"Rodimus is a better Prime because it didn't hurt for him to bond with the Matrix while for Optimus it did" headcanon/theory my beloathed.
One day I'm literally gonna snap and make a whole post addressing why what's wrong bc I'm tired of the inaccuracy and tired of ppl not understanding the Point TM of IDW and its version of the Matrix/Primacy and even more tired of people putting down Optimus in favor of Rodimus by essentially arguing that being unworthy means you deserve to be punished/put in pain bc you just weren't good enough to hold the Symbol of Ultimate Authority
#it's wrong on so many levels both in terms of lore and as well as like what the general themes of idw1 are#it's just a validation contest using the matrix as some magical symbol to decide who's the most special#which is ironically something that was a plot point in exrid/OP. specifically how stupid of an idea that is ldskjflksd#ppl revealing that they havent read anything besides mtmte/ll as usual#like half the reason ppl think optimus is a bad prime and rodimus is a good prime is literally bc like#optimus was written by an author who was specifically trying to deconstruct him (sometimes to the point of absurdity)#and rodimus was written by an author who takes a more optimistic/idealistic approach. and is also better at writing#but also like am i seriously the only person who thinks that that argument is fucked up?????#like 'OP felt pain which means he's unworthy/not a real prime/not a true leader'#ok so you think that there's a hierarchy of moral goodness in which anyone who falls short of that Moral Ideal should suffer#as a sign of their unworthiness?? like does that not sound dystopian as hell to any of you?? why would you WANT the matrix to work like tha#even if the theory were true (which it isn't) why would you view the matrix as a good authoritative moral judge of character#if its idea of 'moral judgement' is to inflict pain on anyone who's supposedly not truly good/worthy#wasn't the entire point of the ending of LL (including rodimus being a good leader) that everyone is worth it?#like rodimus literally said 'you ARE damn well good enough' or something like that#so what? everyone else in the universe tries their best and that's enough but somehow when OP suffers it's like#a sign that he's not actually a good prime/leader?? we're really going with the punitive perspective purely for One Guy??#swear to god ppl are projecting their authority issues onto Optimus the way they shit on him for things they would excuse#if any other character did it#Optimus is uniquely deserving of pain/being marked as unworthy bc idk he was a cop once and that offends my delicate sensibilities#what's even funnier is how much harm was inflicted by rodimus as a captain sheerly due to his stupidity or ego but everyone forgives him#i guess bc as long as the matrix likes him that means he's valid no matter what he actually does as a person#WHICH IS SOMETHING IDW ITSELF ARGUED AGAINST BC A LOT OF THE PRIMES THAT WERE CHOSEN BY THE MATRIX#WERE DICKS AND THE FACT THEY COULD WIELD THE MATRIX DIDN'T MAKE THEM GOOD PEOPLE#like oh my god stop using the matrix as an arbiter of moral authority in idw1 it literally goes against the themes of the story#including the themes that are embodied in rodimus himself#idw op love

I've only ever seen 'you get to kill one person as a baby' alternative history polls, but I think there's a more interesting version so let's play 'change one event in history'! (Go for what you think would do the most good or what would be the most chaotic choice. It's a thought experiment we're not the morals police!)
Very brief (and grossly oversimplified!) explanations under the cut.
unfortunately my education has been very eurocentric and I'm pretty hopeless at the nuances of history pre-19th century; this is as diverse as i could make it (which is not very diverse at all). Please feel free to add in the tags!
1) This assassination set WW1 in motion (triggered/enabled the first declaration of war)
2) Emmanuel de Grouchy was a general in Napoléon's army. Before the Battle of Waterloo he'd been given the order to cut off the Prussian General Blücher, but Blücher had already got to the battlefield so de Grouchy went off on a pointless search with his 40-50k soldiers instead of joining the battle, which many consider a significant reason for Napoléon's defeat.
3) i.e., make trouble after Columbus leaves for America but before he arrives there.
4) Georg Elser attempted to set off a bomb during a Hitler speech at a beer hall. (There were other attempts on Hitler's life both before and after this, I just picked this one). The explosion failed to kill Hitler as he had moved his speech up half an hour and was gone by the time the bomb went off. It killed seven Nazis and a waitress. Elser was arrested, sent to a concentration camp and murdered days before its liberation at the end of the war. This has nothing to do with the question, I just hate that everyone only knows about the Stauffenberg one.
5) This position allowed Stalin to pick functionaries for key positions in the Soviet Union and thus pave his way to becoming Lenin's successor.
6) likely preventing the USA from creating a functional atomic bomb before the end of the war.
7) Günter Schabowski held the famous press conference which communicated the GDR's intention to allow East German citizens to cross into West Germany again without having to apply for government permission. Asked when this would come into effect, Schabowski replied, visibly uncertain, "to my knowledge, that is immediately. Right away". This led to crowds overwhelming the Berlin border crossings. The officers stationed there had received orders to mark the passports of all those crossing with a stamp that would barr them from re-entry into the GDR, but did not uphold this and instead simply opened the barrier as they feared violence would break out. This became the night the Berlin Wall fell.
8) The battle was a huge deal for German propaganda both at the time and later on and made especially Hindenburg a war hero, but I mostly picked it because I figure it'd be easiest to get them both at once during a battle. Both men were central to the decisions the German Empire made in WW1 (to such a degree that people have argued they effectively led the country) and both played a role in Adolf Hitler's rise to power: Ludendorff lent his credibility and fame to Hitler's Munich Beer Hall putsch in 1922, and Hindenburg went on to become the last president of Weimar Germany and appointed Hitler chancellor in 1933.

Me when my brain gives me a trilogy of loosely related nightmares despite waking up for a while in between them, all because I wore the wrong shirt to bed and got too warm: 🫠
#esrah talks#dreams tag#they were fascinating but oh my god what a hassle they were too#general gist was I turned up in this dystopian present where everything was extremely revisionistic and there were invisible cameras#everywhere even in private areas#but in public areas that footage could be used for propaganda footage or arrests or whatever#so I turned up and was being myself so they decided to take me into custody#and try to brainwash me into a good citizen via gaslighting / manipulation#meanwhile I was being recorded for multiple TV shows because I was causing a scandal by even questioning things#like they asked me some question that was too simple to account for everything and so I asked another question to clarify#and this was like a comedy bit on the shows#so eventually I pretended to be a good citizen but sneak around and try to escape as well#they did say there were cameras everywhere but apparently that was not the case since I did some testing#at one point I discovered a conspiracy involving a framed death that hinged upon a cut heel#and at another point I had to wedge myself into some awkward positions to not get spotted#by the third one I was feeling more tactful so I got more stuff done but the first one was a mess and so was the second#oh just remembered the first one involved my family becoming extremely obviously right wing out of nowhere#and were praising various white nationalist/supremacist orgs#and that terrified the fuck out of me so at some point I just started punching people in the face

Hello, my name is Annika Stein. I'm a writer, aspiring, that is. I haven't published anything yet. But I really want to. I've been in a deep depression for years now and only wrote scraps and bits. My flame for writing has been reignited with a simple idea for a new trilogy series. It has given me a new deep burning passion for writing and also just life in general. I'm excited to share it with the world one day and first with anyone who finds this blog. I'll probably make an entire side blog for the series. It's called The Avarice Trilogy. I'm kind of workshopping the name but the Avarice really seems to stick. It's a series about how greed causes humanity's downfall.

my favorite thing about the desc rpc is that when new ppl join they go through the phase of being like “wait ………… hear me out……. the REAL villain is BEAST” to “omg ………hot take……. auradon is a DYSTOPIAN!!!!!!!!!!” to “……..yall so many people would have gotten injured and died during the d2 battle……….” to “the core four actually kind of suck???”
