normally with someone she had just met a few minutes ago and moreover without it being awkward, but that was how it was. Y/N told him about the books she planned to buy and the one she was reading now.
"Excuse me, we're going to close," an employee informed them. In London, shops always closed in the mid-afternoon, for lunch, and although Y/N had arrived around eleven-thirty, the clock was almost striking one. "Are you taking the books?"
"Sure, yes," said Y/N at once and turned to Max. "Hold on a sec."
Max waved his hand, telling her not to worry, that he would wait. She paid for the books and quickly returned to Max.
"Do you have plans for this afternoon?" Max asked directly. Y/N loved the confidence in his voice.
"No, I don’t,"
"Can I invite you to lunch?"
"I'd love that,"
Y/N went to leave the bag of books in her car and she and Max walked to a nearby restaurant, continuing their conversation. It still seemed extremely surreal to her, in what universe does she break up with her boyfriend and moments later meet the nicest guy she had ever known?
"What do you do?" Max asked, once they were seated in the restaurant.
"I'm an actress," she pursed her lips. She was still in the phase where it was hard for her to admit she worked in that field.
"I'm not much into movies," Max commented, scrunching his nose.
"Great because I do theater,"
"Really?" he leaned back in his chair, impressed. "I don’t frequent the theater either, to be honest."
They both laughed softly and Y/N sipped her drink. "And you?"
"I work with cars,"
Y/N furrowed her brow, waiting for him to specify a bit more. "In a repair shop or how?"
That caused a small laugh from Max, leaving Y/N even more confused.
"Yes, exactly. In a repair shop," he continued with a wide smile.
"Well, if you like cars, there's some Prix thing here this weekend. There are tourists everywhere, it's terrible," she complained, rolling her eyes a bit.
Max gave her a goofy smile. That was perfect. Simply perfect.
"Really?" he arched his eyebrows slightly. "I had no idea."
"They do it every year. A silly thing," Y/N shrugged, letting the topic pass.
They continued talking for a long time about how Y/N once almost knocked down the shelves in a bookstore.
"Just like in the movies!" Max said, laughing.
She nodded, also laughing. "I swear things like a character in a tragicomedy happen to me."
They continued laughing for a while, then Max squinted a bit, resting his head on the palms of his hands. "And don’t you think it’s very movie-like that someone picks up your books for you?"
Y/N looked around, with sudden terror. "Where are the cameras, Max?"
He threw his head back laughing with a soft scrunch in his nose. The sound of his laugh felt really warm for Y/N.
"I hope nowhere," Max was right. Too good to be true. Too good to happen to her. Her look darkened a bit, and Max noticed it quickly. "Something wrong?"
She looked up and shook her head a little. "It's just… Is this weird?"
"I don’t think so, unless you want to make it weird. I’m pretty good at that,"
Max got a small smile from her.
"It's just that I’m used to…” Y/N thought about that sentence. “To things like this not happening to me. I haven’t been doing too well in love this past year,"
"Oh, me neither," Max didn’t mention the part about being a famous person and everyone wanting to be with him out of pure interest and not because they really liked him. "It's complicated."
"Quite," she pursed her lips. "Anyway… I have a performance at a theater in Soho on Thursday, you could come by. If you want, of course."
Max bit his lip; he had his first free practice that day and likely several meetings and driver duties.
"Oh, I'd love to. What time?"
Tumblr media
They exchanged phones after the meal, which dragged on quite a bit, so that Y/N could send Max the location of the theater. And to exchange several messages throughout the day. They didn't see each other again until the day of the performance, but in that time, they had written dozens of messages. Y/N would tell Max about the series or movie she had watched that afternoon and recommended that he watch it, even though it was more than likely that Max hadn't turned on a TV in months.
Thursday arrived, and Max managed to sneak away from a meeting, arriving just in time for the play.
Y/N was nervous, and her co-star wasn't helping.
"Y/N!" Her co-star approached practically running. "I just heard that a famous driver is watching the play."
"Really?" She didn't care too much. She had been without news from Max for hours.
Luckily, he appeared at the door with a kind smile and a bouquet of roses. "Hi,"
Y/N flashed a smile and went up to him, instinctively wanting to hug him. Max, as if it were the most natural thing in the world, left a short kiss on her lips. She instantly blushed.
"Hello," Y/N greeted, with a silly smile. "Gorgeous flowers."
Max looked at her co-star, who was completely astonished.
"Lily, are you okay?" questioned Y/N, still hugging Max.
"Why didn't you tell me you were dating a famous driver?"
Y/N turned to Max instantly.
"What do you mean, 'famous driver'?"
Max pursed his lips slightly. "Aren't you going to call her out on the 'dating' thing?"
Y/N paused for a moment, trying not to laugh at what Max had said.
"Y/N, this is Max Verstappen. The Formula 1 driver!"
She lifted her chin and looked at Max again. "Formula 1 driver?"
Max scratched his neck.
"I think so…"
Y/N paused again for a moment. "And you let me mock your career just like that?"
"It's because you're strangely nice, what can I do," Max shrugged, causing Y/N to laugh.
"Well, I'm not one to deny it," she smiled a bit, then kissed Max's lips a second time. She placed a finger on his chest. "Though we're not dating, huh. We need to have a second date before we throw it all in for each other,"
Max burst out laughing. "Like they do in the movies?"
"Absolutely."

pairing: ethan landry x all!reader
warnings: mentions of porn, sex positions, masturbation, edging, praise, degradation and a spit kink.
SFW
this man is a GIANT like he’s six foot, beefy, and just large ;) but no fr every piece of clothing he borrows you like hoodies, flannels etc. literally drowns you because they’re so big
ethan isn’t a big social media person, he only has an instagram because it’s 2023 everyone has one, but like he doesn’t post and is barely following anyone.
some apps he definitely has:
you made him get tiktok so you could send vids to him.
he had snapchat but he barely used it. however you’ve had streaks for a while now.
has twitter for whatever people have twitter for and the porn sometimes.
his most used app is safari 😶
has letterboxd, reddit and 8 ball pool.
is a romance guy, but he’s not open about it. he’s very good at acting sweet and sweeping you off your feet. the shy, nerdy, geek act works very well.
loves the rain. especially at night in the dark, sometimes he can’t sleep but he’ll hear the rain and it makes him feel extra warm in his bed.
smells like mint. he either literally smells like mint, fresh gum or just straight cologne.
his room is his sanctuary. he feels safe and comfortable in there, surrounded by all his things, and as you begin to hang around in his room more, your scent stays, especially onto his bedding and sheets and he’ll literally just come home and face plant into his sheets and smell you.
isn’t a big massive music listener, but he does listen to multiple genres. he likes to listen to what others are listening to around him. he doesn’t always like the music chad listens too, but he does like the old school r&b he plays.
can’t cook for shit. the boys’ place is just full of snacks. this boy loves cheetos. will love you forever if you bring him cooked meals.
big horror movie fan. but has watched movies like the notebook and titanic and teared up and even laughed when you made him watch mean girls.
NSFW
very sensitive nipples 😭 (don’t ask)
is a switch, doesn’t necessarily like to be submissive but he just likes it where you share control, but he can be dominant at times
doggy is his favourite position
doesn’t actually masturbate a whole lot, probably like once a week
edges himself when he does masturbate
very proud of his physique, especially his arms, hands and stomach
very vocal in bed, i’m taking whines, moans, groans, also big dirty talker, praise and degradation !
not overly kinky, has certain specific possibly common kinks but not any weird ones or a lot
big on aftercare ! for himself and you, sometimes he wants to hold you but sometimes he wants you to hold him.
loves kissing so muchhh, there’s nothing more intimate for him, possibly has a spit kink too

I love to headcanon the 2012 boys' little quirks, and I've always been obsessed with giving Raph and Donnie some twin energy by finding or giving them personality traits or quirks they have in common.
Like they're both obviously short tempered but I like to headcanon that Raph is also really good at math (obvs not on Donnie's level but high above average), and that Donnie is also a talented artist, he just prefers to use his skills making technical drawings of his blue prints. And that they both stick their tongues out when focusing and that they both bite their nails. Little things like that. I just really love the idea that they're more alike than they think (or want to admit) they just don't have many common interests.
THOSE ARE SOOO MUCH FUN raph being actually good at quickly calculating stuff on his head (even if he doesn't really know much about maths) and the donnie thing is just so real like those little doodles he made when he did that plan board to hang out with april.....
Also I thought about this a while ago but I think Donnie and Raph bond over movies and tv shows and they love to criticize stuff and are always talking while watching tv wich drives Leo crazy specially when they end up spoiling things bc the plot is too predictable. Also Leo is the type of guy to have Letterboxd I think

Jane Schoenbrun and the Screen Trilogy
Director Jane Schoenbrun’s “Screen Trilogy” seems set to define a period that feels deeply personal to those whose adolescence was shaped by the meteoric rise of the internet and the isolating comfort of technology.
Using a cohesive blend of glowing cool-toned hues, long, lingering shots, and scores and soundtracks that perfectly evoke teen ennui and lonely melancholy, Schoenbrun has used the allure of the screen to craft dreamlike meditations on identity, isolation, and transness that leave viewers feeling so seen.
A quick glance at the tumblr tag, letterboxd reviews, or TikTok videos shows one common thread: Thank you, Jane. And it's well-earned from the beginning. (More under the cut)
With the first installment of the Screen Trilogy, Schoenbrun tackles the questioning of identity through fears generated from unrestricted childhood internet access (something that usually gave the millennial generation something we can never unsee). we’re all going to the world’s fair follows Casey, a teen who partakes in the viral World’s Fair Challenge that leads to an ambiguous separation of self that leaves the audience questioning whether Casey was truly losing herself or merely participating in an elaborate, creepypasta-fueled MMORPG. When speaking about the film with The Hollywood Reporter, Schoenbrun says,
“It really resonated and reminded me of something I went looking for online in my own youth, which was an effort to remove myself from my body and my identity and exist in a space where I could express myself creatively, and perhaps even explore myself personally, outside of ‘the real world.’”
Casey mentions at one point that she can feel herself leaving her body, adding to the overarching theme of dysphoria.
This and many other vulnerable moments are shared through video which is really the only way the audience gets to know Casey, a key piece of information when JLB comes into play. Like us, JLB sees Casey expressing a number of concerning symptoms and thoughts. JLB reaches out to Casey, an adult man reaching out to “save” a teenager he knows nothing about. The adolescents of the internet age know this character all too well.
Between the unspoken disquiet of JLB’s “guardianship” and the time spent with Casey out in the barn in the middle of the night watching ASMR videos with her stuffed lemur, Poe, Schoenbrun’s work reaches out to the kids who, like them, found solace on the internet. We found a world that was bigger than our little towns, we found ways to self-soothe (visual stim videos come to mind as the new ASMR), and sometimes we found people like JLB (we basically made Chris Hansen the hero he is- we love Chris Hansen). For the first time, the isolated, sometimes trans or questioning, internet kid in us felt seen.
Schoenbrun slapped us with nostalgia again in 2024’s I Saw the TV Glow, a magenta-saturated amalgamation of teenage ennui and suburban melancholy that pushes through your ribcage, reaching for your heart without you even noticing until 2/3 of the way through, your frantically beating heart is ripped from your chest among screaming tv static and sparks, leaving you silent in the face of wails of unimaginable pain and need.
Soft-spoken 7th grader Owen meets 9th grader Maddy who’s reading the episode guide for The Pink Opaque- a Buffy-style 90s paranormal teen show Owen has only caught glimpses of, but that he’s totally fascinated with. The two watch an episode together, and as Maddy leaves Owen tape after tape to watch on his own, the pull of The Pink Opaque becomes impossible to ignore.
Schoenbrun is open about it- “I really did live and breathe Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I cared about Buffy more than I cared about my real life”. The same was true for a lot of us. Millennial kids weren’t quite the latchkey kids of the 80s but also weren’t yet the iPad kids of the late 00s. Parents were still learning how to parent and were either too controlling (like Owen’s parents) or too absent (like Maddy’s). Piggybacking on the theme of identity from world’s fair, the kids that didn’t see themselves reflected in popular media or the cliques at school would become masters of escapism, using books, movies, or TV shows like Buffy (it was Charmed for me) to create an inner world where they felt safe, wanted, seen.
Where world’s fair is about the loss and search for identity, I Saw the TV Glow tackles the question of “what next?” What do you do when you know time isn’t moving right, that life isn’t supposed to feel like this? When you learn exactly how to fix it but it sounds absolutely terrifying and insane?
Maddy has no hesitation. “I’m getting out of this town…I’ll die if I stay here. I don’t know how or when exactly, but I know it’s true.” Owen, like Isabel in The Pink Opaque, Maddy says, is afraid of what’s inside him. In Variety, Schoenbrun comments on their differences.
“What we experience through Maddy is this ultimate self-liberation: you have to destroy yourself totally in order to be reborn as who you really are. … Maddy knows that there’s somewhere where she can be full and it’s not worth staying in this place.”
The film encloses a number of deeply disturbing, viscerally upsetting scenes in monologues that connect the audience with feelings of dysphoria, of the disjointed way trans people experience time, and the fear of that time running out in conjunction with the fear of the future. Like world’s fair, the conclusion is ambiguous, but more hopeful in its way. It acknowledges the pain, the fear, the sheer exhaustion of transitioning, but proves it as a method of survival, and reassures the audience, “there is still time”, before leaving them with a cut to pink static where they can cry it out to some Frances Quinlan.
Not too much is known about their third installment, Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma, but Schoenbrun explains that it both pays homage to and critiques the lineage of trans and queer villains as sexual deviants. The New Yorker sums it up as follows:
“[Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma] follows a queer filmmaker hired to direct a new installment of a long-running slasher franchise. The director fixates on the prospect of casting the “final girl” from the original movie, and the two women descend into a frenzy of psychosexual mania.”
Slated to be gorier and funnier (thank God) than the previous installments, Schoenbrun is now turning to the aftermath of transition and the reclaiming of identity through sex, an important and often overlooked facet of transness. They’ve also sold a book, Public Access Afterworld, originally meant to be a TV show but now taken down in literary form. Schoenbrun hopes it will rival franchises like Sandman or Lord of the Rings in its scope, finally giving trans media an epic of its own.
All this fan can say is I can’t wait.

Rules of Engagement
I am here to bring myself closer to the people in order to shape my revolution, and generally continue to heal from the trauma that is my life.
I'm willing to talk about/RP pretty much anything: konoha, its citizens, the ninja world, the non-ninja world, my family, history, furries, whatever. Keeping in mind I'm not trying to be overly serious, and almost all of my posts will be for the sake of humour (that doesn't mean there won't be kernels of truth in what I say). You can ask me about my opinion on these things through my ask or on posts. If you want to say something privately to me you can message me, but don't lead in with something like "hi" only and wait for me to respond (I'll ignore it because I'll assume you're a BBW MILF in my area or something).
I'm not going to talk about anything inflammatory or requires serious thought on greater world topics as I feel that's inappropriate (eg. I won't talk about ongoing wars in specifics). If I see you reblogging my posts in what I feel is an overly antagonistic way, towards myself or others (the most common form of this is I write a post saying I don't like someone, and someone reblogs with "YEAH fuck [female character] she's a [vulgar misogynistic slur] #[female character's name]"), I'll block you. This is meant to be a restorative account to make me and others feel good.
In terms of roleplaying:
I'm okay with interacting with anyone, but if I don't know who you are please forgive me and I'll ask you to introduce yourself
I'm always "in character" even in DMs, it's just easier that way for me
I use emojis and gifs to communicate actions and expressions sometimes, it's just more comfortable for me that way as it's easier for me to communicate visually
If you're someone who should be dead/disappeared/whatever in canon, the feelings I would have towards you will remain as they should. If you want to discuss a storyline on this, let me know.
I know some roleplayers type story-like things with each other (closed RPs? starters?), I won't do that because I just don't have the energy for it. If you wanna go through a certain situation with me just bring it up in a post you tag me in or inbox me and I'll respond!
I talk about sasunaru primarily since this is a canon-ish blog, but I'm open to alternate stories so long as they develop naturally.
A reminder that everything I post is from my perspective and based on my opinion. FYI I see the Naruto manga as a biographical re-telling of certain events (everything until chapter 699), and the anime as an interpretation of the biography (therefore some filler will be true to me). Therefore, any time I present thoughts on these things, they may not always be 100% in line with what's shown-- basically this blog is semi-canon divergent.
Feel free to add to my posts in disagreement but I might not respond. If I annoy you or you consistently take issue with something I say, block me for your own sake. If I said something to upset you and you don't want to block me, you can just tell me and I'll 99% apologize, but 100% address it with respect.
That being said, I'm here to have fun-- that is the best revolution.
ETA 24/04/24: you can follow me on letterboxd if youre interested, i'll follow back and you can send me movie recs or anon hate about my movie opinions in my inbox here, i pretty much watch anything recommended to me but i'll be honest about what i think of it

If you have letterboxd, I have a whole list of 80s movies I've watched and rated if you want to sort through that for movie recs (It's linked in my pinned post), but here's a couple right here and now if you don't. I mainly watch 80s movies so sorry if there's only like one 70s movie on here:
Harold and Maude (1971)
Once Bitten (1985)
Modern Girls (1986)
The Purple Rose of Cairo (1985)
Something Wild (1986)
Fatso (1980)
The Heavenly Kid (1985)
Baby Boom (1987)
Peggy Sue Got Married (1986)
Earth Girls Are Easy (1988)
I tried to exclude the common recs you hear about everywhere (Pretty in Pink, Sixteen candles, etc). Hope you enjoy some of these and that they're what you're looking for! Some might be more romantic or comedic than others; or have other genres thrown in, so don't say I didn't warn you I guess lol.

Max and Y/N had once again achieved a 1-2, it was the third consecutive race they had achieved this result.
Everyone was cheering their names, and then there was Charles. He had managed to finish third because George DNF'd on the last lap and he took his place in the race.
Charles had always felt a mixture of envy and admiration for the Red Bull duo.
Envy for their driving style and tactics to win all the races and admiration for their personalities. Max stood out simply for being himself, calculating and fierce both on and off the track, his blue eyes sent shivers down Charles' spine. Even more so when he saw him without the fireproofs.
Y/N was slighty warmer than him, but still he feared her, with a somewhat rebellious driving style, Y/N had won the championship last year and was fighting for her second. She was much more open than Max and she was the one who humanized the team, separating her person from her race number very well. Most of the time she was Y/N L/N, when she got into the car she was simply the 1. It was impossible not to fall in love with her, from the moment she joined the competition she had become the girl of the paddock, the representative of all women in motorsport, and she wore it with pride. She has collaborated to form the F1 Academy, has financed dozens of girls to make a place for themselves in the sport and now she was forming her own F1 Academy team with Rare Beauty as a collaborator. She was an ambitious, determined, and also beautiful woman, Charles had found it impossible to resist her.
The most surprising thing was how well Max and Y/N got along off the track, they lived relatively close in Monaco and there had been several times when they had been seen having dinner together. Most of the people said they only had common friends, a few said there was something more than friendship.
The chemistry was undeniable, Y/N brought out the best side of Max in interviews and Max knew how to stop Y/N when she talked too much.
Charles knew the podium was going to be uncomfortable, Max and Y/N celebrating their victories and pouring champagne on each other, and Charles just being there, knowing that neither of them cared at all about his P3.
Surprisingly, Y/N approached him and patted him on the shoulder as she congratulated him, but immediately Max once again drew all of Y/N's attention by soaking her with champagne. Charles drank from his bottle as he watched Max half-kneeling and Y/N pouring champagne from her bottle into his mouth.
That scene caused Charles a strange sensation. Seeing Max like that, slightly kneeling with his hair and suit dampened by a mixture of alcohol and sweat. Y/N with the glow of victory in her eyes and her suit adapting to the curves of her body.
There was something so sexual about that scene that it overwhelmed Charles. His attraction to Y/N he had assimilated, with just a couple of words he knew she would be the woman of his dreams. The problem was that when he was with Max that feeling doubled. The idea of not being a spectator anymore and being with both of them made his heart race.
After finishing all the interviews, Y/N approached Charles. "Hey, we're going to get a drink, wanna come?"
Charles blinked. "Me?"
He pointed to himself, surprised by the invitation and interaction. In all those years he had hardly ever spoken to Y/N, except for business matters, which made her even more ethereal.
Y/N laughed in a natural way and brushed her hair away from her face. "Sure. Max and I usually have a drink with whoever comes third, and today it was you." By the way she said it, it seemed like it was already a routine. "So? Do you feel like it?"
"Uh, yes, yes. I'd love to," he nodded, perhaps a bit too eagerly.
"Great!" she said with a smile. Charles was impressed by her constant naturalness. "We'll get dressed up and then see you at the club."
Y/N gave him a squeeze on the shoulder and left the paddock with Max, who had been present throughout the conversation from a prudent distance.
At the after-party - for lack of a better term - there were many people from Red Bull, too many, and Charles felt like an intruder. He locked eyes with Y/N, who gestured to him as soon as she saw him. She was at a table almost in the center of the place with Max, some friends, and Lando Norris. That guy was always everywhere.
"Charles! Come here, come on. What do you want to drink?" exclaimed Y/N.
Charles approached, somewhat impressed by all of this. Y/N made room for him next to her and instead of fist-bumping, she gave him two kisses. Max, on the other hand, stretched his arm over Y/N to greet him and then left his arm around her shoulders, bringing her closer to his chest. Y/N didn't mind.
"P3, huh? That was very good," commented Max.
Y/N groaned immediately. "We always talk about races, let's talk about something interesting."
"Isn't Formula interesting?" Max spoke, tilting his head.
"Not with you," said Y/N.
They all laughed and Max made a face.
Y/N once again focused all her attention on Charles, he noticed how Y/N's heel was circling around his calf.
"What about your love life, Charlie?" she asked, without hesitation.
The nickname caught Charles off guard, and even more so the question. If she was asking, it was because she cared.
Max clicked his tongue, telling him he didn't have to answer.
How was Charles going to explain that every time he had felt some sexual desire it had been because of her and her teammate? "Boring," he ended up saying, with a slight frown.
"Oh, come on!" she exclaimed, almost disappointed. "How can it be boring? You're too handsome for your love life to be boring."
Charles lowered his gaze with a silly smile, noticing that Max hadn't stopped looking at him, as if he too were expectant of the answer.
"Don't listen to her, Charles. She rambles when she's drunk," commented Max, rolling his eyes a bit.
"And you get a thousand times more boring when you drink," Y/N gave Max a pat on the thigh, too close to the crotch for some to think.
Y/N drank from Max's gin and tonic and relaxed against his chest because no one was starting a conversation. She quickly got bored and looked at Max with a pout. "Will you dance with me?"
"No," he replied immediately.
"You asshole," Y/N wasted no time. "Charles?"
Charles looked up from his drink. "Huh?"
"Let's dance," she didn't even ask, she got up and pulled Charles' arm while flipping Max off before heading to the dance floor.
Charles knew she had only pulled him to dance to mess with Max, but that moment was like living a fever dream. The music hardly had any lyrics, it was pure beats on instruments. Y/N pressed her body against his in time with the music, so much so that sometimes it seemed like she was rubbing against him.
"You have beautiful eyes, Charlie," Y/N said, getting close to his ear so much that he could almost hear her saliva. She put an arm over his shoulder and kept dancing.
"Thank you," he replied, not knowing what else to say.
Their faces were getting closer and closer, while both could feel Max's gaze on them. When their noses brushed, it was Y/N who stopped, looking at him for a few seconds. She removed her arm from Charles's shoulder and bit her lip, as if she were nervous.
"Hold on, I have to talk to Max," she declared, before leaving the dance floor, leaving Charles stranded and confused.
He returned to the table, not knowing what had happened, but Max and YN were no longer sitting there. Lando pointed in the direction they had gone. He found them leaning against the door of what seemed to be a private room in the club; for a moment, he thought they were arguing because of the tone of their voices, but as he listened to the conversation, he began to feel chills.
"You like him too," Y/N insisted. "Deny it. Deny that it doesn't turn you on when you see him in the fireproofs."
"Damn, yes. But it doesn't matter, I've already told you he won't want to," Max grumbled, with a distressed expression.
"You don't know that," Y/N clenched her jaw.
"He's very uptight, and insecure."
Those two words echoed in Charles's head. Insecure… he knew he was, but he hadn't realized until now that other people might notice it.
"Max, I really want him," Y/N complained. "Just imagining him watching us fuck already turns me on, imagine with us in bed." She pressed herself against Max's chest, with a grimace.
Charles felt an instant satisfaction knowing that they also fantasized about him, at least he wasn't the only weird one. He thought about the possibilities of joining the conversation, or just letting them know he was there.
"Are you Charles Leclerc? Can we take a photo?"
Before Charles could react, Y/N and Max peeked their faces around the door, her with a little smile and him slightly nervous. It was an awkward moment while the fan took the photo, but when he left, both Max and Y/N were looking at him with crossed arms and feline eyes.
"How long have you been there?" Max questioned, raising his eyebrows. He thought his friendship with Charles was going to become quite awkward after that.
Charles didn't waste time. "I… I want to,"
Max and Y/N looked at each other, with a devilish smile.
"Really?" confirmed Max.
"Yes,"
Max didn't need anything else to pull him into the room and close the door behind them. Surprisingly, Charles and he were the first to kiss while Y/N watched them. Then Y/N attacked Charles's lips at the same time as Max left marks on his girlfriend's neck. Being in the middle of the two was too much for her; having so many hands on her made her messy. Eager for more, she pulled Charles's hand towards her inner thigh. He stopped at that exact moment.
A feeling of guilt, almost shame, overwhelmed him. The other two noticed it and stopped as well. "Is something wrong?" Y/N placed her hand on Charles's thigh, but that only made him stand up as soon as he felt the contact.
"I can't…" Charles didn't finish the sentence. "I better go."

Bullet Point Summary Of My Research (Googling Variations On The Return 2024 Film Review TIFF):
screenings seem to be over (ran 7th-8th september) so probably unless the reviews are coming out slowly we will not get too many more
the general consensus is: Ehhhhhhhh
received a total of two entire stars from the guardian (i say this because there is only 1 review with a star rating thus far) and a c- minus from thefilmstage.com, so do with that what you will. letterboxd doesnt have a numerical rating for it yet but the most common is 3 stars which is not necessarily a bad thing. none of this really matters anyway film is subjective
there is a total of 1 marwan kenzari performance judgement which i have already posted hes largely not mentioned in any of the others sorry everyone. i tried
generally the most popular points to make are: fiennes and binoche are good, slow burner, looks ok, kinda eh as i said above. the fact that it has largely flown under the radar compared to other stuff at tiff is an indicator that nobody but perhaps me is particularly enthusiastic about this one
also there's full frontal nudity in like the first part of the movie
in other news m son of a century is ALSO playing at tiff so i will be keeping an eye on that also (sep 9th, 10th, 11th, likely we will see more reviews of that soon probably hopefully)
i leave you with this line
"The film in question, The Return, serves as an adaptation of the last third of Homer’s Odyssey, where Odysseus (Fiennes) is long past the high-seas adventure part of his journey and rather stuck in a kind of limbo in his homeland of Ithaca; returned but not reclaimed. His queen Penelope (Binoche) is being pressured by followers to pick a new king, while their twink son Telemachus (Charlie Plummer) bides time in the background with daddy issues and insecurity over his long-away path to the throne." (from here)
anyway its coming out december 6th in the us so not too long to wait for all of you
reviews for you to read for yourself and form your own conclusions:

Hi! I want to watch more films and well you are kinda the person to ask! So how do you find the time to watch so many films? How do you come up with what to watch and where/how do you tend to watch them?
And any other tips and tricks?
Oh boy, this is a slightly tricky question? But to start— loving movies is a full-on hobby that I make time for, including researching and learning a lot about film history, meta analysis and other things I have shelves of books about.
For one, I’ve used the tv as background noise while doing other things since roughly middle school— so it’s very common for me to watch a movie during breakfast and dinner, and do multiple movies during days off that I’m working on some kind of project. It’s a whole “if I’m not doing two things at once I can’t pay attention to either” situation. (And when I was doing 45-60 hours a week of drawing homework in college and still could find the pirating websites I can’t use anymore I watched so many movies).
I am very much a horror nerd. And in general, the horror community can be like being part of a club and being able to know director filmographies and intricacies of subgenres is part of that community— and since a lot of the actors and directors and effects people worked together in this kind of weird expanding web it makes exploring the genre kind of like a game (like I like The Thing and oh Rob Bottin worked on The Howling too and learned the craft from Rick Baker who was the first to get an Oscar for special effects makeup while working on An American Werewolf in London that John Landis directed but he also did the vampire movie Innocent Blood like ten years later and—). There’s a reason my Letterboxd watchlist never seems to dip below 600 even watching at least once movie every day.
I use Shudder a lot, but also Prime, Hulu and Tubi, and occasionally there’s stuff free on YouTube. I also hoard a lot of physical media. Since I’ve recently given up on Netflix I’ve been finding bootleg Blu-ray’s on eBay, because relying on internet when I’ve had many years of bad Wi-Fi and also a deep love of special features and commentary means physical media is something important to me (there’s a whole thing about preserving history outside of the internet’s ability to make things disappear but that’s a whole other conversation)
Tumblr media
(This is about 8’x5’)
Like I can have whole long diatribes about movies, because it’s a thing I get really into— I did rope one of my friends into a whole thing explaining the moral and existential concepts in Saw and Hostel II and the way to make PG-13 horror films function successfully and why 2000s horror in relation to American political landscape was Like That for almost an hour yesterday— which is why giving advice for new or casual watchers is tricky for me 😅
Anyway I have no clue if any of that was helpful but good luck!
