Noncanonicals Tournament Round 1, Match 2
Tumblr media
Match 2 is between Yennefer of Vengerberg from The Witcher (shizun/mentor: Tissaia de Vries) and Fang Duobing from Mysterious Lotus Casebook (shizun/mentor: Li Xiangyi / Li Lianhua)
Propaganda under the cut! (Warning: Propaganda may include spoilers about the characters and their media)
Yennefer of Vengerberg:
A love/hate relationship where the love and hate are equally strong. Yenn clearly so wanted to fuck Tissaia, and she was so mad about it.
Fang Duobing:
Fang Duobing has most definitely had several fantasies of being dommed by his shifu Li Xiangyi! He is also equally invested in marrying Li Lianhua - travelling the jianghu, going on rooftop moonlit dates, incorporating looking after him forever and ever into his general future plans. This is even before he knows that Li Lianhua and Li Xiangyi are the same person. Oh there are Layers to the shizunfucking. Where's that post about being so devoted to someone that it breaks the pedestal they're put on and comes full circle to loving them for the person they are? (its here: https://www.tumblr.com/difeisheng/733133489565745152/the-core-of-fanghua-is-built-around-fang-duobings) When they finally do get to know each other 10 years later, after Li Xiangyi's identity is found out, Fang Duobing insists on being equals rather than master-and-disciple! Li lianhua is Fang Duobing’s guide in the Jianghu! He leaves his house, dog and the only records of his unique martial arts to Fang Duobing before running away!! Fang Duobing’s most important agenda is to save Li Lianhua from slow death by poison!!! He doesn't care if Li Lianhua keeps leaving him behind and lying to him and is 'at peace' with dying!! They live together. They'll never be equals. They've been equals all along. They're zhiji. They're master and disciple. they're married. They're everything.

formula E drivers and their stethoscopes
@watercolor-hearts and I discussed what stethoscopes each driver would use after they created a list for Formula 1 drivers. then we had the ideas for formula e drivers (+ André and James) so I made a list. Thanks to V for creating the collages!
André Lotterer - Littmann CORE Digital Stethoscope 8572 - High Polish Rainbow, Littmann Cardiology IV Diagnostic Stethoscope: Black & Black - Red Stem.
Tumblr media
He’d want a digital one to save it for later. And the rainbow chest piece is obvious (for the gay in him). Sleek black with a hint of dark red is perfect for our war criminal.
Jev - MDF procardial® titanium adult cardiology stethoscope - cheetah/blackout.
Tumblr media
Like Cheetah the cat.
Mitch Evans - MDF acoustica® stethoscope - white/black.
Tumblr media
When I think of jaguar I think of Mitch. The colours remind me of him.
Nick Cassidy - Littmann Cardiology IV Diagnostic Stethoscope: Hunter Green
Tumblr media
I just looked at it and thought, oh yeah, he’d look good with that.
Maximilian Günther - Littmann Cardiology IV Diagnostic Stethoscope: High Polish Rainbow & Navy Blue - Black Stem, Littmann Classic III Monitoring Stethoscope: Ceil Blue (suggested by V).
Tumblr media
Maserati prince. Rainbow chest piece gives gay vibes.
James Rossiter - MDF MD one® adult stethoscope - white/perla noire, Littmann Cardiology IV Diagnostic Stethoscope: Satin Alabaster Tube
Tumblr media
The vibe. Simple but a little bit posh, sophisticated. He likes the white.
Sam Bird - MDF MD one® epoch® titanium adult stethoscope - orange
Tumblr media
The orange suits him.
Stoffel Vandoorne - MDF procardial® titanium cardiology stethoscope - green/blackout
Tumblr media
It's illegal how good he looks in green.
Robin Frijns - MDF MD one® epoch® titanium adult stethoscope - graffiti/blackout, Littmann Classic III Monitoring Stethoscope: Smoke & Lime Green - Blue Stem
Tumblr media
Given the pokemon obsession I feel like robin would like this one. can also imagine the green to rep Envision.
Edo Mortara - MDF procardial® titanium cardiology stethoscope - pink glitter/rose gold
Tumblr media
Girl dad. I think he would love the pink and would enjoy using it.
Sacha Fenestraz - MDF MD one® epoch® titanium adult stethoscope - sunflower
Tumblr media
A sunny personality that would look great with flowers.
Nyck De Vries - MDF MD one® epoch® titanium adult stethoscope - tie dye
Tumblr media
Sunny personality, a bit of fun away from his on track crimes. He’d look cute with it.
Oliver Rowland - MDF procardial® titanium cardiology stethoscope - white glitter/rose gold
Tumblr media
Another girl dad. Secure enough in his masculinity to own the glitter. I was imagining red glitter, but this is close enough.
António Félix da Costa - Littmann Cardiology IV Diagnostic Stethoscope: Black & Black - Red Stem
Tumblr media
I think he’d like the black with a surprise bit of red. Porsche vibes.
Nico Müller - Littmann Classic III Monitoring Stethoscope: Turquoise
Tumblr media
He looks good with this blue.
Jake Hughes -MDF sprague-x stethoscope - burgundy
Tumblr media
Aston Villa FC vibes.
Sérgio Sette Câmara - Littmann Classic III Monitoring Stethoscope: Grey
Tumblr media
Reminds me of the ERT. Subtle . Sort of quiet but still there.
Jehan Daruvala - Littmann Cardiology IV Diagnostic Stethoscope: Plum
Tumblr media
Immediate thought was blue but I think he’d look good with plum.
Jake Dennis - MDF procardial® titanium cardiology stethoscope - paws
Tumblr media
Jake loves his dog so He’d 100% get a paw print.
Sébastien Buemi - MDF MD one® epoch® titanium adult stethoscope - vulcan - carbon fiber/blackout
Tumblr media
“Its dark, like my soul.”
Pascal Wehrlein - Littmann Master Cardiology Stethoscope: All Black
Tumblr media
Dark and mysterious. Gives me his vibe.
Dan Ticktum - MDF procardial® titanium cardiology stethoscope - poseidon - carbon fiber/blackout
Tumblr media
He'd go for this purely because he thinks it looks cool.
Norman Nato - Littmann Master Cardiology Stethoscope: Burgundy
Tumblr media
He just looks like he'd suit it.
Lucas Di Grassi - Littmann Lightweight II SE Nurses Stethoscope: Black
Tumblr media
I didn’t put much thought into this one lmao. Could imagine him using it.
these are all my personal opinion so there is literally nothing proving this, was just a bit of fun. If you have any other ideas though let me know. Hope you enjoyed! :)

Making my own post, because I don't like that my addition is buried under a readmore on the other one.
Tumblr media
I've seen this post a few times, and I think its core point (don't try to guilt people into doing things) is good and important, but the devil's in the details; a good post can do harm due to its framing. So I want to share an also important correction/addition: No, you cannot shame someone out of being a "bad person" (not a real thing anyway). Shaming people for perceived misbehavior can lead to depression and addictive tendencies toward those behaviors. Shame also drives people right into the arms of radicalization, since they feel ostracized and emotionally wounded, and with particularly malignant behaviors and political ideologies, they're likely to find a group of people who tell them they don't have to feel that way if they just get worse about it.
TL;DR: Guilt and shame are not the same thing. Shame is almost universally counterproductive for positive change. Most importantly, inflicting guilt or shame on someone is never going to be productive; your focus as an outside party trying to convince someone to change (in the rare circumstances where that's a good idea) should be on accountability, empathy and communication, not causing that person to experience specific emotions.
.............
Guilt, which is not interchangeable with shame, has some positive value for getting people to hold themselves accountable (accountability being the actual goal), but it's not something you should be inflicting on people.
If a child does something harmful, then you holding them accountable may cause guilt and the guilt may be productive, but it should not be your goal; the sadness of a child should never be your goal, actually, though it can sometimes be an unfortunate side effect or intermediary step in discipline.
If an adult does something harmful, I understand wanting them to feel guilty about it, but their feelings actually don't matter, morally speaking--what matters is, again, taking accountability, which they can do a lot better without you telling them how to feel.
To illustrate my point: there's an extensive body of research suggesting that shame is an incredibly common linking factor between mental health issues and addiction (Batchelder et al., 2022; Bilevicius et al., 2018; Bilevicius et al., 2019; Matthews, 2019). Going against the grain a bit, Snoek et al. (2021) do argue that shame and guilt can both positively contribute to addiction recovery, but through a clear lens of understanding that unless they're very carefully managed (by clinical professionals, the individuals themselves, and trusted loved ones they voluntarily bring into the process, not by community members with a special interest in pop psychology), then they will make everything worse through a sense of self-punishing.
For a more evocative example: sex criminals are, contrary to popular belief, a very rehabilitatable population with relatively low rates of recidivism. It can work to use guilt--treatment methods centered on avoiding temptation and shutting down the "bad thoughts" have a long history, and they're not completely ineffective. But you know what works better? The good lives model, a model that emphasizes living a good life with all personal needs met, rather than striving to avoid temptation and defining your life around shame and guilt (de Vries Robbé et al., 2015; Prenzler et al., 2023; Sapp & Vaughn, 1991; Ward et al., 2007). In fact, the biggest criticism of the good lives model is that it may not go far enough in enabling offenders to live full and complete lives, since it's often paternalistic and controlling in execution (Glaser, 2010).
You know what doesn't help sex criminals avoid committing sex crimes? Shame. Shame has been well-established to increase impulsivity (Forkus et al., 2023; Sanchez et al., 2019), and impulsivity is one of the biggest risk factors for committed sexual violence in the first place, while self-control and an ability to self-forgive are strong protective factors against it (de Vries Robbé et al., 2015; Efrati et al., 2019).
So again: you cannot "shame someone out of being a bad person", and you certainly can't shame a child out of misbehaving and expect them to grow up healthy, and you really need to resist the urge to try.

Star Trails and Ash Rails: The Ship Part 2
Her pilot was humming to herself when Rei got to the bridge.
“Good mood?”
“Always,” Vri said with a quick smile.
“Got an update for me?” Rei asked, straight to business, looking over the readouts.
“Ship’s in view. Looks like an old prison ship, like I thought. No external damage, but scans are showing some gnarly radiation levels throughout, except for this room,” Vri waved a finger at a small, square room near the top of the ship, “which is weird, but I’ve seen weirder.”
“Any life signs?”
“Rads are too high to get an accurate read. If anyone is alive, they’ve gotta be in there, whatever there is.”
“Warden’s office.” Rei said, matter-of-factly.
Vri raised an eye at her to which Rei shrugged. “Long story. Looks good for a core leak though,” she commed down to Karish and the others, “Boys, Yllis, set up in rad suits, we’ve got a core leak. Karish, you got everything you need to fix it?”
“Depends on what it is, but if I don’t, hopefully their engineering does.”
“Any life signs Dodger?” Dex asked.
“Too much interference to tell. But Dex?”
“Yeah?”
“Warden’s office looks clean.”
“Fuck.” Dex muttered and she heard the distinct sound of a round replicator whirring to life.
“I’ll meet you in the hangar,” Rei cut her comm and looked at Vri. “Keep a good distance, we’ll fly in. If shit goes off the rails Vri, blow us outta the water. I’m not going to a Parishi prison or a slaver pen. That’s an order.”
Vri was about to make a smart remark when she saw Rei’s face. “Sure thing, captain,” she said somberly.
Rei nodded and set off at a brisk pace to the elevator that’d take her down to the hangar. Adrenaline fought with her own willpower to make her jittery and nervous, flooding systems indiscriminately. Instead, she forced her mind to tick, to think. Chances were good the warden was dead; if they’d let their ship deteriorate this badly, it was one of the only answers. The others were… less ideal.
She walked into the hangar to see Dex and Yllis stowing gear on a small, agile transport and to hear Karish ask “Wait, what’s the problem with a Parishi warden?”
Dex looked grim, a face he usually reserved for pre-mission jitters and to fuck with green pilots. He nodded at Rei.
“What do you think, Dodger?”
“Right now, I don’t think a damned thing. But I’m hoping to all the hells the fuck’s dead.”
“It would explain the state of the ship,” Yllis signed rapidly.
“Exactly.”
Rei checked her own gear; a new Raptor 7 semi-automatic handgun loaded with high density ferro rounds and a nearly antique Cobra-9 assault rifle — a souvenir from her participation in the war. The rifle had been retrofitted to accept the new round-replicators that kept you from needing to reload, and she switched the device to craft static crumple rounds after ensuring its material load was full.
“Is there something I should know?” Karish asked, panic rising in his voice.
“Stay behind us, fix the core, and hope to whatever gods you believe in the warden is dead,” Rei said and climbed aboard the transport, sealing the rad suit she’d thrown on as she did so.
She strapped herself into the pilot’s chair and flicked the pre-flight checks, feeling a sense of serenity fall over her as she felt the Roc’s systems activate in tandem. Dex and Yllis had already climbed aboard and Karish, fighting panic, followed them tentatively. Rei sighed and turned in the pilot’s seat to the engineer.
“Look, Matthais,” she said gently, “it’s probably nothing, okay? But since you’re freaking out, I’ll tell you. The Parishi wardens are — were,” she corrected herself, “Cyborgs. Sort of. They still had some fleshy bits, but it was mostly tech. No emotion, no pain. And they were ruthlessly efficient. And I don’t know if neural programming can be mean, but if it can, they were the meanest fucks you could find. Didn’t even do it for pleasure. They’d torture a prisoner just to make the others watch. But they’re old. Haven’t been made since the end of the war. And they weren’t great on the self-maintenance thing. So, if we’re lucky, this one’s long dead and we don’t have to worry about it. But if it isn’t, you stay the fuck behind us, okay?” There was bite in the last sentence and Karish, who was pale but looked less panicked, nodded.
“Besides,” Dex added with a grin only Rei noticed was fake, “We’ll be lucky if we get there in one piece, considering Dodger’s flying.”
“Excuse me, which one of us held the record for walk-away crash landings six years running?”
“Least I walked away from my crash landings,” Dex fired back.
“That was one time, and it was only because I was upside down!”
“Whatever you gotta tell yourself, Dodger.” His grin this time was more genuine, but she could still see the tension in the line of his jaw. They both knew firsthand what the wardens were like.
Rei kicked the Roc out of the hangar before she could think more on those memories, feeling the inertia pull at her innards. It was a familiar, comforting feeling.

Well I feel sad for Daniel, but I am very confused at the reaction to this news. People are going on about how they hate redbull, how this was so disrespectful and how Daniel has been treated worse than any other fired driver??? Are we forgetting De Vries, Albon, Gasly or Kyvyat?
RBR has never been known to be kind to the drivers that are not performing up to their standards (their behavior with Checo has been extremely uncharacteristic). They treat drivers like God if they are performing but are quick to tear them down if that is not the case. In many ways Daniel's exit wasn't that bad.
Moreover don't think that is something Daniel was unaware about when he got the chance to drive, he had been a part of Redbull family in his junior days, he knew Redbull are ruthless to core.
For me there is no surprise, instead I think that since Redbull is no longer at the front they are going back to their old operational ways. Also the in-fighting and tensions seem to have calmed down.
I think people just hate Red bull.
And let’s not forget, a lottttt of people weren’t even watching the sport when Gasly and Albon were fired, never mind Kvyat.
But I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again, the red bull that fired those three is a very different team than the one that fired Daniel. Red bull that fired Daniel has kept Perez after nearly three seasons of a poor showing against his teammate (the reasons for keeping this season may be beyond Red bull but it’s also not entirely beyond Red bull). This Red bull has kept Yuki (I know he’s a Honda hire but AM has reached a deal with Honda and I don’t think Yuki will be going over there so clearly it’s not a dealbreaker). This Red bull brought back Daniel despite having a reputation for wanting fresh talent. So…yah it’s a very different proposition from the old Red bull.
I don’t think Daniel being gone has to do with Red bull being ruthless and results focused at all. He was doing well enough to finish out the season. I don’t think Liam is going to do any better in the car than Daniel would have. I think RB is planning for the future. They had 5 drivers for 4 seats and they were either going to lose Liam or dump Daniel and Liam has more years left in the sport and Daniel can’t be taking up a seat in the junior team, and they can’t give him the RB seat because Perez is Carlos Slim Gorilla Glued in there. I think Daniel was collateral damage. Frankly it’s not that ruthless, it’s just poor planning.
But I do think they handled his leaving poorly. They should have announced it in a timely fashion once the news had leaked (which lets face it they probably leaked themselves). Once the rumours were out an announcement should have followed in short order. Making him answer all those questions from the media with actual information was unfair and really not respectful of the position they put him in.
I do think people are overcooking the “proper send off” thing. Like, yeah okay he missed doing donuts in AD (which they don’t tend to let drivers do anyway), and maybe a few more weeks of pundits being kinder to him knowing he was leaving. But I think the messages and the sentiments from everyone in the paddock were heartfelt and appropriate, and everyone in his close circle probably knew sooner than Singapore anyway and got the chance to speak to him. I get that it would have been grander to get to do it in Abu Dhabi but I don’t think RB should have to risk losing Liam over that. It had to happen when it did, that’s how this works. But they should have clarified it publicly

I will be giving a talk at the Rudolph Steiner House for the Astrological Lodge on Monday 4th March at 7pm. See the website for details.
I will be exploring two topics close to my heart: Astrology and Yoga: I am calling it Salutation to the Stars. But what would such a yoga sequence even look like? Are you an astrologer? Are you a yogi/yogini? If so do you practise both together? How can that be done effectively? This is what is now called Yogastrology.
Have you ever wondered how Astrology overlaps with Yoga in so many interesting ways? Does each practice have the same goals? What are the parallels and what are the differences? How does yoga interact with Ayurveda as well, along with Astrology? Are they completely different, or do they share any core beliefs or practices or are they three sister sciences dancing together? I hope to answer all these questions.
Mostly I want to analyse the charts of some of the central figures emerging out of India: Sri Yukteswar, Swami Vivekananda, Yogananda Paramhamsa, Sri Aurobindo, Krishnamacharya, BKS Iyengar, Patthabi Jois, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, Sir Bhagwan Rajneesh and of course Bikram Choudury.
I want to ask what set these guys apart from others? How did they become yogis? They set out on a mission to bring yoga to the West and we have to wonder, were they successful? Did they complete their intentions? Is there something in their charts that indicates that? Most people would say yes since both yoga and astrology are on the rise What is in their charts that would indicate they would be successful?
So what are the key drivers and aspects of their charts? I will explore these leading players setting their incredible stories in a historical context and picking out key signatures in their charts including asteroids and astrocartography.
Not to forget the role of women in yoga too although this could probably be a whole other talk in its own right to do it justice. There may not be time. But I will take a brief glance at the astrology of some of the key female yogis too:. Blanche de Vries, Indra Devi, Ida Rolf, Tao Porchon-Lynch and Guru Jagat.
There are other key players too in the sidelines such as Alan Bennett, Aleister Crowley, Sr Ramakrishna, Pierre Bernard and Theos Bernard .They were all key influencers on the growth of yoga. All that in just one hour will certainly be a challenge. The session begins at 7pm so hope to see you there.

Luciano de Vries: Leadership Lessons From Global Business Ventures
As an entrepreneur and founder of multinational companies in food production, logistics, sustainability consulting, and more, Luciano de Vries has extensive experience navigating diverse business cultures. With operations across Europe, Africa, and North America, it’s no wonder de Vries has cultivated adaptable leadership strategies, overcome operational obstacles, and learned how to expand productively into unfamiliar territories.
How does he navigate all these sectors and cultures? Luciano de Vries makes it sound so simple. He says to hire people who are “hungry to learn, no nine-to-five mentality. They always must be a good fit with the team. Of course, there can be arguments and people don’t need to align always. But they must accept each others’ opinions and look for solutions. Create a team where everyone wants the best for the company. The vision of how to reach it can differ, but always be constructive.”
Luciano de Vries — His Climb to the Top
Luciano de Vries first ventured beyond his native Netherlands as a young college student eager for new experiences. While still studying tax law at the University of Groningen in his native country, he began promoting events; it was a perfect gig for a gregarious, ambitious entrepreneur-in-training. During a school break in Spain, he was hired to do a similar job — and a career was born.
While other students were partying, he was scoping out the scene for business opportunities — and learning he had a knack for seeing and filling holes in the market. Within 20 years, his empire included enterprises in real estate, event promotion and planning, transportation, and more across Europe and expanding into the United States.
Now the CEO of Gaet Holding and the director of Bayswater Capital, he emphasizes leadership fundamentals over cultural overhauls.
“I don’t think there is a need to change if your way of leading is through leadership. If you lead by example and work hard, people will follow you. Of course, it can never hurt to read into different cultures. But if you make sure that you also relax with people and find out more about them and their culture, it can go well.
“The international teams in my case are all locally led by independent directors. On a group level, we work with advisory boards that help each other. And once a year, we go on a trip all together.“
This balancing act — anchoring in personal leadership style while adapting to local preferences — enabled de Vries to drive global cohesion. Direct managers are local experts who intrinsically understand cultural nuances and can contextualize high-level directives for regional teams.
Luciano de Vries’ 3-Step Recipe for Success
Luciano de Vries’ global business journey imparts several seminal lessons for multi-national success:
Hire and develop intelligent local leaders rather than transplanting one blanket headquarters mindset into all markets. Regional experts intrinsically grasp market nuances.
Invest time connecting with global team members and partners abroad to build trust and alignment. This guards against fragmented cultural silos across geographies.
Remain flexible in adapting to different regional business practices while staying grounded in the core leadership values underlying the global company vision. Blend the best of both worlds.
By living these global business principles, de Vries built an adaptable leadership style driving growth across continents. His journey highlights how cultural awareness, operational agility, and a people-first mindset can unlock success in even the most foreign business landscapes. In his book, it’s all about communication.
“Lack of communication or lack of the right communication is when people don’t know what the other is doing or how much work a task is or what the responsibilities are. If you give them a look into each others’ jobs and roles for, let’s say a day, that really helps people. That’s how good communication can start.”

Pretty boy
Nyck de Vries x reader
warnings: dom!reader, kinda switch!nyck, lots of petnames, taking pictures, small reading front, not proofread although I don't think there's any errors.
Tumblr media
"you're so pretty like" you straddled his waist and held up the Polaroid camera to his face and snapped a photo of him, shirtless and marked up oh-so pretty to your liking "you are such a pretty boy daring" nyck's cheeks flustered red at the use of nicknames and turned his head to the side not meeting your eyes anymore.
You chuckled softly and put the camera down while gripping onto his jaw roughly forcing him to look at you again "don't look away love. I'm not finished taking photos yet" nynk whimpered softly at the tone of your voice and slowly moved his hands up your thigh going higher and higher to where your core sat atop of his lap and playfully messed with the stings on your black thong.
you dropped your hand from his jaw and moved your hand slowly towards his abs your fingers tracing along the little scars that laid upon his stomach "can I touch you?" He asked his voice so shy and small, but you knew he was just acting. acting so small and innocent to the point it almost convinced you to let him touch you, but no, you weren't going to give in that quickly.
"about this this" you leaned down and gave him light kisses to his stomach "you let me take a few more photos of you, However I please and I can let you do whatever you want to me" you looked at him and as he was about to speak, you put your finger up to his mouth hushing him "but just this once tho pretty boy" he nodded, but stayed silent for a little while only letting out small groans and moans as you kissed him getting lower and lower to his abdomen while undoing the stings on his sweatpants. nyck smirked as he saw you looking up at him while undoing his stings and gripped onto your hair harshly forcing you to look at him.
"about this hun, no more kissing and teasing me until you take your damn pictures" you raised your eyebrows and chuckled "now who are you to make such an demand huh" you got up and straddled his waist again while wrapping your hand around his neck applying light pressure.
"your pretty boy. remember" he smirked and you rolled your eyes letting go of his neck. while picking up your camera"see that's more like it, daring" he mocked you from earlier, but shut up as soon as you leaned down closer to his ear. "don't get too cooky, nyck. remember the rules love" he dropped his hand from your head and swallowed harshly still staying quiet.
you gigged putting the camera up to his face "see that's more like it nycky so quiet and pretty just like this'

Margarita Laux-Antille was a sorceress, a member of the Lodge, and the Rectoress of Aretuza and appeared in Time of Contempt, Baptism of Fire, and Lady of the Lake.
If you want to chat some more about Rita, or just the books in general I made a discord server just for Witcher Books content that you can find here.
With that, Hi! I’m Aaliyah and this is Part 8 of my WTF Series - a crash course in subjects from The Witcher books.
Spoilers (duh)
The first time we meet Margarita (known as Rita by her friends) is in Time on Contempt when Rita and Tissaia come across Ciri and Tissaia mistakes her for an Aretuza novice:
“Why aren’t you in school, novice?’ Tissaia asked in a cold, resonant voice, eyeing Ciri with a penetrating gaze.
‘Wait, Tissaia,’ said the other woman, who was younger, tall and fair-haired, and wore a green dress with a plunging neckline. ‘I don’t know her. I don’t think she’s—’
‘Yes, she is,’ interrupted the dark-haired woman. ‘I’m certain she’s one of your girls, Rita. You can’t know them all. She’s one of the ones who sneaked out of Loxia during the confusion when we were moving dormitories. And she’ll admit as much in a moment. Well, novice, I’m waiting.”
This is ironic because Yennefer brought Ciri to meet with them so she could join Aretuza. This misunderstanding is cleared up and Ciri and Yennefer are invited back with Tissaia and Rita:
“Yennefer, it turned out, knew Tissaia and Margarita very well. The enchantresses invited her to the Silver Heron, the best and most expensive inn in Gors Velen, where Tissaia de Vries was staying, delaying her trip to the island for reasons known only to herself. Margarita Laux-Antille, who, it turned out, was the rectoress of Aretuza, had accepted the older enchantress’s invitation and was temporarily sharing the apartment with her.”
HOW MANY BEDS IN THAT APARTMENT RITA? HOW MANY?
Rita is also described as being very beautiful ---
“Margarita Laux-Antille emerged from the pool with a splash, spraying water everywhere. Ciri couldn’t stop herself looking. She had seen Yennefer naked on several occasions and hadn’t imagined anyone could have a more shapely figure. She was wrong. Even marble statues of goddesses and nymphs would have blushed at the sight of Margarita Laux-Antille undressed.”
She is shown to be extremely magically powerful as well (from Baptism of Fire):
“Philippa Eilhart’s tightly closed eyelids twitched, Triss Merigold panted and there were beads of sweat on Keira Metz’s high forehead. Only on Margarita Laux-Antille’s face was there no sign of fatigue.”
Now Rita ends up not going to Thanedd (if you don’t know what that is you can read about it here). She doesn’t go because, as Tissaia puts it:
“Don’t listen to her, Yennefer,’ said Tissaia coldly. ‘She’s bitter and full of regrets. Do you know why she’s not going to the banquet at Aretuza? Because she’s ashamed to show up alone, without the man she’s been involved with for four years. The man people envied her for. Who she lost because she was unable to value his love.”
Rita is not involved in the ensuing coup but we see her once more in Baptism of Fire as she becomes a part of The Lodge. She believes in their core tenet of female supremacy in magic:
“That’s right,’ Margarita Laux-Antille admitted calmly. ‘I often compare the results of the novices from Aretuza with those of the boys from the school in Ban Ard, and the comparisons are invariably to the girls’ credit. Magic requires patience, delicacy, intelligence, prudence, and perseverance, not to mention the humble, but calm, endurance of defeat and failure. Ambition is the undoing of men. They always want what they know to be impossible and unattainable. And they are unaware of the attainable.”
Now, her highest motivation is always seen as protecting her students and being invested in her school -- Aretuza.
“Politics don’t interest me,’ Margarita Laux-Antille, the rectoress of the academy of magic, announced loudly. ‘I simply do not wish my girls, whose education I’ve dedicated myself to, to be used as mercenaries, pulling the wool over their eyes with slogans about love for one’s homeland. The homeland of those girls is magic; that’s what I teach them. If someone involves my girls in a war, stands them on a new Sodden Hill, they will be lost, irrespective of the result on that battlefield. I understand your reservations, Enid, but we’re here to discuss the future of magic, not issues of race.”
However, Rita is also shown to be politically neutral, with an implied bias for humans.
“I am politically neutral,’ Margarita Laux-Antille chimed in, lifting her head, ‘and my school is politically neutral. I have in mind every type, kind and class of politics which exists!”
This implied bias comes from how she doesn’t empathize with Francesca who she is talking to in the quote above. And in Time of Contempt she sees the Elves as the more violent side of the war:
“There’s a war on, Yennefer. Rayla must have seen her comrades-in-arms falling, alive, into the Squirrels’ clutches many times. Then hung by their arms from trees as target practice. Blinded, castrated, with their feet burnt in campfires. Falka herself wouldn’t have been ashamed of the atrocities committed by the Scoia’tael.”
Magarita goes along with the Lodge’s plans -- including the plan to put Ciri on the throne of Kovir by having him marry her. Then in Lady of the Lake when Yennefer and Ciri are put on “trial” by the Lodge we meet Margarita again.
She is described as dignified and serious. This is an important note because in a scene set in the future, we find out that only two portraits of members of The Lodge survived and one of them being Sile de Tancarville and the other Margarita.
At the “trial” where Ciri technically joins the Lodge and officially declares herself Yennefer’s daughter, Rita is very friendly and open to Ciri. She has no bad blood with Ciri or Yennefer and is generally pleasant to them. Granted, she never goes out of her way to help them like Fringilla did in Baptism of Fire but she was kinder then most.
Rita votes for Ciri, citing Tissaia’s memory:
“I also vote for her,” Margarita said with a smile. “You may wonder at my motivations, ladies, but I do it for Tissaia de Vries. If Tissaia was among us she would not agree that in order to maintain the unity of the Lodge it is necessary to use coercive methods or restriction of personal freedom.”
Overall, Margarita Laux-Antille is a woman who loves her school and her students. She treats Ciri as another student within seconds of meeting her and is sympathetic towards her and Yennefer. Rita was a close friend of Tissaia and a member of the Lodge. We don’t know exactly what happens to her post-canon but she likely met the same fate as the other members of The Lodge. Chased down in the Witcher Hunts.
Hopefully this is helpful @thence-we-came-forth I’m doing the next one soon!!!

2023 Australian Grand Prix
2023 Australian Grand Prix - Race Report
Welcome back after a very eventful race, everyone. Usually, the races in Albert Park are not so eventful, but this season's race was so highly-charged that we still couldn't shake off the shock yet. Between 2 Safety Car periods, 1 Virtual Safety Car period, and 3 Red Flags, we have been shaken to our core as racing fans. But why was this race so chaotic? What was the cause of all the drama? Let's take a look at it together.
Safety Car Periods, Red Flags, 8 DNFs!
If I have to speak for myself, I never thought Albert Park Street Circuit was a ''dangerous'' track until this last race. For me, it was just as risky as any other track, not more - not less. It was one of the tracks that I liked. However, this last race made me question all my thoughts about Albert Park. Although there wasn't any rain or other unusual circumstances, eight cars didn't see the finish line during the 2023 Australian Grand Prix. First, Ferrari's young star, Charles Leclerc, went off the track after having contact with Aston Martin's Lance Stroll. Both due to damage and according to the rules (if the driver cannot return the car to the garage, which means it cannot move on its own, the vehicle mentioned is considered out of the race. Ie. 2022 Silverstone: George Russell was not allowed to continue the race after his contact with Gasly & Zhou, despite stopping his car deliberately because he wasn't able to restart his car & he was out of his vehicle) Leclerc was out of the race. These circumstances brought on the first Safety Car period. Later on, Mercedes' young star, George Russell, who managed to take the lead from Max Verstappen at the start, had flames shooting from the rear of his car. Unfortunately, he had to stop his vehicle quickly. And then, experienced Williams driver Alex Albon met the barriers (at high speed) and brought on the first Red Flag period. The reason for the Red Flag was a recovery crane that came onto the track to take the young Thai's wrecked Williams. No, you did not misread that! The cause of the red flag was a crane on the tarmac. Believe us; it was surprising to witness the FIA, often criticized for its inadequacy regarding safety measures, enforcing this new rule. Still, I would say ''don't get too excited''. During the final few laps of the race, Kevin Magnussen also met the barriers, and there were red flags once again. Because the race was nearing its end, everyone except Williams' American rookie Logan Sargeant, switched to soft tires. Now, that's precisely where all hell broke loose! If we look at the incidents that happened before the completion of the first lap of the race, we can see that nearly every time, the driver who caused the incident opted to start the race on soft tires. Why? Because soft tires have the lowest grip among the other tire compounds, and for the same reason, they are the most slippery ones, especially when cold. That said, soft tires are not suitable to start the race with. When the conditions were such that everybody had soft tires except Sargeant, the FIA's insisting on having a standing restart brought back all the questions about ''FIA and its inadequacy with safety measures. In the end, Carlos Sainz, who carried the hopes of Ferrari for the race, had a slip at the restart because of the reasons we mentioned above and started a chain reaction. First, the young Spaniard hit his compatriot & idol, Fernando Alonso. At that moment, Sergio Perez, who found himself in the position of Sainz's next victim, went off the track while trying to avoid a crash. At the same time, in the back, young rookie Logan Sargeant contacted Nyck De Vries, and the Dutchman hit Esteban Ocon with the momentum from his contact with Sargeant. And Ocon, with the same effect, crashed into his compatriot & teammate, Pierre Gasly. As a result, four more drivers were out of the race, increasing the total DNF count to eight. The rest is the last two laps leading to the finish line behind the Safety Car. Young Spaniard, Carlos Sainz, lost a guaranteed 3rd place when the FIA added a 5-second time penalty to the two laps behind the SC. He found this penalty unfair and objected to it along with his team. Although the real cause of the incident was the FIA, as they insisted on a standing restart when everybody had soft tires, Sainz was the driver who caused the incident on track. And as such, unfortunately, he deserved the penalty. However, the punishment during the SC laps made the result heavier than just 5 seconds. For the sake of justice and objectivity, we have to accept that. If the race is going to end behind the SC, a 5-place grid penalty for the next race would be fair instead of taking away a 3rd place he very well deserved with a 5-second time penalty. After all, he did deserve that 3rd place up until the chaos.
What Was The FIA's Mistake?
There is, of course, a culprit for all the chaos and incidents we have mentioned earlier. That is, unfortunately, again, the FIA! We can talk about two mistakes within this chain of events. One is an absolute, undisputable mistake, and the other is such that the FIA has nearly avoided it.
1) Their insistence on a standing restart when everyone had soft tires. I don't think I need to explain why soft tires are not suitable to start the race with again. I have mentioned this above. Even more so when the rolling restart decision behind the Safety Car proved their insistence on a standing restart void.
2) They opened the track positions and whether they will accept the previous lap to the discussion. According to the regulations, in situations where they cannot decide on the track positions of the drivers after a chaotic incident, they accept the standings from the previous lap or sometimes even that of the two laps prior (Ie: when Alonso was at the hospital after a terrible incident and they declared Fisichella the winner five days after the race in Brazil in 2003). They decide this according to the track positions at the moment of the incident. If most of the cars are on the 3rd sector of the track when they suspend the race, that lap is considered complete. And the positions from the said lap are valid for the restart. However, if most of the cars are NOT on the 3rd sector yet, the lap is considered incomplete, and, hence, the standings from the previous lap are valid for the restart (Ie: 2022 Silverstone after Russell - Gasly - Zhou incident). When the situation was such, after losing a hard-earned 3rd place, Fernando Alonso & Aston Martin were ready to appeal if the FIA validated the current positions for the restart. Luckily, the FIA opted to validate the standings from the previous lap and made a re-ordering according to the DNFs for the restart. They also decided to give a rolling restart behind the SC, so they turned from a big mistake.
Chaos Benefited McLaren!
Chaos, especially crashes, are scenes we don't like seeing in our sport. And we definitely cannot celebrate such incidents. However, considering the shunts during the Australian Grand Prix didn't hurt anyone, we can say that the chaos that resulted from the incidents benefited McLaren. As we all know, McLaren has been struggling since the beginning of the season. It is upsetting for both their fans and racing fans, in general, to see such a historic team suffering badly. After never-ending technical problems in Bahrain and getting stuck at the back of the grid in Jeddah, double points in Australia are a great motivation for both the team and their young drivers. Especially for the young rookie Oscar Piastri, scoring his first points at his home race must have been a big motivator. We hope for the continuation of these points.
Not A Podium, Champions League!
I know I am keeping this rather long, but I need to mention this. After all that chaos, the top 3 of the Australian Grand Prix were like a champions league. Young Dutch champion Max Verstappen, 7x world champion Lewis Hamilton, and of course, our ''veteran'' Fernando Alonso, shared the podium for the 2nd time with Qatar 2021. It was magical to see such a parade of stars on the steps after all the chaos. Champions of 3 different eras, all three of them are the best of their respective generations, and all three of them are on the list of all-time greats. It's impossible not to admire.
Mercedes: Is It A Surprise? Or Is It A Message?
Another team struggling with the 2022 regulation changes is Mercedes, for sure. As their fans celebrated the team's rise to the 2nd step with the experienced champion Lewis Hamilton, a question also arose in the minds of racing fans. Is this a Surprise? Or is this Mercedes' message, saying, ''We are still here, we are still in the game, and we are regaining our power''? Of course, no one has the answers to these questions except for Mercedes engineers and mechanics. But this is still a promising result for the team.
Without further redo, let's summarize the results. While the young champion Max Verstappen won the chaotic Australian Grand Prix full of red flags & Safety Car periods, Lewis Hamilton saw the chequered flag in 2nd place. On the other hand, The ''Last Mohican'', Fernando Alonso, brought in a 3rd podium in a row for the British crew. Other than the top 3, Nico Hulkenberg brings in some solid points haul for Haas, while McLaren scored double points in their rookie's home race.
We end our report here and say ''see you in Azerbaijan''. Until then, take care of yourselves. :)))

It was a very good step forward F1 team bosses reflect on impact of fascinating 2022 rule changes
Formula 1 team bosses have taken time to assess the major changes to the sport’s regulations for the 2022 season, hailing them as a step in the right direction after an action-packed campaign. F1 introduced an all-new set of technical regulations this year, including a move to ground effect aerodynamics, revised bodywork and larger tyres, with the aim of generating closer racing and more overtaking opportunities. READ MORE: ‘We’re seeing the rewards’ – Brawn hails positive impact of F1’s 2022 rule changes Reflecting on the changes, and the core goals, Alpine team boss Otmar Szafnauer said: “I think there [were] a couple of objectives, one of which was to bring the field a bit closer together. I think that’s been partially achieved; I think the racing is a little bit closer. “Then the other objective was to get most of the downforce, or the predominant amount of the downforce, from the floor, such that overtaking can be a little bit easier. I think overtaking is a bit easier. This feature is currently not available because you need to provide consent to functional cookies. Please update your cookie preferences Top 10 battles of the 2022 Formula 1 season “Still, at some circuits, it’s difficult, [it] still requires DRS, and sometimes even with DRS, we struggle to overtake, but I think it’s proved to be an entertaining season, and I think from an entertainment standpoint, the new formula has delivered.” Haas team boss Guenther Steiner echoed Szafnauer’s comments, saying: “I think the regulations worked. We have to differentiate between financial regulations and technical. I think financial worked. The teams are closer together, all the teams have scored points this year. READ MORE: Sainz says F1 ‘got it right’ with 2022 rule changes and expects championship to become ‘more and more interesting’ “On the technical regulations, I think that it worked as well – it made the racing better. You can get a little bit closer car to car. It will never be perfect with a car with wings on, that you don’t lose downforce when you’re behind the car, but it went in the right direction. “There are improvements, always… there’s always margin to improve the technical regulations, so I think if we keep on working on it, we are on the right way, but in general, the entertainment value is better, I think. Star Trails and Ash Rails: The Inspection Part 1
Rei Copeland stared out the wide, port side view-port at the passing stars quietly. The ship thrummed around her like a gently breathing beast. The combination lulled her into a sense of relaxation that had become all too difficult to find in recent years. The thud of boots on the deck interrupted her.
“Credit for your thoughts, captain?”
Rei turned and looked at Matthais Karish, one her engineers. He was a young man, with long, brunette hair pulled back into a ponytail coated in what she hoped was hair product. He had a gentle face, with a quick smile and eyes that sparkled when he was excited about something. A layer of stubble was beginning to grow on the boyish face. She’d brought him aboard at the last station, when her lead engineer had insisted they needed more help if she wanted to keep the ship functional. That had been a few months ago, at this point.
Rei offered him a half smile and looked back out the view port.
“Just watching the stars go by, Karish,” she answered.
“That why you’re out here? To watch the stars?” He asked, taking a pull of his coffee.
“Something like that, yeah,” she chuckled.
“Sorry if I’m disturbing you captain, I just thought you might want some company. Gets pretty lonely aboard sometimes.” Karish turned to leave.
“You’re fine Karish. You grew up on the stations, huh?”
He beamed and then thought better of it, turning red for a moment. When he’d recovered, he answered.
“Sure did captain! Been around ships and reactors my whole life. My mum used to tell me that I was gonna grow a third arm, I spent so much time around the core.”
Rei laughed at the image of Karish as a small child, ducking in and out of hard to reach spaces.
“What’d you tell her?”
“That a third arm would be really helpful for holding tools,” Karish laughed a warm, belly laugh.
“You always want to go spacing then?” Rei asked.
“More or less, yeah. My dad ran freighters during the war. Used to tell me all about running blockades and dodging fighters in an ‘old rickety bucket’a bolts more likely to drop a plate than a delivery’,” Karish dropped his voice into a low growl as he quoted his father. “I grew up dreaming of space adventures,” he smiled at the memory. “Plus, they couldn’t keep me out of the core on whatever station we called home, so it just made sense.”
“Well, how’s your first adventure?” Rei smiled back at him and picked up her own coffee. It had gone cold long ago, but she didn’t mind.
Karish thought about it a moment, as though he wanted to give the most accurate answer he could. Finally, he settled on something.
“I figured out a while ago that my da only told me the… fun parts of those stories. And that he left out a hell of a lot that he didn’t want his kid to think about. So I wasn’t expecting to brush up against anything like that when I joined. Suppose I didn’t expect to enjoy the quiet so much.”
“The actual quiet, or the calm?” Rei asked and Karish laughed.
“Both, I guess. There’s something about keeping a core running cool when that’s all you gotta focus on. Sort of… meditative. And now that I’m used to the quiet, it’s kinda nice. Still miss the crowds though, always feel like there’s no one to talk to around here.”
Rei smiled at the young man gently. “It’s a small ship, Karish. You can always find someone. Found me, didn’t you?”
“Sorry about that, captain—” before he could finish, the comm-line came to life.
“Captain?”
“What’s up Vri?” she answered her pilot.
“We’re getting hailed by a Trinach ship. Says they want to inspect us for smuggling.”
Rei sighed and started off toward the bridge, her long legs leaving Karish to catch up.

I agree. The fandom tries to justify that dick brain shape bird demon action and make him seem like the innocent. I hate the fandom indulging themselves in those cheesy silly fanon fanart and instagram of Stolas crying while Stella is yelling at him or being all sweet daddy to Octavia.. they're not canon people! Stolas is the worse dad and a pervert who wants to get inside someone pants and take advantage of them.
Tumblr media
HONESTLY ... Okay.
The fandom rlly uwu-fys Stolas ... So much.
You can like the guy while still acknowledging his faults, I will first pretense with this. OASDKIFJG
Like my GOD am I so tired of the fanon stol/itz shit ... Like Blitzo very much is NOT HAPPY with Stolas, and we are shown this MULTIPLE TIMES. Stolas doesn't consider Blitzo's feelings and only ever uses him for sexual gratification.
WHY do you think Blitzo was so fucking mad and upset at the end of ep 7 and wouldn't go in the house with Stolas? What has Stolas done to make him believe that he doesn't just want to fuck him and that's it? BLITZO was the one who ASKED STOLAS out on a date FIRST and BLITZO at this point DOESN'T EVEN HOLD ROMANTIC FEELINGS FOR THE GUY.
Stolas has made no moves on Blitzo that AREN'T sexually predatory.
ON TOP of how he IS STILL obviously very classist and treats other Imps still as 'lower class', Blitzo is just special because ...? Who knows right now.
And then everyone wants to say how good a dad he is when ... He really isn't? KDFJ
Like episode 2 he was clearly not at all paying attention to Octavia's needs, or her wants. Octavia obviously holds some sort of negative feelings regarding Stolas considering her music choice and her general attitude ... And rightfully so when he wants to take her to a kiddie park she tells him straight up that she basically doesn't wanna go/doesn't harbor any good feelings about the place to go
But Stolas insists because it's the only thing he seems to remember Octavia liking and that was when she was a toddler.
AND THEN to top it off with the fact of him bringing along the guy he cheated on her mother with for NO OTHER REASON than to flirt with him and be all like uuwwuu saaave meee blitzy~~ teehee~! like mfer arent you here to spend time with your daughter. who is obviously upset and uncomfortable at all of this.
Lot of people focus and point out how much of a bad mom and absentee mom Stella seems to be, but that doesn't mean Stolas is a good dad either just because the bar is so low. LOASKDFJ
The only reason so far Blitzo is even doing the shit with Stolas is for a business transaction, which is something Stolas is seemingly holding over Blitzo's head as a means to get what he wants from a lower class hellborn.
LIKE MAN.
If you want a pathetic meow meow with familial issues and depression and is also a horny vulgar fuck while being a good dad to his daughter Blitzo is RIGHT fucking there.
Which, speaking of.
This fandom does the same thing the HS fandom has done with Vris/rezi, which honestly is funny now that I realize this.
Where they take the highly popular fanon fave and make them the focus of a ship and put all the apologism and like... uwu-fying onto them and their s/o is just an Accessory and isn't given much of any sort of the same respect at ALL let alone any besides sticking them with a couple core personality traits and stripping them of everything else.
People dtend to rlly portray and see Blitzo highly diff to how he is in canon w Stolas and so much of the art and comics I see is like... STOLAS ... and then Blitzo is there as his lil accessory that people can mold into the perfect little ship toy for their precious meow meow
Like the amount of depth and love and attention Stolas gets verses Blitzo is VERY overwhelmingly transparent, least from what I've seen. And it's a shame because Blitzo IS the one with the most and more deeper issues and backstory we've been given peppered in but everyone is so focused on the rich classisst asshole so like. OASDKIFJG

So @crushcandles replied to my last Yennefer/Tissaia ficlet and said, “I would read 10000000 words of this if you ever wrote it,” so naturally I wrote some more. It’s not quite 10,000,000 words, but here we are.
Same caveats for this one as the last one, I suppose. Maybe a little spicier this time around.
The problem is, once she’s let herself imagine overmastering Tissaia de Vries, the thought starts to take hold of Yennefer. She finds herself returning to it at the most inopportune moments. In consultation with a high-profile client, the image comes to her—Tissaia tied to that bed in Rinde, her limbs held taut. While preparing herbs for a volatile elixir, she pictures herself sinking her teeth into the sensitive flesh of Tissaia’s throat, and nearly spoils the whole batch.
Before long, the mere thought of high color rising to Tissaia’s cheeks is enough to get Yennefer wet. The idea of it—Tissaia thrashing beneath her, helpless as Yennefer brings herself off—is difficult to resist. It begins to take the place of other favorite fantasies—a dream of Istredd on his knees, or the memory of riding the White Wolf in that collapsed house—until soon it’s the only thing she can think of when she fucks herself.
Yennefer is no fool. When she was an adept, plenty of the girls at Aretuza had crushes on the instructors. Yennefer understands that what they really wanted was approbation. And rhapsodizing about those glamorous, powerful women was a way to feel close to them, to feel you too could hold all the secrets of the world in the palm of your hand. Yennefer was never one of those simpering students who giggled and flushed whenever her beloved teacher passed her in the hall, but she knows what it is to crave the attention of one who has that sort power over you—especially when that attention is not forthcoming.
Perhaps that’s all this is now, too. Or perhaps Tissaia’s appearance in her bedroom in Rinde struck a fissure in the dam that has been holding back her anger at the rectoress for all these years, and now all her resentment is trying to get free any way it can. It could be as simple as that. Perhaps.
But this little bit of make believe does light her up in ways that are entirely unexpected for someone as experienced and long-lived as Yennefer is. After all, she’s fucked women before, and the desire to take command of her lovers is certainly nothing new. Like most sorceresses, Yennefer knows her own appetites well, and she’s hardly ashamed of her desires. So why is it that this particular idea is so appealing all of a sudden? How is it that she can still be surprised—by this, of all things?
It’s a question she cannot answer, even as she find herself returning time and again to her favorite variation of the fantasy, one when she ties Tissaia’s arms with a magic elven rope. Yennefer relishes the thought of rutting against her that way—her hips splayed wide, one of her legs on Yennefer’s shoulder so she can grind against the slick heat of Tissaia’s cunt. She would like to look down on Tissaia below her, to revel in the roll of her hips and the frantic friction at the join of their bodies.
She doesn’t bother too much with the whys and wherefores, but in this particular daydream, Tissaia can’t come, while Yennefer can—and, oh, she does. She fucks herself against Tissaia ruthlessly while Tissaia writhes and sobs beneath her and when Yennefer’s brought herself off several times like that, each climax fiercer than the last, she reaches down with her free hand to work her clit roughly, and comes again, so hard they almost tumble apart. But what never fails to send Yennefer over the edge, as she lies in her bed, imagining these things she will never do, is the way she imagines Tissaia would look at her when Yennefer was sure she could bear it no longer. In her mind’s eye, Yennefer can see her, thoroughly fucked but still unsated, aching to come and completely at Yennefer’s mercy. She would look up at Yennefer, eyes wet with tears of desperation, and, her throat too parched to speak, she would mouth the word more. It’s that plea that makes the core of her seize up in a searing shock of pleasure. And that, of course, is what this daydream is really all about: not a schoolgirl crush, or an expression of anger as she first let herself believe, but the longing for submission freely and unequivocally given, unconditional and limitless passion. What she wants, more than anything, is to take her pleasure from Tissaia and take and take and still take more—an impossible feat, for the woman who wants everything.  And yet, she wants it. She wants it. She wants.

She rubbed her temples, a migraine working its way from the right side of her head to encompass it all. Eyeing through narrowed eyes the books sprawled around her desk, she belatedly noticed that some were threatening to fall off, almost making her chuckle, because no matter how much she might have changed since her conduit moment, Yennefer was still as messy as ever.
Tissaia sighed instead, leaning back into her chair, contemplating changing the contents of her pipe to something stronger than Kaedwenian tobacco, nevertheless, she was called back from her thoughts, just as she was about to summon the herbs, by a loud groan coming from the woman in front of her.
Who by the looks of her, wasn’t faring much better, with both hands clasped together as if in prayer, her forehead resting against them, black silky hair covering the rest of her face from view.
They had been at this for weeks, ever since the mage came back from an emergency call from Istredd, who had found only Gods knew what in those ancient ruins he studied as a saner person might their lover. And from the annoyed twist of her carmine lips and the crackling of chaos around her when the younger sorceress had portalled into her office, the boy had put up quite the fight to give it away to someone that wasn’t from the Council or the Chapter.
(Creating a way to erase memories might just be the Arch-mistress’ greatest achievement, not that anyone would ever know the author behind that particular spell.)
But neither could be trusted with the current political climate, after Sodden… well, everything had gone to shit after Sodden. The only good thing to come out of it being that Yennefer had decided to stay for the time being at Aretuza, then again not without imposing herself on Tissaia, of course, for the Rectoress now had a shadow that followed her everywhere except the laboratory.
Alas, Margarita had taken over her classes, since she was still recovering from the dimetirium, so her overwhelming amount of spare time had been spent trying to figure out what the golden ball in front of them was. A lost cause, probably, now that she considered it coldly.
Even so, hours and hours of hard work had borne no fruits. Nothing in her office, her mind or the immense library her school possessed had given them even clues.
Such an inconspicuous looking thing that it was… The most dangerous kind, if her five centuries alive had taught her anything.
It had slight cracks that looked intentional as if it was holding something on its insides of great importance, yet other than that, it wouldn’t look out of place in the workshop of a famous blacksmith. It certainly didn’t look like something found in an elven gravesite.
There had been moments when it had called to them, yes, to the Arch-mistress and her rebel. Distorted whispers, chants in Elder, beckoning them to touch it, still, they never did. That might just be suicide, considering the sheer power it exuded and after the battle with Nilfgaard, neither sorceress was keen on ending it, no matter how willing they had been on that hill.
“It’s time to accept life has no more to give.”
“You’re worth more than Nilfgaard could ever give you.”
No, they didn’t need any more blood on their already soaked hands, thank you very much. That didn’t mean Destiny agreed with their passivity, though. Those gods-damned whispers. They hadn’t even had lunch!
Fingertips tinted white, Tissaia de Vries, resident Ice Queen, was actually considering throwing the sodding thing into the ocean, from her window office.
“What’s the worst that could happen? Really?” Said the violet-eyed mage and were the Arch-mistress in a better mood or her lungs not burning or exhaustion not weighing down on her like talking to Stregobor at length did, she might’ve listened to her conscious, to her control or just to reason because what she did next was shocking to both her and Yennefer.
She extended her bare hand as if possessed, ignoring the high-pitched wails of the younger mage who insisted she had only been joking, because what else was she supposed to do in this bloody hovel of a castle that was filled with cretins and hormonal teenagers?
The sorceress might have also noticed that her former pupil was just as willing to put herself in the line of fire for her as she had been on the battlefield.
They touched the metal. Together.
And their whole worlds were shaken to the core.
Sitting up so fast she almost fell off the bed. A bed? Blue eyes opened to gentle sunlight coming from the window, the cold air hitting her bare skin, making goosebumps form on her ivory skin.
Looking down on herself she took notice that she wasn’t only naked but on a foreign bed, one that resembled the one in- Oh, fuck.
Cautiously she looked to the person next to her, holding the sheet against her bosom, trying to recover whatever she could of her destroyed modesty. The sight that met her was red, full, lips, her beautiful mouth open so wide her jaw might be dislocated, violet eyes and equally bare olive skin.
Tissaia and Yennefer both screamed.
The younger mage put space between them by jumping out of the bed and thus revealing herself completely to the brunette, who just responded by covering her petite form with the sheets. Hiding in a makeshift cocoon, her hands came up to cover her eyes like a toddler, only to find a wedding band on her ring finger, falling down the mattress, on her arse, accidentally, in her fright.
About to scream some more the pair were startled by a tentative knocking on the door and a child’s preoccupied voice, “Mama, Mummy, why are you screaming? You promised we could sleep in since aunt Rita almost burned down the kitchen yesterday!”
She could perfectly see the pout of the baby girl in her mind’s eyes, the fantasy upsetting her beyond belief, a visceral reaction she had only ever had with one girl out of the dozens she had taught. “It was a bat, it came through the window!” Tissaia responded on reflex, the words out of her mouth before she knew it.
The raven-haired mage followed suit, not knowing what was happening, just that she had the urge to make that tone of hers go away as fast as she could, “We’ll make it up to you! What about pancakes, sweetheart?” Covering her mouth with her hands, she made the same discovery that had the mighty Rectoress of Aretuza reacting like Fringilla was about to throw the powder at her face again.
“Okay! I’ll go tell Duchess!” And with that the girl, who they somehow knew was four and feasted on those pastries as King Foltest had done on wine, was gone, leaving two gobsmacked mages behind. King Foltest was dead.
“Whatever in fuck’s name happened?” Hissed the Arch-Mistress, crawling up to the bed and covering herself with one of the quilts she took from it. She threw with her free hand another one to Yennefer’s face, which the younger mage immediately wrapped around herself like a towel.
“Don’t ask me, you’re the one that touched the bloody artefact.” Walking to the wardrobe she pulled out a dress, glaring at the offensive garment for being a plain thing that she would have never in her right mind spent her coin in. Taking, as well, from one of the drawers a shirt and a skirt that could only belong to Tissaia, since they were so small, passing the clothing to the brunette and avoiding her eyes. “And like an idiot, I tried to stop you.”
She made a beeline for the bathroom, slamming the door closed. “Balance and control, my arse!” After throwing a pillow at the closed door, the brunette put on the outfit, frowning at her reflection in the mirror whilst simultaneously doing her hair up in her normal bun, almost hyperventilating when she noticed that her necklace was nowhere to be seen.
Breathing as deeply and slowly as possible, she went looking for some footwear and found worn boots by what the Arch-mistress assumed was her part of the bed, fastening the shoelaces with her teeth gritted and her hands shaking with electricity. Gods, she knew looked like a bloody peasant and that the pendant was gone and that she was now probably married with a child, but burning the house down with lightning wasn’t going to help matters at all.
Tissaia’s mind had never been this troubled as when she slid down the wall, her head resting against her knees, her arms hugging them. The brunette had dreamed about something like this, for years, decades even, but that was all she let herself have, never thinking she could get over the hurt of allowing herself to embrace it, knowing it was impossible.
Flashbacks assaulted her then, blood coming from her palms as she dug her nails in the skin. The coup on Thanned, Princess Cirilla and the witcher Geralt, the Lodge of Sorceresses and the end of the conflict and then… peace. A wedding. A gift. A baby. Her daughter. Their daughter.
Her whole frame shook, dry sobs coming from her lungs. Teeth biting down on her wounded hand to not make a sound. The grief. The loss. The happiness. The love. It was unbearable and still the best that had ever happened to her. Still a fabricated fantasy.
Inside the laboratory, her violet eyes filled with tears, letting some of them, the most stubborn, fall. This was all she had ever wanted, but not like this. Gods, not like this. From what little she could see they were happy, so happy in this reality and yet she knew it would slip from her fingers like water the moment that fucking ball decided to take this from her.
She wiped her eyes with the heel of her hand, trying to take comfort in applying the green eyeshadow on her eyelids, the lipstick on her lips, as a thousand memories fought for the spotlight in her mind. Gripping the brush so hard she broke it when her clever mind managed to solve the riddle of this existence.
They were in the future.
Racing to the door she opened it with magic, almost tripping in her haste to get to her wife. Stopping dead in her tracks when she saw what Tissaia had been reduced to.
Her thoughts unguarded for the first time she could remember, flowing in the stream of chaos that was always present around her. There were so many things to decipher she just stood still for a few minutes and then her heart broke. The ocean inside her was killing her. “Oh.” She whispered.
“Tissaia.” Yennefer knelt in front of her, taking her hands and healing the half-moon cuts in her palms. Blue eyes fluttering open, the light in them belonging to a broken woman, to a dead one. As she almost made herself. Gods, please, no. Anything but that. Anything. Even so, it was the truth and she was thankful for the knowledge in a way, for the opportunity to stop her, to hide her from the world that would come to want her head on a pike.
She hugged her, burying her face in the crook of her neck, smelling in the scent of her. “Please.” When that wasn’t enough, the younger sorceress manoeuvred them so the woman was on her lap, her chin on the crown of her head, rocking her back and forth, whispering sweet nothings in her ear, until the Arch-mistress was able to pull herself back together somewhat.
Her hand went to her cheek, her thumb caressing her reverently, tears leaking down blue orbs, but not for the reason the mage would’ve thought. “I’ve never wanted anything- I wish with every fibre of my being this was real.” Letting out a breath she didn’t know she was holding, she rested her forehead against the brunette’s. Yennefer had never been so grateful for thought transference.
Their eyes opened. Full of love, full of life. This was right. All their sacrifices were worth it, would be, knowing where the path ended, knowing the story ended and began again with them. A decade from where they left, together in that office studying the artefact and the wait couldn’t matter less when this was the endgame.
The door opened, and their gazes landed on a child, half dragging, half carrying a white cat into the room, her white shift barely covering her feet and Tissaia gasped, the familiar tingling in her head warning her of a conduit moment, her daughter’s. “Everything felt so wrong.” The child whimpered and getting off Yennefer as fast as she could she scooped her baby into her arms, Duchess landing gracefully on the floor, looking at the three of them suspiciously.
“It’s fine. Everything is fine now.” The sorceress whispered, blue meeting violet, her fingers moving one strand of chestnut hair behind her tiny ear. Slowly turning to the younger mage, who had clapped to get their attention, a choked sound leaving her throat when she realised just how much like them the toddler looked.
Controlling herself and smiling, the raven-haired mage said, “Now, who wants blueberry pancakes, with lots of honey?” The cat mewed, making the little girl giggle and she knew instantly, who she had taken the sound of her laughter from and putting her olive hand on Tissaia’s, Yennefer guided them down to the kitchen.
She heaved, her hand against her chest, against the coolness of the pendant and she saw the younger mage was the same.
A vision. A gift.
The Arch-mistress tackled the raven-haired sorceress, kissing her for all she was worth. Kissing her again and again, until their bodies protested the magical strain they had just endured, loudly enough.
Frowning, when helping her up instead of happiness she sensed in her aura a deep paranoia. “Darling?” Not meeting her eyes, she answered, fiddling with the cloth of her elaborate skirt, but not letting go of the hand that held hers.
“Yes?” It came in a breathless whisper.
Tissaia grabbed her chin, frowning. “What’s the matter?” She nudged her consciousness with her own, finding steel doors firmly locked, still, she persisted, until she was sure the answer was ready to leave her tongue.
“Now that you know what will happen, will you… will you stop the coup?” ‘Will you change fate? Knowing the price of keeping the Brotherhood?’ went unsaid. Destiny was a fickle, wilful thing and they knew this better than most people. A give and a take, as the still Rectoress had restlessly engrained into her pupils.
The brunette laughed, reminding her of what was awaiting them if they dared. “Of course not.” Kissing Yennefer again to shut her up, she continued, “No. Every great empire has fallen. Every great empire will. I know this. I always have.”
Never in her life had she been this openly honest, vulnerable. She couldn’t bring herself to care. “It’ll hurt me, it might break me, to see what I created in ashes, but if I have to choose… my choice will always be you, Yennefer, it will always be our baby.”
Tears fell from her eyes again, this time the Arch-mistress cleaning them. “My choice will always be the both of you, too. When the world falls into the darkness, which we know it will, please remember I love you.”
“I promise.” She muttered.

Twenty-two women architects and designers you should know
To mark International Women's Day, we asked 22 of the world's most inspirational women architects and designers to nominate another woman who should be better known for their work.
Each of the prominent architects and designers was asked to select a woman who they think deserves greater recognition.
Several chose to shine a light on historic figures who did not receive full recognition in their lifetimes, with MVRDV co-founder Nathalie de Vries, Bangladeshi architect Marina Tabassum and Neri&Hu co-founder Rossana Hu nominating Jadwiga Grabowska-Hawrylak, Minnette de Silva and Lin Huiyin respectively.
Others took the opportunity to draw attention to a contemporary woman or women-led team that should be better known, with Camille Walala, Tatiana Bilbao, Dorte Mandrup and Eva Franch i Gilabert nominating Unscene Architecture, Taller Comunal, Marie-José Van Hee and V. Mitch McEwen respectively.
Read on for the 22 architects and designers that deserve greater recognition:
Marie-José Van He Nominated by Dorte Mandrup, Dorte Mandrup Arkitekter
"Marie-José Van Hee is a remarkably talented architect. Working primarily in her native country, Belgium, she is forging a significant mark on contemporary architecture with her attention to space, light and natural materials.
"Through her understated, authentic and poetic work, she continuously influences and inspires architects and designers alike. A timeless simplicity and weightlessness permeate throughout her designs, creating a stillness that seems almost tangible – blurring the line between art and architecture."
Iwona Buczkowska Nominated by Farshid Moussavi, Farshid Moussavi Architecture
"Polish-born French architect Iwona Buczkowska's brilliant career is distinguished by an architectural approach opposed to any form of standardisation, thus placing the diversity of users and their agency at the core of her work. Her tireless commitment has led to the creation of works of incredible richness and inventiveness, whether for housing projects or public facilities.
"At a time when we need to question our built environment, and in particular, the housing in which we live, her work on diversification, user empowerment and inclusion seems particularly worthy of attention. As her work is under-studied, and because some of her built projects are currently under threat of demolition, I feel it is particularly important to bring to light what her work has to teach us."
Charlotte Perriand Nominated by Es Devlin, Es Devlin Studio
"Last weekend I went to the South Downs to try to recreate this uplifting portrait of Charlotte Perriand (above) about which her daughter said: 'That photograph of a strong woman, triumphantly embracing nature, is the perfect image of my mother. She announces the contemporary woman, emancipated and free.
"Most of us have sat on the extraordinary and now iconic furniture she made in collaboration with Le Corbusier. Most of us are unaware of her fundamental role in its design. She was a genius in the art of collaboration, especially with powerful male artists. Her practice spanned an astounding range of genres, her work drew deeply on the forms she observed in nature throughout her rich life."
Kenyatta Mclean Nominated by Harriet Harriss, dean of the Pratt Institute School of Architecture
"I'd like to nominate Kenyatta Mclean, co-founder and co-managing director of Blackspace: the black, interdisciplinary, spatial collective comprised of architects, artists, designers and planners who have asserted both the necessity and the agency of 'Black Urbanism'.
"From my perspective, her ability to co-create spatial narratives that are centred in and driven by racial justice is essential and urgent work applicable both to the US where the practice is situated, and cities worldwide, where structural racism and other forms of discrimination are embedded in the materiality and form of the architectures that surround us.
"Moreover, spatial collectives – from Matrix to Assemble – offer a much-needed antidote to the vagaries of starchitecture and the hierarchies typically found in traditional design practices. Kenyatta Mclean's visionary work reminds us all of the need to use this period of Covid-imposed introspection to re-examine how much more inclusive, equitable and impactful our industry needs to become.
"Blackspace also offers a road map and a benchmark for graduates and young practitioners who are committed to leading the changes we need to make."
Unscene Architecture Nominated by Camille Walala, Studio Walala
"I would like to nominate Unscene Architecture. A pair of fantastic women that I met the year before the pandemic started. The architecture design duo – founders Manijeh Verghese and Madeleine Kessler – were the co-creators of the British Pavilion for the postponed 2020 Venice Architecture Biennale. Definitely, ones to watch."
Anupama Kundhoo Nominated by Seetal Solanki
"A rare kind within the world of architecture. Anupama Kundhoo brings people a voice, materials a voice and building a voice that is beyond her own – an egoless practice. Traits that shouldn't be so rare actually, but she's paving the way for so many and hopefully many more to come."
Ndebele women Nominated by Sumayya Vally, Counterspace
"In this tribe, we evoke women near and far – friends, ancestors and mythical figures – women who write, organise, imagine and build worlds into being. I chose to draw attention to the unrecognised architect genius of the Ndebele women – women who craft ritual objects and build and adorn their own homes. The calling of their names invokes the calling of millions of errant, unrecognised, other architects the world over – past, present and future.
"They are Maria Ntobela Mahlangu, Dinah Mahlangu, Johanna Mkwebani, Martina Maghlangu, Anna Msiza, Sara Mthimunye, Sara and Lisbeth, Pikinini and Sara Skosana, Anna Mahlangu, Letty Ngoma, Sarah Mguni, Martha Mtsweni Ndala, Rossinah and Esther Mahlangu."
Jadwiga Grabowska-Hawrylak Nominated by Nathalie de Vries, MVRDV
"When working on our Concordia Design project in Wroclaw, Poland, I met Jadwiga Grabowska-Hawrylak, the grande dame of modern Polish architecture. Born in 1920, she brought architecture to the next level in the second half of the 20th century. In 1974, she was the first woman to receive the prestigious Honorary Award from the Association of Polish Architects.
"In a time when female Polish architects were mostly known as 'the wife of…' Jadwiga had a highly successful career, she had a big part in rebuilding postwar Wroclaw, and was also known for her schools and housing. I am really impressed by her work and her amazing personality. When I met her, she was very energetic and still very much involved in architecture. With her passing in 2018, Poland lost a great architect."
Minnette de Silva Nominated by Marina Tabassum
"The first name that comes to mind is Minnette de Silva (pictured above with Pablo Picasso), an architect ahead of her time. Less celebrated than her contemporary male counterparts. You may have read this article below, but I'm sharing the link again. This tells her story better than I can write."
Marina Willer Nominated by Margaret Calvert
"I would propose Marina Willer, although she may not fit as she's already well known. Apart from being an exceptional graphic designer and filmmaker, Marina was the first woman to be appointed a Pentagram partner. Brazilian by birth, it was at the Royal College of Art, where I was teaching at the time, that I first became aware of her amazing drive, commitment and talent as a student."
Duygu and Begum Ozturk Nominated by Nelly Ben Hayoun, Nelly Ben Hayoun Studios
"I nominate Duygu and Begum Ozturk, the two sisters behind the fashion brand Harem London. Born in Istanbul, they started their all-organic fashion brand recently in Dalston, London; merging traditional techniques from Istanbul and London, bringing together their heritage and future.
"I love that they started a business together as sisters and that they are persevering in developing their beautiful collection despite the pandemic and Brexit and all the complexity this created for them. They need to be applauded for their great work."
Lin Huiyin Nominated by Rossana Hu, Neri&Hu
"Lin Huiyin was the first female architect in modern China. Lin and her partner Liang Sicheng were the pioneers in architectural heritage restoration and documentation in China during the 1930s.
"Although it was the two of them who brought China's ancient architectural treasures to light, Lin's recognition in documenting and restoring China's historic buildings has often been overshadowed by her partner, who is recognised as the 'father of modern Chinese architecture'. In addition to her architectural practice, Lin is also widely acclaimed for her literary creation."
Mary Corse Nominated by Azusa Murakami, Studio Swine
"I would like to pick Mary Corse. She has been gaining much-deserved recognition in recent years with a solo show at the Whitney but has been arguably one of the most innovative artists to come out of the light and space movement.
"We love her material research, her ability to take industrial elements like the glass microbeads used on motorway reflective road markings and using it to make really delicate and sublime optical paintings is really inspiring."
Yemi Awosile Nominated by Morag Myerscough
"I have loved Yemi Awosile's work for many years. She is a wonderful person and I have worked with her in the past on the Bernie Grant Centre where she made some textiles for the centre."
Franziska Porges Hosken Nominated by Jane Hall, Assemble
"Austrian-born, and America-based, designer Franziska Porges Hosken was pioneering in multiple respects. In 1944 she became one of the first women to receive her master's of architecture degree from Harvard's Graduate School of Design and in 1947, together with her husband James Hosken, she founded their successful eponymous furniture business Hosken.
"Despite giving up her design practice to take care of her first child in the late 1950s, Hosken continued to create as a photographer and journalist, publishing numerous books on urbanism including The Language of Cities.
"She was also an activist for women's rights, founding the Women's International Network and publishing reports on Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), a term she is credited with coining, which affected the agenda of major health organisations including the WHO. Continuing to distribute a feminist newsletter well into her eighties, Hosken's legacy demonstrates an extraordinary commitment, undertaken over the course of a lifetime, to connect design with social activism."
Winka Dubbeldam Nominated by Sonali Rastogi, Morphogenesis
"Winka Dubbeldam is an architect whose contribution I would like to acknowledge. She is the founder of the WBE firm Archi-Tectonics. She had visited our studio about 15 years back whilst working on the redevelopment of the New Delhi railway station. I also enjoyed attending one of her juries in UPenn about ten years ago, and ever since, I have been following her.
"Being in academia myself, what resonates with me is her significant influence on the emerging generation through her involvement in architectural education and design juries worldwide. Her designs are evocative and transformative, and she creates architecture that matters.
"I read somewhere that she maintains a fluid balance between energy and calm, precision and informality, experiment and comfort in her designs, studio, and life, a mantra I have been following all my life."
Eva Albarran Nominated by Sofia Von Ellrichshausen, Pezo von Ellrichshausen
"I would like to propose Eva Albarran: a Spanish entrepreneur, living both in Paris and Madrid, who operates in the expanded, and diffuse, field of contemporary art and architecture.
"She is a solid character who has managed to solve complex productions for significant artists (such as Christian Boltaski, Felice Varini or Francis Alys). Together with her husband, they direct a refined gallery and the Solo houses program, a project that might well be read as a radical revision of the current human condition in relation to nature."
Dana Al Amiri Nominated by Pallavi Dean, Roar
"Dana Al Amiri, the co-founder of Watab Studio, is a rising star in the male-dominated Saudi construction industry. I love her minimal pared design philosophy – practicing in a region that is infamous for opulent and OTT statements. She truly represents the next generation of regional architects that are defining Saudi's design identity."
Taller Comunal Nominated by Tatiana Bilbao
"I would like to make Taller Comunal, which is led by Mariana Ordóñez Grajales and Jesica Amescua Carrera, my recommendation. Because for them, architecture is not a profession, it is a service to facilitate architecture to be produced by the people who inhabit it. That should be the future of our profession."
Anne Tyng Nominated by Huang Wenjing, Open Architecture
"Anne Tyng immediately came to mind as a female architect that deserves much more recognition. Born in China in 1920 to missionary parents; a classmate of Eileen Pei and IM Pei — these two little details seem to have brought her closer to me, my being Chinese and had worked in the office that IM founded.
"Tyng was one of the first women to study architecture at Harvard Graduate School of Design; the only woman to take the architectural license test in 1949.
"It is unfortunate and unfair that people often seem to be more interested in her anecdotal affair with the iconic master Louis Kahn than her great influence on his early works — the rigour of geometry and order was very much Anne Tyng's interest and contribution. She went on to be an independent architect, theorist and educator. A true pioneering woman in the field."
V. Mitch McEwen Nominated by Eva Franch i Gilabert
"Mitch is an architect, activist, dancer, rapper, entrepreneur, someone who has taken the lead on many occasions to make space for new ideas.
"We crossed paths several times throughout the last ten years; In 2011, during the Occupy Wall Street Movement, I organised an exhibition and a series of events at Storefront for Art and Architecture hosted by brilliant people; Mitch's workshop "How to Occupy a House in America" was one of them.
"In 2014, Mitch was one of the architects writing letters to the Mayor in the first edition in New York of the global project "Letters to the Mayor" asking Mayor Bill de Blasio: "How can New York City Housing Authority really become the Pride of Our City?" and provided some answers and ideas that still stand.
"Mitch is currently an assistant professor at Princeton University – where I am currently teaching a seminar. Her work is now on display at MoMA in New York as part of Reconstructions: Architecture and Blackness in America."
Mónica Bertolino Nominated by Sandra Barclay, Barclay & Crousse
"Mónica Bertolino is an architect from Córdoba, Argentina, where she lives and works as part of the Studio Bertolino-Barrado founded in 1981.
"Together with Carlos Barrado they have an excellent production of projects in different scales. In their work you understand immediately the search for good qualities in habitability, their sensibility when they intervene in the landscape, and their concern for research about materiality linked to the local traditions of construction.
"I admire and think she deserves recognition especially in her academic role where she transmits her passion and enthusiasm for architecture in an unconditional way. She is devoted to this mission!
"She participates in workshops and as invited professor in different universities in the world as well as a regular professor in the National University of Cordoba and in the Catholic University of Cordoba."
