Abandoned WIPs of my Durge: Cruxx.

These are way too rough for me to finish. I'm so dang tired.

Struggling through chronic spinal issues means my work is slow and often takes a while to finish or post.

Cruxx is a pseudo-nun type tiefling who fights Baal's influence by enlisting the help of an even darker, more elusive entity: "Our Lady of Echoes, " the goddess Nii.

The story is that she lost her life in a mugging in Waterdeep ten years back. Gale had passed by the alley they were in, but ducked away without helping them. (Or so it seemed).

Gale doesn't remember Cruxx, but she remembers and even deeply hates Gale. Their journey together, however, has begun to warp that hate into complicated feelings. A classic enemies to terse friendship to love story.

(Lemme know if y'all are interested in hearing more about them. Otherwise I might just stick to Bluejay comics for right now).

I used GPT-3 to come up with some novelty sock concepts.

GPT-3 Ada (2020):

In my original prompt format I used quotes for text that was actually written on the sock, which means that Ada's lollipops sock has the words "a halved grapefruit" written on it. And the jello stick hamburger item is not a shirt, but a sock with a picture of the shirt on it. Unless Ada has completely lost the plot and is not even generating socks anymore, which frankly is likely.

Babbage is the next-largest GPT-3 model from 2020, and it is doing better at being socks, although many of its socks seem very tricky to illustrate.

Note that as the models get bigger, GPT-3's socks start becoming more conventionally "trendy", like a lolrandom site from 10 years ago. Technically that's what it's going for - it's trained to reproduce the websites from its training data.

[F/N] tugged at her hair anxiously, her gaze drifting to Kazuha.

He was playing a song for the rest of the crew.

It was the Cruxx Fleet’s music night.

Kazuha almost always held the spotlight on such nights…

Red eyes met [e/c] hues, and his lips quirked up into a small smile, as his gaze fell on her.

[F/N] returned the smile, averting her gaze with pink tinged cheeks. Sometimes—

Sometimes she wondered why Kazuha stuck with her of all people…

She especially wondered on nights like these.

He had such a gift, so surely—

Surely he could do better than her?

She wasn’t exceptionally pretty or gifted, not like some of the other girls she’d seen try to catch Kazuha’s eye..

So why her?

She loved having him by her side, but sometimes…It just felt as though she was holding him back…

Kazuha was the type that deserved to stand in the spotlight.

She’d only end up casting a shadow over him, being as plain as she wa—

Kazuha’s face was suddenly in front of her’s, breaking her train of thought.

“The air around you shifted, love. You’re not doubting yourself again, are you?”

[F/N]’s eyes widened and she bit the inside of her cheek, averting her gaze.

“You should finish your song, Kazuha… Don’t let me distract you…”

She grumbled, guilt pooling up in her gut.

Kazuha frowned, shaking his head with a soft sigh.

“I see. It seems as though you were so lost in thought, you didn’t hear the rest of my song.”

The guilt increased at that, and [F/N] wilted,,before a light laugh drew her attention.

She glanced at Kazuha, her brows slightly furrowed.

He offered her a smile, before fondly brushing the hair from her face.

“It’s fine. I was only jesting, dearest. I’ve played that song more times than I can count. Now, tell me… What troubles are in that pretty head of yours?”

[F/N]’s cheeks burned at the compliment, before she sighed.

“That’s exactly it, Kazuha. I’m not that pretty… Hardly so, compared to some of the other women that like you… I’m scrawny and boyish, no boobs, hardly any curves, no womanly charm, and you…You’re such a star. I’m just… I feel like I’m holding you back. You’re a free spirit, right? Aren’t I just a shackle… in that sense?”

She murmured, fighting back the urge to cry.

There was no reason to be crying!

She was being stupid— This was all so dumb. Why’d she have to bother Kazuha with this? After his performance too—!

Kazuha’s hand cupped her cheek, and his voice came out softly, as he spoke.

“Look at me, love.”

[F/N]’s gaze trailed to his, and she took in the warmth of his smile.

“You’re the one I love, not them, and it does not matter to me how pretty they are, as they are not you. You’re the only one I have eyes for, [F/N]. You’re smart, funny, clumsy at times, and while you struggle, you also overcome. You’ll never be a shackle to me, either. You’re a home, [F/N]. You’re someone I can come back to, and someone I want to come back to. As for womanly charm, I think you’re gorgeous. You don’t need bust to be considered beautiful or womanly, if anyone tells you otherwise they’re selling something. There are cons to being busty as well, such as back problems and—“

[F/N] burst out laughing, pressing their forehead up against Kazuha’s.

“Pffft—! Thank you, Kazuha! Don’t let the Captain hear you say that— Heheheh! That’s—! Back problems… Where’d you even—! Pfft… Where’d you hear that?”

Kazuha’s answering smile was mischievous, and he pressed a quick kiss to [F/N]’s cheek, before whispering his answer.

“As it so happens, the Captain talks about a variety of different subjects when tipsy.“

[F/N] laughed loudly at that, clutching her side as tears stung her eyes.

“Oh my archons… You’re kidding? You’re kidding, right? You’re just teasing me… Pfft…”

Kazuha tilted his head, his eyes sparkling mischievously.

“You could always ask the Captain and find out, hm?”

[F/N] snorted, shaking her head.

“As if!!! You’re so silly, Kazuha. I love you, you know?” She murmured softly, her cheeks tinged pink.

Kazuha smiled at that, before pulling into a gentle embrace.

“I know, [F/N]. I love you, as well, so very much. There is nothing about you that I don’t adore. Your tendency to fret at times, for one, can be rather endearing. Although, I hope this helped to alleviate some of those more troublesome thoughts.”

[F/N] nodded, pressing her face into Kazuha’s chest with a small smile.

“Mhm… I’m not worrying right now..”

Kazuha hummed softly, running a hand through her hair, a small smile on his face.

“That’s good. If you could do me a favor and find me when you are, so that I can remind you how great you are.”

[F/N] grinned, laughing at his words.

“You’re so silly, Kazuha… I’ll take you up on that.”

Kazuha chuckled, pressing his lips to her forehead.

“I’d hoped you’d say that, Love. Silly as I am, I can’t seem to get enough of your company. You see, I’m a fool for you.”

That’s reckless and I’ve told them as much before. Still, it’s undeniable that they’re competent in taking care of themselves. Otherwise, I’d be a little more insistent that they watch their back.

About [F/N] (Work) : We’ve worked together a few times in the past. Ningguang needed an extra hand, and the Adventurer’s Guild is convenient. They’re surprisingly good at martial arts, as kind as they are, I’d originally thought they’d be a bit softer. Goes to show, you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover.

About [F/N] : Ah, the adventurer. I met them once when we were both in the wilderness. I showed them how I made my electro lanterns, and in turn they gave me their recipe for a disinfecting salve. About [F/N] ( Deadlines ) : Ah? The adventurer? They’re very good at what they do. I’ve commissioned them specifically, several times. Whether it be retrieving my investments from treasure hoarders, or picking up a simple package, they’ve never failed to meet a deadline. Their work is excellent, which is not something I would say lightly.

About [F/N] ( Personality ) : Not only are they a good worker, but they’re charismatic as well. Perhaps, it’s their artistic nature, but that silver tongue of theirs is often put to good use. They have a knack for smoothing out conflicts. I’ve heard others say that [F/N] is soft, I disagree: they’re sharp enough to know when to act a certain way. They’re a good person to have on your side, if you’re in need of assistance.

About [F/N] : I’ve seen them a few times running errands for Lady Ningguang. I feel for them, as they’re often as busy as I am. Still, I cannot deny that they’re a good worker! I haven’t heard anyone say a single negative thing about them, regarding their work. Their personality? Well, I can’t say for sure, but I’ve heard that they’re actually rather cunning…

About [F/N] : [F/N]? That Adventurer? I don’t know them very well, though I believe they’re friends with Kazuha. They helped him load some stuff on the Cruxx once, in exchange for learning that leaf whistling trick that he does. Weird trade off, in my opinion, but whatever floats their boat. Kazuha’s a good judge of character, and I’ve heard good things from Ningguang, so they’re cool in my books.
